100 unforgettable movie scenes: Maggie Cheung as Mrs. Chan & Tony Leung as Chow Mo-Wan in IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (2000)
— "Editing Like a Memory" Via Director Goran Stolevski: It was the first time I realized what you can do with editing that wasn't about being fancy or showing off techniques. It was about kind of capturing feelings in a way that was a lot more direct. This person is really trying so hard, partly for herself and partly for everyone else around her, to hide those (feelings). When it explodes, it feels so much more real.
I am so happy to share my Joi with you!! This cosplay has been a dream of mine to make! The Bladerunner films are some of my favourites, that retro cyberpunk aesthetic 🤌 tragic love story 😭 and scathing commentary on capitalism. What more could you ask for?
No me arrastres. No me asustes. Vete lejos. Sé yo mismo y no te arrepentirás. ¿Por cuánto te vendes? Regálame a tus ídolos. Caliente, claro. Y sin azúcar. Sin aliento.
100 unforgettable movie scenes: Decaying portrait of New York City in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976)
"All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take spooks. Don't make no difference to me."
The Bladerunner films have been one of my favourite sci-fi movies for a long time. I love learning what inspired films, then going and watching them. It's a like a Russian doll of media.
It's so amazing to see just how much care and love goes into art, and the community which forms around it. It's one of the best things about humanity.
Seeing such a large and loving community form around Barbenheimer is making me so happy. I think the last time we all were excited like this was Pokémon Go. 😝🎉
How did George Lucas get the idea for Darth Vader?
At first, Darth Vader was a minor character in the original rough draft. He is a general who orders the Sith Knight Valorum to capture the Princess. Valorum eventually turns good and betrays Vader, who is killed when General Luke Skywalker and a squadron of Wookiee pilots destroy the Imperial space station. He takes the place of various evil generals from assorted jidai geki, Roman epics, and World War 2 films.
It was in the third draft that Lucas made Vader the main villain, making him the dark sorcerer and deadly warrior we know and love. In his opening scene, he boarded a ship after breaching its hull. His artist Ralph Macquarrie suggested that Vader would have to wear a breathing mask to fight in space. The idea of the mask intrigued Lucas, who expanded it into a developed suit. He told his artists Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie to draw him something part German Stormtrooper, Part Samurai.
