A/N: This is a continuation of this double fake dating au, because apparently my brain hasn’t finished rotating this idea yet. This is a very silly au, and gets sillier by the day. Again, I have no idea how far I’ll continue this, but for now: enjoy!
x
Baron Humbert von Gikkingen's life was falling apart, and it was all because his sister had decided to get married.
Or, to be exact, she had decided to get married a week before their midsummer family reunion, and not given him a heads up. He hadn't even discovered his apparent newfound status as a brother-in-law from Louise herself; the truth only coming to light from a letter from his Great Aunt Gertrude, proclaiming the 'good' news and wondering why he hadn't settled down yet with a nice lady/gent.
He tried to be happy for his sister. And he almost succeeded. But beneath it all was the immovable truth that where there had once been two eligible von Gikkingen heirs, there was now only one, and so the eyes of all social-climbers would be on him. (And if he was lucky, that's all they'd get on him.)
He had no choice. Time to fake his death and move to the Dog Kingdom.
In a stroke of fate, or luck, or (more accurately) mere procrastination, he decided to clear his head with a walk about town and hope for inspiration to strike. (Or, if inspiration failed, then possibly an anvil.)
"C'mon, Muta, you know you've always been like a father figure to me..."
Baron paused, gloved hand over the door-handle to one of his favourite haunts, a small antique shop.
"Nice try, Chicky," came the gruff tone of the owner, "but you're more the troublesome niece."
"It would only be for a month!"
"Chicky, I ain't adopting you just so you can keep yer job. I'll just wire you the money to the Human World until this all breezes over."
"You can't afford that, Muta."
"Then we'll hide yer here until the decree gets dropped. Don't need to tell the palace you're still working."
"That's illegal, Muta."
"Only for a month."
Deciding to enter the conversation before his eavesdropping was discovered at a less opportune moment, Baron let himself into the antique store. He could have walked on by, but... well, he'd always had a habit of sticking his nose in other people's business. He became the immediate focus of the two occupants, one a large white Cat, and the other a Human woman. Both faces split into grins, as if they hadn't just been discussing legalities.
“Don’t mind me,” Baron greeted cheerfully. “I’m just browsing.”
As he turned his attention to the corridor (more reminiscent of an alleyway, really) crowded with old books, he heard the shop’s owner and assistant continue their discussion in carefully muted tones.
“Well then, Chicky, guess you’d better get used to rainy days, ‘cause I can’t see what other choice you have.”
“There must be something–”
“There is, but you’ve already shot down my idea–”
“Breaking the law is not an idea–”
“But it’s a stupid law and you know it!”
Baron popped his head back around the bookshelf. “I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help overhearing. What seems to be amiss?”
The Human assistant, Haru, exchanged glances with Muta. She was currently perched on an old trunk, despite the owner’s previous allegation of an abundance of chairs.
“The latest royal decree,” Haru said.
Baron passed his mind over the most recent bout of news to make its way from the palace. “No pink on a Monday?” he offered dubiously.
“No. The, uh” and she motioned weakly to nothing in particular, “the one about only Cats and Cats-through-family being allowed to reside in the Cat Kingdom.”
“Oh,” Baron said. Then after some consideration, he added, “I’m sorry to hear that. Is there nothing to be done?”
“Well, I could get adopted into a Cat family–” she began.
“Trust me, you don’t want to caught up in my family,” Muta retorted.
“For one month!”
“I’d have to find my paperwork, and Bastet knows it’ll be a month before I find it–”
“Or,” Haru continued, “get very quickly married.”
“Also out of the picture, for the same reason and then some,” Muta said.
Baron paused. In the back of his mind, but not so far back as it really should have been, a crazy idea took place. He needed a way to attend his family gathering without multiple social-climbing guests making their presence his problem, and Haru evidently needed a way to stay in the Cat Kingdom.
“Only for a month, you said?” he asked.
Haru rolled her eyes. “The palace advisor I spoke to seemed to imply that the decree’ll only last that long. Unfortunately, it’s still too long for me.”
The idea shoved its way to the front of the queue. Somehow, he found himself saying, “I hope this isn’t insultingly forward of me, but I think I might just have a solution...”

Pro Wrestling Illustrated : APRIL 1996
close-up: THE KID
Part 2
Transcript Below!!!
