Thomas Nathan Teets aka Arthur Storez, Pennsylvania inmate NE1969, born 1985, incarceration intake in 2017 at age 32, sentenced to 15 to 30 years
Murder, Aggravated assault, Abuse of a corpse, Theft, Robbery, Tampering with evidence
A Dawson man will serve 15 to 30 years behind bars for third-degree murder in the death of a Bullskin Township woman, a deal the victim's family agreed to under the assurance they could bring her body home.
Thomas Nathan Teets, 32, pleaded guilty in Fayette County Court to killing Leah Marie Owens, 31, on Sept. 15, 2017. He stabbed her to death and hid her body in a shallow grave where investigators said no one would have ever found her.
"I just pray to God that Leah is at peace now," said her mother, Camilla "Cammy" Crosby, before Teets was sentenced. "It took 45 days. We got her home."
Family members and friends filled the largest courtroom at the Fayette County Courthouse, clutching packs of tissues with dazed expressions, receiving encouraging pats on their shoulders from those already seated. The closest members of the family filed in behind solemn-faced investigators, expressions raw with grief as they faced Teets just days after their fears were confirmed that Owens had been murdered.
Crosby reported her daughter missing Sept. 20 when she failed to check in with family, a regular occurrence for the mother of two. After thousands of hours of investigation, state police charged Teets in her death just days before he pleaded guilty. They did so without having found her body.
After Teets was arraigned on the charges, investigators questioned him throughout the day. State police Cpl. Heather Clem-Johnston, who was in frequent contact with the family throughout the investigation, called Crosby to see if she would agree to the plea bargain if Teets confessed and took them to Owens' body.
She responded, "Bring my daughter home," said District Attorney Rich Bower.
By late afternoon, police said he led them to Owens' body in Dunbar Township.
"Does he deserve more time? In my opinion, yes," Bower said during the sentencing before Judge Steve P. Leskinen. "But we did this for the family, once we knew who the murderer was."
"It's a different situation, and one that's done at great speed," Leskinen said, adding that the plea agreement was below the mitigated range for third-degree murder. "The family's wishes are something we intend to honor."
When the judge asked Teets if he was guilty of all six crimes – third-degree murder, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse, theft, robbery and tampering with evidence – he responded, "Yes, sir."
Teets remained seated and turned toward Crosby briefly.
"I'd like to say I'm sorry for hurting your family," he said, appearing unemotional.
Earlier this week, Owens' older sister, Lauren Solosky, said the family could not bear to sit through days of a trial listening to the details of her death after already waiting five weeks to learn her fate. She called the waiting process a "nightmare" for Owens' family and friends.
Shane Gannon, who was representing Teets through the Fayette County Public Defender's Office, said he was involved with the case for several weeks, since late September when Teets was jailed for contempt in a domestic case. Teets told the judge he was satisfied with his representation.
Crosby, who is battling cancer, said she would wake up every morning wondering if her daughter's disappearance was only a nightmare. She would wake often wake up in the middle of the night.
"Pouring down rain, and the wind is blowing, and it's cold. And you pray to God your child isn't freezing. She's not getting wet," she said. "It was horrendous for all those days."
The morning of the murder, Owens went with Teets to Crosby's home. Both times, Owens asked for money, which investigators said was to pay a debt to Teets. Solosky also wired Owens money that day.
Owens left her mother's house, saying she would be back in 20 minutes after taking a shower. Crosby left for her radiation treatment.
"But I never heard from Leah again after that, and I knew within hours – mother's intuition – that something bad had happened. I knew it," she said.
She went door-to-door, asking about her daughter's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Teets dug a grave about two-feet deep and buried Owens' body, less than one mile from where investigators said he bought drugs.
"It was in a heavily thicketed area where, in our opinion, no hunter or anyone else would have stumbled upon Leah," said Bower.
Charges were filed after lab results matched Owens' DNA to blood found on a knife blade and identified Teets' blood on the handle. The knife was found in a Owens' abandoned car by Normalville fire department. Owen's blood was also found on the car.
Teets cut off part of his finger during the stabbing, which Bower described as a permanent reminder of his crimes, dubbing him "the nine-fingered man."
Teets confessed he murdered Owens to many people, according to Bower. The keys of Owens' vehicle were found hidden in a vent in his house.
Members of the family exchanged hugs with investigators as they left the courthouse.
"I wanted Leah home. I don’t know what my future holds. None of us know what our future holds," Crosby said. "We needed Leah home for her closure and for the closure of her babies, and for all this I thank everybody from the bottom of my heart."

Don Johnson Filmography - Free Links!
Instead of you spending countless joyful hours trawling the web for grainy old '70s flicks, I did it for you! Here's a list of FREE places to watch DJ's stuff.
This list will be in reverse chronological order as they appear on IMDb. Some are just placeholders until (if) better links can be found, and some are bootlegs from other countries. I'm excluding music videos since those aren't hard to find.
And if you want to skip boring/annoying plot but don't want to miss him, I've made a key:
MC (main character) - much of the story involves his character and he is onscreen often
SC (side character) - only part of the story involves his character, so he's onscreen far less often than other characters
C (cameo) - he's got one or two scenes and they're small, in which case I'll mark his appearances in 0:00:00 format
I'm leaving most content warnings to viewer discretion, but some I don't feel comfortable ignoring. Also, some of the YouTube vids may get taken down at any moment :( If you like something, back it up! I'm using KMPlayer to download my faves, but I've heard you can also use VLC.
>> Links below cut! <<
First, check out my list from Tubi which has the most high quality versions of his work and TV appearances. If it's on Tubi, it won't be on this post!
Home Movie: The Princess Bride - (C, 0:41:30) the entire film is hilarious, especially if you've seen the original; made by a bunch of celebs during quarantine.
Knives Out - (SC) ok, there's no link, but i'm begging you to go buy this movie on DVD it's like $5-$10 tops in stores these days.
Moondance Alexander - (SC, 0:18:20)
Just Legal - (MC, eight episodes)
Word of Honor - (MC) this vid has "helium" audio and other insufferable flaws.
Goodbye Lover - (SC, login req)
In Pursuit of Honor - (MC) WARNING: animal death/abuse
G.I. Joe: The Movie - (SC, voice only, 0:30:35...) spare yourself, skip this movie that he probably did for his kid.
Tales of the Unexpected - (SC; one episode)
Matt Houston - (SC; one episode)
Melanie - (SC)
Soggy Bottom, U.S.A. - (SC; German dub) clips of his character.
Elvis and the Beauty Queen - (MC; Portuguese subtitles)
Revenge of the Stepford Wives - (SC, 0:12:40, 0:25:15...) he has multiple scenes including one at the end, but these movies stress me out.
Beulah Land - (SC) only in part 1, but his character is replaced by a young Jonathan Frakes in part 2. WARNING: non-graphic rape
From Here to Eternity - (C, one episode, 0:07:10, 0:36:00)
The Rebels (MC, two-parts)
Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill - (SC, 0:13:39...)
First, You Cry - (SC, first scene, 0:24:20, 0:44:20, 0:57:07, 1:15:38, 1:32:16)
Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold - (C, 0:19:48, 0:32:19, 0:44:03...) can't stomach this film to find the rest of his scenes, he's a very minor character.
The American Girls - he's not in this! the main male character is played by the lovely Charles Haid from Hillstreet Blues, but it isn't listed on Haid's IMDb. Also, the character he plays does not go by the name DJ is listed under for that episode, so maybe DJ's in a different one? Regardless, I only found two episodes and DJ is in neither.
Ski Lift to Death - (SC) he shows up in the second video...don't make me watch this.
What Really Happened to the Class of '65? - TV spot w/ the only footage of him that I can find.
Cover Girls - (SC, 0:27:21, 0:40:40, 01:01:15...)
The City - (MC) costarring Mark Hamil
Barnaby Jones - (SC, one episode) I watched this and now it's missing...it sucked anyway. DJ plays an amateur arms dealer with a sickly son, a wife in jail, and a hideous mustache. He loses.
The Streets of San Francisco - (SC, one episode)
Law of the Land - (MC)
Return to Macon County - (MC) login to YT req but there is also a Spanish dub that doesn't req login. costarring Nick Nolte
A Boy and His Dog - (MC) this version has the nude scenes edited out, sign in to YT for the full cut; much higher quality than Tubi. WARNING: rape, etc.
The Rookies - (SC, one episode) costarring Nick Nolte
Kung Fu - making an executive decision here uhhh skip this one
The Harrad Experiment - (MC; two-parter w/ odd in-video ads that you can easily fast forward) WARNING: they all get naked
The Bold Ones: The New Doctors - (MC, one episode)
Lollipops, Roses and Talangka - (SC; some scenes in Tagalog) can't find the 1975 sequel or much information on English sites, but one Filipino fanblog implies the film may no longer exist.
Zachariah (MC)
Endlessly impressed by how much has been preserved and curated over the years. Even if a ton of it was junk, it's nice to save people's hard work and memories :)

My son was building a house out of concrete panels he could get the panels if he was building a house out of CMU you would get CMU here as well but you don't feel like you should do anything like that so sit back and pat yourself in the back for doing nothing
-there's a few other things happening one of them is these guys are being very classic here caustic and evil and their threats are increasing and it is not surprising and we need to come in here and just place them on a constant basis the morlock and all that all of them and they're very evil people and Trump is probably the worst is a massive massive caustic a****** and he threatens our son non-stop every day same with this Dave Dan guy and we need them out of here I want them out now and I'm sending the orders
-the pseudo empire is in trouble and our son is looked at as someone who's trying to point out problems for them and he pointed out some and he got a backlash and it's fierce and the empire is horrible and they know it what they want around chastising him so we're going to start eating them up too if they have territory here it's ours
-they're mean people and don't know what they're doing and Ken is going to pull out Biden has said it many many times I can't support the actions that you're doing and I don't think I should and they're both going to go to miscellaneous mac Daddy doesn't have a choice he that has to stay with his more or less and it looks like Justin is backing out and Timmy Doyle is going to go rogue and he said it this morning. The only resigned to try and do their own thing and they're not very good at it and they're failing and it doesn't look good but that's what they're kind of doing so it might work that he get stuff because of that and usually makes a little harder but I don't think so in this case there's other news
-the island of New Zealand is a mess the trumpsters are dying rapidly their percentages are down to 1.6% and soon 1% of being attacked topside and below while they're sending people below but their bunkers are being assaulted 0.75% of their personnel and they're almost at 1% and the broncos are being attacked and it's large forces of Mac down below fairly soon they'll be gone and then the trumpsters will be only around 1% of the populace by later on today if they continue but you know they're trying to get their stashes and caches and they can't help it that's very small and The fleets of his there's two billion warlock ships left and his are going to break away and make for Venus and they all will all die and we're going to attack them fiercely as well others there's going to be a reckoning but as the remaining fleet he's about half of it about 0.75% of the fleet and people don't want to screw it up and he is he has ships and he has only a few and it looks like in the movies he has a lot but he does not he has like a million and he probably gets about 400,000 up and it's a menace and people go after him and he does not last long. But this is what's happening today they're crumbling and falling fairly soon they will become very sick and die from disease here in the pseudo empire and they are a handful and useless lots of times they did get him through school and educated but they're using the empire's power so it's a bear but they are rebels and they face them down in a few things but now they're weak and they're kind of tough to deal with and we need to send in people and the max are and foreigners right now it's such a small percentage of Florida people wondered where they were and they're all crammed on the West Coast in North Port Sarasota Bradenton Tampa Cape Coral Naples and fort Myers and Charlotte county that's where everybody is and out of the percentage here they're probably 30% of Charlotte county and as you go upwards it goes to 20% 10% and 5% of Tampa and the same to the South so the obviously to do is to come in from the outside and it's a pain in the ass but that's what's happening last night they lost 20 households today 20 more around to go out there and to try and break the rings and nobody is going to be there to come over this way there's only a small bunch over there but they think that other people's will and they won't but they're trying to rally them and it looks like they're talking to their own people and they give them real numbers and they're just out to lunch other than that they are going to just sit here and rot and that's what they said.
-however bja is planning on firing them to be the last one here to have possession of some sort whatever it might be and he needs protection now on Australia and he doesn't have any they do too the trumps and it's going to be fierce and the fighting will begin shortly
-added to that is the fight between the pseudo empire and the clones who are not going after diamonds in their areas which are not too big and the pseudo empire is bothering them about it and there's going to be a battle and it will probably turn into a war the remainder of the three billion ships are out are heating up and we get
-1 billion sheep ships are heating up of the morlock fleet that remains and only 1 billion will be left and they say they're heading towards Venus and we have record that shows they are. It's time to mobilize these ships have special half of them most of the fleets only had 15% special to 20%, these have 50% special it's going to require a lot more weaponry so move out
Thor Freya
We're preparing for war with them here and we're getting ready these warlocks say they're going to kidnap our son by force we're going to false flag it and destroy them both actually all four groups
Olympus
We're going to make this plane and simple you people are out of line and you should never have done any of that yet you did all of it you were resisting a little bit not much

School segregation between Mexican and white students in Orange County, California, was widespread in the mid-1940s, with 80% of Mexican students attending 14 segregated schools. These schools taught Mexican children manual education – or gardening, bootmaking, blacksmithing, and carpentry for Mexican boys and sewing and homemaking for girls – while white schools taught academic preparation. The landmark case Mendez vs. Westminster (1947) desegregated Orange County schools, after the Mendez family were denied enrollment into the 17th Street School in Westminster in 1944, despite their cousins with lighter skin being admitted, and were instead told to enroll at the Hoover Elementary School for Mexican children. (Wikipedia)
In the years since Brown v. Board, the demographics of segregation have become entrenched within New York City’s public schools. In the mid-1960s, nearly half of students were White. Today’s school populations are roughly 41% Latino, 24% Black, 17% Asian, and 15% White. Over 8 in 10 Black students and over 7 in 10 Latino students attend a school where more than 90% of their classmates are students of color; 34% of White students are enrolled in a school that is over half-White. Nationally, New York City’ relies on academic screening for admission more than any other locale in the United States, utilizing a tool that drives segregation by race and class. Some Black and Latino students who attend schools where they are numerically underrepresented report that they don’t feel integrated. As I report in my book, one Black youth reflected: “Everyday walking through these doors, I feel alienated, like a single piece of black pepper in a sea of salt.” (Thirteen.org)

Hearing sad songs from the people, the nightingale sang its song to cheer them up. The people responded with happy songs, and since then, nightingales have visited Ukraine every spring to hear Ukrainian songs. National poet Taras Shevchenko observed that "even the memory of the nightingale's song makes man happy."

