ive scrounged the internet (well, lightly sifted through and then got bored) for a jojos bizarre adventure sexuality headcanons post that I agreed with completely and I literally could not find any so here’s my opinion that nobody asked for 😘

first up Jonathan joestar- straight ally

I think most people can agree that Jonathan is probs the straightest joestar (that I know of, I’ve read up to part 7 but I’ve heard gappy is pretty fucking straight) but yeah he’s straight

He probs doesn’t even fully understand what being not straight is but if someone he knew came out to him he would be very supportive even if he didn’t know what it rlly meant

idk if this is a hot take or not but this man did not have any sort of interest in women and was never married which if he was gay would make since back then bc being not straight wasn’t the norm lmao also there was that one scene in part 2 where Joseph was implying that speedwagon might’ve felt something more than friendship for jonathan so that’s why i think this

(I’m not gonna do dio bc his bisexuality was already confirmed by the one and only araki so that doesn’t rlly need an explanation 😭)

I was scratching my head tryna come up with a sexuality for this fucker and eventually settled for bicurious bc we all know that there was sum going on with him and caesar but also he had a wife whom he cheated on with another woman so I mean

caesar was def his awakening that he might like men but sadly the rocks smashed caesar before Joseph could 😔 also Joseph wears far too many crop tops to be straight like let’s be honest

jotaro kujo: gay demiromantic asexual (sex indifferent)

first off jotaro really does not strike me as the type to think about romantic relationships all that much and definitely does not consider anybody for a romantic relationship upon first meeting them. he needs time to feel something more than platonic. I’ve seen people say that he’s aroace which I do think could be possible but I personally think that he does want love and care wether it be platonic or romantic

asexual just makes sense for him I’m pretty sure the majority of the fandom (not including the homophobic pissbabies) can agree with this. he doesn’t understand how people can just look at someone and feel attracted to them, bro probably discovered asexuality when he saw a meme that he related to and saw the asexual hashtags in the caption bro

also he’s just gay. like there is no way that he likes anybody except men. if this bro wanted a gf he’s got plenty of hoes to choose from. But he didn’t. Also he treats his hoes like shit lmao

listen I was going to say he was gay but I changed my mind because I really can’t imagine him caring about gender all that much. he does look like a twink tho I can’t deny it

Also araki did actually confirm that kakyoin likes both men and women (he said something along the lines of “I could see kakyoin falling in love with a man” idk I’m too lazy to look up exact wording) but I mean you can take one look at this dude and be able to tell that he is both not straight and has pronouns. I mean look at him

also I’m tired of people characterizing him as the UwU pissbaby fucktoy so he’s aceflux 1. Because I said so and 2. Because it just makes sense idk how to explain it

hey! thanks for the ask!

El - unlabeled (def mostly sapphic leaning). I don’t think she’d understand ‘normal’ gender and sexuality much and would like everyone, but she’s definitely a woman liker. (and NOT a mike liker NEVER a mike liker) for her, it’s more about getting to know the person, so im also gonna say demisexual.

Max - bisexual. I don’t have as much max hcs as I do for El but yk I used to be a lumax hater for a while and now I don’t hate it (it’s not my favorite). Saying bi bc depending on the plot I can definitely be convinced into Elumax. However I think she could be lesbian too it’s just depending on the scenario for me.

If you could marry any of the R6 operators, who would It be? (You can marry one or multiple) If you had to chose a squad to be in, which one and why? And finally, out of all of the operators which ten would you chose to be you friends and why?

Oooo this is an interesting one cause there's a lot of operators that I love for real but realistically would probably not be the best to marry.

The first that comes to mind is probably Alexsandr, but then again we haven't actually ever seen his face and then my age gap is really large so hmm. While I love Kali to bits I feel like getting in an argument with her would be the worst thing in the world. Lion's super catholic and I feel like long term I wouldn't be compatible.

I think I would probably want to marry Elias, he genuially seems like someone who would just be the most compatible as a person. Hes fun, chill but caring. While he's still like almost double my age, its far better than Alex. Probably after Elias would be Jordan, again he's a chill funny guy. Both perfect husband material. Maybe Gustave, he's very down to Earth and emphatic but also realistic.

Maybe Eliza? I prefer males more with my bisexuality but I do like Eliza a lot. While she's pretty shut in at time her determination and care for her teammates is really admirable and frankly shes certainly someone I would not exactly overlook her flaws but they're not deal breakers.