At 6’2” and 212 pounds, The Kid hardly looks like the typical professional wrestler … But he isn’t typical: the six year veteran is a high-flying, high-risk, aerial artist who has scored several shocking upsets simply because he’s willing to take chances … Spent most of his early years competing for Minneapolis-based Pro Wrestling America … As The Lightning Kid, he won the PWA light heavyweight title in both 1990 and 1991 … He also held the PWA tag team title (with Jerry Lynn) and the PWA TV title … Moved to texas and won the Global Wrestling Federation junior heavyweight title twice in the second half of ‘91 … Later accepted an offer to wrestle in Japan and battled such superstars as Jushin Liger, El Samurai, Ultimo Dragon, and The Great Muta … Lost most of those matches, but gained valuable experience … arrived in the WWF in April 1993 hardly made a splash … Lost his debut match to Louie Spicolli … Also lost to mid-carders such as Doink the Clown and Mr. Hughes, The Kid scored one of the biggest WWF upsets ever by pinning Razor Ramon on May 17 WWF Monday Night Raw … Kid seemed as shocked as everyone in the building … From that point on, fans called him the 1-2-3 Kid … Also pinned Terry Taylor and Ted DiBiase on several occasions … Just as impressive were two victories over former AWA World Champion Rick Martel … Jerry Lawler started poking fun at him on segments of “King’s Court” … Moved up as high as fourth in the WWF ratings in 1993 … Was pinned by Irwin R. Schyster at SummerSlam ‘93 … Lost by countout to Marty Jannetty in a thrilling match on August 31, 1993, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kid was injured when he misfired on a daring dive and hit a steel railing. Jannetty helped him back to the dressing room … Went in a slump after suffering a series of embarrassing losses to Doink … Also lost to Bastion Booger because of interference by Johnny Polo … Polo pushed Kid off the top rope, leading to the pin … Helped protect Ramon from an attack by Schyster, Diesel, Adam Bomb, and Martel after Ramon won his first Intercontinental title, on September 17, 1993 … At the 93’ Survivor Series, he teamed with Jannetty, Ramon, and Randy Savage to defeat IRS, Diesel, Martel, and Bomb … Wrestled well, but made one mistake too many and lost a crucial RAW against Shawn Michaels … Michaels twice power-bombed Kid before Ramon came to his rescue … Won his first major title on January 10, 1994, when he and Jannetty teamed to beat The Quebecers for the WWF World tag team title; Kid pinned Jacques following a flying bodypress from the top rope … Lost the belts back to The Quebecers one week later … Kid stunned Jeff Jarrett in the quater-finals of the 1994 King of the Ring tournament, but was piledrived by “Double-J” three times afterward … There was no doubt as to whether Kid would be ready for the semifinals later that evening, but after a bried delay, he came out and lost a tough match to Owen Hart … Owen went on to win King of the Ring … Had a thrilling match with WWF World champion Bret Hart on July 1, 1994. Kid kicked out of several pin attempts, shocked Bret with a spinning savate kick, but erred by trying a dropkick from the top rope. Bret moved out of the way and Kid landed on his back. Bret won by submission to the “sharpshooter” … In a battle of aerial artists on August 15, 1994, Kid won by disqualification over Owen Hart after Jim Neidhart interfered. Owen then locked Kid in a “sharpshooter” for several minutes … Teamed with Ramon, Fatu, Davey Boy Smith, and Sionne to beat Jarrett, Diesel, Neidhart, Owen Hart, and Michaels at the 94’ Survivor Series. The Kid, however, was one of the first wrestlers eliminated … Teamed with newcomer “Man O’ War” Aldo Montoya in matches against The Heavenly Bodies and others … Teamed with Bob “Spark Plugg” Holly to beat Bam Bam Bigekow and Tatanka in a tournament final for the vacant WWF World tag team title at the 95’ Royal Rumble … But glory didn’t last long. One night later in Palmetto, Florida,The Smokin’ Gunns beat The Kid and Holly for the belts …

fabrication workshop 20/10/2022
I didn't intend to be doing a workshop yesterday, but I'm very glad I had the chance since I missed Monday. In the fabrication workshop we made small objects from plasticine and scanned them with an EinScan Pro handheld scanner. Some people also scanned objects they already had or the faces of their peers—since I didn't have anything with me and didn't want to deal with a bright blue light flashing repeatedly at my face, I just chose the plasticine and later helped someone else scan their face. This scanner is probably dangerous if you have photosensitive epilepsy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did my best to make a tiny servetta muta mask (and to keep it from looking like it belongs in the Friday the 13th film franchise) and this was put on a transparent board with many small white and black dots. These can assist the handheld scanner in establishing the negative areas around the object.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once the object is scanned there is a lot of extra information. This has to be removed manually, and I found it a little difficult to do using only a mouse—I am used to having a drawing tablet when working digitally, so my control with a mouse is lacking.
With the object isolated, the software can create a digital mesh to describe the boundaries of the object and close off any unintended gaps. I don't understand this process very well, as we only went through it quickly and there were a lot of settings we didn't examine.
My piece should be printed soon. Ultimately, I found the process interesting but it didn't really speak to me. Maybe if I made something digitally in Blender and made it physical by 3D printing, that would be interesting. But in this, I made a physical object, digitised it, and made it physical again. I don't feel like I went anywhere with it—except that it used processing power, energy, and plastic filament. It seems a bit pointless and wasteful to me.
At least, while the plastic won't biodegrade, the modelling clay can still be reused.

I'm Back...Predictions for Historic X-Over
After being away from this for over three years, I'm back here on the "Pro Wrestling Express" and...I'm going to start off with key predictions for the NJPW/Stardom crossover event coming up in a couple of hours.
First thing though: The opening video package fans around the world will be seeing on Pay-Per-View.
youtube
Sadly...I will not be watching the event LIVE due to the fact that despite having much money, I have to use that money for Christmas shopping and things most important in my life right now and because of that...won't have enough to order this event but...this card is going to be awesome. This show is going to be amazing. Anyway, time for my predictions for "Historic X-Over"
Match #1: EVIL, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, and Dick Togo [House of Torture] vs. Lio Rush, YOH, YOSHI-HASHI, and Tomohiro Ishii
Many have been looking forward to seeing Lio Rush make his debut in Japan and I got the feeling that him and YOH will send a strong message to the remaining 9 Junior Tag Teams. Thus...I'm going with Chaos for the opening win.
