hieee i got the first of the higu novelizations written with kanji (+ furi) a grade schooler could understand JKJAKLSD!!!! i'm gonna study with it!! just set up anki and everything. might mess around with anki while (re)reading some alice, try to learn some more basic kanji through that so i can avoid having to ocr / manually enter them for flashcards while reading the higu novel... but... super excited! i can already read the first bern poem w/o help which was a nice little ego boost <3

The other thing about the Renesmee storyline that bothers me (other than it not really making sense that only half of the vampire species retains fertility, or that it rubs motherhood in Esme and Rosalie's face, or I just don't vibe with supernatural pregnancy/creepily smart children stories) is that it sort of invalidates all the cool stuff SM did with found families.

The Cullens are LITERALLY a found family--Carlisle found Edward, Esme and Rosalie; Rosalie found Emmett; Alice found Jasper and then then Cullens; Edward found Bella. They aren't actually related at all, but they created this bond, this family, and that's so interesting to me how they come from different places, different time periods, and still make this work. Fascinating!

And the wolfpack, too! Now some of them are actually related, but generally as like second or third cousins. I don't know about you, but I only really know my first cousins, and even then not all that well. I had a second cousin in my homeroom in high school and even though we had the same last name I didn't know her at all. We just shared great-grandparents that died before we were born. So to me the pack also has that found family vibe. Sam as the pack dad despite being so young himself. Emily as the pack mom, making snacks and giving the boys a place to hang out at her house. The brotherly joking and bickering and fighting between all the guys. You can tell in these scenes that SM grew up with brothers. I did, too, and there are moments that really capture that, even though other than Seth and Leah, none of them are actually siblings.

But then she throws in Renesmee and it sort of feels like, "well, found family is good enough for the others, but Edward and Bella need a REAL family." Esme "makes do with substitutes" but E/B get a REAL child, and that just did not sit well with me. And in the movies Edward even has LINES that reflect that vibe, when he's standing with Alice and Jasper as the wolves attack in BD pt1 and says like "I won't let them hurt my family;" like Alice and Jasper themselves aren't also his family. Or in BD Pt2 when he tells Bella, "You've given me something to fight for: a family." Again, like he hasn't had a family all this time. I get that when you become a spouse and parent your definition of family can change but it still just felt kind of like a slap in the face considering we spent all this time with the other characters and they have all risked their lives so this Edward/Bella/Nessie family can even exist. Including the shifters!! And maybe she didn't mean anything by it, but because Nessie is the only biological child in the Cullen family is does come off that it's superior to the other kinds of bonds somehow.

I don't know, it just sort of feels like biological family is elevated above the found families. For example, in the books, Renesmee doesn't actually call them Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper like in the movie, she only calls them Alice and Jasper. Charlie gets to be Grandpa, but Alice and Jasper aren't Aunt and Uncle.

And I really liked the found family stuff, so this "REAL family now" vibe was . . . not my favorite.

Spare the Erron Black headcanons. 🫴

Warning, this is dark from the get-go because Erron's family are scum and he is not a happy man. (TW for: Mentions of child abuse, implied CSA, alcoholism, and suicidal ideology.)

My headcanons are thought of with MK11 retconned Erron in mind; however, it isn't really relevant outside of his hometown (which didn't exist until the 1920s). So really, you can think of this with either backstory you'd like.

His birth name is not Erron Black; he changed his name when he grew up and left Wickett. He wanted to reinvent himself.

Erron's father left either when he was a baby or before he was born. (Though, really, I'm kind of stumped because he said he didn't know his father, then found and killed him, and implied that his father is/was worse than Rain's father. Like... how? For leaving him with his mother? Or maybe it was just Erron's narcissism causing him to feel like his problem is always worse than anyone else's?? Idk, and I doubt the MK11 writers do either! 🙃)

Erron has an older sister, his only good family member. She's 3-5 years older than him.

The rest of his family were awful. His mom was physically and verbally abusive, the other adults were pretty much the same, and his cousins picked on him for being the "scrawny" one.

His uncle was the worst kind of abusive. "Funny ain't the word for it" with the utmost disdain in his voice, my mind naturally goes to the worst scenario. Some redneck stabbed and killed the guy in a bar fight when Erron was a teenager, and he has been bitter since then that he was robbed of getting to kill his uncle himself.