Friends are a lot different and I decided to opt out the ones I would marry. Max and Tori, top of the list. Those two are so damn funny and cultural wise I feel like I could vibe with them even realistically I'm not really an active person. I would say I'd love to get to know Yumiko, she seems pretty damn cool. Grace, as someone whos into gaming I'd like to chill with her. Ooo certainly Tina, that woman is the biggest nerd in R6S and damn I'd love to hear that woman rant. Miles is always described in lore at being super chill and just great to be around so enough said.

Sam is old as balls but I think he would be a cool dad friend, he seems to be able to see things seriously but also the humour in things. Certainly would give good advice. Jack is a lil nerd and I actually have a friend similar to him. I'm into music a lot while I'm not into a huge amount of like hardcore metal like he is, I listen to a lot of Jmetal (I like a huge amount of different genres) so I think I could bond well with him on music and stuff. Marius is a hard one, he's also a super big nerd (we already know he's into Star Trek) so I imagine I would like him a bunch as a friend or just wouldn't get along with him at all. No in-between.

{ RIN, 25, EST, SHE/THEY/HE } —— look who’s joining the infinite tour! only KAZUMI 'ZUMI' TAKEUCHI, who is the BACK-UP DANCER. i’ve heard whispers that the 20-year-old is pretty FUN-LOVING but lowkey FORGETFUL. also, doesn’t she remind you of ASAYA JURIN?

kazumi was born in tokyo to a single mother, they were a middle-class family in her early life; her mother worked in animation for different anime productions. mostly small operations in the 90's and early 2000's but now works with companies like ghibli. (iconic)

zumi was a little free-spirited tomboy (it's neither man or woman!) she loved skateboarding, catching critters like bugs and frogs, listening to all types of music, visiting arcades and playing video games. she's a pro at dance dance revolution! and just dance.

when she entered junior high, zumi joined the cheerleading team and started hip-hop dance lessons after school. she's was pretty good in school, she had a lot of support from her mother and she actually enjoyed most of her classes. (fuck math tbh!) she was good in physical education, history and science.

the older she got, the more she leaned into dancing; using it as a way to express herself and her emotions. kazumi is very fluid movement-wise and expressive of the mood of the songs, she has decent stage presence as well; she looks up to dancer positions a lot like taemin, hyoyeon, jongin, seulgi, jhope, hyuna, moonbyul and chungha.

she started learning korean due to her love for kpop, she's definitely a fangirl; she genuinely loves the music she gets to dance with! her mother supported her dreams, she was once a young artist with a dream; she knew zumi was going to be successful.

zumi struggles with depression and self-image but she's really... reserved about it; she doesn't open up to just anyone. she's on a cocktail of pills but they help her function better so she doesn't complain about it.

recreationally, she smokes. it's been helpful for her mental health but also it's fun so why not? she's a gamer. #poggers oh - she still skateboards and uses it as her main form of transportation since she now lives in downtown seoul. it's easier than storing a car and more enjoyable than riding a bike, in her opinion - of course.

her red flags are that she will forget your birthday, she's a bad influence like do not ask for her advice, she's self-indulgent and she has a temper, to be honest. she will also forget to turn off the oven or blow out a candle so you do not need to be her roommate, lol. (zumi is def chaotic good!)

uhm - random fact time? she has some body modifications like piercings and tattoos. unfortunately, she takes them out or covers them most of the time due to tv policies. she used to run stan accounts and she used to post dance covers but they are all deleted or unlisted now because they are embarrassing. her first concert was britney spears, lol. she identifies as bisexual and is fluid when it comes to her romantic orientation and own gender. she collects plush animals of all types and has a photocard collection of 2nd and 3rd-generation groups. she also learned english with animated western movies and youtube videos! she loves to spoil her dance team and other coworkers with homemade treats, and she often brings meals or snacks for the breakrooms; she gets most of her recipes from tik tok - lol. she's been diagnosed as neurodivergent.

because i really really like hikaharukao but my view on it is?? so complicated. because okay. i do not like hikaharu. i've made a long ass rant before on why i (respectfully) do not like it and thing narratively they're better as friends. i def get why people like it it's just not for me. and also besides not liking it for Narrative reasons I'm also petty and don't like it on the basis this kinda makes Kaoru alone kjdbehjfbreh (it's anime i'm allowed to be petty) (which is funny because i like kaoharu???? fuck hikaru i guess)

ANYWAYS hikaharukao....... so. ok it's not secret i love hikakao and i've already said i like kaoharu. so let me try to explain how i think hikaharukao works.

