At last, some details!

(A while back on @srmthg we had a zine interest check, and it remains open for any additional suggestions/feedback about what you'd like the zine to be (you can also shoot this blog an ask) but I don't plan on doing a second interest check. If enough people feel this is a mistake, there's still time to do one, but as it stands I don't see the point. I will continue to accept feedback and take it into account moving forward!)

By the way, my name is @netbug009 and I'm your friendly head mod for this project! This will be my first time running a zine, but I've been helping run projects in this fandom for 18 years!

The Format

SRMTHG Zine (cooler name tbd) will be a free PDF zine scheduled to release on September 18th, 2024, AKA the 20th anniversary of the series' first episode!

I know a lot of folks (myself included) like to have nice, shiny, hard copies of zines, and I hope to get the zine onto a publishing on demand site such as Lulu to let people buy them at-print-cost if they'd like, but a free digital edition will be the first priority. Since this zine is a celebration of the anniversary of a relatively small fandom, I want as many people to be able to access and enjoy it as possible! Plus, this is my first time running a zine, so I think it's smart to keep it simple. This also lets us worry less about page counts - if a lot of cool people contribute cool stuff, a PDF can be a chonk as we want!

The Content

The zine will include both fanart and fan fiction (and maybe even a few QR codes to some other digital goodies like AMVs and fanmixes if there's enough contributor interest!)

Light shipping will be allowed, with a few exceptions - no adult x child and no monkey x human ships will be allowed. (This was THE overwhelming request in the interest check and is not open for debate.)

We're going for a general vibe and love the idea of getting copies into the hands of voice actors/staff, which should give you a rough idea of the type of content we're going for - if it's too creepy/fetishy to hand to Ciro at a convention, it's too creepy/fetishy for the book. (That said, Monkey Team is a very silly and weird show with a love for classic horror tropes so I hope people don't let that limit their imaginations too much if they wanna do something spoopy!)

NO AI WORK WILL BE USED OR ACCEPTED IN THE CREATION OF THIS ZINE. I hope that'd be a given but just to be 100% clear, no.

March 2024 - Contributor Applications Open!

April 22nd - Zine members selected and invited to Discord

May 1st - Zine members finalized

June 1st - Zine check-in 1

July 1st - Zine check-in 2

August 1st - Zine pieces due!

September 1st - Zine layout finalization due!

September 18th - ZINE RELEASED!

You might notice this is a pretty long timeline for a zine and we're starting pretty early; because this fandom is fairly small and this is a big occasion, I want to provide extra time so that as many people can hear about the project and participate as possible.

If you're looking for something to do until contributor apps open, SIGNAL BOOST, SIGNAL BOOST, SIGNAL BOOST! Reblog, post to Twitter, tell your friends, get the word out so this can be the biggest celebration it possibly can! If you make any graphics in your quest to help get the word out, PLEASE tag this blog so they can be shared!

Aaaand that's the basics! Again, feel free to send an ask with any additional questions. If you're considering applying in January, it's never too early to start sketching/considering ideas!

Hey. How are you?

I want to ask you that. But I have no way of reaching you. I have no means of communication with you. I can't ask how you are or see if you're okay. I can't celebrate your successes or mourn your failures from afar. And maybe I deserve it. But I feel I don't.

It's been about two years now. I don't know if I should count from August or November. November is when you officially abandoned me, but August is when you first admitted to cheating on me - secretly, of course. Honestly, Ollie, I used to be a mod on that server. All I had to do was ask and I was able to go back and read and delete all of your confessions. Star and I have been friends for years, now. Geez...Years. it's weird to say. Being locked up for ten years does shit to you, huh?

I can't help but wonder "why". Why did you abandon me? Why did you stalk me? Why did you abuse me? Why did you even agree to anything in the first place?

I remember the day we met, mostly. You and Birdy were a thing. I....Honestly forgot most of Birdy. I know he was catty and mean. I know he hated me. I know he abused you. And I know it's him I should thank for introducing us. I remember you mentioning we'd met before, too...

And I remember Ciro. It's funny what time does, you know? The first person I'd ever fallen so hard for is now a distant, bittersweet memory. You know what they say, I guess; hindsight is 20/20.

What they don't mention is how painful it is, and how often times, the other person isn't the only one in the wrong. I fully admit that in the past? I was an awful, horrible, abusive person; but not to you. I changed for you, because I loved you so, so dearly. And I still do. I'm sure I always will. Just like I still love Ciro, Ryan and Emmett. Love - actual love - never truly goes away.