Sinéad O'Connor was born in the Cascia House Nursing Home at 13 Pembroke Road, Dublin, on 8 December 1966 and passed away 26 July 2023 (8 Av 5783).
She was the third of five children. O'Connor's mother Marie died in a car accident on 10 February 1985 aged 45 as she lost control of her car on an icy road and crashed into a bus, when O'Connor was 18. In June 1993, O'Connor wrote a public letter in The Irish Times which asked people to "stop hurting" her: "If only I can fight off the voices of my parents / and gather a sense of self-esteem / Then I'll be able to REALLY sing …" The letter repeated accusations of abuse by her parents as a child which O'Connor had made in interviews. Her brother Joseph defended their father to the newspaper but agreed regarding their mother's "extreme and violent abuse, both emotional and physical". O'Connor said that month, "Our family is very messed up. We can't communicate with each other. We are all in agony. I for one am in agony."
Marriages and children O'Connor had four children and was married and divorced four times. She had her first son, Jake, in 1987 with her first husband, music producer John Reynolds, who co-produced several of her albums, including Universal Mother. Reynolds and O'Connor later married in Westminster register office in March 1989.
In 1989 O'Connor joined The The frontman Matt Johnson as a guest vocalist on the band's album Mind Bomb, which spawned the duet "Kingdom of Rain".
Saturday Night Live performance O'Connor protesting the cover-up of Catholic Church sexual abuse cases as she tore a picture of Pope John Paul II into many pieces on live television in 1992.
On 3 October 1992, O'Connor appeared on U.S. late-night television program Saturday Night Live as a musical guest. She was originally scheduled to sing "Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home" and "Scarlet Ribbons", two of the songs from the album she was promoting at the time, Am I Not Your Girl?. However, the day before her live appearance, she asked and got permission from the show's production crew to replace the latter performance with a rendition of Bob Marley's 1976 song "War", which she intended to revise as a protest against sexual abuse of children in the Catholic Church and its continued cover-up, thus referring to child abuse rather than racism.
The night of the performance, she sang an acappella version of "War", wearing a necklace with the Rastafari star and a scarf with the Rastafari and Ethiopian colors,[95] and staring down the camera for the entirety of her gig; she then presented a photo of Pope John Paul II to the screen while singing the word "evil", after which she tore the photo into pieces, said "Fight the real enemy", and threw the pieces towards the camera. The incident occurred nine years before John Paul II acknowledged the sexual abuse within the Church.
Legacy The Saturday Night Live incident is widely considered to have done permanent damage to O'Connor's career and reputation, although she never regretted her decision.[93][98][116] In a 2002 interview with Salon, when asked if she would change anything about the SNL appearance, O'Connor replied, "Hell, no!"[96] In her 2021 book Rememberings, O'Connor said of the incident: "Everyone wants a pop star, see? But I am a protest singer. I just had stuff to get off my chest. I had no desire for fame." In the same memoir, she also wrote that she felt like the incident actually put her "back on the right track", following a personal crisis stemming from the success of "Nothing Compares 2 U".
Moreover, she revealed that she had taken down the picture of Pope John Paul II from her mom's bedroom wall on the day of her death, and waited until the right moment to destroy it as an act of personal revenge to the physical abuse she suffered as a child, writing, "Child abuse is an identity crisis and fame is an identity crisis, so I went straight from one identity crisis into another".
In a July 2007 interview with Christianity Today, O'Connor stated that she considered herself a Christian and that she believed in core Christian concepts about the Trinity and Jesus Christ. She said, "I think God saves everybody whether they want to be saved or not. So when we die, we're all going home… I don't think God judges anybody. He loves everybody equally." In an October 2002 interview, she credited her Christian faith in giving her the strength to live through and overcome the effects of her childhood abuse.
On 26 March 2010, O'Connor appeared on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360° to speak out about the Catholic sexual abuse scandal in Ireland. On 28 March 2010, she had an opinion piece published in the Sunday edition of The Washington Post in which she wrote about the scandal and her time in a Magdalene laundry as a teenager.[29] Writing for the Sunday Independent she labeled the Vatican as "a nest of devils" and called for the establishment of an "alternative church", opining that "Christ is being murdered by liars" in the Vatican. Shortly after the election of Pope Francis, she described the office of the Pope as an "anti-Christian office".
O'Connor stated: Well, you know, I guess I wish everyone the best, and I don't know anything about the man, so I'm not going to rush to judge him on one thing or another, but I would say he has a scientifically impossible task, because all religions, but certainly the Catholic Church, is really a house built on sand, and it's drowning in a sea of conditional love, and therefore it can't survive, and actually the office of Pope itself is an anti-Christian office, the idea that Christ needs a representative is laughable and blasphemous at the same time, therefore it is a house built on sand, and we need to rescue God from religion, all religions, they've become a smokescreen that distracts people from the fact that there is a holy spirit, and when you study the Gospels you see the Christ character came to tell us that we only need to talk directly to God, we never needed Religion… Asked whether from her point of view, it is therefore irrelevant who is elected to be pope, O'Connor replied, "Genuinely I don't mean disrespect to Catholic people because I believe in Jesus Christ, I believe in the Holy Spirit, all of those, but I also believe in all of them, I don't think it cares if you call it Fred or Daisy, you know? Religion is a smokescreen, it has everybody talking to the wall. There is a Holy Spirit who can't intervene on our behalf unless we ask it. Religion has us talking to the wall. The Christ character tells us himself: you must only talk directly to the Father; you don't need intermediaries. We all thought we did, and that's ok, we're not bad people, but let's wake up… God was there before religion; it's there [today] despite religion; it'll be there when religion is gone."
In August 2018, via an open letter, she asked Pope Francis to excommunicate her, as she had asked of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II.
In October 2018, O'Connor converted to Islam, calling it "the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian's journey". The ceremony was conducted in Ireland by Sunni Islamic theologian Shaykh Umar Al-Qadri. She also changed her name to Shuhada' Davitt. In a message on Twitter, she thanked fellow Muslims for their support and uploaded a video of herself reciting the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer. She also posted photos of herself wearing a hijab.

July 26, 2023: 8th of Av: The fast of Tishah B'Av begins this evening at sunset. Some of the fast's mourning practices--such as refraining from Torah study other than texts related to the events and nature of the fast day--are observed beginning from midday today. The final meal before the start of the fast, eaten shortly before sunset, is called seudah hamafseket. Only one cooked food is eaten at this meal, customarily an egg dipped in ashes. "Eichah"--the Book of Lamentations--is read tonight in the synagogue after evening prayers.
July 26, 2023: 8th of Av: "Nine Days' During the “Nine Days" from Av 1st to the Ninth of Av, we mourn the destruction of the Holy Temple. We abstain from meat and wine, music, haircutting, bathing for pleasure, and other joyous (and dangerous) activities. (The particular mourning customs vary from community to community, so consult a competent halachic authority for details.) Consumption of meat and wine is permitted on Shabbat, or at a seudat mitzvah (obligatory festive meal celebrating the fulfillment of certain mitzvot) such as a brit (circumcision), or a siyum celebrating the completion of a course of Torah study (i.e., a complete Talmudic tractate). The Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory initiated the custom of conducting or participating in a siyum on each of the Nine Days (even if one does not avail oneself of the dispensation to eat meat). Citing the verse "Zion shall be redeemed with mishpat [Torah] and its returnees with tzedakah," (Isaiah 1:27) the Rebbe urged that we increase in Torah study (particularly the study of the laws of the Holy Temple) and charity during this period.
July 26, 2023: 8th of Av: Daily Thought Already Heard “I was in the midst of the exile, on the river of Kevar.” (Ezekiel 1:1) (Kevar is the Hebrew word for “already.”) At the onset of the exile, Ezekiel sat on the bank of a river called “I heard that already.” It is a river so cold, it can make icicles from fiery sparks of wisdom. It is a river of exile. Because it is a lie. Wisdom never says, “I heard that already.” When you truly hear, when you absorb wisdom deep within your soul until it means everything to you, it is new to you each time you hear it, again and again. Touch: "Pilot" (alternatively "Tales of the Red Thread") is the first episode of Touch. It originally aired in a special preview event held January 25, 2012, on FOX.
"Today we'll send over 300 billion e-mails 19 billion text messages. Yet we'll still feel alone. The average person will say 2,250 words to 7.4 other individuals. Will these words be used to hurt or to heal? The ratio is always the same. 1 to 1.618, over and over and over again. The patterns are hidden in plain sight. You just have to know where to look. Things most people see as chaos actually follow subtle laws of behavior. Galaxies, plants, seashells. The patterns never lie. But only some of us can see how the pieces fit together. 7,080,360,000 of us live on this tiny planet. This is the story of some of those people. There's an ancient Chinese myth about the Red Thread of Fate. It says the gods have tied a red thread around every one of our ankles and attached it to all the people whose lives we're destined to touch. This thread may stretch, or tangle, but it'll never break. It's all predetermined by mathematical probability, and it's my job to keep track of those numbers, to make the connections for those who need to find each other, the ones whose lives need to touch. I was born 4,161 days ago, on October 26, 2000. I've been alive for 11 years, 4 months, 21 days and 14 hours. And in all that time I've never said a single word." - Jake Bohm
A Web search leads Jake's father, Martin, to the Teller Institute, a rundown home at 318 West Tesla Street. Arthur Teller explains that, on his own, Jake discovered the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical ratio concerning patterns repeated in nature: a wave's curve, a shell's spiral, segments of a pineapple. Jake sees vast connections that amount to road maps, and it's Martin's job, his destiny, to follow them for Jake.
"Imagine the unspeakable beauty of the universe he sees! No wonder he doesn't talk." - Arthur Teller on Jacob Bohm
In the 2012 television series Touch, season 1, episode 9, "Music of the Spheres", Jacob "Jake" Bohm, a mute boy who mysteriously feels the suffering of those along his path and aims to positively adjust their fates, is revealed as possibly one of the "Lamed Vav Tzadikim" by a Hasidic man. In the second season of Touch, Jake and other people who have special gifts are referred to as members of the 36; throughout the episodes they are exploited for their capabilities and are hunted down by one who believes they hold too much power. The final episode features consideration of the Kabbalah and the mystical roots of the legend of the 36.
Lamedvavnik (Yiddish: למד־װאָװניק), is the Yiddish term for one of the 36 humble righteous ones or Tzadikim mentioned in kabbalah or Jewish mysticism. According to this teaching, at any given time there are at least 36 holy persons in the world who are Tzadikim. These holy people are hidden; i.e., nobody knows who they are. According to some versions of the story, they themselves may not know who they are. For the sake of these 36 hidden saints, God preserves the world even if the rest of humanity has degenerated to the level of total barbarism. This is similar to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Hebrew Bible, where God told Abraham that he would spare the city of Sodom if there was a quorum of at least 10 righteous men. Since nobody knows who the Lamedvavniks are, not even themselves, every Jew should act as if he or she might be one of them; i.e., lead a holy and humble life and pray for the sake of fellow human beings. It is also said that one of these 36 could potentially be the Jewish Messiah if the world is ready for them to reveal themselves. Otherwise, they live and die as an ordinary person. Whether the person knows they are the potential Messiah is debated. (Wikipedia)

April 22, 1945 (Sunday) Hitler held a conference on the afternoon of April 22, 1945 in the Führerbunker to discuss the military situation. Upon being informed that the Steiner attack had not happened, and that the Soviets were now entering the northern suburbs of Berlin, he flew into a rage. He denounced the Army, complained that his generals and anyone who had deserted him were cowards and had failed him, then he finally conceded that the war was indeed lost. Over the protests of all those present, Hitler stated that he would stay in Berlin to the absolute end and then shoot himself, rather than try to escape to the south. Heinrich Himmler secretly met with Count Folke Bernadotte of Sweden and asked him to act as an intermediary to offer the surrender of all German forces in the west. The message took 48 hours to reach the Allies and they did not take it seriously. (Wikipedia)

"There is no god! That's why I stepped in!" - High Evolutionary
The High Evolutionary presented himself at first look as a harbinger of the perfect society and species, seemingly appeared to be a noble and knowledgeable being who wants to create a perfect world with the perfect species. However, this was only a façade to hide the true person underneath, a selfish, cruel, and heartless egomaniac, who wants to control everything under his name and a psychopathic man who in essence wanted to be seen and treated as a god. In 2013, 456,000 women younger than 20 became pregnant. Some 448,000 of those pregnancies were among 15–19-year-olds, and 7,400 were among those aged 14 and younger. https://www.guttmacher.org/report/us-adolescent-pregnancy-trends-2013.
An important question for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election is: "Did those age 10 to 14 pregnancy numbers increase, or decrease, during Donald John Trump's presidency?" Here's the answer:

Trump Preached White Supremacy in Minnesota, America Barely Noticed. Touting "the racehorse theory" and the superiority of the genes of white Minnesotans, Trump explicitly embraced eugenics September 22, 2020 Trump then addressed the racial unrest in Minneapolis that followed the homicide of George Floyd at the hands of police. Trump recounted his push to have the National Guard sent in, insisting, “You wouldn’t have Minneapolis,” if he hadn’t. He then recounted, with a sadist’s delight, how an NBC correspondent of color, Ali Veshi, got injured with a non-lethal round and was shunted aside as a phalanx of law enforcement marched through the city. “Wasn’t it a beautiful sight?” Trump asked. “It’s called law and order!” With this racist warmup complete, Trump then veered into an open endorsement of eugenics — the discredited theory that the human race can be improved with selective breeding for superior traits. The theory has an ugly history in America. And Hitler’s embrace of eugenics in Nazi Germany gave rise to the program of “race hygiene” that culminated in the extermination of millions of Jewish people and others at death camps. “You have good genes, you know that right?” Trump said to the nearly all-white crowd. “A lot of it is about the genes, isn’t it? Don’t you believe? The racehorse theory,” Trump said. “You think we’re so different? You have good genes in Minnesota.” https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-white-supremacy-racehorse-theory-1064928/

Palm Beach, Florida: Mar-a-Lago:
In protest against Trump's remarks on the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, six nonprofit organizations canceled scheduled gala events at the club. The charities canceling included the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. The club has been frequently cited for health code violations. In January 2017, Florida inspectors noted 15 infractions that included unsafe seafood, insufficiently refrigerated meats, rusty shelving, and cooks without hairnets. Since 2013, it has faced 51 health code violations. In September 2019, Mar-a-Lago became the primary residence for Donald and Melania Trump, who previously held primary residence in New York City. The legality of this has been disputed because, in 1993, Trump signed a "use agreement" with the town of Palm Beach, Florida, that changed Mar-a-Lago's designation from a single-family residence to a private club and specified that guests, including Trump, could not stay there more than three non-consecutive weeks per year. In December 2020, neighbors of Mar-a-Lago delivered a demand letter to the town of Palm Beach, stating that the town should notify Trump that he cannot use the estate as his residence. Trump argues that he can live at Mar-a-Lago permanently as a bona fide employee.
In a 2022 lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, it was alleged that Trump inflated the value of Mar-a-Lago to $739 million, when the property should actually be valued at $75 million.
Upon departing the White House in January 2021, Trump transported a large volume of presidential records to Mar-a-Lago, despite storage of such materials being subject to the Presidential Records Act. Seeking to preserve presidential communications and correspondence with world leaders, the National Archives and Records Administration arranged to retrieve 15 boxes of material from Mar-a-Lago in January 2022. These included documents clearly marked as classified, prompting the Department of Justice to restrict any details regarding the contents of the 15 boxes. On May 11, 2022, the Justice Department sent Trump a grand jury subpoena, requesting any additional documents marked classified. A later subpoena requested surveillance footage from the club. On August 8, 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of former U.S. president Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida. The search warrant application was authorized by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and approved by Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, following a criminal referral by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The order, unsealed a few days after the search, showed that the FBI obtained the search warrant as part of an investigation into Trump relating to three federal criminal statutes: violations of the Espionage Act regarding unauthorized retention of national defense information; destroying or concealing records "with the intent to impede obstruct or influence" federal government activity; illegal removal or destruction of federal government records (without respect to cause). Over 13,000 government documents were recovered. They included nuclear-related information and FBI, CIA, and NSA information about national security interests. Of these documents, 337 were classified: 197 handed over in January 2022, 38 turned over under subpoena in June 2022, and 102 seized in the August search of Mar-a-Lago. Months later, at least two more documents with classified markings were uncovered at Trump locations. On June 8, 2023, Trump was indicted on federal charges related to the documents. On June 13, 2023, Trump surrendered to federal custody and was arrested, booked, processed, and arraigned in the U.S. District Court of South Florida. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 37 charges. On July 27, 2023, a new version of the indictment (superseding the old) added three counts against Donald John Trump. (Wikipedia)

Sky News Dramatic hailstorm pummels Italy - days after searing heatwave Sat, 22 July 2023 at 4:08 am GMT-7·1-min read An icy torrent swarmed trough the streets of a town near Milan after a dramatic hailstorm with tennis-ball sized hail in northern Italy. Small ice sheets appeared to form on the surface of fast-moving water deluging part of Seregno. In footage circulating on social media, taken from an upper floor, the person behind the camera says: "It looks like a river flowing." The street in the video is deserted other than for a man attempting to sweep floodwater out of the ground floor of a building. "I see the shoes-shop owner in front on me and water is coming inside the shop," someone out of shot in the videos says. It followed a severe hailstorm that battered Italy's northern Lombardy region, home to Milan, and the northeastern Veneto region. The region was already reeling from a severe heatwave that had gripped almost the whole of Italy, bringing temperatures of 44C (111F) in the southern island of Sicily. Scientists agree heatwaves in all parts of the world are getting stronger and more likely due to climate change. https://uk.style.yahoo.com/icy-water-courses-italian-streets-110800074.html

Neo was directed to the same hotel room to escape from the Matrix and pursuing Agents. However, Agent Smith ambushed Neo and shot him before he could reach the phone there. After defeating Smith, Neo escaped the Matrix using the phone in Room 303 before the Nebuchadnezzar disabled the Sentinels, and itself, by using EMP.
Sixty years later, Neo's Modal contains a simulated reenactment of Trinity's escape from the Agents in this room which is witnessed by Bugs.
The number "303" appears to be an allusion to the character Trinity, whose name in Christian theology defines the three-in-one nature of the single Christian God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This allusion is supported by Trinity kissing the lifeless Neo, whose life functions return as Neo transfigures into the One after exiting the room. (Fandom.com)

