the way matt creates these emotionally** flat??? characters who have family attachments to the main pcs and yet there's just something.... off about the way they display intimacy that it equally angers me, makes my skin crawl, and makes me just want to write extensively on what a master storyteller matt is. the way he presents just in this campaign alone, parental figures that on paper can easily be defended and rallied behind somehow especially if their choices played out more negatively than they intended*, and yet actually experiencing people who you, individually, care so much about in your life and who, you would just naturally believe, would also care so much about you, but there's a blip on the monitor and a disconnect that at first is so infinitesimal. until it's not. until you get bruised deeper and they look at you the same. and it's like there's no true empathetic connection. from your "loved one". it's not malice, it's not heartless or calloused, it's just.... it's surface-level and it's crossed t's and dotted i's and you know that they do not mean it to hurt you. but they also don't really mean it when they tell you they love you. and it aches so incredibly well done that matt will have these figures look into the eyes of their own and say the words and have a softness in their face, and yet have no genuine fierceness to the love they claim for someone who has so much love for them. and it's not a criticism, it's just so well done because it's such a nuanced relationship in the world and it sucks but matt always delivers it so perfectly

My mans, Disney single-handedly destroyed the Sequel Trilogy despite the Force Awakens being the gateway to something potentially fantastic; MCU'd the Mandalorian (a story which originally had nothing to do with the Prequel and OG Trilogy aside from sharing a universe and exploring a sect of a completely different culture/ideology); ego-boosted both Filoni and Favreau to the point where their OC Verse is not only canon but openly disregarding the Star Wars Universe Bible/Lore; gave us a snippet of what an extremely misunderstood indigenous culture is actually like (instead of portraying them as the savages one of the white leads mislabeled as animals that deserved to be slaughtered) only to then wipe out the tribe we got to know for no reason other than shock value thus alienating indigenous/poc viewers in the most disrespectful way possible; completely threw away the entire message of TCW (that being a clone does not make you incapable of being your own person who has their own thoughts, ideals, moral compass and overall identity) by making TBB (a show that does have it's strong points in set design, soundtrack orchestration and overall sound design, but is extremely weak on both characterization and storytelling because they either make the meaningful plot points stretch too thin or focus on the wrong character completely) their go to show marketed for kids instead of the actual kids programming that people shit on for being for, surprise, kids; constantly disregards valid critique from their consumers (to the point where infighting in the Fandom has gotten extremely ugly) that people either give up on interacting completely or simply vanish and take all their things with them (because no one seems to understand where these critiques come from, or how being unable to admit your special little show is imperfect is actually not a good thing for both you and others).

This isn't even accounting for the fact the Fandom seems to have doubled in it's overall toxicity since Disney took over. Which is par for the course when a mega corporation takes hold of something that started out extremely political in nature anyway. The Cash Cow machine needs feeding after all...

I do wanna throw it out there quickly that we know Shakky retired from being a pirate and the Kuja Empress 42 years ago at the age of 22, while Hancock took the throne 13 years ago (age 18), meaning the Missing Empress' reign/era lasted for about 29 years

And while we don't know how long the Kuja might've been without a ruler between empresses (like do they have a system set where they know who will take the throne next Immidiately After the previous one steps down/dies/etc, or might they spend years without an empress until they find a new suitable ruler?)

We do know that when Shakky retired, Crocodile would've been four

So unless Crocodile became The Kuja Empress at Age 4 (or unless the Kuja were completely without an empress for almost a decade and then gave the throne to a literal child), then there's no way Crocodile could be the Missing Kuja Empress

Rant incoming concerning fatphobia:

I find it superrrr vexing and distasteful whenever someone threatens me with the 'do you want to become fat' thing. I understand that since my natural body frame is being thin, it'd indicate bad things for my health if I do become fat (if you're naturally born big, then getting bigger probably won't mean anything too bad) but I just deeply resent the underlying implication of it all. Like ofc it's better for me in a societal sense to be thin, especially since I don't have a thick skin to negative comments at all, but like?? If you want to scold me in order to make me eat more healthily, just cite health reasons! There's literally no reason to bring up fatness!! What's everyone's deal?? Is it a crime to be fat?? Smh 💀

Some ppl act as if ppl automatically become ugly when they're fat which is just blatantly untrue. And in the first place I'm not even particularly good-looking so it's not gonna be the end of my world if I get bigger. Ofc if being fat negatively affects me physically and/or mentally then I think those are good causes for concern but at least lead with that if you're truly concerned about me for god's sake

DIDN'T KNOW #ABOUT THE DAY CHANGE #and she actually DOES work today (unlike me who does not which was my mom's og question) #so she CAN'T do it today #but my mom DIDN'T ASK HER #so now i texted my mom and am waiting for her to wake up and reply #bc our options are 1. hope it rains (bc my sister can't work in the rain so if it rains she gets off work) #or 2. everyone is going to be awake until 1-2am to watch the show bc it's 5-6hours long and we won't get there until like 6pm #or you know option 3. we just stick with the og plan of Sunday #but ill give my mom the options bc idc either way i have to be awake so night anyway #but everyone else watching Doesn't do they're opinions do matter here #anyway #I'm just so tired #this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME we make plans!!! #someone wants to make a change and asks one person and then that person assumes they also checked with everyone else #and they NEVER!!! ok finally talked to my mom about my chinese name... turns out she wanted to keep the same sounds not because she wanted to keep it or whatever for sentimental reasons it's just that if I keep the same sound then I won't have to change my middle name in English on my documents and everything... this changes everything

#just thinking thoughts... #I thought she wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons or whatever #like keeping me and my sister a pair or whatever #but it was just for the documents... #she says it would be easier not to be outed either. like if my family deadnames me #people won't find that weird because it's pronounced the same #but I dunno. I kind of wanted something different #like if I get deadnamed by my other relatives I kind of want the comfort of knowing it doesn't belong to me anymore #because they DON'T know me. you know.

saying do you remember [obscure snack from my childhood] to my mom and actually getting an oh yeah i can pick that up response is something that can be so vindicating

#for clarification i'm the only person in my family with a strong long term memory #my sister can't remember anything in detail before she was about seventeen #my mom can remember her childhood but remembers less of mine- she figures it'll come back in a few years #that's what happened with her own childhood anyway #my brother doesn't particularly have a Bad memory it's just not as good as mine #i had a semi eidetic memory before the development of mental illness it's a whole thing #my dad destroyed his memory with acid and weed but it is what it is #my auntie (not actually related but my mom's best friend) had a perfectly photographic memory before the surgery that saved her life #and that's one of my worst fears i think. to lose the clear recollection of events that i have now #alzheimers and dementia run in my family but luckily i have adhd which makes you much less likely to develop either #mer rambles #i Will just be talking about my family on tumblr.com in the tags
