Season’s Beatings Info And FAQ!
Hey friends! This is the official information post for the event, plus answers to the questions that have been popping up!
What Is This Event?
Season’s Beatings (formerly Saint Whumpolas) is a gift exchange in the style of a Secret Santa. Everyone who signs up will both give and receive a whumpy gift based on their OCs!
How Does It Work?
When you sign up for the event, you will be paired with two people- one person who you will make a gift for, and one person who will make a gift for you. You’ll be sent an ask with your gift person’s OC/story/favorite trope/disliked tropes information, and you’ll use that to create something amazing for them! Meanwhile, your own gifter will be making something wonderful using your OCs! I’ll collect all the gifts here, and on Christmas Day, everyone will receive their gifts!
When Does It Start?
I’m hoping to have the sign-up form finished tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Sign-ups will close on November 25. I’ll hopefully have everyone paired up by November 29.
The deadline to send in your gifts will be December 25, giving everyone three weeks to complete their gifts, and five days for the standby people to fill in if necessary.
Gifts will be sent out on December 30!
What Makes A Gift?
A gift can be anything! Art, writing, moodboards, other types of art- anything you can think of! There’s only three restrictions- for writers, gifts have to be 500 words minimum (no maximum!). You’ve got to put at least some effort into your gift- five minutes to make a vaguely whumpy meme edit is not going to cut it. And this event is SFW only, so please make your gifts accordingly. (For the purposes of this event, NSFW is anything sexual- so implications, references, fade-to-black, etc., should all be left out.)
Who Can Join?
For this year, the event is open to OC whumpers only. I’m going to be working next year (hopefully) on a way to run this that includes fandom whump, but for this year, OCs only. However, I believe there is a fandom whump version of this being run by @whumpdreamz, so if you see this and you’re a fandom whumper, head over that way!

A fandom week focusing on whumping The Witcher characters, open to all kinds of fan created content. It will run on Tumblr, Pillowfort and Dreamwidth from 19th to 26th February 2024.
Each day has different prompts, and you are invited to create content based on those prompts: fics, art, moodboards, playlists - whatever strikes your fancy.

WIP Thoughts + Updates
I did some serious cocooning, mental health care work in January (obviously still going on but that was my main focus last month) so I've been finally emerging out of all of that. I've also been writing more (!!) but I also feel like I've made zero progress on things? Which isn't actually true. So this post is a catch-up post in general, plus just a personal reminder to myself to relax and step back to look at what I've been working on!
Bellarke, Rock & Religion + Florida Gothic AU
(New WIP, multi-chapter)
The first chapter might almost be done?? Which feels wild to type out but it really might be. I do think this is a story that would benefit from me writing ahead at least a little bit as I go though. The moodboard I shared earlier for the planning remains the same! I will make sure to go back and inject some more moodiness into it, right now the characters are running amok on their own to get their personalities fleshed out and I don't want to interrupt that. So we'll see how far I can get with it but I'm digging it so far!
Hellcheer, Kas!Eddie + Haunting AU
(New WIP, ideally a oneshot)
This little thing started out as a song-inspired AU and is quickly spiraling out of control lol. But I'm determined to ride it out, let it be completely indulgent. It's going to have alive!Chrissy and demon/Kas!Eddie, which is a trope I've never really looked at before but it feels right for this. It's going to have some body horror and like, fucked up guardian angel vibes. I'm really loving it, but it's turning out definitely weird and experimental so we'll see how it goes. The important thing is I'm obsessed with it!

SoC Whump AUs: I've started writing four more of them, with five concepts being prepped. I really enjoy whump but it's definitely had to get into the mood for it at times. Slowly but surely!
Crackling Fires: I have four prompts started, at least in outline form! But I'm definitely having to practice reining myself in and not making them too elaborate. I think I need to go back and tweak some of them to be more "scene" focused, rather than "story focused" (can you tell I only ever write long things?)
I've also recently posted a new WIP to my 🌶️ account, so obviously not really getting into that here. But that second chapter is in the works! And I honestly need to just acknowledge it here because it does count as writing, even if it's not something I talk about over here. My time loop AU is paused though, I'm not sure if I like it anymore so it needs to ruminate some I think.
Excited to keep chipping away at these, plus I think I'll be ready soon to get back to some old WIPs as well! I think probably starting with either the dystopian mythology AU or the medieval fantasy one.

