Haven't posted a Picrew of the gworls in a hot minute because I got a new phone last month and I'm too lazy to dig through my Google drive to find the more recent ones I've made, BUT I just found one that lets you make a girl with a cat and I couldn't just not make Molly with Pretzel. She's absolutely the type of person to dress up for a photo shoot with her cat.

And once again, I remembered to copy the link so it's not lost to time

Propaganda
Eleanor Parker (Scaramouche, The Sound of Music)— Eulogized as a ravishing beauty whose looks were merely ornamental to her craft, feast your eyes on Eleanor Parker. Listen! I know you're thinking of the Baroness in Sound of Music and saying NO I won't protect the woman who tried to steal him from Maria but forget about that (like you personally wouldn't shoot your shot with Plummer)! The trailer for Scaramouche describes her character Lenore as "The glamourous queen of the nightlife of Paris. A flame-haired wildcat" and this is a woman who was able to pull off that role, and you get the vibe she was like that irl too. There's a story about her changing hair colors that never fails to make me laugh. Take note of her stunning eyes! Her amazing legs! And to see her in motion is to make note of the aura about her, she has an amazing presence. Fall in love with Eleanor Parker today, and make your vote count!
Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady, Sabrina, Roman Holiday)—Growing up, Audrey Hepburn desperately wanting to be a professional ballerina, but she was starved during WWII and couldn't pursue her dream due to the effects of malnourishment. After she was cast in Roman Holiday, she skyrocketed to fame, and appeared in classics like My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's. She's gorgeous, and mixes humor and class in all of her performances. After the majority of her acting career came to close, she became a UNICEF ambassador.
This is round 3 of the tournament. (yes I know it says round 2 in the poll. sometimes I post these when I’m sleepy.) All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Eleanor Parker:
Tumblr media
“When I’m spotted somewhere, it means that my characterizations haven’t covered up Eleanor Parker the person. I prefer it the other way around.” So shy she was actively nervous about winning awards in person, her personal life remains mostly behind the scenes. But on screen? she was a force majeure. It's a shame the role most people remember her in is the Baroness in The Sound of Music, but then again, it did make Christopher Plummer reminisce upon her passing “I was sure she was enchanted and would live forever.”
Tumblr media
Listen we all know Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews had insane chemistry but the Baroness deserves some love too! She has such a glamorous presence but not in a hard way
Tumblr media
She will be known as the fabulous baroness in TSOM, but she was so much more than that. Just as comfortable in westerns or melodrama, the scheming other woman, and the beauty that wins the heart of every man in town.
Tumblr media
Audrey Hepburn propaganda:
Tumblr media
"She may be a wispy, thin little thing, but when you see that girl, you know you're really in the presence of something. In that league there's only ever been Garbo, and the other Hepburn, and maybe Bergman. It's a rare quality, but boy, do you know when you've found it." - Billy Wilder
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raised money for the resistance in nazi occupied Hungary. Became a humanitarian after retiring. Two very sexy things to do!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
where to begin......... i wont her so bad. i literally dont know what to say.
My dude. The big doe eyes, the cheekbones, the voice. The flawless way she carried herself. She was never in a movie where she wasn't drop dead gorgeous. Oh, also the fact she raised funds against the Nazis doing BALLET and she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her humanitarian work.
Tumblr media
"It’s as if she dropped out of the sky into the ’50s, half wood-nymph, half princess, and then disappeared in her golden coach, wearing her glass slippers and leaving no footprints." - Molly Haskell
"All I want for Christmas is to make another movie with Audrey Hepburn." - Cary Grant
Tumblr media

I know people nowadays are probably sick of seeing her with all the beauty and fashion merch around that depicts her and/or Marilyn Monroe but she is considered a classic Hollywood beauty for a reason. Ironically in her day she was more of the alternative beauty when compared to many of her contemporaries. She always came off with such elegance and grace, and she was so charming. Apparently she was a delight to work with considering how many of her co-stars had wonderful things to say about her. Outside of her beauty and acting ability she was immensely kind. She helped raise funds for the Dutch resistance during WWII by putting on underground dance performances as well as volunteering at hospitals and other small things to help the resistance. During her Hollywood career and later years she worked with UNICEF a lot. Just an all around beautiful person both inside and out.
youtube
No one could wear clothes in this era like she could. She was every major designer's favorite star and as such her films are time capsules of high fashion at the time. But beyond that, she had such an elegance in her screen presence that belied a broad range of ability. From a naive princess, to a confused widow, to a loving and mischievous daughter, she could play it all.
Tumblr media
Look at that woman's neck. Don't you want to bite it?