Match #2: Thelka, Himeka, and Mai Sakurai [Donna del Mundo] vs. Saya Kamitani, AZM, and Lady C [Queen's Quest]
Now...being honest here, I don't watch Stardom but I do like what this company does and from everyone I follow on social media, their matches are completely off the charts and this one will be just a sample of that. As for who I have winning this 6-woman tag match, since Saya and AZM are reigning champions (Wonder of Stardom and High Speed Champion, respectively) feeling like someone from "Donna del Mundo" will get the winning pin with that person most likely being Thelka because I feel like with her having been out for parts of the year, she has something to prove.
Match #3: Giula [Donna del Mundo] and Zac Sabre Jr. [Suzuki-gun] vs. Syuri [God's Eye] and Tom Lawlor [Team Filthy]
This is one of the few matches that is hard to predict but if this is used to setup Giulia's eventual rise next month, then I see her getting the win for her team. I'm more of a George Michael fan by the way.
Match #4: Starlight Kid, Momo Watanabe [Black Desire/Oedo Tai], El Desperado, and DOUKI [Suzuki-gun] vs. Natsupoi, Tam Nakano [meltear/Cosmic Angels], Taichi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru [Suzuki-gun]
Feel like this match is going to be insane. Rarely will we see Suzuki-gun members face each other but...big opportunity arises and...as of this typing, I have the feeling once that bell rings, all bets are off. As for who I have winning...can't really predict this one because it's going to be crazy.
Match #5: Maika and Hirooki Goto vs. Utami Hayashita and Hiroshi Tanahashi
The opening package above bills this as "The Aces vs. The Fierce Warriors" with Tanahashi and Utami as the aces of their respective companies and Goto and Maika as those warriors who never give up or never surrender. My prediction for this is I have Utami and Tanahashi winning with Tanahashi getting the winning pinfall.
Match #6: Gideon Grey, TJP, Francesco Akira, Mark Davis, and Kyle Fletcher [United Empire] vs. Shingo Takagi, BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, and Tetsuya Naito [Los Ingobernables de Japon]
Continuing from where they left off in the "Battle Autumn 2022 " tour, LIJ and United Empire square off once again. As for who I have winning, with 3 of the 5 LIJ members competing in the two Tag Tournament starting Monday, with Hiromu competing at "Wrestle Kingdom 17", and with 4 of the 5 United Empire competing also at those two tag tournaments, I see LIJ winning with Gideon Grey once again being the pinfall victim.
Match #7: Great O-Khan, Aaron Henare, and Jeff Cobb [United Empire] vs. Great Muta, Toru Yano, and Kazuchika Okada
In less than two months, the alternate persona of Keiji Mutoh (Great Muta) will officially be retired. Before that though, the Great Muta will make his last NJPW match in the Ariake Arena. As for who I have winning this match...as of this typing I'm going with the United Empire and Jeff Cobb pinning Toru Yano. Got to protect Okada before "Wrestle Kingdom 17" on January 4, 2023. And though I predict United Empire to win, I feel like Great Muta will do something that'll be memorable for all as he says goodbye to NJPW.
Match #8 [Semifinal match]
youtube
In the semi-main event, we have the returning Shota Umino challenging perhaps the best wrestler in all of 2022 in Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship. Who I have winning can go in two ways. Should Ospreay retain over Shota, expect a certain someone (most likely Kenny Omega) to send a video and announce a match between the two at "Wrestle Kingdom 17". Now...if we get the "Roughneck Shock" as it shows in the video package, then expect Shota's first challenger to most likely be Jeff Cobb. No matter who wins this match, this could be a MOTN candidate and possible MOTY.
Main Event [aka Match #9]
youtube
History is going to be made in this main event as it's Mayu Iwatani going one on one with KAIRI to determine the first IWGP Women's Champion. As for who I believe will win this match, it's really hard to predict because, been over 2 years since we've seen KAIRI compete and her comeback this year has been something else. Then, we look at Mayu Iwatani who's a history maker in almost anything. She's got a wild personality and when she wrestles...she'll make you go "wow". So...with that said...it's hard to pick a winner but I'm going with...Mayu Iwatani as the first champion with the first challenger either being Tam Nakano or Starlight Kid.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Although I will not be watching "Historic X-Over", I have the feeling that this is just the starting point for both NJPW and Stardom. Come 2023 and beyond, we're going to see more collaboration events between these two companies. Get ready for a wild Sunday...all on Pay-Per-View.

Wrestling Satsuma no Kuni Night 2 - 4/29/2021; Musings on Shows On This Date; Mox v. Nagata IWGP US Title Match on AEW Dynamite 5/12/2021
Tumblr media
The second night of Wrestling Satsuma no Kuni took place today, and you can see it now on NJPWWorld. No title matches this time, however Kota Ibushi returned to action in his home prefecture of Kagoshima at this show.
- 4/29/2021, Kagoshima Nishihara Shokai Arena (NJPWWorld)
SANADA & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] d. Yota Tsuji & Yuya Uemura (BUSHI > Uemura, Terrible, 8:28)
El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Minoru Suzuki [SZKG] d. YOH [CHAOS], SHO [CHAOS] & Tiger Mask IV (Desperado > Tiger, Numero Dos, 9:14)
Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr. & DOUKI [SZKG] NC Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Jado [Bullet Club]
Toru Yano [CHAOS], Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato d. EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, Taiji Ishimori & Dick Togo [Bullet Club] (Yano > Togo, Schoolboy, 10:12)
Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito [Los Ingobernables] d. Will Ospreay & Great O-Khan [United Empire] (Takagi > O-Khan, Last Of The Dragon, 21:52)
Kota Ibushi & Hiroshi Tanahashi d. Jeff Cobb & Aaron Henare [United Empire] (Ibushi > Henare, Kamigoye, 17:04)
Ibushi gets a win on his return to the ring, and challenged Jeff Cobb post-main. Shingo KO’d Ospreay with a Last Of The Dragon post-match. I will confess, the feud between GOD and Dangerous Tekkers has been built extremely well. Much like the TenKoji v. United Empire feud at the start of the year, NJPW has been excelling with these down-card feuds moreso than the main event or title ones. BUSHI’s finisher I am assuming is a reference to CMLL (Nueva) Ingobernables member El Terrible, but don’t quote me on that.
