Screw it I’ve been looking for a list of vore tropes and stuff and can’t seem to find any! so you know what I’m going to make my own.

(Almost all of these I imagine as safe or has the option to be safe.)

Feel free to use this as an ask game too!

Story tropes:

Knight in shining armor (protection vore)

A heroic meal (protection vore but eating the bad guy)

Dragons sacrifice (poor soul(s) offered to a monster)

A bet (stupid idea + pride leads to shenanigans)

Feral/ lost to instincts (pred looses control of themselves)

Oh no you don’t! (Pred keeping prey from doing something stupid)

Tummy time out (prey annoyed/upset pred too much and ended in tummy as punishment)

Extreme cuddling (just as it says. both wanna be cozy together and what better way than inside a tum?)

dentist (thorough cleaning but with its own risks of being eaten due to being within a mouth)

vore spa day (covered in delicious smelling oils and products and given a deep massage deep into a pred)

magic! (Potions or spells making this small and safe)

sci-fi (aliens and other biological/scientific shenanigans leading to vore)

willingly “sacrificed” to a god

food play (from noodles to cakes and icecream get creative and have fun!)

Saved from drowning (merfolk or lifeguard making sure someone gets the air they need inside where they will be safe)

hide and eat (hide and seek but the seeker is very hungry~)

Any taur vore (from nagas to centaurs, to driders, to anything you can think of!)

edible clones (best way to remove extras is to eat them!)

high vore (they either got high from the prey or the pred was high and got munchy)

kidnapping (best way to ensure transportation and that they won’t get away)

object vore (from a small key to a fricken box tv. The bulges are always a fun plus)

Come and get it~ (pred ate item/person prey needs so they have to go down to get it)

sick (pred needs something to settle their stomach, or prey wants to hide away from the world and their troubles.)

comfort (help ground a pred during a panic attack. Help hide prey from anxieties)

A different form of love (other species licking and gently swallowing their loved ones as signs of affection.)

healing vore (stomach juices heal things alive and break apart anything dead.)

tough soft guy. (Scary/intimidating with a soft spot for one special prey.)

multiple prey (weather the pred was gluttonous or overwhelmed both are good.)

overprotective (either pred or prey but they are possessive of their friend they aren’t allowed to be eaten by/eat anyone else!)

teasing (being charismatic or using double meaning words to get a snack or message across~)

domestic (a happy couple/ roommates sharing some nomes after cleaning together or getting things settled from the days adventures.)

robot (safely store items and prey at optimal temperatures and in a safe environment until threat has passed, or scans are completed, etc)

mine! (Hoarding things where NOONE can get to without their permission)

strings/equipment included (keeping prey on something to help them get out, though it may or may not fail depending on the pred)

demons deal (you got what you want and what they want in return is a nice meal~)

(This feels like a soulmate, or a higher self. I feel more romantic vibes. For some it can be an inner child tho or a childhood friend, you may try to connect with them but are often disturbed by something or someone and can never actually reach for them -either in the 5d or 3d- and it may have even feel upsetting to you or you may just feel upset for anything really. It may also be someone you're trying to manifest like your destined partner)

Life is made of light and darkness, and so are we: but you are able to shine bright like no one else. you mentioned the saga has too many side characters for a love story. In your opinion - who could be removed, without having their disappearance effecting the overall story? Personally i feel like Esme and Emmett could be taken out and there wouldn't be so much that'd change. But i never really thought about others. I guess the movies did well with removing Lauren and Ben.

My dilemma is that I LOVE all the side characters. By and large I find them more interesting than the mains. BUT because Twilight is, after all, a romance . . . there's just not a lot of 'room' for the side characters. Which is probably why I find them interesting! Because we get just enough information about them that I want to know more, but also leaves plenty of room for headcanons and personal interpretations.

But since romances are always about the central couple, there's just really no need for so MANY characters in this series. The movies were smart to combine some of the human high school characters to get the numbers down there, but since most of the other characters don't have any arcs or storylines of their own, they could have been cut or combined too. Does the wolfpack 'need' Paul AND Jared? Do Brady and Collin do anything? Do we really 'need' three Volturi leaders and all those guards? Do we 'need' all those visiting vampires in covens of 3-4, or could we have had more solo vamps or just pairs?

And yes, with the Cullens, it's absolutely Esme and Emmett. And I love them! They're some of my favorites! But in terms of the plot you just don't need them. You need Carlisle as the creator of Edward and for all the times the plot calls for a doctor. You need Alice as the facilitator of the romance and the quirky friend you often see in romances. Plus, her power plays a large role in the plot. Jasper has the New Moon attack and the history with newborns which becomes relevant in Eclipse. And Rosalie becomes important in Breaking Dawn, and she had a fun slightly antagonistic vibe. But you could cut out Emmett and Esme and the plot would not meaningfully change. In fact, in some way, it might improve.

For example I never really got why Edward was so hopeless about ever finding love when he has examples in his own family/coven of it taking a long, long time to find a partner. It took Jasper almost 100 years. It took Carlisle about 250. Rosalie and Emmett were outliers! Edward being all "forever alone" after 90 years as a vampire always felt a little off, like, there's still time. He's roughly at the age Jasper was when he met Alice. But if Carlisle and Rosalie were also still single, that makes Edward's hopelessness make a bit more sense. Like "if Carlisle the Amazing has not found a partner in 350 years what hope do I have?" or whatever.

Or you could try to combine characters. A Jasper/Emmett hybrid miiiiiight work. Emmett's backstory never matters, but you would have to sacrifice some elements of each of their personalities. I don't think making Rosalie Carlisle's wife/Edward's mother would work at all though. Feels wrong just to put it into words. Would combining Alice and Esme, making her Carlisle's wife/Edward's mother, and then having Rosalie with the Jasper/Emmett hybrid be better? Ugh, no, still doesn't work.

I think they all gotta be single, with Alice/Jasper the only couple. And then, yeah, the Edward/Bella thing would feel more miraculous. It was always funny to me it was like "oh no! the love between a human and vampire is forbidden and/or never works out well!" when literally in Edward's own family there were two couples who met when one was still human. I mean admittedly Emmett was minutes from death but still, technically, Rosalie and Carlisle both ended up with humans they 'saved.' Then there's Benjamin going back for Tia; Aro choosing human Sulpicia, like, it's not that usual. But you erase the R/Em and C/Es couples and then, sure, Ed/B seems more rare and impossible.

Ultimately, though, rather than cut characters I'd rather expand to the story to be more of an ensemble fantasy adventure WITH a romance rather than a romance that dips in and out of fantasy adventure. You can have a central character, and even a central romance, and still develop side characters and let them have their own arcs. Jasper could have actually had an arc about overcoming his thirst instead of just sulking about how Bella is so good at it. Carlisle could have had something about actually convincing some vampires to become vegetarian. Alice discovering her human origins could have had more of a meaningful effect on her characterization rather than just being something she infodumps on Bella as a fun bit of trivia. Esme and Emmett could have had plot-relevant reasons to exist rather than Rosalie and Carlisle just needing partners. And Ed/B's romance could still have been the centerpiece.

