Quite literally getting teary eyed about the fact that all of Reepicheep’s friends/comrades (haha comrats) were so willing to cut off their tails for him
No hesitation, no outside recommendations, just pure loyalty.
And he was rewarded for it!! Not because of what he had done but because of what the people around him did!!
I AM GOING TO CRY

Drinkable Light in Narnia
"Perhaps your Majesty would like to taste it first," said Drinian to Caspian.
The King took the bucket in both hands, raised it to his lips, sipped, then drank deeply and raised his head. His face was changed. Not only his eyes but everything about him seemed to be brighter.
"Yes," he said, "it is sweet. That's real water, that. I'm not sure that it isn't going to kill me. But it is the death I would have chosen - if I'd known about it till now."
"What do you mean?" asked Edmund.
"It - it's like light more than anything else," said Caspian.
"That is what it is," said Reepicheep. "Drinkable light. We must be very near the end of the world now."
There was a moment's silence and then Lucy knelt down on the deck and drank from the bucket.
"It's the loveliest thing I have ever tasted," she said with a kind of gasp. "But oh - it's strong. We shan't need to eat anything now."
Chapter 16
“No one ate or slept and no one wanted to, but they drew buckets of dazzling water from the sea, stronger than wine and somehow wetter, more liquid than ordinary water, and pledged one another silently in deep draughts of it. And one or two of the sailors who had been oldish men when the voyage began now grew younger every day.”
-Voyage of the Dawn Treader, chapter 15

