Life at West Main Street - part 2
In my last story, I really just painted a picture of what life was like. I didn’t go into a whole lot of detail about how God came through, though. God really came through for us in many ways, especially through the body of Christ.
Before we moved into our apartment we lived at a friends house for a month. During that month I had a dream that I really believed was from God. We had a lot of things to sort through together and figure out. In my dream I was with my mom and we were walking in the ocean and I had to follow her. I kept looking behind me and was afraid, and every time I looked behind I would start to sink and I would have a hard time seeing where she was going. My mom turned around and said “don’t look to the right or to the left, keep your eyes on me”. After I woke up I had an incredible sense of peace and I knew it had been God. Any time after that when I would start to lose focus, I would think of that dream and God would remind me “don’t look to the right or to the left”. Also in other words, “stop looking at your circumstances”. So much stuff hadn’t been figured out yet, but I had to choose to trust God.
I shared how we had a $20 food budget, which we did, and later in our journey it slowly increased. We also had dear friends that fed us dinner once a week to cut down the cost of food, it was a huge help. We had another church member that dropped off bread almost weekly. We had more church members that gave us food boxes regularly. The body of Christ really upheld us. Without them, I don’t know how we would have done it. We had friends teach us how to coupon and counsel us. When we had a need, we prayed, and God would provide in one way or an other. Sometimes I had a small desire, like I would be craving Nutella, and someone would randomly give me a jar of Nutella at church because they said they were thinking of me.
I shared about having two suitcases and a desk chair when we moved in. Within a matter of probably two weeks, we were donated a couch, a bed, a table and chairs, a stove (which took some months to be able to hook it up, because of funky wiring in the apartment, but we had it), a mini fridge, a toaster oven, a waffle maker, a washer and eventually a dryer. One friend was sending us boxes anonymously with brand new pillows, bedding, blankets, some maternity clothes, towels, kitchen towels, plates, bowls, pots and pans, utensils. Pretty much any essential item was send in anonymous boxes that would arrive, even toilet paper and cleaning supplies. It was very humbling and overwhelming, I mean we even had a can opener! Just imagine packages arrive from an anonymous person with all the things you need, when you haven’t told anyone what you need. It was amazing.
Someone took me to Walmart and told me to pick out curtains and other things we needed for our apartment. It was also someone else from our church that gave us money to turn on the water and power to our apartment. We never asked any of these generous people to do this for us, we never told them our need. We prayed together and stuff would happen. It was life changing.
Micah and I were never good at asking for help, which is why it was hard to take out a loan when we needed to, but people showed up and supported us even if we didn’t ask.
And even in the midst of being supported, it was only us that could walk that journey. We had a lot of support, but I struggled greatly any time I was by myself in those first months. Mostly, because I wasn’t used to being by myself. I had just finished a year of college studying social work before we got married, and was around people every day and had a very fast pace busy life. I also came from a big family where there were always people around me. One of my love languages is quality time, so being by myself was new. Going from that life, to being alone every day was a shock for me, and I don’t mind admitting that. BUT through it all I learned the most valuable lesson I could’ve ever learned: I learned to be content. I learned to be okay with my own company, and most of all, I learned how to entertain myself and to be thankful for every little thing in life. Sounds pathetic, but in today’s society, entertainment mostly comes from technology. I had to really face myself and even find out hobbies that I would enjoy to keep my spirit lifted, because being a millennial, the only way I really entertained myself was by watching shows or scrolling on my phone and hanging out with family and friends.
A few weeks after we moved into our apartment Micah was offered a full time job at a car dealership, where he had been doing odd jobs. This was a huge milestone for us, because it meant that we had some stability and a consistent income. I have to say though, even before he had a permanent job, we had one financial miracle after an other. Somehow there always was an odd job for him to make just the right amount of money. The way we were living really made my faith in God become so real. He truly was the One providing for us.
The apartment continued to be an interesting living space. As clean as we tried to keep it, we regularly dealt with cockroaches. We eventually came to the conclusion that perhaps the other people in the building weren’t keeping their spaces clean. We were given a space heater that would show us the temperature in the apartment. It would get as low as 48 Fahrenheit in the coldest months at night, but when it would go over 55 or so it would feel comfortable. We dressed warm in several layers and I would usually sit right in front of the space heater, which made it not so bad. Pregnancy also helped, because it keeps you warmer as well. Anytime we’d go to someone else’s house, or go to church, my cheeks would get flushed and I would be so hot! I had gotten used to colder temperatures. I couldn’t believe I had taken central heat for granted.
The house next to our apartment that we saw from our window, had a basement in which an entire family was living. A mom and dad, a little, maybe 4 year old boy and a baby. I often felt for them and often wanted to help them. The kids were usually only wearing onesies, even in winter. Upstairs, in the regular part of the house lived the grandparents, I think. I think they bred dogs, they had about 5 tied to trees in the yard. These dogs never stopped barking and often kept me up at night. As much as I wanted to help this family, I also thought about calling the police on them for having these dogs! I might have threatened I would untie all of them in the middle of the night in my hysterical mood. I did eventually get used to the dogs and stopped hearing them, and I think they sold some because they eventually only had 1 or 2.
Our upstairs neighbors, were a couple, probably in their late 50s. It was this lady that actually had hollered from across the street telling us there was an apartment available below them. They were sweet people, and also very troubled people. I would often hear them fight, but it’s not like we never had arguments, so who was I to judge them? I also overheard the lady, what I thought was, dealing drugs one time outside our window. We found out it was her birthday from her husband one time. We put together a little basket for her with a few items we had and went up to give it to her. Her reaction was priceless, as if she had never received a gift before. Anytime we had too much food that we couldn’t store in our mini fridge we would give it to them, and they were always so grateful. I really felt for them and we tried to share the gospel with them whenever we felt there was an open door. I also believed the lady had some kind of disease, because about once a month I would hear her vomit all night and then she would disappear for several days in a row and look different every time she returned. She also was picked up with an ambulance several times. We prayed for them and did care about them. We borrowed things from each other. We often borrowed their plunger and they often borrowed things from us. One time they would not stop fighting and were cursing at each other loudly, so Micah told them if they didn’t cut it out he would call the police. That night the guy came to our door and asked for all of his things back that we had borrowed, which was a giant old tv that we sometimes would watch dvds on from the library, and his plunger. This put an end to borrowing things, but we did still give them food. I still see them at the apartment sometimes when I drive by, and often think about asking how they are doing.
Our neighbor next to us, was an older lady. She was quiet and sweet as could be. She told us she never heard us, and I thought she must have impaired hearing, especially after we had the baby. She always greeted us, but she rarely got out of her apartment.
The other apartment had different people moving in and out. At one point a guy was living there that would never stop playing music. It was music with a loud base and bad words, and I couldn’t stand it. I prayed, and thank God, he moved out pretty soon.
We got to host my sister a few weeks after we had moved in. She had just gotten back from missionary work, so in my mind I had thought, “Surely our apartment will be better than where she’s been living.” But while she was with us the toilet kept clogging up. One morning she was using the bathroom and I had heard her trying to flush several times and after awhile she stuck her head out the door and said “uhh guys, my poop is coming up in the bathtub”. We all busted out laughing, it was hysterical. I had the best time with her. She stayed for three weeks, and I had never appreciated her company more than I did when she came. She helped me make our apartment homey, and we hung up pictures together. It’s some of the most valuable memories I have with her now.
Our landlord, Miss Charlotte, was also the sweetest lady. We experienced a lot of issues with the apartment, and would call her about it, every time she would immediately send someone to come fix it. We eventually got a new toilet, because the repair guy determined that it was too old and therefore clogging so much. We also had trouble with the electricity. Whenever we’d plug something in, the lights in the living space would dim really low. If we plugged more than one appliance in, the power in the entire apartment would go out. We became friends with the electrician named Terry, because he had to come over so often in the beginning😂 Someone gave us a huge microwave at one point, we never really used microwaves but we did use it for popcorn. Well one time when we plugged this beast in and turned it on there was a loud noise and half the apartment was without power and wouldn’t come back on. Terry had to come over again, but it took a few days before he could, so we lived in the dark for awhile until he fixed it. We decided not to use the microwave anymore, we didn’t really have room for it anyways. It was at this point that Micah got concerned about fire safety and collected all of our important documents in case there would be a fire😂, this was dramatic, but felt real at the time. Terry pretty much fixed most issues and we just didn’t use too many appliances at once.
As the months went by my due date was getting closer. Our baby was due on May 3rd of 2015. We were seeing our midwife regularly now, I loved our trips up to Atlanta. It was so fun to spend that time together. Paying for gas stretched our budget quite a bit, but I loved the drive.
What I thought was impossible became reality, our apartment truly became home. I started to feel safe and remember one time coming home after going grocery shopping saying to Micah “you know this really is home”, and he said “I was thinking the same thing”. I was nesting, I stopped volunteering at our church’ school when I was nearing the end of my pregnancy, and actually enjoying the isolation towards the end, and painted just about any piece of furniture that could be painted with cheap crafts paint. Most has held up amazingly well after all these years.
We lived close to the library. All I had to do was walk up a steep hill and there it was. It took me about 7-10 minutes. It was a great motivator to get exersice! I walked up that hill every day to connect my old phone to WiFi and I would contact Micah asking him what time he could come home for lunch. I also got to know the ladies that worked there as I saw them often. The library had a huge selection of Shirley Temple movies, so every day at 4 in the afternoon during my last week or 2 of my pregnancy I watched one of the movies and actually really enjoyed it.