Y/n is a rather mediocre Lady, who came from an extremely disparate family, where everyone hates each other. Therefore, after you settled in the Royal House, you well understood and shared the King's desire for a friendly family. You even once had a heartfelt conversation on this topic. You told him about all the cruelty you went through, and he complained, that all his attempts immediately crumble to dust. You both agreed, that it's not fair.

But it's not that important.

You must marry the eldest son of Princess Rhaenyra. But your future husband has made it clear, that you are not the girl he would like. You yourself weren't thrilled with him from the very beginning, but it's still a shame. But, you have found kind and affectionate company in the face of the Queen's children. At first, Prince Aemond was nice to you, to make his nephew uncomfortable, but quickly melted in front of you. The same thing happened with Aegon. Helaena initially sensed the good in you and was supportive. Plus, you didn't find insects disgusting, and moreover, spiders played an important role in your family, which, undoubtedly, adds points to you.

Let there be nothing romantic in your hugs and kisses, but there is something more, something much pure and warmer. With Helaena, it was possible to be endlessly comfortable to be silent next to. With Aegon, you can chat endlessly about everything in the world. And Aemond can be endlessly listened to. You and the royal children always hugged, as a good morning and good night. Aemond took off his eye patch in front of you, when you applied ointment from your house to his scar, pushing back the edges of the eye patch. Helaena told you everything, that was in her head. Aegon listened, almost obey to you. You loved them with all your heart, and always protected them, even though you should marry soon. The Princes kissed your hands, the Princess kissed your cheeks, and you kissed their foreheads.

But you infuriate Prince Daemon to the depths of his soul. He's mad at you, for making him jealous of his niece's eldest son, as soon as you were introduced, as his betrothed. He was infuriating, because you hugged the daughter of Alicent. He did not fully understand, why he was so angry at the inaction and indifference on the part of your future husband. He's angry, that Aemond is teaching you an ancient language. You made him want to be in the place of these children. He's trying to stifle it all in himself, but it's getting harder every day. The Prince Daemon may be silent, but his insides are on fire. His nephews are deliberately provoking him, probably. The tension, that comes from Daemon in your direction, can be chopped with an axe. His jaw is tightly clenched, and his gaze follows you. And you're not afraid of him. And it pisses him off. And he adores it.

You've always ignored the sharp and attentive gaze of their uncle, following you around. Yes, he is much more beautiful, than his, um... Well, let's say, son, kind of? But, no, you don't need that. You've heard a lot about his reputation and, so to speak, love historys. You don't really want to go into the details of this family, you've had enough of your own, thanks. Even if you are indifferent to everyone, except your Princes and Princess, well, okay-okay, you like the King too, but you will behave properly. Yes, you may not be the most fragile Lady, but you are principled.

Daemon heard your conversation with Viserys. Daemon has seen and heard, that you can listen and keep secrets. Daemon feels, that you are more complicated, than just a kind bride. Daemon saw in you a caring, but strong and domineering Queen.

My friend this is a story on its own, and it is amazing, you do not need me to write it. This looks awesome and I can just imagine Daemon's face turning all red whenever she does something to annoy him and he is more annoyed over the fact that all he feels is butterflies instead of being annoyed. I just love him so much.

Welcome to my AO3 Wrapped 2023, where I take a look at some of my favourite fics from 2023 (one bookmark per month). 

There were so many amazing fics in 2023, so many new people and friends I met because of fanfic <3 So here’s to a very good 2024, full of words and worlds!

January-

The Fine Line Between Hormones and Home by seekingmoonscapes (Bad Buddy: The Series)

In an almost canon universe where the only difference is that it is omegaverse, Pat is an omega, and Pran is an alpha. And during one of his heats, Pat is at home, and decides to ask Pran for a shirt with his scent to help with his heat. But instead, he asks Pran for help in other ways. Fic where the porn IS the plot, everything is super consensual, and sexy and hot. Alternating POV, so on Pran’s pov we get to see all the pining.

February - 

If Never Again, If Every Day by gallifreyburning and takiki16 (The Old Guard)

This fic was wonderful from beginning to end. For reasons, 2021 Nicky goes back in time to Jerusalem and his first death at Yusuf's hands. Meanwhile, 1099 Nicolò goes forward in time to 2021 and meets Joe. It's heartbreaking and loving and funny and so full of love. Nicky and Joe miss each other even when around their younger versions. But the love they feel for each other is stronger than that. Wonderful story, happy ending.

March - 

Wooing the Water Tribe by lenaballena (ATLA) @dameferre

Sokka has been living in the Fire Nation as Zuko's second in power and his best friend and everything. When Katara comes to visit, Sokka thinks Zuku is courting her. And he realizes he is also in love with his best friend. Lots of pining. There's absolutely no courting of Katara. It's also really funny. My heart broke for Sokka at some moments.

April - 

The Grand Unified Theory of Shen Qingqiu by 00janeblonde (SVSSS)

WIP - This story is all fluff and no angst, like the tags say, slice of life and it's wonderful. SQQ dies at Maigu Ridge, and is offered to acquire the Game Plus, where he can go back to the past with his cultivation and memory intact, and try again. Doing that he discovers that he is actually the real Shen Jiu reincarnated, and he can try to recover memory markers to be able to restart the "game" even before than when he first "transmigrated". His friendship with YQY becomes strong, LQG also becomes his friend (it's really sweet how he wants his friends back). Everything is very soft. Absolutely great teacher SQQ.

May - 

but for me, there is a storm by Authoress (Haikyuu!!) by @kiribakus

An epic pacific rim au. Hinata and Kageyama are both cadets who want to be Jaeger pilots, but they cannot get along. So they work really hard because they are their last hope to pilot a one of a kind Jaeger - a Kaiju/Machine hybrid. They solve their problems in the beginning (and then later they have more problems). Hinata and Kageyama are not the only main characters, other characters are also very important and have their own storyline and pov. This story is heartbreaking as well. There's MCD, and it made me cry so hard I got puffy eyes. It's a wonderful read, and very well written.

June - 

The UA Analyst Kid by RogueVector (BNHA)

Izuku meets the UA teachers before getting OFA and they see how good his analysis is, so they start to train him (together with some other heroes). But some things don't change and Izuku still meets All Might and gets offered OFA. This story is funny, sweet and with amazing relationships. Izuku is OP with his intelligence and training. All the teachers and heroes are so supportive and good. A really feel good story.

July - 

Deku? I think he’s some pro… by Clouds (BNHA)

After All Might told Izuku he can't be a hero, he finds himself in a forum used by some underground heroes and offers his analysis to them, since he can't be a hero, he will help them. The underground heroes think Izuku is some kind of retired pro when they ask for help analyzing some villains and all, and when they finally meet face-to-face they all decide to practically adopt Izuku and teach him to fight so he will have a chance to be a quirkless hero. It is amazing! Also, the relationship between Izuku and the underground heroes is more like friends than teacher-student, and it's amazing that way. (some All Might bashing - be warned)

August - 

Mobius by Foxquills (BNHA) @fox-quills

WIP - I love this story so much!!! Third-year Izuku is sent to the past because of a quirk accident, to the time both Shouta and Hizashi are third year students at UA. Problem is, according to Nedzu, time is constant, or a loop, so he can’t change anything in the past, and everything that has happened, will happen again. He becomes fast friends with both Shouta and Hizashi, and starts crushing on them as well. Both Hizashi and Shouta also start crushing on him. It is lovely. There’s pain. It’s awesome. (also omegaverse).

