I feel like I'm losing my mind. Like this has to be a thing right? It's a thing I experience at least. Please please please tell me abt ur experience if u do 🙏

#all the literature i find is like yeah pmdd can be mistaken for bipolar but then they dont talk abt mania or hypomania #so im like ??? wtf is happening?#i mean i wasnt looking that hard but its still weird to me bc i tell my mum i possibly had a hypomanic episode and she instantly was like #hm could b hormones and she was 1000% percent right bc it happens mostly in the days before bleeding starts #so like i cant b the only one out there. and it doesnt happen all the time. and usually its not that extreme #like id say its mostly just elevated mood and it mostly just lasts like 3 days or so. so i dont think it counts as hypomania. but thats wha #ill select bc i had one time that felt so fucking crazy it felt like there was something seriously wrong with me. it was fun tho #before i crashed so hard i had to leave work in the middle of the day bc i couldnt stop crying lol #anyway. im curious #menstruation #pmdd #pms #its always depression this depression that. why the fuck do i wanna run around in circles screaming until i die? riddle me that batman

Something I see a lot in talks about AI art is something I've seen about a lot of different kinds of art: a desire to have the product reflect skill and/or talent.

Like, it reminds me so very much of how some (usually older) people react to music software. It used to be that you'd have to go the long way and spend years learning the guitar; now just anybody can simulate that sound for you and clean it all up and make it perfect!

Of course, there are many provisos to that; not anybody can open up that sort of program and put together a great-sounding song. The people who make e.g. really classic Vocaloid songs are very skilled with the program and very talented r.e. music. (And perhaps that is or will be true for AI, too: that anybody can just create a picture, but someone very skilled with a particular program can make something very specific and good!)

But it's that initial impulse that just... bothers me, a little. Because, yes, of course I understand the fear that you devoted years of your life to a subject and now it can be generated by just anyone. But why turn it around and treat it as some sort of principled, purist stance? Why does someone HAVE to devote years of their life to something to make art?

It just feels a bit. Suffering romanticisey. Either that, or making art inaccessible to ordinary people. Like 'Artists' are some inherently different kind of person.

Of course we can still value the dedication that went into specific kinds of work. Maybe that's your favourite thing about art. But doesn't it open up art to so many different kinds of people when barriers are taken away? People who can't afford to slave away for years on it? People who for some sort of physical or mental or whatever reason just can't ever really be as good with the 'traditional' process?

Again: this is not really about AI art and whether it does offer those opportunities to people. This is about the initial reaction that letting ordinary people more easily create art is somehow bad, and takes some kind of soul out of the process. But people have different capabilities; what is easy for most people is very difficult for others. Why is making art impossible for some people so important? What is so much more 'real' about art that requires very special tools, or knowledge that is barred the masses? What are we losing by letting 'untalented' people overcome certain obstacles?

#same thing with autotune #my mum always hated it. if they need autotune they can't sing!!#but i always felt. some people maybe arent QUITE good enough singers #but have really interesting ideas for songs or singing #and id like to hear them!!!#also autotune became a thing not to hide imperfections #but to create a unique sound of its own #VERY quickly #i just.#want to question people's reasoning here #it may be that ai art is bad inherently. but we should dislike it for the right reasons

Fascinated by how many people are picking the Daycare Attendant on that poll, I would have been soo scared of Sun

#i think sun would've liked me though which is a fun thought #i was always like the least chaotic to the point of always having to wrangle in the other kids my age #some of my earliest memories are... demanding a toddler my age to drop a sharp object #running after my friend who was ringing all the doorbells while i apologized to every person who answered their door #stopping a for-fun rock fight. twice at least #walking my friend home and comforting them after they got hurt #my mum also told me i've never thrown a temper tantrum in my entire life #oh telling my friends not to play by the fast river or frozen pond. yes i KNOW it's ice. it can BREAK. AND THE POND'S ON PRIVATE PROPERTY #[softly] why are you climbing so high up the tree #ohhh right yeah i forgot i also ended up having to help that kid get back down off the tree. just remembered #i was not the fuck around and find out kid. i wasn't about to let anyone else find out either #I COMPLETELY WENT OFF COURSE INTO NOSTALGIA. EXCUSE ME. my point WAS... i would have made it my goal to help with Sun's job #still wouldve been a little scared of him though

im so terrified that im not going to be able to survive living on my own which is like the most horrifying thought to me because my own independance and getting out of my parents house has always been like a top priority for me but im like really bad at taking care of even my most basic needs and it doesnt help seeing ppl talking about autistic people not being able to leve alone, like i know that a lot do but what if im one of the ones who cant

ya know what i find funny about the whole tory party gate thing ? Gen z & millennials get accused of recording everything / putting everything online but i stg all my relatives aged like 40-60 (ish) have their cameras out at far more occasions then people my age, like yeah young people have their phones out but usually just showing each other dumb memes or whatever but the older generation want pictures of everything to go on facebook man…anyway yeah idk just thoughts
