watched atlantis today and was reminded that i have exactly one (1) favorite story. nerdy guy becomes obsessed with a long lost civilization and dedicates his life to studying it and learning the language and then he FINDS it and is the only outsider to truly understand it. also he falls in love with a magical cute girl and helps her save her city.

anyway if u love atlantis (like everyone should) go read strange the dreamer for another version of this story.

I’m just dropping by to say that Strange The Dreamer and Muse Of Nightmares were life-changing. Probably the most well-written YA I’ve ever read. So whimsical and also devastating. I cried.

These books changed my life last year and I am determined to collect every gorgeous edition I can!

Only about 35% done with the Muse of Nightmares audiobook, but i remember even back when i was listening to Strange the Dreamer and we were being introduced to Thyon feeling like "hmmm theres something kind of....gay about him" idk why and up until Lazlo met Sarai i assumed possibly Thyon was a love interest, BUT with the scenes between Thyon and Calixte in the cannibals and virgins chapter where she asks him if he's a maiden, i felt so correct I JUST KNEW and i also just love their interactions! Both Thyon and Calixte just have a perfect dynamic. Theyre both snarky assholes and i love that Thyon's finally gonna make friends

But anyway i kept trying to think like, if Thyon is gay surely Laini Taylor is gonna give him a love interest and not leave him high and dry but i couldn't figure out who it could be bc there arent that many eligible bachelors who would also be into Thyon so i just assumed a new character would be introduced. But finally when we got back to the scene of Calixte and Thyon in the library and the narrator mentions Tzara and Ruza are there and Ruza stealing glances at Thyon i felt like i had run into a wall, like how was Ruza the one guy i forgot about???

Honestly haven't even heard/read them interact yet, but I'm just so pleased by these turn of events and that's it that's all
