Drabblecember - Movie Marathon
Tumblr media
pairing: Natalie x Ignacio Varga
summary: Natalie shows him one of her favorite movies of all time
word count: 567
author's note: i'll give y'all one guess on what movie i just rewatched recently
Tumblr media
“My lord,” Ignacio yawned, “How many movies do you know?”
“Too many.” Natalie replied with a straight face, “Okay, what's next? Holiday or Studio Ghibli?”
He shrugged, “You know more about films than me so I'm leaving it in your hands.”
She looked back and forth between the two DVD cases she held in her hands. The choices she narrowed it down to were Princess Mononoke and Home Alone. Her lips were pulled into a fine line and her glasses started to fall down the bridge of her nose a little as she focused. The way she was acting, anyone would almost think that she was making a life changing decision.
Ignacio reached over and pushed her glasses up for her, “Whatever you choose, I will enjoy, love. Or, we can always do both tonight.”
“Oh, I already planned on that.” She admitted, “I’m just trying to decide on which one we should watch first.”
He tapped the cover of Princess Mononoke, “I like the one with the wolf. She looks cool.”
Natalie’s eyes lit up and she excitedly gasped, “You’re actually interested? You’re not just humoring me?”
“No, I’m not.” He shook his head, “The wolf girl looks neat. I think I want that one.”
“Really??”
“I said yes.” He chuckled.
“Okay, okay, okay,” She practically fell trying to hop off the couch to get to the DVD player. With excited hands, she cracked the case open to pop the disc inside before nestling back in her spot next to Ignacio.
For a few weeks now, Natalie had been babbling non stop about having a movie marathon together. She even compiled a mental list in her head she swore up and down she’d remember when they finally went through on this plan. Then, this weekend crept up on them and Ignacio innocently mentioned having the marathon once Saturday rolled around. She got so pumped to show him her favorite films that of course, she immediately forgot the mental list she promised to never forget. So, they started from the top and just pulled movies off the shelf as they went.
Ignacio gestured to the screen, “So, our guy here…um, you know,”
“Ashitaka?” “Ashitaka, yeah. What’s his issue again?”
She lightly hit his arm, “Have you not been paying attention? He got cursed!”
“And…why is that?”
“The boar was cursed too and pissed off because of said curse.”
“Okay…” He said, not understanding at all, “So, why was the giant boar cursed?”
She nuzzled into him, “Well, you’d figure that out if you stayed quiet and paid attention!”
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her to him, “Okay, okay, I’ll be quiet now.”
Like he said before, Ignacio did find himself becoming involved with the plot of the film. He found the wolf girl cool and liked the giant wolves best. He never thought he would ever be interested in anime but here he was, enjoying it with Natalie. He silently thought about how if it wasn’t for her, he would’ve never realized he enjoyed these types of movies. She was right, binge watching movies together was fun.
The credits for Princess Mononoke rolled and Ignacio had to think about the plot for a little bit. It was such a captivating movie to him. He turned to her to start talking about it a little bit before she interrupted him with, “So, what’s next?”

Produce 48 Recaps: Auditions Begin (episode 1)
Tumblr media
When we left off in my probably-unnecessary-but-still-necessary Rewatch Recap of Produce 48, the 96 girls had made their entrance into the huge studio, and the judges were just about to reveal themselves. Let's get to it!
The judges come out!
First, it’s Lee Hong Ki, a powerful vocalist, here to teach them to sing. He’s from FT Island, and amazingly, was in the *second* K-drama I ever watched, You’re Beautiful, which was fun at the time, but which I cannot actually recommend. I will say that Hong-ki is the best part of it despite his, let’s say, broad acting choices.
Tumblr media
The character he played on You’re Beautiful was named Jeremy, and I can’t help but think of him as Jeremy. So just understand that I will be calling him Jeremy for the duration of these recaps. Thank you.
Tumblr media
Here he is as Jeremy. He’s ACTING!
Next, it’s Soyou, from Sistar. She was overshadowed by Hyolyn but is an excellent vocalist in her own right. She’s here to be the other vocal trainer.
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t be an MNET show without this asshole:
Tumblr media
I don’t want to learn his name but he’s that choreographer/dance teacher/ sociopath who always makes sure that all of the trainees’ mental health is hanging on by the merest of threads. I’m going to call him Psychopath. Seriously, fuck this guy. I’ll note that he comes across as sweet and loveable in this episode but I can’t forgive him for the shit he pulled during Boys Planet. Nope. Never. He has earned my undying hatred. To be clear, I do not support sending him hate messages or harming him in any way. I will just quietly, and personally, hate him on my Tumblr which gets maybe 5 or 10 readers.
And then there’s her:
Tumblr media
Bae Yoon Jung! She’s also pretty intense, and I know she’s mean to them on the first day, but she has the capacity for normal human empathy, as I recall. I’m going to call her Dance Bae. That doesn’t mean that I co-sign on her casual cruelty. It’s just that it’s literally her name and it’s easy to remember.
I don’t remember this lady:
Tumblr media
Her name is May J Lee and she’s also a dance trainer. She’s cute. Here’s to hoping she understands that the trainees are human beings!
Tumblr media
It’s Cheetah, here to be the rap trainer! God, I love her song Villain so damn much. The video is great, too, but trigger warning for violence. “I could fix you, but I won’t.” HECK yeah.
Tumblr media
And special one-day trainer, Kahi, who was the dance trainer for PD101 Season 2.
Kahi was in After School, then “graduated” in June 2012, right around the same time that Gaeun joined. They undoubtedly have spent time together, so it’ll be interesting to see if they interact much in this episode. (Maybe Gaeun being on the show this season meant that Kahi couldn’t really be the judge for the whole time?)
The judges glare holes into the trainees while explaining that they’ll be sorting them into groups -- A, B, C, D, and F -- based on skill level, with the ultimate goal of bringing them all up to A-grade. And now it’s time for these would-be performers to perform, and of course, they don’t want to actually perform.
41:50 The Auditions Begin
The girls are nervous. Yoon Hae Sol (윤해솔), 20, former member of Aqua, lets out a gusty breath. And this girl is nervous too, whoever the heck she is.
Tumblr media
Kim Chaewon, it says on her nametag. Well, she’s cute. Meanwhile I’m fascinated by the shoe behind her. WHOSE SHOE IS THAT? WHAT IS THIS SHOE?
The AKB-48 girls are even more nervous. Oda Erina, 21, in a stylish bob and a blue, yellow and white jacket is intimidated by the Korean girls. Mogi Shinobu, also 21, a living meme with blue furry sleeves, is so nervous she looks like she might cry. We love you, Shinobu.
Time for the first audition! Or at least, the audition that the editors have moved to the beginning of the episode, even though it was probably not the first one to happen in real time! Because they wanted to front-load excellent Korean auditions to emphasize the skill gap between the Korean and Japanese contestants!
Audition 1: Yuehua
Tumblr media
Kim Si Hyeon (김시현), age 18, in the long sleeved shirt, now a member of Everglow.
Choi Ye Na (최예나), age 18, with her hair in a ponytail.
Wang Yi Ren (왕이런), age 17, pink shirt with black edges. She’s Chinese and is now a member of Everglow.
We see a clip of the Yuehua girls back stage, where Choi Yena accidentally draws on the camera with red marker and then apologizes profusely. AND SHE NEVER WORKED IN KPOP AGAIN!!
Then we get a flashback of Gross Guy personally watching the auditions of all 96 girls prior to the filming of the first episode. He’s so gross. Ugh. He makes JYP seem like a sweet, safe guy. Anyway we find out that after Choi Yena performed her song, she asked to do an extra performance. She begins speaking in what sounds like decent Japanese and does a little miming routine with sound effects. She’s pretty charming, actually.
Cut back to audition day. The Woolim girls are backstage waiting for their turn when they recognize Sihyeon from her time on PD101, Season 1. Sihyeon interviews that she’s embarrassed when she looks back at herself on PD101 and that she’s gotten a lot better since then. In fact, as we find out later, she got an F in that season.

Song: Move by Little Mix
My Thoughts: They do great, in my opinion. Siyheon has a great clear, strong voice and her English pronunciation is mostly pretty good. Yena and Yiren don’t sing as clearly, but their dancing is great and they have a lot of presence. God, Yiren sparkles so much! I feel like she’s getting bad advice from whoever is around her now, because in more recent Everglow performances she always seems so muted. Seeing this, I can see she’s capable of great stage presence -- I hope she finds her way back to this. I dig Everglow and just want them to keep living up to their potential. I would have given Siyheon an A and the other two Bs, I think, though it’s hard without seeing the other trainees to compare.
The MNET Edit: The editing emphasizes Yiren and Yena more, but overall the editing is kind to all three. We see some of the Japanese girls saying “why is everyone so good”, almost as if this ISN’T the first team to go up. (Also, we see that other girls are already wearing their grade name tag, though they’re blurred out.) The judges give Yena an A and the other two get Bs, which I guess reminds us that as long as you *kind* of sing while you also dance a lot and are very charming, then…. you get an A. Anyway, A and B are fine.
The editors really want us to know that the Japanese girls are very worried about their auditions. It is true that they generally don’t have the training the Korean girls have -- I’m not commenting on their inherent worthiness, just their preparation. But the show really, really focuses on that. I’m sure at least some of the Korean girls were nervous too, but we don’t seem to be seeing clips of that on the show.
Auditions 2 and 3: Woolim and WM Entertainment
Next, the MNET editors decided to further confuse anyone who has previously confused WM Entertainment with Woolim Entertainment by overlapping these two agency’s auditions, same as they did when the girls entered the auditorium. Thanks, MNET editors! Thmeditors. We learn that Woolim manages Lovelyz, while WM manages Oh My Girl (their rivals), though now in 2023 I think we all know that Oh My Girl kind of won that particular fight. Apparently the girls view each other as rivals? ...? But do they, though?
Woolim is up first. They take a moment finding their places, and we learn that Eunbi is their leader/mom who brought them medicine and Japanese phrase books. What a good unnie!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Suyun, Eunbi, Sohee, Chaewon
Kim Chae Won (김채원), age 17   now: Le Sserafim   wearing a short sleeved white top, tie Kim So Hee (김소희), age 14  now: Rocket Punch  wearing pigtails Kim Su Yun (김수윤), age 17  now: Rocket Punch   wearing short sleeved black top Kwon Eun Bi (권은비), age 22   now: soloist wearing a tie, cardigan

Song: Ah-Choo by Lovelyz / Bad by Infinite
My thoughts: It’s always awkward when you have one member who’s 14 (and looks 12) and one who is 22 (and looks 25) -- they’re always going to sort of make one another look bad. But overall, this is actually a really good audition.  I watched it multiple times and didn’t pick up on any mistakes or bad moments. All four of them had kpop acceptable vocals that didn’t stand out as fantastic or terrible. Chaewon’s a tiny bit shaky on the high notes, but they are really high notes. Little Sohee’s dancing was less powerful than the others’, even during Ah-Choo, but that’s fine considering she’s so much younger. I did think they looked a tiny bit silly doing that super powerful choreography to Bad while still dressed to perform Ah-Choo, but the goal was to display different skills and they did that. Knowing how deep the hole can go, I think I would have given all these girls As or Bs, maybe a C for little Sohee. It’s hard to know for sure since it’s not always clear what is live singing and what’s the backup track.
The MNET Edit is fair. The rest of the trainees appreciate their performance.
Backstage, Lee Chaeyeon says Eun Bi caught her eye the most. I actually noticed Suyun a lot too, but her time will come later.
The judges compliment their synchronization and ask to see them perform something else. They launch into a second performance, which seems equally well rehearsed. I don’t recognize the song off hand (if any of you do, feel free to let me know!) but they do a great job with it. Dance Bae says, in an almost irritated way, “why haven’t you debuted yet? You seem ready to me.” I think she’s speaking mainly to Eunbi, who smiles wide at the compliment. We won’t hear their grades until later, but I’ll tell you their grades now, because I just love subverting the MNET editing monkeys. Kwon Eun Bi gets an A, ChaeWon gets a B, and the other two get Cs. Maybe I’m just biased toward Suyun from knowing her now? It’s hard to say. But I still think a B would have been fairer for her.
Next, WM Entertainment. The girls come out on stage and the judges immediately tell Chaeyeon she looks familiar. She acknowledges having been on Sixteen with Somi (2015) and on Kpop Star 3 (2013). She says that this time she really wants to show us what she’s got. The other girls are excited to see her dance.
Trainees:
Tumblr media
Lee Seung Hyeon (이승현), 17 now known as Riina in H1-Key, in the black shirt Lee Chae Yeon (이채연), 18, currently a soloist, in the pink shirt  Cho Yeong In (조영인), 16, in the white Link to full audition on Youtube
Song: Shower, originally by Becky G
My thoughts: All three of them do well dancing wise. It’s not surprise that Chaeyeon would dance well, and she certainly outshines the other two, but Seunghyeon holds her own and Yeongin doesn’t look bad. I think vocally, Seunghyeon does the best job, but Chae’s belted note sounded good. Yeongin’s vocals were noticeably shaky compared to the other two’s. I think I would have given Yeongin a B or C, Chae would get an A, and Seunghyeon an A or a B depending on what the dance teachers said. Overall though it was a good audition.
The MNET edit is again pretty kind. Everyone focuses on Chaeyeon, of course. When they’re done, the judges ask her to freestyle to Instruction by Jax Jones featuring Demi Lovato, and she dances in a style that’s really appropriate to the song. Everyone’s impressed. The judges announces the grades. Chaeyeon gets an A, which seems completely correct. The other two get Bs, which is ok.
The editing is setting Kwon Eun Bi and Lee Chaeyeon up to be rivals. Surely, they must hate each other, if they’re both good dancers and their agencies are on the same street in Seoul!
In the audience, Kojima Mako says to her friend, “It’s so amazing that I’m not even nervous anymore. Our friend Juri says to Shinozaki Ayana,  “I feel like I’m just watching a TV show.” Me too, Juri! We stan a relatable queen. But yeah, it’s more of the whole “the terrible, silly, weak Japanese girls are in awe of the mighty, powerful Korean girls” narrative that MNET’s editing monkeys keep pushing.
Auditions 4 and 5: The Very Pretty Girls
Next, we have the introduction of two Very Pretty Girls:  Kim Min Ju (김민주), age 17 from Urban Works, in her colorful striped shirt, and Kang Hye Won (강혜원), age 18,  from 8D Creative in a blue mini dress with a big pink and white collar. The other trainees think that these two girls look like actresses, so maybe it’s no surprise that now (2023), they are in fact both actresses. I renew my complaint from earlier that I don’t understand why certain girls are considered prettier than the others, and remind you that this isn’t an insult to them, as they are certainly very pretty, but more of a compliment to the others, who I view as equally pretty. Isn’t Kwon Eun Bi just as pretty? Is she not? I don’t understand. I will be saying that a lot in these recaps so I guess I’ll just call it my Particularly Pretty Problem (PPP) and leave it at that.
Agency:  8D Creative
Trainee: Kang Hye Won
Tumblr media
In a pre-show interview, they ask her such questions as “were you always pretty?” and she says that yes, she is. This is the part of kpop I like least. She says that the position she wants is 청정 or purity. I guess I understand that -- there is usually a sexy member of a given group (see: Kai in Exo, Hyunjin in SKZ, Joy in Red Velvet, Soojin in G-Idle) and there’s usually a funny or approachable one (see: Chanyeol, Changbin, Wendy, Yuqi), so I could see there being a sort of pure or extra cute one. It’s not as crazy as it might sound.