Firstly my headcanons for the characters' sexualities n stuff play a big role in this. Haruhi is bisexual/placiosexual + grayromantic, Kaoru is biromantic homosexula, and Hikaru is homoromantic bisexual.

So, the best way I can put it is they are all qpps who fuck sometimes. but like. its mostly hikaru and kaoru doing Unholy things and haruhi is just There sometimes but not really In It (because I headcanon she doesn't like being touched in most cases). she contributes sometimes but it's very hands-off. or at least she'll touch them but they are not allowed to touch her.

as per my headcanon Hikaru is into her sexually but not really romantically and vice versa for Kaoru. altho haruhi is barely a woman as much as she is a man so it gets a Little Confusing there. But it usually goes by those rules.

yeah best way I can put it is that they are a group of bestiiiies with benefits sorta. i dont think they call each other bf/gf so they are mistaken as friends as often as they are lovers. im sure half of the strangers outside of ouran school who know them Haruhi is just dating One Dude who has a wildly different personality depending on the day you catch him.

you could also view this as a "kaoharu + hikakao they are just sharing kaoru" which i think is true in a way. i mean if you throw in a massive hikaharu brotp in there so it's like kaoru/haruhi half-dating, hikaru/haruhi besties, hikaru/kaoru my lawyer has advised me not to say anything further.

but as said haruhi is grayromantic so like she isn't really DATING either of them. it's weird. like i said just a group of bestiiies <3 (also i have a complicated viewing on hikakao in general too so i dont think THEYRE dating either. like this is just "normal" to them)

now you may say "noxia you sound insane" and "noxia what do these labels mean" and also "noxia did i mention you're insane" and yes yes i know. but listen. i have no clue how else to explain it. all i know is i like hikakao but i wish haruhi was there sometimes. also i think haruhi has a great dynamic with both twins and they would watch cinderella together :) kaoru is talking at 100mph and hikaru and haruhi are leaning backwards to blink morse code at each other. they go to the mall later and hikaru and kaoru are fucking it up and haruhi must reign them in like they are dogs. kaoru and haruhi having a very chill thoughtful discussion about some book they read in a bookstore and then hikaru rounds the corner with "they have EVERY warrior cat book here" and kaoru and haruhi are like "omg every single one ?" this is how i view them.

Gender and Sexuality headcannons for Infinity Train passangers and Hazel.

(I’ll make a seperate posts for just the photos but if you want to read about the why behind them, click down below for more)

Tulip Olsen:

Gender wise, I think Tulip is a demigirl. The definition (according to google) is "A gender identity term for someone who was assigned female at birth but does not fully identify with being a woman, socially or mentally." For some reason, while I was doing this--it just felt like Tulip. She identifies as a girl, uses the pronouns and seems happy as one--but she seems like the kind of person to not really fit with other women in a certain way, if that makes sense.

Sexuality wise, I'll be honest. I think Tulip is an aromantic. And I don't just mean because she never had a potential love interest or human friend on the train. Her little road trip song? "No romance, no romance, no romance for me mamma." Plus, check the colors match, I rest my case.

Lake:

Okay this one is easy and I don't even think there will be any arguments or debate about this one. The evidence is all there. Cutting off hair, wearing more masculine/androgynous clothing, wanting to be your own person, changing their name to a NOUN to signify their new life, not wanting to be put into boxes? Lake is a she/her and they/them (mostly the later after escaping the train) non-binary and pansexual. It's just the facts.

Jesse Casay:

For Jesse, I believe that he is trans. Why? Most of book 2 was about Lake's journey to discover who they are and get off the train, but Jesse was still their because of his own lessons he had to learn. He was a people pleaser and never stood up for himself and did what he thought would make people like him more. He also makes his little brother partake in his 'friends' ritual of a 'manhood test' where they shove him down a hill and he breaks his arm--it feels like he was in a way, overcompensating. It seems like he's such a people pleaser and conformist because he doesn't want to give others a chance to dismiss him for who he is.

I also think he is pansexual. No deep meaning--I just honest to god think he truly does like EVERYONE.

Grace Monroe:

Her parents didn't seem like the type to pay attention to their daughter already, and give off 'rich black republican' energy which clues me in on 2 things.