It was brought to my attention that today (well, it’s almost TOMORROW in Japan as I write this) was the 26th Anniversary of Night 2 of the NJPW show at Pyongyang Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea. The official name of it is the Pyongyang Sports And Peace Festival, but American fans will know it more as Collision in Korea, a show that had a few WCW matches on it as well. There is an episode of Vice’s Dark Side Of The Ring coming up about it, but that’s not why I’m talking about it. (There may be more material about this show coming from me soon, however. Stay tuned.)
I also discovered today is the 25th Anniversary of Battle Formation in Tokyo Dome, a pretty major show that had Shinya Hashimoto defeat UWFi’s Nobuhiko Takada for the IWGP Heavyweight title, The Great Sasuke take the IWGP Juniorheavyweight belt from Jushin Thunder Liger, “Macho Man” Randy Savage beating Hiroyoshi Tenzan whilst Masahiro Chono defeated Lex Luger, and a wildly bloody match between Great Muta v. Jinsei Shinzaki that I covered on an episode of Strong Style History during the pandemic.
My curiosity piqued, I took a look, and discovered NJPW have run 27 shows on April 29, the first being in 1974. Many of them were mere house shows, but then, we have two major ones happening consecutively. Three editions, including the first in 2015, of Wrestling Hinokuni have happened here, as well as Wrestling Toyonokuni from 2017. Wrestling Hinokuni was supposed to happen in 2016 on 4/29/2016, but that got cancelled due to that year’s earthquake in Kumamoto.
We all think of set dates in the NJPW milleu, like, obviously, January 4th, or how August 8 is usually supposed to take place in Yokohama (it didn’t last year), or how March 6 is the Anniversary date. For some reason I went down a bit of a rabbit hole about today. I wonder if I looked deep enough I can find other significant dates on the calendar that keep popping up in NJPW history. Maybe I will someday!
Tumblr media
Just yesterday, mere hours before AEW Dynamite aired, I was kvetching that for all the “Forbidden Door” talk, not much has actually happened between NJPW and AEW thus far. Before the end of the episode, Tony Schiavone announced that the challenged match between Jon Moxley v. Yuji Nagata for the IWGP US title will actually take place on the 5/12/2021 episode of AEW Dynamite. The internet exploded.
Nagata was a somewhat regular fixture in the first hour or so of WCW Monday Nitro on TNT in 1997 and 1998, his last appearance on the network being a win over Perry Saturn on 7/20/1998 (his last WCW appearance a win over Frankie Lancaster on 9/13/1998 on WCW Worldwide). He even got fed to Goldberg in a WCW US title match on 5/5/1998 (on WCW Saturday Night), and had a win over a founding Toryumon member in Magnum TOKYO on the 6/22/1998 episode of Nitro.
In any event, Schiavone sounded excited to call a Nagata match again, and we’re all excited to see Mox v. Nagata. Yes we are.
Other things:
Keiji Muto, who you may recall I wrote an article about this week, is still the Pro Wrestling NOAH GHC Heavyweight Champion, defeating Masa Kitamiya at NOAH The Glory in Nagoya today (Shining Wizard, 22:53). His next challenger will be on 6/6/2021, and it is none other than Naomichi Marufuji, currently Muto’s M’s Alliance stablemate. Hot damn.
I mentioned yesterday that MMA promotion RIZIN’s Tokyo Dome show on 6/13/2021 may be affected by the extension of the attendance cap for large events. What I did not realize at the time was that show was supposed to happen on 5/23/2021 at the Dome and was moved because of the emergency orders. MMA isn’t really my realm of expertise, but it does show how COVID-19 continues to affect wrestling, MMA, sports in general, and indeed, life in general.
We return to the Road to Wrestling Dontaku tour tomorrow, with a house show from Kumamoto that will not be streamed. I may or may not write about it tomorrow, might leave it til Saturday. In case I do that, NJPW Strong this week has a Young Lion Special, with three matches focusing on the Young Lions of the LA Dojo. Could be a fun one! That’s at 10pm EDT / 9pm CDT Friday on NJPWWorld.
- 4/30/2021, Kumamoto Grand Messe
Yota Tsuji v. Gabriel Kidd
YOH [CHAOS], SHO [CHAOS] & Ryusuke Taguchi v. El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Minoru Suzuki [SZKG]
Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr. & DOUKI [SZKG] v. Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Jado [Bullet Club]
Hiroshi Tanahashi, Toru Yano [CHAOS], Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Tiger Mask IV & Master Wato v. EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi, Taiji Ishimori, Gedo & Dick Togo [Bullet Club]
Shingo Takagi, Tetsuya Naito, SANADA & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] v. Will Ospreay, Great O-Khan, Aaron Henare & Jeff Cobb [United Empire]

Day eight - Monday 13 May 2019
True to its word, the weather really turned it on today - rain bucketed down and the temperature struggled to reach 10 degrees. We left for Urbino at 7.30am and arrived at 11am after a couple of wrong turns and route recalculations and a brief roadside stop, where we enjoyed a great coffee and a welcome stretch. Finding a park in Urbino turned out to be easier than we thought and we made our way up a tower and into the historic centre. From the way people were grasping their coats and umbrellas I don’t think we were the only ones feeling the cold.