Song: You and I by IU (2011)
My Thoughts: Well, that was pretty terrible. There’s room at the bottom, but she barely dances and she only kind of sings. The singing is breathy, faint, and pitchy. The dancing is half hearted and my grandma could have done this choreo even after her stroke. She has negative stage presence. Also, to me, she always looks confused. There’s something about either her facial features or her expression that make her look bewildered. I’m sorry if she’s your favorite. She may have charming personality traits that I don’t know about yet. She’s just not particularly skilled in either singing or dancing. She should get an F.
If you can’t handle me saying that about this audition, then I really suggest that you just not read any more of my recaps because I’m going to say stuff like this about bad auditions. I don’t care if she’s “pretty”. I don’t care if she has gone on to be successful. Other people -- Eun Bi, for example -- are pretty and they can also sing and dance. I believe that if you make your living as a singer and/or dancer, you should be able to sing and/or dance.
The MNET edit:They don’t do her any favors, zooming in on her non-dancing and focusing on the judges’ reactions to her shaky high notes and nearly stationary body. When she’s done, she stands there with this look on her face, which is the way I always remember this girl looking and how I recognize her in her more recent endeavors.
Tumblr media
Dance Bae says, “Purity is all you have. F.”  Done and done.
Agency:  Urban Works
Trainee:  Kim Min Ju

Song:  No Matter What by BoA
My Thoughts: This was so much better than Hyewon’s audition. For one thing, she actually danced. She showed a variety of different actual dance steps, including legs, body, arms, head, face. She danced! The singing was extremely faint and I think a lot of it was the backing track, but this was leagues ahead. Without being able to clearly discern her singing, it’s so hard to tell, but I think I’d put her in C territory.
The MNET edit:They show the judges adjusting their ear buds and looking bored or put off, and focused on a part where she dropped into a squat and looked a little awkward. But that was just the dance move! This was originally done as a partner dance and it was adapted for a single person (I think? Unless it was just made new, whole cloth?), so maybe they should have just cut that squatting part out -- it’s not her fault. They also show a girl in the audience looking bored (maybe cut in from a totally different performance). It’s not kind. Minju, you deserved better.
They give her a D. I don’t know. Seems like they’re punishing her for being pretty. But maybe the singing was worse than I thought.
I’m not going to comment on it every single time it happens, but just assume that after every performance there will be a reaction/voice over from a Japanese girl saying, “If that didn’t get an A, I’m going to get an F for sure” or “the Korean girls are so much better than me” or something like that. It’s constant.
Auditions 6 and 7: The Punching Bags
These next two auditions are shown mainly to mock these trainees. Neither of them do a stellar job, but both deserved a little better than what they got.
We see a scrap of  the audition from Shin Su Hyun (신수현), a 22 year old represented by FAVE Entertainment.
Tumblr media
She’s performing Playing with Fire by Blackpink. I watched her full audition, but we only see a little bit of it in the actual show. She started off with rapping, which the edit doesn’t show; I think she’s going for a rap position, not a singing one, which helps excuse why her singing was weak. The dancing wasn’t great -- she was a beat or two ahead of the choreography (something I only noticed because I know the song so well). But I thought she at least had charisma. I think a C wouldn’t have been out of line, but I don’t know the rubric. The edit replays a part where she sort of does a chicken-dance wiggle during the chorus when that’s not quite what the choreo is like, but I had to go back and rewatch the original to see that the original choreo is different. The PWF choreography is kind of weird -- I’ve always thought so. What’s with the dogpaddling in the chorus, or that weird “drawing a line with your finger” at the end? Anyway, my point is that the edit makes her look even worse than she actually did.
They intersperse her audition with the audition of Cube’s Han Cho Won -- she’s only 15 here, but you may now know her as one of the most popular members of Cube’s youngest girl group,  Lightsum. The edit here make her look like a complete idiot. If you watch her full audition, you’ll see that, yeah, it’s not great, but there are some extenuating circumstances.
Tumblr media
The biggest problem is that the song was a poor choice. Red by Hyuna is a HYUNA song. Like a third of the lyrics are “red is Hyuna”, and there’s a whole 10 second segment where Hyuna just sits on the ground and flirts with the camera. It’s all about being sexy and having a nice body, specifically a nice butt, and the choreography is very core/waist/butt centered. It seems that Chowon just can’t quite move her body that way, and at 15, maybe just isn’t up the task of embodying the universal sex symbol that is a full-grown Hyuna. I don’t know who is!
Anyway, I think Chowon should have done Pepe by CLC, assuming she was going to stick to a song by a Cube artist. The song has a fun retro feel and it would have been more appropriate for a 15 year old who doesn’t know how to twerk yet. Or maybe Pretty Pretty by Pentagon -- I bet Hui would have helped her remix something for the show if the agency had asked him to -- he's a good sunbae -- and the song has quirky, funny choreography that might have made the judges smile. Sigh.
Poor Chowon -- it wasn’t a great audition, but I blame whoever either told her to do this song, or allowed her to do it if it was her choice. The whole point of having management is to get smart people to help you make decisions like this, especially when you’re fifteen. But that’s asking too much from Cube, I guess. Kahi even says that she had been at Cube briefly and that they don’t teach you anything, which checks out. Cube is just the WORST.
Both Chowon and Suhyun get a lecture on needing to learn (or review) the basics and both get a D. It’s not totally unfair -- it’s just that I know that there is so much worse to come.
More discussion about how the Japanese girls aren’t really given any training and just learn to perform by watching their sempai/sunbae/seniors. Dance Bae says it’ll be fun to watch them grow.
And now it’s time to see the AKB48 girls perform. We see that they’ve changed out of their entrance outfits -- those plaid monstrosities -- into different outfits, most of which are also monstrosities.
Audition 8: Get You!
See, it's a play on words because the song is called Get You and also MNET wants to get them
Agency:  AKB48
Trainees: Oda Erina 21, and Nakano Ikumi 17
Tumblr media
Erina, left, with the shorter hair and Ikumi, right, in the blue shorts.
The judges comment that Erina is known for her singing and Ikumi for her dancing.
Link to full audition on Youtube
Song: Get You! by Morning Musume (a different J-pop idol group)
My Thoughts: Well, this wasn’t terrible. They do sort of take turns either singing or dancing, and rarely do both at the same time. The choreography they do is mostly extremely simple and not super well synced, but they do throw themselves into it. They have a lot of energy, which I know is important in J-pop. If you asked me, “which of these is the singer and which of these is the dancer?” I wouldn’t be able to tell you. But neither of them assaulted my ears. Judged by J-pop standards, this was great. By K-pop standards, not great. I’d give them a C and see how they do learning the choreography for the signal song.
The MNET edit: The edit makes it seem much worse than it really was. Honestly, it wasn’t that horrific. They were more fun to watch than Kang Hye Won for sure.
The judges ask Ikumi to freestyle dance, which she agrees to with an English “Yes!” They play “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift. She tries to do a sort of interpretive dance thing, and I appreciate that she at least tried. She has lovely body lines and seems to understand rhythm and tone, anyway. They keep showing her trip a little on her platform sneakers. God, those things look hard to dance in. After a bit she seems to give up, pulling her hair over her face, and the judges call it. Her AKB-mates are impressed, but the judges aren’t.
Dance Bae compliments her on her energy, but says she seems to not know what to do with it. “I’m not sure that the fact that you danced to the beat warrants you having won first place in a large competition,” Dance Bae scolds. “If you keep continuing like this, you won’t ever be able to perform on stage.”
Ikumi gets a D, and Erina gets a C. We don’t actually see that, though -- I had to look it up. It’s not part of the narrative to see that neither of them got an F, I guess.
Next, we have a mini montage of various girls, especially Japanese girls, saying that Dance Bae is the scariest judge, known for her terrifying line: “You really want to be a singer?!?” Which I think is a fair question! So many people get into the Idol Biz because they want to be actors or tv hosts -- I wish there was a pipeline to celebrity for people like that that didn’t involve them humiliating themselves on a show like this.
Auditions 9 and 10: What’s Your Name and Knock Knock
We cut to another audition, in progress, with a caption that seems to imply that this is just a preview (“Coming up…”) but no, this is the actual audition, as much of it as we’re going to see.
AKB: What’s Your Name?
Here’s the original song being performed by 4Minute. Things were different in 2013 -- this was before Catch Me If You Can by SNSD came out so nobody yet knew that women were actually able to do intense choreo, I guess. But even for 2013 standards, What’s Your Name has easy choreo. I mean, it barely has choreo aside from just sort of bending over and displaying your butt. Also, the lyrics are three quarters “what’s your name/ ireumi mwoyeyo?” So it’s a really good choice for a rookie group!
Here’s their audition.
Tumblr media
Left to right: Manami, Ayana, Chiyori, Miho, Shinobu
Ichikawa Manami, 18, in the blue top, red skirt Shinozaki Ayana, 22, in the light blue skirt Nakanishi Chiyori, 23, in the pink fluffy skirt Miyazaki Miho, 24, in the sparkly top, navy skirt Mogi Shinobu, 21, in the turquoise skirt, fluffy blue sleeves
We just met Shinobu earlier, when she was talking about how scary Dance Bae is, got her name wrong, an apologized profusely. She's our living meme and we love her. We also almost met Miho; she was the one who knows how to write in Korean.
My thoughts: Oh no. There’s something so incongruous about someone in a sparkly cupcake skirt and Mary Jane shoes doing a pelvic thrust. These outfits look like… Ok maybe this is a deep cut but do you know those fashion plate toys? I had my cousin’s old one and I was obsessed. It was like stencils, but you had a head and a top part and a bottom part, and you’d choose one of each and then stencil over it to make a picture you could color.
Tumblr media
That’s what these outfits look like. Like someone went nuts with a fashion plate and glitter glue and then just brought it to life.
Tumblr media
Left to right: Shinobu, Chiyori, Ayana, Manami, Miho
It’s so hard to pay attention to their performance in those outfits. And the shoes! Those shoes I noticed behind Chaewon earlier are Shonbu's! And I’m obsessed with Ayana’s red-shoe-and-patterned-socks combo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Miho’s and Shinobu’s… furry… peplums? And the quilted skirts? And how none of the tops seem to go with any of the bottoms, even though they appear to be dresses? Question Mark? It’s so bizarre to me. What. Is. Happening. Each dress is awful alone, they’re worse together, they're even worse with the shoes, and they’re the worst in the context of this particular song, which is meant to be sort of swaggy hiphop.
When I try to focus on the actual singing and dancing, there isn’t much there to judge. The song itself is kind of a nothing-burger tune wise and there’s hardly any choreo to speak of. They have energy, I’ll give them that. No one strikes an obviously horrendously bad note or falls over. They manage to do what they’re doing in some reasonably high heeled shoes, and they’re singing a song that is at least mostly in Korean. It’s clearly not up to the standard expected from debuted Kpop artists. I feel like I’d have to see them in normal clothes to be able to really judge. None of them stands out as better or worse than the rest. I give them an E for effort and I’d probably give them all Ds. They were still better than Hyewon.
Dance Bae gives Chiyori and Miho both Ds, and the rest get Fs. (We hear Dance Bae saying that they all get Ds, but the on screen caption says otherwise, and my internet sleuthing agrees with the on screen caption.) I think, watching it back, that Chiyori and Miho got Ds for just taking on a big role in the performance and trying that little bit harder. Miho seemed to be the main vocal, sort of, and Chiyori was the center.
Ok, let’s take a peek at some of the youngest -48 girls, singing the Japanese version of Knock Knock by Twice.
Asai Yuka is 14 and from SKE48.  We met her earlier when she walked in with Jurina. Umeyama Cocona is also 14 and is from NMB48.
Tumblr media
Left to right: Cocona with the big bow, Yuka with the blue ribbon
My thoughts: Aww, they just little babies! They probably practiced by themselves in a hallway or something for a few hours with no help. There’s not much to judge here. They’re obviously underskilled for this show and would have to be given Fs but it’s not their fault. I’m not going to make fun of a couple of 14 year olds who signed up for an adventure, not knowing how hard it would be. I sense tears in the future.
I wrote that, and then watched Dance Bae give them both Fs and say, at a pre-show meeting, “I think these girls will cry a lot while they’re here.” Perhaps she’d be pleased to know that poor Cocona withdrew from the show before the second evaluation even took place! There's also some potential back story here. Per reddit:
From what I’ve heard (and I’m not sure how credible it is), Jurina and Yuuka planned to perform together for the first evaluation, but the producers wanted Jurina to do a solo, so Cocona got pulled from the NMB group [that performs Funny People] and her and Yuuka did this. That may explain why they did…particularly bad, to the point where it looks like they don’t even know the song.
That does sound like something MNET would do, and it also would explain how these two girls ended up in a performance together despite being in different groups (SKE48 and NMB48), giving it the ring of truth. So I'm going to be even more sparing of my criticism of the girls. They do come across as unprepared, but I think that's just because.... well, they were, through no fault of their own.
In any case, Cocona is one of the Japanese trainees who withdraws early in the process. It's probably for the reasons we'd imagine -- flying back and forth from Japan is taxing, and she's young enough to need to go to school still. She probably just wanted to go through so much stress just to get insulted and yelled at. Can't blame her!
Since we’re not going to see much of Cocona again, let’s find out what happened to her after she withdrew from the show. She went back to NMB48 and continued performing with them for a few more years, graduating at a special concert on March 26, 2022. She did some modeling for magazines in 2020, so she might still be pursuing that. Here’s her instagram -- she has 95,000 followers and seems to post influencer-esque content with lots of hashtags.
Tumblr media
Ganbatte, Cocona! Happy trails and much success to you!
10 auditions down, about 30 to go! Thanks for reading so far -- feel free to do all the things: like, reblog, comment, share, blah blah blah. Tune in next time when we continue the auditions, and stay warm, my friends!

