My Adventures With Superman Season One Spoiler-Filled Review [Part 2]

Continued from part 1

The voice cast is talented. Jack Quaid lent his voice to Peter Parker / Lizard in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and more prominently as Ensign Bradward "Brad" Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks. This series marks one of Alice Lee's first voice roles, apart from voicing a character in Mickey Mouse Funhouse. She has played characters in TV series since 2009. Ishmel Sahid has been working on similar series since around the same time. In an exclusive interview with Lee and Sahid, both said they were excited to see fanart, but also said it was challenging to maintain the high energy of Lois and Jimmy. Both noted the writers and producers helped them. They described how they had to adjust their speaking voices to the characters and explained the flair they gave each character through the voices.

One member of the voice cast, Kari Wahlgren, is well-known. She voiced Martha Kent, and young Clark Kent, in this series. She has done dubbing of anime characters since 2002, and has voiced iconic characters in Western animation. This includes Electronique in Kim Possible,  Suzy Johnson in Phineas and Ferb, Tigress/Sheena in Carmen Sandiego, Callie in the somewhat underrated Cleopatra in Space, and Zatanna in DC Super Hero Girls. She also lent her voice to characters in Sym-Bionic Titan, Young Justice, Infinity Train, Dota: Dragon's Blood, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Owl House, Velma, and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes.

Wahlgren is voice actor powerhouse in her own right. There are few voice actors, in the cast, who have voiced as many characters as Wahlgren. One exception is Zehra Fazal. She is recognized for voicing Nadia Rizavi in Voltron: Legendary Defender and Halo/Violet in Young Justice. She also voiced Faraday and Shannon in Craig of the Creek, Mara in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Zahra and Sabrina in Glitch Techs, General Yunan in Amphibia, and Tassia in Dragon Age: Absolution.

Others have voiced just as many characters. Chris Parnell voiced characters in Gravity Falls, BoJack Horseman, Elena of Avalor (Migs), Samurai Jack, and Dogs in Space (Ed). Debra Wilson previously voiced characters in Cannon Busters (Lady Day), Final Space (Quinn's mother), The Casagrandes, The Owl House, Star Trek: Prodigy, Black Dynamite, and The Proud Family. Catherine Taber voiced her share of animated characters including Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Lori Loud in The Loud House. Lucas Grabeel voiced characters such as Jiku in Elena of Avalor and the haughty scammer Julian in Spirit Riding Free.

The voice cast includes other prominent voice actors. Vincent Tong voiced characters in 16 Hudson, Ninjago, LoliRock (Mephisto), My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Polly Pocket, and The Dragon Prince (Prince Kasef). André Sogliuzzo voiced King Bumi in Avatar: The Last Airbender and King Verago in Elena of Avalor. He also voiced characters in Samurai Jack, Star Wars Rebels, and The Owl House. Darrell Brown previously lent his voice to characters in Gabby's Dollhouse and Madagascar: A Little Wild. Azuri Hardy-Jones voiced Jade in Deer Squad. Kenna Ramsey voiced various characters in video games.

Apt viewers may recognize Jake Green, Laila Berzins, Jesse Inocalla, David Errigo Jr., Max Mittleman, and Andromeda Dunker. Errigo Jr. is known for voicing Ferb in the 2020 film, Candace Against the Universe. The film is the most recent iteration of the Phineas and Ferb franchise. Inocalla voiced Soren in The Dragon Prince. Berzins voiced characters in indie animations such as Satina, Wild Card: Shuffled, and Monkey Wrench.

Other well-known individuals voice bit characters in the seventh episode: Kimberly Brooks as Jalana Olsen, Osric Chau as Lewis Lane, and Lauren Tom as Leader Lois. Brooks is best-known as Princess Allura in Voltron: Legendary Defender and the rough-and-tough Jasper in Steven Universe. Some may remember Chau as the one who voiced the villainous computer hacker known as The Troll in Carmen Sandiego. Tom voiced Mop Girl in recently ended a mature animation, Disenchantment, and Amy Wong in currently airing Futurama, another mature animation. This differs with actors such as Reid Scott, Joel De La Fuente, Melanie Minichino, and Michael Emerson (as Brainac). All four do wonderful voice work on this show, but have almost exclusively, or exclusively, previously done live-action TV series.

Warner Bros. Animation is a subsidiary of the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate. This subsidiary produced Velma, Harley Quinn, DC Super Hero Girls, Young Justice, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, Justice League, Static Shock, Superman: The Animated Series, and Batman: The Animated Series. Rooster Teeth, another subsidiary, is recognized for RWBY, its flagship series. The CRWBY is doing all they can to ensure RWBY gets a tenth season. The RWBY superhero crossover film (part 2) is coming out this fall. It may include a version of Superman, like part one.

A largely-circulated spreadsheet in which people anonymously described their conditions in animation studios mentions Warner Bros. Animation. In one entry, Warner Bros. Animation is said to have too much work and treat workers badly. However, it acknowledges that each production is different. People on Glassdoor praised Studio Mir for high-quality projects and talented colleagues. Others were more critical.

Whatever the second season of My Adventures with Superman brings, the number of fans will continue to grow (including the  10,000+ fans across two subreddits), regardless of the corporate decision to air it on Adult Swim rather than Cartoon Network, possibly because of "dark moments" in the series. Hopefully the next season goes above and beyond what the first season delivered. Even so, I can't rate this series high enough, as it is just as strong as Harley Quinn and superior in many ways to the sometimes-convoluted Young Justice and mediocre Velma.

My Adventures with Superman can be streamed on Max or Spectrum. It can also be purchased on Prime Video, either as an entire season or individual episodes, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, or Microsoft Store.

At the table, John pulled Molly’s chair out for her while she placed the babies back into their pram,” My apologies for returning late. They wanted to eat more than usual.”

Zilpha gives her a small smile,” No need to apologize dear. We women know when a baby is hungry, they must eat,” she paused for a moment,” Now that we are all here, I’ve come to a decision about both the marriage and the truce.”

The entire family was on the edges of their seats waiting for Zilpha to continue. However, Molly grew more nervous as the silence continued. The only thing she could think of was going back to her home with her babies and still have to be a single mother. 

Zilpha finally broke the silence by sighing,” After talking with Esme in private, she has convinced me that the best option for everyone involved would be to keep the truce we have between the family’s. It has continued to work these past months, even though the tension.”

Molly watched as Thomas physically relax knowing that truce was still going to stand and business will continue as usual. Molly was grateful that the truce was going to stay intact, but she physically started to shake as her nervousness increased. 

John noticed and grabbed her hands to stop them,” Love,” he whispered, grabbing her attention. Molly looked over at him, tears streaming down her face. John pulled her hands to his lips, kissing them,” Remember what I just told you,” he whispered,” Nothing is going to keep me away from you.”

Molly nodded as she dried her tears and continued to listen to Zilpha and Thomas talk about the truce. 

“Zilpha, we are all happy to hear you will keep the truce and continue to help with our business, but this isn’t the main reason why we are here today,” Thomas continued,” We all need to know about the marriage.”

“After listening to everything said here about the marriage and speaking with Esme, I agree that annulling the marriage would be the best option for all parties involved. So consider the marriage between John and Esme annulled.”

Molly’s eyes widened at Zilphas words. She musters up a new set of happy tears as she looks over at John who is also crying. Their eyes meet and John instantly pulls Molly up from the chair and spins her around happily,” That’s it love. I’m no longer married. We can finally be a family.” The rest of the Shelby’s watch as the two have their moment. The men were cheering and the women were crying happy tears. 

Zilpha clears her throat again, causing everyone to quiet down,” I’m glad everyone is happy with my decision, but I do want Esme to be married before this child is born. So Jacob,” she say, gesturing him over to her,” I think you have something to ask my daughter.” Zilpha handed Jacob a box with a ring in it. 

Jacob smiled, happy that he was being accepted as a suitable man to marry her daughter,” Well Es, it’s official. You are an unmarried woman. How about you marry me instead? ,” as he gets down on one knee, opening the box. 

Molly watches as her brother purposes to the women he loves with a giant smile on her face. She hadn’t seen Jacob this happy in a while. Molly felt John wrap his hands around her waist,” You know that will be us one of these days.” 

Molly chuckles,” You don’t need to ask me, you already know what I’ll say. Just put the ring on my finger when I’m sleeping and you're up taking care of the babies.” 

“She better have that ring on her finger as soon as you get home,” Polly says admiring how happy the two are.

“John, why don’t you go stay at Molly’s tonight? Karl and I will go stay at yours with the kids.,” Ada suggests,” Looks like those two are heading to party with the Lees,” pointing to Jacob and Esme. 

“I think that’s a great idea,” Molly smiles,” I’ll be right back.” John nods and watches Molly make her way to Jacob, Esme and Zilpha.

Jacob smiles as his sister makes his way over to him. He untangles himself from Esme to wrap his sister in a hug,” Hi sister, I want to introduce you to my fiancé.”

Molly chuckles rolling her eyes,” Ha ha very funny Jake, but the reason I came over was to congratulate you both, and thank Ms. Lee for taking everything said here today into consideration. If Jacob and Esme choose to stay in town, I will make sure he treats her with nothing but respect. I would also like to offer my midwifery services once everything is settled.” 

“You are welcome Molly. You and John seems to have a bond that cannot be broken and some spirits came to me to make sure I saw that,” Zilpha says, taking Molly’s hands,” One of the spirits wanted me to tell you that she is very happy that you and John will finally get your happily ever after. She also says to make sure her babies that she loves them and that she will always be with them.” Molly smiles and thanks Zilpha for the message. 

She waves to her brother as he and Esme climb into a wagon and watches as they ride off. She turns around to see John pushing the pram toward her,” We are all meeting back at the house to for a celebratory dinner and a drink. Then we will head to yours for the night.” 

Molly smiles and nods, following the rest of the family out of Charlie’s yard. This was the first time in a very long time she was truly happy and didn’t have to worry about being a single mother anymore.

After dinner, Molly and John went back to her home to put the babies to bed. The two then sat on the sofa for a while talking about how happy they were,” I’m a little sad I’ll have to leave this home. This house holds so many memories,” Molly says, cuddling into Johns side. 

“Love, me and the kids can move in here if that’s what you want,” John replies.

“I’m not asking you to do that. Your home is bigger and has one more bedroom. I just hope Jacob and Esme decide to live here. I would hate to have to sell it to someone.”