September - 

Factory Settings by Anonymous (Good Omens)

Post season 2 au, because Crowley follows Aziraphale to heaven. Things happen, and instead of Crowley, there is Raphael, without any memory of all the time he's lived as Crowley. Heaven and Hell are at it again. Aziraphale has no idea what to do, and he misses his Crowley. Muriel is a sweetheart. Both Aziraphale and Crowley/Raphael povs. Great story, feels very much canon.

October - 

Justice in Defiance by Foxquills (BNHA) @fox-quills

WIP - Aizawa is a hero turned villain who kills both heroes and villains alike. And one day Izuku finds him right after he kills someone. They fight. And now Izuku needs to know more. What made Aizawa turn????? To do that, he will also need Hizashi in his corner. Absolutely lovely story!!!! The povs are amazing. The feelings and pining are perfect.

November - 

If I Must Starve (Let it be in Your Arms) by Igneum807 (The Witcher)

So think about the softest story involving Jaskier and touch-starved witchers, and this is the result. During his travels alone, when he and Geralt go their different ways for a few weeks, Jaskier meets Geralt's brothers, who are just as touch and companionship-starved as Geralt was before meeting Jaskier. It's super soft and tender.

December - 

Cultivate: Slow Life on a Monster-Infested Mountain by NeonGhostCat (SVSSS) @neonghostcat

When SY transmigrates, the System tries to put him on SQQ's body, but SQQ is aware and is able to stop it from happening. The System then gives SY his own body, but something goes wrong with the system and SY is decided to not get involved with the plot, or with Cang Qiong Sect, and specially SQQ. He finds an abandoned mountain, with an abandoned house there and decides to stay there until he is strong enough if SQQ finds him and wants to kill him. Obviously things cannot be that simple. Now he is stuck on the mountain he can't get out of, every full moon night there are monster attacks and one day LQG appears on the Mountain, how can he get out of helping with the plot now? he's so hot like i swear. I feel like he's the type of yandere to worship or stalk his darling, and then when he finally has them in his clutches he goes all out.

Personal space? Wdym, it's Yuri's space too. You want some alone time? Well, you can be alone with Yuri!

I absolutely agree that Yuri is a worshiper and stalker type! I feel like, at the end of the day, he grows to admire anyone who can hold onto any type of goodness in the Ostania, especially in this day and age, is already an amazing person - now, add onto the fact this person is you in particular, with all your personality, tastes, talents, and personal attributes; he is in love.

I think it’d be even better if you two met because of his work when he was assigned to watch over civilians in a certain part of town that had reportedly been causing trouble, it just so happened he was assigned to you - at first it’s almost insulting how easy the job but it’s significantly less work than normal and he likes the fact it gives him some time to spend with his family.

He starts off as rather normal, at least compared to where he ends up, it’s just a crush, sure it’s taboo to get a crush on the person you’re surveillancing for the government of all things but he can’t help it. He excuses his stalking as him just doing his job, plus it’s basically just keeping tabs at the places you frequent and if there’s any suspicious activity; normal, if not plain boring, work for a guy like him so it’s nothing weird, he’s done worse things.

But when he hands off the report and his superiors dismiss you as a threat, he still finds himself watching over you but this time he starts going into even more personal details.

By the time he’s done, he doesn’t just know your birthday, blood type, frequented locations, address, work place, family, and acquaintances but he can list off things like your favorite book, your most used clothing item, your best friend’s name and their life story, your order at the cafe you like going to on Friday evenings with your work friend’s that is just down the street from your office, and more just from the top of his head. You would quickly realize that Yuri had memorized everything about you as if he would get tested on it.

You were just… such an amazing person, he was sure you were too perfect to be real. It’s no surprise he ended up sneaking into your house eventually nor that he grew quickly overstimulated by how much of you was around the house. As he looked over your belongings, he only grew more and more certain that he had to have you in his arms - you were simply too good, he had to protect you. Only he could do that, only he could save you from the corruption of the cruel world.

He already had a plan in mind, he would simply insert himself in your life and become an important factor in it - he would put his knowledge to use and seduce you, woo you into his arms and make sure to never let anything hurt you and to never let you go.

It takes some time but eventually, after months of hard work, Yuri finally has you where he needed you. Yes, needed, because this was never a want - no, it wasn’t a want, you needed him to protect you, to save you, to guard you, you just didn’t know that and he needed to make you see this. It was harder than he thought, if it wasn’t due to his training he probably would’ve broken down and declared his love for you the moment you two locked eyes, he had to wait until every night to finally let his giddiness come out as he’d go through the events of the day - mentally going through the timeline of you two first meeting and where you stood then - and it was so, so hard not to simply put a pretty cloth over your mouth and take you home with him.

Eventually, you start dating - totally not because he’d secretly taken out all of the filthy, dirty, worthless scum that dared get in the way of you two’s true love - and he feels his body shiver with electricity every time you’re together as a couple. Yuri is in bliss, he can’t help himself slowly grow loose with his affections, suddenly you’ll be hit with how clingy he could be. But, what did you expect? This is the man who has been stalking you for almost a year and who has been dreaming of holding you in his arms!

It’ll be so hard to deny him too, he’ll let it slip on purpose how hard he had it as a kid - no parents with only his sister! Isn’t that so sad? He’s only looking for the affection he never got as a kid. You’d be a monster to deny him!

And, it’s as if he’s doing anything bad - he isn’t hurting you or belittling you, if anything he’s worshiping you! - by being around you all the time, even if it can get rather tiring having him around you 24/7, it’s just one of his ways of showing love.

The other? Simple, getting rid of the world’s garbage! Well, maybe not the world but definitely Ostania’s. It’s all he’s ever known and it’s not like it bothers him - when you love someone it doesn’t matter how dirty your hands become as long as it’s for their benefit. That’s what he says to himself as he walks over your rather affectionate coworker, they were trying to get in the way - in your way. This was for you, he’d mumble as he stripped himself from the blood stained gloves, you needed him as much as he needed you.

He was simply making a better world for you to live in, one where your purity and good heart wouldn’t be corrupted by the scum that dared walk alongside you; one body at a time.

This man has such a soft and tinee voice, so I think he would just comfort you through speaking to you. Oh, marriage, 100%. This man could be with you for the rest of his life tbh. Maybe even kids if you wanted them. I think he just wants that iconic loving family like the one he never grew up in. I think he would love to adopt children with you and make a mini familia <3

He's a babygirl, but he is a dominant babygirl LMFAOOO. He literally becomes a capo at 15, so I think he would be the more dominant one tbh

You two don't fight often, but when you do, it is always resolved rather quickly through conversation. This man loves you way too much to just argue with you over stupid crap. So if there is an argument, the two of you will take a little time away from each other and then have a conversation. He thinks communication is very important, and wants you two do use it often <3

Oh, this man is so grateful for you <33 I think one of his love languages is acts of service, so when you two do some of those for each other, it makes him swoon and he can't thank you enough for everything you do for him <3

If you didn't know he was in the mafia before you dated, I think he would hide that from you for as long as he could because he didn't want you to get involved in anything dangerous but other than that, he is very open with you :)

I think you made him a little more open tbh. He's a pretty reserved guy and had a lot of past trauma he had to heal, but you helped him with that healing and made him more open to you. He now smiles a lot more and is much more social <3

Honestly, no. Mista jokingly flirts with you, but never crosses any lines and knows better than that. Plus, your friends are really cool, so Giorno isnt worried at all <3

He does let everyone know that you two are together. He never brags, but he never fails to mention you to others. However, he is not a big fan of PDA. He just prefers to have that aspect of your relationship be for the two of you only <3

Byler fic rec part two: extra long edition!

