I love this song so much, I think it’s just very emblematic of finding someone you click with! He got a job!! He’d managed to get a job!!! 

And with the very nice Korean man who ran the local market! That was... - alright, genuinely Milo felt like the stars couldn’t have aligned any better on that one. It was safe, it was familiar.. and working at a market was almost something he knew. Or at least the closest to something he knew. He didn’t have any formal experience of course, but he couldn’t pretend he didn’t help the old couple stock their little corner store when he was on the streets. Helping them lift the boxes the trucks threw off when they couldn’t do it themselves. 

In return, he’d gotten paid with drinks and snacks and occasionally the woman would bring him tupperware full of meals. It had been...nice. 

So this would be nice too! So long as he didn’t...blow it - but he knew how to impress people like Mr. Moon (he thought) because he knew how his father could have wanted to be impressed ( he thought). 

This just meant he showed up early (showing up on time was showing up late!!), showed up with a good attitude (that was pre-installed), had his best-borrowed clothes on and greeted Mr. Moon with a respectful bow. “...Good Morning, sir!” He chirped, eyeing him gently with a smile as he straightened up. “How can I help?”

Monday, November 21 -- Back to the Future Thread: Write either a flashback or a flashforward thread with another mun! (This could be an existing connection or a connection that could possibly happen 10 years in the future! Should be 10+/- years in the past/future.)

Gregory was back in Swynlake. 

It had been a while, hadn’t it? Gregory couldn’t help but feel a little guilty about that small fact. It had been over seven years since he’d managed to get back home to the place he’d grown up, but.. Gregory knew that once he left, he’d be hard pressed to want to come back. He supposed no one could blame him, after all he’d been through - but Gregory had to imagine that Swynlake had hospitalized him enough, right? 

So when he’d been accepted in the paid-internship position as the Magical Creature Caretaker apprentice at the Australian Zoo? Gregory hadn’t even hesitated a second before confirming his position. From there... everything had seemed to happen so fast. He’d been prepared for this - his shop left in incredibly trustworthy hands, his animals processed and screened for the trip with him. He’d packed, prepped, and said his heartfelt goodbyes to everything he knew so that he could jet off to start his new journey. 

It was only meant to be for six months. However...the paid internship quickly turned into another. ....And another. At first he’d even come home a few times, coming back to spend holidays with his family. To see his friends. To check in on the usual Swynlake nonsense. ...Until one day, the Zoo made him an offer he couldn’t refuse - a full time position as the head of their animal curator and care team. A position he happy announced the last time he’d come home - right before he’d gotten caught right in the middle of another brutal Swynlake disaster. 

It had put everything on hold. Having to defer his acceptance into the position while he recovered and recouped before he could even manage to get back to Australia. When he did he was fortunate enough to find that they’d held onto the offer for him. Allowing him to step into the role he’d always dreamed of, and... all too easily Gregory hadn’t looked back. Days turned into months, and months turned into years, and Greg had not once gone back to Swynlake. Instead, people came to him. His parents. A few friends. It was... better that way. Gregory was much happier. Healthier. Safer. 

But... he had to come home eventually... right? As much as he wanted to, Gregory couldn’t just run from Swynlake for the rest of his life. And so... Seven years later - here Gregory was again, smelling that crisp Swynlake Autumn air as he left his parents house and made a journey he used to take almost every day so many years prior. 

In a way - stepping back onto Moon Farm was like stepping back home. Memories existed in every direction in which Gregory looked, from the chicken coop that Tae had built all those years ago, to the goat pen he’d spent so many of his mornings in. The fence Jun and himself had rebuilt, the open fields in which he’d go to clear his mind. The exact place in which he’d stood when he told Jun he was moving. If he listened hard enough, he swore he could still hear the man’s proud words in the rustling of the wind-blown leaves. 

As Gregory pushed himself onto the porch, his knuckles knocked against the hard wood just once before he paused, knocking again in a similar pattern he had adopted long ago when he’d lost his ability to speak. His own little ‘code’ he’d had to signify it was him. His chest tightened then, as the door began to open - only really finally getting hit with the realization of how long it’d been since he’d seen his friend. How they’d gone from seeing each other most of the week to Gregory having not seen his mentor in person in years. The reality of how much he’d missed him. 