His sister feels guilt for not protecting him from their mother or uncle, even though they were both just children. She didn't even know the SA was happening until he told her when they were older. (This is more of a headcanon for her, but it's in my mind, so I must mention it.)

He left home and changed his name in his late teens.

Erron is a bit of an alcoholic. No surprise, considering his life.

Subconsciously, Erron wants to die, but he thinks he wants to live. That's why he's so reckless, other than his thrill-seeking.

Erron has a weird relationship with morality. Part of him has very loose morals, part of him is an actual sadist, and part of him has a strange sense of moral superiority. (He freed Cassie and Jacqui from the BD for reasons unknown, he says Sindel seems "a little too proud" when bragging that she murdered Jerrod.)

He hates caring about others. And if he begins to care, he pushes them away. Examples are: Cheating on Nitara with Skaret, and dumping Skarlet "because he got bored." (Only partly true, as Erron does get bored easily.)

He's a smoker, but he's addicted to them.

My bs Jimmy Kurosaki bs (backstory obvs) ✨✌️✨

Notes: Jimmy's debut in canon is 2076. Age is unknown, but I'm basing his age off his appearance on the assumption that he doesn't have any implants that slow his physical aging. Looking at Kerry and Rogue in Cyberpunk 2077, they appear to be in their 50s to 60s, but they're both in their late 80s, walking around like 30-somethings. Of course, Jimmy may have had some additional cosmetic surgery done other to his face, other than his nose and chin 🤷‍♀️. To me, he looks to be 35 - 45, tho I'm taking the middle age, so 40.

Jimmy was born in Japantown, Night City, to a couple who were a part of the Tyger Claws. His parents were mainly braindance (BD) editors, tho his mother was more focused on trafficking for extreme braindances (XBDs), drug production and being a hooligan on the streets. His father was the expert at producing the edits for the XBDs. Due to his mother's drug addiction, he was mainly raised by his father, often accompanying him to work. Jimmy often witnessed his father being abused at work. Most of the time he would be entertained by member of Tyger Claws or was given BDs to watch while his father was busy with work. When he was around five years old, his.mother died of a drug overdose.

From the age of six, he was taught how to edit braindances by his father, much to his father's dismay, as he did not want to expose his son directly and emotionally to the violent and sexual nature of the braindances he had to edit. To compromise, Jimmy was taught to edit more tame BDs such as Tyger Claw highway getaways and chases, and the occasional act of physical violence, like a person mugging and beating them up. His talents were soon recognised by high ranking members, and wanted Jimmy to focus on editing and tuning XBDs - his age was no longer considered despite his father's protests. They were widely successful.

When he was around ten, his father quietly stole from Tyger Claws, attempting to sell Jimmy's edits so that he could make enough money to have him and Jimmy leave Night City, and in turn, Tyger Claws. Realising that his edits were sold for rather high prices due to their demand, Jimmy believed in his own talents and believed he could carve his own path to success, not live in poor conditions with his father. Within six months of his father selling some of Jimmy's edits, certain Tyger Claw heads found out. One day, whilst the two were editing, his father was approached by a couple members and escorted out of the studio. That was the last time Jimmy ever saw him again. Orphaned at ten, Jimmy took residence with his cousin and family, members of Tyger Claws.

Staying on their good side, Jimmy gave into their exploitation of him, continuously producing quality BDs and XBDs alike that was quickly sought after. He eventually returned to his childhood home when he was fifteen and finally started being paid for his work. His desire to leave and become successful never left him. Whilst creating XBD edits for Tyger Claws, he would create one version for Tyger Claws and a separate version for himself, ones which he would sell off under the alias of Mr Kurosaki. His plan was to eventually leave the Tyger Claws, Night City and run run his own private studio, creating successful commercial BDs before delving into custom BDs and even XBDs. He even let his cousin know about his plans as he knew he shared the same desire to eventually leave as well.