How is everyone doing?? It's been a while since my last fic rec post, which means, I've read a lot more fics and I can give you an extra long fic rec list to enjoy during the holidays. This doesn't mean they're holiday themed (but if you want that, let me know and I'll make a different post with ONLY holiday-themed recs!).

Be aware that when I say this is an Extra Long list, I mean it, that's why I'll start the actual list under the cut. As always, my fic recs DON'T feature nsfw. Enjoy!!

There’s a long lapse of silence, and then –

“Can you come up here?” In the wreckage, Mike and Will spend a series of nights together." This fic is amazing. Mike and Will share a room , and he tries hard to disconnect himself emotionally from the situation. But Mike wants to be friends again, makes the effort, and Will finds himself unable to refuse his friendship. They slowly work to build up their bond again, but it's tentative, and also new, because there's something different about it now. A fic FULL of longing, and amazing characterization.

it's a choice (getting swept again) by wiseatom | 9k words | canon compliant, fix it "The problem is this: they’ve got a lot of problems right now, and every last one of them is more important than Will and his fragile, bruised heart.

A Season 4 fix-it wherein Will has a lot of feelings, El is the best sister, and Mike Wheeler has emotional intelligence." The one in which Will learns he deserves good things, and that doesn't make him selfish, but it'd be okay if he was a little selfish and indulged himself. Mike here also has good communication skills and uses his words for once to voice his feelings!

i've come home, i'm so cold by astrobi | 53k words | set in canonverse, but they're in college and the vecna stuff is over "Will's trying his hardest to make it through fall semester in one piece. Unfortunately for his degree, he's being haunted by maybe-feelings for his best friend (metaphorically), and also a maybe-ghost with rather abysmal fashion sense (literally)." This is probably my favorite college fic. It's amazing, seriously, it has everything you could wish for and more! Will's and Mike's friendship is so good, you can tell how much they care and love each other, and how that means they're afraid to make a move so it doesn't affect the friendship they've rebuilt. It has a fun ghost sideplot, which doesn't have that much relevance because it's not what the story is about, but it is a plus! Read this if you're in the mood for something good, heartwarming and unresolved romantic tension between two best friends.

honey-mouthed by smoosnoom (moonsooms) | 10k words | They're in high school, no one died and everything is okay! “Do you want to go home?” He questions, leaning close and voice soft, and Will pauses, before nodding again. Mike lets out a breath, and lets his hand press against Will a little more firmly when he starts to sway in place again. “Okay, let’s go.”

Then he looks up and is met with smug faces, and Mike flushes when he realizes his own hypocrisy.

“I don’t talk like that,” Max recalls, voice high-pitched and overly girly and – Mike definitely doesn’t talk like that.

According to everyone in his life, Mike has a voice reserved just for Will. He tries to figure out what that says about him." This fic is about the Will Voice. Everyone is aware that mike speaks differently to Will, except him. When his mom makes him aware of this, well, it sends Mike into a crisis. Fun, sweet, and has the tag "Mike is a cringefail loser" so what more could you ask for?

you can hear it in the silence by astrobi | 36k words | in this universe the UD stuff happened but it's in the past and all is good "mike wheeler on losing people and having them again, the difference between wanting and needing, and finally letting go.

ft. robin buckley, will byers, and the mortifying ordeal of working in the food service industry" Am I ever going to stop including astrobi's fics in my rec lists? No, please go read everything they've written! Now this fic is not the exception. Mike has a job in a dinner. Everyone else has moved away for college, including Will, with who he has a long-distance friend(relation)ship, as they talk on the phone all the time. When Will comes back, well, Mike is finally forced to confront a thing or two. This fic is really Mike centric, which I love because Mike's pov-centric fics are probably my favorites. Also, it has Mike and Robin friendship, which we deserve more of!

all this time (how could you not know?) by astrobi | 27k words | Senior year of High School, UD happened but only has light mentions. Mike sighs, looking down at his hands. "I always thought I would end up with someone more similar to me, you know? Someone I can talk about, like, hobbies and music and stuff with, without them visibly losing interest halfway through.”

You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.

Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right? What did I tell you? yeah, another great piece by astrobi! This is 'Mike and Will with an enormous amount of pining and obliviousness: the fic'. It's about the party's senior year, and prom, so you know what all of this means. I LOVED the party's friendship here. It's something I could ramble more about, but it's better you should experience it yourself. Also, it made me have "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx on repeat for weeks.

spoonful of sugar by smoosnoom (moonsooms) | 6k words | college au “Just to be sure, you – what were you agreeing to?” Mike blurts. “Like, was it the seeing other people thing, or the kiss – the practice kissing thing? I was – I’m just making –”

“The second one,” Will forces out, feeling awkward to his very bones. “The – practice.”

Mike, somehow, turns even redder. “Right. Yeah. Okay.”

Mike offers to teach Will how to kiss. It goes well, all things considered." I think the summary is pretty self-explanatory. When you offer to teach your best friend (who you're in love with) how to kiss, well, it goes exactly how you'd expect. Fluff! They actually communicate!

i'd make a deal with god by smoosnoom (moonsooms) | 15k words | canon compliant "But he’s getting better. He’s getting better at it. Mike steps forward, and Will retreats. He’s getting better. “You’re avoiding me.” So, for Mike to barge into his room and demand an explanation for why Will has been pulling away – well, maybe he’s a little confused.

Will finally rips off the band-aid. Mike won't let him." This one ripped my heart off from my chest, made me tear up for real. Will's fears and feelings are so heartbreaking and so real here. He really wants to rip off the band-aid. He thinks it's the best for him and the best for Mike, but he's failing to consider something: Mike's feelings on the matter. So Will is avoiding him, but Mike won't let him. Will doesn't understand why, and it frustrates him to no end, because can't Mike just get it? But no worries! it has a happy ending. Just talking about this is making me want to re-read it.

i'm caught up in you by wiseatom | 18k words | S4 fix it, in the Upside Down edition "Mike keeps losing Will, time and time again. Time and time again, he always gets him back.

Or, alternatively: “Mike and Will’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Night in the Upside Down: and Other Tales” by Mike Wheeler" You heard it! Byler in the upside down in Mike's pov. Have I mentioned how much I love Mike's pov fics? yeah? well, that, and I also love Byler in the upside down fics. Which means this fic has two of my favorite things a fic could have. It also has a beautiful narration, which fits amazingly with Mike's character, who wants to be a writer! This is a must read.