This list includes a list of 5 anthologies coming out between now, and the end of the year! I am based in the UK and therefore all dates and relevant links I have found reflect this!
In These Hallowed Halls: A Dark Academia Anthology
Published by Titian Books on September 12th
Look I have not really enjoyed any dark academia I have read, nor have read from any of these authors so this is a risky choice. However, this is the season for dark academia and I am intrigued. This collection of 12 stories includes well known authors of the genre (sub genre?) Olivie Blake & M.L. Rio as well as David Bell, Susie Yang, Layne Fargo, J.T. Ellison, James Tate Hill, Kelly Andrew, Phoebe Qynne, Kate Weinberg, Helen Grant & Tori Bovalino.
Goodreads // Storygraph // Amazon //
Peach Pit
Published by Dzanc Books on September 12th
A collection of 16 stories about and following unlikeable, unhinged and monstrous women. Which basically sums up some of my favourite types of short story collections. With story description makes it sound similar to other collections such as Out There with a bit of Cursed Bunny. Edited by Molly Llewllyn and Kristel Buckly featuring stories from; Lauren Groff, Deesha Philyaw, K-Ming Chang, Megan Giddings, Sarah Rose Etter, Chaya Bhuvaneswar, Alicia Elliott, Chana Porter, Alice Ash, Maisy Card, Vanessa Chan, Chantal V. Johnson, Amada Leduc, Alison Rumfitt, Yah Yah Scholfield & Aliya Whitely.
Goodreads // Storygraph // Amazon //
Mermaids Never Drown
Published by Titian Press (UK) / Feiwel & Friends (US) on September 26th
From the team behind Vampires Never Get Old (which you may know about from the Story ‘First Kill’ which became a Netflix show) comes a second Young Adult collection exploring mermaids. Edited again by Zoraida Córdova and Natalie C. Parker and featuring many well known and beloved YA authors such as Darcie Little Badger, Kalynn Bayron, Preeti Chhibber, Rebecca Coffindaffer, Julie C. Dao, Maggie Tokuda-Hall, Adriana Herrera, June Hur, Katherine Locke, Kerri Maniscalco, Julie Murphy, Gretchen Schreiber, and Julian Winters. I am particularly excited to see Darcie Little Badger who I have loved both their long work (Elatose) and their short fiction (in Love Beyond Body Space and Time) and also I am intrigued by June Hur who I have only read Historical mystery work from so this will be a different spin.
Goodreads // Storygraph // Amazon //
Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror
Published by Random House on October 3rd
An anthology I surprisingly only found out about when putting together this list. Out There Screaming is a collection of stories edited by writer and director Jordan Peele. It is an anthology of ‘all-new stories of Black horror, exploring not only the terrors of the supernatural but the chilling reality of injustice that haunts our nation. Alongside an introduction from Jordan Peele it also features stories by Erin E. Adams, Violet Allen, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Maurice Broaddus, Chesya Burke, P. Djèlí Clark, Ezra Claytan Daniels, Tananarive Due, Nalo Hopkinson, N.K. Jemisin, Justin C. Key, L.D. Lewis, Nnedi Okorafor, Tochi Onyebuchi, Rebecca Roanhorse, Nicole D. Sconiers, Rion Amilcar Scott, Terence Taylor, and Cadwell Turnbull.
Goodreads // Storygraph // Amazon // Libro.fm //
The Book of Witches
Published by HarperVoyager on August 1st (US) and October 26th (UK)
Edited by Jonathan Strahan the editor from The Book of Dragons and featuring art from artist Alyssa Winans throughout This is large collection focusing around witches featuring 29 stories and poems from well known contemporary SFF authors; Linda Addison, C.L. Clark, P Djeli Clark, Indrapramit Das, Amal El Mohtar, Andrea Hairston, Millie Ho, Saad Hossain, Kathleen Jennings, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Cassandra Khaw, Fonda Lee, Darcie Little Badger, Ken Liu, Usman T. Malik, Maureen F. McHugh, Premee Mohamed, Garth Nix, Tobi Ogundiran, Tochi Onyebuchi, Miyuki Jane Pinckard, Kelly Robson, Angela Slatter, Andrea Stewart, Emily Teng, Sheree Renée Thomas, Tade Thompson, and E. Lily Yu. This is a must pick up for me for two reasons, I enjoyed reading The Book of Dragons last year, and found some new favourite short stories, and two it includes some of my favourite authors. So even if I only enjoy their stories this would be a win for me!

C I replied to here: https://dragonnan.tumblr.com/post/186299573355/c-f-v-y-for-the-ask-meme
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic(reading or writing)? Oh probably too many lol! Reading guilt - I like Sherlolly romance (Sherlock and Molly Hooper) yet I’m not typically a romance person but those stories I love!! - Guilty writing.... pretty sure I have no shame in that regard lol!
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand? I don’t actually care at all for the majority of au tropes.  That isn’t to say they aren’t really well written - I have a ton of respect for the amount of world building that can be involved.  But when I read fic I’m wanting to see the characters as I know them - not some altered variation.  Where I straight up hate a trope?  Any time a beloved character is twisted into the villain - like making May Parker abusive or Tony Stark a pedophile or shit like that.
X: A character you enjoy making suffer.  Oh my gosh, so many!  Tony Stark, Stephen Strange, Shawn Spencer, Sherlock Holmes, Molly Hooper and Juliet O’Hara (the rare female exceptions), there are certainly others but those listed are the current ones I abuse.