First things first, we ducked into a bar that we later returned to for lunch, and had a wine and mini panini. Very civilised. Once revived, we went looking for the Palazzo Ducale Di Urbino, also known as the Galleria Nazionale Delle Marche. It was a fascinating renaissance building, designed to inspire – and one of the most important art galleries in Italy. I hope it had lots of soft furnishings in its day (some throws for the couches maybe) as it would have been extraordinarily hard to heat despite the enormous fireplaces.
The Duke’s private reading room was particularly lovely, all the walls decorated in inlaid timber (love that little squirrel) - and we were taken by the angels decorating the mantelpieces in the Angel’s Room and the dainty marble window seats where all the best conversations would have taken place. We were keen to see two famous paintings in particular – La Muta by Raphael (1507) and Flagellation by Pietro della Francesca (1469). I didn’t feel comfortable taking photos of either but I hope that the images will stay with me.
We retired for lunch a couple of hours later and I had a vegetarian platter and David a veal scallopini. Both excellent. We braved the weather again after that and set off up an incredibly steep street looking for the best vantage point to take a photo of the village and its surroundings.
Having packed for a slightly warmer climate I was excited to learn that there was a shopping mall only a short walk away at Porta Santa Lucia. There was only one clothes shop but one was enough. I found two jumpers for a total of 15 euros, which I hope will see me through the worst of the weather. The trip home was easier. No route recalculations, no stops and we were home by 8pm. Within 5 minutes of throwing off our coats, David had a lit a roaring fire and I had made carbonara. Not sure what we will do tomorrow – but whatever that is it won’t require a long arduous drive!

TCR Birthday Bash: Time Travel/Time Period
A/N: For today’s prompt - Time Travel/Time Period - I went with an idea inspired by a cute, easy rom-com: Kate & Leopold. Hopefully it’s pretty self-explanatory.
Haru was sure that the two students sharing the flat below hers were both quite mad.
One was a tall and dark physics major and the other a tall and round historian, although she had little idea as to how either one could possibly be excelling in their field, given that all they ever did was argue. But they had been relatively quiet the last few weeks, and perhaps - in hindsight - that should have been Haru's first clue that something was up.
That particular Monday morning, the morning before her whole world was turned upside down, she was woken by the sound of chaos from the floor below. It came mostly in the form of muffled cussing and something heavy being dropped down onto one of the student flat’s unyielding sofa. She stared at her clock, mentally calculating how many hours she had left before her alarm went off and quickly came to the conclusion that it was not enough for a decent night’s sleep. She turned her ear to the conversation below.
"-can't believe you've done this!" was the first part Haru caught. It sounded like the physics student, Toto. “Do you have any idea how badly you’ve messed up?”
“Me? Yer the one who lost his head when he saw us!” That was definitely the gruff tones of the historian, Renny, nicknamed Muta by the majority of those who knew him. Haru didn’t know how the nickname had come about and, frankly, she was too scared to ask.
"I was not the one who suggested we jump through in the first place!"
"Yer didn't have to come!"
"And leave you to mess up the past unfettered? Not a chance."
"Yeah, well we can both see how well your involvement really kept the damage to a minimal," Muta retorted. "In case it slipped your birdbrain, I'm the one who knows about the past! All you have are theories."
"You wouldn't have even found the time crack if it wasn't for me and my theories!"
"And I wasn't the one who got us noticed back there!"
Haru frowned and pushed herself out of bed, grabbing her dressing gown and heading to the window in the lounge. After only a few dubious moments, in which she decided that if she wasn’t going to sleep then she should make it worth her while, she clambered out into the external fire escape and tiptoed down to the window of the floor below. Snow was falling. Haru pulled her dressing gown closer about her.
The argument had sizzled out by that point, and Haru could make out the two unmistakable young men silhouetted in the light. It looked like they had just returned from a themed society event, for they were dressed in old-fashioned clothes that dated back to the late 19th century.
Toto sighed and glanced to the sofa. "So," he said, "what are we going to do with him? He has to go back."
"Oh, that's so bloody simple why didn't I think of that? Oh, that's right. Because yer blooming portal is no closed until next week! What are we gonna do until then? Keep him locked up here?"
"You're the one who's been ranting about temporal consistency!"
Haru leant to one side of the window and just about managed to catch a glimpse of the period clothing and ginger hair possessed by the unconscious form slumped over the sofa. A moment later, her balance gave way and she facepalmed into the glass with a resounding thud.
Both students jumped, like kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
Haru reclaimed her balance and sheepishly waved. “Hi, boys. Need any help?”
Toto was the first to spring into action, leaping forward and pulling the curtains closed. “Nothing to see here!”
“Oh, wow. You really blew all my suspicions away by slamming the curtains on me,” Haru said. She leant back against the iron railings of the stairwell and listened to the furious whispering taking place on the other side.
“Good going, goofus. Way to defuse the situation.”
“I didn’t see you doing anything!”
“I was thinking!”
“Oh, good lord; we’d be here forever.”
