if i write all the wanky stuff in the tags that means i am innocent if any wank ensues thereafter right?
#I didn't think i was supposed to ACTUALLY blame Loki for Frigga's death? like it obviously wasn't his fault in any deliberate way#and Mobius is a cop trying to break Loki enough to get him to help the cops to catch another Loki (oon inceptiony)#yeah Mobius SAYS it but i don't think Mobius speaks with 100% authority and accuracy u kno?#it's a deliberate cruelty to point out that Unintended Consequences happened there and i mean... it does work doesn't it?#that is the thing that breaks through to Loki and gets him to do Mobius's bidding from then on (mostly)#because Loki can of course justify all his DELIBERATE actions to himself - because he already did that at the time he did them#but 'u killed Frigga (sort of)' is a new Bad Thing and one he has no pre-prepared excuse for#basically Loki already knows all the tumblr meta that casts him as Right About Things so Mobius is never gonna win on those items alone#but then I also think Mobius was planning to just straight-up murder TVA!Loki when he'd done his part in catching The Bad Variant#and wouldn't be shocked if there were others before him who also got Mobius'd out of existence for failing or refusing to play along#how many times has Mobius done this? is there more than 'reading files' behind how easily he can see through Loki's attempted lies?#OH THAT GOT A BIT DARK DIDNT IT OH NO#(i enjoy a bit of lokius but i do wonder about the AU where they catch Sylvie and now Mobius has a spare Loki who is of no further use)#BUT I DIGRESS#yeah i didn't think i was supposed to ACTUALLY think Frigga dying can be fairly blamed on Loki#but Mobius knows that this is something Loki can't justify and it'll eat away at him and make him question the stuff he CAN justify#loki series

FOR ALL TIME, ALWAYS – Loki x female reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Loki escapes the TVA for a moment. Desperate and brokenhearted, he looks for you, his wife, in the Sacred Timeline. Even if you saw him die ten years ago.
Word count: 3.9k.
Warnings: LOTS of angst, some fluff, spoilers of Loki series in general. Language. Maybe I'm not getting how the branches work oops. This is right after the end of 2x02 and before 2x03. My English is also a warning, just in case.
Notes: while looking on the tags I checked a post of someone asking for a TVA Loki fic where he finds the reader but her Loki died in IW (not canon in my head btw). So I wrote it because is such a great idea, but I can't find the original post... ;-; anyway hope you like this!

It's harder to stay...
Wasn't this situation hard enough? Sylvie was right. She had a point. But Loki wanted to do the right thing. Maybe he would find a chance... Again, right? Probably he would make the proper decisions this time.
The TVA was already fucked up, and with it, the thousands of timelines and lives in danger within them. Sometimes, it looked like it didn't matter. In the end, they were trying to fix something that was already broken.
Loki let out a deep breath he didn't realise was holding and walked to talk directly to his partner, Mobius.
"I need a favor," Loki mumbled, so the grey-haired man would be the only person to hear his voice.
Mobius met his eyes. He knew that gaze, it meant he was up to something. "What kind of favor?"
The god motioned Mobius to step away from the newly acknowledged variants and far away from what B-15 was witnessing. The branches were pruned from the whole existence; thousands and millions of lifes lost to the void in just the blink of an eye. Loki knew he had to do something before it got worst. Something for himself.
"I need to go the Sacred Timeline," Loki announced.
"Are you nuts?" Mobius scolded, in the same low voice tone Loki had used.
"Is just- listen, it's something I have to do. I really need to go back there. Need to see someone, make sure everything is okay," Loki insisted.
During all the times Loki showed he was desperate, Mobius was sure this was the peak of all of them. He wasn't explaning more than necessary, he looked serious, and his voice was crisp. Loki knew what he wanted at that moment. Mobius sighed, his hands finding the pockets of his pants, unsure of Loki's request.
"So it's personal..."
"A little, yeah," Loki nodded.
"Promise it'll be quick," Mobius said, taking off the TemPad from his pocket and his hand stopped in the air before the object could lay in the god's grip. "Don't make me regret this."
"I won't."
2029, Sacred Timeline
When Loki arrived to his destination, the nerves got the best from him. New York looked no different from the last time he was there. Shifting his usual clothes he wore at the TVA, he chose a plain suit to go undercover, or at least decided he would try to, considering he was a criminal once in Midgard.
But as he walked through the halls of the familiar building he met decades ago, he didn't really care. He longed for something else. Better say, someone. And it was you.
You, who met him in the past right after Thor's banishment, and even helped him to find the Teseract, only to give up to SHIELD and those idiots that people called 'The Avengers'. Of course his heart hurted for a long time, but Loki tried to deny the feelings blooming inside and instead, he just decided to walk away from you, even if that meant hurting you. It was the best.
At least that was what he believed until he checked further his file; the file that Mobius had prepared for him. His life. Even after what he did to your people and planet, you still held no grudges. And Thor was good enough to seek for yours and the sorcerer's, Stephen Strange, help once Hela appeared in their lives.
Loki would never forget the loving look in your beautiful eyes when you saw him again, after years of parting ways. He really paid attention to you while watching his file, and he found there was only love, protection, and care in you. All for him. Someone who didn't deserve it, he thought.
He felt grateful at least he had the pleasure to enjoy happiness for a moment. Even if that meant Asgard was destroyed. Loki already lost his mother, his father, and he almost lost his brother. He couldn't stand losing you either. The simple idea of living without you - even if he didn't know you further than your Loki did - was unbearable pain.