Which is a big compliment coming from me. I truly believe the way Mike and his feelings are portrayed here fit perfectly with canon, what he feels and why. This one deals with grief, which I think is necessary and will be a big deal for Mike as a character in s5. And smoosnoom wrote it perfectly, so the Duffers better watch out. This is a long one that I read during one sleepless night. I don't regret it at all. It has the party as great friends, which i love reading about! Mike and Will's friendship is so special here, too, and we see them struggle with the pain of growing up, figuring out who you are, what you want, and fearing for the future. Will and Mike's friendship goes through ups and downs and misunderstandings, but there's always a chance to fix it and make it stronger. The confession scene here took my breath away, something that doesn't happen easily while i'm reading.

It’s to early in the morning for this but I have to get my thoughts out there.

In theory Caleo could have worked but in a completely different way that didn’t give us such a mess of a relationship. In my humble opinion caleo could have worked as a friend ship. As most people know love comes in many forms like familial, friendship, romantic, etc. if Rick really wanted to get calypso off the island they could have made her love Leo in a friend or family way.

I know that the curse says that Leo can’t leave the island unless he falls in love with her but with the way heteronormativity is he could have easily believed he loved her and learned later on that he felt the connection of a friendship/ family bond. Having Leo fall for her and then later on realize he doesn’t actually love her could have given him a much stronger character arc about learning to love himself and actually explore his sexuality. He could have easily gone back for her anyway at the end of BoO anyway if this would have been the case because now not only does he see her as an important friend but it also shows that friendships even without the prospect of romance is is just as valuable. Plus Leo wouldn’t be the type to just abandon someone if he lost romantic interests, it’s showed time and time again that he really values his friendship with the seven especially piper and Jason,

Honesty having him get with calypso to me reads like he is avoiding dealing with his personal stuff in favor of just forgetting all of his worries and issues because now he has a pretty gf. Having him jump into a relationship with someone he barely knows really just cuts whatever interesting thing that could have been done with Leo.

And even tho I love valgrace Leo doesn’t even need to end up with Jason by the end. Just having Leo learn to love himself or explore a new side to himself or allowing him to explore his sexuality would have been really interesting honestly. I found piper’s story on realizing she like girls similarly interesting but I wish we could have seen it developed more. Plus it would have been awesome to see WLW and MLM solidarity portrayed well if that was the case. Idk I’m probably just rambling because I genuinely don’t like caleo and I wish they could have done something more interesting with the concept of calypso getting off her island and Leo exploring himself.

Not only that but it could have give Rick the opportunity to expand on calypso that wasn’t just “I live on this island alone and I fall in love with guys a lot” he could have built on her resentment of being on the island or could have expanded on her and given her more than just her base personality. Hell calypso could have been great aro/ace or Cupid-asexual representation would have been amazing !!

For me Leo is a personal comfort character because he is Latino and I related to him a lot and with my experience with being a Latina lesbian dealing with heteronormativity. I was trying to void thinking about being a lesbian back then that I often just kept jumping from romantic crush on random dudes to other random dudes. Maybe I’m just projecting but honestly I wish they could have done more. Representation is important and I think that having Leo expanded on besides “he goes back for his gf who he barely has any chemistry with” would have been awesome

Sadly we didn’t get that and I’ll forever be forced to have valgrace/ Leo brain rot all the time

Yes, I watched it yesterday and I totally love it. It was an emotional rollercoaster, I cried a few times and then smiled wide to the screen-

I totally LOVE all of the future designs DAMN LOOK AT RAINE THEY LOOK SO AWESOME (also can we talk about them and Eda switching earrings? I love that little thing). LOOK AT HUNTER AND WILLOW TOO, matching Flapjack tattoos!? I'm not crying you are-

I'll miss TOH a lot, I hope we will get some more content because it was AMAZING - story, characters and how they showed it - all of it 💜

And I could honestly go on and on for HOURS about it because there's so many little details that should be mentioned:

I loved the final fight with green and red fighting for place on the screen - these are opposing colours, which is already cool, plus, their meaning is different than usually! Green is life, peace, safety. Red is alarming, dangerous, unsafe. But here? Green is gooey evil and red is lively red grass and YOU FEEL IT INSTANTLY. Despite the usual connotations with these colours you see what's good and what's bad and I LOVE IT. Also, we have two types of light in here - glowing, cold, blue Belos' eyes and Luz's warm, yellowish light. THESE ARE OPPOSING COLOURS TOO. And forms - crystallized goo forms the sharp-edged web, triangle-based forms. Grass is soft, it doesn't have sharp edges. Same with eyes and lights - eyes have corners, somehow squeeze into the whole picture and lights just fly around freely so you can see their perfectly round shape everywhere. Awesome usage of colour theory and shapes <3 And of course I can't skip the thing that light was needed to release someone from the puppet form, right? Luz is the light. It's literally her name. Something that looked like an aesthetic thingy and the least useful spell in combat (after all, fire, ice, plants were used more often) turned out to be THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. I literally have a temptation to rewatch the whole show just to analyze the lighting in different scenes, damn.

I love how the Collector is designed, too. If it was any other villain in the world, their sudden change would feel weird and meh, but they are a KID. And they're created and presented like one. They do not understand things, they just want to play and do not get why others don't wanna. As a bullied child, who had no friends for a while, damn I understood them so well in that moment. They changed as soon as people started treating them like a child and not like an enemy. Isn't it lovely? Also, the change was SO WELL MOTIVATED. Collector didn't decide to help them because Luz died. Damn, for how long did they know each other? Probably not more than an hour, children get attached easier, but I doubt it'd be that easy. Collector just UNDERSTOOD WHAT DEATH IS IN THAT MOMENT and realized that their actions had, have and will have consequences. Again, I LOVE it.

Final scene with Belos is awesome, too. He is himself to the very end. Tries manipulating Luz after all of the stuff that already happened - showing himself in his "original" human form, pleading, making himself a victim... And then it starts raining. He is dissolved by the acid which made me literally gasp. I mean, damn, you could put it in a Disney series!? TOTALLY AWESOME. There was something sometime about witches dying from water, dissolving in it, so... This scene hit hard, had its meaning and was totally amazing and well planned.

And the final final scene in the future. I rewatched it SO. MANY. TIMES. There's so much to look at, so many actions going on in the background, daaaaamn <3 It makes me go "why couldn't we see more, stupid Disney" EVEN HARDER!!! World building is so well done and you can see it even in a little scenes like that,,, All of the characters grew and glow brightly. About glowing - THERE'S LIGHT EVERYWHERE. These scenes have lots of soft glows and lights around that are not only making the atmosphere, they have a meaning, because light, Luz, was what saved the demon realm.

I adore Hunter being a palisman maker. Literally no better job for this lovely boy. And I love that he has people that love him - Willow and Dadrius (I literally screamed when I saw Darius next to Hunter when everyone else had their reunion [and I also loved Amity-Alador reunion. With loser Odalia standing right next to them, all grumpy]). I love love loooooveeee working on a taking off sigils feat. Darius, Raine and Alador. Two ex-coven heads, who started rebellion, and amazing scientist, inventor, who learned how to choose his own way (isn't his history similar to the Amity's? Escaping Odalia's influence and getting to start new, better life...). And the best part - they finally succeeded, mixing healing magic with technology. SUPER COOL (Little Darius-Alador interaction was super cool, too, of course. Alador has NO CLUE so much- And Darius with this little chest touch and sliding away... Please we all know they're fruity don't we?). I'd love to hear more about all of the things that happened in between, when Luz was finishing school, because there's still so much possible content!