Her parents would not care enough to use Grace's pronouns if she were trans, so I do believe she is cisgender.

Her parents wouldn't even notice that she's a lesbian, and if they did she definitely wasn't allowed to act on those feelings. Probably why she has a hard time interacting with other girls her age and why she sees Simon as just a friend, despite all the tools there for them to have been together.

Simon Laurent:

Look this isn't even me doing the whole 'haha, the bad guy is the cishet, cis-het white men are icky' thing. Literally, name one thing about Simon that could be queer-coded. You could argue he was deep DEEP in the closet I guess--but I just got straight and cisgender vibes from him.

Hazel:

Now stay with me on this one. Stay with me here. This is not because Hazel is a denizen. But I believe Hazel is an intersex child that uses she/her pronouns is aromantic. Hazel is only 6 (or so she says) and it's a bit hard to argue sexuality for someone who's both very young and probably hasn't even had their first crush yet. But gender wise--I think intersex works. Not only does Hazel remind me of Stevonnie (a cannon intersex character) but her whole character is her trying to figure out 'what' she is and how she doesn't completley belong anywhere. She was most comfortable with Tuba, another denizen like her, but even Hazel was 'different' from her and was caught between 2 worlds--and she didn't want to choose. She's just Hazel.

Amelia Hughes:

Super easy here. Amelia gives off bi-wife energy and distinguished bi energy where ever she goes. She just--I can't explain it but she isn't straight for sure. You could argue she leans closer to men because of marrying Alrick but proposing to a man during that time period?? Not the traditional cis-het womanly thing to do. Also--come on. Y'all know. Y'all KNOW.

Min-Gi Park:

Book 4 was just "this is for the mlm" personified. Book 2 was for the trans/enby folk, but book 4 was for the gays. Min-Gi is the personification of 'in the closet but in love with my best friend' to the 9's. The reason he gets off the train is because he finally accepts that he doesn't want to fit the status quo, he wants to be with Ryan and outright says he won't LEAVE the train without Ryan--who was currently still at 202-- while he was at 0. That is the GAYEST shit I ever saw. He's def not out to anyone yet, but he checks off those boxes alright.

Ryan Akagi:

Do I need to explain?? Do I REALLY need to explain? I will. Ryan is a neurodivergent, rocker teen who drives a van across the country in the 80's and wants his childhood best friend to come back and reform their band. He uses the t-shirt said best friend made for him as a headband and keeps it for years after they spilt apart. He has a rockin fashion sense, definitely loves the ladies (he unironically flirted with a cat and had multiple girlfriends) but also is in love with his best friend. Hell--he FITS the red-blue soulmate trope--he is literally a rebel without a cause and doesn't seem to fit anywhere but with his best friend and band partner--

STAR- star is interesting. She's spent a while[2-3 months maybe?] with the boys, so I assume she picked up on some mind fucking tactics. I think Star can and will manipulate people. But not with vampire hypnosis, just plain ol' Gass lighting or manipulation.

That being said, I don't think she's a very angry person. I think shes calm and welcoming. But, will manipulate you to do the " right" thing, or to set you on what she deems the right path.

A ship I have with said character: Bangalore. If you follow me, Voidstrike is my absolute OTP. I have so much to say about this ship but you can look through my history and fics to see all that.

A BROTP I have with said character: Bloodhound - I HC that Wraith is a HUGE fan of BH and she tried very hard not to openly fangirl over them when she first met them. She watched ALL of their qualifying matches. Mirage - He’s like that really fucking annoying best friend that you lovingly can’t stand but can’t hate (because you love them for brightening your day). But god he can be insufferable sometimes.

Path - Because canon.

Wattson - Treats Natalie like a younger sister. She knows the young woman can take care of herself, but she has no family left and Wraith knows how that feels now. Wraith isn’t great at being openly emotional, but she tries to be warm towards Nat.

Bangalore - Enemies to friends to lovers trope. Even tho I ship them as OTP, I still see them as two people who grew close over time amidst the “rivalry” and competitive shit-talking between them. They are very close friends who help each other grow, even if people around them think they hate each other.

A NOTP I have with said character: Wattson - Yeah not sorry, I do not ship these two sexually/romantically for a variety of reasons.

Mirage - Just...no lmfao.