So while in the ship on the way to Midgard with the asgardians and survivors of the Ragnarok, you held a cozy, small wedding when he asked you to marry him. This was one of the parts Loki would replay again and again from his file, with disbelief that he was actually happy and joyful, enjoying a good time with you, his brother, and all the asgardians who survived. Loki felt full of hope after your wedding, thinking fate had better things to come with you as an oficial part of his life.
Unfortunately, it didn't last long, thanks to the Mad Titan. As his steps got near your door, the memory of his brother and your figure mourning on his lifeless body appeared on his mind. It was an image he couldn't erase that easily. Probably, he would never forget that was his original destiny all the way. That was meant to be. And for now, he could not change it.
Loki stopped outside your apartment. He took a deep breath and raised his shaking hand to reach the doorbell. He waited for a moment, not knowing if seconds or minutes went by, it felt eternal. Until the door opened and he saw you.
The bright smile you had on your lips faded away. Your eyes flooded with tears, your forehead was furrowed, and still, Loki thought you were the most beautiful creature in all the Nine Realms.
"Hi..." Loki barely whispered, his eyes were glossy and a single tear also ran down his pale cheek.
You were clearly in shock. You wanted to get closer and finally touch him, to feel him physically. But even if you wanted to move to take his hand to confirm it wasn't a trick of your ruined mind, your body was stiff and your feet were glued to the ground.
"Is this an illusion?" you trembled.
All Loki could do was shaking his head, before muttering. "No..."
"Loki, I saw you die..."
Tears ran down your face, denying to yourself that this was real. That this was really happening to you. And your mind started to wonder all the possible scenarios and reasons on why him, the god of mischief, the only person you loved dearly with all your mind, body and soul, was standing right in front of your door even if he was gone for you... Long gone now. And that couldn't be undone.
"I know you did, my love."
You tried to smile, even a little bit, as he pronounced those words so dearly. Loki came closer to your figure, carefully placing a trembling hand on your cheek, feeling the tears flowing on your skin. You leaned into his touch, with a simpering smile. Such was the effect you had on him, that a silly smile he also had on his lips.
And you realized Loki was so real... His touch, his heat, his smile, his scent, the way he would hold you... Everything about him was exactly as you remembered. You felt his lips brushing softly against yours, gentle and hesitant, and instantly, you melted into a slow kiss, sure knowing that Loki would taste the salt of your tears running down your face. Leaning in closer as the space between would allow you, you savoured each second your breaths allowed, longing to remain right there for eternity. For all time. Always.
"But now I am here... and I can explain," he whispered once you separated your lips from his in the sweetest way.
You let out a soft chuckle. "Mind to enlighten me, oh, god of mischief?"
Finally you guided him inside your apartment. That old apartment Loki saw his other self visiting a couple of times before you were something. It still had your vibe around it and he loved it. He felt like he was at home after a very long time. Once you closed the door, his arms wrapped around your figure, and you let yourself cry, pressing against his chest and with a tight grip of your hands on his coat.
"You don't have any idea of how much I have missed you all these years," you sobbed and his heart shrank on his chest. "I kept wishing every night and every day to be me instead of you."
"My love," he said softly, separating a little and cupping your cheeks with his warm hands. His eyes were red now because of the tears he was holding back again. "Don't say that... It was supposed to happen."
"What?" you mumbled.
Your hands found his wrists and you pulled his palms away from your cheeks. However you kept the contact with him, you just needed to touch him, to feel he was in the flesh. He was alive right now, wasn't he?
"Look, I am not your Loki. I know what you did, what the Avengers did after Thanos-" his voice broke just a bit but he continued. "I know everything. I just couldn't resist knowing there was someone for me, out there in the Nine Realms, capable to love me for who I am," Loki explained as he watched your face. Was it disappointment? Confusion? He didn't know, but he had to tell you the truth.
Your voice came out as a barely audible whisper. "So... you are saying... you're another Loki? Another him?"
He nodded softly. "I am." Loki thought for a moment on how to explain everything, but he just went for what his heart felt it was right. "It's a little complicated. I did something that wasn't supposed to be, and perhaps will sound like I'm insane, but thanks to that I am kind of trapped in time. With an organization that is not what everyone thought it was, hence a multiverse was created. Sponsored by another me, by the way. You are in what is called the Sacred Timeline, where things flow as how they were supposed to since forever. And I just needed to see you after I found out you were the love of my life."
You took a moment to understand everything he said, wishing that his fate would have been different from what originally happened. Loki gave his best, even in the last worst moments, he was changing for good. For you. For Thor... It wasn't fair.
"Your death was supposed to be then?"
"Yes, it was."
"Oh, Loki," you cried. "You know what, I don't care what's happened. I'm just- I feel happy seeing you here... Please tell me everything you've been through. I want to hear your voice again, to know you're with me right now, to feel you near... I'm not crazy, am I?" you chuckled between tears and Loki curved his lips in a smile, wiping your tears from your face with his thumbs.
Loki granted your wish and explained everything, answering every question you had about the lies of the TVA; the files he found out were his whole life; about Sylvie, Mobius and his variants. He spilled all you wanted to hear, asking like a child, until you understood what was happening. You noticed he truly had changed, just like your Loki did when he reunited with Thor before the Ragnarok took over Asgard. It was a bittersweet feeling however, thinking how much they they seemed to each other. They were the same person after all, but this Loki didn't had the chance to continue his path as it was supposed to.
Taking his hand into yours, you leaned towards him and laid down your head on his shoulder while you both sat comfortable in the couch, just enjoying each others company. Your eyes were dry at this point after crying for what it felt were hours, but his voice helped to soothe you enough.
"I'm glad knowing you have someone like Mobius by your side," you said after a quiet moment. "He sounds like a very good friend," you looked at him, waiting for an answer. "Because that's what he is to you, right?"