Also I cannot skip the masterpiece "they're almost gone! Say BYE!", obviously targeted to us, fans, not to Collector. But... It made me thinking. Aren't we like Collector, too? Taking the characters, placing them in the fanfics, fanarts, fancomics, aus, PLAYING WITH THEM? It probably wasn't supposed to be that deep but... In my head it became that deep LOL. So... Are we Collectors?

Okay, okay, I could analyze every single one of future designs, too, because I adore them, I could analyze Amity's designs change, gradually switching from Odalia-like to Alador-like, but I wanted to answer short and made quite an essay here already- So maybe, to summarize: I loved the finale. It was well planned and well done. It's amazing that they managed to fit it all in with limited time, without it feeling overly rushed and/or unsatisfying. I feel satisfied with the ending we got.

the epilogue!! I hadn't even had chance to gush about hour 24 and the epilogue is already here! both are just so amazing. I'm actually really glad for the time difference because I have woken up in the best mood now because of this🖤🖤

Him coming straight back for her in the last hour was just perfect. They get thier movie moment and it's so satisfying, 'I'm not very good with giving you space, it seems' 😍 very Edward Cullen 'I'm tired of trying to stay away from you' and I mean that as a huge compliment because I really did love twilight back in the day 🙈 And then the way she kisses him in between talking smack about him, just like he did to her the first time! Think this was my favourite part, besides her slapping Steve and Eddie immediately becoming scary dog. Or maybe Steve getting all flustered at the thought of them doing stuff. All of it was just perfect. Did the ending change for you as you continued writing, or did you have it planned that way from the beginning? I love how he uses the same line from the prologue, 'the feelings mutual' don't mind me, just swooning over here 🖤

And then the epilogue! Awe my gosh it was the perfect mix of everything that's happened in this fic. The pining and yearning is still there because they're hiding it from the others, both of them wanting to just come clean and be out in the open with eachother but not being ready. And her hiding how she's in love with him now. Hiding it from their friends because she's still hiding how she feels about him. Genius. And then the humour and just how well they fit together and how they sass eachother. I love it so much. Plus the smut 🔥 the best part of the smut, the part he was more desperate for than anything else when they were in his kitchen. Loved that you did that. Hot and romantic all at once 🖤

Eddie being so worried about keeping it from Nancy was really sweet, it makes it really clear that their friendship is such a good one, like when R says later on about them combining the best parts of eachother. Plus Nancy just knowing that things had changed. Maybe due Eddie's sudden lack of pining about R to her. Or just that it's in her nature to notice things. It's a really great part of this story, Steve and Robin's friendship is obviously written a ton due to the show, but I really like how you gave Eddie a similar platonic relationship of his own. I also like how Nancy confirms that Eddie talked about her a whole lot, even when sober. mainly because of Steve saying to her during that phone call that Eddie didn't really talk about her at all, it just wasn't to Steve.

The photo! 😍 Aaahh this was so precious. Him mentioning pictures especially at the phone shop and then him choosing that photo as his lock screen, he's just so slushy for her I can't stand it. found it hilarious that he purposefully let her wear his shirt to meet them, maybe wanting her to be the one to out them, but then it's him showing off the phone 🤣 and then neither of them are really sorry for it. My heart is bursting!

But. My absolute favourite part of this was the flashback to when he goes to get her, how she explains that she doesn't want or need to start over. That their past is just as important as their future and they shouldn't disregard it or forget. Not to hold on to the awful parts but because it means they know eachother now. At least that's how I take it, her saying that felt just as important as her 'I love you'. Making him realise again that even with all that they went through she'd never want to forget him or not chose him, like he was so worried about from the very start. It was the perfect thing to say to him. Such great writing, honestly.

I can't believe it's over already! You should be so proud, 100% not too much or unrealistic. Perfect. I'm so glad we all watched a random Netflix show and it inspired all this. Can't wait to get stuck back into Mordor and catch up. Much love! 🖤🖤

i can’t explain how much your long comments have always made my day, not even just with this fic but with shire as well. the fact you take time out of your day to let me into your brain after you’ve read just makes my lil writer’s heart so happy. it’s like, i kinda cracked open my skull and went “hey, here’s what’s inside!” and you just don’t hesitate to do the same right back and gah 😭 thank you so fucking much. i adore you.

there is so much to say here, but you pretty much hit all of the nails on the head. yes, 1000% i adored giving nancy and eddie that platonic friendship similar to robin and steve (nancy deserves to have more guy friends who aren’t turned into love interests in my opinion), i loved writing how eddie and r’s dynamic both changed but also really managed to stay the same, and i really loved bringing that flashback up. i think that’s the important part: they can’t erase that night. it’s part of their story. if i were r, i wouldn’t want to erase it — eddie may have already been in love with her, but that night was her getting to fall in love with him (or at least begin to).

as for the question of how the ending changed… the short answer is, no. i always knew i wanted to end with them on a good note. choosing each other despite all the shit that went down.

but the long answer? yes, it changed so very much. originally, hour 24’s events would be the epilogue. originally, the final hours between those two were going to be very angsty. for a very long time, eddie’s confession was going to be very different. a lot more vague and lot more left unsaid. there was meant to be an entire hour that would only be a singular line of “eddie didn’t return to the apartment for the entire hour.” in which he completely walked out on her after indirectly admitting he was in love with her.

the honest truth is i got more attached to their story than i had planned. similar situation has happened with mordor. i tend to plan a lot of my fics to have fairly sad/angsty endings, and i’ve always been that way as a writer in every fandom i’ve ever been in, but something about eddie makes it impossible for me to not give him a happy ending.

in every timeline, in every universe, in every situation — i just want to give him a happy ending.

and maybe some of my fics would be more epic or impactful if i stuck with those sad endings, but i think eddie went through enough in canon, and i think real life is cruel enough as it is. i think we all deserve soft epilogues. i think eddie deserves them, those of us who write him deserve them, and those of us who read the stories deserve them. idk. i’m getting a little overly sentimental but… yeah. i think i just want to write 100 happy endings for this fictional idiot, probably more, and i hope you all enjoy it as much as i do.

Have never done anything like this before but I wanted to participate because why not!

Hope I'm doing this right- this is for the RedactedAudio Match-up :)

1 - Ok so I have 2 song fixations, first one is "Used to the Darkness" by Des Rocs and the other is "Morning Coffee" by Chevy and Nalba

For Used to the Darkness the specific verse is the chorus, it's a bit long for tumblr but I'll give my reasoning. I've always loved this kind of rock because it reminds me of the 90s rebellion kind of era and this verse strikes me as 'society has forced me down by its standards and is leaving me in the dust because I've "made a mistake", but I'm going to fight because my life hasn't started yet and I'm too young to simply give up'. Every time I hear that chorus it gives me a second wind of sorts and reminds me to just keep going, to keep being stubborn and to keep being me unapologetically.

For Morning Coffee there is no specific line because I resonate with the whole song lol. I'm a very big coffee addict, like I need coffee or tea every day to make it feel right. The reason being is that it's a small comfort treat to help me feel better especially when some days just aren't the best and I need a pick me up to feel better, even if it's a little bit. I listen to this every morning on my commute and every afternoon on the way back home, it's such a big comfort song that I keep on repeat.

