Hello! I'm a big fan of Ares X Aphrodite, I've been looking for any sort of retteling of their romance out there and found Passions of the Gods. Can you tell me where I can read it?
Hi, Yespa! 😃
I'm a fan of the 12 Olympian Gods, and 'Passions of the Gods' delves into their compelling complex relationships.
The opening chapter begins with Ares meeting Aphrodite and follows their budding romance while exploring their interactions with the other gods. Although Ares is renowned as a War God, my aim is to explore his multifaceted personality as a lover, son, brother, friend, and foe.
I'm developing a greek mythology series, with the first four books scheduled to be released approximately a month apart.

Okay I think I’m gonna write some semi mythologically accurate modern rettellings of Greek mythology and just what I think there day to day life would have been like. I’m obvs gonna start with the story of hades and Persephone!

It’s incredibly hard to pinpoint what kind of genre Stormkeeper fits into. It’s no high or epic or dark fantasy. It’s set in modern times, but it isn’t defined by paranormal creatures, horror, crime, investigations or mystery. There is no war, politics or thives and assassins - the current fantasy trend. There is magic that seeps into the way people live, think and work. Magic that is the expression of the soul and manifests internal problems of the characters. There is a university tournament that determines the future, but the story is mainly character driven, with lots of internal monologue and relationship drama.
Low fantasy is known for handling supernatural beings set in modern world, contemporary and urban fantasy beloning here. But low fantasy typically feature secret magical forces or supernatural creatures, hidden underworlds and passageways. Protagonists mostly just discover the secret supernatural in the seemingly ordinary world - with Stormkeeper’s magic being regular and known part of the world’s history.
I would have called it magical realism because of how thematical the magic system is, but Stormkeeper goes against its definition. Magic here is explained and strong part of the world, with the main characters all being mages instead of mundane people who stumble upon supernatural happenings. It’s by no means a fairytale rettelling of any kind and it’s not based on any mythology.
At this point I’m inclined to just call it literary fantasy for how hard to indenify it is, how it focuses on themes and motivations instead of action and external conflict and emphasizes introspection and the inner story. There is no quest or enemy to fight, the magical setting just poses a lot of questions the characters are trying to explore in their own ways.

In another video on webtoons yt they said that lore olympus is retteling of MYTHOLOGYS GREATEST LOVE STORY! Sure that myth when uncle kidnaps his teenage nice is so romantic. I dont mind when Hades and perephone retelings are love stories but calling the original one?! Did anyone at webtoon even read original myth?
Admittedly, there are more romantic stories in the mythology than HxP (and I say this while I have them as favorite pairing) 😛 They just said this to sell the product 😛