Distances in Enola Holmes: Basilwether Hall and Station:  Part 2 - Topography Comparison
[[Previous]] ☼ [[Menu]] ☼ [[Next]]
This is part of a series of posts on identifying hypothetical real-world locations for unidentified places in Enola Holmes (2020). Since the discussion if posted as a whole, might quickly exceed Tumblr's ten-image limit, I added this separately.
2.2 TOPOGRAPHY COMPARISON
Tumblr media
Fig Uplands and rivers within our area of interest
2.2.1 Hills
Hills are a recurring feature in the first half of the movie. The hills we see are always in groups, often with more visible behind them, so inselbergs are unlikely.
2.2.1.1 Basilwether Station
Tumblr media
Fig . Basilwether Station exterior, looking away.
Basilwether station appears to be surrounded by hills, at the very least on the right. However, it might also be surrounded, if that line under the clock (below) is hillside and not trees.
Tumblr media
Fig . Basilwether Station interior, looking out. Possible hills in center.
In either case, a quick investigation of the film location demonstrates that the hills had to have been deliberately added in. There are buildings all around, and the view would be obscured by modern development. Why they chose this particular background is not known, but it could be that the artists wanted to make the image consistent with the rest of the route.
2.2.1.2 Bridge #1
Tumblr media
The first bridge the railway crosses and the farm near it appear fairly untouched by the CGI artists.
2.2.1.3 The Railway Sequences
And, perhaps most strikingly, the areas we witness during the train sequences following the bridge next to the farm are decidedly hilly— and CGI. The CGI considerably decreases the deciding power of the natural topography of the filming site.
2.2.1.4 Estimating extents
At 54m00s, Enola recounts rescuing a sheep from a cliff's edge as a girl, and then her mother patching her up at Ferndell. It is possible that Ferndell is near cliffs. If so, then by calculating possible distances from Ferndell, one might also be able to work out the distance to even more cliffs or rugged terrain. So, I attempted to find a rough estimate for the distance between Basilwether Station and Ferndell, and found the distance to be at most twenty miles. However, while we know Basilwether station is in a hilly area, and that Ferndell is situated in a hilly area, they don't need to be in the same hilly area. Since that describes just about every major set of hills in our area of interest, we'll move on for the moment.
Looking out for:
Hills around station
20 miles or less from more hills
What we can say with some certainty is that the railroad route was consistently hilly. As such, we can estimate that the hilly landscape must be at least four miles across in one direction, given the amount of screentime is shown and our estimated travel speed.
Looking out for:
Hills around station
20 miles or less from more hills
Hills near Basilwether should extend in one direction no less than four miles
2.2.1.5 Conclusions
Given the visuals, even if the area around Basilwether Hall is flat, it needs to be within fairly close proximity to a hilly region where the station and the following train sequences can take place. This is a breakthrough, because at the very least it can rule out Huntingdonshire, which had the third lowest highest point of the 1964 Ceremonial counties. I also took the opportunity to eliminate 1964 Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, the Soke of Peterborough, the Isle of Ely, and Parts of Holland. (As a mental shorthand, this is a contiguous area largely northeast of London.) The City of London, of course, was not even a consideration.
Within my maximum estimates (see above or here), this leaves us with the Chiltern Hills, the South Downs, the Kent Downs, the Surrey Hills, and the North Wessex Downs. Slightly further afield, we also have Cranbourne Chase and the Cotswolds.
Looking out for:
Hills around station

Montana provides a particularly poignant example of what happens when enough people decide that shrugging off or outright opposing preventive measures is preferable to saving lives. [...]
In the early days of the pandemic, a white-coated physician from Kalispell, Mont., stood at a podium and issued a dire warning about Covid-19’s death rate. Except Dr. Annie Bukacek called it the “so-called death rate.” “Based on inaccurate, incomplete data, people are being terrorized by fearmongers into relinquishing cherished freedoms,” said Bukacek, a pink stethoscope dangling below her double-strand pearl choker, in a YouTube video viewed 870,000 times. [...] Flathead County includes Kalispell, where Bukacek -- who goes by “Dr. Annie” and who termed the city’s April emergency declaration “martial law” -- practices. She is part of an opposition faction that has paralyzed the county health board, shooting down proposed measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. [...] The board, hobbled by a 4-4 split, has twice tried and failed to limit gatherings to 500 people, even with a holiday craft show scheduled. [...]
-------
In early December, this time at the copper-domed Montana State Capitol in Helena, a legislative committee met to determine rules for the session that starts in January. In the ornate chamber [...], Republican lawmakers -- most unmasked -- hugged, shook hands, slapped backs.
When a mask-wearing Democratic representative, Sharon Stewart Peregoy, spoke emotionally about Covid-19’s toll on her Crow Indian Reservation district, her GOP colleague Barry Usher -- unmasked -- delivered a verbal smackdown. “It’s ridiculous,” he said. “It’s a waste of my afternoon. I could be trying to make my business survive through this. Instead, I gotta be up here listening to you guys cry.” [...]
-------
In Gallatin County -- home to Bozeman, the fast-growing college town derisively nicknamed “Boze-angeles” for the influx of moneyed outsiders -- health officer Kelley has held his ground despite near-daily protests outside his home. “From where they’re standing in front of my house, they can see the hospital where we have 20 people [with Covid-19], some in intensive care,” he said.
-------
In August, Powell County’s health officer left after a group of residents -- upset over the cancellation of a fair and rodeo -- confronted her at the hospital where she worked, waving copies of the Constitution and blocking patients from entering.
Then the entire health department in Pondera County resigned in November, citing inadequate pay for the long pandemic hours, a lack of support from the county commission for efforts to prevent the virus’s spread, and “negative talk” in the north-central Montana community.
And on the day after Thanksgiving, Robinson handed in her resignation as Flathead County’s interim health officer, citing a “toxic environment” that prompted the departure of several department staffers. [...] In Flathead County, when the state tried to take action against five businesses it accused of repeatedly violating the governor’s mask directive, a judge threw out the case. Now those businesses are suing the state. [...]
When Idaho’s Republican governor, Brad Little, imposed new restrictions in October, the state’s lieutenant governor, Janice McGeachin, pushed back, brandishing a Bible and a handgun in an ad sponsored by a group called the Idaho Freedom Foundation. [...]
Montana once boasted one of the lowest case rates in the nation. [...] Then, in a merciless about-face that holds up a mirror to the national crisis, Montana soared for several weeks recently into the ranks of the top 10 for per capita cases.