“You know I can hear you, right?” Haru called.
The whispers died immediately, and Haru suddenly became aware she was lingering on a fire escape in the small hours of the morning in nothing but pyjamas and a dressing gown in a growing snowstorm. Sensing that her neighours weren’t about to abruptly change their minds - and she didn’t think she’d make any more headway by knocking on their flat door - she decided to leave the mystery for another day.
She clambered back through her window, fragments of the overheard conversation milling about in her mind. Time crack? Messing up the past? Sending someone back - back where?
She was going to get to the bottom of this.
A/N: Part 2 to be posted later? It got long.

Monday Theory Post!
Alright everyone! Based on the vote, everyone wanted my theories on Haru’s ability to communicate with cats.
This theory will actually be relatively short, though I’ll try to lengthen it a bit.
Now, can Haru speak with Cats? The answer is no.
I know all of us wanted to add something special to Haru by making her able to understand cats but, really, a lot of the movie says otherwise.
Haru isn’t able to understand Cats, she’s just able to understand Cat Kingdom Cats. Whether they speak Japanese/English, or she just speaks their brand of Cat is to be decided.
The reason why I believe Haru isn’t able to understand cats is this scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the procession of cats makes their way towards Haru, the ferals of the neighborhood go on to attack the cats. Unlike the Cat Kingdom Cats, the ferals only communicate in meows, yowls, and hisses towards the others. I’m not sure if it’s just a communication thing, or if it means the cats are incapable of speaking Human.
Along with this, we’ve only had examples of Cat Kingdom cats being able to speak Human. Feral cats from the human world are incapable of talking to Haru.
And before people point it out, Muta was originally from the Cat Kingdom. He was banished after eating all the fish in the lake, but his origin remains the same. Thus, he’s able to speak human.
That brings up a new point though- Why are Cat Kingdom cats so special?
Well, we know the Cat Kingdom turns Humans into Cats, but still gives them their original abilities (speak Human that is). It could be easily assumed that the Cats originally started off as humans, but got turned into cats. Since they never went back to the human world, but still retained human abilities, they just decided “we’re cats now”.

Sakura Genesis 2021 - 4/4/2021
Tumblr media
The traditional Spring megacard has taken place, the first one since 2018. (2019′s was overtaken by G1 Supercard in New York, 2020′s cancelled due to the pandemic.) Hiromu Takahashi made a brief appearance before the first match as well. You can see it now on NJPWWorld, but, well... read on.
Sakura Genesis 2021 - 4/4/2021, Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan (NJPWWorld)
Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr. & DOUKI [SZKG] d. Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Jado [Bullet Club] (Sabre > Loa, European Clutch, 10:10)
Kazuchika Okada, Toru Yano, Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI [CHAOS] v. EVIL, KENTA, Yujiro Takahashi, Taiji Ishimori & Dick Togo [Bullet Club] (Yano > Togo, Urakasumi, 11:37)
Great O-Khan, Jeff Cobb & X (X = Aaron Henare) [United Empire] d. Tetsuya Naito, SANADA & Shingo Takagi [Los Ingobernables] (Henare > SANADA, Streets Of Rage, 9:51)
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Satoshi Kojima d. Jay White & Bad Luck Fale [Bullet Club] (Tanahashi > Fale, High Fly Flow, 10:05)
IWGP Juniorheavyweight Tag Team Championship: SHO & YOH [CHAOS] d. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru [SZKG] © (YOH > Kanemaru, Direct Drive, 20:48) - Desperado/Kanemaru fail their 1st defense - Roppongi 3K are the 65th champions
IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Will Ospreay [United Empire] d. Kota Ibushi © (Stormbreaker, 30:13) - Ibushi fails his 1st defense of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship - Ospreay is the 2nd champion
Immediately post-match, Jeff Cobb of the United Empire flattened Ibushi with a Tour Of The Islands. I expect there to be a grudge match there soon. Ospreay now holds two titles (including RevPro’s Undisputed British Heavyweight belt), and immediately called out Kazuchika Okada for his first defense, however Shingo Takagi interrupted that, and declared he wanted a shot at it. So, I guess it’s Shingo first, probably at Wrestling Dontaku, then presumably Okada at Dominion.
There is a lot to unpack here. After all the hemming and hawing on the part of both Kota Ibushi and New Japan Pro Wrestling about “becoming God,” unifying the titles, committing to an angle that clearly was not popular, the very first defense of the new title goes to Ospreay, whom Gedo and the bookers clearly like. However, between his antics both on social media, and #SpeakingOut, and the recent angle where he gave an OsCutter to Bea Priestley to show just how much he wanted the title that didn’t even go over well with the fans in attendance, this is a wrestler that has alienated a not-small chunk of the New Japan Pro Wrestling audience. It was clear that at some point, Ospreay was going to be IWGP champion. Nobody really expected it to be now, so soon after Ibushi won and unified the titles. This show was pretty United Empire-centric, however, so maybe we should have seen this coming. The fact of the matter is, NJPW have put their brand new main title on someone that legitimately repulses a portion of the NJPW audience.
