Finally back on his home station of Centauri, Anthony’s reconnection with his mothers is tense after being away so long, but he was bracing for that. Meanwhile, Azi is fascinated by the family dynamics, not to mention the most beautiful place he’s ever seen. It’s almost a wonder to him that Anthony ever wanted to leave.

Chapter 16: Vows

Three years ago, when Anthony came to the realization that he wouldn’t be able to return Centauri Station for some time, he had to seal off the part of himself that would miss it. Now, it doesn’t fully sink in that he’s really back home until he’s giving Azi a tour. He’s actually here. He made it. And with his favorite person in the universe by his side, no less. 

Their final stop is the archive gardens, the most beautiful area of the station, where Anthony can finally ask Azi an important question.

Chapter 17: Home

With their marriage official, Azi and Anthony return to Anthony’s mothers’ flat to share the good news. A celebratory dinner outing follows, and Anthony marvels at how normal and cozy life feels on Centauri after several years away. 

Since they’ve decided to make the station their permanent home, there are lots of details to sort out, such as finding a flat of their own, and Azi finds himself wishing that they could skip ahead to a time when everything is settled—simply because he’s so excited for the life they’ll build together.

On one of Anthony's routine work nights, chaos erupts on Balthazar Station after a human terrorist group attacks multiple alien establishments. With transportation options limited and communication lines down, Anthony does his best to get home to a very worried Azi as quickly as possible.

In the aftermath, with the lizard club closed and in disrepair, Anthony has no idea where he'll turn next for money... Until Anathema appears and says the last thing he ever expected.

Six months after establishing Centauri Station as their permanent home, Anthony and Azi have fallen into a happy routine. Anthony has found work he genuinely enjoys, and coming home to his husband in their cozy flat is even better.

Now that Anthony’s birthday has rolled around, his mothers insist on a party. Azi is thrilled to be celebrating. Anthony just goes with the flow ... until the end of the night, when he gets one of the biggest surprises (and best gifts) of his life.

Anthony has frequented the alien lizard club as a human “pet” enough times that he’s become kind of numb to the whole thing... Until disaster strikes one night and a friend is injured. Fortunately, Anthony may know a certain doctor who can help. 

After that, the night takes yet another an unexpected turn: To a zone of Balthazar Station set up to look like a beachside resort on a planet, complete with a simulated sunrise. Azi might just be having the most fun of anyone there.

Perhaps one of the only benefits of the cold, chaotic world where Dr. Azi Fell grew up is that he’s now well-prepared for disaster. There is hardly a medical crisis that can compare to the endless warfare he witnessed in his youth, and as a soldier, he was conditioned to focus on a single task under any circumstances. So, three months into his time on Eden Station, when the infirmary ER is suddenly overflowing with burn victims after an explosion on the engineering level, he springs into action without hesitation.

It’s only when he receives word that Anthony Crowley has arrived in critical condition that he feels an odd crack in his calm.

It’s become a habit, now, for them to suggest things to each other. Anthony’s infirmary appointments, once a source of ever-present dread, have now become the highlight of his life on Eden Station. Because he’s clearly a fucking idiot.

For their first dinner date on the extravagant Balthazar Station, Azi and Anthony visit a restaurant described as “ultra-romantic,” which turns out to be an understatement. The place looks like something out of a dream, with realistic trees bearing lanterns at every table, and Azi is swept away by the splendor. As they enjoy the atmosphere, and each other’s company, the conversation takes a more serious turn when Anthony asks Azi about the future ... and the rest of the night is certainly one to remember.

Chapter 10: Balthazar

Balthazar Station is the perfect opposite of Eden in every way: Big, flashy, extravagant, fun. Well, “fun” for some people. Tourists looking for a non-stop party, anyway. Not for Anthony, who wouldn’t even be there if he didn’t need a new way to make lots of money fast and pay off his debt. It’s one thing to be in this ridiculous place, but to have dragged sweet Azi here with him is something else entirely. At least Azi seems charmed by the spectacle. For now.

On his first night out, Anthony has no idea where he’ll end up or if he’ll have any luck finding work. The answer turns out to be far more bizarre than anything he ever imagined, even on this station.

Eden Station has become too dangerous for Anthony, so he and Azi are preparing to move on to start fresh. The thought is a bit daunting for Anthony, since he isn’t sure how long it will take to find new work on the famously extravagant Balthazar Station, and his debt clock is ticking. But at least for now he’s healthy, and they can relax together as a ship carries them through space, on the way to their new home. 

“This place isn’t safe for you anymore, and I’m not willing to be parted from you. So, we’ll leave, and we’ll figure out where to go next. Together.”