"He is a great friend, I'm not alone if that is what is troubling you," Loki affirmed.
You let out a sigh. "That is totally a relief to me."
Loki chuckled softly, leaning to leave a kiss on your hair. "Now you've heard everything about me, would I hear something from you?"
"I'm just a mortal, Loki," you smiled. "Doing the normal shit, not the superhero stuff anymore. I am hating my pretty much normal office job every day; I feed the birds when I go outside at the park, also thinking about adopting a cat or a dog... Maybe a dog."
"Or you could do both."
"Yeah, I might. But my place isn't that big for pets. Sometimes I feel like I'm too alone, very much alone... I would love to have a big farm, or a cabin in the mountains with lots of plants, pets and animals to take care of." The idea did sound good for Loki. Hopefuly you could find peace that way. "Do you remember Pepper?" you said, straighting up on the couch to look at him. He nodded. "Well, after Tony died I still visit her and their daughter, Morgan. She is ten years old, could you believe it?" Loki noticed the sorrow and pain you still carried after all those years of losing your friends, your people... "And I've been missing you and mourning you for ten years as well."
"It's not your fault."
"I know, Loki."
"Do whatever is the best for you, my dear... I would have loved to be here with you now, as the Loki from the Sacred Timeline."
You smiled, but it was a sad smile. "Well, either way, you're here now. It's all that matters to me."
Once again, you shared a loving kiss and took his hand to walk to the kitchen, asking him to take a seat in your breakfast bar, glad he decided to search for you in one of your free days. Otherwise, you would have surely missed his visit. But he was looking for you. Probably Loki would have found you anywhere at this point.
You talked some more while you had some tea and ate some cookies that you saved for special days on the shelfs. The afternoon was pleasant, and this was your turn to speak. Loki, coat long gone, was catching up with you and he asked every single thing about your life now. He smiled more than ever, laughed more than you have ever seen, and it was certainly something you could get used to from now on. Knowing you never continued your life with another person made his heart ache though. However, Loki was no one to blame. He would have done the same thing. No other was like you, no one would have replaced you.
"It's my decision," you finally said, reading his face like an open book. "I have loved you, I love you now and I will love you forever."
He took your hand, lacing your fingers with his. "I know..."
"The day we married you gave me a ring. I always have it with me, today I'm not working, but I use this necklace with your ring," you searched for the necklace hiding inside your shirt and taking it off, you showed him the precious jewel hanging on a fine golden chain. The ring he recognized once was from his mother. "I want you to have it."
"No,I can't-"
"But this is what I want. I know I would have to forget, because you will make me forget about this. About you, coming here, risking everything just to see me. So please, take it."
Loki knew you had made a decision, but then if he left, taking your memories away about this day, what was left for you? He had nothing, and it was okay. He would still know he came to the Sacred Timeline; that he kissed you, that you shared a moment together, that you still loved him. But you will have none of that. And you, as human as you were, would die without the memories and without the ring. You would have nothing and he was sure couldn't bear it.
"Perhaps I can have something else to remember you, I want you to keep this ring as a promise," he closed your hand around the necklace. "My promise that I still love you and I will do it. Forever."
And you sighed, taking the necklace back with a smile. Always so stubborn. "Give me a moment."
Loki saw you leave the kitchen for some minutes. While he was alone, he noticed the sunset through the windows, as it was almost ending to welcome the dark sky around the city. He knew he had to go soon. As much as he didn't want to and the simple thought of runing away was starting to hurt him deep inside.
When you arrived, you stood by his seat on the breakfast bar, putting a small photograph, perfect for a passport, on the surface. It was all in black and white, and you looked what you thought it was nice. Loki took it between his hands, lovingly and with a proud smile on his face.
"I used that when I was taking my Master's degree. Looks pretty decent," you joked.
Loki laughed, tears right at the corner of his eyes. "It's more than that. It's perfect."
His smile faded, knowing this meant he had to leave you again. Loki wasn't supposed to have a happy ending, was he? How he wished to stay there by your side.
You kissed his cheek as a sort of goodbye and comfort at the same time, noticing the sudden change on his face and whispered softly. "So you don't search for me on those files."
"Thank you, love."
Loki got on his feet to put his coat on, like some sort of mental preparation before leaving your apartment and the Sacred Timeline. He saved your photograph on his pocket securely along with Mobius' TemPad, pretending to be strong and swallowing all the pain he was feeling right at that moment. You took his hand, lacing your fingers together one last time and walked until you stood there, in the middle of your living room. He looked at you with loving eyes, trying to save your face and your figure before returning to where he was supposed to be now. And it seemed like time had stopped, as everything Loki could see and feel was you and only you.
"I guess is time now," you began, interrupting his mind.
"I guess it is," Loki nodded, expecting an answer from you. Anything. But it never came. You were also trying to save the moment as much as you could.
So he cupped your cheeks, feeling for the last time your warm, soft skin against his palms. He didn't want to talk, because if he would have said something, it meant you were really saying goodbye forever. What Loki didn't know is that you felt the same thing.
Was there something good to say to your lover, whose destiny was just to bring the best from other people with his cruelty and chaos? To the man who had learn to make things better and, in the end, died trying to protect his people and his wife? Was there anything out there that would bring the god of mischief the happiness and love you always knew he deserved? With these branches and multiverse thing, you hoped deep in your heart there was a universe where he found what he longed for so long. This was just one of many of them. Probably he was happy and living in peace in some others.
"I love you, Loki," you mumbled. He caressed your skin with his thumbs and wiped the small tears that were running on your cheeks.
"I love you too."
Loki leaned to kiss you one last time. You welcomed the kiss with shut eyes, savouring his lips and the taste of your tears, mixing now with his own.