This is for your sleepover. I am just being a menace knowing what this prompt could cause. I am requesting a fic. Work at all your leisure.
So it is a request for a Dark! King Caspian. Prompts
"i thought i could trust you." "and whose fault is that?"
their breath hitching whenever the other gets a little closer
Maybe if you would like some background
Reader was Caspian's friend that has helped him even after everyone has told them he was a lost cause. But Reader is in love and keeping it from him. But that's just a suggestion you work your own magic.
Okay, we spoke about this and I told you what people have no clue about, but Prince Caspian was my first fictional boyfriend. My first man. I haven't written him in ages and this might genuinely tingle parts of my brain that were long forgotten, but I can't wait. Here we go, Ellie. — main masterlist | 🏷️: Dark!King Caspian, life-long best friends, friends to enemies to lovers to 'friends', pining, mentions of smut, unresolved sexual tension; [WC: 1.4k]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ˗ˏˋ꒰ i was never there ꒱
Peace among the Telmarine Kingdoms came at high prices that one but he, the King, was ready to speak for or own up to. It came at the cost of what sometimes felt like his soul if he still believed in those.
Most of the time, you stood by his side as Caspian chose whatever he must.
As his Counselor, you knew what no one else in the world did.
As his friend, you saw what even Caspian himself tried to hide. And as his lover... well—that part was long gone. But you remembered it. What it was like, having the pieces of him that reminded you of the Caspian that once was. Having the pieces of the King, who reminded you of who you kept falling for. Being trapped by.
Caspian won you back by saying Narnia would collapse without you.
Back then, a couple of years ago, he went into the woods in search of you after the fallout you two had and whispered the words you longed to hear for a long time. "I can't do this without you. Come back to me. You know it's different with us—you know... it's us."
“I’ll come back under one condition.”
“Anything.” The way Caspian uttered words changed after he became King. After power dripped off his shoulders as if his cloaks and clothes carried magic unknown by everyone else.
“It’ll be different. I’m not—your Consort.” The way you spit out the word carried your shame, the memories, and his taste. “Don’t turn me into one. Not again.”
Instead of nodding along, Caspian took his time before answering. He looked around your tent, looked you up and down as if searching for the answer in your body — as he had many times before — and then, after tense seconds of silence, he nodded, solemn. “I won’t.”
You knew the roundtable were still in talks to marry him to Ramandu’s daughter. Two years of absence and that was yet to change.
Caspian’s stubbornness was as iconic as his sword.
But if he would marry her—and he would, for there was no doubt about the best choice for Narnia’s King, then you would stay clear of his chambers.
“You’ll advise me. Go back to your place by my side.” He spoke in absolutes, and it made you remember that now, you had to look straight into his eyes when he spoke, and not the curve of his lips. Not the dark feathers surrounding his neck, or the secrets he hid in the corner of his mouth.
“So it is.”
Tumblr media
It lasted months.
Months of Caspian showing you how much he had changed — so much power, how could one being carry so much power within them — and yet, how much he was still the same. The sudden bursts of playfulness when the two of you were alone in the private gardens of the castle. The knowing looks and entire conversations he was able to carry with you over people’s heads in balls, meetings, encounters. All of that, and the sizzling, almost-alive energy that you two generated when you got too close.
That went nowhere.
“Where did you go?” He asked you in rose garden once. You two had practiced the shortsword together long enough to be dripping in sweat, so you sat under a willow tree and watched as Caspian laid his body by your feet, resting his head on his hand. “None of my soldiers could find you for too long.”
“Narnia is a big place,” you answered. Being difficult with him was a pastime you never grew out of.
Caspian rolled his eyes. “I’m happy your time away in mysterious place never robbed you of your difficultness.”
“How could it? I was born with it.”
Caspian smiled. One of those rare and gorgeous smiles. “I said that when I was a teenager. Will you ever let it go?”
“Never.” That memory was etched into you. Tattooed on the walls of your brain, along with the first kiss of his lips on yours that followed those words.
The air sizzled slightly, and you knew the topic etched too close to dangerous waters.
“And you—did you learn anything about battling with more than one weapon or are we done here?”
It was good enough of a distraction.
The battlefield became your only escapade. The only place you two could be near each other, close, touching, and the hitches on your breath or soft gasps that escaped your lips could be passed by something else other than it was.
A storm, brewing in the distance.
He’d promised you that he’d keep his distance. Caspian promised to respect your wished, but Caspian lied before.
Tumblr media
A few days after that, and he brings you back to where you were before running away.
Harvest festivals were a time of drunkenness, stupidity, accidents.
As his Counselor and one of his first Knights, it meant hours of boring work—being one of the few sober people in a castle full of drunks and high folks was not only tiresome, it was annoying.
When he comes to you offering a glass of — you check with your nose, humming along — absinthe, and his pipe, you think, at least this. At least a little bit of peace.
You two talk for a while. Hushed tones, poised faces. People pass by and greet, sometimes stopping to try and participate, but as always, they feel left out after a while. Nothing and no one can quite keep your pace—you and Caspian developed your own rhythm years ago, and that only worsened with the years.
When he asks to go up to the meeting room, it’s past the peak of night. It must be only a few hours before sunrise, and you think—’the guards can finish this’. So you go up.
Conversation about the trip to Poppy Fields is so good that you almost miss it.
His eyes on you, heavy and meaningful. The long sips he takes of his glass, and how his voice lowers.
When you do register, it’s because of proximity. You’re standing in front of his bookshelf, checking the new addition titles he acquired in your absence, and then, his presence covers your back like a dark cloud.
You shiver, breath hitching once again. Caspian’s close. Too close for a conversation, and the silence that comes with it makes it known for the both of you.
This proximity’s dangerous, and it makes a knot climb up your throat.
He’d promised.
Frozen, you stand there in silence, your words forgotten and the topic of the conversation unknown to you, carried away by the wind. All you can feel is how his chest is only a couple of inches away. He removed his cloak, leaving only his white blousy tucked in his pants, and know what he looks like without taking a glance back.
“You promised me.” It comes out as a sad, choked whisper.
He knows you’re too weak to ever want to push him away. “I did.” He sounds surprised. Not at breaking his promise, but that he did one in the first place. Caspian’s hands find your waist, and they might as well be balls of fire for the way they burn through your clothes, warming the skin under. “I tried.”
He had. Both of you had, you knew.
"I thought I could trust you." To try harder. To keep your promise.
Caspian chuckles at that, dark and low. His face inches closer, his lips ghosting over your ear in that way he knows makes you weak— "And whose fault is that?" With those words, he pulls your body flushed against his, and then brings his lips to your neck, leaving a wet trail of kisses that goes from under your ear to the column of your throat.
Caspian lied before, but never to you.
But then again, if you thought about it, he had promised long ago that he would never hide what he really feels for you. He promised that first.
You spin around in his arms when Caspian’s teeth sink against you, and bury your moan in his mouth, surrending entirely to the ocean of him and everything you missed. You’re shaking, hands trembling and chest panting, but so is he.
Neither of you will make past the table this first time, but this table had seen your naked body before, and it had seen its King falling apart by your hands.
This was your fault. And his. And you two were guilty, willingly, together. Over and over again.