2 - 6! (subtype sp) 3 - I love a good video essay! My favourite ones are a bit niche but I especially love SovietWomble's essay about "The Forest" because it's a deep dive critique and explanation of what happens when lore is added to a game post-release and why it's so important to develop it as a whole rather than doing it in bits as it can be the difference of an amazing or completely underwhelming experience. As someone who writes for fun and loves to play games soley for the lore sometimes, I found it useful to develop and hone my skills in world-building and making my stories more coherent. Also because he did a face reveal at the end BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!

4 - Gosh I haven't talked about my imaginary friend in a bit, her face evades me but I remember she would always help me sleep or play with me when no one else did (so everyday basically). She always wore a yellow dress and had her hair up in pigtails. I never gave her a name because she never needed one, I just called her 'friend', I miss her

5 - Put on a redacted audio vid and fall asleep to that lmfao (usually a david vid)

6 - I honestly don't know what I'd change my name to, sometimes I just wish I didn't really have a name because my self identity fluctuates so much

You’re both similar in a lot of ways- a love of debate, prone to Acts of Service, Type Sixes who are loyal, thoughtful, and reliable. It’s these similarities but also the differences that make me think you’d be compatible. Avior and his sarcastic, sharp nature would be good at keeping your people-pleasing chaos in check. OLIVIE OH MY GOD I LOVE THE ANSWER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS YES SO MUCH LIKE SO SO SO MUCH. I loved each individual story and this book is tabbed an insane amount and sometimes there are 4 tabs per page- hold on I’ll include a picture at the end so you can see-lol I feel like normally I don’t show you because honestly no one should see evidence of my brain’s insanity but idk I feel like sharing this time? (Also please note I am Aries so just depending on my chaotic energy that day I will tab anything that I want. Sometimes it’s stuff that makes me laugh, things that I’m like oh maybe this is important, quotes I’m obsessed with, things that make me think, etc, I really just tab anything I want plus it helps me focus. I also just have some good old OCD that makes my brain decide that if I skip over tabbing something I even thought for one second should have a tab then the world is going to punish me somehow so then I must go back and tab it so that the obsession stops and the world (or at least the world in my brain) is at peace (love brains woo). This collection had me swooning at times, screaming at times (in both a OH MY GOD kind of way and an angsty my heart hurts kind of way), sad at times (I did tear up), laughing at times, and it just made me so happy. Anway, this book was truly the perfect way to end what I’m calling my Olivie year aka 2022 in general (I finished it on NYE it was perfect). I have not stopped thinking about this book since I read it. Writing this is going to be so hard because I have to leave out so many things that I loved just for the sake of space and time and everything, but hopefully one day I’ll get to see you on one of your tours again and talk your head off about it. (P.S please come to Pittsburgh for your TAC tour and celebrate in Libby’s hometown please-I know,I know you go where your publishers send you but still please)

I will say I will always have a special connection to this book (and the audiobook of LPM which I also listened to in December which was amazing the narrator was so good with all the accents and everything-refueled my love of Elisabeth and I still want one of the romance books on her and Jack hahah) just because December was an awful month on the top of an awful year and this book was really here when I needed it most. 2022 for me was a year of grief (it’s true what they say it always comes in 3s), failure, and just Murphy's law. Not one of my favorite years (I survived though as always so we are good now haha),but reading your books/watching your success this year were some of my happiest parts. I know I haven’t been here since the beginning or anywhere close to it but still seeing all your success made me so proud and so happy for you, you deserve it <3. I think fate let me find your books in 2021 because it knew I would need them in 2022. Enough with the mush for now, also you told me not to apologize about my rambling and I am holding my tongue not to, but I think I might make this one two parts-well three because Saints and Liars is going to get its own so if you have only time to day to read one part I suggest that one-to make it not so overwhelming (because I am incapable of just liking something to a normal degree)-but I should have said it towards one of the first ones please never feel like you have to actually reply to these they have always just been to hopefully bring you some happiness and appreciation that I hope you can feel through the screen more than anything. Also spoilers of course for any other people in the universe that may read this.

Oh wait I didn’t share but one of my best friends and I have a tradition of sending each other one of our favorite books of the last year and this was actually the one I sent her! I needed someone to obsess over it with me. She loved it too btw she texted me how obsessed she is with margoalec and cecilyporter she loves them so much.

Stone’s Throw: I was automatically intrigued just based on “trips and falls into another realm”. This felt very atlas vibes with all the dimensions/portals/ley lines. I just loved Salim and Jenny together, their relationship felt very soulmates/invisible string/the universe just drawing them together and you know I love those. The theme of them being mirrors of each other in some ways and two threads through the eye of one needle ugh I just love stuff like that I ate it up. From the moment she got the fax from the other dimension I was trying to figure out who it was from. My first thought was “oh wouldn’t it be cool if it was from his brother” and then slowly in the story I convinced myself that was not  going to be it, so I was very proud of myself when it was finally revealed. This story just felt so unique and I love jumping portals and alternate universes and stuff so it was so fun! 

-Some moments I loved: Jenny putting an exclamation point in her email to prevent herself from sounding as irritated as she felt because I do that very frequently too haha. The way you wrote how it looked and felt going through the portal was so cool I could really see it in my head and was like “woah this is trippy”. HOW HE WAS HER ONLY TRACE OF FAMILIAR AND THAT SHE BELIEVED HIM WHEN NO ONE EVER DOES. And of course it was your signature horny characters hahah. The title of the book and the story appearing THE BEST. 

-Some quotes I enjoyed/reactions to them:

“Whatever it was, it was destructive and cruel even while it was handsome. It treated flattery like a noose and wielded poison like a blade.” I just really like that line. I don’t really know why but idk it resonated somehow with me. 

“Is he yours?” AHHH

“Sleep was not an option. Jenny let her restless feet carry her elsewhere, to the only place she felt even remotely recognizable as herself” AND IT'S TO HIS ROOM AWWW

“His kiss, when it met hers, was fragrant with gratitude, lush with it. He opened for her as she had for him, and suddenly she thought she understood it. Portals and passage. She pulled him closer the way she would have sprinted towards something unmissable, a train leaving the station. She pried open the doors of his reservations and in response he was alight, whisking her off the platform. She felt the edges of herself blur with his, his sadness becoming hers, his loneliness cloaking her shoulders. She bled her hope into his mouth, her art, her practiced hand at beauty. She poured the meditation of her entire being into his soul.” THEM THIS AHHH LOVE

“Jenny looked up, catching his eye as Salim drank what remained of his wine, and the corners of her lips flicked upwards, helpless to a smile. He could feel himself smiling broadly at her in return, everything suddenly dulling to singular, undeniable clarity. I understand, he wanted to say, I understand now what it means to search, and he reached out, taking her hand and observing the way surprise registered on her face.” he understands what it means to search and it’s to her I’m emo 

“Jenny felt Salim's chest hitch at her touch, his sharp inhale errantly mislaid. "I didn't expect it," he said hoarsely, apologetically, and she knew he meant I didn't think we would be like this, two threads through the eye of one needle. She knew he meant: I would have liked to have offered you less, to have asked for nothing in return.” SCREAMING I LOVE THIS

“It was hard to explain what happened when she met Salim. She took one look at his face, far younger than she'd expected, and felt something she could only call a sensation; another sign. Some intangible sense of purpose, of destiny and satisfaction, absolution and relief. She looked at Salim Amrani and knew, somehow, that the answer to her question was yes. “ DESTINY AND HE WAS THE ANSWER UGH OBSESSED

"We are always only a stone's throw from collapsing into another form of ourselves, in versions of lives we cannot relinquish. Luckily, the world has a way of showing us where we belong." LOVE THIS LINE SO MUCH

The Immortality Project:

One of my insta friends that I actually made through our love of your books, Katie (gingko.reads), put in one of her posts about this story that “Vigilante Shit” is the perfect song for this story and I AGREE. Actually, I think Taylor wrote the song after reading this story tbh. We love reading about two women finally getting revenge on a world/on men that took advantage of them. This story was also so funny I laughed out loud several times. The legal document format was so fun and unique. I feel like you always throw in some unique formats in your anthologies and it always makes it so fun! Loved Saffron and Nikita’s friendship in this too, felt like it showed the power of female friendship very well. 