My thoughts on Doom Patrol S4E12, Done Patrol:
Watched the last episode of Doom Patrol last night before going to sleep; I’m sad to see it go yet so happy it did last so long. I watched the first season with my dad and we both loved it, although he unfortunately passed before we could get around to watching S2. So watching and especially finishing Doom Patrol does bring up a lot of memories with him I’ll cherish which makes seeing this show go feel extra hard.
Anyways, onto the actual episode, spoilers are down below past the “read more.” Overall though, I really enjoyed the ending and will probably end up rewatching this show quite a bit through my life.
Getting some bad out of the way first, my biggest gripe with the ending is probably that the Doom Patrol split up entirely rather than just not being a superhero group anymore. I don’t think them as superheroes needs to last forever, although with how fucking much I love them being a found-family, seeing all their endings just completely disconnect with each other hurts. On an individual level however, I do think each of the endings for every character works well so I can understand why they did all break off.
Before going into specific endings though, first I want to bring up Immortus and the Butts. I don’t really mind that it’s resolved so quickly and oddly. If anything, I like that they yet again resolved issues in a strange way. Plus the fact that they resolved it so fast did give a lot of time to resolve everyone’s arc which I’m glad about.
Anyways, gonna start with Rita. While watching the episode and having her explain how she wants to disband the Doom Patrol and stay dead, I was both thinking and somewhat hoping that there was somebody pulling a ruse with a fake Rita ghost or something. I don’t know how the hell they would’ve pulled that off without feeling like “why the fuck would the writers even do this,” but I hoped just so the Doom Patrol wouldn’t fracture. I think her reasonings to want to stay dead though were understandable, she did live a very long life, she did end life happy and she does have someone to be with while dead she loved (I don’t ever recall hating Malcom, but I also don’t recall him much outside of “the guy Rita fell in love with” so I mainly just like the ending in Rita’s perspective). I would’ve loved it even more though if she got to stay with Laura.
Speaking of Madame Rouge, I think her ending was my least favorite since there’s so much shit left with her to explore. I want to see her try and resolve the pain of losing the Doom Patrol, I want to see her one day not hate herself so fucking bad. What’s actually shown isn’t bad, love her burning down the Ant Farm, but I want more and I want her with Rita! I really like that she was introduced in season 3, but if there’s anyone I’m not done with, it’s her. ):
Next is Larry. Love him with Mr 104, although I’m not really sure where the hell they would be going in space. I like that he still holds onto John and his memories with John. Him so enthusiastically running out without really knowing where he’s going was just so fucking sweet, I love him happy.
Then K(aleidoscope). I do wish she got to have some more development with her relationship to Casey (Casey in general I wish got more screen time), but otherwise I think her resolution was also good. Yeah some part of her feels like the biggest dork in the world wanting to be an artist, but she still wants to do it and does it. I also love that what she was painting was both a scene in the comics and a scene in the first episode with Cliff. I don’t know much about DiD, but I feel like for what they were doing with K, her being a ton of personalities all at once rather than just 1 personality lives feels fitting.
There’s also Vic who I almost forgot to write down. I do actually really like him though and I thought he worked really well for this show in general. I feel like his ending was already basically resolved in the previous episode though, so this one didn’t do a lot for him when we knew he was gonna start teaching with his friend. He feels as much a member of the Doom Patrol as anyone else though which I appreciate.
Lastly is Cliff. His death felt so sudden to me, although it overall was still so sweet for him. I imagine it would feel fucking awful for Clara though who hasn’t really gotten a lot of time with her dad. I think Cliff seeing a parallel between his life and Rory’s future (except Rory never gets into a horrible car accident and went through Doom Patrol shit) was really beautiful. There may be a ton of awful shit they go through, but they both end up okay.
Anyways, I’m sure there’s more stuff I could write about, but that’s just what’s in my head right now.

ok this is the rest of my big long thoughts about TLOK, and i’ll never do something like this for ATLA bc that show is perfect and i’ve never had notes though any rewatch.
anyways, i understand why LOK is structured the way it is, due to the back and forth nickelodeon gave the writers on the show being renewed etc etc. It’s clear they didn’t have a beautiful planned out 4 season arc to give korra as they did with aang, and you can’t make the bad guy of the season *that* powerful and unbeatable if you aren’t sure if the show is going to continue or not, but i got a little drunk the other night and thought of a way the show might have flowed better, with the content we’re given, without changing too many major plot points.
i like amon as a S1 villain. i think they could have made him not so obviously evil right off the bat. it would be interesting if he had worked with government to take away the bending of some of the more difficult prisoners in the nations. like the members of the red lotus that have to be put in those completely remote super prisons that take so much manpower to hold down. maybe they get their bending taken away at the beginning of S1 as a public act by amon to get support, but the red lotus isn’t mentioned much besides that, the seed for the next season has just been planted. amon is still defeated at the end as he should be, (i love him and tarrlok and their tragic daddy issues story) and then we move on to season two, now Zaheer/the red lotus season.
the hardest part of rearranging these seasons was trying to get Zaheer out of prison without him gaining airbending, but he’s clearly powerful without it, he can fight just as well out of prison sans bending. however, if his friends all lose their bending to amon, Zaheer would likely hear about it eventually. the guards, throughout ATLA and LOK, are notorious gossips. I believe that would motivate him to meditate deeper to try and connect to his buddies through the spirit world, like how Jinora can astral project around. maybe Ming Hua knew amon while he was still Noatak, or at least knew of him as a fellow super powerful water bender, and knew how skilled he was at water bending and could tell his “ability to take bending away” was a phony chi blocking trick all along, but needed zaheer’s guidance to unblock her chi and regain her bending. and now that she’s in a lower security prison, where everyone thinks she’s a non-bender, the guards are a bit more lax on allowing water near her. Ming Hua could break everyone out as zaheer did, and then the events of S3 (the new S2) play out.
i think unalaq’s season is good, sue me, plus his motivation to equalize the world with the spirits would be a good motivator/way for him to continue his bff zaheer’s work after he’s defeated. Zaheer started the work by defeating the earth queen, now unalaq will finish it by bringing true balance to the world. look at the earth kingdom now, it’s already beginning!
i really like the time skip at the end of S3, so maybe instead of being poisoned by zaheer, Korra still loses her connection to the past avatars and is simply desperate to try and reconnect. spending three years meditating and going to the spirit world, and visiting avatar temples all over the world. especially after learning about what a threat Kuvira is becoming, it’d become more pressing to at least connect with aang again. taking over the whole earth kingdom? sounds a lot like what firelord ozai was trying to do to the whole world, sure wish we could talk to the guy who defeated him about all this. plus, bumi gaining the ability to airbend? aang would be thrilled to know! Korra could still be led to the swamp to meet toph, still get some grumpy old lady advice to make her feel better, have a spiritual swamp vision of sokka perhaps, to get advice on how to take down Kuvira since he HELPED a LOT defeating Ozai, thank you.
it would also be more impactful if all the spirit world creatures and vines were just freshly brought to the world when kuvira decided to use spirit vines as a weapon that has completely unknown consequences. the newness would take the fact that the spiritual power was more dangerous than kuvira could even imagine, and really give it a punch.

Hi hello I am very interested in your thoughts on how 07 Raph was done dirty by the narrative, if you don't mind (I also just like hearing other people's thoughts on my favourite lad lol)
I would LOVE to ramble about this! Sorry for the late reply, I had to rewatch the movie so I could more accurately write a small essay in response. Anyways, Raph my friend Raph. Also Leo.
I guess my main complaint is that Raph and Leo are both framed by the movie as more or less equally “wrong” in their actions. They’re both arrogant, both hotheaded, and both completely unwilling to talk it out. So what all did either of them really do “wrong”?
Raph’s vigilante-ing is framed as morally wrong within the narrative, but no explanation is really offered. As TMNT, the group functionally operates as vigilantes, stopping crime and fighting baddies. When Raph goes off on his own, it’s really not the fact that he’s doing violent things that’s the problem. It’s the fact that he’s doing it alone.
When Raph is gone during the night, he sleeps during the day. His few interactions with his brothers are tense at best and downright hostile if anyone so much as looks at him wrong. And him neglecting to be around for his family has real consequences. Donnie and Mikey both have jobs to try to keep all of them afloat, to various degrees of bodily and mental harm. None of them really talk anymore, and the fault is largely placed on Raph. As Donnie says, “Your rogue attitude has always been a source of contention to this team”.
As for Leo, we see a lot of the same “problems” as with Raph. He functioned as a vigilante in Central America, he has a temper, and at the very least, a convincing show of an ego. He can’t interact with his brothers the way he used to because he’s been god knows where for a whole year. And again, his flaws are isolation and lack of understanding of his family as a result. And all of this culminates in The Rooftop Scene.
Oh boy, The Rooftop scene. So, they’re both kind of dicks in this scene. Understandably so, but it’s clear that the audience isn’t necessarily supposed to agree with either Mr. I’m Better Than You Leonardo or Mr. Anger Issues Raphael. Leo’s cocky, bitchy, and lectures him. But Raph is still dunked on for being angry, for having a temper, as if Leo isn’t just as bad. Donnie even mentions it earlier in the movie.
So what’s their beef with each other? Well, Raph tells Leo off for being smug, for coming back and immediately trying to take over as leader as if nothing has changed. He is mad at Leo for leaving, but doesn’t want to admit that things fall apart without him, so he’s angry at him for coming back too. His anger is completely justified in my opinion, but still framed as “bad”.
Meanwhile, Leo is suffering from an acute case of Eldest Daughter Syndrome. I could make a whole other essay on how Splinter treats him in this movie but I’ll make it brief: Leo is suffocating under the weight of responsibility, after having literally been told that it’s his job to fix the family, and wants everything to fall back into place. This obviously isn’t happening with Raph, so Leo gets pushy. He’s also of the opinion that regular human things should be left to the regular humans, while Raph thinks they should help whenever they can.
And then Raph leaves and Leo gets got, and the blame is indirectly put on Raph. He left, he was the one who ultimately “wanted” to be a loner. And as a direct result, his brother, having lost his swords in their confrontation, gets nerf darted and kidnapped. So Raph is framed as the bad guy at the very end of the confrontation. Even if neither party was necessarily in the right, Raph ends up being in the wrong.
In the very next scene, Raph confesses to accidentally leaving Leo behind. He directly says “I know there’s a reason why he’s the better son and I’m not” during this. Splinter gives him a brief pep talk, notes that his qualities could be that of a leader as well, but “only when tempered with compassion and humility”. Once again, Raph’s character flaws are front and center for this interaction.
And look, I’m not saying that Raph can’t be an angry little bitch at times. Of course he can! That’s part of why I like him so much! But his temper is framed as the guilty party, and he has to “redeem” himself in order for his arc to be complete. And his temper really isn’t the issue. Sure it’s not helping, but the real problem is both Leo and Raph’s tendency to isolate. And those qualities don’t come out of nowhere (side-eyes the previous movie’s trauma as well as Splinter).
They team back up, Raph saves Leo to “redeem” himself, they beat the bad guy, everything’s good! Except the fact that neither of their true problems were addressed. Sure, they’re a team again, but they never acknowledged the problem as both of their needs to be in complete control and completely independent. This could have been a fairly easy fix too, a short conversation where they both acknowledge their isolation at the end of the film would have sufficed. But they didn’t.
TLDR: Raph and Leo both got fucked over by their flaws being presented as anger and smugness respectively, when the true problem was their tendency to self isolate, which never got acknowledged.