Challenge Overview
What is the "It's not the prompt. It's the creator." challenge?
In celebration of the 1 year anniversary of Top Gun: Maverick's release, the "It's not the Prompt. It's the creator." challenge is to showcase the creativity and uniqueness of those in the TG and TGM fandoms by having creators all use the SAME ONE prompt to create their art. The idea is that even if there are similarities, it is the creator's own creativity, innovation, and preferences that make their creations special and original in ways no other creator can.
What is the prompt?
"Last summer was one no one could ever forget. Now, a year later, character(s) still feel(s) the effects of that time."
When do we submit our work?
The event will start on Saturday, May 27 and run until Saturday, June 4. During this time, this blog will reblog the submissions for everyone to see. However, if you post after this date, that's fine too.
How do we submit our work?
You can do this one of two ways:
Post your work on your blog as usual and tag @tgm-all4one. Also, tag the post with #tgm all4one. It will then be reblogged here throughout the week.
Submit a post to this blog using the "Submit your papers" button in the blog header. As long as it is tagged correctly, the blog will then post it throughout the week.
What forms of artistic mediums are allowed?
Any and all. Writing, artworks, GIF sets, edits, moodboards, playlists, Pinterest boards, etc. If you have any questions if something counts, please feel free to send and ask or a DM.
AI generated submissions are the only exception as these are not permitted.
What topics, themes, or tropes are allowed?
Whatever the prompt inspires you to use. SFW, NSFW, slash, reader insert, OC, no relationship, poly, AU, fluff, smut, angst, whump, etc. Just make sure to tag your posts thoroughly or it will not be reblogged.
Are minors allow to participate?
Unfortunately no. Because this event allows NSFW content, anyone under 18 will not be allowed to participate. If your blog does not have any age indicated on it (18+, 20s, over 21, 35, etc.), your art will not be reblogged.

General Event Info
Here are the rules and requirements and general info for all Sterek & Stuff events:
New or unpublished works accepted. (Feel free to combine with other events!) No maximum for word count or amount of works.
There are three kinds of events:
Seasonal: 2 or more full moons and generally a solstice or equinox, over 5 weeks. 15-24 prompts.
Moon: 1 moon (full, eclipse or other phases.) Under 5 weeks and during or between seasonal events. 10-13 prompts.
Mini: May or may not be moon related. I'm thinking for more random or trope centered ideas. 1 week or less. 5-7 prompts and/or 3 tropes.
Writers
Seasonal events:
3,000 words minimum using 3 or more prompts. This can be one fic or multiple works of at least 1,000 words each.
Moon events:
1,500 words minimum using 2 or more prompts. This can be for one fic or multiple works of at least 750 words each.
Mini events:
500 words minimum (unless paying the Sterek Toll) using 1 or more prompts/tropes.
Combo writers: If you're doing an art post or a standalone mix too then only the single work minimum is required for Seasonal and Moon events. (1,000 or 750 words.)

Combo artists: If you're doing a standalone mix too then only 1 prompt is required for art.
Mixers
There are 2 options for standalone fanmixes:
1. Use the prompts (3+ Seasonal, 2+ Moon or 1+ Mini,) to make a playlist. Events will either have a particular number as one of the prompts -- which is how many songs it should have -- or other instructions. Arrange them however you like: all grouped together in segments, whatever flows best, randomly, etc.
2. Make a playlist using 1 song for every prompt (in any order.)
If you’re attaching a playlist to a fanfic or art post:
Do whatever you want! But you get extra cool points for using the event number of tracks and/or some of your prompts.
Put your playlists on Spotify, YouTube or both so I can listen to them. 😉