-Some moments I loved: LOL she is such a ranter but so funny (she’s me ❤️). I just have “YES GIRL GET YOUR REVENGE” in my notes 100 times hahaha. Her name on false papers to get out of the country is Cinnamon (omg just realized two spices Saffron and Cinnamon I love it!). The whole VIP thing with Dick being the VIP and the “naughty boy” things from Saffron LOL LOVE HER. And the employee telling Saffron her friend might have murdered someone and her just saying I’m not worried I’ve seen death and it’s not as cute as her haha so good. “We are advised not to die” hahaha. She thinks saffron drugged her but Saffron insists she didn’t hahahah. “Aggressively writing things down” LOL. HER WISH AWWW I LOVE IT SO MUCH WHAT A GOOD ONE, THIS IS WHAT I WANT TOO. Saffron coming to visit her at the rehabilitation center awww. Tbh I can’t tell if the story was really just a mental break for her or if the wish she did with the witch came true because Saffron has money now and is successful while the dick and all his friends are either dead or going to jail. I like to think it is the latter. The ending being that quote reemphasized ugh perfection.

All In

All my immediate thoughts were more about Anne and Sprig and the Plantars and Andrias a little and Sasha and Grime. 😛

The intro does show off how, while Marcy felt she couldn't be open and felt ignored in some ways, she was still an influence in getting Anne to do things she maybe wouldn't want to do. (Also, Marcy, did you throw that pupper??)

Maybe it's the not-having-goals/working-hard-on-anything of Anne that resonates with me. Which is weird, since in school I was more like Marcy, getting good grades without having to strain myself. School stuff (socializing, assignments) was the thing you did outside and where you act a certain way, while home stuff was when you could just be yourself (you know, the self you didn't want to/couldn't/shouldn't share with others).

BUT ANYWAY.

I think Aldrich is a jerk for trying to sell Marcy on her fantasy.

I am proud of Marcy for rejecting it. I was then. I still am. Recognizing that she can't run away from problems is probably an important step to take. There's nothing wrong with loving fantastical stories. (I do.) But you can't just... I'm not sure how to say but...

Like, Marcy's rejection of the Core's offer is essentially her saying no to the ideology of the Core -- a highly sterilized, tunnel-vision that is only concerned with how everything benefits it; everything is for the Core; it deserves everything; it's smarter and better than everything and everyone else. And while Marcy never got that far, she did place a lot of importance on her intelligence.

But unlike the Core, this came from a place of human fear and fallibility; it came from a place of actually wanting to have friends and share things with those friends. And because she had the human (or emotional) element she could recognize that the Core/Aldrich was asking her (1) give that up (assimilation) and (2) to live in a restricted reality.

(Genuinely feel that if Andrias hadn't closed his heart off after, what was to him, Leif's betrayal and Barrel's failure, I think him and Marcy could have been actually close? And possibly a good influence on the other? Andrias gets to learn to have a friend again and Marcy gets someone who finds her interests captivating. (He sent a murderbot to get the second book in a series she got him hooked on.))

I do actually love that Marcy recognizes she can't live in a world where everything is exactly how she wants it to be. Then she puts her trust in her friends coming to rescue her, which is a BIG step for Marcy, imo. Instead of trying to plan how she can be useful or trying to find the way to likable, she's going to trust in other people.

(I had a thought that it was this isolation from the rest of the Core that allowed Marcy to be freed so easily. Cut the interface, Core's gone, but Marcy's no longer linked up to it.)

I also like that Marcy recognizes she can't make people like what she likes or do what she wants. The next step would be recognizing that there can be other ways to make/be friends. Who knows, there may be something outside of her usual interests that she might be able to connect with Anne and/or Sasha over? Or heck, maybe there are others out there who might be interested in the same subjects *cough*like Maddie*cough*

Additions:

Plantar - call me an anomaly but the heron stuff in this gets me like a sucker punch 😭

Sasha - her character development and relationship with Grime has been exceptionally amazing. I love it.

Story & Spranne - parallels b/w Anne and Sprig to Andrias and Leif, one positive, the other half negative/half positive. Basically, friends separating but having memories, but in one set, one of the friends becomes bitter, instead of treasuring the memories.

Plus, Sprig being the only one (friendship!) to go to help Anne (and read the letter). (foreshadow to The Hardest Thing)

Strobe is a joke character but she did make my friend cry for like 2 days when she died in rp so I guess she does have an impact or something LOLOL

STrobe is a super romantic high-energy FIEND who hates other women and wants to be One Of The Boys. Though she lacks common sense and a filter, she’s actually pretty intelligent when it comes to math, engineering, health science— all that jazz. Not very good in the English department though…

Strobe is known for getting in people’s business and holding grudges. If you wronged her once, even if it was megacycles ago, she still remembers it and is still plotting how to get back at you. And since she’s so nosy and curious and knows how to ask around and get good information, she knows exactly how to ruin your day… OR LIFE!!!! Maybe not that dramatic maybe not life but emotionally she’s pretty angry all the time lol

All in all basically a very unstable pick-me-girl who will have a vendetta against if you identify as a woman or instantly want to marry you if you’re a guy. She loves men btw she loves men a LOT…. Specifically BLITZWING… but it’s not mutual LOL

To elaborate on that random fact (and to explain why Blitzwing is in every SINGLE DRAWING) Strobe is compleeeeetely in love with Blitzwing and follows him around really wants him to like her but Blitzwing is too busy watching football and eating veiner schnitzel or something to notice idfk. Blitzwing really sees her as like a semi-annoying younger sister than a girlfriend (and plus I lowkey headcanon Blitzwing is just asexual + aromantic leaning in general THATS MY HOT TAKE he’d rather sing nursery rhymes and kill people than hold someone’s hand!!!) so would never date her she gets friendzoned constantly

(I also headcanon random is gender fluid I DONT KNOW WHERE ELSE TO PUT THIS headcanon But It’s here LOL ANYWAY)

ALSO I should probably end this with saying IN THE Little toddler phone thing with the stupid bugs and blitzwing the pink bug is NOT strobe’s child that is her clone. Very long story. But she has a clone. The clone’s name is chitter and she is a very sweet little baby who has gotten kidnapped at least 3 times so far in the rp she’s in Oops