At one point much earlier in the journey I temporarily had Micah’s phone, which had regular service. We thought it would be best for me to have his phone so I could contact him by texting the business’ cellphone. Well, one time his boss called Micah’s phone and I picked up. He said “is Micah there?” I told him no, then his boss said “ he just drove away in a customer’s car and I can’t reach him!” Just a few minutes later Micah arrived at the apartment and he came in and said “get dressed honey, we’re going to pick up some keys in Colombus!” (Sometimes if Micah had to take a trip somewhere his boss allowed me to come along with him). So I told Micah, “I just got off the phone with John (Micah’s boss), that’s not the business’ car, you took a customers car!” Micah’s eyes got big and he got back in the car and drove back to work. He had indeed accidentally mistaken a customer’s car, who had left the keys in their car, as one of the business’ car. He then from then on had to have his phone on him at all times so they could always contact him.
During these weeks, before our first child came into the world, I had a lot of victory in a lot of areas in my life. I got to a really good place actually before our child was born. I had no idea how my life was about to change, I also had no idea what kind of birth experience I was about to have. I will share more about this in part 3.

The coffee maker came to life as it brewed into the pot below. It was early Saturday morning, and you knew it was going to be a long day with Mer. With the dance disaster that happened last night, you weren’t sure how you were going to get her mind off it. You poured yourself a cup when you heard a knock on the door and went to answer it. Your eyes widened in surprise seeing Peter in a familiar silver suit holding a single yellow gerbera daisy. “Well...well look at you, Quill. Don’t you look dapper,” you commented as your eyes traveled over his body. “Are you about to make things right with a certain little girl?”
“A man can try, can’t he. I mean, if that's alright with you.”
“As hard and crazy as it may seem, it’s alright with me. Meredith comes first, and I know she wants you in her life, but right now, you might not be her favorite person. I know she will forgive you because she forgives those she cares about a little too easily if you ask me, but I’ve been there, too.” You gulped, glancing up and catching Peter’s eye. “You messed up, and she understands that, but don’t take her forgiveness for granted and don’t fuck it up again. Remember, you promised me.”
“I remember…..can I get your option on something real fast.” You nodded. “Does this suit look stupid?” He motioned to his suit, smoothing it out. “Be honest.”
“She’s going to love it.”
“What am I going to say to her?”
“Tell her how you feel like you let her down and how sorry you are. If you’re honest with her, she’ll be honest with you.”
“How do you know this will work?” He questioned, running his hand down his face.
“I’m her mother. Knock again and find out,” you winked, shutting the door on him.
A few moments later, Peter knocked on the door again, and you yelled for Meredith to get it. She charges down the stairs as you crept out of the living room to lean against the doorway. Meredith opened the door, and Peter smiled down at her on the other side.
“Excuse me miss, but I have a date with a lovely little lady today. I’m not sure if she’ll want to hang out with me after what happened, but I want her to know how sorry I am. I know I broke our promise, and I let her down, but I promise, I will never let it happen again. I’m sorry.” Peter’s eyes glanced at you, and you gave him a thumbs up. “What do you say Twig? Wanna hang out with your old man?”
“Is mommy okay with this?” She murmured, forcing Peter to crack a smile.
“Who do you think I had to get permission from?” Peter whispered back, leaning down to give her the daisy.
“Okay, Daddy. I will go get ready,” she giggled, grabbing the flower from his hand. She wrapped her small arms around his neck, pulling him in for a hug. Peter draped his arms around her and squeezed her close. You watched his expression change from worry to relief in a matter of seconds. Peter glanced your way with that boyish grin you loved, making you roll your eyes.
“See not so hard,” you mouthed as Peter nodded in agreement.
Peter and Mer broke apart. “How about you go get ready and pack an overnight bag. I’ll be here when you’re ready.” Mer squealed, taking off up the stairs. You didn’t miss the massive grin she had on her face, and you couldn’t help but feel excited for her. Peter stood up and made his way inside closing the door behind him.
“You’re right it worked,” he said, putting his hands in his pants pockets.
“You would've figured it out. It's basic communication.”
“Again, I’m sorry about yesterday.” You rolled your eyes, getting sick of him apologizing so much.  “I know my reason doesn’t matter because I still wasn’t there, but I wasn’t doing what you thought I was doing.”
“Oh, you mean you weren’t getting laid?” You narrowed your eyes at him, crossing your arms across your chest.
“No. Um, it’s the complete opposite actually.”
“So you were master…”
“No, no no,” He interrupted, holding up his hands. “That was bad phrasing on my part.”
“Then what happened?”
“I was helping Bucky look for his new puppy in the woods.”
“Excuse me?” You raised your eyebrows at him in question.
“Bucky and his wife got this new puppy from the shelter last weekend. She’s a black lab named Widow. She’s really cute, but loves to bite.” He shook his head, rubbing his wrist. “After they got home from work yesterday, they noticed her kennel had a hole in it, and she was missing. There are woods near there place, so after I got dressed for the dance, full tux in all, I figured I would help him look for an hour or two, thinking it shouldn’t take long.” You nodded as he continued.
“We split up in the woods, and one thing led to another, my phone lost signal, I climbed a tree, tore my suit, fell out of said tree, and then lost my shoe. My phone ended up dying as it continued to search for a signal and--” He pinched the bridge of his nose, squeezing his eyes shut “--by the time I found my way out it was too late. I called you right away once I got my phone hooked to the charger.”
“You fell out of a tree?” It would explain his disheveled appearance last night. His shirt was untucked and wrinkled. He wasn't even wearing his suit jacket, and his hair was all over the place. You couldn't remember if he was missing a shoe or not, but you were a little pissed off to take note of what was on his feet.
“Yeah, I was trying to find a signal to let you know I was going to be late. They do it all the times in the movies, so I thought it would work.”
“Guess not,” you breathed a soft chuckle, shaking your head. “And you got your suit fixed already?” You gestured your hand over his body.
“This...no no--” he pointed to his suit “--I had an all-black one on so I had to pull this one out of the back of my closet. It still works right? It’s kind of old.”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “Why didn’t you tell me this last night?”
“You seemed upset with me, and I didn’t want to start an argument over this. It was late, and I knew you were already sick of my bullshit. I wanted to wait till you blew off some steam.”
“Well, at least now I can cross off ‘kill Peter’ off of my to-do list for today.” You shake your head, scratching the back of your neck. “If this co-parenting thing is gonna work between us we have to be honest with each other even on our worst day.”
“Starting today, I will.” He held out his hand. “I promise.” You reached out and shook it.
“Did they end up finding her?” You asked, still curious about what happened to the puppy.
“Oh, yeah,” he smirked, waving it off. “She went over to one of their neighbors a few blocks down and was playing with their dog."
“When did they find that out?”
“Probably while I was in the tree trying to find a signal,” he chuckled, forcing a small smile to your face.
“I’m sorry that I assumed the worst of things when you showed up here.”
“It’s okay. I get it. I mean, after we broke up--” your shoulders tensed up as your eyes dropped to the ground “--I sort of went back to my old ways, but I’ve grown out of it over the years...sort of.” You nodded, not knowing what to say. “Why...why haven’t we ever talked about what happened between us yet?”
“Well, it’s…..”
“MOMMY! I NEED YOUR HELP,” Mer yelled from upstairs, interrupting you.
“I’ll be right there,” you called upstairs, feeling a sense of relief flood over you. “This shouldn’t take long."
“No rush. I’m hers all day,” Peter nodded as you went up the stairs.
______
Mer was ahead of you as she descended the stairs with her hand on the banister. Peter turned around, wearing a warm smile on his face.  It made your heart speed up, sending a tingling feeling to your stomach. “Wow! Mer you look like a badass princess.” You cleared your throat. “I mean an independent princess that doesn’t need a man to run a kingdom.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” she grinned. “I have something for you.” She pulled out a wristwatch from behind her back and handed it to him. “It’s so you won’t be late again.”
“Wow, I just got burned by my daughter.” He let out a deep chuckled, taking the watch from him and putting it on his wrist. “Thank you, Twig.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Who are these characters from?” Peter asked, studying the watch on his wrist.
“Paw Patrol. It’s a limited edition.”
“I better take good care of it then. It may be a collector's item someday,” Peter smirked, making you shake your head. “I'll have her back tomorrow morning.”
“Sounds good! Make sure she brushes her teeth, and get her to bed at a decent time,” You advised, helping Mer into her jacket. “I love you, Mer. Don't be too hard on your dad he's still figuring out the ‘dad stuff.’”
“I won’t. Love you, Mommy.” She gave you a quick hug before walking out the door with Peter following behind her. He stopped short before closing the door.
“I owe you, YN. Thank you,” he paused, nodding at you before shutting the door.
You smiled, watching Peter and Mer walk hand in hand out to his Jeep. He reached through the open window and pulled out a small clear container containing the corsage he told you about. Mer was jumping up and down, clapping her hands as he opened the container and put it on her wrist. Your heart melted, seeing a contagious smile on her face as Peter help her into the backseat. It was easy to see that Peter adored her, and he treated her like you hoped he would. You couldn’t help, but wonder what if. What if you had the courage to tell him sooner? Would things have turned out different? What if you never left him after you found the truth?
Throughout the day, you kept busy cleaning the house and doing miscellaneous things to distract yourself. Peter sent you pictures and videos of all the adventures they went on. He first took her out to eat breakfast at this fancy restaurant that looked way better than what you ended up eating. Then, he took her to get her nails done. Meredith must’ve chosen Peter’s color because he was sporting coral polish. From the videos he sent, the staff even seemed to be enjoying themselves. You didn’t miss the comment Mer made to Peter about her feeling like a cool princess.
You tried to concentrate on the book you were reading when your phone chimed with a new video. You opened the message and pressed play. Peter and Mer were wandering around an aquarium dressed in formal wear. Mer stood in front of a few fish tanks, mentioning how pretty all the fish looked. She saw a fish that looked like Dory, Nemo, and his dad, but she couldn’t remember his name. It was cute to see her flustered before she remembered it was Marlin. Then, he sent you a selfie of them standing in front of the tank together. A few minutes later, he sent another photo. Peter had Mer on his back, giving her a piggyback ride as they both smiled at the camera near a sign that said Jellyfish exhibit. A second later he sent a quick caption to this photo saying ‘Jellyman and Offspring.” You couldn’t contain the affectionate smile that graced your lips because it was too adorable.