During a little mission, his cousin managed to retrieve a scroll from a cyberpsycho killed and harvested. Instead of passing this to the producer to view, he passed this to Jimmy who then edited the BD and sold it on the black market. It became successful to the point it caught the attention of high ranking Tyger Claws members, particularly the producer. They eventually learn that the XBD edit was created by Jimmy, soon learning that the other BDs under his alias was made by him as well. They decided not to execute him due to his talent, however, he still received punishment. He was escorted to and from him the studio to his apartment and has had TC members keep an eye on him since. All profits he gained were stripped from him, having him survive on an allowance of 300 Eurobucks a week. And took to top it all off, he was also handed an XBD scroll of his cousin's execution to edit.

After his cousin's passing, Jimmy did his best to butter up to the higher ranking members, even going as far as pretending to not care about his cousin's death, trying his best to gain the their trust again. Despite his efforts, he was still treated horribly and exploited for his talents.

Until one day, at twenty years old, enough was enough. He managed to sneak an XBD he created (was already on the market) in exchange for an EMP grenade. When he entered the studio the next day, when he was sure everyone was distracted, he set off the grenade, affecting those within the vicinity of the explosion. He made a run for it. As he exited the building, some of Tyger Claw members chase after him. As Jimmy runs for his life thru Japantown, he collides into Monsoon who was happily walking the streets eating ramen.

- the bad batch(quintuplets) + domino twins are brothers and are boba and omega's first cousin once removed (so Jango's aunt/uncle's kids)

- pretty much everyone in the fett family joins the military to some degree

-Bd-1 is Cal's small dog, C3P0 is a golden retriever (or possibly a service dog for Ani due to childhood trauma) and R2 is a cat (maybe a tuxedo), Chewwie is one of those big super fluffy dogs, Chopper is a ginger cat, and Jar Jar is Padme's overly excitable yippy dog (couldn't decide on a breed)

- Hera and Kanan eventually adopt a wolf dog they name Dume, Chopper hates sharing attention

- Kanan adopts Ezra

- Sabine is related to Bo-Katan and Satine (somehow, I know she's the same clan so extended family!)

- After meeting clan Wren (I am writing this as I watch Rebels) I have decided Ursa was Satine and Bo-Katan's adpoted first cousin once removed

- Hera is totally Airforce, like I feel like that's the closest to her role in rebels, her and Kanan met in highschool

- their song, which later became their first dance at their wedding, is "Ain't no mountain high enough"

- Zeb is another friend of theirs from highschool, he was a year or two younger

- Zeb is a security guard, Ezra is an animal conservationist (see him and Loth wolves), his parents had a radio show where they talked about endangered species

- Kanan is a firefighter (because irony) and Cal is an elementary school teacher who is in charge of his school's fencing club

- in this au Kanan's injury comes from a job, once he's blinded he joins Ezra in his work

- Cere is a highschool music teacher, Merin is a history teacher who also has an elective cultures course, and Greez is a freelance pilot who's business is definitely totally 100% legal(/s aka he takes some shady jobs)

- Cere and Greez are neighbors, Merin works at the same school as Cere, and she meets Cal through her

- Din obviously adopts Grogu at some point, and Luke volunteers at the temple's Sunday school which is where he meets them(???)

- I feel like Luke would own a martial arts school, Leia becomes a politician like her mum, Anakin would be a robotics engineer

- Satine is prime Minister of Mandalore, Bo- Katan is either military or lawyer (she strikes me as the lawyer type), Sabine was going to join the military but ended up pursuing an artistic career, Korki wants to go into politics like his aunt

- Mandalore works like the u.s where it's a bunch of small countries a trench coat, except they're more functional... mostly

- Obi wan is either a social worker (helping other kids like Anakin) or some kind of diplomat, he only became a diplomat cause he took a few classes to spend more time with a cute international student *cough* Satine *cough* and found he was good at diplomacy

- Plo Koon and Ahsoka are body guards/ security, Plo has his own company, Ahsoka started as being in charge of marketing (I consulted my mom for Ahsoka's job and she suggested marketing because she's so bubbly)

Transform Silence into Action

Dear reader, I am not new to silence - I silence myself in so many ways, not even letting expression of who I am through. But this is not the time for silence. This is not the time to be a bystander - it is a time to learn, to reflect deeply, to speak out, and to act. This page has a good starter kit for reaching out to politicians.

I am here as a Jewish 3rd generation Holocaust survivor to say,

stop killing our cousins! stop killing people!