“You don’t think the two are going to settle down here? ,” John asks her.

“Esme likes to travel and Jacob will follow her anywhere. Maybe they can stay here until the baby is born. I would love to help her deliver the child here, like my gran and mum did,” Molly smiles, reaching up to kiss him,” but we will see. As long as I have you, I’m the happiest woman in the world.”

“I can’t wait to tell the kids. Katie is going to be so happy,” John says. 

“I can’t wait to have all the children in the same home,” Molly replies.

“Tomorrow we will tell them and then get you packed. I don’t want to spend another night without you future Mrs. Shelby.”

Molly kisses his cheek,” Then we best head to bed so tomorrow will come quicker.” 

John quickly lifts her from the sofa and carry’s her up the stairs to her bedroom. The two spend their night wrapped in each other’s embrace, where they both belong.

Molly woke up the next morning to the sound of her bedroom door opening and her babies crying,” Morning love, I tried to hold them off for as long as I could, but they soon figured out I don’t got the goods they are looking for,” John said entering the room. 

“Well bring them here and get back in bed,” she says as she sits up a little reaching out for the babies. “Good Morning my loves. Did daddy get you up this morning? ,” she says as she snuggled them close and gets them settled to feed.

John smiles watching his little family. He still couldn’t believe the events that happened the previous day. He was so excited that he will be able to have his whole family together under one roof. 

He crawls back into bed, pulling Molly into his side,” You ready to be a mother of six instead of a mother of two?”

Molly smiles,” I’m a little nervous, but excited at the same time. I’ve always wanted a big family.”

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing I have a lot of kids,” John chuckles.

“Zilpha gave me a message from a spirit yesterday,” Molly says quietly, making John give her a questionable look,” The spirit said she was happy you and I were finally getting our happily ever after. It was Martha, John. She told me to tell the children how much she loves them and that she watching over them. What if she doesn’t approve of how I’m going to raise them?” 

“Molly, she probably wouldn’t want anyone else raising her children. You are going to be a wonderful mother and role model for those kids,” John reassures her,” Should we get up and get ready to go have breakfast with the kids? ,” he asks changing the subject.  Molly nods adjusting the babies as she gets up from the bed. 

John watches as she takes the babies into their room to get them changed and dressed. He could tell she was still doubting herself. John got up from the bed and followed her into the nursery. 

Once she put the babies down, he wrapped his arms around her waist,” I’m sorry if I upset you. I know you are just scared, but you’ve already been a mother figure to my kids, it’s just going to be more official now. Martha would be so happy that you are raising her kids. She knows that my boys will learn how to treat a lady with respect because of you and that Katie will have a strong mother figure to look up to. I can feel her presence in my home, I know that she was angry that Esme was in my bed not you. Martha fought just as hard from the other side to get us together,” he paused for a moment as Molly turned herself around to lay her head on his chest,” I don’t think I ever told you this but I wasn’t supposed to be at the meeting we had when we all found out you were pregnant. Tommy said I needed to be with my wife and kids. Something pulled me to house that night and now I think it was Martha telling me to step up and fight for the love of my life. We did that and now look at us, getting ready to go to OUR home and tell OUR children that YOU are going to be their mother. You don’t need to worry about being a good mother because you already are and you have been for years. Taking care of Jacob after your mother’s death, taking care of those kids in London, taking care of Finn, those prove you already are a great mother. You are only going to get better from here.” 

Molly smiles, taking in all of his words. She then pulls away from him and kissed him,” Thank you. Your words are very reassuring. I’m ready to go tell our children that their baby siblings are coming home.” 

John smiles, squeezing her tight and places a kiss on her forehead,” Let me change and dress them then. You go get ready darling,” John suggests. Molly nods and makes her way back to her bedroom. John walks over to the babies in their bassinet, Ben and Ellie both giving him gummy smiles,” You hear that loves, you’re finally coming home. Your big brothers and sister are going to be so happy.” 

Once John finished getting the babies ready for the day, he walked out of the nursery to find Molly walking out of her room,” That was fast love! We ready to go? ,” he asked. 

“Yes, I’m starving, let’s go,” she answers eagerly. 

The two make their way downstairs and out the door toward Johns home. When they got there, Molly opened the door so John could push the pram into the home. She could hear Polly, Ada and the kids making breakfast,” Hello is anyone home? ,” she asked, grabbing the babies from the pram. 

“Molly! ,” four little voices said at the same time. Molly then heard little feet running toward her.

“Be careful, loves, I’ve got the babies,” Molly warned before they could run into her,” Give me a second to lay them, then I’ll give you all a cuddle.”

“Here love let me take them,” John says, reaching for the babies,” I’m so happy to know that none of my children are excited to see me.” He lays the babies in a bassinet, watching as all the kids line up to get cuddles from Molly.

While Molly was busy catching up with the children, John went over to the kitchen to help Polly and Ada finish breakfast. “Did you have a good night? ,” Ada asks, wiggling her eyebrows.

John rolls his eyes,” We had a great night, but not in the way you think. It was just nice to be able to hold her while we talked and then fell asleep.” 

“Well, I’m sure you eager to tell the kids and move her in,” Polly adds,” Come on kids, breakfast is ready.” 

All of the children ran to the table and sat in their seats. Halfway through breakfast, John thought it would be a good idea to tell the kids the news. He gave Molly a nudge on the shoulder and a nod, letting her know he was going to tell them. 

“So kids, you know how Benjamin and Eleanor have been living with Molly at her house, but they are your siblings,” John paused, watching the kids nod,” Well, what if I told you that they can start living here now, would you all be okay with that?”  All four kids got excited look on their faces and nodded their heads yes.

“What if I moved here with them? Would you all be okay with that? ,” Molly asked. Molly watched as four little smiles formed on each of their faces and they nodded their heads yes again. 

John turned and looked at Molly and smiled,” Well, I guess you're moving in. We better eat up because we are going to need all your help today.” Molly smiled back, happy that the children were okay with her and the babies moving in.

“Where is Esme going to live if Molly is moving here? ,” Katie asked, curiously.  Johns eyes widened and his mouth opened and closed as he tried to find the words.

Luckily Molly stepped in to answer,” Well darling, Esme is going to go live with my brother Jacob in my house.”

“Why? Isn’t she married to you daddy? ,” Katie asked again.  Molly and John then looked over to Polly to see if she could help explain.

“Katie, you know how yesterday you saw all of us leave to go to Uncle Charlie’s,” Polly started, as Katie nodded her head,” Well we all met with Esme’s family to talk about hers and your dads marriage. We all decided that it would be best if they didn’t stay married, and now this lets Molly and the babies move in here with all you and be a family.” 

Molly and John sent Polly thankful looks across the table. They could see that Katie was trying to understand what she was told but she was ultimately too young to understand. 

Molly cleared her throat,” Katie, I know you may not understand all of that information, but are you still okay with me moving in?”

“Yes,” Katie answers,” I want you to move in because your cooking is better than dads and Esme’s.”

“Excuse me, but my cooking is great, right boys,” John says, as he acts offended. The boys just look at him with wide eyes, not know what to say. 

Molly laughs,” It’s okay boys, he’s just joking,” Molly reassures them,” Well missy I’m glad you like my cooking, I’ve learned from the best,” pointing at Polly,” Once I am all settled and moved in, I’ll start teaching you some things.”

They all continued to talk about what was going to happen once Molly and the babies moved in. Molly was relived about how well the children took the news and she was excited for the future. 

After breakfast, the kids helped Ada clean up while Polly informed John and Molly that she and Ada were going to take the kids to the pictures while they started packing and moving. John agreed that that would be the best option since the nanny had the day off. 

Once Polly, Ada and the kids left, Molly got the babies ready to eat. She and John were sitting on the sofa when there was a knock at the door. Molly quickly grabbed a blanket to cover herself while John answered the door. 

Outside stood Esme and Jacob,” Sorry about knocking. Didn’t feel right to just come in like I used to,” Esme says as John ushers them inside. 

“No need to apologize, you do still live here,” John answers as they sit down in the parlor. 

“That’s what we came to talk about,” Jacob says,” I’m assuming you're moving in here right Molly?”

“Yes, our plan was to head over and pack my things after I finish feeding them,” Molly answers,” Are you to planning on staying here or are you going to go live with your family Esme?” 

“Jake and I spoke about that last night. We were hoping you would be okay with us staying in your family home at least until the baby arrives and then we can decide if a life on the road is a good idea,” Esme states,” Staying here will be easier for us to take you up on your offer, to be my midwife.” 

Molly smiles widely,” I would be honored to be your midwife and of course it’s okay for you to stay there. I was hoping you both would stay. I’m not ready to let my baby brother leave home just yet.” 

“I’m not a baby anymore, Molly,” Jacob whines.

“You’ll always be a baby,” Molly and Esme say at the same time as they both smile at each other. They all laugh and chat until the babies were finished eating. Molly then puts the babies down for a nap. 

“I’m going to head back to mine with Jake to start packing. I’m going to leave most of the nursery things there, that way we don’t have to move too much. The babies will be sleeping in our room until we all get settled,” Molly says, hugging John,” You’ll be okay with the babies for a little bit? Once Esme is finished, you can see if Thomas, Arthur and Finn will help move her stuff to mine. I should have the baby things packed by then.”

“I’ll be fine here, you go get packing. I’m way too excited to get you moved in,” John answers, kissing her. 

Molly smiles, then heads for the door,” Come on Jake. Time to go spend our last few hours as housemates.” Jacob chuckles as the two make their way back to their childhood home. 

Molly spent the next few hours packing her and the babies things, and placing the boxes and cases in the parlor. As she was packing the clothes from her wardrobe, she came across a box of her mother’s things. She sat on her bed and started looking through the box. There were a few photos of Molly and her grandmother in that box and some of her mother, Jake and herself. 

“You know you're supposed to be packing the box not unpacking it,” Jacob joked as he came into the room,” Is that moms stuff?”

Molly looked up,” Yeah, what’s left of her jewelry, some letters and photos. I think some of this stuff is Grandma Jeans as well. I’ll put it back in the wardrobe in a minute.” 

“No, you keep it and take it with you,” Jacob declines,” I’ve got all this other stuff to teach my son or daughter about our mum. I’ve pulled a few things from the kitchen I know mum would want you to have as well.”