Growing Pains - Susan & Kerry ER fanfiction (1/1)
Tumblr media
When Susan needs a little help, Kerry is the unlikely one who steps up. However, the two women struggle to get past their fractious relationship.
(read below the cut or on AO3)
Patients filled the hospital corridors from top to bottom. A group of intoxicated wedding goers from the previous night and the sweltering temperatures had blessed County with a dose of chaos. No one seemed to be moving anywhere apart from into each other, including Kerry who had returned from examining a patient to find it somehow worse than fifteen minutes previously.
“Sir, take a seat. Someone will see you when it’s your turn,” she said, strategically maneuvering her crutch between herself and a man in a fancy suit drunkenly stumbling around. The last thing she wanted was his bloody nose spilling all over her clothes.
Her white coat was an object of desire to the frustrated and uncomfortable patients as she attempted to move through the hoards of people. Her petite frame made it impossible to see the admit desk, her target destination, over what seemed like hundreds of heads. However, the sound of an infant crying from that direction managed to pierce through all the noise. Using the cries as a guide and her crutch to give some individuals a ‘gentle nudge’, Kerry finally managed to break through to the admit desk.
She was greeted by an upset-looking little Susie in the hands of a wired-looking Randi. The baby girl was all but being thrown around reception in the clerk’s arms as she answered phones and Susie evidently was no longer enjoying the ride.
“Where are all our doctors?” Kerry said with a brash tone. She immediately switched her demeanor as she leaned in closer to little Susie and stroked her damp cheek, which momentarily distracted Susie from her wailing. “There is no room to swing a cat out there.”
Randi stopped searching through the pile of charts in front of her and looked at Kerry. “That would be animal abuse,” she deadpanned.
“It’s a figure of speech.”
Randi tried to contain her smirk. “Mark is in CT with a patient and I don’t know where Doug is.”
“It’s unprofessional for an ER to be in such a state, never mind dangerous.” Kerry increased the volume of her voice as Susie began to cry again. “What about Susan? I’ve barely seen her all morning.”
“She had to take a phone call,” Randi said, preoccupied trying to soothe Susie by dangling around a small blanket in her face, the only thing she had been able to pull out of the diaper bag quickly. “Something about some lawyer I think.”
“No, I just saw her going to take a nap in exam four,” Connie interrupted as she walked over to the admit desk. “What are you doing to the poor girl?” Her brows raised as she watched Randi’s method of comforting the baby.
“You’re kidding! I can’t look after her all day!” Randi threw the blanket onto the desk in frustration. “She said she would be back in ten minutes.”
Kerry sighed. As much as it displeased her to see a doctor's personal life interfering with their work (and the running of the department), she couldn't help but have some sympathy for Susan. It hadn’t exactly been her choice to wind up looking after her sister's child. The majority of Kerry’s frustration with Susan came from the fact that Kerry hated seeing a doctor with such talent and potential distracted by things out of her control.
But it wasn’t just a distraction. It was a baby. Little Susie was her family.
Family. Something Kerry did have much left of anymore.
Deciding not to go and wake Susan up, Kerry glanced up at the clock. It was nearing twelve and the morning hadn’t made much of a dent in the crowd that was in chairs. However, she was due a break and none of the cases appeared particularly emergent. Mark and Doug could take care of it when they decided to return to the trenches she thought.
“I’ll take her for a bit,” Kerry offered, reaching out her arm towards Susie.
Randi and Connie simultaneously looked up at Kerry, disbelief written on their faces.
Kerry rolled her eyes back. “What? I don’t bite, no matter what rumors you have heard.”
The phone began to ring and Randi gratefully passed Susie to Kerry, ignoring the fact that Susan probably wasn’t going to like this. “Just take her, please. I'm pretty sure she needs to be changed.”
Kerry expertly maneuvered the infant up against her chest with one arm, so the girl's rosy cheeks gently rested on her shoulder. “I think Randi is right, isn't she little Susie?” Kerry felt the heavy diaper as she rested Susie on her arm.
“You look like you have done that before.” Connie pried not so subtly, watching as the young girl almost immediately calmed against Kerry’s touch, Susie’s wet eyes wide as she gauged this new person holding her.
The personal life of Kerry Weaver was, of course, under the scrutiny of the gossip mill. And while none exactly saw her as the maternal type, Connie wanted to see her reaction.
But she got none.
“Is this her diaper bag?” Kerry indicated to the bag on the desk.
“Yep, all her stuff is in there.”
Kerry scooped up the various baby paraphernalia into the bag and hung it over the handle of her crutch for the short journey. “Connie, I’ll be in one of the exam rooms if anyone needs me,” she called back as she walked away.
Avoiding the crowds, Kerry carried Susie into a nearby exam room. She switched on the overhead lights but Susie brought her little fists up to her face in discomfort. Apologizing to her, Kerry quickly turned them off again and instead turned on a less intense lamp that provided enough light for her to do the job.
“It’s okay, here we are. Nice and quiet here,” she rocked the girl on her hip. “Away from all those yucky sick people.”
Kerry walked over to the bed, collecting a sterile sheet before placing Susie down on her back. Susie was sporting a cute one-piece ensemble, with a matching sun hat and socks. The diaper was very full and wet and Kerry checked for any leakages before sliding the girl’s clothes off. Satisfied that there were none, Kerry opened the bag that was sitting beside Susie with her free hand and collected the required items to change her.
“I can see why Susan is so attached to you,” Kerry patted Susie's little stomach as the baby happily squirmed on her back, enjoying her new clean diaper. “You’re a gorgeous girl aren’t you? You must have your aunt’s genes hey,” she said and Susie babbled back in agreement, a cheeky smile falling on her face. Kerry leaned down closer and shook her head excitedly. “Yes, you are.”
It took a while for Susan to regain full control of her limbs as she clawed herself out of the sleep-deprived coma that she had entered in exam four. Her call with her now ex-lawyer had left her wishing she could just disappear from existence for a bit.
__
Not quite ready to lift herself up, Susan stretched out with a yawn as she studied the ceiling. Little Susie had been up every couple of hours the last few nights, the young girl perhaps feeling the unrest that was in her aunt's life at the moment. Between that, work, and the amount of stress she was under, Susan couldn't remember the last time she had a moment to herself.
Though this moment to her herself had not left her feeling particularly rested or rejuvenated. Instead, she awoke from her ‘short nap’ uncomfortable. Everything was hot and cloudy and she felt like she had awfully overslept.
Which was odd, considering Susan could swear she had only been in here for 10 minutes. 20 Max.
Reaching over to the side table she picked up her watch and squinted.
“Crap,” she muttered. It had been at least an hour.
The realization that she had left Susie with Randi along with a certain chief resident's voice in the back of her head berating her for missing work, sprung Susan into action and she quickly collected her stethoscope and pager before running out of the exam room.
“Randi, I’m so sorry!” she called out, fixing her hair and clipping on her pager to her lab coat as she made her way towards the admin desk. “I just thought I’d close my eyes for a few minutes and then -” her apology ended abruptly as she looked up and noticed something was wrong. “Where’s Susie?” her voice went cold.
Randi frowned in confusion as she tried to decipher Susan’s questions while simultaneously trying to control the rowdy crowd that had somehow spilled into the admit area. “Oh the baby, Dr. Weaver took her,” she replied.
“Took her?” Susan tried to quell any panic and come to a logical conclusion. “Like to the daycare?”
She struggled to fathom any reason as to why Kerry had taken Susie. But perhaps Kerry had grown tired of Susie’s cries and shipped her upstairs to prevent any further distraction in the department.
But why had no one come to wake her first?
“I’m not sure...” Preoccupied, Randi brushed her off and resumed yelling at the man that was opposite the desk. “Sir, you need to sit down. Otherwise, I’ll turf you out of here myself!”
“Lady, you can’t talk to me like that!”
“I’ll talk how I like,” Randi spat out and smiled as she watched the man retreat back. “I think she is still down here though. She said something about an exam room,” Randi focused her attention back on Susan and answered calmly.
But Susan was gone before Randi had even finished her sentence.
“Move please!” Susan pushed herself through the crowded ER corridors, not bothering with any pleasantries.
It had been over an hour since she had left Susie to go and make her phone call. Over an hour that little Susie had been left alone with a stranger. Left alone with Kerry Weaver of all people. Randi would have been better passing her off to the LOL in curtain three, Susan thought.
With every empty exam room she found, Susan’s heart rate climbed. And with every extra beat, Susan’s mind became less sound.
What if they had left the hospital? Susie could be anywhere.
“Mark! Thank god,” Susan burst into the suture room.
“I’m a little busy right now,” he replied, getting ready to begin a suture on a passed-out patient, presumably another victim of last night's wedding party.
“No, it’s Weaver you have to -” she continued breathlessly.
Mark let out an exasperated sigh and swung around on his stool. “Susan, I thought we had been through this. You two need to learn how -”
“Weaver has abducted little Susie!”
Bewildered, Mark and Malik stared at Susan.
“Umm...Malik, wash this wound out again, will you? I’ll be back shortly,” he took off his gloves and stood up, leaving a curious-looking Malik behind him.
“What on earth are you talking about?” he ushered Susan into the corridor.
Susan raised her hands to her forehead. “I went to take a break...Susie...she was with Randi and then she wasn’t...I -” she rambled, running her shaking fingers through her hair.
“Slow down. What does Kerry have to do with any of this?”
“Randi said that Kerry took her and I can’t find them anywhere.”
Mark frowned. “I’m sure there is an explanation,” he comforted, as the pair walked to somewhere more private where they could talk.
“Mark, I don’t care if there is an explanation,” she said, as they entered the doctor’s lounge. “I don’t want her near little Susie!”
Susan’s words ricocheted through the doctor’s lounge, clearly making themselves heard to the occupants. Kerry and Connie were both seated on the couch along with Susie who was happily perched upon Kerry’s lap. The young girl smiled as she stole both of the women’s complete attention. That was until Mark and Susan had arrived. An awkward air swept through the room as they all stared at each other.
“Good Susan, you’re here.” Kerry was the first to break the silence and she stood up, ready to pass the baby over to Susan. “I think she is getting a little hungry, but I wasn’t sure what formula she takes.”
Kerry quickly gave the baby to Susan, which was slightly hindered by the fact that Susie had a firm fist wrapped around one of Kerry’s fingers. Kerry managed to pry her tiny fingers from her own and Susie was then in her aunt's arms, which immediately allowed Susan to breathe again.
“There is already some made up in the fridge,” Susan said offhandedly, the events of the last fifteen or so minutes washing over her as she stroked her niece's cheek. Susie was fine. “The formula.”
Kerry shuffled on her feet for a few seconds before committing and turning around to go and collect the bottle. Susan sighed as she took a seat at the table. She hadn’t meant for Kerry to go and get the formula. Truly she wished they all would leave. Kerry especially. Only so she didn’t have to look at her in the face after what she had just said.
Mark laid a hand on her shoulder. “If everything is alright here, I have to get back,”
“I should be getting back to work as well,” Connie lifted herself up from the couch. “Bye-bye, little Susie,”
Further tension spilled into the lounge as the two buffers departed. Susan glanced over to Kerry who had located the bottle and was warming it up. Kerry’s movements were deliberate and slow as if she was trying to extend the time she could have her back to the other woman in the room.
Susan swallowed. “Kerry I-”
“Randi was getting swept under, so I offered to take her for a bit.” the redhead interjected. Her voice was shrill, though not in its usual acerbic manner. More as if the voice was hitched in the chest and its owner was desperately trying to mask it.
Susan nodded, watching as Kerry collected the bottle from the microwave and tested the temperature of the milk on the inside of her wrist.
“I should have said something. Left a note.” Kerry continued as she turned back around. “Here,” she smiled, placing the bottle on the table.
Susie’s eyes immediately lit up and she reached out for her meal. She couldn’t quite hold her own bottle up yet, but that wasn’t going to deter her from trying.
“Thanks,” Susan replied and picked up the bottle. Susie grumbled as her milk was delayed when Susan splashed some of the milk onto her own wrist.
“Oh, I already did that,” Kerry pointed out, the intonation falling at the end of her sentence as she realized Susan wanted to check for herself. “Nevermind.”
Kerry uncuffed her crutch from her arm and gently rested it against the table before sitting down. Both women smiled as Susie latched on to her bottle and drank feverishly. Susie was something for them to focus on rather than themselves. And it was working. The mood lifted.
“She is a good little drinker,” Kerry commented.
“Kerry...I’m sorry,” Susan said.
Kerry stretched her neck from side to side as Susan waited for a response. Apologizing to Kerry Weaver was not something Susan had ever planned to do. Yet, here she was. Apologizing. Giving Kerry the upper hand.
However, the chief resident was as good at accepting apologies as she was offering them and she ignored the crumb of a peace offering that had been placed in front of her.
Susan pressed her lips together and looked down at little Susie, who was contently enjoying her milk, to quench the anger she could feel rising inside.
Kerry couldn’t even acknowledge it. Which made apologizing in the first place feel even worse.
Despite her apparent inability to make things easier for herself and Susan, Kerry didn’t show any signs of leaving and leaned forward. “I think you are doing a very admirable thing. Looking after your niece,” she said softly, but Susan couldn’t help but hear it in a condescending tone.
“It probably won’t be for much longer,” she replied bitterly.
Susie chose this moment to start making some ominous gurgling sounds and Susan reached towards the bag to find a blanket. The last thing she needed today was another shirt decorated with baby spit-up. Her laundry pile was growing and little Susie was ‘customizing’ them faster than she could wash them.
Kerry quickly went to help her, unzipping the bag further and making it easier for Susan to pull the blanket out with her free hand. “Randi said you were speaking to a lawyer?”
“Chloe wants to play mom again and apparently me being the only constant fixture in this girl's life for the last few months means nothing,” Susan lifted the girl up onto her blanket-covered shoulder and gently burped the baby. “I have a meeting with another one tonight. But I can’t bring Susie along.”
“Can’t your parents help?”
“They don’t want to get involved,” Susan replied, eyes downcast. “And maybe, I shouldn’t either. Just let Chloe get what she wants. She is her real mother after all.”
“That doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Biology doesn’t dictate love, Susan. Not like that.”
Susan shook her head. “I’m no better than Chloe. My first response was to get rid of her. Adopt her out. You don’t do that if you love someone. You don’t do that to your child.” her words were less of a statement and more of a sad pleading question. She knew the answers. That nothing was as black and white as that. That people give away children they love all the time. She knew she was holding herself to a higher standard than she would anyone else.
But she just wanted someone to tell her what to do. Tell her what was the right thing.
And deep down. Tell her she could be a mother.
A good mother.
She wanted it so badly that she’d even take it from Kerry Weaver.
Or maybe Kerry Weaver’s opinion meant more to her than she was willing to accept.
Kerry remained silent for a few moments, fiddling with a ring on her finger. Susan furrowed her brows, she could see the light reflecting in Kerry’s damp eyes. Her words had evidently had some sort of emotional effect on Kerry.
Since when was Kerry Weaver so invested in my personal life?
Kerry cleared her throat. “Susan, I’m sure, whatever happens, it will work out,” she sat up straighter, regaining an air of authority. “But still, I think you should go tonight.”
“How?”
Kerry looked down nervously. “I...I can be with her,” she offered quietly.
“Kerry-“
“I’m serious. I’ll watch over her for an hour or so, while you go and meet this new lawyer,” she said. “It will be fine, me and Susie have already gotten to know each other haven’t we?” Kerry lent forward and rubbed Susie's back.
“Kerry,” Susan sighed, leaning back further against the chair and away from Kerry. “It’s nothing personal, but I don’t like the idea of leaving her with someone we don’t know.”
“It’s okay Susan, I understand.” she nodded with a pained smile and Susan could see how her face had fallen ever so slightly. “It was just a suggestion.” Kerry stood up and collected her crutch. No further words were exchanged between the pair as Kerry walked to the door.
“Wait Kerry,” Susan called out with a regretful grimace. She couldn’t believe she was doing this. She picked up a stray piece of paper from the table and started writing. “Umm...this is my apartment address, come by at 6:30 and I’ll go through what she needs?”
__
Susan gently inserted her key into the lock and turned the mechanism, careful to make as little noise as possible. With Susie being so difficult to settle these past few weeks, she doubted that Kerry would have had much success putting her down for the night. But on the off chance that she had, Susan didn’t want to wake her as she arrived home.
She was eager to get inside and see Susie, still not entirely comfortable with the idea of Kerry in her apartment and taking care of her. Logically she knew she didn’t have many reasons to be overly concerned. Kerry was a responsible adult and a doctor. And much to her shock, quite good at dealing with young children. However, the difficult relationship between them didn’t do a lot to settle her nerves.
She wasn’t exactly sure what she expected when she walked into her apartment, but to her surprise, everything felt overwhelmingly normal. The sheer presence of Kerry Weaver hadn’t turned the place into a cold and disturbed environment.
Not that Susan thought that of course.
It still felt like home.
She found herself smiling as she closed the door behind her and unwrapped the scarf around her neck. There wasn’t much to smile about, she thought; her life was still in shambles and she was going to have to deal with what was likely going to be another awkward Weaver interaction before she could even think about her head hitting the pillow. However, the day hadn’t been a total disaster.
There was a light on in the kitchen but the lounge area was dimly lit. A single lamp illuminated Kerry who was seated on the couch and absorbed in the book she was reading. Susan bounced up onto her tiptoes as she hung her scarf up. Raising her chin up she could just make out a peaceful Susie sleeping in her bassinet over the other side of the room and she let out a breath of air.
“Susan,” Kerry stirred and placed her book onto the coffee table. “How was it?”
“It was good,” She replied.
In fact, the meeting with this lawyer had gone far better than expected. Though Susan wasn’t keen to elaborate further right now. She had opened up herself enough to Kerry for one day. Arguably enough for a lifetime.
But this lawyer was ready to fight. The only question left was, if she was.
“I’m glad,” Kerry smiled.
Susan wandered over to the bassinet, the innate need to see her niece overpowering the fact that the girl was already settled and asleep. She placed a gentle hand on Susie’s front and stroked her cheek lightly with a finger. Susan had grown to hate missing bedtimes with Susie. The girl moved on her back ever so slightly, a little hand coming up to Susan’s that was now resting on her cheek. Susan stilled as her breath hitched in her throat.
Of course, she was going to come home and wake the baby in front of Kerry.
But Susie’s face remained content as she continued to sleep and her arm fell back down.
“She had been like that for the past hour or so,”
Susan jumped as she heard Kerry’s voice over her shoulder, not having noticed the redhead come up behind her. The women had a way of creeping up on you. Figuratively and literally.
“Took me long enough,” Kerry continued with a smile. “But she hasn’t woken since, so fingers crossed, she might sleep through for you.”
“I can’t tell you how much of a relief that is,” Susan let herself relax. “Thank you, Kerry.”
Kerry nodded stiffly before turning back and using the various pieces of furniture to balance as she returned to her crutch that had been resting against the back of the couch. Susan instinctively looked away, not having realized until that point that she wasn’t using her crutch. She never really thought about it, Kerry’s leg, but seeing her grimace as she walked across the apartment made her internally cringe as she remembered the incident in the lounge.
How she had managed to create such a complex relationship with Kerry she didn’t know.
Never in her life had Susan had so many painful interactions with the same person. And the worst of it all was that she didn’t actually dislike Kerry. Sure, the woman could drive her up the wall on a daily basis but she didn’t hate her. There had been far worse bosses in her life. And yet, the two could never seem to have a normal conversation. Sometimes they’d laugh together, Kerry would feel like one of them, one of the team. And then it was like she was an alien from another planet, sent here to obsessively pick over their every move.
And Susan let Kerry get to her, more than anyone else.
“I guess I better be going then,” Kerry fluffed up the cushions where she had been sitting and picked up her bag. “Umm...there is also some takeout for you in the fridge.”
Susan looked over surprised and walked into the kitchen. Though before she made it into the fridge, she noticed that the kitchen had obviously been cleaned and she immediately felt embarrassed. She had made sure that the apartment was in somewhat of a presentable state before Kerry arrived. However, it was now clear that Kerry hadn’t thought so.
But still, Susan tried to focus on how it was nice of her.
“It’s Chinese. I’ve seen you eat it at work. Not that I watch you eat or anything. I just knew that it was something you liked. Anyway...” she stammered.
“Kerry, you shouldn’t have.”
“Oh, it was nothing really.”
Susan was about to thank her again when something caught her eye in her bedroom. There were three freshly washed and folded piles of clothing sitting at the end of her bed.
“You...you washed my clothes?”
There it was, Susan thought. Kerry Weaver could not help herself. Had to go and interfere in her life once again. And now she was micromanaging her in her own home. The thought of Kerry seeing her baby vomit-covered shirts and god knows what else sent Susan into overdrive. This was too much of a personal infringement for her.
Not picking up on the sudden change in Susan’s mood, Kerry continued as she put on her coat. “Susie was a bit grizzly and I thought a trip to the laundry room may help. She surprisingly likes it down there.”
“I didn’t say you could do my laundry!”
Kerry stilled, her face palling at the sudden acidity in Susan’s voice. “I just thought you might appreciate the extra help.”
“I don't want your help, Kerry! Not at work and definitely not in my own home.” she spat out. “I’m not useless you know?”
Susan lent heavily against the kitchen counter with her arms forward and closed her eyes. She needed Kerry to leave now.
Kerry, however, walked over to her with a look of concern in her eyes.
“Susan, I don’t think you are useless.” She reached out to place a hand on Susan’s forearm. But, Susan dramatically flinched away from her and Kerry stumbled back.
The redhead visibly tensed and straightened into her usual demanding posture. “I overstepped. It won’t happen again.”
“Kerry-” Susan began as Kerry began to walk to the door but she was distracted by the sudden cries from Susie who had awoken with the commotion. Quickly she rushed over to her, picking her up and rocking her against her chest. “Shhh, I’m sorry, it’s okay Susie.”
But Susie continued to cry.
“I’ll see you at work tomorrow. Don’t be late,” Kerry said as she was leaving. “It..it has been happening far too frequently of late. It doesn’t look good for your application for Chief Resident.”
Susan’s apartment did feel cold that night.

Y/n’s world crushed when her brother was killed by Damon Salvatore. Damon was being an asshole and decided he was going to kill some random person, just because Elena didn’t want to be with him. He drained Y/ns brother dry of blood. What was worse was he knew it was Y/ns brother. He knew that Y/n was a friend of Elenas. That maybe if he killed her brother it would make Elena feel upset. But that wasn’t the case.
Y/n walked into her house that she shared with her slightly younger brother. -he was only about a year or two younger than her.
“Jackson!” She called, sitting her bag on the sofa as she walked through the living room to the kitchen to grab a blood bag. - her brother knew she was a vampire.
“Jack?” Y/n asked as she noticed a puddle of blood on the hardwood floor in the kitchen.
“Oh my god.” Y/ns voice broke as she fell down beside her brother. Her arms wrapped around him as tears went down her face.
He was the last member of her family. All her other family either didn’t talk to them or was dead.
“Please, don’t leave me.” She cried as she held onto him.
She already knew was dead so she didn’t even try to give him any of her blood.
“Please!” She sobbed into her brothers chest. She could see the two puncture wounds on his neck. She knew who did this, which made her sick to her stomach.
“Don’t leave me. Your the only thing I have left.” She cried for hours until she couldn’t no more. Her phone rang, but she never answered it. She couldn’t pull herself away from her brothers cold dead body.
A couple hours later she heard knocking at the door, but didn’t answer it. Whoever was knocking on the door let themselves in.
“Y/n, love. You never answered my calls. What’s goin- Oh my god. What happen?” Enzo asked as he bent down to H/n holding her brother.
“He killed him.” She cried holding onto her baby brother as if it would bring him back.
“He knew if he hurt me he would hurt Elena. But he went to far, Enzo.” She cried as she held on her brother tighter. Afraid to let go.
“Damon did this?” Enzo asked as he looked down at his girlfriend of 3 years.
She nodded as she wiped her teary eye.
“I’m going to make him pay.” He whispered looking at Y/n. She shook her head as she looked down at her brother. He noticed her take a deep breath then close her eyes.
“Y/n, Love.” He started slowly as he noticed what she was doing.
Grabbing her shoulders he shook her.
“Don’t, y/n. Cutting it off isn’t going to help not won’t bring him back.”
Y/n smirked as she opened her eyes back open. Her once bright y/e/c eyes were dark no emotion left in them.
“No, but it will make it easier for me to kill Damon.” With that she fled out the house to find Damon.
Enzo cursed as he grabbed his phone ringing Damon as fast as he could.
“Mate, you fucked up.”
“How did I fuck up? I feel good. I just had a fresh bite, and I’m feeling free as hell.” Damon slurred.
“Are you drunk, mate?” Enzo questioned as he started towards his car to go to the Salvatore house before his love.
“Just a little bit. (Knock knock). Hey look someone’s at the door. Probably my next meal. I’ll call you in a few minutes.”
“Damon, don’t.” Too late Damon hung you.
“Y/n, what can I do for you?” Damon asked allowing what he thought was his friend. But right now she wasn’t not a friend. She saw red. She was going to murder the oldest Salvatore is she could.
“You killed him. You killed my brother. So,” she starred at the man with a murderous glare.
“Oh, we’re talking about him. Yeah, didn’t really mean to. I mean, i just snapped and had myself a taste. Didn’t really know he died.” He chuckled looking at Y/n.
She growled as her y/e/c eyes turned red Veins appearing below her eyes.
“Look, we can talk this out can’t we. I mean, you saved him didn’t you.” Damon noticed the lack of humanity in her eyes and started to get nervous.
“I’m gonna kill you. But first a little bit of torcher.” Vamp running over to him she snapped his neck.
He thumped down to the floor “dead”.
Y/n grabbed him and pulled him to her car. Putting his body in the trunk and driving to her parents lake house in a different county.
Damon groaned as he slowly woke up. He tried to move his hands, but couldn’t his hands were chained down to the metal chair. He looked at his arm and noticed a IV going into his arm. He figured the IV was full of Vervain because he was burning from the inside out.
“Awe, look who’s awake. I thought you’d never wake up.” Y/n smirked as she walked over to Damon with a wooden stake in her hand.
“Your not gonna stake me.” Damon spoke confidently.
“Oh really, well..” she stabbed him quite literally in his back. Make him scream out in pain.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I think I just back stabbed you.” She giggled.
“Bitch.”
“I prefer murdeous psycho bitch. Actually, because that’s what I’m about to do. Become a murderous Psyco bitch.”
She pulled the stake from his back twisting it making it hurt worse than what it needed.
“Look at what I stole from Jeremy. You see I know how to use a gun. Always have, my family. Well, my late family. Which is dead, by the way.” Y/n held the pistol with wooden bullets pointed it at Damon’s knee.
“I don’t think you need to walk for a while.” She said shooting him twice in both knees. He was hissed and yelped in pain.
“Now, the torcher is just beginning.” She whispered as she bent down put her face in his.
“How does vervain feel going through veins?” Y/n asked as she sat in a chair in front of the oldest Salvatore.
“I stings, you asshole.”
“Well, I don’t think stinging is good enough.” She laughed.
Walking over to a bucket with a bunch of vervain in it. She put on gloves she grabbed the vervain and walked back over to Damon.
“Open up.” She smirked. Shoving the vervain in his mouth.
“Ahhh!” Damon screamed in agony.
“This is just the beginning, Damon. Nobody is going to find us. Ever. Nobody knows where we are. And I ditched both of our phones. So they won’t be able to track us. Plus I have sage burning. So not even the most power witch will be able to find us.” She rambled with a smirk on her face.
This went on for days. Y/n would torcher him, drain his blood, replacing the blood with vervain, shoot him with the wooden bullets. Making sure not to puncture his heart. But to keep the torcher going as long as she could. That is until someone came knocking on the door.
“Company I wonder who that could be. Doesn’t matter.” Y/n said grabbing the stake and stabbing Damon in his ribs.
“Get up and walk.” She demanded after she unchained the man.
He was pale and weak. Barely able to walk. But did as he was told.
She dragged him by the chains and pulled him up the stairs to the front door where she seen Stefan, Enzo, Caroline, Bonnie and Elena standing.
“Oh, joy more people.” She sarcastically spoke looking at her friends and boyfriend.
“Oh my god.” Bonnie gasped looking at a bloody and weak Damon.
“What, oh this?” She giggled wickedly.
“This is nothing. You should see my brother. Spoiler alert, he’s dead.” Y/n laughed with no emotion.
Everyone in front of her noticed the lack of emotion.
“You can’t come in. I’m afraid. You see I had a special witch bitch friend of mine do a spell where nobody can come in here until Damon’s dead or until I decide they can. So, Bonnie. Elena, You can’t even come in here if you tried. And the rest of you well. You see your all vampire so I ain’t worried ‘bout. But how bout you enjoy the front stage view of me killing Damon.”
“Y/n, you don’t have to do this.” Stefan started looking at his brother and then to his friend.
“No, I do have to do this. He killed the last of my family. Do you understand how it feels to have all your family killed in front of you?!” Y/n yelled as she looked at the younger Salvatore her eyes starting to become glassy as some emotions started slowly coming back to her.
“Yes, I do.” Elena said breaking into the conversation.
“You have no part in this. It’s your fucking fought that my brothers dead. If you would’ve just said the goddamn truth about loving them both of them. My brother would be alive. I would have my humanity. But you know I like being without my humanity. I mean do you know how good it feels to bite into someone and not worry about draining them?!” Y/n bellowed as she made her way in front of the group.
“Y/n, love. Please let’s talk about this.” Enzo spoke softly looking at his broken girlfriend in tears.
“Please, let me be there for you. You don’t need to do this. It’ll hurt him worse if you let him live. He will have live with the guilt knowing her killed the last of your family.” Enzo tried to get her to not kill Damon.
Yes, everyone there was mad at Damon. But they weren’t going to murder him.
“No!” She bellowed holding her head as more feelings started breaking through the barrier.
“Just stop! Make it stop!!” She sobbed holding her head as all the things she has done in the pass three days come back to her.
“Come in.” She whispered to the four people in front of her.
“If you don’t get him, I swear to any god out there I will kill him.” Y/ns eyes flashed black and red.
“Just think about your family. Know they are in a better place. They wouldn’t want you like this.”
She felt Enzos arms go around her as Stefan and Caroline but their arms around Damon and taking him away.
“I’m so sorry.” Y/n cried as she felt all her humanity come back to her. Hitting her like a title wave.
“It’s okay, love. It’s gonna be okay.” He kissed her forehead as he held her in her arms.
And it was okay. Y/n took her time to try to get back to normal. Luckily she wasn’t alone. Enzo was there the whole time for her. Anything she needed he was there for her. He loved her too much to just let her go.