A random headcanon: When she relaxes at home, she sits on the couch with some ice cream and watches.... anime. Yes, I HC her as a gigantic fucking anime nerd. She’s always caught up on the best shows of the season and sometimes she watches them with Nat (she got Nat into some series). Bangalore def makes fun of her for it, even if she ends up on the couch watching a couple episodes because Wraith can be VERY persuasive. I COULD go further and say that she and the above BROTP Legends might have days where she can convince them to spend a couple hours starting a new show.

Oh boy, this is going to be spicy.

It’s also very Anders-negative, so apologies up front.

The character(s) I first fell in love with:

I’m actually not sure which was the FIRST, but it’s a tie between Morrigan and Alistair. I saw fanart of them going around at the time Origins first released, and that’s what got me to try the game!

Alistair was a breath of fresh air, because at the time, I was used to warrior men in games being all Edgy and Rough, and he was the total opposite and a sweetheart.

And Morrigan was just instantly my goth wife, and had Claudia Black as a VA, so I was sold immediately.

Both still hold a special place for me!

The character(s) I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Loghain is the main one. He does a lot of truly reprehensible shit in the first game. But once I sat down and read the prequel novels about young Loghain, plus saw what he’s like if you recruit him, he grew on me A LOT and now he’s a top fave.

Nathaniel I expected to hate as soon as I saw his name + who his father was, but then the expansion came out and I ended up loving that dude almost immediately. I really wish he was around more after Awakening, and also really wish he’d been a romance option, especially for a Cousland haha.

Merrill is a weird one because she was totally uninteresting to me in DA:O, so when they announced her as a companion in DA2 I was like, “Ehhhh.” Then they punked me by making her adorable and sweet and now I love her.

Plus a bunch of side-characters like The Architect? I liked him a bunch in the novel + Awakening – although I found his Plan in the novel much more appealing. But as the years have gone by, I keep surprising myself at just HOW disappointed I am he’s never appeared again haha.

The character(s) everyone else loves that I don’t:

There’s a few, and all of them will get me yelled at, but here we go.

First: Isabela. This one’s a bit complicated, but it really just boils down to her attitude towards how you play your character. I actively dislike characters who are super sexual – regardless of gender. But Isabela in particular bothers me because she’s constantly pushing her lewdness and sexual humor on you, and when you try to discourage it, she admonishes you with, “Well, you’re no fun.” Her whole character is just… like that for me. Super pushy, overly lewd, gets uppity when you don’t have the same ~liberated~ opinions she does, and this is all played up in the writing like she’s this Empowered Woman the player absolutely must love, especially if they’re playing a male character lol. I hate her for the same reasons a lot of people hate Liara in Mass Effect, but with the addition of pushy lewd jokey characters always rubbing me the wrong way.

Second: Iron Bull. I’ve written a lot about why he makes me more uncomfortable than any fictional character I’ve ever encountered, and I just outright hate him, he makes my skin crawl. If you want details, feel free to DM me, I don’t really want to rant about it again publicly.

Third: Anders. Again, I’ve written a lot about him before, but. I hated him in Awakening, for a lot of the same reasons I hate Isabela in DA2. But the changes they made to him in DA2 are just kinda :/. While I absolutely agree with him about Mage Rights, the level of preachiness they added to him drove me nuts, and the fact that you’re painted as a Bad Guy if you don’t like him blowing up the chantry. And from a purely OOC standpoint: He’s become a figurehead for all the aggressive Discourse people in the fandom, and if I see someone list Anders in their sidebar bio, I know pre-emptively that their blog is going to be full of 6 page long essays of meta about how everything is Problematic, and no thanks.

To a lesser extent, I’m also not fond of Zevran. But in his case, it’s not anything major like the others, I’m just tired of Bioware’s habit of making the bisexual characters overly lewd sex-focused rogues/deviants.

The character(s) I love that everyone else hates:

Loghain, lol.

But also Sebastian Vael? There’s so much about him that I find genuinely fascinating, especially regarding his backstory, and his struggles between his feelings of responsibility to his family vs his dedication to the Chantry and bettering himself. He’s such a dear character to me, and such a pivotal part of any playthrough, I’m always blown away when I remember he’s a DLC character and many people don’t have him.

HOWEVER Anders being the fandom darling means that people tend to unfairly shit on Sebastian for reacting poorly to the Chantry explosion. People also like to label him as a poster child of a White Straight Church Boy, while refusing to acknowledge he’s… not straight, and not exactly a church boy either lol.