After eating an early dinner, you laid down on the couch with a glass of wine and turned on the TV to try and find something to watch. You never knew how to spend your time when Mer wasn’t around, but you tried to keep yourself occupied. Your phone chimed, stopping it on a home improvement channel, glancing at your screen seeing yet another message from Peter. It was a picture of ingredients and a ton of sprinkles. Whatever they were going to make, it was going to end up in an absolute disaster.
A half-hour later, you received a video message.
“Tell your mom what we’re making, Twig,” Peter said, holding the camera at Mer’s face.
“We are making rainbow cupcakes with three different colors. Pink, yellow, and red. They are going to turn out so pretty and yummy,” Mer smiled into the camera before it switched to Peter’s face.
“Fingers crossed this works,” he said with a tight smile. “Wish us luck.”
You smiled at your phone, sending them a quick text to wish them luck. You finished off your glass of wine and went back into the kitchen for more. As you pour yourself another glass, you realized something. Meredith needed her dad in her life, but what you didn’t expect is maybe Peter needed his daughter in his life, too. If by some chance, maybe there was room for you in his life, too.
______
“Are you kidding, Nancy? Those cabinets with that countertop. You’re gonna regret that in a couple of years,” you shouted at the TV as you opened your second bottle of wine. Your phone chimed as the screen glowed.
“And action,” Peter commanded, removing his hand from the screen.
“Hi, we have finished the bake, and these cupcakes look yummy. Now it is time to frost and decorate. My favorite part,” she giggled. She started piping the frosting on the cupcake, but it came out too fast, and some of it ended up on the counter. She flushed, smiling at the camera. She opened one of the sprinkle containers and poured it on top of the frosting. “Sprinkles are the best part.”
Peter took a sharp breath in watching hundreds of sprinkles hit the floor. “So many sprinkles….” he gasped as Mer piped the frosting onto the next cupcake and this one turned out better. “That one looks great.”
“Thank you, but it needs the wow factor of the sprinkles,” she commented, pouring sprinkles all over the cupcake.
You heard more sprinkles hit the floor and couldn’t stop the loud laugh that escaped your throat. The camera flipped to Peters' face.
“I am going to be finding rogue sprinkles for the next month,” he chuckled before it stopped recording.
As your episode ended, you put your wine bottles in the recycling and grabbed some snacks. You plugged your phone into the charger by the couch, and it chimed once again. This time it was a picture of all the colorful cupcakes with a shitton of sprinkles on top. You smirked at the screen, hoping Peter didn’t feed her too many of those cupcakes before bedtime. Your phone dinged again with a video attachment.
“Alright, Mer. Are you ready?” Peter asked, holding the camera at an angle so you could see both their faces. “On three...one...two...three.” Both Mer and Peter took a bit of their cupcake at the same time.
“OMG, these are so good. I will bring a couple back for you, Mommy,” she grinned at the camera with frosting all over her face.
Mer seemed so happy with how they turned out, but when you saw Peter’s face, you couldn’t help but let out a loud belly laugh. His face was showing Mer how good they were, but his eyes were telling a different story.
“Yeah, so delicious, Twig,” Peter stated, chewing the cupcake slowly. “Not hurting my teeth at all!”
About halfway through the next episode, your phone chimed with another video from Peter.
“Daddy, what are you doing?” Mer asked, holding the camera up to Peter. He was digging through the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
“Got an upset stomach.”
“Oh no...are you going to be okay?”
“Yes. I’ll be fine. Can I see my phone quick? I see I got some messages.”
“Yup, here you go.” Mer handed it over with a smile, and you noticed another cupcake in her hand.
How many has she eaten so far?
“Thank you.” Peter turned on the front-facing camera. “Um...so those cupcakes are very sweet I got a major gut rot right now. I don't know how she was able to eat three without any problems. My stomach is like ‘why did you do this to me, Pete? We trusted you.’” He groaned, holding his stomach before turning off the camera.
“It’s called being a parent, Peter,” you chuckled to yourself. You always suffer the consequences when it comes to doing a project with your child thinking it will be fun, but then you realize it was a terrible messy awful idea. You switched to Netflix and picked a random movie to keep you entertained until your phone chimed. Expecting it to be another video, but it was a text message instead.
Peter: I am going to regret giving her sugar at 7 pm, right?
YN: She should crash from her sugar high once things settle down
YN: Might I suggest a dance party to get rid of the excess energy and a movie on the couch
Peter: Great idea
A short while later, Peter sent you another video. Like, every video you received today, you press played excited to see what they were doing now. It started with Peter pressing record and adjusting his phone on a table. Mer must’ve picked the music because Baby Shark was blasting in the background. You cracked a smile seeing Peter’s exhausted expression when the song started playing. It looked like he let out a deep breath before he started dancing around with her. They were jumping around and shaking their hips to the beat. Song after song played, and they continued to dance and dance. You could tell Mer was getting exhausted when she started dancing in slow motion.
Peter walked over to this stereo and switched to a song you haven’t heard in a while; You’re my Best Friend by Queen. Peter picked up his suit jacket and held it open for Mer to put on. She slid it on with ease, and it sat a few inches off the floor. She looked up at Peter with a huge smile, and he held out his hands. She stepped onto his feet, and he danced around with ease. It made your heart flutter with how much fun they were having together.
When the video ended, you could tell Mer was ready for bed. She was rubbing her eyes and yawning. You glanced at the time on your phone and realized it was almost your bedtime, too. You turned off the tv and walked to your bedroom. Your phone dinged while brushing your teeth and you see a text message with a picture attached.
Peter: Your idea worked ;) *The picture attached was a selfie of Peter smiling, and Mer was sound asleep snuggled into his side wearing her unicorn pajamas.
Peter: Trial and error right
YN: You’ll be an excellent parent in no time
Peter: What would I do without you
You shake your head at his response, feeling your face heat up. You walked over to your bed, crawled under the covers, and put your phone on the bedside table. Peter did exactly what he needed to do to make it up to Meredith. He might not have realized it yet, but he was already such a wonderful father to her.
Peter dropped Meredith off mid-morning with her cupcakes, and she couldn't stop talking about the day with her dad, even going on to say it was better than the stupid dance at school. All you could do was smile at how Peter managed to pull off another incredible date.
_____
AN: Talk about some cute father/daughter moments, and we were so close to hearing about there break up! Ugh! Maybe the next part will finally answer some of your questions! 😉 Thanks for reading!

Sooo @bluandorange posted this AU idea and I was gonna be up all night anyway doing work and other stuff so I might have drabbled some weird amnesia/Talon-sleeper McHanzo things. I recommend clicking and reading the prompt, because it’s juicy, but the gist is: Hanzo and Jesse in suburban middle America, reprogrammed by Talon to have no clue who they were before. But they do make some super-cute newlyweds! [Edit: There is now a Part 2. Content warning: brainwashing, memory loss, etc. -- I am more than happy to tag anything I have not thought of, so please don’t hesitate to ask.]
Edit again! This drabble became part of the fic Our Heads Are Just Houses, now up on AO3. Rated Mature.
James pulled into the driveway at exactly 6:45. It meant he’d beaten the traffic out of the office, swung by the store to pick up more dog food, and still made it home before dinner. Joel would be happy, and so would Delilah.
As expected, she greeted him at the door, bouncing around his legs as he made his way inside. He dipped to a knee, careful not to drop the bag on her, and he pet a hand over her yellow head. She was still a puppy, picked up when their neighbor’s pedigreed retriever gave birth after an outing with an outdoor mutt. She was frankly terribly behaved, and spoiled rotten. James caught Joel staring, stuck somewhere between adoration and frustration at the way James let her climb all over him.
“She’ll never learn to greet anybody proper if you let her get away with that,” Joel told him, arms crossed.
James grinned and got to his feet. “She has time to learn. Let her live a little.” He crossed to his husband, grabbed him by the apron to pull him in for a kiss, then shoved the bag of dog food at him.
“Mm, dog spit,” Joel said with a laugh.
“I will wash my face.” He ran his fingers through Joel’s beard. “You’re due for a trim.”
“I’ll think about it after supper,” he said, patting James on the butt to shoo him.
James sighed and went upstairs, and he pulled himself free of his tie and jacket. He hung them both with care, toed his shoes off and set them in his closet on the new shelf they’d installed. It still felt odd to wear his shoes through the house, but with Delilah had come some necessary changes if either of them wanted to keep any pair in good condition. In the attached master bathroom, he made good on his promise to wash Delilah’s saliva from his face, and he patted dry with a monogrammed hand towel. It had been a gift from a wedding guest; they bickered over who, exactly, but the person had remembered their choice to stick with the “J” theme. Their names together would have been “M-E,” which they both felt was inappropriate to commemorate a marriage.
He checked his own face in the mirror, wondering if he’d need to tidy it up. It got him distracted by the early grays in his hair, and he sighed. Joel called it distinguished, but he thought, not for the first time, about dyeing or trimming it, something to stop the reminder that he would indeed grow old. Back in the bedroom, he saw the wedding photo Joel kept framed on his side of the bed, and James thought he could handle growing old if it meant he’d do it with the man downstairs.
He made his way back to the kitchen, where Joel was humming to himself as he prepared their plates. “Can I help you with anything?” he asked, and Joel laughed, shook some of his hair out of his eyes.
“Can put that pan in the dishwasher if you wanna get started on cleanup. Maybe grab some forks for the table?”
James nodded and did as he was asked, moved to the dining room with the forks in tow. Joel set their plates down and tugged the apron off, disappeared back into the kitchen for a moment and returned with a bowl of salad. They ate together in the sort of peaceful quiet James loved, and as always, Joel’s cooking was perfect.