As someone who has been highly attuned to the suffering of genocidal violence, I purposefully align myself with others targeted by these kinds of harm. I know that punishing, displacing, traumatizing, killing others is not the way to a world where my people or any people can live in well-being and peace.

It is all too easy for our own traumas, our own victimhood to translate into justification for harming others - to say, "I have been hurt these ways, and so it is Okay or even Right for me to hurt others like this, to get what I need to live well".

This is not the only possible response, though. Through the powers of transformative justice and other many paths of growing, healing, and well-being, it truly is possible for all life to exist in balance and flow with each other. May we be people who say - "I have been hurt, You have been hurt, They have been hurt in these ways - We never want anyone to be hurt like this ever again." I know the Palestinian people deserve to be free from harm, free to return, free to be welcomed back joyously by their land. May their homes be returned and rebuilt, may their trees sink roots deep and grow branches full of luscious fruit. May all Palestinian people have ample time, space, and support to mourn and heal.

we must acknowledge the sheer scale of the losses happening now. with 14,000 dead and more being killed every day, this not just individuals, not just families, but entire bloodlines, and many of them - hundreds upon hundreds, steadily moving towards a thousand. A thousand whole family groups, whole last names, whole bloodlines, just gone from the world. Those who have not been killed by the bombs and guns are dying of starvation, dehydration, and exposure to the elements and toxicity from bombs and rubble - outside under tarps, as the cold moves in. ALL of these are preventable deaths, and ALL of them are purposefully created. This four day ceasefire (ahead of which the Israeli military has rolled out four days worth of bombing in one day) is not the end of these atrocities, and we need to continue to find our voices - not sink into complacency with a 'pause'. In fact, Israel's defence minister has outright stated that they will resume 'fighting' for at least two months after the 'pause' has ended.

we all deserve to live in a world without mass murder; the Palestinian people deserve to be free. As do Armenian people, Congolese people, Wet'sue'ten people, Sudanese people, Yemeni people, Romani people, and all peoples facing genocide - especially those Indigenous and diasporic. All of these ongoing massacres and genocides are supported by the same network of Imperial power.

Rise. Learn. Speak. Act.

Look up where and when your local protests and direct actions are happening - many cities have weekly events. Call your government reps - or if that's too daunting, email and fax them. Check out the BDS short list of targeted boycotts. Speak about these tragedies and how they hurt us all with your friends, your family, and the people around you as much as possible.

Let us join together to create a safer, kinder, more whole world, with dignity and freedom from harm for all. With a heavy yet determined heart, ollie o.

tbh i don't see Leah/Alice happening ever.

if we're following canon's "rules of the road," baseline, they are mortal enemies who instinctively find each other unappealing down to the scent. imagine dating someone who smells like a dumpster. yike

they're also both coming to the table with baggage against the other's species. Alice, who loves to be in control & whose gift is an integral part of who she is, would go absolutely bonkers not being able to see Leah. not only that, but anywhere Leah was, & anyone she interacted with — be it the Cullens, the pack, or her enemies — would be blocked from Alice's sight. that aside, Alice does not consider the wolves her equals, calling them awful, dehumanizing slurs like "dog" and "mutt". double yikes

Leah is coming at this relationship with even more baggage. her father was indirectly killed by vampires. her humanity was stripped from her by vampires. she's had to give everything to protect Local Vampire Fucker Bella Swan, of all people, from vampires. Leah has a lot of bitterness & mistrust towards vamps that is not resolved by the end of BD. i see her having an especially difficult time trusting Little Miss Future-Manipulator Alice Cullen.

but this mistrust extends far beyond Alice's species. it's important to remember that in Leah's prior relationship, Sam Uley dumped her due to a cosmic connection & ran off with her best friend/second cousin (yikes x3). so, look at this from Leah's perspective. she knows Alice has a mate. no matter how deep their love may be, Alice's #1 will always be Local Confederate Bootlicker Jasper Hale. likewise, Leah is at the mercy of her species. she knows she may someday meet her imprint, & at that point, all bets are off. canon says her imprint will never be Alice anyway; imprinting is all about picking the most breedable person to pass on the wolf gene (yikes x10000). tbh, we don't even know if Leah can imprint since she apparently cannot reproduce. (ran out of yikes; straight white-knuckling my utter displeasure)