Also Vivienne, but I think that one’s really self-explanatory. I love her, and she gives a really needed perspective on the Circle, since most of the mage companions previously were apostates. But of course, she gets written off as a Chantry apologist, and an uppity bitch, when people would def love her for the same traits if she was not black lol.

The character(s) I used to love but don’t any longer:

Justice. And by extension, Anders. A lot of people like to rant about how Justice ruined Anders, but I always saw it the other way around.Justice was my favorite character in Awakening. The whole concept around him, that he was a Fade spirit who took human form and was experiencing life for the first time was SO fascinating. I felt like there was so much to explore there with his character.

Buuuut then they had him merge with Anders. With the narrative being that he WAS a spirit of Justice, but the moment he connected with Anders, it corrupted his entire spirit into something he wasn’t anymore. So essentially, the character I used to love no longer exists, thanks to Anders. And it reminds me of that phrase recently, about how the destination is so terrible you can no longer enjoy the journey? I can’t even appreciate Justice in Awakening anymore, knowing what happens to him.

To a lesser extent, Corypheus. He was SO COOL and the premise of him was AMAZING when he first appeared in the DA2 DLC, but then Inquisition had to go and turn him into a weird shallow mustache twirl villain.

The character(s) I would totally smooch:

None? Idk I don’t really have the Smooch Fictional Character gene.

The character(s) I’d want to be like:

MAEVARIS TILANI. May I one day finally have the confidence in my identity that she does, and also marry a sweet bear man who adores me.

The character(s) I’d slap:

Too many to list, really. Probably Anders.

The pairing(s) that I love:

THERE’S SO MANY. And most of them are with the PC, because I generally don’t ship NPCs together. But my top 3 are:

M!Hawke / Fenris is my ultimate OTP in the Dragon Age series, by a long-shot. Not even sure where to start on how much I love it, but two damaged guys leaning on each other to work through their respective loneliness and trauma is MY JAM. And lmao I love silver-sideburned Hawke chillin in retirement somewhere but being a supportive husband while Fenris goes off hunting the Bad Guys, it’s great.

Solas / Lavellan is a close second, with the caveat that I increasingly prefer it with a male Lavellan. Having the Inquisitor in love with Solas just changes the entire tone of the game for me, for the better, and him actually being the villain trying to end the world while in love with this normie elf is just (chef kiss). Too bad I’m burned out by how overly spammed it is.

Dorian / Inquisitor is in third, I will just always be fond of how it’s a story of the Inquisitor helping Dorian be happy with who he is, escape an abusive family, and realize that he’s allowed to be loved. Good shit good shit.

Some others:

Warden / Morrigan is probably my favorite Origins ship, and that only intensified with the way she talks about the Warden in Inquisition, esp if they’re Kieran’s other parent. What a cute goth family, regardless of the Warden’s gender, cause you can pry Bi Morrigan from my cold dead fingers.

Cassandra / Inquisitor might have a lot of Romance Cliches, but I adore it – although, similar others, I increasingly prefer it with a female Inquisitor. I actively dislike the weird no-homo rejection with her, and come on, a lady Inquisitor being her Knight In Shining Armor is just good storytelling.

Cullen / Inquisitor, for a lot of the same reasons as Cassandra. I love me a cliche romance, but I’m also fond of the narrative w/ him of someone he loves helping him heal through the lyrium withdrawals and take time to rest.

Josephine / F!Inquisitor is just adorable all around, and wholesome, and great.

Varric / Hawke COME ON HOW WAS THIS NOT AN OPTION.

On the rarepair end:

Sebastian / Hawke doesn’t seem like it would be a rarepair – you’d think everyone who loves Cullen/Inquisitor would love this one too. I do! But alas. That said, I’m also pretty aggro about this one with a male Hawke because SEBASTIAN IS CANON BI. WHY WAS HIS ROMANCE STRAIGHT.

Maric / Loghain is a rarepair I will take with me to my grave LOL. Never forget the scene where Maric thought Loghain was leaving, and bolted across the camp with almost no clothes on to beg Loghain to stay. Come on.

Nathaniel / Cousland is dear to me, and I love it so much more than Alistair / Cousland haha.

Greagoir / Wynne, I can’t believe this got validated in canon ahhhh.

The pairing(s) that I despise:

Again: THERE’S SO MANY.

