So today I had a nap in the afternoon and I tried the technique from the tv show behind her eyes, where inside your dream you look at your hands, and if it has more or less fingers than normal, then you know it's a dream. It actually happened twice. I was walking in my house, two times in two locations very near my bed. I looked at my hands and boom, first time 4 fingers, second time 3. I noticed I was dreaming, but then when I tried to continue the dream, I couldn't. Felt like I was frozen in that position, and everything got blurry in my vision. Happened twice in the same nap. Second time I felt for like 0,5 seconds that I moved a bit, but that was it, frozen and all blurry again. Anyone got any tips about this? How do I continue the dream after I notice I'm dreaming? via /r/LucidDreaming

Sat down on a toilet, noticed the ceiling was all weird. Decided to do a reality check and voila! I know first time lucid dreams don't last long and I didn't want to force anything too drastic so I just sat there looking around my surroundings before a loud noise woke me up fully. So, what do I work on next? Do I practice stabilization? Work on having longer lucid dreams? I'm buzzing with excitement! :Dp.s: it was mega weird to feel the sensation of breathing normally even though my nose was clogged but it was really cool once I went lucid ☆☆ via /r/LucidDreaming

Hi all, So there was an AMA recently about lucid dreaming, I’d not heard of it before but I’m pretty keen.Anyway.. so I’ve been logging my dreams, something I thought I’d never be able to do as I used to think I didn’t dream, I now remember at least a small detail every time I wake up or at least every morning.I’ve got the lucidity app and I’ve got regular reminders to do a reality check (looking at hand and clock)Before going to sleep I’m reading up about lucid dreaming and once I turn the light off I’m telling myself “I will lucid dream”.It’s early days and I don’t expect success overnight, I’m certainly starting to recall dreams better which I hope is progress but I’m not sure what else / different I should do due to my sleeping habits/issues.If I wake up during the night, I often find it very difficult to get back to sleep, this could range from 20-30 minutes up to a couple of hours on a bad night.I could be woken by my partner going to the bathroom, one of the kids or getting a work call on some weeks when rostered. So to actually get to my question, what method would be best suited for somebody who rarely manages to fall asleep quickly and often finds themselves tossing and turning before eventually dropping off? Thanks via /r/LucidDreaming

Hi, I'm curious, do you guys talk about LD in real life? When yes, how do you explain this experience and how are people reacting to this? When no, why not and what will make change your mind?Personally I haven't ever talk about LD in real life. I'm not sure how people will react, I'm afraid most people won't believe that's even possible and think I'm crazy.I'm very curious to hear some experiences about talking about LD in RL. Thanks in advance via /r/LucidDreaming

Hello guys! Today I tried to create a horror story using very advanced AI !The hole thing was 0.15$ worth so enjoy!I put (1) for every sentenceThere were more than 20 sentences but they were the same one repeating over and over again , like sentences 12-15 were repeating.... I think he tried to say that the action was repeating until he woke up .My input :Topic: Lucid DreamsTwenty-Sentence Horror Story:AI Writing :I've always been fascinated by lucid dreams.(1) The idea that I could be conscious in a dream and exert some kind of control over it never really left me. (2) I started experimenting with lucid dreaming in my early teens, but the results were inconsistent at best. (3)I kept trying, though, and I eventually started having lucid dreams with some regularity.(4) I was in my mid-twenties when I had one of the most memorable dreams of my life. (5)I was in a strange house, trying to find an exit. (6) The house was mostly empty, but it had a musty smell that reminded me of something I couldn't quite place. (7) I wandered around the first floor, trying to find a way out. (8)I found a door that led to the basement, and I went down the stairs, thinking maybe there would be another way out there. (9)The basement was dark and damp, and it was filled with furniture covered in sheets. (10) I pulled the sheets off the furniture, but I couldn't find any way out. (11)I went back upstairs, and I tried to find a way out of the house.(12) I found a door that led to a long hallway with many doors on either side. (13)I started opening the doors, but all I found were bedrooms filled with more furniture covered in sheets.(14) I looked under the sheets, but I couldn't find any way out. (15)I went back to the first floor and tried to find a way out of the house again.(16) I found another door that led to a long hallway with many doors on either side. (17)I started opening the doors, but all I found were bedrooms filled with more furniture covered in sheets. I looked under the sheets, but I couldn't find any way out.... (18)The dream ended there, and when it did wake me up, it felt like my heart was going to beat right through my chest! (19) It was the most terrifying dream I had ever had. (20) via /r/LucidDreaming

I woke up after sleeping for some time. When I went back to sleep, I had sort of a staticky feeling and I realized I was asleep and even told myself so multiple times. However, I couldn't really control my dreaming. I was also aware of my body lying down in bed. (This is the second time this has happened) How can I take control? via /r/LucidDreaming

