Ngl, i really like the idea of all the other elves just.... chronically de-aging the silvan and avari elves they meet. Everytime they come incontact with one they always think they’re millenia younger than they really are. At this point the silvans and avari have just given up on correcting them.

The Noldor and Sindar, who stayed in ME post first age: oh, Oropher is just a young adult who was born in the protection of Melian’s girdle and Elu’s court who has no real world experience and hates kinslayers!

Oropher, one of the elves who awoke at the lake, followed Elwe to look out for him bc he was his godson, and was one of the leaders of the factions of elves before Orome found them: uhuh

The Noldor and Sindar, who stayed in ME post battle of the last alliance: oh Thranduil is just a big child woth no experience and is a hauty drunk.

Thranduil, who was born in the age of the trees alongside his twin Miriel and babysat the -we’s, who decided to stay with his mother amongst the silvans when the elves went on their great journey to valinor: ok...

The Noldor and Sindar, who witnessed legolas participate in the fellowship of the ring: Legolas is such a young elf! Practically a baby! He didn’t even witness the Battle of the Last alliance! He’s so sheltered in Mirkwood!

Legolas, youngest of 4, born a millenia before the end of the second age, babysat Elrond’s kids, is a highranking official in Greenwood’s army, has been holding back sauron for centuries: Sure.

not being able to blaze posts that are already being blazed is a major flaw imho. if you're looking at the post normally and not seeing the blazed version there's no indication that's what's happening so the post just looks unblazable. also i want the option to see something being blazed onto my dash and immediately make it worse.

#em draws stuff #travel light #this image has been about a year in the making (I wanted to draw it when I first read it but I only got to it now) #my thoughts on travel light are. well they are this image primarily. #been a while and a while since I drew in this style and it feels GOOD to be doing it again!! #wish I'd figured out a way to fit steinvor into the composition but it was a hard squish even to include tarkan der (and he's very tiny) #the way I've done the mountains are purposefully referencing one of the earlier covers of the hobbit as I love jirt's painting style #and it seemed apt for various things about the way travel light exists and the kinds of things it has to say #it is right on the edge of where legend meets life when it comes to depicting early medieval europe and it's. well. read it actually. #book that makes you want to listen to 'to holmgard and beyond' by turisas except exactly backwards #(in the varangian way they are going the other direction and also they are much more (to put it as halla would) dragonish about it) #song I first heard in the context of an absolutely wild 8tracks playlist in 2015 which changed my music taste forever. anyway. #really I must read more naomi mitchison except that no library in the entire state of california appears to have a copy of the big house :/ #anyway anyway. if I ever get my own copy of this book I Will be rebinding it to have this for a cover I like it so very much

Not gonna lie I’m a bit nostalgic for the 2013 hobbit movie fandom…like, were the hobbit movies good? No. But because they were not indeed good you had this entire fandom dedicated to being like “Ok but they were ONTO something here! It’s rocky but you can see how the general idea could work! The movies are not going places so I will !” And I think that’s so valid. 

The films had so many gems of good ideas and frustratingly wasted potential, lost in oceans of so much Nothing, that it makes you want to seize them and Fix them (at least if like me you were about 12 when the first one came out)…But yeah I guess the one good thing that came out of the hobbit trilogy is all the extremely high-effort passion project bagginshield fanfics

Listen, what if the blue wizards, when they went to the east, were converted into believing in the old/avari gods?

Like, it’s not that they forgot/don’t believe in the valar, but some of the shit they’ve seen could not have been possible wihout divine intervention and they know for a fact that none of the ainur were responsible, ergo: the elves from lake cuivinen/the silvans/avari were onto something when they started praying to Akami, Okrea, Zeht, etc.

What was/is your favorite book series?

I feel like a parent being asked to choose who their favorite kid is lmao.

When I think of books that I keep re-reading I think of the The Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce in her Tortall universe. It was one of my first big fantasy novels I read as a kid/young teenager and I loved it. Daine is one of my favorite protagonists to this day.

When I think more generally I love LOTR even though I don’t re-read it often because of the length, but I just love the prose and detailed imagery. Reading Tolkien changed my writing style and I’d like to think I’m a better writing because of it.