“It’s excellent,” James said with a smile. “No surprise.”
Joel beamed at him around a mouthful of salmon, which should have been disgusting but only charmed him. “Was lookin’ up a restaurant for for a piece I’m workin’ on and saw this on the menu. Thought it might meet your criteria,” he said with a teasing nudge of his foot. James had been on him lately about their health, surely part of his neurosis about growing older. “I’m breakin’ the rules this weekend, though. Karen came by today, invited us to a barbecue.”
“Hm,” James said. “She always seems to come around when I’m not home. Should I be worried?” It was meant as a joke, a nod to the curious number of middle-aged women in the neighborhood who could not get enough of Joel’s easy charm. Several, they suspected, were very excited to prove how enlightened they were by befriending them.
Joel laughed. “So worried,” he said with a wink. “Y’know, she asked me somethin’ today...” He trailed off for a moment, a flash of confusion, then he laughed at himself. “That was gonna be a funny story, but I can’t quite remember it. ‘M sure I’ll think of it later.”
James only smiled. It happened sometimes; Joel was a veteran from the omnic threat here in the States, had suffered a few injuries that left him occasionally spacey. “I’m sure,” he answered.
They talked about their days, though they had been boring enough that stories were difficult to summon. James was an accountant, a job whose details thrilled absolutely nobody, not even his husband. Joel worked from home writing a food and travel blog — though they hadn’t traveled much since they’d gotten married — and he picked up freelance work where he could.
A knock at the door interrupted Joel’s funny rant about an editor he was dealing with, and James excused himself to answer. “Tell the barbarians to come back when we ain’t in the middle of supper.” James smiled back at him, then swung open the door, Delilah at his heels.
Before him stood two figures in hoodies: a dark-skinned woman and a man with a face riddled in scars. Or, no, that seemed a trick of the lighting, the porch light thrown over the shadow of his hoodie. His face was smooth, cheeks only a little pockmarked. He stared, perhaps rudely, and they stared back at him. They were woefully out of place in the neighborhood, looked as if they were up to no good. He could feel the beginning of one of his migraines slowly forming behind his eyes. “May I... help you?” he finally asked, but he could feel the dull throb increasing, pushing across his forehead and back. This threatened to be a nasty one; perhaps it had been the salmon.
“Hanzo,” the man breathed out, a strange hiss escaping with it. The pain spiked, felt as though someone were digging needles between his eyebrows.
He shoved a palm into his eye, tried futilely to scrub the feeling away. “I’m sorry,” he grit out. “Now is... not a good time.” His vision felt blurred; it was hard to even look at them. “I must ask you to leave,” he said, still haltingly. He tried to close the door, and the woman’s hand shot out, caught it.
“The hell are you doin’? He told y’all to leave. I got no problem callin’ the cops,” Joel said, and the rest was a blur, James only dimly aware of Joel shutting and locking the door. He led James to the couch and dimmed the lights, and James heard him place a call to the police. “Prob’ly nothin’, but just in case,” he said, voice all apology and charm, pitched low to honor the migraine.
When it was finished, Joel carefully guided him up the stairs to the dark bedroom, got his ice pack and pills. “Lemme take care of the dishes, and I’ll be back up.” James nodded, then lay in the dark silence until Joel returned, trying his hardest to be quiet. James could hear every step anyway, could hear the creak of the bed with every movement, but Joel was forgiven when he offered the scalp and neck massage.
It was gone by morning, the leftover bruised feeling easy to forget when Joel’s gentle hand rubbing his neck sent a flash of heat through his body, ended with both of them getting out of bed later than usual. Over breakfast, they laughed, both embarrassed by the night before.
“I still can’t believe you called the cops on those children,” James laughed.
“Eh, punk kids should know better than to prank the neighbors. Whose were they, again? Looked like Don and Paulo’s, maybe.”
“Maybe,” James shrugged. He put away the dishes, packed a lunch, and he went to the office as he always did.

Silent Sounds Horror Stories Ep 1 ‘what my dog saw’
I’m not much of a believer in the supernatural. Nor did I ever think I would encounter it myself. I live in a small apartment where nothing really happens. It’s a college town so I mostly have college kids as neighbors. You would think that having them as neighbors would be noisy but they're either studying or sleeping. It's a  good spot for me, I keep to myself and don't make too much noise either. I’m the type of guy who likes the simpler things in life, I’m not boring I’m just quiet.
My mom is always telling me I need a girlfriend or something to keep me company as all my friends are online. She worries about me. I guess I can’t be too mad at her since that's just what mothers do.
As a way to appease her I decided to get a dog from the pound. He’s a small jack terrier and his name is Link after the popular nintendo game. He’s actually well tamed and doesn't bark often. I forgot to mention I have CCTV cameras around my apartment that connect to my phone. I’m a logical guy and it would make sense to have some around my apartment since I have a really expensive computer that I use and so when I’m at work I can make sure my stuff is safe.
A couple of months go by and Link has adjusted really well, one night while gaming late I heard a couple of footsteps rush upstairs. It was about 3 am so I figured it was some college kids coming home from a party. I was wrong, as I heard “POLICE! OPEN UP!”
Apparently they heard screams, cackles and a loud bang coming from the apartment upstairs.
Using my headphones I didn’t hear a thing. The reason I even knew it was the police was the loud vibrations from their feet running and banging so loudly.
I kept to myself but I was compelled to see what the commotion was. I open my door slightly and I can see the police mens flashlights clear the room. Then before I can just go back to gaming Link begins to growl and bark. He then runs out of my room and heads straight toward the upstairs door.
“Hey LINK! GET OVER HERE DAMMIT!!”
I chase after him to the upstairs floor and catch him. what I see next  is straight out of a movie. A huge pentagram is carved on the floor and candles are lit everywhere. Next to the floor carving is a covered dead body. My heart drops, as superstitions as I am this scared me to the core.
A police officer sees me
“Hey this place is off limits if you're trying to reach your floor please use the elevators.”
I replied dumbfounded “Oh no sorry sir I was just trying to get my dog.”
He gives me a look as to say ‘Yeah right you're here for the show’ He walks away and so do I.
Don’t look back, don't look back.
It was about 4 or 5 am at night as I laid in my bed. I know this since the sirens coming out of my bedroom finally stopped but that's not what kept me up at night. Something felt ugly inside of me, It felt like something heavy was weighing down my chest.
I didn’t sleep at all that night, my alarm went off my phone, it read ‘get your ass to work’
I pull up and my co-worker Sandra stops me “woah! You look like a dead dude.” she sniffs “you smell like it too? Everything okay?”
I reply softly “yeah I uhh.. My upstairs neighbor passed away last night.”
Her face changed almost immediately. “Are you okay?” I replied walking away “yeah i’m fine.’
I didn’t want to be rude but I also didn’t want to talk about it.
Work was slow, at least it felt longer than usual. I grab my phone to see my CCTV cam, I open my security app. I felt scared for some reason.  I would soon realize why, as I see Link barking at a corner.  He has never done this. My eyes widen and I start to choke up a little. It looked as if a dark shadow figure was in the corner of my  room. Link continued to bark when SUDDENLY BANG! All of my  food, pots and pans come crashing down!
Link yelps with his tail between his legs and scurries to my room. I click my other camera, nothing. Damn. I grab my coat and leave. Before I go to my doorstep something stops me. I’m frozen in fear. Move damn it!! MOVE!
I force my muscles to move towards my door. When I open it I see Link on the floor hurt. All of my stuff is on the floor as if someone broke into my house.
“WHO DID THIS!!” I yelled.
“WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!!”
Nothing.
I quickly go to Link and rush him to the hospital leaving my door open.
At the animal hospital they told me he had a couple of bruises and some scratches on him. They questioned me a little more and reassured them that this was not my doing.
I quickly rented a room elsewhere and decided to contact my  leasing office that I will be moving out immediately.
A couple of months go by and  I’m at work where I hear a TV report. It was all white noise until I heard it was my old apartment complex. My heart sinks. The person who had rented my apartment was found dead….
The body found  was unrecognizable as it was.. torn apart…  The cops on the news said when they entered the apartment, the walls were plastered in blood. It’s as if someone had painted the walls red. That could have been me.. I turn up the TV to hear more.
There weren't a lot of details since it was the news but I looked it up online.
One report actually had footage  and a warning sign above it. Do I really want to see this? No. I need to see this.
A video plays, The cops actually were holding back a lot of the gory details. As the camera pans around the BLOODY RED apartment walls, guts, and what looks to be an eyeball and some brain matter splattered across the same walls. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I felt sick to my stomach…
Later on at night Link jumps on to my bed and lays his head on my chest. I pet him as he snuggles deeper on my chest. My eyes begin to feel heavy as I drift off but before I fall to sleep, Link's head and ears stand straight up. He gets up facing the corner of my room. His tail changes at an upward position, I sit up and turn on my lamp. Link continues to growl. Those growls turn into barks.. He becomes Louder and louder.
I look to my night stand and see my phone. I slowly grab it and open my camera app. There I am with Link… and a dark shadowy figure standing right in front of him…..

Also nothing really important here, but isn’t it fun to talk about other people’s lives, Miles????
Commentary: Sounds like Kevin Stratton really loves, respects, and cares about his wife Connie if the only reason he doesn’t go get the pussy he is offered is because Connie will find out and it won’t be good (she would probably divorce him and take him for all he has), but at least she does the banking and her family cooks all the food you spend a lot of money on. You make them sound like pigs, not leaving any seconds for the one who pays for it but does nothing else but grabs a plate and dashes off like an asshole. Heh. Sounds like Connie and her family more than earn their keep from your bank, Kevin Stratton on the island. I REALLY hope Connie or her 42 people sees this and takes you for all you’ve got.

