even more than ever, i'm endorsing that every person who is still an active harry potter fan and is reading the books, watching the movies, playing the games, and/or buying the merch is a monster who will ultimately be condemned by history. i hope you carry a deep personal shame with you until you grow the fuck up and stop supporting media made by the most prominent figure in a global hate movement.
stop putting your comfort and desire to consume above the safety and well-being of trans people, jewish people, and people of color.
i grew up with this series. it's meant a lot to me over my life. my dad used to read the books to me and my sister as kids, and we continued that tradition until the last book. we went and saw the movies together as a family. we went to a book release party dressed as characters from the books. even after i came out as trans, i had a hard time letting go. i kept harry potter merchandise around with me and had a little hufflepuff keychain. but i gave that up almost a decade ago because of the harm it started to cause to me and my community. i can't engage in these stories anymore; they make me feel sick. and the realization that antisemitism, racism, misogyny, and transphobia have been a part of these stories since the beginning means that it would be wrong to try and engage with them even without financial support and even under death of the author.
harry potter is, at this point, a symbol of hate. one that makes me feel unsafe. i don't care if you, yourself, are a member of the communities affected by jkr's hate or the hate expressed in the series. you should know better if anything.
fuck you. you can't do the bare fucking minimum to support us, jewish people, or people of color and that's sad. i legitimately hope you die so that there will be one less person in the world giving support or indifference to fascists. the world would be better without you in it, as long as you refuse to let go of a series of antisemitic, racist books written by one of the most prominent and active transphobes alive today.
sincerely,
a trans woman that you are statistically likely to ignore or harass

I did some thinking about it, and I realized that the new Velma show gave Daphne the Lucy Westenra treatment. In which the makers of a modern adaptation of a pop cultural horror franchise saw a female character who was hyperfeminine and loves fashion and romance and decided that that must mean she's a shallow slutty mean girl while also ignoring literally all other aspects of her original character.

Starting to ask myself “should I step away from my family?”
My family that is woefully led by toxic masculinity, homophobia, and toxic religious views and all that which makes me sick to my stomach when they talk.
I a pansexual woman, who believes in woman’s rights, and what the Barbie movies message really was and wasn’t offended at it but moved. A woman who believes everyone has their right to happiness and that it isn’t sinful or witchcraft.
An advocate for Autism especially in woman, they’s/thems, and people of color. Mental health is real, adhd is real.
No matter how happy I get they tear it away unintentionally. I know I should speak up to them, and share the honesty I have with myself with them. But I feel like they don’t deserve to know me.
I wanna be free.
I wanna be free to be me around those who should love the real me.

a tangent about the fucked up things people say about the disney princesses that pisses me tf off
it’s so fucked up that everyone blames Snow White for things that were done to her. “if she were smarter she would have known not to eat the apple…” k but who’s the one running around with a poison apple trying to kill her step daughter in the first place??
“snow white’s too easy for marrying the prince” people go through with things before they realize its not safe or healthy ALL the time. she’s 14 & only ever saw rejection from those who were supposed to love and care for her. no wonder she thought she could trust him. also when she DID live with ppl who cared for her (eg. the 7 dwarves) she had to do all the work
“cinderella married a man she just met” cinderella was physically mentally & emotionally abused for her entire life & the only help she ever got was the fairy godmother fixing her dress & telling her to follow her dreams. anything even remotely better than her home life would be appealing. also??? the prince turned out to be a lot safer and healthier for her than her abusive home!!!! sure she is lucky that it turned out that way, but how could you blame her??? she came from HELL and still somehow managed to be mentally intact with her dreams still alive. thats incredible
also in literally every story where people blame the princess for marrying someone she just met…guess what…the prince ALSO married someone he just met but he is never blamed belittled or criticized for it. “oh he was just being a typical man, she should have known better”🤨🤔🤨
“ariel threw everything away to be with eric” so did eric, so did hercules (disney version), prince philip was willing to, (& there’s prob more examples that i just can’t think of rn) but are the men ever criticized? of course not. when they do it, it’s a noble pursuit of true love
“it’s fucked up that esmeralda rejected quasimodo” no one should be on a relationship they dont want to be in. it doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about him or respect him. it just means she stayed true to her feelings. there’s NOTHING wrong with saying no when you’re not interested. there’s this crazy expectation that people are not allowed to reject someone in order to save the other persons feelings, esp for women. it’s not fair to anyone. it’s way worse to string someone along & to trap yourself in a relationship than to cause temporary pain from rejection
gonna add more to this for sure

Okay, I love my parents.
But next person who tells me that women belong in the kitchen is gonna get decked.
I'm done.

I read a comment from a girl who said that now men are going to bullied women because girls liked romance in thotd because they say that women only want fairy tales and don't understand the AsoIaF Universe
My question is: Does anyone still listen to men?

It's so fucking stupid that Tumblr is the place I've met with the least insane takes
Like people will actually use the word misandry right!
Holy shit the amount of times where "a woman is talking about her issue what a fucking misandrist" I've seen physically pains me.
And the amount of "men are just worst than women" takes.
Why are the sane people the ones who want to fuck the funny undertale skeleton

Dudes, I’ve recently started looking at my feelings towards men in therapy and HO BOY do I have
~feelings~
I am Deeply Distrustful and Generally Disdainful towards most men
Right now I am just observing and acknowledging what feelings I have as they come up, but will post as I begin to analyze and unpack these experiences