Content:
These events are primarily for generating more Sterek, but it’s Sterek & Stuff for a reason. I’m a multishipper and some of you might be too, so the deal is if you pay the Sterek Toll you can do other Teen Wolf ships (or pre-ships and gen) in separate works should you desire.
The Sterek Toll is:
Seasonal: At least 2 prompts. 1,000+ words of Sterek for writers and 1 piece of art for artists.
Moon: At least 1 prompt. 750+ words of Sterek for writers and 1 piece of art for artists.
Mini: At least 1 prompt. 500+ words of Sterek for writers (so 1,000+ total for the event) and 1 piece of art for artists.
Music is generally up to interpretation so unless you go out of your way to say it’s not for Sterek don’t worry about it, lol. But if mixers want a toll too then it's 10 tracks, 2+ prompts for seasonal events and 1+ prompts for moon events, or 5 tracks with 1+ prompts for mini events.
There will be Sterek Only subcollections on AO3 and separate Sterek and NonSterek posts on Tumblr (with the exception of one or two post-event total round ups along with the other round ups.)
To count as a Sterek fic Stiles and Derek have to be together by the end. The story should focus on them, but feel free to include secondary characters and ships too.
Sterek Plus and Sterek Poly go in the other ships category and is subject to the Sterek Toll.
Allowed:
Any secondary or background ship.
Crossovers as long as the focus is on Sterek (or other TW characters if you’ve paid the Sterek Toll.)
Angst, whump, and dark themes as long as there's nothing from the Nope section.
Nope:
(Not judging, I just plan on reading everything so am selfishly dictating things to my tastes, lol.)
No permanent death of Stiles or Derek. If you’re doing a series with the same story then they both have to be alive and together (or have the possibility of being together in the future) in the last related work. (This applies to other TW works too and no permanently killing off whoever is in that main ship either, if applicable.)
No miserable, tragic endings. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect and happily ever after, but the last related work should at least have a hopeful, “we’ll make the best of this shit,” or open ending for Stiles and Derek (or other main character/ship.)
No explicit descriptions or depictions of sexual activity for characters under 16. (Kissing, dating, references or vague descriptions are okay.)
No bestiality. (As in regular animals. Xeno /Tera with beta, alpha, or full shifted Derek, Stiles, etc, is okay.)
No scat.
No necrophilia, wound-fucking, and such. (Bloodplay, vampires, post vanquishing-our-enemies getting it on, etc, is okay.)
No Real Person Fiction. (As in Hobrien instead of Sterek. If you want Stiles, Derek, etc, to randomly run into Edgar Allan Poe or the Rock or something that's fine, lol.)
Make sure to tag accurately!
Posting:
Begins when the event does. See individual event info for dates.
On Tumblr:
Tag your work here with #(event) and #(prompt) for each prompt that you use, (ex: #spring moons equiphlox, # spring moons equiphlox arranged, #spring moons equiphlox sleepy, #spring moons eclipse whisper,) and @sterek-and-stuff-events.
If you're doing multiple works either add links to the previous ones at the end or give them all the same tag (ex: #sbm trisk.) Or both.
On AO3:
Collections will be added here either the first day or a day or two before the event.
If it's a Sterek work add it to both Sterek subcollections, general and event specific. (Ex: SaS_Sterek, Sterek_Blue_Moon.) It'll go to the parent collections too.
If it's NonSterek/Sterek+ add it to both parent collections. (Ex: Sterek_and_Stuff_Events, SaS_Blue_Moon.)
If you’re doing multiple works put them in a series.
Late posting
Events go until whenever the next one starts.
When that happens you can still use previous prompts, but you have to make something with the current ones too, either adding the new prompts (3, 2, or 1) to the others or doing separate works.
If the latter, post the current event work first. Only the one work minimum -- 1,000, 750 or 500 words, 1 prompt art, etc -- is needed if the other(s) meet the event requirements. Ex: Posting 1,100 words and using 3 prompts for a current Seasonal event & 2,050 words and 2 prompts from a previous Moon event counts as 3,000+ for the current Seasonal event.
Collections will remain open at least until a similar event comes around the following year.

Witcher Whump Week 2024
A fandom week focusing on whumping The Witcher characters, open to all kinds of fan created content. It will run on Tumblr, Pillowfort and Dreamwidth from 19th to 26th February 2024.
Each day has different prompts, and you are invited to create content based on those prompts: fics, art, moodboards, playlists - whatever strikes your fancy.
You can whump any The Witcher character from any canon. OCs are welcome.

