How much you’ll want to call and update them when you hit milestones in your life

How difficult holidays will be and how odd it will feel when their birthday passes

How awkward it will be when someone asks you how they’re doing

How much you’ll actually miss them

Removing someone from your life doesn’t always stem from hatred… and that makes it so much more painful.

Making a choice to put yourself or your family first isn’t always clean break.

Haze

It’s a rush of warmth that at first is welcomed, greening the grass and blooming the trees. But then it grows and the wind blows harder, harder, ripping off petals and snapping branches. It howls and muddies the sky, fading the light until all that’s left of the sunset is colorless dust. The fire in the sky, dimmed to nothing by the fire on the ground as it burns through the growth. But when the haze disperses, and the wind slows, the grass will green and the trees will bloom again.

Sometimes I hate my body.

Not because there is anything wrong with it, or because I want it to be a different one; but rather because of the constraints it puts on existence. Sometimes I am annoyed with bearing the responsibility of feeding it, resting it and mending it. I yearn for the freedom to exist outside of the bounds of this fragile casing.

And suddenly I am riddled with guilt, because my body has never done anything to deserve being wished out of existence. I can feel it withdraw as if it overheard my vicious thoughts. All it has ever done is keep me alive and thriving; yet this is how I repay it? She deserves all the maintenance in the world -- at minimum -- and all I. can seem to do is wish her into the ether. The least I can do to make up for my unfounded hatred is wash her face with HER hands and cooke her a nutritious meal. I'll spend forever repaying her for her eternal, unrelenting kindness. Maybe if I'm lucky, she'll forgive me one day. And maybe if I'm lucky I can love her for once.