Peak Time | episodes 6&7
So, another Peak Time round and I don’t know if I have a lot to say about this. Let’s see how it goes as I write this.
Vocal Battle
I liked all of the performances but none of them was really outstanding for me, they were good in their own accord. I understand why Group D won, their song had impact and IU songs are always winner in shows like this, specially this (remember how this one song secured Chaewon’s debut in Kep1er?) So yeah, it was good but nothing extraordinary in my opinion.
Rap Battle
Being honest the other groups didn’t stand a chance against Group B, they just didn’t. I don’t know why everyone wanted to perform Bag so much. It’s too recent of a song, it still plays everywhere so it’s hard to listen to it and think of the original version. And although daeng is a very well know song and this arrangement was very close the original, they manged to create a vibe that could make someone believe that this and they had soooo much fun. The redhead kid, I can’t remember his name, was really good for someone who never really rapped before (look, 3 months doesn’t count okay? The other guys had years ahead of him) and he didn’t feel like dead weight, someone the other member had to carry through the performance. Also, I think it’s really unfair when shows like this get slow rap song to be performed, as it hardly gets good results. With that said, Group B was amazing and deserved the win.
Dance Battle
Really, the biggest fight of the night. They brought all the guns out and were shooting to kill. I liked this part so much that I’ll mention each of them in my order of preference, from least liked to most liked (keep in mind that I know nothing about dancing, I just really like watching people dance)
Group A – their performance was fun, however it was weird how some members would just stand there during some parts of the song. They were the largest group and could have done more, I feel like, with formations. Everything could have been bigger, I guess.
Group D – I feel like they were thrown a curve ball with the song but they managed to still do well with it, I mean they were about to throw up after it ended. This performance was so good. Jun Hyeon (I think that’s his name), the center/leader, is soooo good. He’s, in my opinion, what everyone expects of an idol: he’s got the looks, has a good voice, dances really well, knows how to attract attention to himself.
Group C – I think this is where my opinion differs from most people. It’s not that I didn’t like it. It was good and everyone did a great job at it but I’m growing bored of the whole sexy thing to be honest. Everyone wants the sexy way because it’s usually the one who wins. Jong up did great, so did Hangyul and everyone else. This just isn’t the performance I will comeback to watch when I think of this show when it’s over, because it will just fall back as “another sexy performance from a reality show”
Group B – I love them so much. This is the kind of performance I will remember. They had fun on stage, they were hyping each other up the whole time and maybe it was like that of the DKB members (it probably was). I don’t even really had words to describe it. Everything I’ve thought to write seems small. I’ll just say this: when the performance was over I immediately rewatched it, and then again and again. No other group made me want to do that. They looked like an actual dance crew, unlike the other groups who looked like people that came together for a performance.
And that’s it.
Next week is eliminations and I’m scared. I want DKB to go through but I don’t know if they will, as only six groups will advance and they’re placed 7th for now. They have the benefit but so does a lot of other groups, and everyone who’s above them also has.
I’m also worried about Team 24:00, as one of the members was removed from the group/quit the show because of bullying allegations and they are constantly dropping on the ranks. They were placed 2th in the first week and then 3th and 4th and now they’re in 5th place, I think. I don’t know what will happen, if they get eliminated for what happened to the guy then that’s really unfair to them.
I’ll see you next week to talk about the elimination.
turns out I did have a lot to say

So I just rewatched the season finale and I feel like they are setting up season 10 for Voight to go completely off the rails and potentially end with him leaving/d wording/going to jail at the end of it. I just feel like with Anna’s death he really thought he could save her and he couldn’t and we saw with Justin how hard he took it and now he doesn’t really have anyone to keep him on the straight and narrow. Jay is trying but he’s still his boss, Trudy has some sway but I don’t even think her influence is enough to straighten him out. I’m not sure these thoughts even make much sense but you are the person who seems to understand Voight the most so just wondering if you have any predictions of where you think we are going next? (Also definitely agree that 21 was set up to be the finale and 22 the first episode of 10...)
Welcome to one of my favourite topics - how this fandom often misreads Voight’s actions and wants to see him in a negative light. Sit down, grab some popcorn. We may be here a while.
I think we’re being set up for Voight dying, and this is the start of it. The entire theme of the last season was home - Upstead’s home is with themselves. Adam and Kim have an awkward, sometimes uncomfortable family together with Makayla. Kevin’s stuck in no man’s land between being a cop and a Black man, and he’s trying to find his balance in both.
But Voight has, for the fourth time, lost a child figure. We know Justin was a twin but his sister was stillborn, there’s number one. He couldn’t save Justin from himself, no matter what he tried. He couldn’t save Erin. And now he watched Anna die and he couldn’t save her and Rafa. That’s three children who have died and one who he’s lost for good.
I don’t think he’s gonna blame Hailey for this - she’d already proven that she’d kill someone who put him in danger, it’s just what happened here again. But what does he have left? Just this unit.
I don’t think it’s going to be deliberate. I don’t think he’s going to go dark!Voight. But I think he’s going to take risks that he usually wouldn’t and put himself in danger that way. I always go back to his line to Antonio in season six “let the young guys be first through the door”. He’s gonna be first through. And he’s going to end up dying because of it. Probably the end of s10, after things seem to be going nearly too well. And it’s gonna kill me but I’ll love it.

Where I’ve been
Tumblr media
Okay so... I definitely owe you guys an explanation. It’s one thing to stop posting on one of my blogs. It’s another to do it out of nowhere in the middle of something, namely: rewatching/reviewing each episode of the series and writing Bey-Mong Us 2.
I’ve said a few times that this isn’t my main blog. My main blog, @overobsessedfanboy13 is a Yugioh blog, which is definitely the most expansive fandom of the three main ones I still consider myself a part of (Warrior Cats, Yugioh, and Beyblade). So chances are, if I’m not active on this blog, I’m active on that one and vice versa.
That’s the short explanation for my absence. The more detailed one is this: shortly after watching that Mist Mountain arc, a member of my extended family ended up in the hospital. I don’t want to go into any details, just know that she’s okay now. After she was discharged, my sibling and I stayed at her place to take care of her and her cat. During my down time here, I decided to pick up my viewing of Yugioh 5Ds, since I could watch that on my computer while Beyblade I really wanted to watch on my TV, since I wanted to watch them in high quality off the DVDs I recently bought. I finished what I wanted to finish of 5Ds (which was just the first two arcs as I’ve heard horrid things about the following arcs) during that time and when I got back home, started watching Yugioh VRAINS, which really really grabbed me. I’d go as far as to call it one of my two favourite YGO series.
I’ll be honest I started my impromptu Beyblade rewatch for a couple reasons 1) 5Ds was not grabbing me at all outside of a few stand out parts and 2) Beyblade is a comfort show and I needed comfort at the time. So to be blunt, I rewatched Beyblade because 5Ds bored me. So when I started a Yugioh series that did hook me, Beyblade fell in the background. That’s not a knock against Beyblade by the way. I still love the series, and will talk about it when I have things to say, but I’ve seen it plenty of times while VRAINS was completely new to me.
So now that I’ve finished VRAINS and am taking a more lax approach with the next series (Sevens), I’ve decided to return to Beyblade and pick up where I left off in Fury. I have a good enough understanding of Beyblade and have seen it enough times for the time gap not to be an issue. Expect posts about Fury very soon!
As for Bey-Mong Us 2, well, that’s a bit more complicated as it’s been a while since I’ve played or watched the game and I’ve been writing other stuff lately so I can’t make any promises about it.
TLDR: Yugioh sucked me in and I’m very unorganised and forgetful so I forgot about Beyblade but I’m back so expect some posts!

POST 8 - Celebrity Drama Rabbit Hole
Hi there! Today I am solo traveling on a quick trip to the East coast. I always feel like I should do something artsy like writing when I’m in an airport. Usually I end up just buying expensive snacks and rewatching Gilmore Girls. But there is something particularly dreamy about airports.
So, here’s a post to channel some creativity and keep my wallet from suffering. :)
One thing my hubby always falls for is celebrity drama. Hahaha I have a story. I hope by this point you have a general understanding for how this guy feels about modern pop music. So, normally I go to skip Justin Bieber when he comes on (except when I really don’t care what Dave thinks and I listen to what I want, which is most of the time haha) because he will probably make fun of it/him. Sometimes, the jokes are warranted – like when we listen to that rumble of a monologue at the end of “Purpose” (do you know the one?!) – but other times the jokes just hurt. Lol. Alright, this is so off topic, moving on with the story. So, SELENA GOMEZ comes on. “Lose You To Love Me.” A solid hit from a few years back. I casually mention that the fan theory is that this song is about Justin and he gets all intrigued – “they dated?”
“Ohhh yes they dated. And then stopped dating, then on again and off again. It’s a whole thing.” I build up some suspense. Then I hit him with a banger that I think slaps even harder than Selena’s original song. I YouTube what I feel like is the greatest mashup ever put together. “Sorry x Lose You to Love Me.” (A version is linked to the post so give it a listen).
I play the song and explain how they so perfectly fit together because it’s like they are actually singing to one another and it's magical and majestical and so riddled with emotion it’s crazy.
Dave loves it. I’m shook. But it’s not just the songs he likes. He starts asking questions about their dating history that I don’t even know. We start googling on this drive the whole timeline and different news articles and by the time we get home we have tracked every get-together and break-up and even whispers of rumors of them being seen together from like the start of 2009 to 2018. Then, I throw in the drama caused by Hailey Bieber and Dave eats it up. I have shoved him so far down this rabbit hole that I can’t even get him to come out. At home I start choppin stuff for lunch and he’s at the table finding Youtubers to explain to him how every move Hailey Bieber makes on social media is some kind of dis on Selena and how the Jenners are in on it. Apparently there’s some dance video and makeup tutorial video and… and soon I am asking him to give it a break! Like, woah, now I just wanna eat lunch in peace!! Hahaha. So, there’s one of Dave’s deep dark secrets that I just spilled on the internet, oops! but it gives such good insight into who he is.
Huge plus that you Swifties have probably already thought of. Selena and Taylor are like BFFs for life and I definitely told Dave that because it needs to be crystal clear who is on the “good” side of this drama. I’ll admit though I’m a little afraid to ever bring up JB x Selener again..
I’m thinking the next drama I should introduce to Dave should be the Taylor Swift x Jake Gyllenhaal drama as we’re listening to All Too Well (Ten Minute Version). Show him the music video too?? Or maybe to keep more current just throw Harry Styles in there. Ohhh yes. Endless potential.
*taps fingers together smiling cynically*

sorry to hear that. wow! i’ve always wanted to go to comic con! do you go regularly or was this your first time? and how was it? did you go full out with a costume? did you get to meet anyone?
how was the tour?
so you have been gifing for a while now. what was your first fandom? and what would you consider to be your “home fandom”? &do you have any favorite color schemes and fonts?
-psc secret santa anon
idk if you really like asks so if you want me to chill please tell me and i’ll only message you when it comes to your gift! 😅
Hi there! It was my second comic con 🤩 first one in the states though. Cons in US are such a huge thing, they're so well ran so as to accommodate so many people. Photos ops were so efficient like I've never seen Americans work this fast before 😅 now I see why smaller cons are better if you want to spend a little more time with your favourite celebs.
I didn't go with a costume, I just don't go to cons regularly enough currently to justify an expensive set of costume, but I do hope to do so one day. Met some cosplayers, they're really nice and the costumes are banging 😍
I went there to meet Ming-Na 🥰 she is the nicest person honestly, she takes her time, let you take selfies with her even though the staffs say no. The joy of meeting her is gonna keep me going for the next couple of years 🥹
The WB studio tour was amazing! Highly recommended if you're a fan of Harry Potter, DC or friends. And I've seen many of the shows mentioned in the tour too, even though I'm terrible at recognising anything. Learnt a lot of magic tricks used in sets, and now that I know just how damn much it is to rent in those studios, I understand why shows get cancelled all the time 🥲 I went to the Paramount one too even though I didn't plan to at first, I just had such a great time at WB. I would say Paramount is more for old Hollywood fans, there's too many movies I've heard but have never seen.
My first fandom was Castle (and it'll forever be my favourite show), it ran for like 8 years and was pretty much my life from elementary school till uni 😅 It was just something that I always looked forward to during it's run and kept me going all those years.
Not sure what "home fandom" means, but I started giffing on Tumblr with the show Agents of SHIELD (AoS) and it's sorta my home here on Tumblr. I've giffed that show so much I can recall most episodes while tagging other people's gifs (I'm usually really bad at recalling things, but it makes rewatched really fun though 🤣). How about you? Like what got you started in gif making and what is your home fandom?
Favourite colour scheme really depends on the show, like with AoS it's pretty dark and cool tone so I often go with blue & purple. I would say I like any colour but green 😅 I've had enough "trauma" with it, like I don't know how I always ended up on the green house/ team (no offense to team mixer I love you guys but I just don't vibe with that colour). Font wise I like a bold sans serif font and a fancy cursive decorative one for accent in those big gifs with text in the middle. Honestly, typography is a constant struggle.
I think asks are fun so feel free to send as many as you like 🤣