The pain started to bloom; every heartbeat felt like a sledgehammer pounding against his chest. He was not ready to let you go, so this was all he could do. The seidr flowed from his fingers, the green lights covering your body with the help of the spell he casted for you was made to protect you from anything that could get out of hand in the Sacred Timeline, particularly from his own hands, the hands of the TVA, or any other danger that could chase you. Because if something would happen to you due to his stubborn decision, Loki knew he wouldn't forgive himself. What he was sure about though, was that he would still look for you until the end of time.
So when the kiss ended, you fell asleep in seconds. He had to take your sleeping figure with his arms to your bedroom, where he carefully laid you down on the bed. Making sure you were comfortable in your sleep, fixing the pillows and the blankets, Loki remained there, just to take in the serenity emanating from you. It was something you had, the ease and calm your aura projected to everyone in the room. This was the last thing Loki wanted to save from you.
He kissed your forehead and dried the tears on your face before standing up. Once you were to wake up in some hours, you would not be able to know everything was real. Loki made sure you thought it was a dream. So that is what you would have in your head. Something you wished for so long that will only be nothing but thoughts, scenes and emotions that felt absolutely true. As real as life could be.
Loki took the TemPad and opened the timedoor to go back to the TVA, where he knew Mobius would be waiting already since he left for hours. Without looking back to your room, he stepped in and forced to compose himself just in case he would bump into someone else. He sighed, observing through the halls of the headquaters as he made his way back to the room that was assigned to him.
At his door, a worried Mobius was already waiting for him, walking in circles.
"God, Loki I thought you were gone for a second," the analyst breathed out. Loki just handed the TemPad and Mobius took it back. He noticed his weary demeanor and teary eyes. "Thank you. Sorry I doubted you for a second."
"It's fine," Loki shrugged it off, looking for something on his pocket. The photograph slipped from his fingers and fell down to the floor. Mobius was quick enough to pick it up for him, but as he gave it back to his owner he observed it thoroughly.
"So this was the personal thing you did," Mobius said, looking the photograph resting on Loki's hand. He remembered that face from his files.
"Yeah... I guess all set now," Loki sighed.
"Good, I hope you're ready for another trip to the Sacred Timeline." Mobius turned to walk away, deciding it was better to give him some time, but he turned back to Loki before doing so. "And if you're feeling like talking about this any day, only between us, just let me know."
And with that, he walked away. Loki smiled, standing alone outside his door.
You were right. Mobius was a good friend.

what once was mine | ch 5
Loki x Reader
Series Summary: When watching what once was supposed to be the rest of his life, in an empty room in the TVA, Loki sees someone he can't recognize; a girl who's all tenderness and loose smiles, and most importantly, she was smiling at him.
A/N: Writing a lovesick Loki is my new favorite hobby.
Masterlist | Read ch 4 here
Tumblr media
There was something about you. Still, he couldn't quite place what it was. But there was something. He's not sure if it's the way your eyes crinkle on the sides and you avoid your gaze when you smile or if it's the frown on your lips and the raised eyebrow look you usually give to him when he shows up at your desk.
Loki didn't know what it was about you, that got him in an absolute trance, and he felt the gravity around you pulling him in.
A sharp pain in the back of his head snapped him back to reality, a small grunt escaping his lips.
"I swear I'm regretting all my decisions right now," Mobius spoke from beside him, unrolling his jet ski magazine he had just smacked Loki with, "If I have to repeat everything I've just said just because you were too busy drooling over-"
"I was listening." Loki cut him off a little too urgently, finally moving his gaze away from where you had been talking with B-15 a few steps ahead of him. "And I wasn't drooling," he grumbled.
"Yeah, right," Mobius mumbled, leaning back on his chair as he followed Loki's gaze that had, unsurprisingly, returned to you. "Did you two get to talking already?"
Loki sighed, he watched as you propped yourself up on someone's desk, fiddling with the loose tie around your neck as you spoke with the hunter. "Not exactly," he frowned, "She still avoids me most of the time. She's difficult."
Mobius hummed in agreement, now mindlessly flipping through his magazine. "You're telling me."
Tapping against the arm of his chair, Loki craned his neck to look behind him where Mobius was sitting. "Are you two close?" He asked with genuine curiosity, "You seem close."
"She's a pain in my ass," Mobius threw the magazine aside and picked up a stack of documents, neatly placing them inside a folder. He briefly glanced at you, who now sat alone, swinging your feet back and forth as you watched people walk by, a small fond smile appeared on his features. "But she grows on you pretty fast," he spoke quieter, "I gotta give her that."
The ghost of a smile crept into Loki's lips too. He jumped slightly when the folder was unceremoniously dropped onto his lap.
"Now make yourself useful and take that to the library," Mobius raised an eyebrow at him, "Some of us actually have work to do."
─── ·❆· ───
Loki praised himself for being able to reach the library without getting lost. He read the date stamped on top of the file on his hands and browsed the shelves until he found said date, neatly stacking the file in between the others already there.
As he was about to walk out, he caught sight of the joyless woman who sat behind the desk in the corner; the permanent scowl still adorned her face as she typed away at her computer.
Loki took the sharp turn and came to stand before her. He waited a beat before pressing the bell atop her desk once.
The typing halted but only her eyes moved to look at him. "Yes?"
"I'm on the lookout for a few files, if you wouldn't mind assisting me." The smile on his lips was rather mischievous.
After about a minute of following the woman around the library, Loki was pleasantly surprised to be handed the file he had actually asked for.
"Happy reading," the woman mumbled, and left him be.