The 2017 Black Hills Film Festival
Every year I promise myself that I’m going to go to the Black Hills Film Festival. I haven’t bought my ticket yet but this year I’m really hoping to go! Since 2010 Hill City, South Dakota has hosted the annual Black Hills Film Festival. This event brings together filmmakers and the public and offers not only screenings of short and long independent films, but also seminars and workshops with Industry Experts. This is a true celebration of independent cinema and the maverick storytellers who work magic at bringing their stories to film and sharing them with the public. Last year the Black Hills Film Festival awarded their People’s Choice Award to the film “Lakota Girls”, produced and directed by Russell and Molli Cameron of Chicago. The film was an homage to Molli’s great-grandmother, a South Dakota schoolteacher who married a Native American man. The 2017 Black Hills Film Festival will be held April 26th through 29th. Most films will be screened in Hill City (although some will be seen in Rapid City). The films to be screened at the 2017 Festival include:

The Black Hills Film Festival strives to bring the highest quality short, full-length and documentary films to our region and to bring recognition to independent film as an art form. The Festival also provides opportunities for filmmakers to further their education. The Festival takes place in Hill City, taking over the small mountain town each springtime since 2010. There are parties, receptions, and seminars throughout the week’s events, along with film screenings and voting. Past workshops have been conducted by Academy Award-winning filmmakers, costumers and make-up artists from around the world as well as film producers and financiers who show the how-tos of getting independent films made. Additional courses show burgeoning auteurs how to address film techniques and casting choices. These workshops are free to the attending filmmakers, the true stars of the festival. Award winners take home custom bronze trophies, cash prizes and contact info for many new supporters of their work. Special attention is given to South Dakota films and projects focused on Native American themes. Film Producer Sean believes that the classes help film artists learn and share their skills. “I think making films today is cheaper than it’s ever been. The barrier to entry is lower than it’s ever been, and ways to get it out there are easier than it’s ever been, right, so I see a lot of people who are getting ready to make movies, but when we talk about actually writing the screenplay, they’re surprised to learn a lot of stuff that could trip them up if they don’t figure it out before they start shooting, and that’s what we’re going to talk about today. This is an event for everyone to enjoy, including the public. Freelance Writer, Kristin Donnan said,
“You can actually walk up to that same filmmaker, who you can’t get a ticket to see, and have a conversation, shake hands, talk, learn about what they’re doing, so anybody who likes film, any level of interest or expertise you’re welcome here and you’ll have a great time.”
This year many are looking forward to viewing the documentary “Floating Horses: The Life of Casey Tibbs” about rodeo legend Casey Tibbs. This will be the world premiere of the film, produced by South Dakota native Justin Koehler. Following the Black Hills Film Festival, Koehler plans to host a private screening of the film in Pierre. Tibbs was originally from Fort Pierre. He won a record six professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association saddle bronc riding championships between 1949 and 1955 as well as two all-around cowboy championships and a bareback riding title. Casey Tibbs, known as “the Babe Ruth of rodeo” passed away in 1990 and the film includes rare film footage of the star. As a freelance writer and blogger with a love for independent film and storytelling, I’m hoping to be in attendance most of the week during the Black Hills Film Festival. If so, I plan to interview a variety of people from the film industry. Look for a follow-up blog after the event – or come join me in Hill City that weekend!

Sarah Jessica Parker 'Privately' Called and Texted Kim Cattrall After Brother's Death, Source Says
Sarah Jessica Parker is speaking out about the drama surrounding her and her Sex and the City co-star, Kim Cattrall.
In a new interview with People, the 52-year-old actress insists there's no feud between her and Cattrall. However, it's important to note that the interview was conducted less than 24 hours before Cattrall called her out via Instagram, saying she didn't "need" Parker's support following the death of her younger brother, Christopher.
When asked to talk about why Cattrall wasn't on board for SATC 3 (despite the fact that all the other leading ladies were down to film), Parker told the outlet, "I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening]."
"But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me," Parker continued, referencing Cattrall's claims that she had "never been friends" with her SATC co-stars. "We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other."
Parker, who portrayed Carrie Bradshaw in the romantic comedy series, added that she would never "want to mess" with that experience, or have another actress take on Cattrall's beloved role of Samantha Jones.
"I couldn't imagine anyone else playing that part," Parker, who previously joked about having Ellen DeGeneres or Stephen Colbert take on the role, explained. "So, there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won't, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege."
Over the weekend, Cattrall made it "very clear" that she doesn't see Parker as friend. "My Mom asked me today, 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'" she wrote on Instagram. "Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."
A source close to Parker told ET on Wednesday that the actress called and texted Cattrall privately when she heard about the tragic news. Parker also addressed Cattrall's loss while chatting with ET on the red carpet for the Paley Center for Media's An Evening With the Cast of Divorce in New York City earlier this month.
"If somebody in your life, whether you're in touch with them or not, [is] suffering for any reason, it's involuntary that you want to convey condolences or sadness or just let someone know you're thinking about them," she told us at the time.