Developing Now (Prophecy Update )
By Daymond Duck            Published on: August 8, 2021
Concerning world government: on July 28, 2021, prophecy teacher Geri Ungurean posted a Tony Koretz video on her website (Absolute Truth from the Word of God) in which Tony made a couple of statements that really caught my attention:
“We are headed toward a worldwide dictatorship.”
“A global medical dictatorship is rising.”
Writer’s comment: It is hard to deny that the shadow government is using unelected individuals to dictate policies (masks should be required, vaccinations should be mandatory, people that disagree with them should be censored; lockdowns should be ordered, etc.) to nations all over the world.
The government of Antichrist will be a worldwide dictatorship, and it is developing now.
It may even be more developed than most people realize because it doesn’t appear that Biden is in charge at the White House, and someone has made Covid a global issue.
On July 30, 2021, Bloomberg reported that “More than 4.06 billion doses have been administered across 180 countries…. The latest rate was roughly 39.7 million doses a day.”
Below is more information about Covid than this writer likes to put in one article, especially with everything else that is happening, but this idea that Covid is being used to establish a global medical dictatorship needs to be explored.
Just know that Jesus will eventually throw a big monkey wrench into the plans of this global medical dictatorship (no one knows the day or the hour), and ultimately, we will win.
One, concerning open borders or a borderless world: on July 28, 2021, it was reported that Catholic Charities had booked all the rooms at a hotel in La Joya, TX, the U.S. Border Patrol was releasing immigrant families to Catholic Charities, 20-30 Covid-infected people were staying at the hotel, and infected individuals were then being moved to other hotels in the McAllen, TX area.
It appears that Catholic Charities and the Biden administration’s Border Patrol are knowingly and deliberately spreading Covid while Biden (under the influence of the shadow government) is blaming the unvaccinated for spreading Covid and talking about forcing unvaccinated U.S. citizens to get vaccinated.
It looks like the shadow government is creating an excuse to have another lockdown and try to control everyone.
Update: Earlier in the week, TX Gov. Abbott signed an Executive Order to stop the Biden Administration from transporting illegal aliens (many infected with Covid) into and through TX. But on July 30, 2021, Biden’s Attorney Gen. Merrick Garland said it is “dangerous and unlawful” for Abbott to stop the federal government from bussing illegal aliens into the U.S.
If this is not knowingly and deliberately spreading Covid, what is it?
Update: On Aug. 2, 2021, Bill Melugin, Fox News Correspondent in Los Angeles, wrote, “All morning long, we’ve watched Border Patrol drop off multiple busloads of migrants at a Catholic charity in downtown McAllen, where they are given food & shelter before they take buses and flights across the United States. Buses arriving every 30 minutes so far.”
Update: On Aug. 4, 2021, Fox News Commentator Lawrence Jones said, “Every hour of every single day, buses leave the border taking people with Covid to other parts of the country.”
Writer’s comment: Unvaccinated people are not to blame for this, and it is partly why the U.S. may have to go into another lockdown; more people will lose their jobs, businesses, etc.; inflation will soar; the U.S. economy will worsen, etc.; and the real goal is to scare people into accepting a godless one-world government.
Two, concerning deceit: on July 28, 2021, people in the halls of the House of Representatives were required to wear masks, but people in the halls of the Senate (same building) were not required to wear masks.
Why does the government and CDC tell people to follow the science when members of the House are required to wear masks and members of the Senate are not required to wear masks?
Does the science that our government wants people to follow change depending upon where people are in the halls of Congress?
Three, concerning the shadow government’s desire to reduce the population of planet Earth: it is difficult to know the truth, but on July 28, 2021, it was reported that the Director of an Alex Jones video said (as this writer understands it), one’s immunity system is reduced after the second jab of a Covid-19 vaccination; every jab after that will reduce the vaccinated person’s immunity system even more; continuous vaccinations will eventually reduce one’s immunity system to zero; eventually the vaccinated person will require a jab for every new illness that comes around because they won’t have a natural immune system to work against it, and they cannot survive if they don’t get it.
According to an article by Brandon Smith on July 29, 2021, globalists and their puppet governments are desperate to get everyone vaccinated because they are gaining great social and political power by pushing it.
This writer will add that they plan on the government owning everything and them taking over the government.
Four, on July 29, 2021, it was reported that the Center for Disease Control claim that vaccinated people are immune to Covid is false because the CDC is now telling vaccinated people they need to wear a mask. (If getting vaccinated makes a person immune, why should they be required to wear a mask? Will the vaccinated person eventually need to take a Mark to distinguish them from the unvaccinated?)
By the way, this writer may be wrong, but he seems to remember that one purpose of social distancing was that masks are not 100% effective.
Update: On Aug. 2, 2021, Yahoo News reported that fully vaccinated people that get the Covid Delta Variant are just as likely to spread it as unvaccinated people.
Five, on July 29, 2021, it was reported that the California counties that claim to have the highest percent of vaccinated people now have the highest Delta infection rates (Why should people get vaccinated for Delta if it is going to increase their chance of getting it?).
Update: On Aug. 1, 2021, naturalnews.com reported that Israel may have the highest percent of vaccinated citizens in the world (people are required to be vaccinated if they want to buy and sell), but as much as 90% of all new infections are people that have already been vaccinated.
Six, on July 29, 2021, The Gateway Pundit posted an article by author and radio host Wayne Allyn Root that makes the following points (I am quoting him):
I personally have vaccinated friends that have gotten Covid.
New York Yankees players who were vaccinated have Covid.
An NFL Coach who was vaccinated has Covid.
Olympic athletes who were vaccinated have Covid.
Texas Democrats who were vaccinated have Covid.
In Israel, the government admits a majority of new Covid cases are among the vaccinated.
In UK, the government admits a large share of new Covid cases and hospitalizations are vaccinated.
Root gives several more examples (but you get the idea), and then he goes on to say, “America is being destroyed from within. Bad and evil people are in charge…. I know one thing for sure. Unvaccinated Americans aren’t to blame.”
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/07/wayne-root-know-exactly-blame-new-wave-covid-not-unvaccinated-americans/
Update: On Aug. 2, 2021, Sen. Lindsey Graham announced that he has tested positive for Covid even though he has been fully vaccinated.
Writer’s comment: Booster shots are needed because the vaccinations are failing.
Seven, on July 30, 2021, it was reported that Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said the Covid vaccines are failing to control the Delta variant and vaccinated people may be more contagious than unvaccinated people. (Really! Vaccinated people are more likely to spread Delta than unvaccinated people?)
On July 30, 2021, White House correspondent William Koenig reported, “The vaccines are not working—in fact, they are making things worse. The White House and the CDC are alarmed that many of the new coronavirus cases are with those vaccinated.” (Koenig’s Eye View from the White House)
Koenig said, “Dr. Peter McCullough told on Fox’s Laura Ingraham Thursday night of a recent wedding in Houston that had 35 guests. All were vaccinated, and all came down with COVID…. would it be possible that the vaccinated need to be put into quarantine to protect the non-vaccinated?”
On Aug. 2, 2021, Pam Geller reported that as of June 1, 2021, 99% of Gibraltar’s estimated 34,000 residents had been fully vaccinated, but Covid has now exploded on the peninsula; and 90% of Iceland’s estimated 369,000 residents have been fully vaccinated (98% of those over 70), but Covid is surging.
On Aug. 2, 2021, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) admitted that 74% of the people that were infected in a recent Delta Variant outbreak in Massachusetts were people that had already been fully vaccinated.
Eight, on July 29, 2021, it was reported that the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) came out against forced vaccinations.
The AAPS said, “all human beings have the right to liberty, which they do not forfeit when they serve the sick or the disabled.”
They said “experimental drugs” (the vaccines are experimental) cannot be coerced according to federal law.
Nine, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on July 30, 2021, an Iranian drone struck and an Israeli oil tanker. Defense Min. Benny Gantz called an emergency meeting and announced that Israel will make an “appropriate response.”
Updates:
On Aug. 1, 2021, the U.S., UK, and Russia gave Israel the “green light” to retaliate against Iranian targets. Iran said it will “respond promptly and strongly to any misadventure.”
On Aug. 3, 2021, it was reported that Iran or Iranian proxies seized 5 civilian vessels (4 are oil tankers) near the UAE coast.
Ten, concerning wickedness and deceit: in late July, it was reported that:
Audits of the 2020 election may move forward in Wisconsin and 5 counties in Florida.
The Biden Justice Dept. warned state and local officials that it is “concerned” about the legality of some audit procedures.
Twitter suspended several accounts that have been reporting on audits in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Auditors in Arizona testified that there were widespread irregularities in more than 2 million ballots that were cast in Arizona.
A joint meeting of the Arizona house and senate can legally decertify the Arizona election, and they may eventually do that.
Eleven, concerning the decline of the U.S.: on July 27, 2021, former Sec. of State Mike Pompeo said, “Collapse from within is possible.”
Pompeo added, “Immigration without assimilation, illicit drugs, human trafficking, disputed elections, inflationary risks have become the tools to disassemble our republic in what must surely be an attempt at national suicide.”
It sounds like Pompeo believes people are deliberately attempting to bring down the U.S. (This writer believes the Deep State may be trying to cause the U.S. to commit national suicide, but the economic collapse will be after the Rapture.)
Twelve, concerning a departure from the faith and a falling away in the Church: on July 26, 2021, it was reported that Facebook is planning to use future church lockdowns to increase its number of users.
Adding services could be a good thing, but Facebook censors services that go against “their Community Standards,” and it is dangerous to have people that support abortion, gay marriage, world government, world religion, etc., deciding what can and cannot be streamed on Facebook.
Perhaps, this is one reason why Paul said, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb.10:25).
God wants the whole world to hear the preaching of the Word, but He wants it to be the whole Word, not a filtered, censored, or politically correct message.
Thirteen, in the Bible, the Greek word translated “sorrows” means travail, labor pains, birth pains, etc.
Birth pains increase in frequency and intensity as the birth of a child nears.
When Eve sinned, God put a curse on her; “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow (labor pains) and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children” (Gen. 3:16).
Jesus said false Christs, wars and rumors of wars, famine, pestilence, and earthquakes are “the beginning of sorrows” (beginning of the birth pains or Tribulation Period; Matt. 24:8).
Paul said, “For when they say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child” (Like birth pains; I Thess. 5:3).
Many prophecy teachers believe natural disasters will increase in frequency and intensity as the Second Coming nears.
On July 31, 2021, it was reported that Prof. Petteri Taalas, the Sec. Gen. of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said, “Weather, climate and water-related hazards are increasing in frequency and intensity as a result of climate change.”
How significant is it that the Bible teaches that natural disasters will increase in frequency and intensity at the end of the age, and the head of the WMO said disasters are increasing in frequency and intensity?
Fourteen, concerning the Mark of the Beast: there was a time when some prophecy teachers said one’s Social Security Number, Medical ID Number, etc., is the Mark.
Wrong, the Mark of the Beast is not everyone having a different number; it is everyone having the name, number or Mark of the Antichrist (Rev. 13:17).
On July 20, 2021, it was reported that cybersecurity expert Karen Roby said vaccine passports have to be consistent so that all countries can recognize them.
A common global vaccine passport may evolve into a common global mark in the right hand or forehead, and godless globalists that don’t believe or understand the Bible wouldn’t hesitate to push it.
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