Molly smiles,” You know I’m really proud of you. For stepping up to help me when I was pregnant and now stepping into the father role. Mum would be proud of you.” 

“She’d be proud of you too Molly,” Jacob adds,” Leaving the life you made in London to come back to the place you ran away from just for me. I don’t know if I would have done that, but after some bumps, we are all finally on the right track.” 

Molly gets up from the bed and hugs Jacob,” I love you, baby brother.” 

“I love you too sis,” Jacob replies,” Oh John called, Esme is finished packing. They are on their way with his brothers. He told me to tell you that the babies were not happy that he was the one they woke up too.” 

“That just means they are hungry and he don’t got the goods to feed them,” Molly laughs,” Send him up when he gets here. Everything should be all packed by then.”

Once John and Esme arrive, Molly and Esme sit on the sofa to chat about baby and motherhood things while she feeds her unhappy babies while John, Jacob, Thomas, Arthur, Finn and some Blinders carry all of Molly and the babies things back to Johns. 

Once the babies are finished, Molly excuses herself to take one last look around to make sure she doesn’t forget anything. After a few minutes, John finds Molly standing in her now old bedroom. 

“Hey love, Pol and Ada just got back with the kids, they’ve had dinner and are getting ready for bed,” John says as he makes his way into the room,” You got everything?”

Molly sighs and smiles,” I think so, but if I did forget something, at least I’m not miles away.”

“That’s very true,” John chuckles,” You ready to head home?” 

“Yeah, let’s go home,” Molly says smiling.

The two make their way downstairs and say goodbye to Esme and Jacob. John grabs Molly’s last suitcase while she pushes the pram. When the arrive home, John makes his way in first to help lift the pram into the house. Before Molly closes the door, she takes one last look down the lane at her childhood home. Smiling at all the memories, she makes her way into her new home. She is excited for what the future has in store for her on this new journey she gets to share with John and his family.

rosebuzz kids

been meaning to make this post for a while but rosa and buzz have too many kids (SIX) lol. but they live on a farm (which i will post about eventually) outside of houston so they have plenty of room.

jacob abraham “jake” goldman

born september 15, 2018

his biological mother is polly bernhardt, but rosa adopts him when he’s seven and has been basically raising him since before he was five

guitar and piano prodigy. has been obsessed with music since buzz gave him his ukelele as a little kid.

total metal head. all his sisters hate it except sil.

he’s in a metal band for a long time. rosa’s very into it (in a really nerdy mom way) and goes to almost every show he plays in the city. she always wears a bunch of their merch and calls herself their “roadie” (which jake hates). buzz comes sometimes but it can be too loud for him to handle. jake understands.

teaches guitar and piano lessons for a living when he grows up. he’s classically trained and goes to berklee after high school.

he plays drums in school band in middle school and is on the drum line for three years in high school. also plays bass for the jazz band.

started skateboarding when he was six and when they leave the city for the country, rosa designs him a mini ramp on their land since the roads are mostly gravel or dirt.

hates having his hair short

such a good big brother. older than the rest by eight years but he takes his role as a big bro very seriously and looks after his little sisters and brother. he never complains when he has to babysit when he’s older.

he doesn’t mind working on the farm but he’s not into it like his dad is. but when he’s eighteen, buzz shows him the greenhouse where he grows medical marijuana for local dispensaries - which had always been strictly off limits for the kids. it’s the first time jake thinks of agriculture as fun.

very quiet and introspective. most of his focus is spent on his music. frequently referred to as antisocial and was teased a lot as a kid.

lilia hannah “lily” goldman 

born may 21, 2026

very skilled artist. loves drawing and painting. she draws on the walls a lot as a little kid and her parents never ever paint over her drawings. they love to talk about her masterpieces.

could be found every morning before anyone else woke up watching cartoons in the living room. loved cartoons so much.

loves “old” (old in the 2030s) cartoons her parents show her. she dresses as finn the human for halloween four years in a row. 

draws cartoons all the time about her family. which her dad loves so much and always hangs on the fridge.

the first one she does is of buzz with a beard of bees when she’s three and he keeps it in his wallet forever

fridge features include grumpy old man jake and rosa as a superhero called supermama who appears multiple times 

becomes an animator when she grows up

very bubbly and optimistic, excited about everything but also very bashful and is constantly embarrassed by her family

to be fair she’s very awkward and usually embarrasses herself more than her family does

hates disappointing people and always takes too much on her plate to make everyone happy

is constantly way too hard on herself and gets stressed out very easily

she gets this from her mother, who can always tell when lily gets in that mood and tears her away from her homework to watch animated movies and decompress

sophia demetria goldman

born november 4, 2027

fraternal twin of silvia

they couldn’t be more different and they aren’t that close but sophia always stands up for sil no matter what.

total daddy’s girl. loves working in the fields with him more than anything. they talk for hours.

they spend so much time gossiping. buzz knows so much about the social hierarchy of every class sophia is in. he knows about every snotnose kid who was mean to his daughter and gives them dirty looks when he drops the kids off or sees them at birthday parties. 

she tells buzz basically everything about her life. they’re super close.

when she goes to college she makes buzz get whatever device they use in 2046 so they can message all the time. he iris messages her every time anyways.

goes to the farmer’s market with buzz every weekend and is always a smash hit with the customers. she knows how to play up her cuteness.

she’s just like the nicest, sweetest, most well-behaved kid. buzz and rosa have no clue how it happened.

loves flowers and gardening. they didn’t have a flower garden before sophia expressed interest, but buzz set it up just for her. she spends so much of her free time there. even if she’s not gardening, she has a hammock set up where she’ll do her homework or hang out.

ridiculously caring and selfless. 

the sweetest nicest bean ever. would not hurt a fly.

so smart. not just in school but rosa swears she got 100% of the athena wisdom gene. she gives amazing advice. 

ends up becoming a therapist when she grows up. and her home garden is magnificent.

silvia atenea “sil” goldman

born november 4, 2027

fraternal twin of sophia

she prefers “sil” to silvia

got buzz’s crazy curls

loves loves loves animals, bugs, and biology. has to be told several times by her parents to stop hanging out with wild animals on the farm and still doesn’t really listen.

she sneaks insects inside that end up escaping and it’s no fun for anyone. she did this with a snake once and got grounded for a month. never again.

whatever it is it usually ends up in sophia’s bed because they share a bunkbed. sophia has a complete meltdown every single time.

talks to caterpillars and chases butterflies when she’s supposed to be picking vegetables. also loves playing in the dirt as a kid.

seriously buzz and rosa have to wash her like three times a day because she keeps coming back inside covered in mud

reads all the time, mostly nonfiction books about animals. 

she enthusiastically shows pages about inchworm digestion to sophia, who screeches immediately

doesn’t get along great with her sisters but is super close with jake (also adam to an extent because they’re both science geeks). they’re both kind of social outcasts in school so he gets her really well even though he’s nine years older.

jake shows sil metal and she’s all about it

when she’s 10-11 and he’s 19-20 jake takes her to a couple of his shows and she has the time of her life.

on the spectrum. she’s has high-functioning autism. she mostly just doesn’t look people in the eye and when someone is saying something she’s not interested in she tends to tune them out completely.

tomboy/gender non-conforming. doesn’t care about gender norms.

not very interested in other people or in making friends. she has her own thing going on instead.

can be mean but it’s not on purpose

ends up becoming a wildlife biologist when she grows up. plays the doctor card nonstop as soon as she gets her phd. even her nieces and nephews call her “dr. auntie sil”

amalia michelle goldman

born july 12, 2029

her family often calls her ‘mali/molly’ but she prefers amalia

the most dramatic of the six kiddos because there’s too many of them and it’s really hard to get attention. she’s the kid who always has to cause a scene.

car rides are a nightmare. “mama! adam keeps poking me! tell him to stop right now!” “no i’m not! tattle!” “mama if adam keeps poking me i’m going to open the door and get out on the street and probably die!”

every time she gets sick as a kid she acts as if she’s going to die and writes a will where she leaves her jerk siblings nothing because they’re jerks who suck 

had a grudge against adam until he was like six because he usurped her as the baby of the family.

there’s an infamous family video of a five year old amalia pushing a crying two year old adam off his tricycle and it gets played at every hannukah and christmas.

somehow around the time they’re about 7/9 they actually become friends

your typical try hard nerd. very much like her mom. gets over-competitive about everything, total know it all, tries to take control of any room she’s in

president of like every nerdy club in high school

she loves using difficult vocabulary. everybody else hates it.

amalia and rosa have been prohibited from being on the same team or going 1v1 on family game night because it gets too intense too fast and then family game night is cancelled

consistently has the cleanest bedroom in the house

very logical and efficient. comes up with her own systems so she can be the best at everything.

becomes an english teacher. all her siblings say they feel bad for her students. she eventually becomes a principal. they say the same thing about the entire school.

adam emiliano goldman

born february 14, 2032

total mama’s boy. loves his mom and hangs out with her all the time. even in his teens. he doesn’t care what anyone says about that.

she calls him lovebug because he was born on valentines day

very smart, witty, and energetic

really a heartbreaker tbh

naturally gets attention by just who he is as a person

this enrages amalia

he loves school but always gets sent to the office for arguing with teachers. this happens throughout his entire schooling from kindergarten to senior year

rosa is so proud every time

very into his video games. and this is in the future so i bet it’s super cool and VR by then.

weirdly good at rapping and most of the family’s kinda unsure how they feel about this

gets into 90s east coast rap and buzz tell him he was there he was a toddler but he was there

he listens to so much old school rap it really amps him up

isn’t intimidated by anyone. constantly stands up to bullies no matter who they’re targeting.

he get’s buzz’s height - ends up being even taller at 6′4″ - and gets pretty good at basketball. he even goes to college on a basketball scholarship.

buzz hangs a hoop in the driveway and they play so much

buzz sees him playing basketball on tv for the first time and cries real dad tears

science nerd - loves chemistry specifically

becomes a research chemist

Previously:

“Ada and I had our suspicions about said information and Molly confirmed them a few weeks ago,” Polly stated.

“What information? What suspicions? ,” John asked, confused. 

Tommy looked John straight in the eyes,” We believe Esme is stepping out on you with another man.”

John looked at his aunt and siblings with a blank expression,” How do you know? What’s Molly has to do with this?”