The only real positive to take from this, is that historically, brand new IWGP champions generally (GENERALLY) have short first title reigns. Recent examples would include Tetsuya Naito, Jay White and EVIL. Historically, Big Van Vader, Tatsumi Fujinami, Riki Choshu, Shinsuke Nakamura and Masahiro Chono (his only reign, cut short due to injury) all had relatively short first reigns with few defenses. It’s the exceptions that you would expect, that have had more significant first reigns -- Antonio Inoki, Keiji Muto/Great Muta, Shinya Hashimoto, Kensuke Sasaki, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, AJ Styles, Kenny Omega. Kota Ibushi’s, frankly, is a little more inflated than it actually was, due to all the drama about unification, as well as the 2-night Wrestle Kingdom 15, making it seem longer than it actually was. I’m pretty sure Ospreay is not going to have a long reign, no longer than Dominion. They seem to be following the pattern of Tetsuya Naito c. 2016 with this storyline, so I expect Shingo to fall at Wrestling Dontaku (a la Tomohiro Ishii) with Okada once more winning this title at Dominion.
To keep up with the United Empire line of thought, the new X member was Toa Henare (so @damascenocs was right again), although going back to being billed as Aaron Henare. (I can’t quite seem to locate when and where he quit going by “Aaron Henry” before going to Henare, and then Toa Henare.) There is kind of a gross subtext here, with Henare being a New Zealander, aka a former British colony, and reverting from a “more native” sounding name like Toa Henare to going by a “civilized, colonial name” in Aaron Henare. Like so many things with regard to Will Ospreay, there is a distinct lack of reading the room here. On the other hand, I don’t actually MIND Henare being part of this, they needed to do something with him after just spinning his wheels in opening tag matches and only ever getting wins over Young Lions for the last few years. He has a new finisher too, sort of a Fisherman’s Death Valley Driver, called Streets Of Rage, a name I confess I love. Post-match, O-Khan attacked Naito’s knee with a chair, so I fully expect this feud to go on for a bit.
In other news about new moves, YOH returned to in-ring action today teaming with SHO, and delivered the winning blow to get the IWGP junior tag belts back around RPG3K’s waists. This new move is called Direct Drive, looks like a butterfly brainbuster or DDT (maybe a bit like Death Rider?). YOH then immediately challenged El Desperado for the IWGP Juniorheavyweight title, which would be YOH’s first-ever I believe. I fully expected this scenario to happen, only with SHO instead. But hey, YOH is back and that’s good.
Post-match, Tanahashi put Jay White into a Texas Cloverleaf, but also finally accepted Jay’s challenge for the NEVER Openweight strap. A challenge has been made by a Bullet Club tandem (KENTA, Yujiro, Ishimori) for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man belts held by Ishii/Goto/YOSHI-HASHI. And finally, Taichi demanded NJPW return the Iron Finger from Hell, implying the office has confiscated it. Hmm.
It wasn’t all bad, but the bad taste left by Will Ospreay and the United Empire, after all the hoopla about the IWGP World Heavyweight title, shows this may in fact be a long year for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
The next show is this Saturday, the beginning of the Wrestling Dontaku cycle. No lineups are announced yet. Probably later tonight or Monday sometime.

Paul Rycaut, The Present State of the Ottoman Empire, 1668
Page 13: The times were also troublesome, and full of danger; the Janizaries kept guard in the streets, not suffering so much as two citizens to walk together, for prevention of secret consultations; many artisans, or handy-craftsmen are imprisoned, as principal in the late tumult, against the consent and order of the new Vizier; the Court was also divided: The Sultans party contrived to surprise and kill the rebellious commanders of the Janizaries, and that the following day, the lieutenant of the Baltages, or hatchet-men, should encounter Kul chiachia as he came according to custom to the Divan, and slay him; but the Old Queen being of a contrary faction, with threats and menaces fright that officer from his design.
Page 43: Of the Vizier Azem or Prime Vizier, his office, the other six Viziers of the Bench, and of the Divan or place of Judicature.
Page 44: There are besides the first, commonly six other Visiers who are called Visiers of the Bench, that have no power nor authority in the Government, but only are grave men, that have perhaps had charges and offices, and are knowing in the laws, and sit together with the first Visier in the Divan or court where causes are tried, but are must and cannot give their sentence or opinion in any matter unless the first Visier please to demand their counsel or judgment in point of law; which he seldom does, not to disparage his own reason and experience. Their pay process from the Grand Signior’s Treasury, and is not above $2000 a year; andy of these six can write the Grand Signior’s Firme or Aurora upon all commands or decrees that are sent abroad; and because their riches are but moderate, and the office they are in treats not much with the dangerous parts of state, they live long without envy or emulation, or being subject to that inconstancy of fortune and alteration, to which greater degrees of place are exposed. And yet when any great matter is in consult, and of considerable importance, the six with the first Visier, the Mufti and Caddeelescheers; or Lords chief Justices, are admitted into the Cabinet Council, and are often permitted freedom to deliver their opinions on the matter of question.
The state and greatness the Prime Vizier live in is agreeable to the honor of him whom he represents, having commonly in his Court about 2,000 officers and servants; when he appears in any solemnity or public show, he carries on his turban before two feathers, as the Grand Signior wears three set now with a handle of diamonds and other rich stones, and before him are carried three horse tails called the tugh upon a long staff, upon the top of which is a gilded knob; the like distinction of honor is permitted only to the three other principal Pashas within their jurisdiction, viz. the Pasha of Babylon, of Cairo, and of Buda; the other inferior Pashas have only one horse tail carried before them without other distinction or badge of authority; and these three aforementioned Pashas have a right to be Visiers of the Bench, and can take their places in the Divan, when the time of their officers are expired, and any of them found at the Court in entire grace and favor.