2023 Writing Wrap-Up and Looking to 2024 Goals
I'm always so inspired by the introspective work that @kinetic-elaboration does about her work so I felt like diving into mine!
Not to sound dramatic, but it definitely took me up until the New Year for me to realize how much of a deep spiral I'd found myself in mentally in the second half of the year. It's not something I'm used to having to deal with, so I kept brushing it off as being a factor of "laziness" or just not being able to focus. So with now accepting what my starting point actually is, I'm excited for the new year to focus on improving that and working on what I'm creating!
Creating Goals:
I'd really, really like to get back into making gif sets! I'm not sure about making graphics anymore, but I really miss making gifs. So my priorities would be first finishing my season 4 gif set for Stranger Things, and then maybe doing some more fun ones or opening up for requests!
I don't have any immediate plans to make graphics again, but never say never! But I do miss moodboards as well, so maybe that's a possibility as well
Writing Goals:
The bigger one! My goal is to practice writing more drabbles and ficlets or oneshots to get my brain out of the slog of these huge WIPs I have. NOT that I'm not planning on finishing them –– in fact I'd like to really focus on getting fics completed! But I also need to, as with everything, do more warm ups and practice if I want to achieve these bigger stories. So I'm hoping to be posting more short things in the meantime, while building up my writing endurance to make more progress again on these larger stories. That'll include some new content, as well as the Six of Crows whump stories [link] and The 100 autumn-themed ones [link].
I plan to go through all of my WIPs again and reassess where they're at and what it would take to finish them. And then, does it even feel worth it? There are a couple that have been hovering over the chopping block all year so I'll see if 2024 is the year they get the official chop. It turns out on AO3 I "only" have 8 fics that are unfinished? Which I suppose compared to stories I've started, isn't terrible.

Ho ho HAHAHAHAHA!
It’s Christmastime, whump community! And Saint Whumpolas, patron saint of whump, is looking forward to the fun! If you’re sighing at how un-whumpy the presents under your tree seem to be, if your gingerbread dungeon dreams became a plain old gingerbread house, if your stocking isn’t stuffed with hurt and maybe some comfort…then this is the event for you!
This is Saint Whumpolas’ Whumpy Secret Santa, a whump community event where whump creators anonymously gift writing/art to each other and try to guess who’s got who!
How It Works:
Step 1. Sign up for the event by December 5th
Step 2. Get assigned a fellow whump blog to make something for
Step 3. Send in your whump creation to Saint Whumpolas
Step 4. Saint Whumpolas will deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve! Try to guess which whump blog created a gift for you, and see your gift blog’s reaction to the present you made for them!
The Rules
• I’m cutting sign-ups off at midnight Mountain Time on December 5th. If we end up with an odd number of blogs, I’ll jump in to make sure everyone gets a gift- if you’d like to also volunteer to be on emergency standby instead of/in addition to signing up to make and receive a gift, let me know!
• Please don’t sign up if you can’t make something- we want everyone to get a gift!
• From December 5th on, you’ll get an ask in your inbox from this blog, letting you know who you’re making a gift for, their favorite tropes, and their dislikes/squicks- PLEASE MIND THEIR DISLIKES/SQUICKS. It will not be fun to get a triggering gift on Christmas. You don’t necessarily have to adhere to their favorite tropes, but keep them in mind as you write/draw/whatever.
• The deadline for gifts is at midnight Mountain Time on Christmas Eve. PLEASE HAVE YOUR GIFTS SENT IN BY THEN.
• Since part of the fun is going to be guessing who made each gift, please don’t post your gifts publicly! I’ll provide an email for you to send them to, and I’ll post them on this blog- the gift in your inbox will be the link to your present! (After the event is over and you’ve been guessed/revealed yourself, feel free to post your creation- gift blogs, you can absolutely reblog your gift once you’ve gotten it!)
• I’m gonna say that since this is a Christmas event, gifts must be SFW.
• I’m also gonna say that since this is my first go-round hosting an event, we’re gonna keep it to OC whumpees only for this year. It could get tricky if someone gets asked to write a fanfiction for a fandom they know nothing about, so for this year, OCs only.
• Minimum word count for writers is 500. You can go over as far as you want- I’m sure people would love to get a Lord Of The Rings-length epic in their inbox- but please have at least 500 words for your gift. I don’t know enough about art to put anything specific down for artists, but if you participate please make sure to put a little effort into your gift! (A meme you spent two minutes photoshopping, for example, does not count as a gift. Drawings, doodles, moodboards, comics- all acceptable.)
• For the first…hmm…fifty people to sign up, I will try to match you with a blog who shares your interests (that’s twenty-five pairs.) After that, it’ll be randomly assigned, just so I don’t get overwhelmed.
• Clearing up a few things: your gift is supposed to be a thing you make, be it art or writing or whatever, using your gift blog’s OCs. You’re basically gifting them fanfiction/fanart, and receiving fanfiction/fanart in return. Also, the blog you gift to will not be the same blog you receive a gift from. That way we keep the mystery bit.
• One more thing: I’ve gotten a couple asks and messages now from whump blogs who don’t use OCs. I’m not trying to exclude you guys. If I repeat this event next year I’ll make sure to come up with a way for y’all to join in. This year, though, I just can’t make that work- I have a lot going on, and I think keeping it to OCs only for this year will help me not get overloaded- the last thing I want is to have five hundred or more blogs sign up, get overwhelmed, and shut the whole thing down because I can’t handle that much this year. That being said, I have no problem if someone wants to set up a version of this for fandom whump creators this year. Y’all deserve Christmas fun too, and I’m sorry that I can’t be the one making that happen this Christmas. Next year if I repeat this, I’ll fix it so that it’s all one big event!