Polly reaches across the table to grab Johns hand,” We have reason to believe that Jacob has been seeing Esme for months now. Molly said he hasn’t been coming home lately and when he does it’s usually really late. I’ve noticed the few times I’ve watched your kids at night, that Esme is no where to be found,” Polly sighed and continued,” John you said it yourself she’s been spending a lot of time away from the house. I don’t think she’s been going to her brothers.”

John couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Yes, he may not be in love with Esme, but he did care about her.  He and Esme never really talked about their marriage or talked at all really. They're friendly and loving around the kids and they always sleep in the same bed, but they’ve never been intimate. 

“Does Molly know? ,” John asks.

Tommy sighs, looking at the rest of the family, “Not that we know of. We need to know if you are willing to help prove she’s been stepping out on you. It’s the only way you and Molly are ever going to be together.”

John scoffed,” Of course I will. I want to be with Molly more than anything else.”

Tommy smiles,” Good, the meeting is adjourned then.”

As the family filed out of the house, John stayed a few extra minutes still trying to process all the information he learned. Ada noticed and grabbed her brother's arm,” Why don’t you walk me to Molly’s? That way you have an excuse to see the babies.”

John nodded as they walked out the door. They walked across the lane in silence. Once at the door, Ada knocked softly, hoping not to wake the babies if they were sleeping. After a few minutes, Jacob opened the door and let the pair in.

“Molly trying to get the little lass to settle down to sleep. She’s been crying for a while. They are in the nursery. Ada I’ll show you to the guest room,” Jacob said softly.

The three made their way up the stairs. John knocked softly on the nursery door. He heard a soft come in and opened the door. As the door opened, Molly looked up hoping it was Ada so she could tell her what to do. Molly was surprised to see John.

“I wasn’t expecting to see you until tomorrow John. What are you doing here? ,” Molly asked him.

“I walked Ada over and Jake told us our Ellie here has been fussy since I left. I thought I would try to help you put her down so you can get some sleep. Will you let me try while you get ready for bed? ,” John explained.  Molly nodded, handing the crying baby to John. 

“Come here sweetheart,” John cooed taking the baby into his arms,” What are you fussing about? Do you just want daddy?” 

Molly smiled as John placed a kiss against the side of her head,” Go get ready for bed. I’ll stop in before I go.” 

John stayed for a little while just rocking the baby to sleep. He placed a kiss on her little forehead before placing her into her bassinet. He then ran his finger over his sleeping son's cheek lovingly. As he left, he popped into Molly’s room, only to find her fast asleep.  John hoped the babies wouldn’t be too much trouble for her tonight. 

As he made his way back downstairs, John noticed Jacob sitting on the sofa,” I’m heading back home Jake. I know Ada is here, but please call me if you need to. No matter what Molly says.”

Jacob stood up,” Absolutely. Are you okay mate?”

John sighed as he ran his hand over his face,” Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired,” John then pulled Jake into a hug,” Thank you for taking care of her all these months. You really stepped up when I need you too.”

“Of course. There is no need to thank me,” Jacob said,” she’s my sister. I would do anything for her.”

“I know you would,” John said as he pulled out of the hug,” You have anything you want to tell me?”

Jacobs eyes widened,” No, why do you ask? ,” he questioned.

“No reason. Just thought I should ask,” John said as he pats his shoulder,” I’ll see you tomorrow.” 

As John walked out of the house, Jacob followed to lock the door. He then went back to the sofa and ran his hands through his hair. Did they know about his new girlfriend?

 The next morning, John woke up to the sound of the someone throwing up. Thinking it was one of the kids, John got up quickly and made his way to the loo. He was shocked to see that it was Esme,” You alright Es? ,” he asked, pulling her hair back. 

“Yeah I’m fine. I got up last night to have a glass of milk and it must have gone off. Didn’t smell bad,” she answered as she stood and wiped her mouth,” My stomach has been playing up all night because of it.” 

“You could have woken me. I could have at least held your hair back”

Esme shook her head,” You’ve had a busy couple of days, so I saw no need. I’m gonna head down to start breakfast, then I have to get over to Pollys to start cooking for the party.” 

“Okay hun,” John continued, “Make sure we toss that milk. I’ll get some clothes on and get some fresh here in a minute.”

Esme nodded as she pushed past him. John didn’t know how he was going to get her to admit if she was stepping out, but one way or another he would get the truth out of her. 

Meanwhile, over at Molly’s, she had been woken up by the sounds of her very sad and very hungry babies. She padded her way into the nursery, rubbing her eyes and yawning. 

“What’s a matter my little loves,” she said quietly walking into the room,” Are you both just so hungry? Let me change your nappies and then mummy will feed you.” 

After Molly had changed them, she grabbed both of them, kissed their little heads and headed downstairs. Ada was in the kitchen making them some breakfast,” Morning Molly, did you sleep okay? I didn’t hear the babies at all last night.”

Molly smiled as she settled herself on the sofa and got the babies ready to feed,” I slept okay, but woke due to my breasts aching when it was time to feed them. I think I was in the room before they even knew they were hungry,” she laughed looking down at them. 

“Jeez, is that all I’m gonna be hearing from now on? How much your tits hurt,” Jacob joked as he walked into the room. He noticed Molly trying to cover herself, but was struggling due to her holding up both babies. 

“No need to cover sis,” he said, kissing the back of her head,” I know what tits look like.”

Molly’s face went completely red. Luckily Ada came to her rescue,” Yes, Jake you may know what they look like, but you don’t need to know what your sisters look like,” she yelled as she helped Molly cover herself and smack the back of Jacobs head,” Now off you go! Go do your Blinder stuff and make sure you over at the house for dinner later.” 

“Now that he is gone, How about you let me cuddle my niece and nephew while you eat,” Ada said making grabby hands for the babies. Molly nodded, handing them over then made her way to the table. 

After breakfast, Ada had left for Pollys, leaving Molly truly alone with the babies for the first time.  She was a little overwhelmed, both babies were fussy and wouldn’t lay down for a nap. Molly didn’t know what was wrong, they had been changed and fed. Her head was spinning. How could she ever think she could do this alone.  Molly made her way over to the phone crying. She hoped that John was at his house.

“John Shelby residence”

“John,” Molly cried.

“Molly love what’s wrong are the babies okay? ,” John asked through the phone worried.

“I can’t get them to settle,” she sniffed,” Can you please come over?”

“I’ll be there in a minute love. I’ll let myself in okay,” he continued.

“Okay, thank you,” she whispered, hanging up the phone. 

She sat at the top of the stairs listening to her babies cry as she cried. Five minutes later, she heard the door open and shut. She watched as John took his coat off, laying it on the table. 

John could hear the babies crying from the parlor. He hurried himself up the stairs, but stopped when he saw Molly with her head in her hands and tears streaming down her face. He took her in his arms and carried her to her bedroom,” My love, why are you crying?”

“They won’t stop crying. I’m a terrible mother. I don’t know what’s wrong,” Molly cried. 

John kissed her forehead,” Love I’m sure they just have a bit of a tummy ache. You didn’t do anything wrong. Let me go get them and we will lay down.”

John made his way to the nursery,” Hey you two, that’s enough now. You made mummy cry. We can’t have you all crying now can we?”

As soon as both babies were in Johns arms, their cry’s stopped,” Do you two just want to be together? You don’t like it when we separate you both?”

Walking back to Molly’s room, John found her laying on the bed, facing away from the door,” Love I think I figured out why they were crying. Will you roll over and cuddle with us?”

“No John, they don’t like me. They don’t want me,” she answered softly. 

Laying the babies in the bed gently, John walked over to Molly and pulled her chin to make her look at him,” You are their mother. They love you and need you. I know you are still tired from giving birth to them and your hormones are mad right now, but I don’t ever want to hear you say you are a bad mother. You are a wonderful mother,” John said sternly,” They just want to be close to another. You set them in their separate bassinets and they didn’t like that. Now come cuddle with us and take a nap.”

Molly nodded and reached over to grab the babies while John climbed into bed with them,” I’m sorry I called you. I was just so overwhelmed. I’m sure you were busy.”

“You don’t ever need to apologize for calling me. I will always be here for you and them. No matter what,” John says quietly,” Close your eyes love. Have a rest. I’ll still be holding you when you wake up.”

The little family ended up falling asleep for hours. Molly and John were both woken by the sound of the front door opening and closing. They could hear the clicking of high heels coming up the steps, which meant Ada was back to check on Molly. 

Ada was surprised to see the little family cuddled up in Molly’s bed, “Seems you all had a nice nap. It’s nearly time for dinner. I’ve come back to help you get ready Molly.”

“Guess that’s my cue to go then,” John said, untangling himself from Molly,” Do you need anything from me?”

Ada shook her head at her brother,” I think I can handle helping her get ready. Why don’t you go change some nappies and change the littles into their outfits?”

John rolled his eyes playfully,” You get the fun job. Seeing my love of my life naked while I’m elbow deep in baby shit. I see how it is.”

“John Shelby,” Molly gasped. 

“Jesus John really,” Ada exclaimed.

“Alright, alright. I’m just winding you both up. I’ll be downstairs waiting. I’ll get them all cozy in the pram.”

Ada helped Molly get ready. Once Ada was finished, Molly didn’t recognize herself.  This was the first time in months that Molly felt like herself. The last time she got dressed up to go somewhere was when John had taken her to dinner in London.

The two made their way downstairs after Molly admired Adas work for a few minutes. They were met by John getting the babies settled into their pram. He looked over at Molly and a huge smile came across his face,” You look beautiful my love.” 

Molly blushed,” Oh John stop. It’s just a little powder to cover the dark rings around my eyes. I also still look pregnant so I’m sure I’m far from beautiful.”  John sighed and shook his head. He was about to say something, but Ada beats him to it.

“Molly why would you say that? You’ve always been beautiful and you always will be. So what if you have dark rings around your eyes, you’ve been carrying two babies around and you didn’t know. So what if you still look a little pregnant, you’ve just given birth two days ago,” Ada exclaimed,” I swear if Polly was here she would be so much more angry at you for saying that about yourself. If I ever hear you say anything like that about yourself again, I will go all Peaky Blinder on you.” Molly and Johns eyes went wide due to Adas outburst.

“Now, let's get you and these gorgeous babies over to dinner. I can’t go another minute without knowing their names,” Ada says once she’s calmed down.  Molly nodded while John pushed the pram through the house and out the door.

