I love it when people refer to Danzō as a war criminal in the context of Naruto because that means that in the Narutoverse there's the equivalent of the Geneva Convention that happened at some point and for some reason I find that so funny

The older I get, and the more on fire the world seems to be the more I feel comforted and SEEN by Sir Terry Pratchett and Discworld.

Not because all the books are inherently comfortable so much as because they feel like someone taking you by the hand and saying; “I know. I’m just as angry about this bullshit. But we can hold hands. But the sun still rises. But hope is still important. Hope wears steel toed boots and smiles with pink and bloody teeth and will make you laugh and will make you cry. It’s not okay. But we’re in the shit together, and some day it’s gonna be less shit.”

This got away from me.

One day, about a month ago, I went to my usual grocery store to do some shopping. Thinking, I will buy some Myllyn Paras Makaroni, cause we're out of it and it's the default macaroni that everyone keeps stocked in their pantry. I reach the pasta aisle and am greeted by empty shelves. What? Is there another pandemic that I'm unaware of? Is it the war in Ukraine? No. Turns out that the one machine that churns the macaroni for the whole Finland is broken. And that's how the Finns faced a great macaroni shortage in the summer of 2023.

I love how in the Tmnt franchise it's always an indisputable fact that Splinter will always take care of the boys. Like he'll literally have his life turned completely upside down by being mutated into a rat and then he'll see these four infant mutated turtles and literally go-

"Babies?? Babies for me?? Babies for me to adopt and cherish and teach??? Yes???? Guess I'm a dad now."

And he just rolls with it, no questions asked he just becomes their dad and honestly it's quite sweet and wonderful when you think about it.

BG3 Companions and Sign Language headcanons

Shadowheart: she knows sign language. She’s pretty good at it. Why? Being able to communicate silently and without spells absolutely screams of Sharran sensibilities. And this is a skill set that would lean into Sharran things that Shadowheart wouldn’t have any intrinsic need to struggle against. It doesn’t hurt anyone in and of itself. Also I can see her and Nocturne/Renault using it to talk unheard when they were small.

Lae’zel: she’s a soldier and sing language would be very useful on the field of battle — possibly moreso than speech if communicating between dragon riders. That said the sign language she knows is based of Tir’su not common, and is very basic and military in nature.

Karlach: any sign language Karlach knows was picked up on accident and for similar reasons to Lae’zel — she’s a soldier. It would only make sense for her to know a little. It’s not at all good for conversation though, pure utility. And a few swears.

Wyll: Wyll knows a Little sign Language — just enough to help when encountering people who cannot hear or speak in the course of his heroics as The Blade. I cannot see this man encountering a deaf or mute person and NOT taking the time to learn a little in order to be sure no one is left behind in a dangerous situation.

Gale: Gale does not know sign language but he would go out of his way to learn and pick it up quite fast — somatic elements of spell casting and his fascination with words would drive his curiosity and will to learn about it. That said he absolutely will leap before he looks early on and say some astoundingly off the mark things in sign language as he’s learning. (As in mistaking one sign of gesture for another).

Astarion: this man does not know sign language. He knows thieves cant, which is comparable, but not a full language. And it operates on an entirely different “vocabulary” so to speak.

Jaheira: Jaheira knows sign language. She signs it better than you. Don’t ask me why it’s just a feeling.

Minsc: does NOT know sign language. Not even a little. And even if he did I just don’t think he is paying enough attention to pick up on anything you’re saying. Boo, on the other hand, does know sign language.

Halsin: might know a little sign language. I can see it possibly coming up.

Minthara: absolutely knows sign language for similar reasons to Shadowheart. But like Lae’zel the sign she knows is not based off common.

As much as I don't particularly enjoy canon Sakura, I do wish people wrote more about her being left behind basically all the time (because no matter how much people love her, she can't keep up with Naruto and Sasuke when Kishi has basically made them half-gods by the end of the series) and all that comes from that (as someone who used to cause trouble because I wanted people to remember about me, I know what it feels like to be forgotten)

Also I wish people wrote more about Sasuke never truly forgiving Itachi, because while I do love Itachi as a character he's far from a saint or a hero and people need to stop putting him on a pedestal and give Sasuke the anger he deserves

👿 What trope do you hate / avoid at all costs?

There aren't many tags I avoid at all costs, probably only scat and necrophilia? For every other tag it depends on the context of the fic, if it's well written I can read almost anything ngl

😍 What is your favourite fic trope?

Time travel fix-it is, by far, my absolute favorite trope to read about

Also the soulmates trope but only if it's not forced (example, "We have the same soulmark so we HAVE to be together no matter that we've only met 0.3 seconds ago" gets old fast for me, but a NaruSasu or SatoSugu kinda thing like, "you're my soulmate, my one and only, we've chosen each other against all odds and we will find each other again and again in every universe and every life" will never get old for me and it's my life and blood, no matter if it's platonic or romantic)

Another one yet that I love is enemies as lovers, as in "We're enemies but we fuck and I want no one else to kill you except for me but I WILL kill you if the situation calls for it" which is rare as a trope for me to find, since usually people write enemies TO lovers instead of enemies AS lovers, which is mostly how I imagine Ao/Shisui in my head ngl

Hi I just wanted to say im obsessed with your iteration of the Macaque I've been thinking about him for so long. I love his passion for theatrics and acting and how it plays into his reflection/shadow thematics, with him playing the role of the "false mind" for Wukong. I love how he's so kind and patient but also such a little bastard. I love how he at first tried to steal enlightenment by imitating Wukong but now that he's spared, Tripitaka is offering him a real/true path to enlightenment by actually joining the group and helping deliver the scrolls as HIMSELF because cultivation of his own identity is so important to him and hhhhhhhbhmdhgbf this au is destroying me thank you for posting it ur amazing and so talented

WHO ARE YOU TO PERFECTLY GUESS MY PLANS?!?!

In all seriousness, it’s an honor. Spared!Macaque is my homage to the book, a reason to study it and the culture just enough to at least give some sense to my au.

He is so vastly different from the other demons we encounter in their journey because of his role as Sun Wukong’s darker counterpart. His goal was never to eat Tripitaka, it was to replace the king.

Allegorically it makes sense, as he is the embodiment of Sun Wukong’s violent nature, keeping him stuck in his ways.

Story wise, I had to ask ‘why’?

His motive is never explained, so I pieced together my own interpretation.

With the main mental question being: Who is he without Sun Wukong?