His lips turned up in an all too genuine smile as he stood in front of his hyung again, blinking against the slight burn in his eyes as he greeted him softly. “...Hi, Mr. Moon.”

The Cat Who Came Back: a tale about how a shared love can bring people together.

Haru always took care of the local strays. Jun always despised her for doing so. It was only because the cats lingered by his shop. Day in and day out he’d shoo them away, but promises of canned fish brought them back. Mr. Moon berated Haru every time she dinged the store bell (but still sold her the fish, business was business after all).

Until one day, Haru didn’t come in. Nor the next, nor the next. The cats got weary, but so did Jun. He took to feeding the ones that remained, begrudgingly. Though, a particular calico seemed to disappear with Haru.

The girl returned, having had to leave town for a personal matter, absolutely chuffed that the cats were cared for in her absence. But where did her favorite, the calico she dubbed Pierogi, run off to? Will the unlikely duo bond over what’s missing, or will lines be drawn that not even toe beans can cross?

Tae wasn’t exactly sure how he was supposed to bring up to Jun that he’d gotten a job at Morey construction. There was the obvious way where he could just tell him, but Tae felt a little bit bad about abandoning the market so that was definitely easier said than done. 

Instead, Tae opted to bring his brother coffee while he was at work, right when his own shift was scheduled to start. 

Tae walked into the market, coffee in hand, and peered down the aisles until he saw Jun doing price changes down by the cereal. It hit him very hard and all at once that he was about to do his first real grown up thing. He was about to tell his brother that he wasn’t going to work at the market anymore and he was going to get a real, grown up job. 

It was exciting, but it was terrifying too and he took a deep breath into his lungs and softly let it out as he approached Jun. 

“Hey,” he said, holding out the coffee. “I got this for you.”

This was great!

That’s what he’d thought when they’d first asked him to go fishing with them. What a fantastic chance to go and hang out with some of Vixey’s friends, and maybe make friends with them better himself! 

This was fine. 

That’s what he’d convinced himself when he’d over-optimistically replied to that really awkward message checking whether this was still going ahead. This was a great opportunity to spend with two respected business owners, to prove that he could be a mature, intelligent friend. Besides, the break up with Vixey hadn’t been that bad, really? For either of them?

This was an absolutely, undeniably, 100% terrible idea. 

That’s what his brain was screaming by the time he actually arrived. Fishing. With Jun and Al. What was he thinking. He never fished? All of his fishing experience was proper fishing, commercial fishing on his Uncle’s boat. Not like this... 

But it had been none refundable. And when he’d had the option of pretending ‘something had come up’ and getting out of it, some chaotic daemon out of a Greek tragedy had taken him over and said it would be fine, fun even. 

So here he was, way to early because he still wanted to make a good impression for some reason, bouncing nervously on his toes.

Jun’s Carrot Soup:

Another obvious one fjdsklfdjska except when it came to me I was feeling PRETTY intelligent. Anyway, it’s basically just butternut squash soup but instead of the squash it’s carrots. I wanted Jun to have a soup because that just fits him to me, like out of everyone in your characters he is the most soup.

Ingredients:

Butter or Oil (for preppin the pan)

1 medium onion (up to you on if you want white or yellow, my ass prefers yellow tho since she’s sweet)

3-5 cloves of garlic depending on who you are as a person

1 pound of carrots (peeled, chopped)

2 cups of broth (vegetable or chicken, it’s up to you honestly)

½ teaspoon salt

Things you can add to it, depending on your mood: Cayenne pepper Curry powder Apples, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cinnamon Thyme Lemon Juice

Instructions:

Chop and peel your vegetables. You will be blending all of this up so you don’t have to be a chef about it.

Over medium heat on the stove top, heat a large pot or Dutch oven. Add butter or olive oil.

Add the onion and garlic, cook until the onions are soft, stirring occasionally, about 7-10 minutes.

Add carrots, yes all of them bad boys. (NOTE: this is also where you would add any additions for the flavor profile!!! Any spices, other vegetables, etc.) Cook for another like 3-5 minutes.