July 15, 2022
Sadly, it was my day to head home. On Friday I woke up around 8. I went out to the living room and Janell quietly told me about how hard the night had been. Grayson had skipped a nap when we were out and about for her birthday, and then gotten to sleep wayyyy later than usual. She said that he was up a lot of the night, with Janell and Steve. They just couldn’t get him to sleep, poor little guy. He worked himself up so much that we was sweating a lot, so they even ended up showering with him, to try to calm him. Poor Grayson! And poor Janell and Steve!
I was expecting to Lyft or Uber to the airport, across the island. So, I spent a few hours taking a shower, packing, organizing, and getting ready. To my surprise, Janell actually offered to take me to the airport. She originally didn’t want to, because on the way back home, she would be driving and not in the back with Grayson. She hadn’t driven much without Steve, and with Grayson. She was worried that he would start crying or work himself so much that he started to hyperventilate or get sick and choke. So I really wasn’t expecting her to take me over there! It was really kind that she was wanting to.
Around 10:45, we headed to the car. I drove us to the Honolulu airport, so Janell could be in the back with Grayson. It took about a half an hour, and I wasn’t anxious, which was nice! When we got to the airport and pulled into the departures area, we needed to switch drivers, obviously. One of the traffic enforcers was so rude to us about it! Ugh. Well, Janell and I hugged goodbye, but I didn’t even get to say goodbye to Grayson, since we were in such a strict loading zone. I was bummed, but I do think I’ll see him within the next year or so. I just love him so much! Janell drove off, to go visit Steve at work, as a way to break up the drive home.
I went through security (they didn’t even have a TSA pre check line, which I thought was weird), but got through quickly enough. I found my way to the Plumeria Lounge, by Hawaiian Airlines. I had to wait about ten minutes in line, but that was fine. This wasn’t a very fancy lounge, but I did have some food and wine. I had some chicken and noodles, and self service white whine, which I thought was kind of fun and weird. My flight was at 1:20, so around 12:45, I left the lounge and found my gate. I stopped at a gift shop and got a magnet and postcard—I’m glad they had them!
At the boarding gate, I talked to Mom on the phone a little, then had to put my baggage through an additional scanner, then boarded the plane back to Seattle. The flight was just under six hours. My seat was in the back, at the window, in a row of two. No one sat next to me, which was a nice surprise! This was a bigger airplane than the Alaska flight I had come in on— a row of two, row of three, and row of two made up the plane, with two isles. I caught up on some writing, and watched a few movies. I rewatched the movie Thoroughbreds, which I really liked, and a suspenseful movies called Breaking In. I also started the move Everest, which was really interesting, but sadly the plane landed before I could finish it. Hawaiian Airlines also fed us, which I was pretty surprised about. They gave us a sandwich, chips, and a free rum cocktail, which was fun!
I landed in Seattle around 10pm. Ingvar was supposed to pick me up, but on Sunday he really hurt his ankle, playing soccer. He went to play indoor soccer after golfing with my Dad on Sunday, and ended up (we think) spraining his ankle. He had been icing, compressing, elevating, and resting it all week, but it wasn’t better yet. He didn’t want to drive down to get me, because he has a manual car, so he would definitely need to use both feet. I totally understand! Mom was reluctantly able to pick me up (but she worked early the next day, so it wasn’t ideal), so I reached out to Tara earlier that week. Tara was able to pick me up! The plan was for her to get me at SeaTac, then she would drive us up to Camano Island, where my car was, and then we would stay the night there.
Tara picked me up, and it was so good to see her! And it was such a huge favor, I’m so grateful for her! Thanks, Tara! We caught up and chatted for the hour and a half drive north. Tara actually decided to not stay the night at my parents, because she really needed an early start the next day, in Seattle. Tara walked me inside and I showed her a quick tour of the house. I actually can’t believe that she had never been there before! Mom was sleeping on the couch, waiting for us to get back. Tara left for Seattle, and Mom went to bed. I had a snack and watched a little TV, but I was pretty tired, so I went up to my room and stayed the night at home. The next afternoon I went to visit Dad at the store, and then drove home to Ingvar in Bellingham. It was a great trip to Hawaii! :]

Hii! So you know how the hashiras went absolutely harsh on Tanjiro in that trial episode? I understand it was to make them trust Nezuko but I still get a little peeved everytime I rewatch the episode and see my babies Tanjiro and Nezuko get hurt.
So if it's ok with you, can I ask how would Sanemi, Obanai, Rengoku, and Uzui react if suddenly the reader (gender neutral) who was so mad at them being overly mean to these poor children even after they were provided the letter from the former water hashira, that they gave them a silent treatment after the meeting? Like the reader would ask someone like Goto (I love the guy) to talk for them instead of directly talking. They eventually forgave them after realizing they had their reasons, but they definitely won't forgive them next time.
Sorry for making it too long ^^; don't forget to take breaks! (oh and I absolutely love your lay out [ofc bc they're pink])
Hi hi anon!! First of all I am so sorry taking so long to get to you !! Omg I totally get that 😭 when they hurt Nezuko and Tanjiro I was about ready to throw these hands haha ToT and don’t apologize for making it long !! I really appreciate when I get as many details as possible for requests because it helps me come up with a better idea so thank you thank you <3 hehe thank you for the layout compliment! I love pink so much ToT but anyway, as always I’m very sorry for any mistakes!! Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to fix or change, I’ll gladly do so

Mans would definitely be beyond furious to hear that his s/o was siding with Tanjiro and Nezuko
Silent treatment was especially rougher and more noticeable because he was the one who instigated the whole thing
Though they would bandage up the cut he did across his arm since it was fairly deep and bleeding, it would be silent with neither of them speaking or anything — without the hum he adored and their gentle scolding about being more careful
Their face would be angered with eyebrows furrowed in the cutest way that it was enough for Sanemi to be a little less angry and a lot more understanding of why they were upset
He knew they had a soft spot for children because they were the eldest child of their family so he did feel a little crumby getting the silent treatment TT
They would walk around with Goto all day in order to avoid talking to him directly
“Y/n stop ignoring me!” He would yell with a growl
Goto would definitely be fearing for his life as he hid behind Y/n, “Hey Goto, could you tell him that I’m still upset with him?”
“L/n-Sama s-said-“
“I HEARD WHAT THEY SAID”
Silent treatment would last maybe a day or so once they had a day to meet Tanjiro and Nezuko and apologizing to them for the cruel treatment, as well as understanding Sanemi’s hatred for demons but it did make them a little sad considering how sweet Nezuko was
Would make it up to Sanemi with plenty of ohagi and hugs TT

Obanai was the one who was also hurting Tanjiro so they were really upset
“How could you do that to him! That poor boy was already injured and you were crushing him!,” they would yell at Obanai some and eventually start the silent treatment
He would definitely be a little taken aback considering that they were usually a really quiet and soft person and now they were yelling in a booming voice
Kaburamaru would be a little sad but would stick around with Y/n and be the mediator between them
They would sigh and kinda pretend he was invisible, “If only Obanai we’re here to receive some good ol hugs,” they would say sweetly to kaburamaru as they delicately pet his head
Though eventually Obanai would hug them from behind as a sort of apology though he didn’t say those words
mans was just constantly skeptical and untrusting of demons because of his past which they understood

Uzui participated by basically encouraging Obanai to hurt Tanjiro TT
Hearing the “hah his veins bursting! How flamboyant!” Made Y/n’s blood boil because how could he say that to Tanjiro ToT homie is just tryna save his sister
After the meeting, he would put his arm around their shoulders like usual until they pushed him away
“How could you do that to Tanjiro, Uzui! Instead of helping him you only encouraged Iguro to hurt him?!” They would yell
He would give a pensive look, “What? It was really flamboyant!”
“Hmph! I’m not talking to you,” they would cross their arms and walk away from him
Oh my dear god giving this man the silent treatment
“OH YEAH WELL I CAN PLAY AT THAT GAME” he would cross his arms and walk beside them
“IM GONNA SILENCE YOU SO HARD YOURE GONNA THINK YOURE IN A LIBRARY” he would get super close to their ear but it was as if they tuned him out entirely
“YOURE GONNA HEAR PINS DROPPING” he would say as he tried to block their pathing but they were so good at evading him TT
“Hm? Goto? Did you hear something just now?” They would say to the closest Kakushi before they were ordered to take Tanjiro to the butterfly mansion
Uzui would do all sorts of pestering even picking them up and yet they remained unbothered
Until about a day or so then they finally came around and boom forgiveness but he was required to do many acts of kindness to make up for it

𝑹𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒐𝒌𝒖
Oh no it hurt to give him the silent treatment TT
Imagine stepping on a puppy — that’s what that was — and because of that the silent treatment would not last long TT
But it also hurt their feelings that he didn’t stop the other Hashira from hurting Tanjiro or Nezuko even after hearing Tanjiro’s pleas and the letter from Urokodaki
Rengoku would look at them with some hurt in his eyes but with the same smile, “It’s our mission to exterminate demons, my dear. We are hashira, we have to defeat them.”
“Yes I know! But that poor boy, he’s been through so much and you all actively hurt his last family member,” they felt their eyes water
He would apologize after seeing how much it hurt them and a really warm hug, his forehead pressed against theirs
After a nice cup of tea together they reconciled and no more silent treatment

BUFFY REWATCH - S04E04 - Fear Itself
Willow: “I’ve got the basics down – levitation, charms, glamours. I just feel like I’ve plateaued wicca-wise.”
Buffy: “What’s the next level?”
Willow: “Transmutation, conjuring, bringing forth something from nothing. Gets pretty close to the primal forces. A little scary.”
Buffy: “Well, no one’s pushing. You know, if it’s too much, don’t do it.”
Willow: “Don’t do it? What kind of encouragement is *that*?”
Buffy: “This is an ‘encouragement’ talk? I thought it was ‘share my pain’.”
Willow: “I don’t know. Then again, what is college for if not experimenting? You know, maybe I can handle it. I’ll know when I’ve reached my limit.”
Oz: “Wine coolers?”
Buffy: “Magic.”
Oz: “Ooh, you didn’t encourage her, did you?”
Willow: “Where is supportive boyfriend guy?”
Oz: “He’s picking up your dry cleaning, but he told me to tell you that he’s afraid you’re gonna get hurt.”
Willow: “Okay, Brutus. Brutus – Caesar? Betrayal – trusted friend? Back stabby?”
Oz: “Oh, I’m with you on the reference, but – I won’t lie about the fact that I worry. I know what it’s like to have power you can’t control. I mean, every time I start to wolf out, I touch something – deep – dark. It’s not fun. But just know that whatever you decide, I back your play.”
Buffy: “See? Concerned boy, sweet boy.”
Willow: “I kinda like him worrying anyway.”
Everybody's starting to get worried now about how far Willow's going with the Magicks and how much she's invested in it and wants to use it. Oz - being the most concerned at this point - tries to explain from his perspective what it's like to have power he can't control. But it's not the same so it's not registering in Willow's mind why it's so dangerous to use the Magicks for her specifically.
With Oz, he literally cannot control turning into a werewolf and "wolfing" out. But Willow has a choice. Willow can choose how far she wants to go with it. What she can handle, what she can't. But the problem is that she doesn't really want to "handle" it. She wants to take it as far as she can. And she will. And this is why she needs a grounding influence that understands what it's like to have power you can't control from HER perspective. From being a witch.
And that's what Tara is all about.
That's what Tara becomes for Willow when she starts to get out of control. A grounding influence. A moral compass. Her being a witch, one that has great respect for the forces of nature, and one that knows what she can handle and what she can't. That's significant.
Oz couldn't be that for Willow. Giles couldn't. Buffy couldn't. Xander couldn't. Amy could have. But she ends up as a negative influence on Willow with this instead. And of course Willow didn't love her so she wouldn't have listened to her if she was a good influence anyway. Tara was it. Tara was what Oz tried to be, wanted to be, but couldn't be because his condition with turning into a werewolf 3 days out of the month was not the same. He couldn't relate and therefore couldn't get through to Willow.
For Willow, it's not a condition. It's not something she doesn't have control over. Not yet, anyway. She believes she does. She believes she knows what she can handle. So as far as she's sees it, the worry Oz and the rest of the Gang have for her with using the Magicks the way she does at this point in the show is unnecessary. They don't understand. But the thing is - she doesn't understand that she's walking a slippery slope already with witchcraft because she's using it for all the wrong reasons. In that way, it is indeed an addiction.
And as we see a little later on in this episode, Willow wants to use magic to get out of the situation they're in with the fraternity house coming alive and attacking them. And when Buffy says it's too dangerous and they need to leave her, she snaps. She gets angry. She wants to prove that she can get them out of the situation they're in with conjuring and she defies Buffy's orders.
"Being the Slayer doesn’t automatically make you boss. You’re as lost as the rest of us.”
"I'm not your sidekick!"
It's only now that she has power, it's starting to bother her that Buffy is the only one who can make the decisions. The only one who can boss everyone around and make and execute the plans. And that's why when Buffy's not around, Willow immediately takes lead. Because she knows she can when she has magic to make her feel powerful.
It's an amazingly well-written arc. It really is.