Miles Simpson <[email protected]>To:Kevin StrattonTue, Dec 11, 2018 at 8:21 PMHello Kevin, Saints started last week’s game against the Buc’s the same way they left in Dallas not good. Drew was terrible in the first half. We got a punt block in the 2nd half I hope you saw it and scored 25 points in a row. They will be on Monday night next week against the Panthers. Your Bears helped out by beating the Rams now the Saints are back in front. I don’t think the Saints could beat the Bears are the Rams again. We’ll see down the road. Walter’s ex-wife Donna was burned really bad last week. Not a lot of info other than she was in the kitchen. Somebody said a towel caught on fire and she tied to beat it out with another towel and it caught on fire and wrapped around her but I don’t believe that. I think she was cooking meth and kaboom. Her boyfriend just got out of jail for doing it. The VR glasses you ordered is it the kind you can buy games for and stuff like that? I picked up Ronnie today after his chemo trip. He looks 80 years old and skinny. I’ll get him next Tuesday too. Bruce dropped off Reggie this morning at 5:30 like always and when I got up at 7:30 he had shit in my room right in the doorway on the carpet and it was the soft kind that mashes into the carpet when you try to pick it up. Then at noon he pissed on the floor by his food bowl and when I got back from picking up Ronnie he had pissed again. It’s this Cushing disease causing him to be this way. I told Bruce this afternoon I’m not keeping him after this year so he’s going to have him put to sleep in a week. I’ve kept him now probably 5 years and I want to be free to go somewhere and not have to deal with a deaf half blind bi-polar dog. He was a good dog but he’s not himself anymore. Getting the smoker out tomorrow and cooking 10 lbs of quarters and 20 thighs. I wish they would put the pork butts on sell I’m totally out! I’ll buy 4 next time. Cook 2 and freeze 2. I buy my baby back’s at Walmart and they say Extra meaty and they are. I usually smoke 3 racks cut them in half and freeze 6 half racks. I’ll get a half rack out but can usually only eat 3 ribs before I’m full. They’re like $3.30 a lb but are good. There’s a show that comes on Tuesday night on TBS at 9:30 called The Guest Book. Tonight’s the 8th or 9th one this season. You should give it a try it’s pretty dam funny. It would be great if you could get it on Net Flix and watch it from the start. Later Buddy, Miles > On Dec 3, 2018, at 11:18 AM, Kevin Stratton <[email protected]> wrote: > > Good morning Miles > > Well I'm still disappointed about the Saints loss. They did not look like the same team at all. But they are still way up on every team in their division and I don't think that will change before the playoffs. I still hope for home field advantage through the playoffs but they better win out. I have always hated the Chargers so that was a bad game last night too. I did not get to see the last LSU game and in a way I'm glad as that is a bad way to loose.  I saw you had some bad weather last week in your area. You made it through alright? We have a new gas station close by my house. So now I have a sub sandwich place called Blimpie's, a Pizza Inn, coffee shop and a cooking place inside that makes local food plus a pretty big grocery store all inside of one building. They are also are extending the side of the building to house a branch bank for some banking operation not sure which as yet. So I might have to open an account there as it would be a handy place instead of going into town and stand in long lines. Not that I do any banking. I make Connie do all of that stuff. We had 42 people for Thanksgiving at our other house and hopefully not that many for Christmas but it might be close to that same amount of people. I don't do any of the cooking as Connie's brothers and sisters do that work I just pay for all the food. I just grab a plate and go. I don't get seconds as there is never enough to go around even with 2 turkeys and a spiral sliced ham and a pork leg. And 7 pies and two cheese cakes. Sorry to hear about your cousin as stage 4 is not that long to live. Is he on that Hospice's service? As they are free and they keep someone like your cousin pain free with heavy drugs like Morphine. See if you can sign him up as I'm pretty sure it is free even out in the country. Sorry about you dying for pussy as I could get you some down here. I get offered pussy from some girls I've known for years and they don't care if your married or single. They just want some sex or for you to throw some money their way. They call that country pay down here.  And there is still about 8 to 10 women to a man down here. And some of them look pretty damn good and are hard to turn down. But it is such a small community in many ways that it would all get back to Connie. And that would be bad let me tell you. The VR glasses comes with it's own screen and does not use a phone which I hope will work out to help me fly. I have my plumber working on the plumbing upstairs and the electrician doing a plan of his work so I can insulate and then sheet rock the walls. I still have to get my A/C guy to finish his stub out work before I insulate and drywall upstairs too. I'm doing the laundry right now and trying to fix a roof leak in my office as I keep chasing the water that comes in from the rain. Well I guess that is all that is on my mind right now. Oh we had 3 murders last month and none are really solved. We hear all kinds of rumors but nothing for sure. One was a guy who worked at a cruise ship store called Diamond International as a manager. That one might be over a woman from a ex-husband. And other one was a local teacher that had a partner running and owning a few taxi cabs and that had been arguing. The third one was gringo in the real estate business who I knew well. They had a memorial service yesterday on the beach at a big bar. I  went just to show my face but I hate those kind of services. His daughter came down to see about her fathers things. They found his glasses and blood on his stoop by his front door. As that looks like where he was killed and then days later they found his body and took that over to the mainland for a autopsy and they will cremate him and send the ashes to the daughter.  It might of been his next door neighbor who he was having problems with or a love triangle. Or the police killed him for something he saw and reported that the police and then they follwed him home and killed him but that is just another rumor. Well I guess that is all that is on my mind right now. > Later amigo! > k > >

Long Post - Hurricane Harvey
Ok so this is what happened:
Day 1 - started raining, water filled the street about ankle deep. Normal for my neighborhood. Steadily got deeper until about 4 am where it stopped rising. Nothing touching the house so we went to sleep.
Day 2 - woke up @ 10 to the water touching the edges of the doors, ankle deep when I stepped down. We started moving things higher just in case water came in the house. Sure enough, water started spilling into the house. It was coming in through the walls, guys. I have one pic of a small cable hole in my room just gushing water. The power went out and my phone got wet. We kept our dogs in their crates and put those on the couch.
When the water inside got to our calves my grandma and I started packing clothes in plastic bags. I even put my laptop in a trash bag then in the case, put that high up. I started asking the neighbors in 2 story houses if we could put our animals in a spare room. When nobody had room for them I had the idea to break into the abandoned 2 story across the street and set up a room or two for the animals. My grandma told me not to break into it cuz I'd get arrested AND my grandpa refused to leave so we tried to stick it out. The animals were put on top of the car in the garage. We tried to nap as much as we could but the water rose too much to sleep on the beds so we put pillows, blankets, and food into the attic. The men in my family being construction workers we brought hammers and saws up too so we could bust out the roof if needed. I. Could. Not. Talk. My. Grandma. Into. Leaving. The. Attic. Some 911 operator told her to go in the attic and nothing I said would dissuade her. The radio in the garage-car started emitting static so we knew the water reached the computer inside. My grandma started getting sick. She had cold and hot flashes, couldn't eat or drink, vomiting, and had diarrhea. All of our phones were low on battery.
Day 3 - As soon as there was enough light to move around outside my dad went wading/swimming (in sandles) to get help even with diabetic sores on his legs and feet. And I tried to talk my grandparents into moving into the vacant 2 story but they still said I can't break into a house. I said fuck that and cased the house anyways. The water was high enough that I had to tiptoe at the deepest point and the current was noticable. It was still rising. At the house I was prepared to bust out the front window but I went around back and the back door was wide open (so not breaking and entering). I went through the bottom part of the house and unlocked the front door. With our entry into the safe house secure I swam to a neighbor that has a small boat. He was super nice and when I explained my plan he was all too happy to let me use the boat. While he worked on getting the motor off the back (so we could pail out the water in it) I went back to my house and told my grandparents what I was going to do. My grandma was getting worse and my dad was still gone so my grandpa stayed with her while the neighbor and I worked on the motor. With water slowly rising we were working hard and I was getting more and more worried about my dad and grandma. 3 guys in a fan boat went by so we waved them down and told them about my grandma. They were in the middle of picking up a family but said they'd be back. The little boat was still not ready so we lifted it and shoved something under it so I could pail water while the neighbor worked on the motor. To my relief my dad rolled up in a huge army truck and started to help too. The fan boat came back and we helped load my grandma into it, too bad she took my grandpa's wallet with her but not her phone.
At the small boat we ended up just loosening the motor enough to toss it into the back and using it as is. My dad and I walked it right to our front door and loaded up two animal crates and some bags of clothes from the attic. We dropped that load off then went back for a blanket and some food and a crate of water. We locked up our house then hunkered down in the vacant one for the night. We were dry and the water was barely a foot into the bottom level (it was at least 3 and a half in our house). We let the animals out of the crates and fed them. I cut the bottom of my foot on a plastic hanger.
Whoever lived in the house before liked to make clothes and all of their fabric was kept nice and clean in a box so we had plenty of scrap cloth for the animals to nest in. We ate some and sat around. All we could do was wait and hope that my grandma remembered one of our numbers. Every phone was below 20% and that was dropping Everytime someone called or texted. It was almost dark when an unknown number called. My grandma's roommate at the hospital let her use her phone and we were able to find out she was at a Methodist hospital. We used the last bit of charge on my dad's phone to notify everyone, 3 phones left. We tried calling the number back later but my grandma was moved to a different room so we had no idea how to get a hold of her.
We grabbed quick snatches of sleep but with water still rising we were too worried to sleep long. A telephone pole floated by.. then a 16 ft section of fence parked itself in the yard. Around 10 pm grandma called again and told us the hospital was keeping her for 3-4 days so we were relieved that we heard from her again but her phone died (2 phones and 1 had water damage). My dad started showing signs of something wrong. He had a migraine and we didn't have his insulin if his blood sugar was high. We fixed the cushionless couch and armchair up for ppl to sleep on and used a bolt of semi-waterproof fabric so someone could sleep on the floor. We used our bags of clothes as pillows and slept off-and-on until morning.