Add the broth and salt. Bring up to a boil then turn back down to the medium heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the carrots are soft when you check on them.

LET IT COOL SLIGHTLY so you’re not burning your fingers off as you do this while you get out your blender and set up another big bowl for transferring your final soup product into.

Pour as much as you dare (meaning not enough that it’s going to overflow or splash when you turn on the blender) into the blender. Cover the top and blend until smooth. Smooth smooth, like a dolphin or shark. Continue until all of the soup is blended down.

When Belle had agreed to work on the petition for magical wards on a few buildings in Swynlake, she had done it because she believed in the initiative. Was annoyed she hadn’t thought of it herself. So, she had eagerly accepted having some sort of mark on it.

And then, Simba had told her she would be working with Jun Moon.

Now, Belle didn’t know Jun very well. He had been two years above her in school and, obviously, he ran the Moon Market. She knew the rumors about him, which was enough to make her cautious, but at the very least, he had experience writing petitions.

She arrived at the Market a few minutes passed their scheduled time, having agreed to meet him there since he could not leave the shoppe.

“My apologies,” she told him when she found him in the back office. “I was held up at work. How would you like to do this? I have already gathered some of the provisions I believe should be included in the contracts. As well as statistics on the benefits of wards.”

Out Of Six {Jun & Lo}

Dolores tried not to scroll Twitter much before she worked on the Wordle. Especially when she knew a few of people’s starting words. Of course Jun and others flipped it up now and then that she didn’t have to worry about it. But she didn’t want a whole Train situation again.

But after the fact and seeing how everyone had done, it was one of her favourite parts of the morning. Including posting the fact she got it on two while Jun got it on six? Even with four letters in the beginning?!?!

How did one do that?

Posting her score, Dolores opened her and Jun’s twitter DM’s to start a message as she walked into Hatters and looking up at the very person she was about to message.

Milo had gone to bed early that night. Incredibly early. 

Too early to really be considered bedtime even as Milo crawled pitifully under his blankets and tried to shut his eyes against an all too noisy head of his. Try as he might though, the conversations of the week just kept playing over in his head. The fight between him and Tony. The fight between him and Pip. The talks with Amy. The talks with the Principle - with Luca. Everyone. Every word hammered against his skull as Milo tossed and turned time after time. It felt like an eternity had passed before the young man finally groaned and sat up with a huff, his discomfort never easing as he rubbed the pads of his hands into his eyes. 

That thought returned from earlier - and this time, Milo was certain it was the right one. He needed to leave. Maybe.... maybe forever - but for now he just.. Couldn’t stay here. So quickly Milo threw on some clothes again, tugging on his sweatshirt and pulling the hood up over his hair as he climbed the stairs quietly and checked the surroundings for Amy. No offense to her - but it was easy enough to tiptoe (again, trained stealth, he thought bitterly) right through the front door while she was occupied with one of her favorite shows - leaving Milo to stand on the stoop and watch the evening drizzle of rain coat the sidewalks. 

....where to?

It was...too late to be here, Milo noted as he stood outside of the Moon’s home. Far too late, (even if the lights were all still on inside), and Milo shifted his weight between his feet and wondered if he shouldn’t just turn back. Walk back through the fields and find his way towards something dry for the night until he could reassess in the morning. 

He didn’t even know if Mr. Moon was home, after all! He didn’t want to disturb his mother or his siblings. Honestly he didn’t even want to disturb him, either. He was very busy! Mr. Moon needed his rest. The time he spent with his family. God - what was he doing? He needed to just - 

A sudden hiss from behind him startled him, the man stumbling forward into the door as his features pulled into a wince. A glare whipped over his shoulder a moment later towards the cat that was sitting smugly atop the nearby post - and Milo was about two seconds from turning on said creature when he heard a growl from inside the door. Shit - Tony. The... the dog Tony, not the Tony he beat the shit out of. Ugh... With no other option but to look like his small knock against the door was intentional - Milo swept damp hair from his features, gently lifting bruised knuckles to actually knock this time. 

...god, please be Mr. Moon.
