I know Tumblr isn't really a thing anymore, #medtwitter has taken over but it is really crazy to think that I am applying for residency now and that I will be done in a couple months. 

I am thankful for how far I have come, idk how excited I am about residency (b/c I am lazy lol) and we essentially work for pennies but if you a are pre-med or still in med school keep pushing

from MS4 to MD

hi! i’m a current 4th year medical student that failed step 2 the first time i tried to take it. i went through the whole eras application process and had several interviews, which was so fun, btw. but now that the NRMP rank lists are open, and i still haven’t retaken step 2, i am scrambling to figure out my options. i started this blog to hopefully get some of the noise out of my head. my #medtwitter was no longer an option cuz it was getting to non-anon. 

if anybody is or was going through a similar situation, i’d like to hear more!

Oh my god, why are the presets for some of the synthesizers in MuseScore 4 fucking different.

#the effect synthesizer is 000:80(Square Wave) instead of 000:96(Ice Rain) for some reason??? #there's already an instrument LITTERALLY called Square Synth that uses THE EXACT SAME SOUND #why??? #Ice Rain is Right There! In the new soundfont!! I've checked! #it's just...not being used??? #and of course the sforzando plugin is being a bitch again and playing two presets at once #so THAT'S not an option #meaning I'll have to open up polyphone again.... #i can't WAIT till MS4 lets us change the presets again #seth blabs #vent

So Um. Idk Who All Is Aware But There Has Recently Been A Major Update To Musescore. For The Most Part, Everything Is So Much Better. The Instruments Used Are Higher Quality, Or At Least Sound Like It.

However, I Think I Went A Little Too Hard In Musescore 3, Because This Part Gives Musescore 4 A Seizure.

Reality Checks

as of today I got two emails from residency programs asking for updates on my Step 2 score. I don’t know what to say. obviously the answer is I won’t have my score by March 1, the deadline to match and even apply to SOAP, so I won’t be verified by my school and cannot be ranked by programs. I don’t really know if I even want to re-apply next year, but it’s just so scary to think about emailing all the programs I interviewed with and have to tell them “for personal reasons” I won’t be part of the Match this year. my advisor told me that I should say I’ll reapply next year because I’m still interested, but I feel like I’d rather say that I will stay in touch for possible opportunities in the future.

withdrawing my application is going to feel so scary and a super reality check. I’m disappointed in myself I didn’t get this worked out earlier. my therapist tells me “there is no universe where you could have done something differently” and I disagree.. but whatever.