Weird History Wednesday: UFO Encounters in American History (Part 2)🛸
(feat. my 2 favorite international UFO stories of all time!)
Tumblr media
1. The American Airship Wave (1896-1897) Beginning in California in 1896, sightings of strange ships and lights in the sky began to be reported in unprecedented numbers across the Western United States. Many of the encounters describe hearing singing, voices, or strange noises accompanying the sighting of strange lights or crafts. One account by Colonel H.G. Shaw from Stockton, CA claims while driving his buggy, Shaw came across a strange metallic object rested in a field. He stated that 3 slender figures around 7 ft tall approached his buggy making a ‘strange warbling noise’, and tried to force him back to their craft with them. Despite their size, he was able to fight them off, after which they fled back to their craft and disappeared into the sky.
2. Mantell UFO incident (1948) A little before 2pm on January 7th, 1948, Kentucky Air National Guard pilot Thomas F. Mantell was sent out in a P-51 Mustang Fighter to pursue an unidentified flying object in the vicinity. The only description of the object was that is was circular in shape and around 80-90 meters in diameter. Mantell pursued the object until he encountered an unstable altitude that caused him to spiral downward and crash, resulting in his death. Some have wondered if the object was a military weather balloon, but the object in question has never been definitely identified.
3. The Flatwoods Monster (1952) The Flatwoods monster is an entity reported to have been sighted in the town of Flatwoods in Braxton County, West Virginia, United States, on September 12, 1952, following the appearance of a bright object crossing the night sky. After seeing the strange object seemingly crash land on a neighboring farm, 3 boys went to notify the owners of the farm, and they walked as a group into the property’s woods to investigate. While looking for the object, they describe encountering a humanoid figure approximately 10ft tall, with glowing green eyes, small ‘claw like’ hands, and a head that resemble ‘an ace of spades’. It appeared to glide toward the group making a hissing noise, before the residents dropped their flashlights and fled.
Tumblr media
4. The Incident in Aurora, Texas (1897) Another bizarre encounter from the airship ‘wave’ of 1896-1897 happened in Aurora, Texas on April 17, 1897. According to reports, a strange metallic craft reportedly crash landed on local farm after hitting a windmill. After finding the site of the crash, the residents are said to have found metallic debris along with a body described as ‘not of this world’. The farmers, for some reason, decided to dispose of the craft remnants in a well, and buried the strange body on the property with traditional ‘Christian Rites’ as well as a grave marker (which has since been taken down). 5. Allagash Abductions (1976) Brothers Jim Weiner and Jack Weiner were on a camping trip in Allagash, Maine with friends Charles Foltz and Charles Rak when they claimed that they were abducted by aliens on August, 20, 1976. During a hypnosis session, they recalled being taken aboard a circular UFO and being "probed and tested by four-fingered beings with almond-shaped eyes and languid limbs". In a later interview by the St. John Valley Times, Charles Rak changed his story, saying he saw strange lights during the camping trip, but the abduction part of the story was a fabrication. The other three members of the group though stand by the abduction story, saying that “...after all these years, (we) are still in agreement with the Eagle Lake event as we remember it. We also accept the results of the hypnotic regression sessions and subsequent polygraph tests as supportive of an abduction scenario".
6. Nash-Fortenberry UFO sighting (1952) The Nash-Fortenberry UFO incident was an unidentified flying object sighting that occurred on July 14, 1952, when two commercial pilots (William B. Nash and William H. Fortenberry) claimed to have seen eight UFOs flying in a tight arrow formation over Chesapeake Bay. The crafts were described as balls of light flying in an eerily precise manner. The case was listed in the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book as an "unknown” and there has still been no credible explanation found for the incident to this day.
7. Japan Airlines Flight 1628 incident (1986) On November, 17, 1986, Japan Airlines Flight 1628 was en route from Paris to Narita International Airport, near Tokyo, with a cargo of Beaujolais wine. While flying over eastern Alaska, the crew witnessed two unidentified objects flying to their left. According to their accounts, the figures abruptly rose from below and closed in seemingly to escort their aircraft as it flew. Each object had two rectangular arrays of what appeared to be glowing nozzles or thrusters, though the bodies of the crafts remained obscured by darkness. When the objects were at their closest, the aircraft's cabin lit up and the captain described being able to feel their heat on his face. When the two craft disappeared, the crew noticed a third, much larger disk-shaped object had began trailing their aircraft. The sighting lasted 50 minutes and ended in the vicinity of Denali National Park, Alaska.

The Stonehenge Incident (1975) The ‘Stonehenge Incident’ or the ‘North Hudson Park UFO sightings’ occurred on January 12, 1975 in New Jersey, at a tall grey apartment building nicknamed the ‘Stonehenge’. According to resident George O'Barski, while out driving he began hearing static over his radio and saw in North Hudson Park a dark, round flying object with brightly lit windows hovering over the ground. He then observed ten small, hooded, identically-dressed figures emerge from the UFO and appear to dig up soil, collect it in bag-like receptacles, and return to the craft. O'Barski returned to the site the next day and claims to have found the holes in the vicinity of his sighting. Months later, O'Barski told the story to ufologist Budd Hopkins, who with other ufologists allegedly found other independent witnesses (like the doormen at the Stonehenge) who also reported seeing the strange object.
9. The Ariel School Sighting (1994) In 1994 at the Ariel School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe, over 60 students reported witnessing a strange craft land on a lawn near their school in broad daylight. Several students reported feeling compelled to approach the object, and said they were communicated with telepathically by the beings inside. The students report feeling an extreme urgency combined with a message of conservation for the earth, nature, and our natural resources, as well as being given visions of possible disaster scenarios if humans didn’t heed these instructions. Many students who experienced this stand by their stories to this day, and say that it affects the decisions they make regarding conservation to this day.
10. The Celestial Phenomenon Over Nuremberg (1561) On the morning of April 14th of 1561, a mass UFO sighting was recorded via broadsheet in Nuremberg, Germany. The story says that around dawn, residents of Nuremberg saw what they described as an aerial battle, followed by the appearance of a large black triangular object and then a large crash outside of the city. The broadsheet claims that witnesses observed hundreds of spheres, cylinders and other bizarre-shaped objects that moved erratically in the sky. It also describes objects of various shapes including crosses, globes, two lunar crescents, a black spear and tubular objects from which several smaller, round objects emerged and darted around the sky at dawn. A quote from the original report states: “...there stood on both sides and as a torus about the sun such blood-red ones and other balls in large number, about three in a line and four in a square, also some alone. In between these globes there were visible a few blood-red crosses, between which there were blood-red strips, becoming thicker to the rear and in the front malleable like the rods of reed-grass, which were intermingled, among them two big rods, one on the right, the other to the left, and within the small and big rods there were three, also four and more globes. These all started to fight among themselves, so that the globes, which were first in the sun, flew out to the ones standing on both sides, thereafter, the globes standing outside the sun, in the small and large rods, flew into the sun. Besides the globes flew back and forth among themselves and fought vehemently with each other for over an hour.”

Spoilers for The Crazies (2010) below
Sam had gotten wind of a case before you all had even fully showered and slept after taking out a nest of vamps. The rundown motel that you had stopped at for a few hours reeked of mold and shame and you were sitting on the bed closest to the bathroom reading a novel when Sam barged into the room, laptop in hand.
“Dude!” Dean yelled, pulling his pants all the way up, having just emerged from the bathroom moments earlier. Sam completely ignored him, flopping down next to you prompting you to set aside your novel and give him your attention, Dean grumbling not so quietly in the corner.
“So get this,” Sam began, typing furiously against the keys of his laptop, the click clack almost drowning out Dean’s next complaints.
“Dude.” He said again, this time running a hand down his face and shaking a few water droplets from his shower wet hair. “We are exhausted. I have to get at least four hours before I dive back in. You can’t have already found a hunt in the six minutes we’ve been here.”
Sam ignored him again, scrolling through the report he hacked his way to. “You were the one who said we should take on as many cases as possible.” Sam didn’t look up from his computer, but you saw the eye roll Dean threw toward his brother and you stifled a giggle.
“Besides, this is right up our alley. It’s a small town in Pierce county. Some guy walked onto a baseball field with a shotgun and was gunned down by the sheriff after refusing to lower the gun.”
“So?” Dean responded, throwing a few flannels into his duffel as his brother spoke, clearly giving in to another hunt.
“So,” Sam continued finally looking up at Dean and closing his laptop. “Toxicology report came back negative, and another guy in the same town burned his house down with his wife and seven-year-old son trapped inside. Sounds like our kind of thing.”
“Oh my God…” You responded placing a hand over your mouth, unable to imagine what kind of monster would do such a thing. Sam rubbed a hand down your back comfortingly as he continued to fill Dean in on where they were headed and what their plan was once they got there. Dean let out a few more complaints before grabbing his and your duffel and stomping out to the car. As the hotel door slammed behind his brother, Sam smiled at you gently, and you picked up your novel and followed quietly behind him out the door.
You all loaded up the car quickly and hit the road, Dean’s mood leveling out as soon as he got behind the wheel. Sam continued to type away on his phone researching as much as possible, and you placed your ear pods in succumbing to your calming music playlist and settling into the worn leather, watching corn fields whip past the back window. You realized you had fallen asleep when you pulled into the sleepy town in the middle of the night, the slowing of the vehicle waking you up. The town was eerily dark and quiet, the only sound the rumble of the Impala’s engine and you sat up turning off your music to look through the windshield at the main street of town. The town looked like it emerged straight from a Western, but there were a few modern buildings, a coffee shop right next to the sheriffs’ station. The only thing that seemed out of place were the lack of streetlights. And people.
“This doesn’t feel right.” Sam started glancing from left to right down the deserted street. Dean grunted lowly in response maneuvering the Impala around a car parked in the middle of the road, doors thrown open, seemingly abandoned. Dean turned the car off of main street and you stepped into a completely different scene.
Through the windshield were hundreds of people, running and screaming, their faces tilted toward the sky as they were rounded up by men in camouflage military outfits with gas masks strapped tightly to their faces. The men continued to gather all of the stray people who were begging for answers and stuff them into vehicles up ahead.
“What the hell?” Dean huffed out in shock, putting the car in park, headlights shining on the scene in front of them. A woman turned toward us abruptly and screamed for help before she was tackled by a soldier and taken back to the group. Before any of us could react, we were being pulled roughly from the Impala, multiple men restraining Sam and Dean while another pulled you by the arm from the backseat.
“Dean!” You screamed out in shock as the man wrapped your arms tightly behind your back and shoved you forward toward the other people being ushered into what looked to be a school bus. You flailed around as much as you could, kicking your legs back behind you hoping to find the man’s shins or if you were lucky his groin. Three other men had Sam face-down in the ground and Dean was putting up a good fight against five others who were slowly circling him like he was a wild animal. He broke free from the circle of camo-clad men and ran to you, pulling you roughly from the man’s arms, who stumbled forward onto the pavement.
“Y/N,” Dean started, gripping you by the shoulders, green eyes wild and scared. “Run!”
You took off running forward into the darkness, knowing you couldn’t go back toward the soldiers. You weaved in and out of people hoping to find cover in an abandoned building, when you were pushed from behind and dove spread eagle onto the pavement, a knee coming down onto the middle of your back, successfully halting you.
“Get your hands off her!” You heard Dean shout from behind you, a few of the soldiers getting control of his arms and placing him face-down in the dirt as well. From your position you could see Sam, who had relaxed a bit under the men’s hold.
“Dean just relax. Let’s get on the bus and figure out what is happening.” Sam’s hazel eyes met yours and you nodded as best you could, and he offered you a reassuring smile in response. The soldier with his knee to your back lifted you up by the hands and ushered you toward the bus once again. Once aboard you took a seat toward the middle, Sam and Dean following, Dean hurrying to your side to sit next to you, and Sam sitting in the seat in front of you both.
“Are you okay, Sweetheart?” Dean asked gruffly, taking your face in his hand and gently moving it left and right trying to find a beam of light to see. You had some marks from the pavement on your cheek, but what hurt the most were your hands and you offered them up to Dean lightly, who swiped at the gravel stuck in the cuts and scrapes. You hissed, glancing up at Sam who watched attentively, keeping one eye on you two while glancing at the slew of passengers coming aboard.
“What do you think is going on?” You whispered so only the brothers could hear you, as the bus began to move, swaying the bodies who hadn’t found a seat yet back and forth. Sam shook his head in response and stared out the window. You mirrored him as Dean continued to pick the gravel from your palms.
It wasn’t long before your bus pulled up alongside at least 20 others parked behind a large building just outside of town, a sign on the wall reading “Welcome to Ogden Marsh H.S. home of the Tigers!” You looked out the window at all of the people being packed behind chain-link fences, the harsh light illuminating their tired and terrified faces. You leaned further into Dean as you watched, a voice on an intercom instructing everyone to exit the bus and keep moving. Dean gripped your shoulders keeping you in-between him and Sam, Sam holding your hand tightly as you walked single file up the walkway and stepped off into the cold night air. You were all pushed rapidly into a white emergency tent where men in full hazmat suits were waving glowing wands at everyone.
“Hey!” Dean yelled at the closest soldier as we were continually pushed forward. “What’s going on?” Sam’s hand continued to grip yours and Dean walked protectively close to you as the men ignored his shouts and we continued on. Suddenly, a loud beeping erupted from the tent and men scattered toward the sound, shouting about a temperature spike. A mother and child were standing in the corner when the little girl was ripped from the mother’s arms and passed off to a soldier while the girl cried out for her mom, kicking and screaming. The mother was being held back by a few soldiers while she reached out desperately for her child.
“Stop!” You yelled ripping your hand from Sam’s and running toward the little girl, trying to pry the man’s hands off of her, as the girl cried for you to help her.  “What are you people doing?!” You shouted in the man’s face. Another soldier held you back from throwing any punches when the beeping began again, and you realized a man with one of the wands was holding it toward you.
“Y/N!” Dean yelled, grabbing your hand as you were flanked by soldiers who picked you up roughly off the ground and dragged you toward another tent.
“Dean…. Sam!” You yelled, throwing your head back like a child having a tantrum, desperately grabbing onto Dean’s hand to keep the men from taking you from them. Sam shoved a few of the soldiers roughly to the ground as Dean continued to hang on, keeping them away from him, when one threw a lucky punch and Sam crumbled to the ground.
“Sam!” You cried out, tears streaming down your cheeks, as a few of the men grabbed roughly onto Dean forcing him to let go of your hand.
“Get off me!” He screamed, fighting toward you.
“Dean!” You continued to shout desperately as the men brought you closer and closer to the unmarked tent. The last thing you saw, before the tent flap closed behind you, was Dean’s green eyes wild and his hand reaching out toward you desperately.

That was a joy they're having real fights and it's really nasty and they're really hitting each other and it's going on now we won't be doing any wrestling matches fairly soon when he gets in shape and he's bulked up and stuff it doesn't take long be a good idea to try and have him do things train and weightlift and that kind of stuff says he's interested in doing it it'll be a good time and you can panhandle if he has to for extra money and it's not working it's not labor or employment and it was sort of see that too it's kind of funny you guys an old piece of crap and it's kind of flipping the bird this is a loser pretending you didn't and his people suck oh my God steaming bags so
-there's more happening the more luck are trying to invade as well as evacuate the game they're coming from the upper Midwest and they're trying to get here from overseas they're doing it right now and it's going to be a huge deal pretty soon in other words it's going to be a lot of people trying to get in down to Florida and it's a large number and they're going to overrun the pseudo empire fully today and some see bases but really it's raining they're getting rated very heavily and they're going to push them out and they're going to mostly come here they have other areas are going to but from up there they'll go here and they'll just place the warlock and they're still trying to use minority molok regardless of their agreement and it's not going to work that great
-other things in the news Hera is happy with her job being go-kart and Mozart she loves it and her husband needs a vehicle so she's working diligently on it and she has a lot of leaves. And he mentioned a few of them that does a lot more than that people want him in the vehicle of certain kind of want them in their vehicle and it's going on day in and day out. It's an exhausting thing but she likes it. She likes the Bentley the rolls the hot cars the fast ones loves the Bradley GT and since we put work on it but it's all over the place several times about 14 or 20 incidents and it was work and she's helping figure that out but really his gold ideas taking off and it's making it go. People want want a gold colors if they can't afford the gold it's not a bad idea because instead of all of them being gold only some well so people check too they have a way of looking at it it's going to be that way and we can put some flake in to make it seem like cold when they try and scan it they'll still be able to tell but not everybody. Feel like that actually
-we're getting some other reports people coming back Young and we are making a note of it and he's in their finger and stupid s*** so we're going to go afterthem and we know what they're doing
-and we are going to go after them but further and there are things happening here today and Charlotte county they can't seem to get the sheriff found they can't seem to get the police department now and they can't seem to get here but they're coming down here in vast numbers and they need a headquarters they need to sheriff department I need to compete and they need to get the rest of hardware they have most of it back about 80% and they want the rest some of it's down on Australia and New Zealand and they probably won't get it so they're going to take what they have here and elsewhere and bring it down or close by and they'll probably take over the islands maybe fighting is there anyways and they're moving out to do it and they're getting organized
-there's also a large number of people trying to imitate others for a myriad of reasons and it's ridiculous it's annoying as hell they suck at it and they know it then they say get stuff so we're going to start taking their things
-the war down below for ships is very huge but it's not the only thing going on people are reinstating their manufacturing facilities and insisting The fleets are going to knock themselves out and they do that but they have to build in case that doesn't and prep to fight the empire and it's going on now and the empire is pretty big the building that's what they have to do and The Shield's on the biggest ship that they don't hold out anyways and their son suggested it's not a bad idea a certain shape works pretty good it's the shape of the very fast ships that you see in Star wars and Star Trek ships work pretty good too extremely fast is it hard to hit with lasers and missiles in the pseudo empire is doing it too huge manufacturing facilities are popping up.