Iron Bull / Dorian is my least fave by a longshot. Again, I have written about why I hate this pairing a great many times, but it’s awful and toxic and makes me deeply uncomfortable, and I could happily go the rest of my life without seeing anything about it ever again. Please keep poor Dorian away from that man. He deserves someone that doesn’t sexually harass him until he’s finally worn down into dubious consent (while drunk) and then outted to everyone about it.

Isabela / Fenris. Sorry, but it’s just bad writing that Fenris bails on Hawke because the physical intimacy triggered his PTSD and he needs space to process, but then will turn around and have a casual sex relationship with Isabela instead. Yikes.

Anders / Fenris. Aveline / Isabela. Alistair / Morrigan. All of the DA2 Hawke/companion rivalmances. I don’t enjoy “these two people hate and antagonize and want to kill each other… but they fuck” in any form.

Cullen / Amell. Yikes.

And basically ALL of the canon wlw pairings in this series suffer from the fact they have men writing them, and as a result they’re almost always some kind of abusive or racist, and skeeve me out. See: Celene / Briala, Leliana / Marjolaine, Branka / Hespith, etc. Please Bioware, I’m begging you to consult some actual queer women. It’s insane how badly they’re treated compared to how the canon mlm couples are written.

FINALLY, I recognize this will be the most unpopular of all, but. As much as I love M!Hawke/Fenris, I just honestly cannot stand seeing F!Hawke/Fenris. There are some pairings where I’m so attached to the m/m or f/f version, I cannot deal with the m/f version anymore, and that’s one of them. (The others are mainly non-Bioware.)

Sappho never wrote love poems to men.... i'm not saying that she can't be bi but claiming that she definitely isnt a lesbian IS lesbophobic in the same way that claiming that she definitely wasn't bi is biphobic. There are strong arguments for both sides and personally I think she was a lesbian because a lot of the stuff I read claiming she was bi was written by male scholars whose articles are weirdly fettishy and they heavily distort what they claim are "love" poems. I am bisexual myself.

I was under the impression that she wrote love poems to both men and women but I had never done any research myself which I probably should have done before writing that post.

But I also agree, designating a historical figure like that as def bi or def gay is tricky, and from the reading I just did it does seem like she could be either, but it’s hard to know given the nature of translation(And who does the translating, such as these creepy guys you mention) and how much of her work has been lost. It does seem that the surviving works do lean heavily lesbian, so while we will never really know if she was bi or gay, I def don’t think you’re wrong to say that she was likely a lesbian.

I never really wanted to say that lesbians should give up Sappho, I think it’s amazing that there was an author out there who was very clearly a woman who loves women, and I do think that love can apply to both lesbians and other wlw. I mean I just read a few of her poems and I gotta say I can relate. The post just came from a place of misinformation, sleep deprivation, and saltiness at bi erasure.

So thank you for correcting me and prompting me to do my own reading, and I appreciate you being civil about it! I’ll make sure to be more informed before I make a post like that in the future.(And I’m probably gonna go read a bunch of her poetry cuz what I just read was kinda amazing I need more of this.)

Maybe I'm wrong, but one of the reasons why I can't see Flint as bi is this: "My relationship with her is a complex one that it's hard for me to understand at times." If he loves her romantically and sexually, there is nothing "hard to understand" about it. But if he's gay and in love with her husband, but loves her too bc she's a lot of things to him ("first and before all, I was mother"), and she loves him and her husband in the same unconventional way, now THAT'S complex.

I mean, listen, Nonnie.

I know I made that post a while back abt why it’s a-ok to call Flint gay. That’s bc I think it IS a-ok and bc that case can absolutely be made based on the source material, plus the creators/actors seem to agree, and I’m kinda sick of ppl demonizing the fandom for its horrible bi erasure, when I think it’s really not that simple for once. (It’s def a problem in general media/fandom culture, yes. Saying this as a bisexual woman. But BS is deliberately ambiguous on strictly labeling a whole bunch of relationships and I think that’s lovely and messy too, bc it’s not just lazy writing but actually purposeful in this case.)

BUT.

If you’re looking for an opinion that falls clearly on one side (bi or gay), I’m not going to be much help, bc mine doesn’t. Some days I lean towards bi, some days gay. Mostly gay, I think, but I keep flip-flopping. I think a perfectly reasonable case can be made for both. (And I feel the same re: Anne Bonny, come at me.) And I hold both in my head at the same time. Watching two points in space. To me it’s purely a matter of interpretation, not willful erasure of one side or the other.

