Earlier this month, my girl @chrisscozyreads tagged me in the #namestackchallenge and I started to cry because no one likes the letters in my name 💀 luckily for me, I recently received the beautiful @owlcrate edition of Witches Steeped in Gold and I finally felt like I had a chance! This is for @authorrachelnickle abs the Namestack Challenge! T - The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. Nobody is going magical realism like Cornelia. By the time you realize this is a fantasy adventure, you're already steeped in the magical underbelly of Venice, and maybe that's just what Venice is really like? A - Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. Another YA fantasy, and one of my favorites. Ancient myths mingling with modern aesthetics in one perfect novel. T - Til We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. I have cried every time I read this book. A retelling of the myth of Psyche and Eros, through the eyes of her jealous and ugly older sister. C.S. Lewis really understood what it feels like to be a woman. I - Ink Adept by TatiAnna Tibbitts. Yes, I realize this is shameless self-promotion but I needed a book starting with I! plus I'll never get over how cool it is to have a print copy. 😍 A - Abarat by Clive Barker. I'm obsessed with the oil paintings, done by the author, in this book. The COLORS. The MOVEMENT. I could go on and on. As for the book, it's a surrealist take on the classic Dorothy in Oz fable, and it's wonderful. N - The Nonesuch by Georgette Heyer. Like most people, I enjoy a good clean romance, and Georgette's books are up there with Austen. It's delightful to watch the droll bachelor get swept off his feet by the vivacious spinster--never gets old. N - Night Train to Rigel by Timothy Zahn. The best sci-fi books are the ones inspired by real science but taken to its logical extreme, and nobody is doing it like Timothy. All of his books are great, but this series--mysteries set on an intergalactic train--are especially great. A - Archer's Goon by Diana Wynne Jones. Last but not least, my favorite author. This isn't her best-known book, but it started with A 🤣 A family is turned upside-down by the appearance of the titular "goon," who parks himself in their house to demand a mysterious tribute for his boss.