Day 4 - my grandma's birthday when it was light enough to see around the living room we started making a list of stuff to grab from our house. The water had dropped half a foot so it was easier to get across. I immediately looked for medicine and the chocolate I knew would help keep his blood sugar up if it ended up dropping. We grabbed more food, more blankets, and other things that would make it more comfortable if we stayed (air freshener cuz it stank, litter and litter box for the cats). With 2 phones dead and the other two super low my dad and I decided to walk down to the gas station close by. Chargers, phones, and wallets were double bagged in trash bags and we set off. We walked about 3 miles only to find out that absolutely nothing had power. The emotions and stress that we had to handle only to lose the hope of contact caused my dad to have a severe anxiety attack. After it passed we got under the over pass and volunteers offered food and coffee. Both really helped warm us up and my dad got even warmer when someone offered a dry jacket. I went off to find some first aid for my dad's diabetic sores and someone with a car charger and a willingness to let is charge 2 phones. No luck on first aid but we were able to charge my grandparents' phones a little bit. We knew we had to get to my grandpa and make a decision; leave or stay?
None of the government affiliated could take us back in the neighborhood so we caught a ride in the back of a jacked up truck with some other guys. 3 of the guys came to my neighborhood from their dry, safe houses with river tubes. They only came out to play in the water. The truck dropped us off and we walked/waded 1.5 miles back to the safe house. The water was still dropping. my dad was determined to see my grandma on her birthday so we looked up the number to the Methodist hospital that we thought she was at. Turns out she was at a different hospital but they patched us through and we were able to talk to her through her room phone.
Knowing where she was and even knowing her room number we started preparing everything to leave. There's nowhere we could go with 7 animals.
I completely cleaned the one upstairs room with a door and set the main part of it for the dogs (shit ton of water and food, bedding, the works,) but the was nowhere secure for the cats except for the tiny closets in the room. We busted a hole through the wall that separated the closets so the cats would have more room (just one more to add to the 50 that house already had) set up the litter box in one side and their food/water in the other. I hated leaving them but there's nothing else we could do. Just as we got clothes and phones backed into 3 bags a big truck came up and picked us up.
We rode around in that truck for close to an hour then waited under the windy over pass for at least another hour. Someone let us charge or phones while we were there and 2 female officers held a tarp so I could change into dry clothes and shoes.
Eventually my grandpa was able to contact a work friend who could pick us up and take us to the hospital with my grandma.
Finally in the room with my grandma we charged our phones and started notifying our loved ones. Upside: we are safe and in dry clothes. Downside: there is nowhere for us to go now. There's noone with room for us so we're sleeping in small waiting room chairs and I'm constantly worrying about our pets.
Random tidbits
I was barefoot for the first 3 days since I was trying to keep my shoes wearable and I didn't feel confident that I could feel my way around our house with shoes on. I put on sneakers when we moved the animals because the entryway of the safe house was covered in glass.
I was wearing swimsuit bottoms and a tank top every time I went into the water then changed into dry clothes when I got out.
The water was over my head when we were transporting the animals.
Most of our electronics were safe when we left so they'll most likely be ok when we get back.
For some reason my grandma put uncapped cheese whiz in a clothes bag so some clothes have cheese on them.
One vanilla car air freshener seriously helps stinky rooms.
Even with all the stress and hardship I had it easy. I repeat:
I HAD IT EASY
None of my family has died or gotten seriously injured and my pets are probably safe. We won't have to replace most electronics. And my grandparents had JUST did most of the work on buying a house so we have a definite place to live within a month.

Entry 081719
Weird week.
I skipped therapy on Monday because I was planning on taking the day off work and doing something fun. I didn’t ask off because my manager was gone the week prior and back on Monday so I didn’t want to/couldn’t take off. Monday wound up being bad because Rachel kept Ty downstairs that night and he woke up and was wandering around. Our other dog Wolfie barks everytime he moves because he thinks Ty’s gonna steal his stuff, when Ty is oblivious and barely knows what’s going on and where he even is. So he got down at 2am and started wandering around and Wolfie started barking and then Ty started barking and they woke my dad up. And apparently Ty did this thing he’s done a lot recently where he poops, and then because he can’t sit still or go lay down, he winds up pacing back and forth and walking in it and grinding it into the carpet. So my dad came upstairs to just a ruined carpet at 2am. So he barely got any sleep. I woke up and came down to that mess and just decided to shampoo and clean the floor before I got going that morning. From there, the rest of the day and week was very quiet. I left the house very late and decided to try and find somewhere to go and get breakfast and watch wrestling, cause there was a big NJPW show that morning. I wound up going to Brandywine Creek Park right outside of Wilmington and then cutting over and driving up Philadelphia Pike all the way up to 202. I’ve literally never been up that far, and it was such a quaint cute little drive. So much stuff up there. The whole time I was listening to The Who doing Tommy Live at Leeds. I’ve been obsessed with Tommy because my dad did the Overture as his latest recording project. Nothing else really to report about the day.
Tuesday, I woke up with the idea to go to Middletown’s rehearsal first thing in the morning because they needed help setting up their sound system. But as I was waking up and going through my routine, I noticed the neighbor lady out cutting her grass. I knew it was going to rain and the grass needed to be done, and I didn’t want my dad to do it, so I got out first thing and buzzed through the front and backyard grass before I left. I didn’t mind too much. Was good empty stomach cardio. And my little dog was out in the backyard with me being good and keeping an eye on me, so it wasn’t bad at all. After that, I went down to Middletown to visit and give them Gatorade (a classic front ensemble instructor move). It wound up being a super easy fix for their sound system, took me about an hour. But it was nice seeing everyone and everything again. Saw Drew, Jaron, all the kids. They were a little sad I had to leave, so I started trying to make plans to come back next week for a few days. I drove out to the field to see the band director. The last time I’d had any communication with him, I sent him a letter quitting. The way I quit, I just wrote a form letter saying I quit. Didn’t say I wanted to quit. Basically gave nobody the chance to convince me otherwise. And he jabbed me first thing, which I didn’t totally appreciate, “Well if it isn’t Mr. Form Letter himself.” Ugh. So anyways, that was nice. Then I realized I forgot my wallet at home. Of course. So I went home during lunch break and then went home, and then ran out again to get something for dinner. I ran allllll around that day, it was crazy. Nothing else really again to report. Dad was fine, dogs were fine.
Wednesday was another weird day. I wanted to make dinner that night, so I left from work to go to the store, but hit traffic so I got home late. By the time I was done cooking and putting everything away and getting everything settled, it was like 8:30 before I finally sat down. They told us at work we’re getting an interim CTO to help with stuff, which is like the 3rd or 4th attempt to do something to fix our department. I’m hoping things get solved soon. I don’t want to quit. I really don’t. I don’t know how I’d fare elsewhere, because I can’t leave here, I need to stay here and keep supporting my family. But from what I’ve heard, there’s nary a market for developers in this area. I think things will pick up at work soon enough.
Thursday was another weird day lol. Dad seemed okay. It was another day where I’d planned to cook. I wanted to do cheesesteaks because the Eagles played on Thursday. But then I started making them and my dad said that he didn’t want one. That was kind of strange. So I made them and he went to bed around the same time I did. We both didn’t feel good Thursday. My dad said, and I agree, that I probably have high blood pressure because if I start doing something, I start sweating. And I think it’s just because of stress. I stress about everything. Around the house, every single thing I do, I have to hurry up and do before dad sees and goes off. Quick aside, when my stepmom lived here, we would go on day trips all the time to Hersheypark, the beach, etc. So that meant leaving all the animals at home all day. When we’d come home at 11pm-1am, after a 2 hour drive home, we’d tell dad to stay in the car and we’d run inside and start cleaning up the mess that the dogs had made because if he saw it, he’d lose his goddamn mind and start screaming. He brings that up and makes it seem like it’s a slight against the animals, when it’s him who has the temper of a child. So now it’s like, if there’s a mess or a problem, I have to try and fix it quietly and with no emotion before he sees or finds out and it becomes an issue that turns the entire house upside down. So for whatever reason Thursday, I just didn’t feel good. So I went to bed very early. Also Thursday, I stopped by the other school I used to teach to drop them off a case of Gatorade. I was way more nervous for there, but they were nice to me and seemed to miss me.
Friday was a plain day again, no real issues. Had a good day. A wrestling show I really wanted to go to had tickets released at noon and I almost forgot but on my way to get lunch, I remembered and managed to grab a ticket before they sold out in an hour. I ordered pizza and a salad for him for dinner. Things seemed well.
Then this morning happened. My dog woke me up in a manner she hasn’t in a while. When my dad used to take my sister to school, 9 times out of 10, he’d wake up screaming and yelling and when he took her to school, he’d be screaming and yelling and slamming things and banging around and if my dog heard that, she’d run and jump on my bed. She never gets on my bed while I’m on it except for when he’s yelling. So she did that. I thought for a second it was because she was thirsty or had to go, she’ll do that too, but this was different. So I went downstairs to my dad shouting about the dogs, cleaning up dog shit off the floor. My guess is that he took his dog upstairs, cause we let the dog sleep with him instead of me last night, and he was impatient because it was first thing in the morning, so he brought the dog upstairs and locked him in the laundry room and then the dog shit everywhere. So I cleaned up and took the dog upstairs. I was going to vacuum the pool but there wasn’t enough water in the pool so I had to fill it. So the rest of the day was calm. Dad said he felt weird all day, so he took a nap. Seemed to be in a fine mood. Around 6 or 7 I went out to do the pool to find he was out there and had already done it. Of course. Even though cleaning the pool kills his back, he did it anyways. I helped him finish up and brush. Then he came in (and I knew this was gonna happen to) and started screaming at my sister. Like really nasty. Being really really mean. Luckily in his rage, he didn’t swing to me. I came in and washed my hands and then went upstairs and changed my shirt and just closed my door and sat in my room listening. Like, this wasn’t the nastiest he’d ever been, but it was pretty nasty. And all things considered, nothing he said was wrong. She doesn’t have a job, isn’t even trying to do anything, spends literally every waking moment on her phone, fucks with the dogs too much, doesn’t listen to anyone, doesn’t try to get better at anything. But god, he was just so mean. When he has his bad days, he’s just the worst.