Things that stuck out to me when rereading The Chronicles of Narnia series (in no particular order — under the cut):
• "And oh, the cry of the seagulls! Have you heard it? Can you remember?" (Chapter 17, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) — Just a really peculiar part of the narration. The narrator often talks to you as the reader, but usually to draw a comparison that the reader would know, never to ask a question. As far as I can recall, this is the only passage like this in the series!
• "The box was Atlantean; it came from the lost island of Atlantis. [...] For in the very dawn of time Atlantis was already a great city with palaces and temples and learned men. [...] The Atlantean box contained something that had been brought from another world when our world was only beginning." (Chapter 2, The Magician's Nephew) — Atlantis??? Mentioned once and then never again???
• "None of the party except Edmund (and perhaps Trumpkin) was a rock climber." (Chapter 9, Prince Caspian), "Edmund was the sort of person who knows about railways." (Chapter 13, The Last Battle) — The most random details about Edmund, and hereby certifying him as Dork™.
• "'In this bottle,' he said, 'there is a cordial made of the juice of one of the fire-flowers that grow in the mountains of the sun. If you or any of your friends is hurt, a few drops of this will restore them.'" (Chapter 10, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), "Every morning a bird brings me a fire-berry from the valleys in the Sun, and each fire-berry takes away a little of my age." (Chapter 14, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) — The idea that not only do things grow on Narnia's sun, but a number of them have healing properties, is absolutely wild. Plus these birds either live on the sun or are capable of going there!??
• "It had long been known to the great kings of our race that there was a word which, if spoken with the proper ceremonies, would destroy all living things except the one who spoke it. But the ancient kings were weak and soft-hearted and bound themselves and all who should come after them with great oaths never even to seek after the knowledge of that word. But I learned it in a secret place and paid a terrible price to learn it." (Chapter 5, The Magician's Nephew) — There's a lot of speculation that C. S. Lewis's idea of the Deplorable Word came from the atomic bomb, and while it would be interesting to learn what perhaps he had in mind as the Word itself, but I'm more interested in Jadis's background and what that terrible price she paid was.
• "For my godmother was a very remarkable woman. The truth is, she was one of the last mortals in this country who had fairy blood in her." (Chapter 2, The Magician's Nephew) — I feel like there's a lot to unpack with the fairy godmother just with the few details Lewis gives us. She possessed the Atlantean box, and wanted Digory's uncle to destroy it upon her death with certain ceremonies. She'd been to prison due to unspecified things. And we're actually told her last name was Lefay. To which we can immediately connect her to Morgan le Fay of Avalon in the stories of King Arthur, who was a fairy enchantress. Furthermore, Avalon was known as the island of apples, which had soil that could produce crops of its own accord and was self sustaining without farming, and those who lived there could live for hundreds of years, and King Arthur goes there to be healed of his wounds. Which is such a good layer of detail considering the tree with the apples later in Magician's Nephew that grant the White Witch immortality and heal Digory's mother.