And that's why I said what I said and acted how I acted. I want you to stay away. You lied to people about me, abused me, gaslit me, made me think I was a monster when I was actively changing, getting help, and being properly diagnosed. And yeah - I still fuck up pretty often. I'm human. And I'm a human that's still learning what do many would have learned in their developmental years; friendship, family, love, happiness, self love, aspirations and goals, support....All these mundane but wonderful things I missed out on my entire life and for those long, long ten years.

I remember when mom moved out. I thought, "It's over? Just like that?" It didn't feel real and I felt so...pit off by it? I don't know the actual words. But I remember how good it felt to be able to express my emotions openly - to be able to feel sad and happy and cry and laugh and listen to music and do art projects and dress how I wanted and come and go as I liked. I was so, so happy and I still am so very happy and grateful to be free.

But so much was done in those years - and in half of that? You were there. I thought when I moved out that finally we could fully be together. All my dreams were coming to fruition. But then...You abandoned me. Not a word of unhappiness was spoken. You just left. Blocked me. Avoided me. Wouldn't even be in the same room as me. And I was utterly powerless again.

I couldn't take it. I sent all those message because I knew, if you came back? I'd take you back with open arms. My heart was a bird and you were it's nest. How can a bird rest when it has no home...?

I figured...Since that was the case, I'd make you hate me. You wouldn't come back, and my planned suicide that night wouldn't bug you.

Jayden may have been an ass, but, he did one thing right. He took me to the ER. Called an Uber. They locked me in that psych ward for a week.

But I'm glad they did. Sounds stupid, right? Especially with how scared I was of psych wards.

But I learned so much about myself, my illness, and the people there gave me wisdom that non atypical people wouldn't give. They may be there for a reason, but so was I.

I guess I'm writing this because, recently, I've come to understand and experience many things. So many things about the world...

Well. I guess the first thing is, I haven't been suicidal since that year. Don't get me wrong - I'm still depressed and lonely often, but definitely not to the degree I was before.

My chosen family is the best family I could ever ask for. My Domme, my step parents, my little brother, my new kitten Neptune...and of course, everyone else I've met.

For someone with BPD, I'm considered hard to read and level headed. My Momma once called me a walking, talking dichotomy and honestly? She's right. It's kind of amusing. But it makes me feel special. It means I survived. Unfortunately, that's not always a good thing either. Being stoic and blank faced all the time seems to stem from the residual trauma of those ten years. But are you really surprised? Cause I'm not.

I've gotten better at vocalizing how I feel. It still takes me a bit and I fumble over words, but, expressing myself vocally has become much easier.

I don't want to get married. I don't want to have kids or a huge, white picket fence family. I'm a polyamorous, grey-ace, low maintenance introvert who prefers cats and pain over the American dream and? I'm okay with that - happy about it, even. It's an odd relief knowing I don't have to live up to those standards that were forced on me for so long.

Lastly....You can feel more than one emotion. About anything. It's okay to. And I'm so grateful for the happy moments we shared and the sweet memories we made. I'm so happy for the times where you did egg me on in my growth. But with that said....I'm also still sad. Still mourning. I wish you had told me. I wish you wouldn't lie to people. I wish I knew all the whys and hows.

But with that....I don't really have much more to say. I guess we both know you could never really replace me just as I can never really replace you. But we shouldn't have to, and shouldn't try to. Everyone is an individual in their own rights. Everyone is different.

I know there's not a chance in frozen hell you'll see this - that any of you will. Malo, Emmett, Karmalits, Angel, Adarius, Nassir, Ciro, Ryan...Thank you for helping me grow. Thank you for loving that broken, venemous child that was locked up and forgotten about. I love all of you dearly and always will. I'm sorry I didn't understand and that I hurt you.

I hope you're proud of who I am and who I'll become

Koronavirüs salgınının kontrol altına alınmasının ardından Türkiye’de normalleşme süreci başladı. Yeni düzenlemeler hayata geçirilirken koronavirüs farkındalığı için yeni bir koleksiyon hazırlandı. Tasarımların üzerinde ‘Evde Kal’, ‘Antivirus’, ‘Ellerini Yıka, ‘Sosyal Mesafe Kraliçesi’, ‘Yüzüne Dokunma’, ‘Sosyal Mesafe ile Kişisel Karantina’ gibi mesajlar yer aldı. Anti bakteriyel ürünler, toz tutmayan, koku yapmayan, deforme olmayan anti bakteriyel kumaşlardan üretildi. Ayrıca koleksiyonda hijyenik tulum, siperlik ve anti bakteriyel maske tasarımları da bulunuyor.