I’ve attempted Lucid Dreaming in the past before using different techniques but haven’t ever been successful. But this morning I randomly fell back asleep about an hour after I got up to start the day and... it happened!! I think what made me do a reality check was my father’s presence in the dream. He passed away about four years ago and was giving me a ride to my current apartment that I’ve had less than a year, which made me realize it wasn’t real. All of a sudden the dream reset and I was back in my bed, able to stand up and control my surroundings. Hopefully this doesn’t get taken down but I’m v new to this (and also excited) and wanted to share!! It was a pretty short experience so if anyone has tips on how to keep dreaming longer I’d love to hear them : ) via /r/LucidDreaming

This contains a personal trauma portion, but it’s important for the build up. I’m having a drink in my room, Friend 1 (let’s call him Tom) comes in to congratulate me on getting my own room. Friend 2 (let’s call him Jerry) follows Tom in, they congratulate me, and we’re just messing around, and Jerry ends up accidentally touching my privates while messing around, I scream for him to stop because it reminds me of the sexual assault that happened to me a few New Years ago by one of my old crushes ex boyfriends. Jerry has left at this point and I run to my bed strip naked and fall asleep I wake up a few minutes later, and start touching myself for a moment when I realize Tom is still there, watching a video on my laptop, I stop because he said “you know what’s weird?” And then he moves his attention to me and he goes off on a tangent for something weird. Out of nowhere, some guards knock on my door (I am not in any kind of facility, prison jail etc. where guards are necessary), Tom opens the door and they rush in, grab me by the neck and are scanning me because “a possible suicide attempt was reported.” They see I’m fine and I have someone with me, and then one of them says something I can’t remember that pisses me off, so I pick him up by his collar, and throw him out of my room into a pillar, and I thought I’d heard his head crack, so I immediately went up to him to check his head and make sure there weren’t any wounds, but me (being drunk) hit his head again on accident, I continued looking for wounds, repeating that a couple times, and eventually we fall off a small drop off and I shield him instead of hurting him. This makes me feel different, and so I try to hurt his head again, but I’m able to stop myself, and each time I try again, with bigger and bigger heights until we are rolling and jumping at great speeds down hills and cliffs each time coming out unscathed, he then disappeared, and I was jumping around by myself, and then I woke up. Right before I woke up, the jumping around was very much voluntary, and I had control of where I was going, how high, etc. Was this lucidity? via /r/LucidDreaming

I was completely lucid for several hours last night. It was also one of the longest sleeps I’ve had in my life. I think the lucid part was towards the end, maybe the last 2 or 3 hours if I had to guess. I did a whole bunch of things throughout the night but the thing I want to tell you guys about is pretty hilarious.I dated Brad Pitt for a day. I picked him up and we went horse back riding for a few hours. Then back to mine for a fuck or two. After that, I pranced him around and showed him off to all my friends and family, not only bragging that we’re together but also showing off my powers.I made him switch his age and show them that I can make him any age I want. My friends were like “make him do Joe Black” and calling out different movies from other decades. His hair would grow or shorten and we were all laughing at the absurdity.Woke up and it’s 2021. I’d rather be sleeping. via /r/LucidDreaming

I've always had extremely vivid dreams. For example, riding in a car on a very high bridge, and something happens where we have to go off the road, crash through the railing, and have hundreds or thousands of feet to fall.I used to be able to catch myself there, and recognize that I can land without dying and then I am in control of the dream. These days, I seem to miss that queue. I'm trying to find my way back to a voluntary lucid dream. Does anyone have hints or advice?I'm sure this sort of post is common. Apologies if that's the case. via /r/LucidDreaming

So I've been lucid dreaming ever since I was little but I never took it seriously. In one part of my dream today, there was this bald looking man (who looked like this but bald) and he was luring my siblings into his shop so I gave him the middle finger but then he grabbed me so I shouted that I was lucid dreaming (because I knew I was dreaming) and I spun around until this piece of text appeared told me to choose my dream so that's what I did. via /r/LucidDreaming

(I checked for rules of posting and I couldn’t find anything specific so I’m sorry if I’m breaking any rules)I was wondering whether the experience of lucid dreaming is for everyone. Disregarding any health benefits, I don’t know if the experience of being aware in my dreams and being able to control it will be something I like. I feel like the dreams I’ve had before are very cool BECAUSE of the fact that I’m not the one controlling it and my brain is just going wild, creating crazy situations. But I wonder if I would lose the ability the experience them if I’m given the steering wheel to control the dream. (Like being in a sandbox game with no good ideas, creativity or without being given any direction.)No one is forcing me to have a lucid dream, of course, but I wanted to ask this community whether they felt that their lucid dreams are much greater than experiences that their regular ones. Also, do you still experience regular dreams once you’ve gained the ability to trigger lucid ones? (Or can you control when you want a lucid dream or not?) via /r/LucidDreaming