hi winter ily <333 for character asks….peter pevensie and perhaps simon ghost riley?
(ps. jetko so real!! the entertainment value alone….)
hi :]]]
peter pevensie
sexuality headcanon
why didn't he ever have a (canonical) love interest in the movies? why, I wonder?? because he's gay ace??? because I'm literally too correct? :]
otp
y'all know I'm a caspeter truther <33 they can't stand each other they're fighting over who the real king of narnia is through each other they recognize themselves etc etc <333
brotp
peter and that one centaur general guy in the first movie ?? they were like ?? best buds ?? and I don't think we ever got the centaur's name but they were literally so ride or die for each other and I'm obsessed with them
notp
don't really ? have a notp?? because the only people he's super close to onscreen are his siblings (self explanatory) and caspian so like ,, I love winning
first headcanon that pops into my head
I'm in a tattoo frame of mind so I wonder if there are tattoos in narnia....if the pevensie siblings got matching ones.....hmm...
maybe caspian gives him one. because that would be QUITE homosexual
favorite line from this character
when he introduces himself as "king peter the magnificent" ... ok gayboy <3
one way in which I relate to this character
older sibling utterly lost in his element?? disconnected from everything he knew?? responsibility that he never asked for on his shoulders??? augh
thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
the way he's SOOOO antagonistic towards caspian the entire movie....like sir..he's literally just a guy why are you always ready to swordfight him at a moment's notice (we know why)
cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
I tease him. and occasionally punt him off cliffs. but I fuckin love that fool. he's my good time soldier sweet cheese girlfriend pal
simon ghost riley
sexuality headcanon
also gay ace. why? because I said so. he's demiromantic also. but if anyone asks his response is "wouldn't you like to know"
otp
I'm a soapghost truther at heart. they contain soooo many multitudes
brotp
this blog is home to the roach and ghost bestieship agenda btw. they're sooo important to me. also ghost and price. and ghost and gaz <333
notp
not really super,,against anything in general tbh. they're all consenting adults etc etc but price and gaz are naturally exempt from all ghost shipping activities
first headcanon that pops into my head
I'm a 141 having matching tattoos truther. because matching tattoos are SOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
favorite line from this character
"no one fights alone" yessssss boy acknowledge your trauma and move past it to let others in!!!!!!!! it's a gay ass moment also but honestly that's just a bonus
one way in which I relate to this character
um. code switching. and having two different "personas" as a means of protecting himself. also the autism
thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
I mean....he's pretty edgy which. normally I'd make fun of that but tbh he makes it work. I still make fun of the hot topic skeleton gloves though
cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
problematic fav <33333 he's committed atrocities <33333
character ask game

Voyage of the Dawn Treader (C.S. Lewis) review (reread)
Tumblr media
The third book of the seven Chronicles of Narnia if you go by publication order, and the fifth if you go by in-universe chronology, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is probably one of the more popular of the non-Lion books in the series.
While staying with relatives, Edmond and Lucy Pevensie find themselves pulled through a painting back into Narnia for a third adventure - along with their obnoxious cousin Eustace. They join the now-established King Caspian on a seafaring adventure to discover what happened to his father's exiled allies, seek out new lands and maybe Aslan's country in the east, and boldly go where no Narnian has gone before! (okay, but it fits!)
For whatever reason, I didn't care much for Voyage when I read the series as a kid. I didn't hate it, but it just felt kind of "meh" to me. Reading it as an adult, that's changed completely. After a bit of a slump with Prince Caspian, Lewis is back on form with an adventure loosely inspired by The Odyssey, with each island becoming a mostly self-contained adventure.
Although Edmond doesn't have a lot to do in this book, Lucy has several moments that really shine. She's always been an important character in the story, but most often using her pure heartedness and faith in Aslan as a foil to her older siblings' doubts and weaknesses. In this book, she stands on her own and while her core remains, we get to see a bit of the growing up that she has to do as well.
The other standout character here is Eustace Clarence Scrub. With the book's phenomenal opening line, we're introduced to a stuck-up know-it-all who thinks that being different from others automatically makes him smarter and more worthy than they are. It would spoil the story to explain his character development from there, but for now, just know that his hilariously un-self-aware journal entries alone are worth the price of admission.
The episodic nature of the story allows Lewis to exercise his full whimsy and honestly, this book is just a fun adventure. If I had to offer critiques, it would be these two things that keep the book from getting 5 stars:
The first is that, as alluded two before, Edmond is rather underutilized as a character.
The second is really two things combined. Due to the length of the story and also its nature as a children's book, several of the island adventures feel a bit cut short and "easy". Deathwater Island in particular seems to only have been just getting started when Aslan swoops appears to save everyone and that is that. Obviously there's some spiritual metaphor in this, but as a storytelling device, it can occasionally feel a bit unsatisfying.
Overall, though, a magical adventure with great character development and a very satisfying conclusion.
Rating: 4.25/5

To distract from boring meetings, you would often make faces from areas of the room that only Lucy could see. It irritated the much to serious Peter, but it made Lu laugh... so you kept on.

You’re right. Caspian, the tenth of that name, the Seafarer, king of narnia, lord of Cair Paravel and emperor of the Lone Islands would never do this.