Toplum sağlığını korumak adına mart ayında getirilen sınırlamalar, geçtiğimiz günlerde alınan Bakanlar Kurulu kararı ile belli kurallar çerçevesinde gevşetilmeye başlandı. Bu süreçte ara verdikleri mağaza hizmetlerini kontrollü ve kademeli olarak tekrar başlattıklarını dile getiren DeFacto CEO’su İhsan Ateş, düzenlediği basın toplantısında yaşananları, aldıkları önlemleri ve yeni süreci değerlendirdi.

Ateş, “Salgınla mücadelede ‘Evde kal’ dönemini başarıyla tamamladık. Sağlığımızı koruma adına yine kurallara sıkı sıkıya uyacağımız yeni bir süreç, ‘Güvende kal’ dönemi başlıyor. Bu döneme için özel bir koleksiyon hazırladık” dedi.

Sağlık personeline Beyaz Destek projemiz ile 10 bin ürün seti gönderdik. ‘Biz Bize Yeteriz Türkiyem’ kampanyasına 2 milyon anti bakteriyel maske bağışlayarak katıldık” dedi.

Normalleşme adımlarının atıldığını ancak henüz salgının bitmediğini hatırlatan Ateş, mağazalarda, insanların güven içinde hizmet alabileceği düzenlemeleri hayata geçirdiklerini belirtti.

Koleksiyonumuzun adına da bugünlerin ruhuna uygun olarak ‘Güvende Kal’ dedik. Güvende Kal koleksiyonumuzu 3 ana başlıkta topladık. İlk olarak, uymamız gereken kuralları hatırlatmak için mesajlarımız eğlenceli hale getiren Türkçe ve İngilizce tasarımlara yer verdik. Mağazaları yüksek hijyen kuralları ile açtıklarını aktaran Ateş, “Türkiye’de toplamda 250 mağazamız; yurt dışında ise Mısır, Irak, Arnavutluk ve Belarus’ta 50 mağazamız açık. “Mağazalarımıza girişte ateş ölçümü yapıyoruz, maske kullanımını sağlıyoruz. Maskesi olmadan gelene maske temin ediyoruz. Müşterisi kapasitesini sosyal mesafe kurallarına uygun hale getirdik. Çalışanlarımızın tamamına siperlik ve maske temin ettik. Mağazalarımıza hava sirkülasyonu için dezenfektasyon teknolojisi sağlandık. Ürün hijyeni için nano sprey uygulamaları başlattık. Deneme kabinlerinde anlık hijyen işlemi yapıyoruz. Bu yeni dönem yani güvende alışveriş için şu ana kadar 10 milyon liralık yatırım yaptık. Yıl sonuna kadar yapılan harcamaların 15 milyon lirayı geçeceğini tahmin ediyoruz” ifadelerini kullandı.

“BÜYÜME HEDEFİMİZİ REVİZE EDECEĞİZ”

Son üç yılda her yıl için ortalama 30’un üzerinde bir büyüme performansı sergilediklerini belirten İhsan Ateş, “Bu yıl için de benzer bir büyüme öngörümüz vardı. Ancak pandemi süreci nedeniyle bu yıl için belirlediğimiz hedeflerimizi revize etmemiz gerekiyor. 2020 yılında geçen yıl ile aynı orda bir büyümeyi öngörüyoruz” dedi.

“AVM’LERDEKİ MAĞAZALAR YÜZDE 5 EKSİK CİRO YAPTI”

Geçen hafta sadece bazı cadde mağazalarını açtıklarını belirten Ateş, “Bir hafta içinde ise geçen sene aynı dönemde elde edilen cironun yüzde 75’i elde edildi. Dün itibari ile de cadde mağazaları geçen sene elde edilen ciroyu yakaladı. Dün de üstü açık AVM’ler açıldı, bu AVM’lerdeki mağazalarımız, geçen yıl aynı dönemde ede edilen cirodan yüzde 5 eksik ciro yaptı” ifadelerini kullandı.

MÜŞTERİ TRAFİĞİ DÜŞTÜ AMA SEPETTEKİ ÜRÜN ARTTI

Mağazaların açılmasıyla iyi bir başlangıç yaptıklarını vurgulayan İhsan Ateş, “Müşteri sayısı, bir başka ifadeyle trafik düştü ama sepetteki ürün sayısı arttı. Yüzde 50 oranında müşteri sayısı azaldı ama gelen müşteri ürün satın alıyor. Gezmeye değil, ihtiyacını almaya geliyor. Hatta önceden bir müşteri 3 parça ürün alıyorsa şimdi 4-5 parça ürün alıyor. Sonuçlardan memnunum ve perakendeciler açısından iyi bir başlangıç oldu. Alınan ürünler de ise daha rahat olanlar tercih ediliyor, moda rahatlık olacak” dedi.