In between the cramped shelves, Loki turned the file in his hands, tracing his fingers under the name written on the first page. Your name.
He wondered for a moment if it would be inappropriate, an invasion of your privacy. Prying into your life as if it were a book for him to read. He tried to justify with the thought he'd only be reading the parts with him in it.
As he slowly made his way out of the halls of shelves, Loki took a brief look at the basic pieces of information on the cover of your file. Your picture at the front was… endearing—much as he wouldn't admit it out loud—you had your arms behind your back, your lips pulled into a line, and your eyes quite wide with apprehension, wearing the same TVA uniform that Loki got thrown into when he arrived. You were human and from Midgard, which already got Loki mildly confused as to why his future self would've gotten this close with a Midgardian of all people.
Loki rounded the corner of the last shelf with his eyes fixated on the file, and he nearly dropped it when something suddenly collided against him full force. Or rather, someone.
A small oof escaped your lips when you bumped face-first into him. You took a few steps back, blinking several times with a frown on your eyebrows.
Biting back a gasp of surprise, Loki quickly hid your file behind his back, mustering his most convincing innocent look.
Your eyes finally found him and you sighed quietly. "It's you."
A small, teasing grin stretched Loki's lips and he narrowed his eyes at you, "are you following me?"
You raised an unamused eyebrow at him, adjusting the lapel of your jacket and straightening your posture; "why would I follow you?"
"Because I'm terribly alluring." His voice took a slightly lower timbre, he leaned just a tad closer to you.
All you gave him was a roll of your eyes before circling past him so you could continue on your way. Loki turned with you, keeping his hands behind his back and away from your line of sight.
Much to your dismay, he fell into step with you.
"And now you're following me?" You asked, feigning uninterest as you made a point of avoiding his gaze, heading towards the elevator.
Loki hummed; "Not at all." He stayed just half a step behind you, trailing his eyes over the way your hair fell over your shoulder, just barely revealing the black earring you wore and making him wonder if it would feel as soft as it looked if he were to run his fingers through it. "We just happen to be going to the same place."
As you waited for the elevator to arrive, Loki managed to fold your file once and stash it inside the pocket of his jacket. You went in and Loki followed. The silence that lingered as the elevator slowly made its way up made Loki feel uneasy, he shifted in his stance and stole not-so-sneaky glances at you every few seconds. Has this elevator always been so slow?
"Would you like to stop for tea?" The words stumbled past Loki's lips on their own. "Or, coffee, whatever it is you drink." He felt the need to add, to feign nonchalance.
You kept quiet, but quiet was good, it wasn't a no. Loki realized, as he pretended not to be watching you, that what kept pulling him towards you wasn't curiosity anymore; at least not only curiosity. You were going to be his in the future, that much was clear, why or how he couldn't know, but his would-be future self had been lucky enough to be loved by you. And that was it, he realized. Loki never had anything to call his in his life, he never truly belonged. And when he first saw you on that screen, he just knew it had been his choice; he would have been lucky enough to find you and choose to call you his, to be yours.
Loki's breath hitched in his throat. That feeling in his chest, his heart knew where it belonged, who it belonged to; even before he did. And you were right there and Loki couldn't push away the thought that… he was yours, even if you weren't his. Not yet, and maybe not ever again.
You kept quiet. The elevator was nearing its stop when you hit the button that led to the cafeteria floor.
The place was emptier this time of day, almost peacefully so. There were only a few people here and there, sitting at the tables while enjoying a quick meal during their break.
You spared Loki a glance, "Go find us a table, yeah?"
Loki didn't object as you walked off to grab a drink. He picked a table in a far corner, away from any unwanted disturbances, and waited. This wasn't about drinking tea, not really; he didn't mind not having a drink.
You came back a few minutes later, holding two mugs; each steaming hot and with a bag of tea floating inside. You sat down in front of him and slid one of the mugs towards him.
Loki fought to keep his face impassive, to not make you uncomfortable by displaying how the gesture had touched him. He took the mug slowly, warm ceramic heating up his cold hands. When he took the first sip, his eyes briefly closed in delight, surprised that you knew exactly how he took his tea. But he shouldn't be.
When he opened his eyes again, he noticed your gaze was, for the first time today, fixed on him. Your lips were slightly parted and your hands hung loosely around your mug on the table. It was almost as if you were gauging his reaction, hanging onto every twitch of his muscles. To prove a fact or dismantle a lie.
"It's… lovely, thank you," Loki spoke softly.
You gulped at his words, then cleared your throat and took a generous sip of your own tea, that most likely burned its way down your throat given the way your eyes watered. "Yeah, sure."
Loki softly tapped his mug as it rested on the table, he glanced up at you, his eyes betraying him with the softness he tried to hide. "You know, I'm truly quite impressed."
He captured your attention, and you turned to him with slightly raised eyebrows.
"I wasn't expecting them to have such good tea around," Loki raised his mug to prove his point, "for a place that, literally, has access to all of time, their food options are rather limited." He complained with an indignant frown.
There was a smirk fighting its way into your lips that you gently ducked your head to hide. "I have to agree, sometimes I just wanna slip into the timeline to grab a milkshake or a smoothie."
Loki struggled to keep his voice working when he saw the hints of a smile on your face, but that's also the reason why he kept talking. "Right? And then there's the neverending paperwork. I mean, honestly, for a place like this they sure are so old-timey, aren't they?"
You laughed. Genuinely laughed, and Loki delighted in it. He wanted to bottle up the sound and keep it with him forever. His lips hovered in a dazed smile of his own, and he simply looked at you—all doe eyes and pink cheeks—engraving the image in his mind with the pride that he was the one who made you happy, if even for a second.
