#reason i wanted to change koe's design was bc i felt like the first one was a bit too basic ig?#wanted to give it more personality beyond being a maid outfit #so a funkier skirt and shorter sleeves and gloves and stuff. idk its more koe and less maid. but still maid #other than that obviously are the two wholly new characters #honestly designing them was interesting in a way bc it was like reverse engineering andys face #i think she takes after her mom more tho #but she also does try to emulate her so thats also part of it #honestly andy is really similar to amary in a lot of ways not just bc of the whole princess thing but the family dynamics to a degree too #there are still some pretty big differences (andy wasnt abused but her father is still really strict and constraining out of worry #and amary's mom was actually kinda the polar opposite of andy's and their emulations are completely different too)#BUT #look read cepheus's flaw. hes not going to be a good guy lol #hes the type that starts out nice enough on the surface but when pushed it will become. again. ends justify the means #very.... only bad thing about being in a fandom where one of the characters canonically has wings is the painful lack of classic wingfic. where is my everything's the same but people have bird wings watford au where one day baz notices simon hasn't been grooming his wings bc of an injury to his ribs so he sits on his bed and makes a whole fuss about how "i'm not doing this to be nice, snow, your wings are just a travesty to look at" and then proceeds to carefully and lovingly tidy his feathers in drawn out silence while they both pretend grooming someone else's wings isn't one of the most intimate things you can do for another person. will this heartbreak never end

#i have an old wingfic that never left the zero draft stage and it was suuuper fucking plotty #simon was still the chosen one in it but not in a weird sex magic kinda way like he was just home grown like that so no humdrum #so lucy is alive and he grew up with her and the mage (and they have a dog!) (simon named her ''little simon'' lmfao)#meanwhile baz isn't a vampire but natasha still died when he was five bc ok i don't know how to explain the lore behind this #bc it has to do with a skeevy blackmarket trade involving human wings like it was kinda dark ngl #but the long and short of it is that baz and tasha are kidnapped and tasha is killed keeping baz safe but baz's wings are damaged #pretty severely and so one of them never grows to full size and it leaves him flightless #n e way simon and baz don't get on bc the mage is still the mage and the old families are still the old families #but they are roommates as usual #and half-term their eighth year pitch manor is raided by blackmarket poachers and mordelia is kidnapped and the whole grimm family is #in shambles so baz goes right to simon about it and there's this reverse of the simon-showing-up-at-baz's-door scene #where baz shows up at simon's door a complete WRECK to ask for help getting his sister back #and simon is like. why are you asking ME for help?#and baz is like. bc you're the only one i know who can #and then they fucking steal one of the mage's cars and hit the road [so good right now by fall out boy starts playing]#and then it's just kind of a normal mission fic about them finding mordelia and saving her life and baz falls out a very high window #and simon catches him etc.#i love wingfics so much #sighs wistfully #i think i need to be alone w my gdocu for while #valen and the void

When someone tells you they don't like hugs, that's not an invitation for you to "cure them". It is not a "you" thing, although sometimes it might be. You thinking "they have to get used to it" because "your hugs are different" and "that's how you show love" is not a valid argument. Hugging them out of the blue as a goodbye is not cool either. I do see that the series takes some of the themes from Ovid's work and as much as I do have a mixed opinion on it since his work wasn't necessarily supposed to be an official roman version of things but political criticism of the government as well as a way to trash the greeks, it does work well with the overall theme and narrative that Percy Jackson has built up with how gods are fallible and in fact had done a lot of wrong and them ignoring their kids is an awful thing and they should be better parents.

Like, yeah, I do have my own gripes with the usage of Ovid's Medusa rather than the original Greek one in the story, but it does work with the larger narrative of the series so it's not that big of a deal for me.

btw my mom said it. she said it to me looking me in the eyes. i told her about how difficult it was for me to get through those family reunions, and she admitted it was very important to her, important enough that she was just going to do it anyway.

#my grandma fell and broke her hip in october last year #and basically the end of 2023 was a whirlwind of really negative emotions all around for her and me and my whole family #of course there were good moments in between but overall it hit us all pretty hard #i got to her house just now and she walked all the way from the office to the kitchen to get the door for me and i saw her walk all the way #back with minimal difficulty and also going kinda fast with her new walker #and i’m in tears writing this bc we didn’t know if she was gonna walk again #she was depressed her stomach was a mess and she barely ate and other conditions worsened and made it that much harder for her to get better #now she’s finally starting to look and be like the woman i know she is and it makes me feel so relieved #i never doubted that she could get better but god it feels so good to see her be better

Truly amazing to me how people bagged on Avatar for having 'no fandom' for years and yet when i write two fics in the week after i saw the film they get a higher engagment than any other work ever has. it's been an incredibly nice experiance