MAĞAZA KAPATMIYORUZ, ÜRÜNLERDE FİYAT ARTIŞI YOK, İŞTEN ÇIKARMA YAPMADIK

Türkiye genelindeki 14 bin çalışanın tüm haklarını ödediklerini aktaran Ateş, “İşten çıkarma yapmadık, ücretler konusunda da kesintiye gitmedik. 14 bin çalışanımızın tüm haklarını ödedik. Sonuç olarak mağaza kapatma planımız yok. Şu ana kadar 3 farklı senaryo çalıştık ve üçünde de işten çıkarma planı yok. Kötü senaryoya göre eğer işler düşerse part-time çalışma saatlerinde değişiklik yapabiliriz. Ürünlerde fiyat artış yapmadık. Salgın öncesiyle aynı ve kışın da yapmayacağız. Önümüzdeki süreçte müşterilerde fiyat hassasiyetinin yükseleceğini gözlemliyoruz” diye konuştu.

I am proud of myself, I not only finished my fic entry for the TMNT Darkest Nights fanbook on DeviantArt in like a few days, I did not go over the word limit, plus I cut it off at a good cliffhanger moment and there is ton of room to expand into either its own full story or a chapter of “The Brightest Fire”. I’m usually awful at short stories that need to end sooner than I want. They always want to grow and be more, that’s how one novella grew into my second Novel In Progress, featuring a disabled autistic half-Fae. It’s hard to contain and confine a story with so much background. I think that’s why after I wrote the “Mikey The Lifegiver” short fic, I wound up turning it into a series (it’s at twelve fics and I think it’s done, unless this one I’m working on wants to be thirteen). I didn’t expect to write more than the two Donnie/Mikey fics that expanded on it, but then I realized how much I needed a Leo/Mikey story and a Raph/Mikey story, and then I wound up writing the “end” story, the “final” as an overall thing, using Spirit as an additional element, and the entire thing turned into an AU all on its own. I still read the first fic to myself when I have depression episodes. Hell, I still get messages via FF, AO3, and DA from fellow neurodivergent people who tell me that reading “Mikey The Lifegiver” both made them cry and helped them soothe their own depression episodes a little. That means more to me than any compliment. I mean, I did write it to help my own mental health.

Once the fanbook is officially published I can later post my fanfic story on AO3 and FF and DA (I actually have a profile, lol). The story will have a drawing by the one and only @sampsonknighttmnt and it’ll be specific to the storyline, which means this Mikey is psychic and epileptic, because it’s me, you know me. And even the drawing will feature that in a nifty way. Dude, I need another citrine pendant myself. Again, huge thanks to SampsonKnight for their help and encouragement and advice in our chats, and thanks to @hummerhouse just for being an inspiration whether they know it or not and also being the expert font of knowledge for the 2003 TMNT cartoon. I keep wanting to Ask all sorts of questions to them and the @tmnt-discourse blog but I worry I’d be a nuisance and an imposition. So many questions though. PS, the discourse blog is an awesome blog. I often wonder which mods are the biggest Mikey fans. Because 2003 Mikey’s character has a lot to unpack as far as discourse goes.

I forget where I was going with this. Oh! Oh! I AM writing a new chapter/oneshot for “CFR: Mind Games” based on a dream. Leo comes out as gray-asexual same as April, Splinter says that before Don got a crush on April he thought they were all asexual, Casey admits he might be bi, April and Casey admit they’re attracted to each other, Gaia gets angry and I get to explore the poly relationship she has with Mike and Don a little more, Raph flirts openly with Casey and pines for Y’Gthgba, April and Donnie really are best friends and April continues to ask curious details about Don and Gaia’s sex life with Mikey because she’s fascinated by sex because she can’t feel desire; also I might follow the end of Season Four after all, depending on whether or not I want to keep Splinter and also on reader feedback. Sometimes I get shy about asking for feedback, because I don’t have a lot of CFR readers - or do I? They’re all on Fanfiction.net and I have no idea how many of them know I’m on Tumblr. I should add it to my profile. Also, I am working on Chapter Two of “Brightest Fire”. People were asking about that. It’s going to take some emotional labor since the characters will be dealing with some severe psychological fucking up and the fallout of stuff that was done in the past. I’m going to be calling out Splinter on a few things. The 2003 characters were made for intense psychological discourse, I think. Plus, I never had siblings so I have no idea if constant insults and light bullying among family is considered normal. I feel like the AU “The Sunshine Child” might be done, unless I feel inspired by the series finale or something. Now I see why Ciro set it fifty years in the future. We fans are going to go wild with fics and art.
