Speaking of Cyrano de Bergerac, I recently saw the movie musical version of it released last year, with Peter Dinklage in the lead role. And I already thought it was an incredible casting choice, but today I found out that the screenplay (and the stage version) was written by Dinklage's wife, Erica Schmidt, and I just. Holy shit.

Is there not something so fucking romantic and intimate about loving your partner so much that you rewrite one of the most iconic and classic stories in the world to be about them, about the way they are overlooked for having a stigmatized physical trait, and portraying them as a sexy, compelling romantic lead so that the world can fall in love with them like you have? And making that classic story better, more meaningful and personal, because you put your own love for this person into it?

I'm just, I'm losing my shit over here, you guys. Now the whole movie just feels like we're seeing this man through his wife's eyes and I'm genuinely crying over this revelation.

Watched Candyman (2021) for the first time and it’s honestly a good commentary on cycles and how they keep repeating themselves. Not just cycles though. Stories and legends. William, I’m pretty sure that’s his name, says that Candyman isn’t just Sherman. It’s a list of Black men, and even boys, who were wrongfully killed at the hands of oppressors. It’s a hive. Literally. This also shows in how Anthony names his art exhibit “Say My Name”. It’s not just for Sherman. It’s for every single person who makes up the hive. Who makes up Candyman. He even tells Brianna at the end to tell everybody. In so many different cultures all around the globe, this is how stories, legends, and even history continue to be spread. You have to tell them and speak their names. This is how we remember those who were wrongfully and unjustly taken from this world due to racism and prejudice as well. We have to keep talking about them to keep them alive, or else they may be forgotten. Yeah….it’s a 10/10 for me.

Here is everyone all together! I hope this makes it easier to visualise how some of the characters might look irl. The “standardiser” blocks are just there to make all the charts the same height so it scales properly. Then the man and woman figures are just the average height for humans, to help put the characters into perspective. Yeah I put Klaus in between the human woman and Nooshy on purpose because I’m 5′4″ and Cadence is 3′10″ and I wanted to visualise it leave me alone I know I’m cringe.

For characters with two height estimates, I just put their highest one even if it included hair.

#if you don't know me: hi i'm nem and when the scooby doo hyperfixation beam hit me back in 2021 i was cursed to forever think about #fred jones more than everyone else on the planet combined #i just think the evolution of his character is so fascinating #especially in the way that they made him more engaging by just exaggerating his core traits a whole bunch over time #my favourite iterations of his are mystery inc (for the canon autism and generally how emotionally affecting he is) #and what's new (for just how plain silly and sweet he is) #however now that i've seen the whole show be cool's version of fred is now a firm favourite as well (his focus episodes are amazing!!!) #there's just so much that can be done with him and there's never a dull moment when he gets quality screentime in an episode or movie #he makes me laugh he makes me cry and through relating so much to his character he essentially tricked me into loving myself #i grew up with undiagnosed autism and struggled with self-hatred for things like my intense interests/social struggles/hyperempathy #things that i now know are just. fundamental parts of me and the way my brain is #so seeing fred be his unapologetic autistic self (canon in mystery inc/coded in everything else) made me feel less alone & gave me hope #which eventually led me to seek out & obtain my formal diagnosis at 17 and generally just feel so much more secure in who i am #so yeah!!!! this silly goofy cartoon character means a whole lot to me and i'm glad to have a place to express that :) #i look forward to seeing everyone's responses to this question!!! #scooby doo

I just finished watching Inuyasha and I have some thots and opinions.

I loved the twist at the end with Naraku not being the final boss, but rather the Shikon jewel itself is the final evil that Kagome needs to defeat.

I'm disappointed that Midoriko did not have any dialogue at all when the jewel was destroyed. Like you think that her creating the jewel and fighting demons inside the jewel for 500+ years would be pretty significant to the story, but I guess not 🤷‍♂️

I honestly did not expect Kohaku to be one of the characters that survives to the end since he dies multiple times in the show, but I like that he's continuing on becoming a demon slayer (also I looked at his Yashahime design they made him kindaa 🥵)

Speaking of Yashahime, I don't plan on watching it. Mostly, I'm disappointed with the direction that Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship goes in since, to me, it was very clear that the original series was establishing a sort of father/daughter bond between the two. With how Sesshomaru was protective of Rin when he originally doesn't care for humans, and how Rin sees the good and kindness hidden in him when he's initially heartless, I think their relationship would've had so much more potential if they had a familial bond rather than a romantic bond that just comes across as cheap fanservice. also i hate the design of their daughters, they look like they had to share a jar of manic panic vampire red hair dye bc rin could only afford 1 jar.

Seasons 1-3 were really good, seasons 4 and 5 took a bit of a dip in quality and the plots for those seasons weren't well written, but seasons 6,7, and final act are some of the best anime that I've watched in years. This anime is definitely one of my favorites and it's going to be a permanent part of my personality now.