The Shelby house was buzzing from the time John and Molly walked though the door. Everyone was so excited to meet the two new additions to the Shelby clan. Molly was so overwhelmed with joy that she couldn’t contain her tears.

“Why are you crying love? ,” John asked when he noticed. 

Molly wiped her eyes,” They are happy tears. I’m so happy that our babies have so many that love them.”

John pulled her into his side,” They love you too Molly. Everyone always has,” he says kissing the side of her head,” now, let’s go eat before our babies decide they want their dinner.”  He pulled her toward the table and sat her down next to him. 

As dinner went on, Molly couldn’t help but smile as both of her babies were passed around from person to person. John, however, was watching Esme and Jacob. The two were seated next to each other, which he knew his aunt had something to do with.  He couldn’t help but notice how close they were sitting and every once they would whisper in each others ears, causing the other to smile. He was brought out of his thoughts by Polly bringing the babies over to him and Molly. 

“Now that dinner is almost finished, I believe we’ve all waited long enough to learn these gorgeous little ones names,” Polly said happily. 

“Well, firstly, I would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate the our newest additions,” John said, standing up while holding his hand out to help Molly stand,” We both appreciate it very much. Most of you know, I delivered these two with my bare...”

“Oh John! Just get on with it brother,” Arthur exclaimed causing everyone to laugh. 

“Yeah, John Boy! We are all here to find out the names then we can get back to drinking,” Johnny Dogs states after Arthur, causing even more laughter. Only this time it woke the babies that were peacefully sleeping in their mother’s arms.

“Alright, alright, look what you’ve both done,” John said, taking the boy from Molly and gently rocking him,” We’ve decided to name our little man Benjamin Thomas and our little lady Eleanor Jean.”  The cheers that erupted from the Shelby home could be heard across the entire lane.

“Let’s raise our glasses to Benjamin and Eleanor,” Thomas says aloud,” welcome to the family little ones.”

As Benji and Ellie were passed around some more, Molly couldn’t help but notice her brother had disappeared. Now that she wasn’t pregnant anymore, she was going to hopefully get some answers from her brother about what was going on with him these last few months. 

Molly walked over to Polly and Ada,” Have either of you seen my brother? ,” she asked them. Before they could answer, both babies started to get really fussy. 

“You know what, never mind.” she said, taking the babies from them,” I’m going to go upstairs and feed them then I think I’ll take them back home. I’m starting to get a little tired.”  Polly and Ada nodded as they watched Molly turn and ascend the stairs. They both then gathered John, Thomas and Arthur to tell them that it was time Molly knew what was going on with Jacob. Although John was a little nervous to let her in, he knew it would be the right thing to do.

As Molly walked up the stairs, the babies became more and more fussy,” I know little ones, I know you are hungry. We are almost there.”  Once she entered Johns old bedroom, she was surprised to see Katie sitting on the floor alone.

“Katie darling, what are you doing up here on your own? , she asked as she sat on the bed.  Katie just shrugged her shoulders and looked down at the floor. 

Molly sighed,” Well are you okay with us sitting in here with you while they eat?” Katie just nodded her head, still not looking up from the floor.  Molly settled herself on the bed and got the babies settled enough to eat.

A little while later, after the babies finished eating, Katie finally spoke up,” Is my dad going to leave us to live with you and the babies?”

Molly gasped,” Darling, what makes you think that?”

Katie finally looked up at Molly with tears in her eyes,” My friend Lola said that her dad had a baby with another woman and then he left and never came back. Is dad going to leave us with Esme?”

Darling, come here and sit with me please,” Molly said calmly as she set the babies in the bassinet next to the bed and moved over slightly. She watched the young girl get up from the floor and climb onto the bed and settled into her side.

“Now I need you to listen to me sweet girl,” Molly starts making Katie look at her,” I will NEVER take your father away from you and your brothers. I will always make sure your father puts you and your brothers needs first. I’m sorry that my presence in your life and these babies made you feel like we were taking him from you.”  Molly leaned down to kiss the crying girl on the head while holding her tight.  She herself was silently crying as she wondered if the boys felt the same way.

The two sat on the bed for a while until the young girl spoke again,” Is Esme going to be my new mum?”

Molly’s eyes widened with shock.” First off, no one will ever be able to replace your mother, and secondly, I’m not sure if she will be your new mother figure.”

“But I don’t want her to be my mum,” Katie whimpered,” I want you to be my mum. My dad hasn’t been this happy since before he left for war. Esme doesn’t make him happy.”  Molly’s eyes soften at the girl. No seven year old should have to have this conversation with anyone. 

“Darling, a lot of grown up stuff has been going on these past few months, which has made a ton of changes in your life that you don’t understand. But I know for a fact Esme will continue to be a wonderful mother to you all if she stays in your lives,” Molly explained. She then grabbed Katie’s chin to make her look up at her,” But I promise you, I’m not going anywhere. You can come talk to me anytime. My door will always be open for you,” she smiled,” And I guess I’ll leave it open for those brothers of yours too.” 

Katie smiled and laughed as she gently wrapped her arms around Molly,” Thank you,” she murmured into her chest,” My mum was right, you are one of the kindest people in the world.” 

Molly smiled as her eyes teared a little,” When did she say that?”

“Mum used to always tell us stories of when she was younger,” Katie explained,” She always said she regretted hurting you because you were always so kind.”

 Before Katie could continue, John yelled as he came up the stairs,” Katie girl, come on, it’s time for you to head home for bed.”  Katie hugged Molly one more time before running out of the room. 

John stopped her to give her a kiss on the head,” Be quiet heading down the stairs, your little brothers are asleep.  I’ll be home as soon as I get Molly and the babies back to her home. If you're still awake, I’ll come tell you a story.”  Katie nodded and gently ran down the stairs. 

When John found Molly, she was wiping her eyes with the backs of her hands. “You okay love? ,” John asked with concern.

“Oh, I’m fine. You know hormones,” she said not wanting to let him know about her and Katie’s conversation just yet. 

“Okay, well are you ready to head home? I can walk you over and get the pram in the house,” John asked.  Molly nodded and grabbed Benjamin from the bassinet. John followed suit and grabbed Eleanor. They both walked down the stairs and said goodnight to everyone. 

Once they arrived back at Molly’s, John offered to help her put the babies to bed,” I can handle putting them to bed. I heard you promise someone a story, so go home and we will see you sometime tomorrow.”

John nodded and pulled Molly in for a kiss,” Okay my love. I’ll see you tomorrow. Call if you need anything. I love you.” 

“I will if I need to and I love you more,” she said kissing him again.  She watched as John walked out the door and across the lane to his home. 

Once she got the babies fed and put to sleep, she got herself ready for bed. She couldn’t stop thinking about her conversation with Katie. John never told her that Martha talked about her to the kids. She could help but smile at all the memories they shared as children. Martha had been Molly’s best friend for so long. 

Looking up and the sky through her open bedroom window, she sighed and spoke aloud,” I promise I will be a wonderful mother to your children, Martha. But I need you to help me. Help me figure out how to be with the man we’ve both loved all of our lives.” 

After she spoke, she felt a gust of wind swirl around her and knock over a photo of her and John from when they were teenagers that she had on her dresser. Molly smiled and took that as an answer from Martha that she was going to help.

The morning came fast for Molly, considering the babies hadn’t woken up nearly as much as they had been. Once they were fed and happy, Molly laid them on her bed, so she could get ready for the day. She listened as the two cooed back and forth with each other. While she was getting ready, she could hear Jacob downstairs making breakfast.

“Well, my little loves, should we go see what uncle Jake made mummy for breakfast? ,” she cooed at them as she scooped them up.

“What’s for breakfast Uncle Jake,” Molly asks once she is down the stairs. She then placed the babies in their bassinet and heads for the table.

“Eggs, toast and jam,” Jacob answers placing a plate in front of Molly,” I went out and got fresh jam from the market this morning. I couldn’t sleep, so I was up early.”

Molly gave him a sad smile,” We all are nervous about today, but we must try to be positive,” she encouraged. Jacob could tell she was also trying to convince herself that she needed to be positive. He smiled back at her, and then they both continued to eat their breakfast.

A little while later, there was a knock at the door. Jacob stood to answer it while Molly quickly fed the babies again. Jacob came back followed by John. He smiled as he kissed the back of Molly’s head, watching as the babies realized who he was. John took them from Molly and snuggled them close before placing them in their pram.

“You both ready to go? Everyone else should be waiting outside,” John says, pushing the pram toward the door. Molly and Jacob nod their heads and follow him.

Molly, Jacob and the Shelby’s walked through the streets toward Charlie’s yard. She was getting more nervous the closer they got. John could sense her nervousness and wrapped his strong arm around her. Molly relaxed a little at the gesture.

Once they all made it to Charlie’s, Molly greeted Uncle Charlie and Curly with kisses on the cheek. She then made her way to a chair at the end of the table. Now all they had to do was wait for Zilpha and the rest of the Lees to show up.

Moments later, Zilpha, Esme and the rest of the Lees enter Charlie’s yard. After some greeting, everyone takes a seat around the table. There was an eerie silence among the families, until Zilpha finally spoke up,” So it seems my daughter is pregnant and I can only assume who the father is.”

The entire family gasps at Zilpha’s remark. Molly quickly looks up and over at John. She could see his blood starting to boil. He was about to say something, but Tommy cut him off,” Now Zilpha, you shouldn’t go around assuming things.”

“Well, she’s pregnant, which means she and your brother consummated this marriage,” she snapped back.

John was now livid,” I never touched her,” he yelled, causing Eleanor to start crying.

Molly quickly grabbed her from the pram, gently rocking her, so she would calm down. All eyes were now on her,” Sorry,” she whispers.

“As John was saying, he never touched Esme,” Thomas continued,” he admitted to the family that he was still angry for being forced to marry that he didn’t think of touching her in that way. Right John?”

John shook his head,” Yes, that’s correct. Then shortly after, we found out Molly had been pregnant with my children. But you knew that already.” John then got up from his chair and made his way over to Molly,” Now I’ve done what you asked. I stayed married to your daughter for six months. In those six months, we did not fall in love with each other. We both fell in love with other people,” John then placed his hands on Molly’s shoulders,” or in my case, I fell more in love with someone as her belly expanded, and she birthed my children, into my own hands. I’m begging you to annul the marriage, so I can have this woman here, the love of my life, to be a mother to my other children that are at home.”