Regarding my own thoughts, it’s Schrödinger’s Gay/Bi Flint up in here, ok?

Flint’s relationship w Miranda being “complex” doesn’t preclude him being genuinely attracted to her, there’s a shit ton of stuff mixed up in there that complicates things. Plus in his dreams of her, she also calls herself “wife” - so he on some subconscious level thinks of her as his wife. AND his mother. AND his mistress. She occupies a lot of spaces in his life that would have been filled by different women otherwise, but from what we can tell, he never had much of a lasting female presence in his life before her, so. This is the Gordian knot I’ll forever keep picking at, and I love how beautiful, messy and ambiguous it is!

Tldr; as long as Flint remains as wonderfully complex and queer as he is, I have no trouble whatsoever accepting him as either gay or bi.

365 Days of Writing 2017 - Day 9

From the moment she had first laid eyes on the muscular Russian woman, she had known she was in love. Mei understood her body’s reactions enough to know that there was lust there too, but under that was the warmth that she could only describe as love. Zarya was hard muscle and soft heart, strength and kindness. She was a force to be reckoned with and she took over a room when she stepped into it. She had her own gravitational pull, tugging everyone to her. Her loud laugh was warm, friendly, able to pull even the biggest loner in and soothe even the worst of moods.

Mei, however, kept herself away from Zarya for as long as she was able, distancing herself from the Russian soldier. She was sure that Zarya could not return her feelings. Mostly because she wasn’t sure if Zarya was a lesbian or straight or bisexual or interested, basically. Secondly because… Well, Zarya was beautiful. Why would she show any interest in Mei, with her short, plump stature? Mei didn’t often have self-esteem issues, but when put next to someone like Zarya…

Mei finished gathering up her late-night snack supplies, research on something or another keeping her up for longer than she had planned (try all night. What was sleep when you were close to a breakthrough?), which only served to make her hungry. There was some sleepiness in there, but she was so close. Mei turned to leave the kitchen only to nearly drop her bowl. Zarya had just walked into kitchen in a pair of shorts that clung to her thighs in ways that Mei could only hope she would one day. She wore a sports bra and had a towel around her neck, and Mei saw every single muscle in high def, sweat glistening off them. Mei felt her glasses fogging up as her face heated up and shoved them abruptly up her nose, trying to move quickly past Zarya.

“Good morning, Mei,” Zarya greeted, her voice softer than Mei had ever heard it before. She paused, looking at the Russian woman and smiling with more confidence than she felt.

“Good morning, Zarya!”

“May I ask you a question?” Zarya asked, her accent a little thicker as she frowned. Mei shifted nervously, but nodded. “Why do you run from me? You do not stay long when I enter a room. Have I done something?” Mei blinked and put her treat on the counter, shaking her head and waving her hands.

“No! No, of course not! It has nothing to do with you, Zarya. You are kind and wonderful and perfect. I didn’t mean to make you think… I’m sorry.” Zarya smiled slightly, but it didn’t quite fill her face the way her usual smiles did.

“Then… why do you avoid me?” Mei looked down a little at Zarya’s question, the obvious follow up making her think. Honesty was probably best in this situation, but how honest did she want to be…? While Mei was thinking this over, Zarya had moved on surprisingly quiet feet and gently used one finger to tilt Mei’s chin up. Mei’s body started in surprise, but her head followed Zarya’s command, lifting to look at the Russian. Zarya was very close, making Mei’s cheeks heat.

“I-I… I didn’t… think you would like me…” she whispered. Zarya smiled slightly.

“I like you very much,” Zarya corrected, her hand shifting slightly to brush her thumb against Mei’s lips. “I would like very much to kiss you. Is that alright?”

“Please,” Mei whispered. Zarya’s smile grew as she leaned in, pressing her lips against Mei’s. Mei sighed, her arms moving, hands barely touching the muscles of Zarya’s arm. The kiss was short, gentle, sweet, but it left Mei wanting more as Zarya pulled away. The two looked at one another, Mei flushed, Zarya smiling with confidence, something that only made her sexier.

“Your ice cream is going to melt,” Zarya said, her voice soft. Mei blushed brightly and grabbed it, hugging it close to her. “You can eat it in my room, if you would like to continue our conversation.” Mei’s head bobbed in a nod and she followed closely as Zarya led her out of the kitchen and down the hall.