Shaking your head, you avoided his eyes. Biting your lower lip before you said; "Oh yes, that's one of my biggest critiques yet."
A quiet chuckle escaped Loki's lips, and he made it his mission to keep the conversation going for as long as you'd have him.
When you drank the last sip of your tea, which was most likely already cold given the time that had passed since you first got it, you looked at Loki with the ghosts of that smile still lingering—a little crooked and still a little hesitant, but beautiful to his eyes nonetheless.
"I have to go," you said, voice quieter, as if you spoke louder it would break the moment. Your eyes glimmered under the artificial lights, for a beat it looked like you wanted to say more but you bit it back. "But thank you for the company."
Loki nodded softly, "It was my pleasure." He hoped you could see it in his eyes that he meant it.
Loki watched you leave. He watched as you walked into the elevator and held his gaze from afar until the doors closed. The feeling hit him hard and square in the chest, making him close his eyes and exhale a shaky breath—he was falling for you, and it killed him to think that he might be falling alone.
He took the file still hidden in his jacket pocket, unfolding it only to see the picture of you staring back at him. He looked at it for a long time, yet never opened it. He wanted to do right by you. If he were to know you, know the story you would've had together, it would be because you choose to let him.
Later that day, Loki stopped by the library again. He took a single last glance at the cover of your file before stashing it back on the shelf.

Don / Timeline Mobius' kids are coded as Lokis.
This does NOT mean Mobius = father figure.
More so that Mobius' previous wife was probably a mischievous scamp, and... jet-skis also relate to Mobius' true passions.
What will HE want?
Let me explain :)
Tumblr media
First: look at the kids.
Kevin = Sylvie.
Tumblr media
That's a minute man ^
Just like Sylvie burnt in season 1, episode 1 – and everything she used (the lamp and the reset charges) was stolen, just like Kevin's matches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the other kid?
Sean = Loki.
"Don" gets him to help in the same way Mobius got Loki to help catch Sylvie in season 1.
This tactic...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...is the same as this tactic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The exact same method, on full display! Very amusing to me personally.
Aside from the fact that his kids are, hilariously, little hellions and perhaps take after their wayward mother (who maybe ran away in typical Loki fashion, if she wasn't snapped by Thanos? 👀)… and that that gave Mobius the unique ability to know how to "handle" Lokis, even subconsciously…
We see towards the end of the episode that "Don" cares about his kids, yes; of COURSE he cares about them! They need him!
But.
Being a parent reallyyyy isn't his passion. The work (in this case, jet-skis) is his ACTUAL passion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He drops everything kid-related to talk about jet-skis... and also drops everything kid-related to talk to Loki.
These 2 things explicitly criss-cross. Deliberately in the context of Don trying to get Loki to fill the role of his new romantic partner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus, y'know, there's the fact that Don immediately flirts with Loki at the store by telling him his entire schedule and announcing to him that he's single. Which is fucking amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, that's the actual dialogue.
So, I'll spell it all out:
Don's kids are mischievous scamps, and his wife probably is/was too.
Loki is Mobius' ideal partner (which we already knew, but this is another fun detail to enjoy!) – and Loki will actually STAY. He'll REMAIN, if you will.
Mobius' ideal life involves focusing on work that he's passionate about, not being a parent. And it's OKAY for him to want that! Especially in the context of his TVA life. He has purpose-driven work; he's not "abandoning" his kids. And he's helping others.
Loki's conversation with Sylvie is a whole other post to unpack, but: what's wrong with wanting something?
Tumblr media
Or: what's wrong with wanting SOMEONE?
It's about "who."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're very lucky... the where/when/why AND "who" align.
At the TVA, for Mobius, they do and they will.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, that's lovely.
Yeah.

yk what gets me? the way loki starts walking towards mobius without looking away from him, falters THEN goes after sylvie. they clearly wanted to stay, to reassure and comfort mobius, to defend him right then and there but sylvie already left and they NEEDED sylvie to know where they stood. that this wasn't sylvie and loki against the tva anymore, that this was loki and mobius trying to work with sylvie but ultimately ending up against her. that whole scene wasn't framed as romantic or had romantic tension whatsoever. it was loki being calm but firm about where they stood and trying to show sylvie that love and hope isn't a weakness by using THEMSELVES as an example bc they SEE THEMSELVES IN HER. i cant get over them standing as far as possible from sylvie and literally backing around the room to not be close to her. like it's so clear they wanted nothing more than to go to mobius and comfort him, which i suspect where they going after WALKING AWAY from sylvie (once again) but they went out of their way to defend mobius and yeah it would've been better for MOBIUS if they defended him infront of mobius himself but loki FINALLY know themselves and knows defending mobius right there would've had sylvie lashing out even more and maybe even actually hurting mobius in the process. it's so amazing to see loki's progress from season 1 bc they were still hotheaded and often acted carelessly but in this season, they're grounded, thoughtful and mature. they recognize that hope is the hardest thing to have and they know that bc they have someone who is SO full of hope despite having shit just constantly thrown at him. they've seen how hard hope can be and how necessary it is. they've learned to be grounded in themselves bc of mobius and his steady presence. they've changed and changed for the better which they never thought they were capable of doing but of course they are. everyone is. they just needed someone to show them that.

I'm so sorry for spam posting about Lokius. It will happen again.
Anyways, I wanna talk about how the fell first x fell harder thing works with them, in my personal opinion.
Let's get it out of the way: Mobius fell first, Loki fell harder. I think most of the fandom agrees with this.
Mobius studied Loki's life. He's seen all the bad and even downright unforgivable things Loki is capable of.
