As a hobby worldbuilder who works primarily in what I assume is the weird fiction zone (with fair sized fantasy or scifi elements, depending on the project), I sometimes get stuck about what to do with the sky. If reality doesn't work the same, how do I account for the sun? Should I even have a moon and stars? If I do, are they true moon and stars, or an equivalent?
While you can gently sweep the conundrum under a rug, it can of course become part of the game. Here's some examples of solutions I've enjoyed:
Midst: The natural state of the universe is, in fact, light. Darkness acts like a reality-warping, breathable liquid. Midst is an islet, which here means it's one of many floating planetoids. Midst specifically floats and rotates slowly at the border of light and dark, causing day and night. The moon is an even smaller floating body, but it's mostly just there to explode. Space is dangerous not for breathing or temperature reasons but because you'll get ripped to shreds by floating mica.
Campaign: Skyjacks: The sun is the creation of the Sovereign (now dead patriarch god), and the stars were his angels. The Morningstar is the only one that doesn't move, guarding the empty throne, but the few remaining stars (angels) do, and also aren't always up there, which makes navigation difficult. There are so few stars now as most angels were cast out of the heavens a couple centuries back (when The Sovereign was slain). The moon was created by The Forest Queen, allowing her to see by the light of it, which she could not by the Sovereign's sun. If you fly an airship above the moon, she cannot see you.
The Mistholme Museum: Specifically, in the world of The Beast and The Queen, the stars are beetles, which roam about on the dome that is the sky. The sun? Different beetle.

Slowly watching YouTubers I liked become more and more homophobic/transphobic for some reason.
Like I can get making jokes about it, being equal about how you make jokes about everyone - I get it.
But going on like full blown "they're cringe cause they're trans/gay" or slowly moving away from a topic to be a dick about it.
Really?

do you know what you're all right about solo fans not having any critical thinking skills because i made a friend, who isn't a fan and who doesn't know anything about harry or his team or whatever, watch the mfasr mv and she got the point of it one go. she caught on about how predatory the industry is and how it tries to exhaust and exploit the talent and even after they're gone it still tries to exploit the brand and name and how entitled fans can be and how they think that just because they're a fan they're owed something from the artist and expect the artist to deliver to their expectations always and how all of these reasons are active contributing factors to the narrative and the reality the video talks about. and if she can get it without any prior knowledge, i think the video is very on point and obvious and that anyone who doesn't get it is being willfully ignorant and obtuse about it and just doesn't want their fantasy ruined.

i get the frustration with so many villains now getting treatment like “oh they had a sucky childhood so actually you need to feel bad for them and not hold them accountable for their actions” but the counter of “this person was born evil and cant ever grow and its pathetic to assume that they can, also people cant be redeemed no matter what and this is fantastic writing actually” is so exhausting.
#like... no one is born grinning maliciously with a knife out the womb. no one starts out that way#and anything thats ever tried to portray a character that way at birth has only ever been ironically funny#idk its annoying when people are like ''actually its more interesting that the character doesnt have a motive for killing people''#like. coming off of bullet train rn but even ''this character otherwise has a perfect life but they accidentally killed and now theyre#fascinated with all the ways people can die'' is more interesting than ''idk thats just how they are *shrugs*''#like yes someone can have the perfect upbringing and social life and still turn out to be sadistic but you can still work with that#as opposed to ''they were born evil thats just how they were always gonna be SORRY''#like. idk go into that ''perfect social life and family''. what did that family value? what were the friends like?#what did that person experience outside of those things? what did they consume?#did their social standing actually breed some sort of entitlement to them? do they perhaps freak out if something doesnt go their way?#are they insecure deep down? does that drive them to it? are they a perfectionist? do they assume peoples feelings?#i remember reading this wc fancomic that explained why a character was evil and like her mom died#and the attention from her mothers death made her obsessed with being fawned over so she started medical abuse#and letting her patients die so that people would fawn over her the same way every time#and the op was like ''HEY before you yell at me shes NOT evil bc her mom died ok she was gonna turn out evil no matter what''#like... no no go into the emotional vulnerability implied there. go into the morbid introduction to slow death at a young age#go into the potential desensitization go into that. youre already willing to make her multifauceted and with positive traits#why are you afraid of implying shes even SOMEWHAT sympathetic and just want to say she was gonna do that regardless#and i fault the atmosphere around this stuff most of all like we should never have implied that giving a villain a reason to be evil#was stupid woobifying bullshit that was out of touch with reality#echoed voice

my toxic trait is that i think alastor hazbin hotel is cool actually. sorry for not being immune to the red-coded new orleans serial killer with a jazz age radio-based persona and character design meant to evoke the image of a deer. not like he's fucking tailor made to cater to my interests or anything. AND he's ace

i've already said my piece on why saad is easily the most interesting "brooding mysterious boy with an artsy passion" type character degrassi has ever done, but im honestly so sad they never tried to go deeper into his relationship with maya. the way the two of them fed off of each others trauma and sorta made each other worse while engaging in this morbid coping mechanism was so interesting to watch and i kinda wish we got to see it fester more in the background, if not get the same amount of focus as a plotline like the mola romance. idk, i found their chemistry addicting and i feel cheated bc they only showed up in a handful of episodes and never interacted after season 3.

"Even now, after all I've done, I can't quite figure out what makes people treat actual atrocities like cheap entertainment. Maybe we're all just broken inside, unable to really grasp the difference between fictional people and people we just don't know. They're all julst abstract ideas we're happy to have suffer for our enjoyment. Or maybe the fact it really happened is exactly the point. Adding the awful spice of reality to people's morbid fantasies."

Micah is the type of person that would research morbid topics and know messed up facts that ruin everyone's mood whenever they open their mouth. They would believe themselves capable of being a terrible person and joke about it but the second they were confronted to the reality of hurting another person they would break down.