“W-What do you mean gone?” Namjoon was the first to break the silence.
“She was talking to some of our employees. Then she went to the washroom but never returned. They found this placed behind the stack of hand towels.” Jin opened his palm and all the boys saw your wing charm. The one that was supposed to be on your bracelet.
“So, she was taken?” Jimin asked in disbelief. His words made all their stomachs sink, this was their worst nightmare. This was supposed to be the perfect night for all of you.
“It’s obvious she was taken. She left this there for a reason.” Hoseok pointed to the black wing charm.
“There are hundreds of people here. Someone must have seen her. Namjoon, can’t you get access to the cameras? This is your building.” Yoongi asked.
“Let’s go.” Namjoon nodded and led everyone back in.
“I need access to all the security cameras. Now.” Namjoon commanded. The manager nodded, hurriedly bringing the 7 bosses to the security room. Taehyung sat down, typing away.
“Look out for her.” Jin said.
“There!” Jungkook pointed. You were being escorted out by a group of people, walking calmly to not attract any attention. But it was obvious that someone was pointing a weapon at your back to push you forward. For a split second, you turned to the exact camera the boys were watching, meeting eyes with the lens. The boys held their breaths as they watched.
“No...” They watched you get into a car and the car drive away into the night.
“Call a meeting. Now.” Yoongi growled, slamming his palm onto the desk. The boys were quick to move, exiting the small room.
“We’ll get you back.” Taehyung whispered, placing his palm against your face on the screen. Pursing his lips in determination, he ran out of the room to assist his brothers.
“We’re going now. Run the license plate number and put out a notice to our allies.” Namjoon ordered. Their car pulled up and they jumped in.
“Every enemy of ours is a potential suspect.” Jin said.
“We have thousands of people who want to kill us! It might be too late by the time we go through everyone. There has to be a better, more efficient way!” Jimin said impatiently.
“Give doc more credit. She is smart enough to survive a lot longer than we think. Besides, they won’t be so dumb to kill her off quickly. They’ll definitely come into contact with us to give us demands or make us do something for her to safely return.” Yoongi stated, crossing his arms.
“Young masters.” The maid opened the door for them.
“No more visitors. The house is on lockdown until further notice.” Hoseok ordered and the maid nodded, running off to inform the other workers of the house. The boys went to the other wing.
“As expected, the plate is of an old vehicle. It was meant to be scrapped last week.” Jungkook said.
“Get in contact with all your underground informants. Someone must slip somewhere. See if anyone has heard anything.” Namjoon sighed.
“I’ll go meet mine first.” Jungkook grabbed his coat, leaving the house once again. The boys tried to busy themselves but there wasn’t much they could do with no clues.
“We can hardly see their faces.” Hoseok pointed at the screen, rewatching the footage from different angles.
“We shouldn’t operate here. Let’s use ‘Magic Shop’.” Jin said. Magic Shop was a shared business between the 7 boys. Like the name, it had everything they needed. Information usually passes through there.
On your side...
When you woke up, you were in an unfamiliar place. You looked around to scan the area, it was a small concrete room with an old bed in the corner, a small barred window to the right and two doors, you guessed one led to a bathroom. Your hands were tied in front of you, ankle chained to the wall, and there was a dull ache at the back of your head. You remembered what happened.
You were finishing up in the toilet when you heard the door open and footsteps enter the washroom. From the heavy stomp of footsteps and heavier breathing, you knew whoever entered was male and not female.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
“Come out. We know you’re in there.” A gruff voice sounded. You remained silent but you knew that this can only go on for so long. As quiet as possible, you tried to get your phone out of your clutch to reach the boys but there was unfortunately, no signal.
“We’ll break the door down.” They threatened.
“Okay, okay. I’m coming out.” You sighed, hand resting on the doorknob. When you stepped out, you looked up to see two men that you’ve never seen before.
“Let me at least wash my hands first.” You raised an eyebrow. They looked at each other before nodding. You washed your hands with soap, not even meeting eyes with them.
“Are you done?” One growled in annoyance.
“Yeah.” You picked up a hand towel to wipe your hands then tossed the used towel into the bin.
“You’re gonna walk calmly, out of the building. If you dare do anything else, it’ll be the end for you.” You felt cold metal press against your lower back. You nodded as one opened the washroom door for you.
“Go.” They pushed you forward. As you left the washroom, you side eyed the gleam of a gem under the light. You only hoped that the boys would see it. No one suspected anything as you walked out of the building with two men behind you, one standing suspiciously closer than the other. A car pulled up to the steps of the building.
“Get in.” They opened the door. Turning around, you caught sight of a security camera, staring at it for a few seconds before the men impatiently pushed you into the car, slamming the door shut.
As the car drove, you tried to remember where you were headed or at least, some landmarks.
“You guys didn’t blindfold her?!” The driver finally noticed you. The male that was sitting next to you pulled out a blindfold, getting closer to you.
“Get away.” You tried kicking him.
“B*tch!” The male squirmed when you successfully manoeuvred yourself to get him in a chokehold despite the small backseat. But you had forgotten about the other person in the passenger seat.
“Sleep tight, princess.” There was an impact to the back of your head. Black spots appeared in your vision and soon, it was dark.
“Look who’s awake.” One of the doors opened, a bright light shining into your darkroom. You winced slightly at the sudden brightness hitting your eyes. A suited male came in, walking towards you. You stared up at him but the shadow made it impossible.
“Nice to meet you again.” He said, a teasing tone in his voice.
“Do I know you?” You groaned.
“How could you forget me? I’m hurt, doc.”
“Well, if you didn’t know how light directions work, the light makes it a little hard to see your face. All I see is a shadow now.” You hissed with a glare. Then he bent down and you saw his face.
“Recognise me now?” He smiled.
“Not... really?” You tilted your head. His smile fell from his face as he frowned. He backhanded you, waking you fall to the side. Your cheek throbbed and you tasted iron in your mouth, knowing that you were now probably bleeding.
“Look, I’m sorry you’re butt hurt about me not recognising or remembering you. But I meet new people every day. If everyone is like you and expects me to remember them, my job would be a lot harder than it already is. Stop being petty.” You growled. Usually, someone in your position would be more submissive, considering you didn’t have the upper hand.
“Ever the smart mouth, doc. Let’s see how long you can keep that up.” He threw his head back, laughing.
“I also wonder how long it will take for you to realise that kidnapping me and holding me captive isn’t going to do anything.” You raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, doc. Ever so naive. What you don’t know is that with you being here, my boss already has control over your 7 mafia bosses. They’re probably scrambling and panicking to find you.” He said.
“I’m just an employee.” You shrugged.
“That’s what you think. You think every employee has a diamond bracelet like you?” He asked.
“I never really cared, it was just a pretty bracelet to me. But I’m sure you’re about to tell me how important that is.” You said in a bored tone. Under playing everything was now your plan.
“Only the 7 bosses have that bracelet. It’s a sign of their highest rank. And guess who’s the 8th person to ever get one?” He smirked. You didn’t let it show but deep down, you were surprised. You never really noticed the bracelet on the boys. Because like you said, you never really cared or gave it much thought.
“So trust me, they’ll be here.” He scoffed.
“Hold on, I’m still trying to understand, so you and/or your boss is the enemy of the boys? You’re not from one of the families I cared for?!” You asked.
“Oh, doc.” He shook his head, laughing.
“Man, talk about shallow...” You rolled your eyes. The man just waved, heading for the door. He slammed the door shut, leaving you in darkness once again. You sighed, looking down at your dress that was now dirtied.
“Who is he?” You wrecked your brains to try and remember.
“The guy at the casino.” You finally remembered the incident that happened when you first had dinner with the boys outside, at Jin’s casino.
He tried to speak to you as you were coming out of the washroom and it ended with Yoongi escorting you to the car while the others ‘dealt with him’. Though at that point, you didn’t know what that meant. Now, you imagined how the boys must have given him a ‘stern warning’, for him to have such bitter feelings towards you.
“Talk about holding a grudge.” You sighed.
“No wonder they didn’t want me to remove the bracelet. Some VIP treatment this is.” You wondered out loud. You needed to find a way out of here, you couldn’t just sit and wait to be rescued.
“Let’s see.” You brought your bound hands up to your mouth, hoping to be able to use your teeth to try and loosen the knot.
“Here. Eat.” The door opened, making you put your hands down quickly. It was one of the men that kidnapped you from the ball. He held a tray and a bottle of water in his hands.
“Is it poisoned?” You looked at him skeptically.
“You never know until you try, right?” He raised an eyebrow, placing the tray in front of you.
“Just eat!” He hissed impatiently.
“You take a bite first. You eat it, I eat it.” You shrugged. The man was given strict orders to make sure that you ate. And all you were doing now was making his job a lot more difficult. He glared at you but you just stared back nonchalantly, not backing down either.
“It won’t be poisoned. We’re waiting for the 7 to come. If you’re dead, there’s no use in all this.” The man scoffed.
“If it’s not poisoned, then eat it.” You said. The man closed his eyes, letting out a deep breath. You knew you were being infuriating but your attitude was the only thing that you could use as a self defence now.
“I swear.” He scooped up the rice and kimchi, taking a bite.
“Now that wasn’t so hard now, was it?” You said. The guy clicked his tongue, undoing the rope around your hands to let you eat. He took a seat opposite you on the ground, but keeping his distance.
“This food is sh*t.” You took a bite.
“Well, it’s all you’re getting so learn to like it.” He crossed his arms. You sighed, eating your food in silence.
“Alright, I’m done. I might actually throw up if I continue.” You scrunched your face, pushing the tray. The man took the rope to bind your hands again. Seeing the gun holster on his waistband, you knew it would be foolish to try and fight back to escape now. So at this moment, you just had to be obedient and do whatever they told you to do.
“Ugh.” You threw your head back, trying to get the stiff kinks out of your shoulders and neck. You stared at the metal brace around your ankle, that was gonna be hard to get out of.
-
“Where’s Taehyung?” Namjoon asked when he came back from his meeting. It was safe to say that thanks to their parents, Namjoon and Yoongi had the most ‘ears to the ground’ in the group.
“He went for a breather.” Jimin informed softly.
“We need to think this through. Doc hardly meets anyone with us... Or at least, ones who are alive.” Hoseok said.
“I’m going for a meeting.” Jin looked at his phone. He stood up and left with his bodyguard in tow.
“Hyung is right.” Jungkook started a fresh document to list down the times you went to visit any of the boys’ place of business. Most of the time, the boys tried to go home for you to treat them since most of your equipment was at home but of course, there have been urgent times.
“She came to mine. But the person was dead.” Jimin raised his hand and Jungkook noted that down. The door opened and Taehyung came in. He dragged his bloodied bat on the ground, falling onto his seat.
“Where were you?” Yoongi asked.
“Just needed some fresh air.” Was all the younger said. Taehyung didn’t deal with emotions well, which is evident considering what happened with his father.
“Anyway, we’re listing down the times doc came to our place of business to maybe find out a time where our enemy might have seen her.” Namjoon got his up to speed.
“Did you forget she doesn’t even know that she wears our family band around her wrist?” Taehyung asked.
“Did she not even notice?”
“No, she didn’t even know what I was talking about when I mentioned it to her at the club the other night. She thought it was just a nice gift. I told her the gist of it but she probably thought that most, if not all, our employees have one too.” Jimin informed.
“Whatever it is. We’re all just trying to form at least a list of suspects. Every option, we’ll try it.” Yoongi said.
“She hasn’t been to Stigma or Singularity before. I usually handle those businesses outside and try to go home to get treated by her.” Taehyung crossed his arms.
“Stop looking at that.” He saw Jungkook still had the paused video of you staring at the camera on his computer screen.
“Let him be.” Namjoon chided.
“I got video footage from Daydream.” Hoseok informed. His place was one of the only one that the car could have possibly driven past. If they did, they would have a general direction of where you went.
“Hook it up to the screen.” Jungkook handed Hoseok the cable to hook his computer up to the screen and he played the footage from the night before. He carefully skipped forward the seconds, they couldn’t risk missing something. Everyone was quiet, their focus on the video footage in front of them. Jimin stood up from his seat.
“There. Fast backwards 10 seconds. Slow the video down.” He pointed. Hoseok moved the video back. In the slowed freeze frames, they saw the exact car drive past Daydream and take a left.
“Hobi, where does that road lead to?” Yoongi asked.
“Uh, the car slanted left. That leads to the highway... Up north, I think.” Hoseok pulled up the map.
“Yes. That highway heads north.” Taehyung said. Finally, the boys felt like they had a breakthrough. The kidnappers probably held you captive somewhere up north of Seoul.
“Who are the clans in the north?” Namjoon asked.
“Here they are.” Jungkook flipped through the photos on the screen.
“It is one of them. No one else would let another gang on their territory, knowing that they kidnapped one of ours. Unless they want an unnecessary war on their hands.” Yoongi said. Even if they did have enemies, a lot of gangs would rather be an ally instead. Bangtan was just that scary.
“I’ll call Jin hyung and let him know.” Jimin took his phone out, stepping aside to call the eldest, letting him know what they had found out so far.
It only took 20 minutes for Jin to come back, unsuccessful from meeting with all his informants. No one had a clue as to who was vengeful enough to kidnap you from Bangtan.
“We’ll start visiting some of them. You guys fill Jin hyung in on what’s going on. It’ll be faster if we split up to visit the gangs.” Taehyung said.
“Okay. Don’t be reckless.” Namjoon said. Jimin nodded, a silent promise to keep Taehyung in check. Grabbing what they needed, the duo left ‘Magic Shop’ immediately.
“Show me the photos.” Jin said. Once again, Jungkook pulled up the photos.
“Hold on. Go back.” Jin stopped the maknae. Jungkook clicked the slide, going back to show the photos of the leaders and righthand men from one of the gangs. Jin moved closer, squinting slightly.
“That guy... Don’t you recognise him?” Jin pointed.
“What do you mean?” Yoongi asked.
“We’ve encountered him before. That first dinner with (y/n) at my casino. He harassed her outside the washrooms. Jungkook came to rescue her in time and Yoongi took her away before he could reveal anything. We didn’t kill him since we didn’t want to make anything too obvious yet.” Jin frowned. The others finally remembered.
“But she didn’t have a bracelet yet.” Hoseok reminded.
“From the way Jungkook sprung to protect her... They must have been keeping tabs on her.” Namjoon concluded.
Just then, the phone rang.