But he's also seen Loki interacting with his family and the people of Asgard, how he never seemed to fit in, how there always seemed to exist an emotional wall between him and pretty much everyone that wasn't Frigga. He's seen vulnerable moments other people in Loki's life can only dream of knowing about.
As I said, something Mobius definitely noticed is the big emotional wall that exists between Loki and other people.
So the first thing he does when he gets a chance to talk to Loki is try to break down said wall, and he does that by pressing him with questions and pushing all the buttons possible.
"Do you enjoy hurting people? Do you enjoy killing?"
"I'll kill you."
"What, like you did your mother?"
It's a cruel tactic, and considering Mobius’s personality it's safe to assume he didn’t enjoy doing that, but it's what you're expected to do with prisioners at the TVA, and in this case, it works. Loki opens up, and it makes things easier.
I've seen a lot of people joke about how Mobius studying Loki is basically him having either a hyperfixation or being a fanboy with a little celebrity crush, and... yeah? That's pretty much it?
I mean, come on. Even though it was necessary to understand Loki to work with him, you can’t tell me Mobius wasn't genuinely interested in him too. Even in season one, when things were far from perfect and there was still trust to be built, he seems to think of Loki as fascinating/endearing sometimes, and did nice things for him without expecting anything in return, like giving him the daggers, complimenting him, just overall speaking softly whenever they're talking. He wouldn't do that if he didn’t see Loki as more than a variant he was being forced to work with.
All of this, paired with his reaction to the possibility of Loki having a thing for Sylvie, paints Mobius as the person who fell/noticed his feelings first for me. I personally think he pushed these feelings aside due to a "It would never work" train of thought, even before Sylvie.
As for Loki, while he obviously didn't trust Mobius at first, once they started spending more time together, he seemed to start feeling safe and comfortable around him to a degree that he had not felt with anyone else in a long time. He sleeps peacefully around Mobius, allows himself to be playful, and seems to genuinely appreciate the nice things I mentioned Mobius did for him.
But he's also a very traumatized person who hasn't felt genuinely connected to anyone in a while, so he obviously has no idea what to do with this, and the high stakes he's dealing with obviously don't help. He doesn't have time to sit down and process how he truly feels about this random analyst that just came into his life and flipped it upside down. And even if he had the time, would he even manage to accept he was falling for someone? We're talking about Loki here.
This is where the biggest difference between their situations shines for me: Mobius had a long, boring time to think of Loki before even meeting him in person, and even when they did meet, he was dealing with less shit than Loki. He had time to think about Loki, come to a conclusion about his feelings, and make the conscious choice to not act on them/push them aside.
Loki was thrown on the TVA shortly after the events of Avengers, watched a tape of his entire life play before his very eyes, had to learn everything about the TVA and timelines and then met Sylvie and the other variants. It's not that he didn’t reciprocate, he simply didn’t have time to process his feelings.
Personally, I can see him having a moment of realization at the end of season one, when he realized how desperate he was for Mobius's comfort after being kicked through the door by Sylvie, and when the horror of Mobius not recognizing him set in.
And that's what I mean when I say he "fell harder": it's not that he loves Mobius more, it's that Mobius developed and accepted his feelings slowly, while Loki's feelings hit him like a train at the worst time possible.

What if Mobius was a villain/anti-hero in his past life?
Here’s why I think there’s a good possibility for this:
While it’s probably easier for Marvel to go the boring route (Mobius was simply a normal dude with a normal job and a normal family, etc), I think there’s more to Mobius than we think. Owen Wilson himself teased Mobius has a deeper story arc this season:
Tumblr media
In the latest episode, X-5 (or Brad) strikes a nerve when asking Mobius why he’s not interested in his past. Mobius tells Loki that he likes his life at the TVA- that’s his purpose and he’s good at it (My Lokius heart also tells me that it’s because he likes being with Loki and doesn’t want to lose him if he goes back to his past life- yeah yeah, I’m delusional, I know…)
I may be looking to hard into this (I’m a writer and reader, over-analyzing is what I do) but what if there’s a reason Mobius prefers his life at the TVA? Don’t get me wrong, I do believe that his memories have been wiped, but what if there’s something deep within him (part of his subconscious perhaps) that’s telling him to avoid his past?
I looked into Mobius’ comic counterpart to see what I could learn about the character. There’s not much. He’s had interactions with the Fantastic Four and She-Hulk, but there aren’t any details on his past. However, there are a few things I found interesting:
Tumblr media
We all know that Kang created the TVA, but could this imply that Mobius may have known Kang personally and chose to work with him? Let’s dive deeper:
Tumblr media
Mobius is also known as Mr. Tesseract. Why? I have no idea. He doesn’t seem to have any relation with the Tesseract. (There are some VERY cool fanarts though, so check them out if you have time). However, there’s more:
Tumblr media
There’s a Mr. Orobourous and a Mr. Paradox as well. We just met Orobourous (spelt as Ouroboros) in the first episode of season two. Also, connect the dots: Mr Paradox = General Dox? I may be looking too deep into this, but I feel like these three may be connected in some way.
While this still isn’t a lot of information, there’s still a chance that this alias has something to do with Mobius’ backstory in the show. So, here’s my theory:
What if Mobius, once known as Mr. Tesseract, worked closely with Kang? What if he helped build the TVA? There’s a possibility that he has powers he doesn’t know about (as well as O.B. and Dox) that helped structure the TVA. Mr. Tesseract may have powers similar to his namesake. Mobius balances the TVA’s power over space, Ouroboros (which, in definition, is a snake that represents infinity) balances the power over time, and Dox balances the power over reality.