So I went to the store to try and get it off my mind. Bought some stuff, came home. Things have been quiet. I just wish that we weren’t all sitting on this damn time bomb.

The Monster of Ceder Hill
“This may be too big of a post and it kind of spans out over a good chunk of Texas throughout the years, but I don’t really get an outlet for these things so I will include everything with every detail as I can remember them. I would say the first weird, or remotely scary, things that started happening when my family soon moved here from Missouri, was in Cedar Hill.
For the first few years we lived there, everything was pretty uneventful. The area we lived in was a nice neighborhood and every house was in close proximity. Your pretty standard suburban neighborhood I would say. We started hearing really weird sounds around our house. Could have easily have been birds, but it sounded like a combination of an electric saw and a cricket chirp. It was so loud that it sounded as if it was coming from the bushes outside the window, but no one in the house ventured out into the night to see what it was. I am surprised if neighbors didn’t hear it. That’s how loud it was.
Also, my sister would often sleep in my room because she was scared of the dark and we would sit up and look out of the window toward the infamous radio towers of Cedar Hill. Especially during thunderstorms. One night we were doing our usual thing and I had decided to lay down finally and I noticed my sister wasn’t replying to me, or acknowledging what I was saying so I looked up and she had her head pressed firmly against the screen looking down toward the first floor. I sat up and asked, “What are you looking at?”
She didn’t answer, so I scooted closer to the screen to look where she was looking and noticed a shadow of something dash off toward the alley. A lady behind us had floodlights all around her house as a security precaution. Her son played for the Oakland Raiders and for some reason people would harass her or vandalize her home. So, there was plenty of light in our driveway, and even the side of the house, just from her lights. I didn’t see what it was, but it moved fast and the shadow that was cast on the neighbor’s house was almost moving like as if whatever it was floated off as opposed to ran. If that makes sense.
The next day, I asked my sister what she had seen and she described a weird creature she had never seen before. She said it had big eyes, fangs, and something came out of its mouth. YEARS later, I had stumbled across a book about Chupacabras and the image of that thing matched what my sister claimed she saw. I ask her about it today as adults, and she doesn’t remember.
Fast forward a bit more. Our house wasn’t haunted and I wouldn’t ever consider these next two events to be considered a haunting, but they are creepy. My mom had called me downstairs one night and called me into her room. I walk in and on her TV over and over it said, “Shawn did it. Shawn did it. Shawn Did it. Shawn did…” Her and my dad asked me if I did that. And obviously, I didn’t. I had no way of knowing how to do that on a T.V. Even to this day with me being way more tech savvy, I’m unsure of how anyone would actually input just text on the screen.
My sister, still sleeping in my room from fear of the dark, and I would sneak downstairs at night to get food and eat in our rooms because we weren’t allowed to do that. She had got upstairs before I did and again, like the window incident, she was staring at something in my room very intently with a look like “What is that?” on her face. I asked what she was staring at and she looked at me and said, “I don’t know. This thing with big black eyes was standing on your bed and then when it heard you, it sunk down and disappeared.” Needless to say, we slept in her room instead that night.
I don’t know why, but I never told my parents that. I think the last really WEIRD thing I can think of is one day during the beginning of spring when it was still cool enough to have the windows open, I was getting dressed and walking down the stairs. I was just about to pull my shirt over my head. As I looked to my right at one of the open windows and I saw the weirdest set of legs I have ever seen. If I could describe them. They looked like hairless kangaroo/ dog feet, but larger and more stout and bulky. Hell, like a Velociraptor. I would say they looked like that, but not scaly. It looked like skin. I was so shocked and taken back about what I had just seen that I ran and dashed down toward the window to try and see what the hell that was. I couldn’t see anything.
I jumped over the couch and ran straight to the back door. Our fence had blown down from a storm so whatever it was could easily just walk in the backyard. But nothing was there. I was too scared to go outside, but this was broad daylight and in a neighborhood. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Whatever it was looked like it had only two legs, but I never saw the whole thing so I can’t say it was a bipedal creature, but I have never seen legs like that before, or ever again. As far as Cedar Hill goes, that is about it. My cat one night was at the back door and when I opened it, he motioned for me to follow him and I also found guts of a goat from a nearby farm scattered all over the place in this small batch of trees close to the neighborhood, but that was about it.
As I remember. My friend’s grandparents owned some land in Blum, TX. It was about an hour or so south of Cedar Hill. We would go there often for Thanksgiving and get-togethers. One particular Thanksgiving my friend and I decided to visit the neighbor. This was a huge plot of land, but the neighbor’s house and property line were close to theirs, so you could actually see his house from theirs despite both properties taking up many acres. He had told us to be careful because there was a panther around the area. When he said that, he said it kind of as if he was unsure of what he was saying, but I didn’t question it much. We hung around and talked with him and his daughter arrived with her son and he took us up this hill where he and his brother would play hide and seek. We get to the top of the hill and there is a big opening within the trees and what looked like a bunch of dead fish hanging from a clothesline and small trailer home.
On his grandpa’s property. He said it was weird and he had never seen it before. Right at that moment in the tree line, we heard bipedal footsteps closing in on us. We immediately ran down a trail, further from his grandpa’s property. I had no idea where we were going, but I was the fastest and they were behind me following me. Despite us running in fear and potentially for our lives, my friend was screaming and crying that The Blair Witch was behind us and it was going to kill us. He was in tears crying. I, however, was laughing. Telling him that it wasn’t real and it was faked for the movie. “No! It’s not! It’s real and it’s behind us!!”
As I’m laughing I look down this hill and I see my friend’s grandparents house and I see our family and friends outside. So, we slid down. Dropped in said hello and went back to the neighbors. We told him what we had seen and he looked extremely puzzled because no one should have been up there on his property. On this same spot of land, down at the front of the property, was where my other friend and his family lived. He was tired so he left to go walk to his house and he came back shortly later saying that he thinks he saw that Panther. However, he said, “I thought it was a big black dog. It just stared at me. So, I turned back and came back here.” It was only a couple of years ago I learned that here in Texas many people had been seeing black panthers, but ended up being these things called “Dogmen”. I’m not saying my friend didn’t see a Panther, but he specifically said he thought it was a big black dog. I asked him about it a few months ago and he laughed through text said: “Oh, yeah I remember that!” I immediately asked him, “Were you sure it was a panther and not a doglike creature or something?” never answered me. He read the message but never replied.
The last incident on this property was me and my first friend I mentioned. (The one who was sure Blair Witch was gunning for us). We were outside, at night, chilling with our BB Guns when something with some sort of incredibly fast ability darted from some brush, into another set of brush. Almost instantaneously his aunt came out of the house and hurried us inside. I remember she had an attitude like she was scared for us. I don’t know why she did that with such urgency, but her timing was very odd. My sister spent more time there than I did. She said they always heard some crazy weird stuff out there.
Fast forwarding a few years. My dad had lost his job and ended up finding a temporary one in San Antonio. So, of course, we had to move. I read a story on here last night about this weird kid off of Hearne Ave in San Antonio and it reminded me of this. We moved next door to this one weird family. They kept to themselves and I think I hardly ever heard them talk. Their house looked creepy too. It was always the creepiest, darkest house on the block in comparison to the rest. Their son’s name was Nelson, and I only knew that because my sister met him at some point. But she said his dad made him go inside.
The kid wasn’t odd looking, but he had the longest hair I have ever seen any boy have. It was down to his butt and he was maybe the same age as my sister (12 at the time). One time I went over there to see if he wanted to come out and the dad answered and just like the story of Hearne Ave, their house was very dark inside and they only opened the door slightly. I hardly ever even seen them leave. I would see Nelson in the backyard sometimes playing by himself, but he never talked to me. I also want to note that I always heard what sounded like footsteps on my roof. Not on the ceiling, but on the roof. Of course, I never ventured out to see what it was.
The rest of my time there was pretty uneventful as far as spooky stuff goes, but we eventually moved back up to north TX where I now currently reside. The last bit of this involves, of all things, what I believe to have been a Bigfoot. In of all places, Benbrook. Benbrook isn’t a rural area, it has some woods, but it also isn’t deep forest like you’d think would be an ideal place for a Sasquatch. My friends and I would always try and go camping when it got cold and Benbrook was free and for a bunch of teenagers with no money, you can’t beat free.
The original spot we went to ended up becoming pay to stay and we just spent all of our money on hot dogs and booze to drink for our underage shenanigans. So, we found a new spot. My friend was gathering up some wood sometime after the sun went down and he calls to me in a frantic tone. He tells me to bring a flashlight and hurry. So, I do. I leave the rest of our group and run to him which was a short distance away. He had me shine the light way up into the trees. Way higher than 6ft. I asked what the deal was and he said “Dude. I swear I saw something large go from that tree to that tree.” The trees were small. Way too small to hide something large. They were too small to hide a child. So, perhaps whatever it was hit the ground? Maybe it even saw me coming with the light and dashed off? I’ve always been a firm believer in the unexplained and I am not above the existence of a Bigfoot. Gathering information over the years. These things tend to be a lot faster and way more agile than one thinks. They’re also not often far from civilization apparently. Benbrook is not far from Downtown Fort Worth.
If you get to the right spot, you can see Fort Worth. Hardly a deep forested place you’d expect to run into something as large as a Bigfoot. Anyway, back to the story. This new spot was actually pretty cool. So the following year we went back but this time a little further up than where we were. We had seen a huge shooting star and we all cracked jokes about how it was an alien ship. At this moment, we started hearing heavy footsteps in the tree line across the creek from us. Anyone who has ears can hear the difference in bipedal steps and something on 4 legs. This was clearly two legs. It walked around us as much as it could but never coming to the treeline within range of the firelight. It stopped and we never heard it leave. Whatever it was. A homeless person? Some kids? Could have been anything, but it was clearly on two feet.