Liam- Badass
A/N: This one has been in my ask box for a really long time, but I hope you guys enjoy it! I’ve been rewatching season 6, and Liam has grown on me a lot as a character!
Request:  Hi can you plz do a review where (based in season 6 episode 14 where everyone Is judging Liam and all that) and the reader is trying to be nice to him and be his friend when no one else will but Nolan has a crush on her and that is another reason he wants Liam to change so she can she the “monster” he is thx❤️❤️😘
“Find anything interesting?”
You jumped. The voice had startled you as it came from behind a library shelf. When you turned, a pair of blue eyes caught yours through an empty space between books.
“Sorry,” Nolan Holloway apologized, smiling sheepishly as he came around to your aisle. “I wasn’t trying to scare you.”
“It’s fine,” you told him. “I was just trying to find another copy of the bio textbook for Liam. He forgot his.”
Nolan glanced back toward the collection of tables in the middle of the school library. One was occupied by Liam, Mason and Corey, with a single empty seat waiting for you.
“Study group?” he asked.
“Sort of,” you told him. “It was kind of spontaneous.”
He nodded. “You know, I don’t really get why you hang out with those guys. Mason and Corey, I sort of understand, but Liam? He just seems like he’s hiding something.”
You raised your eyebrows. It wasn’t the first time someone had questioned your friendship with Liam because of his temper, but Nolan seemed to be talking about something else entirely.  “What do you mean?”
“You have to notice all the weird stuff that goes on around here, right?”
“I think everyone does.”
“Yeah, so haven’t you noticed that they’re always at the center of it all?”
“Not really, no,” you told him. “You sure you’re not imagining things? The bio exam is coming up and I don’t think anyone is getting much sleep…”
You trailed off as you noticed he was still staring at your friends. You were about to just back up and leave when he turned to you.
“I’m not sleep-deprived. I just pay attention. I pay attention to you too, you know.”
He had this strange, intense look in his eyes, and you were suddenly uncomfortable.
“Okay,” you agreed, struggling to keep a polite smile on your face. “Well, I’ve gotta get back to studying so…”
You trailed off and turned, quickly walking back to your table.
“There aren’t any more books,” you told Liam.
“That’s fine. We can just share...hey, are you okay?”
Liam had seen Nolan getting a little too close to you over by the bookshelves. He knew he had a tendency to be a little overprotective, and, as Mason had also pointed out, a little too jealous. Maybe he didn’t have a right to be, but there were many times that he couldn’t help it. He had heard the way the other lacrosse players talked about you in the locker room.
Nolan himself had said a few disgusting things when he didn’t think Liam had heard him. Though he couldn’t confront his teammate outright, he made sure to check him extra hard at practice.
Maybe that was why he had been so suspicious as he watched Nolan breathe down your neck while you searched for an extra textbook. Maybe it also had something to do with how much Liam cared for you, and the fact that Nolan seemed to be up to something worse than getting into your pants.
You nodded as you sat down at the table. “Yeah, I’m okay. It’s just...I don’t know. Do you ever get the feeling like something bad is about to happen?”
Corey and Mason shared a concerned look, but Liam tilted his head.
“Like what? We might fail the test? Cause I don’t think I need a feeling to tell me that.”
“Shut up,” you complained, feeling the worry roll off your shoulders. “We’re going to make sure you don’t.”
You scooted your chair closer to him and opened up the textbook you had left on the table. “Let’s start with Chapter Nine.”
He leaned in to read next to you and flashed you a grateful smile. You were just about to turn the page when a couple of books slammed onto the table. You flinched at the noise, instinctively moving closer to Liam.
Nolan was standing at the edge of the table, smiling at the four of you. “Hey guys.”
“Hey, Nolan,” Mason said politely.
“Mind if I sit?” Nolan asked.
Liam opened his mouth to protest, but Nolan was already pulling a fifth chair up to the table.
Corey glanced over and met your eyes. He had seen you talking to Nolan in the stacks, and by the way his eyebrows were raised you knew he was wondering if you had invited him over. You shook your head.
Mason cleared his throat. “Studying for the bio test?”
“Trying,” Nolan said with a strange grin, sitting down next to you. “Trying to understand how organisms evolve and change.”
“I don’t think this is on the test,” Corey said hesitantly.
Nolan’s lips twitched, and he clicked the pen in his hands, over and over. He glanced around the table. “Do you think DNA changes?”
“If it’s damaged,” Mason told him.
“I wonder if any of us have changed,” Nolan wondered aloud. “And if we did...would there be any way to tell?”
“Like a DNA test?”.
Nolan smiled as he turned the pen over in his hands. “I was thinking a different type of test.”
Liam stood up suddenly.
“You know what, Nolan? This is a private study group. Get lost.”
Nolan nodded, seeming to understand. He pushed himself up from the table, flashing you a warm smile. For a second, it seemed like he was going to leave. Then, looking right into your eyes, he stabbed his pen into Corey’s hand.
You let out a shriek, and Corey cried out as blood splashed onto the table. Now it was glistening on the wood and your textbook.
“What the hell is your problem?” Mason demanded, but Nolan wasn’t phased.
He reached forward, jerking Corey’s hand up and holding it high for everyone in the library to see. The hole that should have been there was gone, like it had completely healed.
“Look at him!” he snarled at you. “Look at him!”
The entire library was staring. Kids looked up from their textbooks and phones to find a sight that confused and terrified them. What they didn’t know, and what you didn’t know, was that this was only the beginning.
In seconds, Liam had shoved Nolan off of Corey, knocking him to the floor of the library. “Get the hell away from us. Now.”
Nolan glared at Liam, shoving himself up from the ground. He snatched his books from the table and glanced toward you. “See what I’m talking about?”
Then he stormed off, shoving the library doors open and disappearing into the darkened hallway.
When you looked back, Corey, Liam, and Mason were all eyeing you carefully, as if you were an animal that might bite. You glanced at Corey’s completely healed hand, and you made a decision that would define everything that came after that night.
“Nolan is nuts,” you said firmly. “Let’s go study at my house.”
Their shoulders seemed to slump in relief, and Liam reached out to squeeze your hand.
You met his baby blue eyes, and a look of understanding passed between the two of you. What you had seen didn’t matter. These were your friends, and nothing could scare you away from them.
-----
It only took a few days for things to escalate to the unthinkable. Suddenly everyone was afraid of your friends.
You didn’t understand it. There had only been about ten other people in the library that night. Word shouldn’t have traveled that fast, and even if it had, what was there to be afraid of?
If Corey could suddenly heal from his injuries, that should have been a miracle. Unfortunately, not everyone thought that.
When the three of you had walked into school that Monday, all people had done was stare or shy away from you and your friends. You couldn’t hear the whispers, but Liam seemed to be able to. He looked pained as you stood in front of your lockers.
“Just block it out,” Mason assured him.
“They know,” Liam whispered nervously.
“It’s just rumors. They don’t know anything.”
You looked between the two of them. You didn’t know anything either, but you could at least tell that Liam and Corey were different. For some people, that was enough to be upset about.
Before you could interject, someone else did.
“They know everything,” Corey told them, coming up from the hallway behind you. “Two sophomores on the lacrosse team were there last night.”
Mason shook his head, still trying to convince Liam, and maybe himself, that things were okay. “Yeah, but it was late. It was pitch-black out, and there was fog on the road.”
Corey frowned. “It was a clear night, a full moon, and a well lit intersection.”
“Look, I have to get out of here,” Liam hissed.
“No,” Mason insisted. “If you leave, these rumors never stop. You gotta just convince them that you’re a regular kid.”
“I’m not a regular kid.”
You blinked, looking between them. “Wait, what happened last night?”
The three of them shared a glance. No one said anything.
“Look, you can tell me. I already saw what happened in the library. I don’t care.”
Liam and Corey hesitated, but Mason spoke up. “Okay, I’ll tell you.”
“Mason,” Corey hissed.
“Come on, she already has all the pieces. She just hasn’t put them together yet. It’s safer for her to know the whole story.”
Corey didn’t look convinced. He was eyeing you carefully with his arms crossed over his chest. Defensive.
“You’re right,” Liam told Mason, but when you looked into his eyes, he looked scared.
“Can you come with us?” Mason asked you.
You nodded and they led you away from the main hallway. You followed them into a quiet chemistry lab, where they locked the door behind them. There, they explained everything.
Finding out that Liam and Corey were both supernatural creatures was a lot to take in. If there was nothing else going on, you might have needed more time to process everything. However, the news that a group of werewolf hunters was targeting and killing your friends seemed to override the shock.
They explained that wasn’t their only problem, because after Liam had shifted in front of half the town last night, everyone, including the kids at your high school, seemed to know that he wasn’t human.
“So,” you finally said. “What do we do?”
“Good question,” Liam said. “Cause I have no idea.”
“Remember what Scott said?” Mason asked him.
Scott was the assistant coach for the lacrosse team, but he was only a couple years older than you. He hung out with you guys a lot, and he always seemed like a sweet, caring guy. You guessed he was probably in on the secret too.
“He said ‘Be like Clark Kent’.”
Liam looked exasperated. “Clark Kent turns into a guy with a red and blue outfit and a cape. I turn into a monster with claws and fangs.”
“Then just get through the day without shifting,” Corey told him.
“Liam,” Mason said softly. “People are saying that Brett and Lori died in a car accident. We know the truth. They didn’t just die.”
You sucked in a breath. “They were murdered?”
Liam’s face softened. “The people who are after us are dangerous, Y/n. They’ll kill us, and anyone else that gets in the way. That means you too.”
“I don’t care,” you insisted. “You guys are my best friends. I’m not just gonna run and hide, especially if I can help.”
You reached out to grab his hand and squeeze it. His lips turned up at the corners, if only for a moment.
“Then you’re with us now.”
You all agreed that Liam would try to keep cool. The rest of you would try to listen out for anything that might suggest someone was coming after him. Mason and Corey left the chemistry lab to head to their first period classes, leaving you and Liam alone together.
You were both supposed to head to your own classes, but you lingered for a moment.
“So...you’re not afraid?” he asked sheepishly.
You shook your head. “Liam, I know who you are. Having claws and fangs doesn’t change that, even if it’s a little weird.”
He smiled. “A little?”
“Okay, maybe a lot,” you admitted with a grin. “But that just means you can eat the people that piss me off on a full moon.”
Liam frowned. “Werewolves don’t eat people on full moons.”
“So what do they do?”
“Exactly what we’ve been doing every full moon for the past two years. Eating junk food and playing video games.”
You thought for a moment. “And you have super reflexes?”
He nodded. “Yeah, basically.
“So why do you suck so bad at COD then?”
Liam rolled his eyes, but he was still smiling. He was relieved you were still treating him the way you always had. Telling you about the supernatural was always something he had wanted to do. You were one of his best friends, and he had always felt wrong hiding it from you.
He had thought about admitting his secret countless times before, but something had always stopped him. What you didn’t know was that Liam had always thought of you as more than a friend. He was pretty sure you felt the same way, but he had never asked you out.
Scott had questioned him about it once on the way home from a pack movie night. They had dropped you off at home, and as he pulled away from the curb in his mom’s sedan, he was looking at Liam with a smile on his face.
“What?” Liam had asked.
“Why don’t you ask her out?”
Liam flushed. Scott grinned at him. “I haven’t seen you look at anyone like that since Hayden.”
“I don’t know,” Liam said.
“What do you mean?” he asked. “She likes you too. You can’t tell?”
“I know she does. It’s just...with everything going on, I don’t want to drag her into this.”
Scott nodded. “I get it...but you can’t spend your whole life doing that.”
“Doing what?”
“Sacrificing your happiness to keep people safe. Even when you do that, they’re never really safe.”
“I don’t know,” Liam mumbled, glancing out the window into the darkness.
“I had to learn that the hard way,” Scott had told him. “But maybe you do too.”
Now, as he stood across from you, he didn’t want to leave the chemistry lab. He wanted to hide in there with you for as long as he could and tell you everything, including how he felt about you. Before he could get the chance, you spoke.
“Come on,” you said, nodding toward the hallway. “Let’s make sure you stay alive so I can beat your ass again this weekend.”
He had missed his moment, but he smiled at you anyway. “Can I walk you to class?”
“Duh.”
You looped your arm through his and headed out into the hall, ignoring the stares and fearful looks the entire way.
------
You met up again in biology class, which you all had together. When you sat down at the table next to Liam, he pulled you close to whisper in your ear.
Your heart skipped when he placed his hand on your arm, but he was too agitated to notice.
“Nolan and Gabe are going to try to force me to shift. Corey said they’re going to block all the exits.”
You frowned. “Then we have to find a way to sneak you out.”
You glanced behind you, where Corey and Mason were sharing a table.
“We’ve got a plan for that."
Mason explained that Corey could make himself and Liam invisible. They would sneak out down the halls and hopefully find an exit that wasn’t guarded by lacrosse players.
When the bell finally rang, the four of you headed out of class. Corey and Liam slipped behind a pillar and disappeared into thin air. You and Mason led the way as they shuffled behind you, completely unseen.
The four of you hurried through the school, but every exit you passed was blocked by an angry-looking lacrosse player.
“What do we do?” you muttered to Mason.
“Just keep going.”
You turned down another hallway, only to run right into Nolan. He was standing in the middle of the hallway with a few other lacrosse players. Gabe was right behind him. You and Mason stopped short at the sight.
“Hey guys,” Nolan said. His tone was casual, but there was no friendliness in his eyes.
Before you could attempt to go around him or the others, he stepped in front of you. His hands were curled tightly into fists.
“What are you doing?” you asked him.
“You should leave, Y/n. You shouldn’t get in the middle of all this. You’ll get hurt.”
You frowned. “Nolan, please.”
His gaze softened. He looked like he wanted to say something more, but then he simply opened his hand and blew a handful of white powder at you. The smell of flour drifted through the air as you and Mason were dusted. You felt terror grip you as you realized that Corey and Liam were covered too, making them suddenly visible.
You turned in horror, but before you could make a move, Gabe darted forward and threw Liam to the floor. Both Gabe and Nolan hauled him up, dragging him down the empty hall and into a deserted classroom. The other lacrosse players didn’t bother to grab you or Mason. Instead, they flooded into the classroom behind the others.
Some students passing by followed suit, eager to watch the fight they sensed was about to happen.
“Wait here,” Mason told you, darting after them.
He shoved his way into the classroom, ready to come to Liam’s rescue, but he was immediately grabbed by two lacrosse players. You frantically looked around for Corey, but he had disappeared again. You only hoped he was hiding somewhere safe, just in case they were planning on coming for him next.
With Corey nowhere to be found, you shouldered your way into the classroom, but you were trapped behind the sea of kids trying to catch the action.
You watched in horror as Nolan landed a punch to Liam’s face, causing blood to run from his nose. They shoved him to the ground, kicking and punching him. Every time Liam seemed to be close to snapping, he seemed to hold himself back. You were relieved, but you also weren’t sure how long he could keep that up.
“You’re fighting it!” you heard Nolan snap.
Your blood boiled. You were sick to your stomach with both rage and terror. Liam was getting his ass handed to him. He couldn’t even fight back.