Hello, I have recently realised I might like this 'whump' stuff, I like Farscape and some animes because of stuff that seems to be called whump.
How do I get started in the community? Can I write stories? Do they have to be fan fiction or can they be original stories?

i'm not quite sure what "farscape" is, but if you think you like whump, then i'm all for that!
honestly, there's a number of ways you can get involved with the community: some people write, some draw/create art, some make moodboards or playlists, and some just consume content! there's no wrong way to do it.
you can write either fanfic or original content, there's an audience for both! i would say, though, that creating an "intro post" could also really help you to get involved with the community. writing what some of your favorite tropes are, what you'll mostly be writing, and tagging some of your favorite blogs!

I wasn’t going to do a bingo until the summer, but I sorta got inspired while watching late night re-runs. So I now present the Friends Writing Challenge! Like all others, there will be a prize to someone who participates! (Note it may not be a fic - I haven’t decided).

Rules:
1. Start date: 4/5/21. End date: 4/23/21.
2. Pick a prompt or two. Or do all of them. No pressure - this is supposed to be fun!
3. All works of art welcome. One shots, drabbles, moodboards, whatever your fancy. If your story is more than 500 words, you must use a keep reading. One square per fic (note: multi-chapters can use more than one square, but it must be one per chapter). Fics can be smutty; angsty/whump; fluff; whatever your heart desires. Hi Kal!! Hope you’re doing well too! Sorry it took a while to reply, but I’m very grateful for the ask, and these are some very questions you picked! Here are my answers:

10. Pick an author (or writing friend) to co-write a book with
I don't even have to hesitate with this one. I'd pick @nharidy and we'd either write the most insane, niche thing catered to our specific tastes on every level, OR we'd anonymously write a story based on every trope we hate, just to see how long we can keep up the facade before we implode on ourselves.
14. What does it take for you to be ready to write a book? (i.e. do you research? outline? make a playlist or pinterest board? wing it?)
It really depends on the story in question! Sometimes it requires a bit of research (Ex. cost of dollars to euros, geography, historical timelines, etc.), sometimes a little more, and sometimes I leave those details to fill in later and just wing the whole thing LOL.
Something I always do is choose a font for a particular story, so most of my fics were actually written with different fonts. Sometimes it sets the mood or helps me shift gears in my head. When I can’t think of anything, I just default to comic sans LOL. Otherwise, I’ve used cambria, verdana, etc.
I only do outlines in my head asdfasdf. I only ever did a moodboard once for substitution because that was a project that was very visual to me. I can’t really concentrate when I’m writing while listening to music (unless someone else is playing near me), so oddly enough I have these pseudo-constructed playlists in my head. I’ll listen to a song or two before or after I write for the mood, but never when I write.
So forever thankful to @spiny-norman for creating the Dies Irae playlist! Definitely something I return to from time to time, and it introduced me to a lot of great artists and music! It’s also a million times better than absolute random plethroa of songs I listened to while writing adsfaf
21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?
I like to believe that my writing is “visual”? I try to treat everything as a screenplay or storyboard, even if it’s a prose story, so that the image can read as it would on screen.
Besides that, I’m unironically proud of how often I write Andres whump LOL
34. Unpopular writing thoughts/opinions?
Get ready for an insane take! I think writing in chronological order is the best way to write, including all descriptions, dialogue, etc. Of course, I go back and edit it all later (including adding and shifting scenes if need be), but I honestly can’t write out of order. My mind blanks if I do that and I can’t get into the emotion of a particular scene. So for me anyway, it’s best to write everything from start to finish just so I have a clear idea of the story’s timeline and the kind of emotion it needs. I like to feel the same thing as the narrative during the climax, which is why writing in order helps me “nurse” those feelings every step of the way.
I guess another unpopular take is that I think epitaphs are fine. I really don’t mind seeing “the other man, the redhead, etc.” so long as it doesn’t jar the writing flow (Ex. I’ll never refer to Tokyo as “the ravenette thief” or something lmao).