That pretty much sums up my stories. I hope the post isn’t too long. I have many others, but they occurred outside of Texas. As well do most of the people in my family. I noticed on this site that a lot of stuff seems to be happening in The Valley (Donna, Mcallen, Harlingen). And guess where I gotta go for a wedding next year? Hopefully, that trip will be uneventful and flying humanoid free.”

EXO M when you are singing a lullaby to your baby
Tumblr media
Minseok
It had been a long hard day for Minseok but everything seemed to just float away the minute he stepped into the house. Finally he was home and he could relax with you. It was late so chances of the baby being awake were actually slim. Unless his teething was keeping him up again which was likely. You had called Minseok during his lunch break as was your tradition. It started when you two were just dating and kept on through your marriage. Now has become a video call because Minseok wants to be able to see you and the baby. You had told him that the little one was being cranky all day and was most likely teething because he was chewing on everything. Minseok made his way up the stairs carefully because he didn’t want to wake up the baby accidentally. He opened the door the nursery slowly so it didn’t creak. However when he heard you singing softly his heart fluttered like it had when you first met. He leaned against the doorway watching as you slowly rocked back and forth the baby breathing softly but his arm was waving in the air slightly meaning that he had JUST fallen asleep and it was quite time to put him in the bed. Minseok felt love for you both fill him and when you finally put the baby down in his crib he pulled you into his arms holding you close.
Tumblr media
“Hey. I love you.”
Lay
You two were visiting your parents who were spoiling your daughter like crazy. Lay tried to argue that she was only two months old and didn’t even recognize them yet! Your mother though just grinned at started to talk to the baby who then smiled. Lay groaned and conceded the point that okay the baby does recognize them but she certainly won’t remember the presents! Besides where the hell is he going to put a giant bear anyway? Your mother just waved him away knowing that he is just teasing. It was a busy day but it also gave him the opportunity to sneak away with you and get some cuddle time in. A year ago he never would of thought that he would sneak away to just cuddle but after two months of taking care of an infant who wakes up ever few hours cuddling is all you two have strength for. Of course cuddling turned into a spontaneous nap. When he woke up about 45 mins later he was alone and a bit miffed you didn’t wake him up. He went in search of you and found you in your childhood bedroom the three of you were sleeping in for the night. You were laying on the bed with your baby laying beside you surrounded by pillows so she doesn’t roll away. You were singing softly to her and rubbing her stomach softly. Lay could feel his heart melt and he moved to kneel on the bed too and smiled softly.
Tumblr media
“You really are an amazing parent. Even if you did leave me to wake up alone... “ You roll your eyes and throw a pillow at his face.
Jongdae
You had gotten your wish. You three month old son takes after Jongdae almost entirely and you couldn’t be happier. However your son unfortunately takes after you and gets sick easily. You had hoped this wouldn’t happen but after his second cold this month it seemed to be fate. He was fussy and  does not want to go down for his nap. You tried everything you knew to try and get him to fall asleep. In his swing he was content for a few moments but the second the neighbors dog started barking he woke up. When you wiped him down with a warm cloth it seemed to ease him but when you tried to put him back into in his onesie he grew restless again. You rocked him in the rocking chair which seemed to do the most in helping but he was still refusing to sleep and was now starting to cry because he was so tired. You remembered how Jongdae always managed to get him asleep with a lullaby something you never quite did because you couldn’t sing very well. But hey it was worth a shot. So you started singing to him softly still rocking back and forth. It worked your son settled and soon feel asleep. You kept singing just in case when suddenly the much sweeter and certainly better sounding voice chimed in. You looked up to see Jongdae standing beside you singing along. You both sang together even though your voice kept cracking and was not matching his pitch but it was okay. Jongdae smiled at you and you gently handed off your son to him so he can cuddle him for a moment before depositing him into his crib.
Tumblr media
“It’s a good thing I can sing otherwise our poor son will grow up to be tone deaf..” “Oh shut up Jongdae!”
Kris
Someone please save this poor boi from dying of cuteness overload. Today had been a great day. Every thing was going great from his morning of rolling over and kisisng you awake (and a little bit of other things too *wink wink*) and then collecting your baby from the crib to morning traffic actually being non existant that morning. His afternoon had gone amazing as well because he opened his lunch box to see the lovingly prepared lunch you had prepared for him along with a note saying you love him and hope he has a great day and even had a little hand print from your son on it. When he got home he had full intentions on taking you out to dinner as a thank you for the wonderful lunch but you were no where to be found downstairs. You car was still in the driveway and you prefer not to walk with the baby on windy days. That must mean you are upstairs in the nursery. He was already mentally adjusting his plans of taking you to just ordering in dinner from your favorite take out place when he could hear your voice drifting from the nursery. A smile spread over his face and he listened outside the cracked door because he knew the second he opened it you would stop singing. You claimed you had a horrible singing voice and no matter what Kris did he could not convince you that it was beautiful. He should know because he is the entertainment business, but you insist he is wrong. He must have been sitting outside the door for at least twenty minutes before he realized that you were rustling the babies blankets signaling you putting your son in his crib. He opened the door as you reached and it and pretended he wasn’t listening through the door. He didn’t want to embarrass you.
Tumblr media
“Oh hey baby! Did you put the baby to sleep already? How bout we order in tonight. You deserve to be spoiled.”
Luhan
Luhan was normally the one to put your son to sleep at night. He just had this touch that always calmed him and he drifted off into sleep no mater what. But this was not always possible because of Luhan’s schedule. He was a busy busy man so you would step up and take the reigns so to speak. Unfortunately that meant taking a full hour of trying to put him to sleep. It was never an easy feat and it didn’t help he was running a low fever. He seemed to getting in a front tooth so you anticipated sleepless nights for the next few months. Teething sucked so bad for babies and you were nearly crying because you could tell your little baby was hurting. You were pacing the nursery bouncing the baby in your arms rhythmically. You started out humming at first but you could never just hum and it always turns into singing which is what happened now. You started singing softly the lullaby you had heard Luhan sing at night. You knew it was nothing like Luhan singing it but you tried your best. The baby seemed to appreciate this because soon drifted off into sleep. Not wanting to wake him up you kept singing softly for a few more minutes and then gently placed him in this crib. You turned to see Luhan in the door watching you with a soft expression on his face. He was holding a plastic bag and held it out for you. You could see some teething medicine for the baby as well as the hard biscuits babies chew on to help ease the pain and best of all a new teething toy that you could freeze which would really help the poor little guy. You threw your arms around Luhan and kissed him in thanks. He pulled you out into the hallway and deepened the kiss as he pressed you against the closed door. You could feel his... appreciation for you growing as he held you close. You laughed and pushed him aside telling him to go put away the stuff he brought and to wait ten minutes then join you in your bedroom.
Tumblr media
“But Baobei I want to show my love to you NOW not later.” “Lulu I promise you will want to see what you will get for waiting”
Tao
Colic. Colic has to be the worst thing on the planet. It is something babies get when they get gas in their tummies and it hurts. They cry and flail and will not stop until the pain goes away. Do you know what is worse than colic? TWO babies with colic. Yep twins. Your beloved Tao and you had been blessed with twins. Not exactly what you had expected when you two decided to look into adoption but hey who could say no to two beautiful newborn girls. Now a month and half later you are questioning your sanity. Tao on the other hand was beside himself with worry when your beautiful daughters were inconsolable in their cribs. You recognized the symptoms and had Tao call the babies doctor for advice. The doctor suggested a heating pad and set the babies on the their stomach with the heating pad on the lowest setting and if that doesn’t work to try gas drops.  Tao immediately left to go get both the heating pads (yours had an unfortunate accident with a puppy who liked to chew things) and the gas drops. The girls were still crying no matter what you did so you called your mother in tears yourself. She calmed you down saying that this happens sometimes especially to babies when they are small and it is okay you are not horrible parents. She suggested the same things the doctor did and when you told her Tao went out to get them she said your father used to lay you on his chest and talk to you when you had colic as a baby. You thanked your mother and did exactly what she suggested. You stripped the babies to their diapers, discarded your own shirt and laid the babies on your chest with a blanket covering all three of you. It took a little of rearranging but the girls were still just small enough to fit nestled together on your chest. You rocked back and forth in the rocking chair and began to talk to them softly which then turned into singing because that is what soothed the girls the best. Miraculously it worked. You held the girls close with a secure arm around them and kept singing. You heard Tao nearly running up the stairs with the bag and watched as he stopped and stared at the sight. You smiled at him and kept singing softly the girls now falling asleep. He walked over to the two of you and ran a careful hand over their backs before kissing the top of your head softly.
Tumblr media
“I love you so much Baobei you take care of our babies so well. I could not of asked for a better soul mate.”
Okay so this gif doesn’t exactly match but think of it as Tao in a few years when one of the twins comes to see him perform
The plot addiction strikes again! So I tried to keep this gender neutral as possible and I also didn’t name the babies because I am not familiar enough with Korean or Chinese names to be confident in naming them. Both cultures have wonderful traditions and that extends to baby names. So I decided to let the reader think of a name themselves. Also in the name of being gender neutral I also had the reader and Tao adopt. I hope these things I did was okay and if you actually wanted a specific gender for the reader please let me know and I can do another one.  Also I got a little smutty on Luhan’s part but it isn’t quite NSFW. I will let the reader think further on what happened next. *WINK WINK*
Do you crave something? Send us an ask and we will try our best to deliver! We do reacts, fake snaps/texts, drabbles, and imagines!
BTW I adore babies like you would not believe which is why working with Prussia is so perfect! She doesn’t like something and I love it or vice versa! Lol