You watched as Gabe snatched a tuft of Liam’s brown hair. He yanked him up from the classroom floor, only to slam his knee into Liam’s face. You flinched.
“What is going on here?!”
Suddenly the clicking of heels sounded from down the hallway. Mrs Finch was striding over, and the crowd of kids parted for her. Instead of looking angry, she just seemed scared as she realized what was happening.
“Do something!” Mason pleaded, but Mrs. Finch just held up her hands, as if she were surrendering.
“Sometimes it’s best to let them work things out on their own,” she told him, before turning back down the hall.
Kids stared in shock, dumbfounded at her response. You took the opportunity to shove your way into the space she had left in the crowd. As you got closer, you saw that Liam was lying on his back. Blood was streaming from his nose, his mouth, and various other cuts on his face.
Gabe was kneeling over him, punching him over and over. He raised his arm to land another blow, and that was when you moved forward. You had no idea what had gotten into you, but you couldn’t watch another second of Liam’s suffering.
Gabe grunted in surprise as you knocked him to the ground. The two of you spilled onto the tiled floor, but he quickly recovered. He yanked your head back by your hair, causing you to cry out.
Before you could register what was happening, pain was shooting through your skull. He had punched you so hard that it left you lying on the floor, dazed and seeing white for a few seconds.
“Gabe-” Nolan began to say, but he was cut off. “Is this what’s gonna do it, Liam?” Gabe demanded, pulling you off the floor by your hair. “Maybe you won’t change if we beat your ass, but what about hers?”
Tears were streaming down your face, blurring your vision. You could still see Liam's eyes glowing yellow though. As much as it hurt, you weren’t willing to be the reason he shifted in front of everyone.
“Liam,” you begged. “Don’t.”
You could taste your own blood on your lips. Judging by the look on Liam’s face, you probably looked terrible, even from the single punch. You knew they were going to do much worse.
Gabe balled his hand into a fist once more, and you closed your eyes, bracing for the next punch.
“What the hell is going on?! Back off!”
Suddenly, Gabe was ripped off of you by the back of his shirt. His fingers uncurled from your hair, and you dropped to the ground on your hands and knees.
“Get to the Principal's office now!” Coach Finstock was screaming.
He had Gabe and Nolan by their shirts, and he practically tossed them out the door and into the hallway. He looked absolutely livid. You had never seen Coach so angry. He gazed out at the crowd of students around you.
“What the hell is this?” He demanded. “Get out, all of you! I can’t stand to look at your faces!”
The crowd dispersed, and Mason was let go. You scrambled over to Liam, who was still on his back. He was taking short, gasping breaths and his face was covered in his own blood, but he looked relieved. He coughed as the four of you, including Corey, who had reappeared, helped him off the ground. One of his arms was slung over your shoulder, and the other was slung over Mason’s.
Mason stared at him in awe. “I can’t believe you did that...and Y/n, I can’t believe you just tackled Gabe. That was insane.”
Liam nodded, looking between the three of you. “Clark Kent, right?” he muttered.
“Yeah,” Mason breathed. “Clark Kent.”
Liam glanced over at you. He felt a lump in his throat when he saw the state of your face. There was a small gash on your cheek from where Gabe had punched you. A trickle of blood was making its way down to your jaw, and your lip was split open. The worst part was the bruising. The blood could be cleaned up, but the bruise that was beginning to form would be there for a while. That side of your face was also beginning to swell.
His blood was boiling. He wanted to tear Gabe and Nolan apart. In that moment, he didn’t care who saw. Then you spoke.
“Liam,” you said softly. “I’m okay. I promise.”
You squeezed his hand. The feel of your fingers wrapped around his seemed to ground him. The tension melted from his shoulders.
“Come on,” he said. “Let’s get out of here.”
------
“God, I have no idea how I’m going to explain what happened to your parents.”
You looked over at Liam from the passenger seat of his Toyota. He had a white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel. You raised your eyebrows.
“Why do you have to explain?”
“Because I’m your best friend. I’m supposed to protect you...and everything that happened is my fault anyway.”
You lifted the bag of frozen peas that Coach had given you off your cheek. He had assured you it would bring down the swelling, but you were skeptical.  You pulled down the visor in front of you and glanced at your wounded face in the mirror.
Mason had cleaned the blood off with the lacrosse team first aid kit, but there was a visible gash where Gabe’s knuckles had connected with your cheekbone. The bruise, now a deep blue-ish purple, spread out across your cheek. Your lip was also busted and there was no way you’d be able to hide it.
“It’s not your fault. I’ll just tell my parents the truth. Someone was getting their ass kicked and I stepped in to stop them. Well, I tried anyway.”
“Okay, now you’re kind of making me sound like a little bitch.”
You shrugged, and you and Liam both burst out laughing. The movement in your face caused you to wince and Liam’s expression darkened.
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to keep saying that.”
“I feel like I do.”
“You don’t,” you assured him. “Liam, none of this was your fault. It’s the hunters and Nolan, and that fucking psycho Gabe. Plus, I’m the one who tackled him…”
He didn’t answer right away. He was anxiously chewing on his lip, staring out the windshield.
“Liam?”
“I think you need to leave town.”
You balked at him. “What? No way!”
“Gabe could have done a lot worse to you. Now he knows you’re involved. Staying here could get you killed. You and Mason both.”
“So what are we supposed to do?” you demanded. “Just run away?”
“Yeah. That’s exactly what you should do. I can’t protect you, Y/n. I can’t protect anyone.”
“I can protect myself-”
“No you can’t!” he snapped. “Look at your face!”
You flinched back at his sharp tone. Wordlessly, you turned away, slouching down in your seat to stare out the window. Maybe he was right, but his words had touched a nerve.
Liam wasn’t trying to hurt you, but he was terrified. If he couldn’t even protect you from Gabe, how was he supposed to protect you from trained hunters?
“Y/n...I’m sorry. I’m not saying you’re not strong. I just…I can’t lose you.”
You felt a flutter in your chest. Taking a deep breath, you looked back over at him.
“Even if you can’t protect me, why would I leave you? If someone’s trying to kill you, I want to help. Even if it means getting hurt...even if it means dying. I can’t just leave.”
“I can’t be the reason something happens to you,” Liam protested.
“You wouldn’t be,” you pointed out. “If these people are coming after you, that’s them. Not you.”
He shook his head and you could tell he was trying to work something out inside his head. He was about to turn down the street to Scott’s neighborhood, but he hesitated for a moment. You were both supposed to be at a pack meeting, but now he was having second thoughts about bringing you.
“Maybe I should just take you home. I promise I’ll come and get you as soon as this is over,” he swore.
“I can’t just leave you.”
“You can,” he insisted, pulling up to the nearest curb. Scott’s house was still a few blocks away.
“If you want me to leave you, you’re gonna have to pick me up and carry me kicking and screaming out of town,” you told him stubbornly.
“Fine,” he said with a shrug. “Then that’s what I’ll do. I’ll throw you over my shoulder. I don’t care.”
You rolled your eyes. “You’re not serious.”
“I am!” he shouted. “You don’t realize how much danger you’re in.”
“You’re Clark Kent, right?” you demanded. “What if I’m Lois Lane then? I don’t remember her ever running away.”
He opened his mouth to protest. This wasn’t a comic book. It was real life, and you could die. But as you stared at him defiantly, he realized you already knew that.
Asking you to leave him would have been like asking him to leave Scott and the others.
“Fine,” he said.
He put the car back into drive and pulled away from the curb. You drove in silence for a couple minutes, until he pulled into a driveway you presumed was Scott’s. There were several other cars out front. You recognized Stiles’ rickety, blue jeep right away, along with Lydia’s Martin’s Toyota and Scott’s motorcycle.
“Promise me you’ll just think about leaving?” he asked. “Just think about it.”
“Fine,” you told him.
Liam eyed you. “You’re lying.”
“So you can read minds now too?” you demanded.
“Your heart skips when you lie. I can hear it.”
He slammed the door behind him, but came around to open yours for you nonetheless. You could tell he was pissed at you for saying you wouldn’t leave, but he would do the exact same thing and you knew it.
As you followed Liam into the house, you saw a group of people clustered around the coffee table, examining a map. You recognized Scott, his mom, Malia, Lydia and two other men you didn’t know. One was tall with dark hair, and he was wearing a suit. There was an FBI badge hanging from his neck. The other was shorter, with piercing blue eyes.
“...no one can leave,” the taller one was saying. “Gerard’s distributed all of his weapons throughout Beacon Hills, to anyone who wants them.”
The shorter one looked grim. “He’s arming his army.”
You turned toward Liam, wanting to ask what they were talking about. Before they could, Lydia, who had been staring vacantly out the window, yelled “Get down!”
She pulled Mason to the floor just as two arrows flew through the glass windows at the front of the house, shattering them. A bright flash spread across the room, blinding you just after you saw Malia shove Scott down. Liam tackled you to the floor, covering his body with yours.
Gunfire echoed across the room, and you felt a sharp, stinging pain in your side. You cried out, and Liam pressed himself harder on top of you. You closed your eyes, terrified of what would happen next.
Suddenly, the gunfire stopped. You glanced up, and saw the taller man, who you now realized bore a striking resemblance to Scott, stand up. He must have been his father, you realized, as he drew his weapon from a holster on his side.
Liam pushed himself up, but when he did, he realized there was blood soaking through his t-shirt. When he felt for a wound, he realized it wasn’t his blood, but yours.
You were lying below him, and a pool of dark, red blood was staining your right side, soaking into your shirt and your jeans.
“Liam, what happened?” you whispered. Your voice was soft and scared.
“No!” he shouted, looking around frantically for the others.
But Mason and Melissa were both unconscious on the floor, lying in their own pools of blood, which were slowly widening on the floor. Lydia was bleeding, but awake, and she was using a hand to prop herself up using the coffee table. Scott’s dad was groaning in pain, one hand holding pressure over his bloody arm.
Everyone was hurt. Everyone needed help.
When Liam looked back down at you, your eyes were closed. Your breathing was growing shallow, and he resisted the urge to scream. He reached down, frantically pressing both hands over your bleeding side.
“Scott!” he cried. “What do we do?”
The alpha, riddled with bullet holes himself, struggled to his feet.
“I don’t know.”
------
“You doing okay?”
Liam looked up at the sound of Scott’s voice. The older boy was looking down at him sympathetically, and Liam felt a twinge of annoyance.
“Not really.”
“Mind if I sit?” Scott asked.
“Sure,” Liam said, looking back down at the floor.
The flimsy chair next to him groaned as Scott sat down. He had two plastic-wrapped breakfast bagels in his hands, one of which he held out to Liam.
“No thanks.”
“Come on, you haven’t eaten since last night.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Okay.” He set the bagels on the side table next to them. “You know the nurse said she was awake. You don’t wanna go see her?”
Liam was silent. His mouth was pressed into a grim line.
“Liam,” Scott said softly. “What happened wasn’t your fault.”
“I brought her to your house,” he grumbled. “I was trying to get her to leave town, but she wouldn’t. So I agreed that I wouldn’t make her.”
He shook his head in disbelief. “God, I should have just dragged her out of town myself.”
“She’ll be okay,” Scott reminded him. “The bullet didn’t hit anything important.”
“Yeah, and it’s a miracle it didn’t. I could have gotten her killed, Scott.”
Scott reached out, putting a hand on his shoulder. “Liam, look at me.”
Finally, he did. His blue eyes met Scott’s brown ones, and he felt himself tearing up, though he hated himself for it. He had forced himself not to cry all night, afraid that once he did, he would completely break down.
But now, as the tears slipped down his cheeks, he couldn’t stop them. “It’s my fault she got hurt, Scott. This is what I was afraid of, and it happened.”
“None of this is your fault.”
Scott leaned over and brought Liam into a tight hug. “Remember when I told you that sacrificing your happiness doesn’t always keep people safe?”
Liam nodded.
“You couldn’t have stopped this. Whoever was shooting at us was going to do it regardless. Who’s to say they wouldn’t have gone after her when you weren’t with her?”
“I could have made her leave town though.”
“No you couldn’t have. Making her leave you would have been like making you leave us. You never would have done it.”
“Maybe you’re right.”
Scott smiled and pulled away from the younger boy. “I know I’m right. I’ve been doing this for a while, remember? I know you feel like you’re responsible, but you’re not. She made her choice, and it was the exact same one you would have made.”
Liam nodded.
“I think you’re perfect for each other, actually,” Scott continued. “You’re both stubborn as hell.”
“Yeah,” Liam said with a soft laugh. “We are.”
“Go see her. I’m sure you guys have a lot to talk about.”
Liam nodded and rose to his feet. “Thanks.”
Scott smiled in response, and Liam headed down the hall to your room. The nurse had given him the number a few hours ago, but he was afraid to visit you. He knew you wouldn’t be mad at him, but it was his own guilt he hadn’t been able to get past. Now he knew he couldn’t control what happened to you, and it wasn’t fair to punish you by staying away.
He knocked on the wooden door, and heard your soft voice say “Come in.”
When he pushed it open, you were lying there, propped up against the pillows. You smiled when he entered, and he felt relief rush through him. Even in a hospital gown, you still looked beautiful.
He strode forward and leaned in, wrapping his arms around you. You buried your face in his shoulder, hugging him back.
“I was worried you weren’t going to show,” you admitted.
Liam flushed. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t sure if I should come.”
“It wasn’t your fault,” you told him. “I knew you’d feel like it was. That’s why I told Scott to go talk to you.”
He balked at you. “You...you told Scott to come talk to me?”
You nodded. “He came in to check on me once my parents left to eat. When you weren’t with him, I figured you’d be beating yourself up about it.”
Scott had been right. You really were perfect for each other.
“You’re still in this mess because of me.”
“Yeah, but I made the choice to stay. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat. You’re telling me you wouldn’t do the exact same thing?”
He sighed and lowered himself down into the chair next to your bed. “No, I would’ve.”
“Look, there’s something I need to tell you,” you admitted. “I could never have left you, Liam. I know you wanted me to go, but if I’m gonna die, I’d rather do it with you. I love you too much to run away.”
He reached out, placing his hand over yours. “It wasn’t like I wanted to be away from you. I just thought that you would be safer. I was afraid of...well, this.”
He gestured to you, lying in the hospital bed.
“Oh come on,” you said with a roll of your eyes. “I’m fine. Plus, I’m gonna have a kickass scar. It’ll be just like a video game.”
You reached down and pulled up your hospital gown, revealing the gauze over your side. “I’m gonna look like a total badass.”
Liam grinned. “You already are a total badass.”
You smiled up at him, and he felt his heart skip. Without hesitating any longer, he leaned in, cupping your face with his hands and pressing a soft kiss to your lips. Being gentle wasn’t exactly his strong suit, but your bottom lip was still busted from when Gabe had punched you.
“I love you,” he murmured, pulling back to look down at your face. “And whatever happens, I want you by my side.”
You nodded. “Me too.”
He pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, and you shifted to the other side of the hospital bed. You patted the space beside you.
“Are we allowed to do that?” he asked.
“I just got shot,” you complained. “I should be able to do whatever I want.”
Without another thought, Liam crawled up beside you. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close so that your side was pressed against his. You snuggled into him, and for the first time in months, he felt like everything would be okay.