Page 45: The Prime Visier as he is the representative of the Grand Signior, so he is the head or mouth of the Law; to him appeals may be made, and anyone may decline the ordinary course of Justice, to have his case decided by his determination; unless the Visier through the multiplicity of his affairs, and the small consideration of the case, thinks fit to refer it to the Law. And that he may evidence his care of the public good, he is always present at the Divan four times a week; that is, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and the other days (excepting Friday) keeps Divan in his own house, so diligent and watchful are the men to discharge the Acts of Justice, and their own office.
He is attended to the Divan, which is a Chamber of the Seraglio, by a great number of Chiauses and their Commanders in chief, who are a sort of pursevants and other officers who only serve to attend him to the Divan called Muta faraca, and may be termed Sergeants or Tipstaffs; as he descends from his horse, and enters the Divan, or upon his return goes into his house, he is with a loud voice of his attendants prayed for, and wished all happiness and long life, not unlike the salutations the Roman soldiers used to their emperors; Cum sub auspicie Caesaris omnis prospera & felicia precabantur. When he is st upon the Bench, all causes are brought before the Caddeelescheer who is Lord chief Justice, and by him all judgments pass, unless the Prime visit shall think the cause proper for his cognizance, or shall disprove at any time the sentence of the judge; and they by virtue of his unlimited power he can reverse the verdict and determine as he pleases. All officers in the Divan wear a strange sort of dress upon their heads call in Turks Mugevezee, which for the most lively description, is here delineated before you.
Page 84: The ceremonies they use at the audience of every Ambassador are acted (as in all parts of the world) most to set off the glory of the Empire; and represented with such advantages, as may best afford a theme for an ambassador’s pen to describe the riches, magnificence and terror of the Ottoman power. The audience with the Grand Signior (having first passed a complement with the Prime Visier) is commonly contrived on days appointed for payment of the Janizaries, which is every three months; and with that occasion, the order and discipline of the militia, the money and stipends that are issued forth, are there exposed to the observation of the public minister. The money is brought into the Divan, and there piled in heaps, where the Ambassador is first introduced, and seated on a stool covered with crimson velvet, placed near the first Visier, and other Visiers of the Bench; as soon as the money is paid out of the chief of every Oda or Chamber, who afterwards distribute it amongst their soldiers, a plentiful dinner is prepared for the Ambassador, who together with the first Vizier, and other Viziers of the Bench, and Teftardar or Lord Treasurer, are seated at the same table, which is not raised as high as the table we use, but something lower, covered over with a capacious Voyder of silver, in which the dishes are set, without ceremony of tablecloth or knives. In the same room are two other tables of the principal attendants for the Ambassador, and other personages amongst the Turks of chief note and quality; the dishes are served in by one at a time, which as soon as touched or tasted, are taken off to make room for another; and thus there is a succession of threescore or fourscore services, all the dishes being of china, worth about 150 dollars apiece; which are reported to have a virtue contrary to poison, and to track with the least infusion thereof, and for that reason esteemed more useful for the service of the Grand Signior.
Page 202: Delee signifies as much as a mad fellow or a Hector; these are the Prime Viziers Lifeguard, and are in number from 100 to 400, more or less, according as the Vizier is more or less rich and splendid in his retinue; their pay is from 12 to 15 aspers a day; they are by nation of Bosna, or Albania; their habit is very ridiculous according to this picture; they are men chosen for their great stature and stomachs; they speak big, talk of nothing but killing and adventurous exploits, but in reality their heart and courage is not esteemed proportionable to their bulk and bodies: in the City they march before the Vizier on foot, and make way for him to the Divan; on journeys they are too heavy and lazy not to be well mounted; they have a Captain over them called the Delibaschi; their arms are a lance after the Hungarian fashion, a sword, and pole-axe; and some of them carry a pistol at their girdle. This sort of people being naturally more faithful than the Turks, and more inclinable to the Vizier Kupriuli for being of the same country, he maintained 2000 of the for his Guard; which was so great a curb to the Janizaries and the other militia, that they were never able to execute any conspiracy against him. The same course his son the present Vizier follows, and is doubtless next the Grand Signior’s favour, his principal security.
Page 204: In the front of the camp are quartered the Janizaries, and all others destined to foot service, whose tents encompass their Aga or General: in the body of the camp are erected the stately pavilions of the Visier, of his Kabija, or chief Steward, or Councellor, the Reis effendi or Lord Chancellor, the Tefterdar Pascha or Lord Treasurer, and the Kapisler Kabiasee or Master of the Ceremonies; which five Pavilions take up a large extent of ground, leaving a spacious field in the midst, in the center of which is raised a lofty canopy, under which offenders are corrected or executed, and serves to shelter from the sun or rain such as attend the Divan, or other business with the officers of state. Within the same space of ground also is the Hasna or Treasury, in small chests one piled on the other, in from of a circle, for guard of which 15 Spahees every night keep a watch with their arms in their hands. Near the quarters are the tents of Pashaws, Begs, Agas, and persons of quality, who with their retinue solely make up a considerable part of the Turkish Army. In the rear are the quarters of the Spahees, and others that attend the horse service, as Seghans, Sarigias, and others. On the right hand of the Visier without the camp, are placed the artillery and ammunition, which in the time I was there was inconsiderable, the great cannon remaining in Buda and in the City of Belgrade, only 40 or 45 small field-pieces of brass (as I reckoned them) each drawn by four horses, marched with the Vizier, more at that time for state and ostentation than for real service.