Update on Keep Track of Losing Days (My Untamed Crime AU)
So, I feel weird even talking about this because it’s so not important right now, but I do feel like I need to say something about it somewhere? And since I created this Tumblr mainly to have a place to participate in fandom and share my fan works, this is where I’m going to talk about it. If you don’t care about my thoughts and just want to know the plan, feel free to skip down to “TL;DR Here’s the Plan” below.
Obviously writing (and reading, probably) an AU in which the POV character is a cop is...hitting different right now. When I started KToLD, I was pretty clear that this story takes place in the world of “TV cops,” because the world of actual American policing is too depressing to write fanfic about. To expand that point: while I think that “crime fiction” is an interesting genre that, in this case, has allowed me to tell a mystery story while engaging with some of the themes about systemic abuse of power within CQL canon, I acknowledge that a world in which any American cop could be considered to be a “good cop,” regardless of their intentions, is solely the province of fiction (I will add this to the opening tags on Ao3).
Still, the fact that I was up-front about this, and that I’ve attempted to engage with some of the larger moral issues facing modern policing over the course of the story, does not negate the fact that I’ve been telling a story that empathizes with someone who, whatever else he might be, is a cop with all that that entails. We can have a whole conversation about whether or not fic needs to reflect the moral universe we’d like to see in the real world — Lord knows I’ve read and enjoyed all kinds of fucked-up stuff I’d never want to see IRL, and not felt bad about it — but this hasn’t been sitting right with me this week, and I bet it hasn’t been sitting right with some of you either.
I am going to keep writing and publishing the story, for a lot of reasons, but I understand if you don’t want to read it anymore, or if you need to take a break from it right now. The writer in me hopes you’ll come back and finish it sometime, because I’m excited to tell you the rest of the story, but if you don’t, I get it.
TL;DR Here’s the Plan:
I had originally planned to publish Chapter 7 today, June 3rd. Chapter 7 is done, but I think it’s inappropriate to publish this chapter today, while the real Seattle Police Department is tear-gassing protestors. I will plan to publish it next Wednesday, June 10th, instead.
For each chapter of this fic, I will be donating $20 to the Northwest Community Bail Fund, which provides cash bail for marginalized people  who are unable to afford bail and find themselves incarcerated while awaiting routine court appearances in King and Snohomish Counties in Washington State. I sent them $120 today for chapters 1-6 and will send another donation each time I post a new chapter.
Since this fic started as a @fandomtrumpshate auction, I will also be donating $20 per chapter to Life After Hate, the charity @idhren designated when they bought the fic as a gift for @stultiloquentia. Life After Hate provides support to people who find themselves without resources after leaving violent far-right groups. I sent them $120 today for chapters 1-6 and will send another donation each time I post a new chapter.
FTH has this great list of other ways you can help the Black Lives Matter movement, if you’re interested.
To be clear: Lan Wangji will not still be a cop at the end of this fic. I’ve already made some changes to how I plan to handle that based on recent events, but I wanted to let y’all know.
If there’s anything else I can or should be doing, I’m listening.

Debunking Misinformation About Kamala Harris
Most of the misinformation regarding Harris is valid information that leaves out the bigger picture, context, and details. They're snapshots rather than the full movie reel, if you catch my drift. I've read that she has been over-targeted because she is an easy target. People (all people - because racism is systemic and it embeds itself deep) have strong, implicit bias against Black people and against women ("misogynoir" they call this). Plus, many folks will *more willingly* eat up negative information without fact checking. The slew of widely believed misinformation about Kamala Harris - even from progressives all of diverse backgrounds - is due in part to strong, implicit racial and gender bias. In other words, it's real easy to get rumors going about women using fractions of truths. People will believe them. People are less likely to fact check them (especially as thoroughly as I just did). This is because of bias. Even PROGRESSIVE folks are guilty of this.
Not long ago, I posted a meme defending Kamala Harris to racist and sexist bias. It was loved and hated - pretty divisive, which is unsurprising for something as simplistic as a meme. I apologize. For all of those tumblr accounts that reblogged the meme with flagrant misinformation about the VP elect... I am going to rectify what I did with thorough, sourced information.

Debunking Information:
Claim: Kamala pushed a law that forces schools to turn undocumented students over to ICE
The Real: Kamala Harris has consistently been a supporter of sanctuary status and a champion for immigrant rights. The false claim arises from a change in how undocumented youth arrested for felonies were reported to ICE. Kamala Harris was not responsible for nor did she push for then Mayor Gavin Newsom’s 2008 unilateral decision to modify his policy to include reporting undocumented youth charged with felonies to ICE. Previously the policy only applied to undocumented adults. Newsom changed the policy in response to reporting that San Francisco had been footing the bill and illegally flying Honduran youth accused of dealing drugs back to their home country as well as sending them to other parts of the state. The statement that writers have taken out of context to inaccurately use as evidence Harris pushed for a change was a statement in response to the scandal over the illegal flights. Harris stated, “While detained juveniles are under the custody and control of the juvenile probation office and the court every city agency needs to work together to balance our obligations under federal law and the sanctuary ordinance to solve crimes and put the offenders behind bars.” The statement was made prior to Newsom’s policy change and from the contemporaneous reporting it is clear that the policy was not a collaborative change.
 (Ref: https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/ILLEGALS-CALLED-COURT-S-PROBLEM-3206302.php)
A fact checker wrongly accused Kamala Harris of being untruthful when she said that the change by Newsom had unintended consequences, but in fact the elected Public Defender Jeff Adachi made a similarly statement that the policy resulted in unintended effects when discussing it a year after it was implemented. Adachi stated “When this policy was put into place, the intent was to deal with what was then identified as a specific problem with Honduran youth,” Adachi said. “But we’re seeing this policy affecting youth who have lived most of their lives in San Francisco, are in school and make a mistake.”
Claim: There are multiple variations of the false claims levied at Kamala Harris over the Kevin Cooper case such as: withheld DNA evidence to keep a man on death row; denied DNA testing to exonerate a man on death row; kept a man on death row despite DNA testing that exonerated him.
The Real: Kamala Harris played no role whatsoever in the Kevin Cooper case for several reasons: 1) Convicted of four murder counts in 1983, Cooper had exhausted all of his court appeals in November 2009 which was prior to Harris taking office as AG; 2) Cooper’s only recourse left was clemency which is solely within the Governor’s powers. (Ref: https://miro.medium.com/.../1*IWka2R0J2hUcUR70rh6iBw.jpeg)
Governor Schwarzenegger first denied Cooper clemency in 2004 then again in 2010. Cooper requested clemency from Governor Brown in 2016 which was not granted. Governor Brown issued an order for new DNA testing in December 2018 shortly before leaving office. Governor Newsom expanded the testing in February 2019. Testing is still ongoing so claims that Cooper has already been exonerated and was held in prison despite of it are false.
Claim: There are many smears and distortions about Kamala Harris’ anti-truancy record including: false claims about laughing about putting parents in jail if their kids missed school; locking up parents; targeting poor families and people of color.
The Real: Truancy has been a prosecutable offense in California since 1977. Kamala Harris made the decision to tackle the elementary school truancy crisis in San Francisco after discovering that 94% of homicide victims were high school drop outs. Tackling truancy was not about punishing or prosecuting parents (which was a rarely used last resort), it was about providing parents resources needed to get their children in school.Kamala Harris did not lock parents up. A widely circulated HuffPost Editorial painting Harris as a truancy zealot contains many distortions about her record on this issue. The most egregious distortion is using a woman by the name of Cheree Peoples as a horror story of Harris’ doing when her case was a result of a local Orange County program. More details debunking the article can be found here. Kamala Harris achieved success in lowering truancy in San Francisco by 20% during her tenure. As AG, Harris created the Bureau of Children’s Justice which formed private/public partnerships to increase resources available to educators and parents to reduce truancy. (Ref: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1181175579837632513.html)
Claim: There are various versions of the false claims that Kamala Harris: blocked the release of prisoners; kept prisoners locked up for cheap prison labor; kept prisoners locked up for slave labor; refused to address prison overcrowding; kept prisoners locked up to fight fires for cheap.
The Real: The false claim arises around one specific court filing by one of the 1,000 attorneys (Patrick McKinney) working for the CA DOJ . The role of the CA AG office is to represent various state agencies in litigation and in this case the state agency was the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The court rejected McKinney’s filing on behalf of the CDCR, therefore prisoners were not in fact kept locked up despite earning 2 for 1 good time credits. Kamala Harris was not involved in the court filing nor aware of the filing prior to a news report. With over 20,000 cases per year in the Civil Law division alone (resulting in exponentially more court filings) it would not have been customary for the Attorney General to be involved in a case that only required the expertise of a mid level Deputy AG III that was several levels of management below the Harris’ level. (Ref: https://www.calhr.ca.gov/state-hr.../pages/5730.aspx)
Claim: Oversaw a state prosecutor falsifying a confession to get a life sentence and then destroyed the evidence.
The Real: This claim is in reference to wrongdoing by Deputy District Attorney Robert Murray of Kern County. The Attorney General oversees 4,500 employees including over 1,000 lawyers, but the AG does not supervise local District Attorneys and their deputies. In 2013, prior to trial during plea discussions, ADA Murray admitted to falsifying a translated transcript in the case of Efrain Velasco Palacios who faced 5 counts of lewd and lascivious acts against the 10 year old daughter of his live-in girlfriend. Palacios was facing 8 years for the 5 counts and was not charged with a crime that faced a life sentence. Superior Court Judge Staley threw the case out due to Murray’s misconduct and Palacios’ attorney being removed from the case for allegedly saying his client did not have a viable defense. The judge’s decision was appealed, arguing that Palacios could still get a fair trial with a new counsel. The judge’s decision was upheld on appeal. In 2015, Efrain Velasco Palacios plead no contest to lew or lascivious acts and unlawful intercourse with a 13 year old girl and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A quote that is backed by sources above and further sources down below:
"On the DNA case. This wasn't a case of Kamala actively trying to suppress the evidence. I believe the defendant was asking for the DNA evidence to be reexamined years later using newer, more reliable, methods. Problem was there was some bureaucratic rule that wouldn't allow it in the DNA department or something like that.
The jist of it as it applied to Kamala was there was a department within the CA DOJ that was denying the testing, and to my knowledge it was never directly raised with her till after she was out of office. She has since called for him to be given access to the testing, and I thiiink he got it. But like I said I'll try to get more detail tomorrow. On jailing black men disproportionately and coming down hard on cannabis, these are examples of folks taking statistics for the entire California criminal justice system and placing blame solely on Kamala.
Yes, black men made up a disproportionate share of prisoners in California during Kamala's tenure as AG. That was the case before she was AG and that is still the case today. It's terrible, but it's not really fair to put the effects of the entire system on Kamala. AG's don't have sole authority when it comes to law enforcement. Kamala made efforts to curb this; through reentry programs, not enforcing the 3-strikes laws, being the first AG in the county to require her officers wear body cameras and take implicit bias trading, etc.
The problem is she only had authority over the California Department of Justice. The bulk of prosecutions and incarcerations happen at the local level, with city and county DA's and police. She could not direct them to take the same steps she was taking, all she could do was try to set an example. But the law being what it was, those DAs and police had the authority to be as stringent as the law allowed (which was very very stringent). But if you look at the statistics in the areas Kamala had authority over (and again I'll try to find citations tomorrow) you'll see that she actually reduced incarcerations.
The same goes for marijuana incarcerations. People point to the 19k marijuana convictions that occured while she was AG as evidence she was a avid warrior in the War on Drugs. But that is the statistic for the entire state, and the bulk of those convictions were at the local level. And even still, over all Marijuana convictions across the state fell every year she was in office to eventually there being only like 900ish across the entire state in her last year. She obviously doesn't get all the credit for that decline, but it's another example of people manipulating statistics to fit their narratives."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Examples of things she did to improve the criminal justice system as DA & AG California:
Kamala Harris announces police anti-bias training program
California’s attorney general announced a statewide training program aimed at getting police officers to avoid having built-in biases compromise their ability to enforce laws fairly and with appropriate force.
The announcement Friday came as Kamala Harris outlined the results of a 90-day review by her agency that sought to find ways to strengthen the trust between police and the public following recent slayings of unarmed civilians by officers in cities across the country.
Harris also said that under a pilot program, of Justice Department special agents would be outfitted with on-body cameras similar to those worn by officers of some local forces in.

continued: SAN FRANCISCO / D.A. won't pursue death in cop slaying / Harris fulfills campaign pledge with decision.
San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris said Tuesday she will not seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a San Francisco police officer over the weekend, a decision that legal experts say is rare if not unprecedented in California.
The death penalty was restored in California in 1978, but The Chronicle's review found only limited documentation about the outcome of cases before 1987.
Focusing on 90 cases since 1987, the newspaper found that prosecutors sought the death penalty in nearly every case in which a suspect was arrested.

ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING GAINING ACCEPTANCE
Back on Track, a San Francisco program for first-time young adult drug offenders, involves job training, apprenticeships in the building trades, G.E.D. preparation, money-management skills, child care and other features. Because failure to complete the program means the defendant goes right to jail, the recidivism rate has been less than 10 percent. Back on Track costs $5,000 per year per participant, a significant reduction from the average cost to incarcerate someone, which can run anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000 or more.

She was the only AG to investigate big banks for their role in the mortgage crisis.
Without her the national mortgage settlement would be watered down promises rather than the guarantee it was.

In 2012, Harris helped win a massive, $25 billion settlement with Wells Fargo and other financial institutions for foreclosure abuses:
"As the fraud was being uncovered, many of the AGs were yelling 'Settle, settle, settle.' They just wanted to get their hands on the money," said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who during the negotiations was setting up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for the Obama administration. Warren has endorsed Harris for U.S. Senate and has appeared in one of the attorney general's campaign ads. "[Harris] was the one who said 'No, we have to do better, and we have to investigate more. Too many families have been destroyed by the crisis and the illegal activity of these banks.'"
In 2012, Harris also helped push through a bill in the California Legislature that offered homeowners some of the strongest protections in the nation against aggressive foreclosure tactics by banks, which was credited in part for a plunge in foreclosures in the state. The measure also gave private citizens the right to sue financial institutions if they violated the law.
Shortly after taking office, Harris created a mortgage fraud task force that not only assisted with the mortgage settlement, but also went after financial firms that targeted homeowners facing foreclosure. The task force also took legal action against the banks and financial ratings firms for the massive losses that California's two giant public pension systems, the California Public Employees' Retirement System and California State Teachers' Retirement System, sustained after unknowingly investing in securities that included risky subprime mortgages.
Harris' office collected $921 million in mortgage-backed securities settlements with JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup, Inc., Bank of America Corp., Standard & Poor's and Goldman Sachs.
Troncoso, who led the mortgage fraud strike force, said building a criminal case against bankers involved in the foreclosures that led to the national mortgage settlement would have been "extremely difficult." Harris acknowledges as much.
"I too, like most Americans, am frustrated. Clearly crimes occurred and people should go to jail," Harris said. "But we went where the evidence took us."

Here is an old summary of that "tooth and nail" quote:
So when the judge in question says the AG office "fought tooth and nail" to sustain the false testimony in question, he was referring to the actions of the office under the prior attorney general. Which the judge says in the immediately preceding the quote in the same sentence! "Your office, now under a prior Attorney General, but your office, fought tooth and nail to keep the 1998 sentencing transcript away from the Court of Appeal." Timestamp 32:01. So the quote specifically about Kamala's predecessor but has been used to smear her.

On the DNA case:
Kevin Cooper: I won't go deep into the facts on this one because they aren't really the point and because I did a terrible job at brevity with the last case. I'll just note that the origin of this case is 1983. Now, the person you're quoting here doesn't seem to have their facts straight. They don't even align with what is in the sources cited. The NYT article referenced (which isn't even the one cited, here - sourced below - is the actual one) does call her out but does not assert that she "refused" to grant DNA testing. Here's what the article actually says with regard to Kamala:
Kamala Harris, who was state attorney general and is now a U.S. senator, was unhelpful.
That attorney general's office was in possession of the evidence and could have conducted the test. It didn't. And in the NYT article cited in the quote Kamala said she regretted that it did not happen and that her office should have done it. You may not care what she has to say, but she owned up to it. And then she went a step further and she called on the governor to allow the testing to proceed. Not the other way around, as your quote states.