Molly turned herself to look up at John with a teary smile. A silent thank you for his wonderful words. John smiled back at her, wiping her tears and placing a loving kiss on her forehead.

“You see Zilpha, John would never be intimate with anyone else. He would never want to jeopardize his relationship he’s mended with Molly,” Thomas continues again,” Now the marriage between John and Esme was my fault. I didn’t know he and Molly had been seeing each other privately again. My agenda today is to get the marriage annulled, we can talk about the truce at a later date.”

“If he claims to have never touched her, explain to me how she is pregnant now? ,” Zilpha asks.

Molly’s eyes, then met Jacobs. This was the moment He was going to be outed. She was nervous for him and for Esme. She lent back in her chair, rest her head on John. He squeezed her shoulder lightly, letting her know he was there.

“Well, we have reason to believe that Esme has been stepping out on John for a while now, with a man that we consider family. Why don’t we hear her side of the story? ,” Thomas answers. All eyes shifted to Esme. Jacob was sitting beside her, trying his best not to reach out and comfort her.

“Well, go on then Esme,” Zilpha say,” tell me what’s really been going on here.”

Molly could see the fear in Esme’s eyes. A look of she doesn’t want to stand up to her mother, and she wants to deny everything being said. Molly knew if she didn’t speak up now, the lives of two families would be turned upside down in the nearing future.

“Esme,” Molly says in a calm tone, grabbing her attention,” Please tell the truth. I can see the fear in your eyes, I know you are afraid to stand up to your mother. Think of the children, think of our children. Do you want your baby growing up confused about who their father is? Do you want my babies to continue to grow up away from their father and siblings?” Esme shakes her head, no, as tears fall from her eyes.

“Then you need to tell the truth, so we both can be with our true loves,” Molly continues,” Please, if you don’t do it for me or for John, then do it for his children, our children.”

Esme sighs and nods her head,” It’s true mother, I met someone else and I wasn’t faithful during this marriage. I’ve been seeing a man I met at a pub, a few weeks before anyone knew Molly was expecting. We’ve been seeing each other in secret since then, and he has been nothing but lovely to me. I’m sorry mother but I’m not in love with John, and John is not in love with me. I’m in love with someone else.”

Zilpha rolls her eyes,” Marrying you off was my way to get you to stop messing around. Clearly that didn’t work out at all. Who the hell is it then? Who are you so in love with that you ruined a truce for?”

Jacob stood and wrapped an arm around Esme,” It’s me, Ms Lee. My name is Jacob Payne-Evans, I’m Molly’s younger brother. I know it may come off like I pursued Esme as a way to avenge my sisters broken heart, but that wasn’t the case. Esme and I met at the Garrison, a pub the Shelby’s own. She came in alone one evening, sat next to me, and we talked for hours. She never told me she was married and I didn’t realize she was Johns new wife until days later. We both agreed to start seeing each other in secret after the first meeting. We soon fell in love with each other and starting being intimate,” Jacob then rests his other hand on Esme’s small baby bump,” which has led us to this wonderful life growing inside your daughter. Ms. Lee, I am in love with your daughter and would love a chance of a life with her and my child. We are begging you to rethink this marriage truce.”

Zilpha stared at Jacob and Esme for a while, as she took in all the new information. She then turned back to Thomas,” The cap, he’s one of your blinders? Do you trust him? ,” she asks.

“He doesn’t have to be a blinder for us to trust him, he is family, we don’t trust anyone who isn’t family,” Thomas answers.

Zilpha stands from her seat,” Give me some time and I will be back shortly with my decision.”

The Shelby family watches as she and the rest of the Lees walk off to their wagons. Esme follows at her mother’s request, leaving Jacob with the family.

“Well, I think that went pretty well,” Polly says, breaking the silence.

“I, too, think that went well” Thomas agrees.

“Just hope it bloody works out in our favor,” John says, trying to settle Benjamin who started to get fussy.

“I need to feed them. Uncle Charlie, may I use the barn for some privacy? ,” Molly asks, trying to calm Eleanor.

Charlie nods and has Molly and John follow him to an area he and Curly set up for her,” Hope you don’t mind sitting on some hay. I’ll throw some coal in the heater, should warm up in a couple of minutes.”

“Thanks Charlie,” John says, handing Ben over to Molly,” we shouldn’t be long.” Charlie then leaves the two alone. John takes a seat next to Molly,” You’ve been quite today my love.”

John helps her wrap a blanket around her chest,” I’m just nervous John and tired,” she replies, rest her head on Johns shoulder,” You think this will go in our favor?”

He sighs,” I think so, but Zilpha is hard to read.”

“Did you mean the things you said? The ones about falling more in love with me,” Molly asks.

“I’ve never stopped loving you,” he reassured her,” I fell more in love with you the second you walked back into my life and it’s grown that sometimes when I see you my heart wants to explode.” John then grabs her chin, pulling her face to look at him,” Nothing is going to keep me away from you. It’s always been you Molly.” He then pressed a soft kiss to her lips but was interrupted by someone clearing their throat.

The two looked over to see Arthur standing by the door to the barn,” Lees are back at the table. You almost ready?”

John opened the blanket for Molly to peek at the babies,” If I take them off now they will just fuss. Can you give us another few minutes? They are starting to look sleepy, so we should be done soon.” Arthur nodded and went back to the table.

After a few minutes, both babies were now asleep in their mother’s arms. John carefully helped Molly stand,” Give me one more kiss before we know our fate? ,” she asked. John happily kissed her again and lead her out of the barn toward the family’s.

At the table, John pulled Molly’s chair out for her while she placed the babies back into their pram,” My apologies for returning late. They wanted to eat more than usual.”

Zilpha gives her a small smile,” No need to apologize dear. We women know when a baby is hungry, they must eat,” she paused for a moment,” Now that we are all here, I’ve come to a decision about both the marriage and the truce.”

A few weeks had passed since the night Molly had officially forgotten about the past. She and John would still meet up almost every night. Johns excuse was always making up for the lost time. Molly would just laugh. Jacob has taken a notice to his sisters new-found happiness. He thought maybe there was a new man in her life, but he would never ask.

Molly had been waking up not feeling well for a few weeks now. She brushed it off, of course, thinking it was just because she was being more active than before. The nauseous feeling would usually go away once she had breakfast.

Today she was running late. John kept her out later than usual the previous night. She was headed over to Johns anyways to mind the kids. It was becoming more of a regular thing now. Their usual nanny needed to start having a day off during the week. Molly was happy when she and Tommy made the new arrangement. She would keep Finn four days a week, mind Johns kids, whichever day she was needed to, and tidied up the betting shop twice a week.

Running down the stairs, Molly yelled a quick goodbye to Jacob, who laughed at his sister for running around like a mad woman, and ran out the door toward Johns. She let herself in and ran herself right into John. Luckily he caught her before she fell over.

“Well, good morning love, what are you running around like a mad woman for? ,” John said, steadying her.

John then saw her face go a little green, and within seconds her hand was over her mouth while running to the kitchen sink. He followed to hold her hair back while she emptied her stomach. He kept his hand on the small of her back until she was done. Once she leaned into him, he guided her over to the sofa for her to lie down.

“You could have called and told me you were sick. I can stay home today so you can go back and rest,” he said, moving some of her hair out of her face.

“I’m fine. I just need to eat. I overslept and didn’t have time to grab some toast. I’ve been feeling this way for a few weeks now. Please go to work. I’m honestly fine,” she said sitting up.

She eventually convinced him to leave, but not until after he watched her eat something. John had worried about her all day, so he asked Finn to go down a few times just to check on her. He came back every time saying she was just fine.

But much to Molly’s stubbornness, she knew something was going on with her. The sickness feeling hadn’t gone away all day. She also had a massive headache and a few dizzy spells. The children were picking up on it throughout the day. Molly wasn’t as attentive to them like she usually was. Molly had planned an evening out for all of them to go to the pictures. The children had been excited all day. But she was completely exhausted.

“Kids, why don’t you go get cleaned up, and then we will head out,” she said rubbing her head from the sofa. After many excited cheers, she heard them all run up the stairs. What she didn’t hear was John coming through the door with bags from the shop. When she did notice, it startled her.

“John, what are you doing home so early? ,” she asked as she stood up, but stumbled a little because she was dizzy. Once she steadied herself, she walked over to help put the groceries away. She was hoping John didn’t see it, but she was wrong.

He walked over to her and placed a hand on her cheek,” I came home because I was worried about you. I know you were lying to Finn today. You look paler than you did when I left,” he said with a sigh, “I’m going to make us some soup. Polly gave me a list of everything I needed and how to make it.”

Molly leaned her head into his hand,” You don’t have to. I’m supposed to be taking the kids to the pictures. That’s all they’ve talked about all day. I don’t want to disappoint them.”

“Polly said she and Ada will take them. Ada wants to get out of where she and Freddie are staying. Pol also said that she will keep Finn tomorrow as long as you agree to go to the doctors,” he reassured her.

John then took her hand and guided Molly back to the sofa, helping her lie down, “Now let me help the kids finish getting ready, then I’ll start the soup. I’m going to get you a pain relief tablet as well. I can tell your head is hurting.”

“Okay, thank you,” Molly whispered, closing her eyes. John then leant over to kiss her forehand causing Molly to smile. He then headed upstairs to the kids. Once they were all ready, he told them to be quiet going down the steps as Molly was resting.

There then was a soft knock on the door and John explained to the children that Polly and Ada were taking them instead of Molly. That earned a couple sad faces, but John promised that one day soon he and Molly would take them. He kissed each of them as they walked out the door.

“ Keep an eye on our Molly,” she winked, “we will be back later.”

John shut the door and walked back into the kitchen, grabbing the pain tablet from the cabinet for Molly and a glass of water. He was surprised to see her fast asleep.

“Hey, I got you that tablet love,” he whispered while gently shaking her. Molly grabbed it from him, swallowed it, smiled and then shut her eyes again. John chuckled and took that as a thank you and then went to start the soup.

Later, Molly was awoken by the smell of the soup. She sat up and stretched realizing her headache had vanished. She then walked over to John, who was still standing by the stove, wrapping her arms around his waist, feeling him jump a little, “Thank you for letting me rest and for the tablet. I feel so much better. Supper smells amazing.”

