After all that has been said and done about the finale, and I've had time to dwell on it a bit more, I think I have identified what bothered me the most about the Loki series, despite having actually loved it till episode 3. (I still love those episodes, and bits of the other ones.)

So, the thing is, when the series promo began, the creators were very vocal about how they'd explore Loki's genderfluidity, how he'd learn to love himself and forgive himself to start anew, how the show wouldn't have romance because Loki is not ready for it, etc. Tom himself covered these things in the few interviews that I did watch. (I'm not big on watching interviews, otherwise.)

At the end, we neither got genderfluidity, nor the self love (Loki still doesn't love himself, it's more at self reflection right now, and that too, in ways I don't agree with, but I digress), and instead we got the very shoehorned romance forced on us (sylki shippers excepted). Yay for amatonormativity. /Sarcasm.

What bothered me the most was the constant, blatant lying in the promo interviews. Not so much the actual material of the show, but the misdirections.

It was all so unnecessary and unneeded. They could've simply not mentioned these things and moved on. They could've said that the Loki series may hint at a romance. Or just plain refused to answer because SPOILER! That way, we the audience would've known that there was a possibility for it.i

Instead, they answered these questions with lies. They deliberately chose to talk about these issues as though they cared about them. Only to do the opposite in the end.

That's what hurt me the most. And well, took out my trust in them, especially Tom. (Look, don't come at for hating Tom. This is not me hating him. This is me expressing disappointment. I'm not attacking him. I'm simply criticizing him, which I'm allowed to do on my blog ok.) I remember him joking about how Loki needed to love himself first before thinking of romance, when he was asked if the series might have romance. Just...why? 😒

This kind of misdirection didn't happen in other shows' promo, mind you. And I respect the showrunners and actors therein for not lying to us. It shows us that promo can be done without taking the audience for granted, without disrespecting them with baity catchphrases and denial.

Even the trailers were extremely misleading, to the point of having most their footage not show up in the show. The trailers were edited in a very misleading way. TBH, I actually can't recall seeing such thoroughly edited trailers before. I knew Marvel wasn't honest in their trailers, but the Loki series trailers were on another level entirely.

This is mainly why I feel like I watched something else entirely, rather than what was promoted and marketed by the whole team. They didn't have to do it like this. Loki was already an extremely popular character, people were already keen to watch it. So then why?

I don't know why. We may never know. But it hurt me, and others like me. Because I trusted these people to deliver on their word, and they didn't.

Disclaimer: I don't hate these people. I'm simply expressing my feelings here, because I somehow have to get the disappointment of it out of my system. That's all.

A few examples of commissioned videos I made for lovely folks: Taron Egerton BD video, Loki/Tony Stark character study video, Tony Stark & Bruce Wayne au, and the continuation of this series, Merlin, Steve/Bucky reincarnation AU, Bucky Barnes character study, Band Of Brothers, besides that I’ve edited a bunch of personal home videos/Birthday wishes videos/trailers for fics that I haven’t posted on my own YT channel (for obvious reasons).

I’m charging ~

30$ for every 30 seconds

of a video. The price is negotiable, depending on what kind of video/fandom you want (e.g.a Supernatural video would cost more than a video for a movie, because I would have to go through 15 seasons of footage rather than just a two hour movie, you get the idea).

So far I’ve made videos for Supernatural, Captain America/MCU, Sherlock BBC, Doctor Who, Merlin, Elementary, White Collar, Daredevil, Kings, Teen Wolf, The Umbrella Academy, Altered Carbon, many other tv shows/pairings, and a bunch of different movies. I’m willing to try new things, though it might take me some time to watch a tv show/movie if I’m not familiar with it.

I’ve made general videos, character studies, trailers for fics (fun times!), a couple of crack videos (though let’s face it: blood and tears and general misery is my jam), promo videos, you name it.

It is the first trailer, the movie isn't even completely edited!!!!!

Marvel has been reminding us, CONSTANTLY, that the focus will be on the Original Avengers team: Ironman, Cap, BW, Hawkeye, Thor, Hulk. They’ve even said that NO ONE ELSE will be part of the promo run (which I doubt, we will probably see more people around, but...) So having Tony’s monologue, Natasha and Steve talking about a “plan”, Natasha finding Clint, Thor mourning (?) and Bruce doing- whatever he was doing... it makes sense. It gives the focus back to them, which is what they want at the moment. (with appearances by Nebula and Scott, who I hope will come save the day)

YES, I miss Loki as much as the rest of you, people. But read point 2 again. LOKI IS CURRENTLY DEAD. Human trash, Joe Russo rubbed it in our faces earlier this week for the 1209458209520th time, along with a very tasteful and mature comment about our tears being sweet. Did you really expect Loki to be there? I would’ve liked him to be there, but NO, I wasn’t expecting it. In fact I’m not expecting him to be in ANY trailer, unless they show flashbacks to the NY Chitauri Invasion.

Loki might be currently dead, but we also know HE WILL COME BACK. So hold on to your panties until after the movie is out. (so you can throw them at Tom)

“Plot holes” - IT’S A FUCKING TRAILER!!! I think we will all be happier if we lower our expectations. We’ve been through this time and time again. MARVEL WILL NOT DELIVER. It’s better to think that way and be amazed than to go with high hopes and end up disappointed.

We know Tony is not going to die, we know the Russos said they still have plans for Steve, we know the dusted ones are coming back (there are movies planned for Spiderman, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, GotG and Black Widow, as well as tv series for Bucky/Falcon, Wanda/Vision and Loki), we know Cap Marvel will somehow be tied into this (she’s not in the trailer either, and I doubt she will be until her movie comes out). IDK what will they do with Thor (CH’s contract ends with this one, and I surely hope he doesn't have anything to do with the Loki series), but at this point, I just want some closure for him and Loki.

I will go see it for the sake of continuity and because i wanna see how, and if, they fix the mess that was IW.
