THIS IS THE PERFORMANCE. IT’S A PIECE BY JOHN CAGE WHERE THE PERFORMER(S) ON STAGE SIT(S) QUIETLY. IT’S A STATEMENT PIECE ON “SILENCE” AND AMBIENT NOISE, AND WE ARE PART OF THE MUSIC!
Working on Bach's Two-Part Invention (BWV 776), p. Nth
I've tried playing this one about two years ago, but my teacher decided it's too difficult for me. We decided to give it a go this semester and it's still a challenge; the modulations are driving me crazy and I'm not sure what's going on even at the very end, when the piece comes back to E Flat Major. Since Thursday I've been working on another four bars and today I've managed to incorporate them to the previous part, although in a slightly slower tempo. The plan is to work on it for another day or two and then switch to the next three bars.

very niche message but, young musicians that bring their instruments in overhead bins on planes!!! ✨🎶IF YOU SEE SOMEONE TOUCHING YOUR INSTRUMENT CALL THEM OUT AND TELL THEM TO STOP🎶✨ I used to be so fucking scared of speaking out and being like "hi can you Not. i will move it myself if need be..." but trust me a stern calm voice will get you very far when it comes to airplanes and instruments. Also some flight attendants will actively keep an eye out for people if you tell them it's an instrument up there!
Safe travels and happy holidays my fellow flightful musicians ♥️
At its core, every piece of media we ever have consumed and ever will consume — whether it’s art, music, books, movies — is fundamentally about love, or the lack of it.
it’s an inescapable facet of human life. it could be about the love you have for people in your life, or how much you hate your job, or love your city, but the love is always there.