John spun around in her embrace to face her, kissing the side of her head, “I think it will taste even better. Go sit down I’ll bring some over for us.”

The two sat across the table from each other. They talked about how each other's day had gone. Molly had told John that the kids brought up about wanting to ask him if they could have a dog, which made the two laugh.

John reaches across the table to grab Molly’s hand, “So I called a family meeting today before I went to the shops and came home.”

Molly over at John,” Oh... what was it about? ,” she said nervously.

John then got up and knelt in front of her, kissing her hand,” It was about how the kids needed a mother and that I wanted to get married.”

Molly then looked away from John and tears formed in her eyes as she muffled a slight sob into her free hand.

“Hey why you cryin’? ,” he said, pulling her face back to look at him and wiping her tears,” I want to marry you silly. I think it’s time we tell the family and Jake.”

“Is this your way of asking me to marry you? ,” she said, tears still running down her face.

“I know I don’t need permission to get married to the woman I love, but they didn’t say yes, which is why I want to tell them in a few days. Then I’ll ask you properly,” he said with a goofy grin.

“Well, I already know my answer, but I’ll wait to give it to you,” she replied as she leant down to kiss him.

John then picked her up from the chair and moved their make out session to the sofa. Things were about to get more heated when Molly noticed the time.

“John,” she said, trying to catch her breath,” as much as I hate to stop, I should get home. Pol and Ada should be back soon with the kids.”

John groaned in frustration,” I can’t wait until we tell them. Then I can kiss ya whenever I feel like it.”

Molly laughed, placing a playful smack on his cheek,” Few days my love.”

While Molly gathered her things, John checked to make sure the coast was clear of the kids and Polly. “Think your good love,” he said,” I don’t see anyone on the lane.”

Molly walked over to him and place a kiss on his cheek, “I’m going to take a quick trip up to London in the morning to go see my doctor and get my records. Seeing as I won’t be leaving Small Heath, I should probably find a doctor ‘round here,” she said with a smile,” Could you tell Polly for me please? I should be back in time to tidy the shop.”

“I guess I know the answer to my question from earlier,” John returning the smile,” I’ll let Pol know about Finn.”

The two then shared a kiss. Molly was almost out the door when she turned around to John,” Goodnight Mr. Shelby.”

“Goodnight future Mrs. Shelby,” John replied with a huge grin on his face.

Molly’s trip to London was quick. She had seen her doctor and had gotten the copies she needed for the Small Heath doctor. She was a little surprised by the doctors' diagnosis on why she wasn’t feeling well, but she was also very excited.

She had a little time before her train back to Birmingham, so she stopped by to see a couple old friends and to have lunch at her favorite café. But of course the train back didn’t arrive until later than she expected, so she was late arriving to the betting shop.

She rushed through the door and set her stuff down on the table. She noticed a light was still on in Tommy’s office meaning he was still there.

“Tommy I’m so sorry I’m late. I ran up to London and the train was late. I promise it won’t happen again,” she said in a panic as she walked into his office.

Tommy stood up to grab her shoulder, “Molly it’s okay. John and Polly told me. They also said you haven’t been feeling well. Are you okay?”

Molly looked at him,” Yes, I’m fine. I had an appointment scheduled for the doctor in London’s before I left. So I decided to go and collect my records. I’m staying here, in Small Heath, for a while.”

Tommy smiled, “Well, good. We all like having you back around. You’ve been doing a good job around here and with Finn.”

“Thanks Tommy,” she smiled back,” I should start, I don’t want to be here all night.”

Tommy went back around to his desk to grab his jacket,” I’ll be heading out now, but I wanted you to be the first to know. I’ve arranged John to marry a Lee girl in two days, as a truce between our families.”

Molly couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Just when she thought she was going to get everything she wanted.

She stood in the doorway, unable to really think,” Oh...um okay.” Her heart completely shattering to pieces right in front of her.

“I know you both are friendly and speaking again. I would like you to get him ready and then send him our way. He will be in a better mood if he sees you first. Is that alright? ,” Tommy asked, walking to the door.

“Yes, I’ll make sure he goes,” she said softly. Tears filled her eyes as Tommy opened the door.

“Good, have a good night Molly,” he said as he walked out the door.

Molly then let all the tears fall. She sobbed as she sunk to the floor with her hand on her stomach.

She looked up and remembered the papers sitting on the table. They fell out of her bag when she ran into the shop. They were her test results from the doctor.

“But Tommy, I’m pregnant,” she sobbed aloud.

Waiting for the betting shop to close, Molly started to get anxious. When Tommy spoke with her on the phone, he said he would send everyone home early, so she wouldn’t run into the family. She didn’t know how they all reacted to her leaving. They were all distracted with having to figure out what to do about John and Martha’s pregnancy.  Tommy was the only one who knew when Molly left and where she was going. 

Molly was pulled out of her thoughts when Jacob told her he had seen everyone leave. He also said it looked like Tommy was waiting outside for her. Molly slipped her coat on and grabbed her bag. “Do me a favor and tidy mums room for me. That’s where I want to sleep,” she says as she kissed her brother on the cheek and gave him a reassuring smile as she walked out the door. 

She quickly walked across the street toward Tommy and the two exchanged hellos. Tommy then held the door open for her and once they were both inside, Tommy led her to the office and gestured for her to sit. 

She looked around the shop and the home. Nothing had changed much. This was the place she spent most of her time as a child. Their mother, Polly and her mother were best friends and this would be where they would all meet to chat. Even though this place was so familiar to her, she was anxious being back in it. 

Tommy went to sit at his desk, watching the girl in front of him shake with anxiety. He cleared his throat, causing the girl to look over at him, “So Molly, why are you so nervous?”

Molly looked down at her hands and sighed,” I’m not nervous,” she lied, “just embarrassed. After everything you have done for Jake and me, he goes and fucks it up.”

“How do you suppose we handle this then,” Tommy asks. She then reaches down for her bag and pulls out a wad of money. 

“This should be twenty-five percent of what he took. I’ve got another fifty arriving in a few days with the rest of my belongs. I’ve quit both my jobs, so I’m here in Small Heath for the foreseeable future,” she says as she places the money on the desk in front of her. 

“I’ll do whatever you need Tommy until the debt is paid.”

“You were a nanny in London right? Are you okay with watching over Johns kids and Finn and keeping this place clean?” Tommy offers. “I understand if you are not, but there isn’t much else I can offer you that’s far enough away from our business.”

“I’ll do it”, she say as she exhales the breath she was holding. 

“Are you sure? ,” he asked. Molly then just nodded her head.

“Well, it’s settled then. You can stay here if you’d like or across the street with Jacob. Everyone usually leaves at the same time every day. I’m assuming you’ll want to clean during the evening. You’ll only be needed to watch Johns kids when his in house nanny is not around. And Finn, he will be around all the time. Polly told us we need to keep him away from all of this.”

Molly chuckled a little watching him gesture to the surrounding area while rolling his eyes. “You know I’ll be fine with that. He’s been my favorite Shelby since the day he was born,” she says with a smile and stood up.“Now that business settled, let’s do that disgusting spit handshake thing you Shelby’s do and break out that whiskey I know you have hidden in your desk. Lord only knows I’m going to need it.”

Tommy smiled at her and laughed, “Sit back down! A regular handshake will do.” Tommy then leans down into the drawer grabbing the whiskey and two glasses. He pours the amber liquid into those glasses and push’s one over to her. “Welcome to Shelby Company Miss Payne,” as they raise their glasses. 

The pair had then spent a few hours catching up. Molly listened to the war stories, business stories and family stories. When Tommy told her what happened with Martha, she felt her heart grow heavy. The two had been best friends for a long time.  John had always come between them. They both fell pretty hard for him, and he always chose Molly. Until the one day he didn’t, and she left. 

“So how have you been? Did you like living in London? ,” Tommy asked, pulling Molly out of her thoughts?

She looked over at him with a smile, recalling all the memories, “When I first got there I hated it, but I knew I couldn’t bare to come back here, so I pushed through.  I was only sixteen, so I had nowhere to go. I lived on the street and luckily after two days, I had helped an older woman with her groceries and when she asked if I needed somewhere to stay, she let me stay with her. Then moved in with her son and his wife who needed some help with child care and had been with them ever since as their nanny.  I also put myself through nursing classes and midwifery classes. Eventually, I dated a few men,” she continued as she reached up to play with her necklace, “but they were never good to me, so I gave up.”

“I can’t believe you still wear that,” he said, pointing to the necklace.

It was the first real thing John had ever given her that was meaningful. It was their mothers' and Molly always admired it when she wore it. John said on her deathbed, she asked him to give it to Molly as a token of his love for her. And when he had given it to her, she never took it off even after all these years. 

“You still love him don’t you?”, Tommy continued curiously.

She stood up, ignoring Tommy’s statement. “I better get back. Jacob probably thinks you murdered me. Are you okay with me starting in a few days? I would like to get settled,” she said as she put her coat back on and grabbed her bag. 

Tommy gave her nod and walked her to the door.  Before she left she turned around to give him a hug and whispered,” To answer your question, Yes I still love him. I never stopped.” 

As she turned to leave, Tommy grabbed her wrist to face him again, “He never stopped asking where you had gone. In the back of his mind, he knew that I knew, but I never told him. Eventually he just stopped asking, and they just kept having kids. While we were away at war, he cried out for you at night. He’s always loved you Molly. He never stopped loving you either.”

“I’ll see you in a few days Thomas,” she says as she stepped out into the night. She was almost at her door when she heard Tommy yell something across the street. 

“It’s always been you Molly. It’s always been you.”

It's Always Been Molly

Part Three

A/N: Two updates in one weekend! Who am I lol! Another part is up!  You get a glimpse of the Mollys past in this one.  I apologize in advance if I offend anyone. PART ONE ; PART TWO

Warnings: language, mention of abuse, mention of murder and death, mention of pregnancy and childbirth, angst, alcohol (I’m trying really hard with these btw. If I leave something out I’m so sorry)

Two days after her meeting with Thomas, a friend was bringing the rest of her things from London. She had to meet him at the train station. 

Molly had woken up earlier than usual that day. As she walked down the hallway, she saw Jacobs door open. Walking down the steps, she could smell breakfast being made.  She was surprised to see her brother standing by the cooker. 