And here is an article debunking a meme about her disproportionately incarcerating black men for marijuana possession. It also debunks some particularly racist and sexist stuff that was out there, so if you don't want to have to wade through that bullshit here is the section on marijuana and convictions:
“IMPRISONED 2,000 BLACK PEOPLE WHILE CALIFORNIA AG” – NO EVIDENCE
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) shared state level statistics of incarcerations by offense with Reuters via email (it is important to note their statistics are for state prisons and exclude data from county jails). The admissions for marijuana and hashish related offenses for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 was 581 (page 37 in report also visible here ). Their 2013 data is unavailable, while 2011-2012 data shared with Reuters indicated 921 offenders in 2011 and 505 for 2012 for these drug categories. This adds to a total of 2,007 offenses for the years 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. This drug offender data was not, however, categorized by race. (Calculations by Politifact reached similar numbers in 2019, here )
Mercury News noted that most of the marijuana cases in the state were not prosecuted by the AG, but by county districts attorneys, so the total number for the state is likely a lot higher than the CDCR data. As San Francisco’s DA, the paper says, Harris oversaw “1,956 misdemeanor and felony convictions for marijuana possession, cultivation, or sale”, some of which did not conclude in jail time (here).
In California, the possession of over 28.5 grams of marijuana and possession with the intention of distributing the drug are considered misdemeanors (here). Kamala Harris is listed as AG in the California Department of Justice (DOJ) data reports from 2010 to 2015 (DOJ reports for 2016 data onward fall under Xavier Becerra, Harris’ successor as AG). California DOJ statistics for 2015 show the number of Black people arrested (not imprisoned) with misdemeanors relating to marijuana offenses was 656 (table 34, page 42 here ), in 2014 it was 717 (table 34, page 42 here ), in 2013 it was 768 (table 34, page 42 here ), for 2012 it was 1,069 (table 34, page 42 here ), for 2011 it was 981 (table 34, page 42 here ) and for 2010 it was 8,985 (table 34, page 42 here ). This totals to 24,211 arrests for marijuana related misdemeanors (the substantial drop from 2010 is likely a result of legislation changes.
see source https://www.cjcj.org/news/5542
In short, both California DOJ and CDCR reports show that marijuana related arrests and state level incarcerations for Black people during Harris’s time as AG (the closest data to what Reuters assumed the claims are implying) were not reflective of the 2,000 figure stated in these claims.

If you're interested in how she handled Marijuana convictions when she was DA and had a more direct role in those cases, and her record generally as DA, here is a piece by Niki Solis who was a public defender when Kamala was DA. (And if you know anything about local court politics, you know DA's and Public defenders often do not exactly see eye to eye).
source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2020/08/10/kamala-harris-progressive-pioneer-san-francisco-da-column/3334668001/
Marijuana sales cases were routinely reduced to misdemeanors. And marijuana possession cases were not even on the court’s docket. They were simply not charged. Unless there was a large grow case, or a unique circumstance, this was the reform-minded approach then-DA Harris’ office took. The accusations about marijuana prosecutions being harsh during her tenure are absurd. The reality was quite the opposite.
Other quotes from Solis:
“Sen. Harris’ progressive approach did not end with marijuana prosecutions or lack thereof. She co-founded the Coalition to End the Exploitation of Kids. She then spearheaded a task force combating the human trafficking of girls. Upon her invitation, I went to the task force meetings to speak on behalf of one of my juvenile clients. My client, a beautiful teenage girl, had aspirations of joining the military. She was selling her body to earn money when her life was cut short; she was found dead in a San Francisco dumpster. Harris and I talked about my client and the exploitation of young girls happening on a constant basis. Unlike her predecessors, she did something about it. She stopped prosecuting young girls for prostitution — acknowledging that they were victims who needed treatment for trauma and not criminals who needed to be incarcerated.
For those who have heard contrary arguments about Harris’ past work as a prosecutor, rest assured that you are hearing this from someone whose life’s work has been dedicated to the cause of equality and justice. I am the chair of the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office Racial Justice Committee and have scratched and clawed for some semblance of justice in our courts for well over two decades. I grappled with this idea of defending a former prosecutor for a long time, but Harris is more than that. I have to acknowledge the truth and say what I feel is right to set the record straight. Should Joe Biden decide not to select Kamala Harris as a running mate, her track record as San Francisco district attorney should certainly not be one of the reasons.”

This is truly magnificent analysis. It's a bit of a long read, but it is ABSOLUTELY magically clarifying. I'll include my thoughts in a follow-up because this is perfectly in line with something I've been thinking about for a while.
Buckle up, this one is a bit of a roller coaster.
Let’s talk population density.
Do you know the population density of the zip code you live in?
What about the population density of where you spent your formative years?
That’s a bit of a rhetorical question, because I’m guessing the answer is no. I certainly didn’t, so I’d be impressed and surprised if I asked someone this question in casual conversation and they rattled off the number to me.
I’d never thought about population density until I traveled to India in 2018. We flew into Mumbai which has a population density of 75,000 people per sq. mi. To give you some perspective, NYC has 27,000 per sq. mi. (post originally said 10,431people but that is per sq. km. not mi.) and as most of my friends are familiar with King of The Hammers, in Johnson Valley, when Hammertown doesn’t exist, it has a population density of 15.2 people per sq. mi.
Mumbai has the highest population density of any city in the world, and until you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to describe. If you have ever been in the first 10 rows of a sold-out standing room only concert, that is as close as I can relate to how people move through the streets of Mumbai. There is literally no such thing as personal space. Not for you, not for your vehicle. I think one of the most fascinating things our entire group realized in Mumbai is whatever you do, do NOT stop. Merge in, merge out, but sudden stops cause pile ups of humans, vehicles, etc. Everything is in fluid motion, when you step into the stream you go with the current, when you need to leave the stream you move to the edges and hop out. What was also interesting was the lack of rage or frustration we saw, and the lack of accidents! I don’t think I saw two people yell at each other the entire time we were there. Same with car accidents, I saw one slight bumper brush. Nothing worth stopping over, as every car had marks from similar encounters.
You would think with so much closeness fights would break out often, accidents would be on every corner. But something strange happens. There is no space for the individual in that type of population density. If you wanted to stop and be mad or outraged, you would literally be trampled. So you move with the flow, or you step outside of it. One person cannot go against the current and be successful, individual needs simply cannot matter for society to function in that type of population density. This is different from NYC where you do see individuals disagree on street corners. Because even as dense as NYC is there is room for the individual. Even our most densely populated cities are nothing compared to other countries. America has space and the individual has rights.
When this country was founded the population density of even our biggest cities was a fraction of large cities in Europe. Which is why our constitution so heavily outlines the liberties and freedoms of the individual compared to places like England where their population density even today is 10 times that of the United States as a whole.
Ever since news of the pandemic broke I’ve found myself fascinated with population density in the US. This fascination started because it seemed obvious to me that the transmission of COVID would happen far faster in our highest population density areas of the country. Wikipedia has a list of cities by population density. Here’s how the top 20 most dense cities breaks down: 9 in New Jersey (NYC metro area),4 in CA (LA metro area), 3 in NY (NYC metro area), 2 in Florida (Miami metro area), 1 in Mass (Boston metro area), and 1 in Kentucky (Louisville). Except for Kentucky these population dense areas directly correlate to the highest areas of infection in the country.
But my fascination with population density didn’t stop at the pandemic. I wanted to understand population densities of different areas. I started looking up places I’d lived and visited that felt both dense and sparse population wise. It should come as no surprise that cities are always the most dense and rural areas are always the most sparse.
Then as the mask debate started unfolding in my newsfeed, I found myself loosely assigning a population density to people as they made their stance on masks known. Those that lived in higher population densities were usually more for masks than those who lived in less population dense areas.
Again, this made sense. Those that live in cities encounter more people in a day going about their routine. If they live in high-density housing, they share elevators, stairwells, mailrooms, lobbies, etc. The needs of the individual matter less the higher the density, so fighting the mask goes against the stream. You can do it, but it’s not easy.
Those I know that live more rural were less inclined to want to wear masks. I’ve found a general rule of thumb in casual conversation is if you can walk to your nearest market (even if it’s a gas station or 7/11), you understand the need for a mask. If you MUST drive to your nearest market, you likely don’t have to encounter many people in a day if you choose not to, and masks feel like just another unnecessary restriction imposed by the government. The individual has more freedoms and rejects government oversight more the lower the population density.
At some point this year I saw some people sharing an image of the US broken up by red states (Republican) vs. blue states (Democrat), compared to a map of COVID cases. At the time, the blue states almost directly correlated to where the highest COVID outbreaks were happening. The conclusion those sharing this map were trying to draw was that COVID was political and made up by the political leaders of blue states. It was largely those living in unaffected areas sharing this map and drawing these conclusions.
What I took from these images was that the higher the density the more likely an area was to be run by Democrats. Which lead me down a rabbit hole. Apparently, someone named Dave Troy noticed the same thing, and wrote an interesting article based on the 2012 election between Obama and Romney. 98% of the 50 most dense counties voted Obama. 98% of the 50 least dense counties voted Romney.
And this Dave guy sounds like someone I would enjoy having a discussion with. Because this data drew him to the same question I had. Where is the crossover point in population density between those that vote Republican vs. those that vote Democrat? The data says that at about 800 people per sq. mi. people switch from voting primarily Republican to voting primarily Democrat. Below 800 people per sq. mi. there is a 66% chance that you voted Republican in 2012. The data doesn’t appear much different in the following years.
So why does this matter? Because how you were raised and how you live has a huge impact on what matters to you from your politicians and your government.
Those I know that grew up in less dense areas had to be self-reliant. When calling 911 means you’re likely waiting 20 minutes or longer for police, an ambulance, or a fire truck. You have to be able to defend yourself, handle your own first aid, and rely on your neighbors to help in critical emergency situations. When I tell people in Southern California that where I grew up had volunteer firefighters and EMTs they don’t believe me.
The more rural you are, the less you rely on government entities for your day-to-day needs. The most rural have well water, septic systems, take their trash to the dump, if it snows, they have a vehicle that can plow, and the truly rural use propane for power and heat. They are not reliant on most services provided by the public utilities. They use guns as tools to protect their animals and their family from prey and from vermin. They do not really encounter homeless people, as even the poorest can usually find a shack to live out of and require a vehicle to get around. These people in less dense areas do not depend on the government to solve their problems. They’d prefer government stay out of their lives completely. Less taxes, less oversight, less being told what to do. To the rural, it seems like every time the government interferes in their life, they lose another freedom, and their quality of life diminishes.
Those I know that grew up in more dense areas are used to calling 911 to handle emergencies. Their streets are swept in the summer and plowed in the winter. Their trash is picked up on the same day weekly. They don’t have space for cars and tools, so they tend to take public transportation or walk. They call someone when something breaks that requires tools they don’t own. They are used to encountering the homeless on the streets as part of their daily life. The truly poor and homeless usually end up in cities as the services to help the sick, mentally ill and the poorest among us are more available in dense areas. So the wealthy interact with the poor in cities far more than they do in rural areas. Those in higher density areas are willing to pay for government services because they are a regular part of their daily lives and make life more manageable. Without these services, the quality of life they know would not exist.
This got me thinking about some research I did a few years ago, when I learned that the average American only lives 18 miles from their mother. Those in NY and PA only live on average 8 miles from their mothers. From Kentucky to Louisiana the average is 6 miles. Less than 20% of Americans live more than a few hours drive from mom. The further you move from home depends greatly on your education and income. For the most part, the wealthier you are, the more you can pay for child and elder care, making it easier to travel further from home. Also, the more educated, the more likely you are to travel to utilize your education in a specialized career field.
So what does this have to do with population density? Most Americans never leave the population density we were raised in. Why does this matter? Because that means most Americans can’t understand or relate to the needs of those that live in population densities that differ from their own.
My friends that have been raised in cities see guns primarily as a source of violence. My friends that live rurally see guns as a necessary tool for their way of life. My friends that have been raised rurally don’t understand the need for taxes and government services, where they come from you take care of your own problems. My friends that live in cities, could not imagine a life without public utilities and governmental oversight of social problems.
Neither are wrong. Their needs and perspective are just vastly different.
I also realized that I’m probably in a small percentage of the American population. I have spent the last 20 years living more than 2500 miles from my closest family members, which puts me into the 20% category plus I was raised and lived in both high density population areas and low density population areas throughout my life.
Here’s my life by population density:
Age: 0-10 Zip: 14613 Pop Dens: 7323.5 people per sq. mi.
Age: 11-18 Zip: 14468 Pop Dens: 345 people per sq. mi.
Age: 18-22 Zip: 14850 Pop Dens: 5,722 people per sq. mi.
Age: 25-32 Zip: 92606 Pop Dens: 4,913 people per sq. mi.
Age: 33-43 Zip: 91773/91750 Pop Dens 2,163/1245 people per sq. mi.
I went to inner city schools as a young child. I was upset that my mother could not put my hair in corn rows with the pretty beads like my friends wore. I learned civil rights songs taught to me by our bi-racial music teacher and came home and sang them for my disapproving father who was raised in Shinglehouse, PA with a population density of 26.5 people per sq. mi.
Then at the age of 11 my family moved out of the city and into the country. We lived on 20+ acres of land and the population was 98% white. I didn’t walk to school anymore, heck, we didn’t really walk to our neighbor’s house because country roads don’t have sidewalks.
Then I went away to college for 4 years where I lived part of that time on the 11th floor of a tower, with a shared elevator, lobby, and I didn’t own a car. I walked everywhere, took the bus or would grab a ride from my few friends with cars if it wasn’t feasible to take public transportation.
After college I moved to Southern California. I spent my first 10 years as an adult mostly living in condos and townhomes in wealthier higher density areas, where I would say the majority leaned slightly left, but there was a fiscally conservative undertone. But I spent most weekends taking my Jeep to lower population density areas to live a life more closely to what I had on the farm growing up. Less government oversights. No one ticketing my Jeep for a few stickers as a commercial vehicle, etc.
Currently, I live in Los Angeles County, one of the highest populations in the country. But I live in one of the lowest density zip codes within that county. We have horse property and rodeos, and one of the only country bars in Southern California. Our population is almost completely split down the middle between left and right. I don’t have a sidewalk but a half a mile down the road they do. I can walk to the 7/11 and the subway around the corner but need to drive to the closest grocery store.
I’ve come to realize that just about every polarizing debate I see my friends having; I can see both sides of the argument. And I’m starting to suspect it’s because I’ve lived in both their worlds. I can relate and understand their needs and where they are coming from because I’ve experienced each of their way of life to a certain extent. Most in this country are raised one way and live that way for life. And how we want to live really comes down to the population density in which we have existed.
I truly believe our population density experience matters more to our political views than education, income, race, gender or sexuality.
As a society we are so wrapped up in left vs. right. Liberal vs. conservative. We figure out which we identify with and lump every social/political issue we agree with into “our” category, and everyone we disagree with into “their” category. I don’t see this really helping us hear each other any better. It more results in people trying to prove why they are right.
Since I’ve started considering people’s population density experiences in life (if I know them and have a reasonable idea) I have found a new filter with which to view information that is far more conducive to understanding their point of view than the filters we currently use.
Mark Twain once wrote, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
And while I think there’s some truth to that, travel in Mark Twain’s day and age is different than how we travel today. For instance, when I go to Baja, I like to stay in the small towns and eat at the local restaurants. But I have many friends that only go to all inclusive resorts, or stay in tourist areas, never venturing outside of the luxury they are there to enjoy. They don’t spend time in the rural areas seeing what life is really like. Traveling with ULTRA4 and for off road has kept me outside of most tourist areas. Where there’s only one place to stay and you have to explore local eating options. Seeing the countryside and how people live both in US and in Europe. I prefer to travel this way.
Many of us with the means to travel prefer to vacation how we live. The more rural we live day to day, the less spending a week in NYC sounds like fun. But going camping in the woods likely appeals to us. And those that live in cities, tend to not choose wilderness adventures for their downtime. The travel to help us see how other people live that existed in Twain’s time doesn’t really happen in our service oriented society where restaurants and hotels are abundant most places. We can eat at the same restaurants and sleep at the same hotels from one side of the country to the other. We’ve stopped getting outside of our own bubbles even when we travel.
I don’t know what we can do that would expose us to other ways of life like travel in Twain’s age did. But we probably need to figure it out to stop the divide from separating this country further.
From the beginning of 1900s through the Vietnam War between 7 and 9 percent of Americans were in military service. Today less than 0.5% of Americans serve in the military. That was one way that we used to expose Americans to life outside of what they grew up with. College is another way, but as costs have risen, more students continue to live at home and attend community colleges or local universities vs. leaving home to experience a different way of life between 18 and 22.
I find myself thinking about kids who go off to the army or away to college. They are forced outside their comfort zones. Some thrive there, some don’t. But they learn a different way of existing, at least for a little while. The type of travel Mark Twain is talking about. Part of me wonders if we shouldn’t offer some sort of service requirement for our youth between say 18 and 20 that requires them to get involved in something to help the country, away from where they were raised, military or civil service. If they were raised in a city, working on rural projects. If they were raised rurally, working on urban projects. Just to have a frame of reference for how diverse this country truly is and how different our needs are based on that diversity. But this is a topic for another day. You’ve already been too kind reading this far.
I don’t have the answers. But I’m glad I’ve finally put down some of the thoughts I’ve had floating around in my head regarding population density. Kudos to those of you that stuck it out.
If you’re like me and are curious about your own population density experiences, I’ve included a link in the comments where you can throw in zip codes and see what your exposure has been.