Note
So is this Narnia show you're watching actually good or is it more of a personal nostalgia thing
Bit of both really, it’s good in that it actually depicts the books fairly accurately (it’s the only version of The Silver Chair on screen). The acting is very up and down, it feels like you are watching a play rather than a tv serial. But half of it’s problem comes down to one the budget which was clearly small and two the fact we have the movies to compare it to (which obviously had massive budgets of between $150,000,000-300,000,000).
It is mostly nostalgia (and the fact I’m trying to go through all the main narnia productions) because i first saw this at school, we had just read the lion the witch and the wardrobe, before i saw the first movie even (it had just come out about 4 months earlier) and i remember quite well how cheesy it seemed even in the mid-2000s, we all used to joke about (which in hindsight probably annoyed our teacher because we would joke about aslan and i attended a church of england school… whoops).
So, my best answer would be, it was good for it’s time and budget (it was made in the late 80s).

The beginning and the end
Pairing: Edmund Pevensie x Reader
Request: Hi hallo I was wondering if you could do one about Edmund from Narnia and reader I don’t really have anything else since this is my first time requesting something just please make it really fluffy thank you and I’m so sorry that this is so long also if you can’t read some of the words it’s bc I am dyslexic. Hope you have a wonderful day/night🤍🤍
Summary: The moment you see each other again and the moment that one of you has to leave
Warnings: Fluffy as requested!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were sat in the crow's nest of the Dawn Treader. Softy humming to yourself as you worked on fixing some clothes that had torn at the seams. You loved the crow's nest. You loved being up there where you could see everything. The sea stretching on for miles at your feet. You loved being able to look out at the world.
Being up there also meant that you were the first to see what looked distinctly like three people in the water. Fighting to stay afloat as the Dawn Treader raced towards them.
"There are people!" You shouted. Abandoning your perch and sewing, you grabbed the nearest rope and swung down.
You crew mates had heard you’r shouting and congregated on the main deck as you swung down. Nimbly landing on your feet, you shot onto the head of the dragon where you had a clear view.
Having now seen what you could see, three of the sailors lept off the Dawn Treader. One of whom happened to be Price Caspian.
You watched as the three of them swam towards the three strangers. You could see as they swam closer and closer. And that was when you realised. You recognised these people.
Jumping from the dragons head, you raced to the main deck of the ship, where you could see Caspian and Lucy being hoisted up. You carried on running and barreled into the girl with an excited shout. Nocking her back, a few passes the two of you continued to embrace.
"Do I not get a hug?" A masculine voice asked from where he had been hoisted up behind you and Lucy.
"Edmund!" You delightedly shouted as you jumped into his arms.
His arms immediately wrapped around you. As the two of you basked in the other's presence. It was safe to say that you both had a crush on each other. But neither of you had acted on it.
"You're back!" You beamed when the two of you parted.
"It would seem that I am." Edmund teased.
Before either could carry on, you were interrupted by a hysterical shouting.
Letting go of each other. You turned. Only to see a boy with Reepicheep on top of him. Sending Edmund an inquisitive look. You stepped forwards to investigate.
Tumblr media
Offering his hand to you, Edmund helped you out of the little boat. The boat that had brought you to the edge of Aslan country. Sending him a grateful smile, you took the proffered hand.
When you had clambered out, you kept your hand safely tucked in his. Refusing to let go. You held his hand as you walked towards the water. You squeezed his hand as Aslan appeared. You gripped onto his hand even tighter when Reepicheep left, knowing you would never see him again. You only let go of Edmund's hand when he walked towards the water to go himself.
You watched him going. Part of you didn't want to have to watch him go and leave you forever. But you knew you would never forgive yourself for not seeing him go. You so wanted to leave with him. Nothing was holding you back in Narnia. But you did not know if Aslan would let you leave.
"Go, my child," Aslan told you.
Your head snapped around to look at him, disbelieving of what he had said
"You can go." He assured you. "Your heart is no longer in Narnia. You are ready for your next adventure."
"Thank you, Aslan," you beamed. Tears brimming in your eyes.
Placing a gently kiss on his head. You turned to run after Edmund.
"Edmund!" You shouted, getting his attention. When he turned towards you, you flung yourself at him. "I am coming with you if you will have me?"
"Of course, we will have you." Edmund beamed as he gathered you up in his arms.
Clutching his hand in your's, you turned to watch as your home of Narnia became obscured by water. And when you could no longer see it, you realised you were in an ocean. Swimming up to the surface. You surfaced in a strange room. As the water seemed to recede into a picture. Looking around. You released that while you were still in your Narnian clothes, everything was perfectly dry. As if nothing at all had happened. But none of that mattered. For you where with Edmund.