“When the ‘ell did you learn how to cook?”, she said as she sat down at the table and started making her plate. 

Jacob came to sit down with the rest of the meal,” The nice nanny Tommy hired to watch me after you left taught me.  I think her name was Helen. I just called her Nan. Dad wasn’t happy when he came back, and she was here instead of you.” He looked up at his sister waiting for her reaction. 

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, “Are we really going to talk about this now? I’ve been back for three days!”, she exclaimed. 

“You were never on the receiving end of Richards abuse. Mum and I protected you from that. He killed our mother, but paid off the police to rule it an accident. Then he tried to kill me the same way Jake. And don’t think I don’t know about the time he came home drunk, like he always did, and almost bloody shot you.”

Jacob looked over at his sister with wide eyes. That had happened about a year after she had left. He didn’t know she knew about that.  He begged Tommy not to tell anyone, especially her. And a few days later Tommy and Polly had come over to sign him into Helen’s custody, on Molly’s behave and told him his father was never coming back to hurt anyone again. 

“I was the one who told Tommy to have the Peaky Blinders finish him. Tommy told me they did it slowly and painfully. A way to punish him for what he did to me and our mother. For all the mental, physical, sexual abuse he bestowed on us. Tommy said in the end, John was the one who pulled the trigger. His way of a vengeance for being half the reason I had left,” Molly continued as she stared right at the brother with no emotion on her face.

Jacob reaches over the table to grab her hand, giving it a squeeze,” I was never sad. I was more relieved. And I’m not mad you called the order. Back then I hoped it would bring you back, but I’m happy you are here now. Even though, it’s my fault.”

“I told you not to worry about that. I’ve got everything settled. We are going to the train station this afternoon to get the rest of my things and then I’m officially here for a while,” she smiled. “Tommy said he called a family meeting to announce my homecoming and employment as the maid for the betting shop. We are both invited. At this meeting you will apologize and Tommy will then make you an offer. You’ll either become a Peaky Blinder or you’ll go to work with their horses. You have the afternoon to decide. And then tomorrow, we both start our new jobs.”

Jacob nodded in agreement knowing he didn’t have a choice. He was the one who let it slip to his friends about his relationship with the Shelby’s. He was going to help his sister make it right. 

As the clock struck noon, Molly and Jacob were at the train station waiting for the train from London to arrive. Soon Terry would arrive with the rest of her stuff, and they would never have to see each other again. Terry and Molly had an on then off kind of relationship. He was the landlord of her apartment building. When she got the call, they were off again, so he was relieved when she said she wouldn’t be back for a while. Unfortunately, he didn’t sign up to bring the rest of her stuff to her, so she knew he would be irritable when he got here. 

As the train pulled into the station and people started to exit, she could hear Terry grumbling in the distance. 

“Molly fucking Payne where are you?”, he screamed across the platform. 

“Well hello to you too Terry. This is my brother Jacob. Jacob this is Terry”, Molly said as she introduced them. Jacob stuck out his hand for a handshake, but Terry ignored him.

“Just give me the fuckin’ money, so I can get the ‘ell back to London,” he said dropping her bags at their feet. 

Molly handed him his money and he walked away. “I don’t know what the hell I ever saw in him. Must have been all the good alcohol he fed me and the cheap rent,” she chuckled and rolled her eyes. 

As they were gathering her bags, Molly looked up to see a man on one knee proposing to his lady with an older woman standing next to her. She thought to herself how cute that was and when they walked past the trio, she called out,” Congratulations.” 

This made the older woman look up, and she and Molly’s eyes met. Molly quickly, then looked away, hoping Polly didn’t recognize her, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

“Molly Payne. My sweet Molly!”, Polly exclaimed happily. She then grabbed the girl and wrapped her in a hug and kissed her forehead. 

Molly then realized the other two people with Polly were Ada and Freddie. She smiled when Ada pulled her into a hug as well. She gave a small hello nod to Freddie and mouthed sorry for ruining their moment. It wasn’t until Ada squeezed her really hard that she felt something poking between them. 

Molly pulled away with a giant smile on her face, “You’re pregnant!” She reached to put her hand on Adas small bump. 

Ada when leaned into Freddie, “We are! And just in time because by the looks of these bags, it could only mean auntie Molly is back in town.”

“When did you get back? Does anyone know you are here? Does John?”, Polly asked. 

Molly then explained that Tommy was the only one besides her brother, who was forgotten during the reunion, that she was here. But everyone, including John would find out tonight.  She made them promise not to say anything until then.  After they all agreed, they went their separate ways.

As the evening approached, Molly watched out the window as all the Shelbys arrived for their family meeting. Thomas called her after she had returned from the train station to tell her to come over around half past six. He wanted her to knock on the door and wait for him to come get them. 

She looked over at the clock. It was just after six. She got up from the sofa to head upstairs. “Hey, let’s start to get ready. We need to leave soon,” she said as she walked past his room on her way to hers. She sat at the vanity to fix her hair and then went over to the wardrobe to pick a dress. 

With one last look over herself in the mirror, she took a deep breath to calm the nerves that had suddenly appeared. She walked through the hall and down the steps, she notices it’s twenty past six. 

“Jake, please hurry up. I really don’t want to be late,” she said in an anxious tone as she fumbled around trying to get everything together but her hands were shaking.

Jacob came down the steps moments later chuckling,” We are walking across the street. We won’t be late.”  He then grabs the girl by her shoulders to stop her, “Molly, Molly! Stop! Everything will be fine. You look great. Everyone will be so happy to see you.”

“Yeah. Okay,” she said not convinced and took another deep breath.

The two then put their coats on and walked out the door across the street. As they approached the Shelby house, Molly was frozen with fear and anxiety. Jacob then took the initiative to knock on the door signaling they arrived.  Moments later Thomas answered the door and ushered her and Jacob in.  

“Wait here for just a minute”, Thomas whispered, walking back into the kitchen. 

“Now, onto the second reason I gathered you all here today. A few weeks ago, someone had broken into the betting shop after hours and took some money we left laying out,” Thomas looked around at each of his siblings and aunt,” Now part of that was our fault, but me and the Blinders found the boys that had done it and took care of them, except for one. I asked him to come here tonight to speak to us about how he will pay us back. Jacob, please come in here.”

Jacob followed Thomas into the room. “Hello everyone. I would first like to say I am deeply, deeply sorry for stealing from you. I fell into the wrong crowd, and they used my relationship with you all against me. I hope you all can forgive me. We will do everything we can to pay everything back. 

“We? Whose we?”, Arthur piped up.

“Yeah, whose we? You mean you and the redhead leaving your house every morning,” John said jokingly as he stood to wrap an arm around the boy. 

Now with Johns back to her, Molly thought it would be a good time to walk into the kitchen. All eyes were on her except for Johns, who didn’t hear her walk up behind him.  Polly and Ada were smiling, Thomas was smirking and Arthur’s mouth just dropped open. 

She then cleared her throat,” No, it’s me.”

Hearing the voice John hadn’t heard in eight years, his eyes widened with shock, and he turned around.  There was no way he was seeing and hearing correctly. He was speechless.

“Hello everyone. Hello John,” Molly going to grab a hold of her brother.

“Now that Jacob has apologized. I hope you all don’t mind, I’ll be working here, as the maid and nanny for Finn. I’ll also help with your children when needed John,” she said looking at him. His expression still shocked that she was standing there after all these years.

“Jacob here has decided to take a job as a Peaky Blinder, with everyone’s permission. I hope that him joining will help pay back everything you all have done for us.  I want you all to teach him how to keep the city safe. I hope to keep this place tidy and up to your standards, as well as keep Finn out of trouble,” Molly continued. 

Polly then stood up and came toward Jacob,” He’ll be a good man to help keep the pubs in check,” she then turned to Tommy,” You keep him away from the fighting for now. I can still sense the scared child in him.”

She then made her way over to Molly. She looked at her with sad eyes, sensing the fear in her heart. Polly then again turned to Tommy,” She doesn’t need to be involved. She doesn’t owe us anything,” Polly then moved her eyes over to John, who was now stood leaning against the wall,” She was almost family. She should have been rising with us not under us. Jacob being a Blinder should be enough to cover the damage.”

“A deal has already been set Polly. She and I sat down a few days ago and agreed to the terms,” Tommy said back.

“Well then undo it. The poor girl is still broken, I can sense it. Why would you make a decision like this and not consult the rest of us,” Polly spat back. 

Molly then reached for Polly’s hand,” It’s okay Pol. I’ll be alright. It’s just cleaning and watching over the children”, she then reached her other hand out for Ada,” Just think, I’ll be able to help deliver the baby. Just like we did when Finn was born.” 

Polly smiles at the memory. Her sister had been having a hard time delivering the little boy, so she had Ada run across the lane for Molly’s mother. Molly had insisted on going with her leaving Jacob with Ada. That was the first time she had ever seen a baby be born. After, Molly had told John that’s what she wanted to do with when she was older. Have babies and deliver them. 

“I have something to look forward to, so I won’t be running away again,” Molly continued while smiling at the memory as well. She had looked over at John and their eyes met. He remembered that day too. It was the day he promised himself he was going to make that happen for you. But of course, as time went on, things changed.

“Okay, you both win. I won’t fight it,” Polly says raising her hands in defeat. 

Tommy then clears his throat,” Alright then, all in favor of Molly and Jacob coming to work for us raise your hand.” Everyone raised a hand except for John. 

He then kicked himself off the wall and walked back over toward Molly. “I know you better than anyone else in this room. Look me in the eyes and tell me you want this. I’ll raise my hand if you really want this,” he said, wrapping his hand lightly around her shoulders, making her look at him.

Molly reluctantly looked up at John, “I don’t just want this John, I need this. I need to do this to help my brother. He is the only reason I came back here.” 

And with that, Molly shook Johns hands off of her and backed away. She then noticed John raise his hand. 

Arthur then stood up and made his way over to Jacob,” Well, I guess this calls for a celebratory drink,” he then proceeded to pour everyone a drink,” Welcome to the Peaky Blinders kid”

And just like that, it was official. All the Shelbys agreed and it was set in stone. 

They all spent the rest of the night catching up and drinking. Molly couldn’t help but notice how quiet John was. She knew he wouldn’t be happy with the decision and what she had said. But he was going to have to deal with it. It was the truth. She came back for her brother.

Or at least that’s what she thought.