So, why don’t they have their memories? I theorize that Mobius (and maybe the others) eventually realized that Kang was wrong. Maybe he attempted to overthrow him. In the end, Kang defeated him and took away his memories as punishment, making him forget about his powers. We also know that Mobius’ memories have been wiped more than once, so there’s a chance that Mobius’ powers (in theory) eventually resurface, causing Kang to repeat the process.
This may be just some wacko theory that I overanalyzed and spent too much time on (probably) but the idea excites me. If this is in anyway true, how will Mobius react? How will Loki react? How will this impact the course of the show?
I can’t wait to find out more. Again, Mobius may have just been some random jet ski enthusiast on the time line. But that’s the boring option. Marvel, please don’t be boring. (Marvel’s probably going to make it boring).
So, what are your theories?

Mischief Managed: a brief post on why we're not alone in loving Lokius (we never are. we have each other. but I mean the producers this time)
Kathryn Blair: writer and script editor, and co head-writer for episode 4: The Heart of the TVA. Here are two of her insta stories, posted both in the same day:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why this matters? This is basically confirming that when talking to Sylvie in the pie room, Loki compared Thor's love for Jane with his love for Mobius. This was in episode 4, the one she principally wrote.
Natalie Holt. We know Natalie, we love Natalie. In the images below you can see some posts she liked...suggestive, if you ask me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isaac Bauman. Cinematographer. The same man that talked about how this rainbow:
Tumblr media
took months of work to look like that... (like, 🤨🏳️‍🌈?)
Says this about Loki:
Tumblr media
Chances are if you're reading this post you agree with me, but if by coincidence anyone thinks he's talking about Sylvie, can you please...open your eyes? Whatever was between Loki and Sylvie passed as quickly as it came, and maybe they remained friends, but...come on, they're not IN LOVE.
And, of course, ❤️Tom❤️
We know he knows. And he's handling it ✨beautifully✨
Tumblr media
I know this is basically just...how do you call it? Bread crumb! (yes episode 3 reference pls tell me you get it) But it tells me that even if D!sney and Marvel make the rules, we play the game without them anyway so, yeah, there you go :))

"Time & the Trickster" A Loki/Doctor Who crossover
Tumblr media
Chapter 9: Look Up
Sylvie begins losing her patience as her relationship with The Doctor becomes frosty, making her secret more difficult to keep. Just as things begin to feel like heaven, you are shown the truth about the rueful fate that awaits Loki upon his return to the TVA, and decide that you no longer want to be a part of it.
CHAPTER WARNING (18+): none
Previous Chapter · Next Chapter MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“If the Stone is strong enough to pull you out there,” said OB, pointing nervously out toward the Loom, “Then I think it’ll work. The stones are not like magnets. Likes will attract if two active ones are within range.”
“I hardly think across time and space is within range,” Sylvie frowned. It looked like she would have to do all the dirty work herself…as usual. She should have never gone with him, not back in Oklahoma, not when they first met.
Mobius couldn’t pull himself away from the small window, as if he could somehow summon Loki back to the TVA, wherever he was. “Or, you could stop this right now and…”
“...and what?” Sylvie snapped, usually refusing to even speak to the blonde man who was seemingly in love with Loki.
He didn’t look away or miss a beat. “You could do it. Take his place.”
OB shook his head. “Her powers are weaker than his--”
“---I’m NOT weak!--”
“--you’re still a Loki! An Asgardian! It’s not about power, it’s about your goddamn bodies, okay?” Mobius reasoned bitterly. “You can handle being out there without noodling-out. You can unwind the timelines.”
“Be that as it may,” said OB, “I don’t think any of this should happen until Loki is back with us. He’d be locked forever in whatever reality he’s in, and for all we know, it could be the one where bear-sized seahorses run the Earth!”
Sylvie raised a skeptical eyebrow. OB shrugged. “I…I just don’t think he’d like living in that one.”
She frowned. “I’m just going to bring him back,” she decided. “I’m not sticking my neck out for him anymore.”
Mobius scoffed and muttered under his breath. “Anymore?” As Sylvie walked toward the door, Mobius caught her by the shoulder. “Did you ever?”
She gritted her teeth and roughly shrugged him off. “He’s a Loki, like me, he can handle himself.”
“Yeah, but the thing is, Sylvie,  the more I hear you speak,” Mobius stood up a little straighter, “The less I’m convinced you are a Loki.”
For someone who refused to go by the name, Sylvie became quite taken aback at the insult. Pouting, she opened the door and stepped into the expansive void, the chaos before her slowly turning into a massive pretzel of dying realities.
Without waiting to have any doubt, Sylvie chucked the small gray-green Time Stone into the Loom. She began to feel herself being yanked along with it…
Tumblr media
Snapping back into the moment, Sylvie found her conscious brain back in the TARDIS with the strange, mercurial little traveler.
She got the feeling if The Doctor knew who she really was, he’d urge her to do what Mobius had. There was a real vibe of “do-gooder” about him (made sense, given his chosen moniker). Hell, he’d probably ask for Loki’s autograph, for it seemed as much as she tried to emphasize that her mission was to return him, The Doctor kept prying her with irrelevant questions…all about him, of course.
“So, is he a natural ginger like in all the paintings?”
“No. It’s black hair.”
“Is he a prankster?”
“Not really, not like he once was.”
“Did he really kill Balder?”
“Who?”
“What about Sigyn?”
“What’s that?”
The Doctor looked up at Sylvie with cautious curiosity. Her story was compelling. Apparently, in some realities, multiple versions of oneself could exist in tandem, the loophole being a difference in their DNA. Ooh, everything he was learning by being here!
“For being so close to the God, you don’t seem to know a lot about his history, Sylvie,” he said.
“I never knew him before just a little bit ago,” Sylvie shrugged indifferently.
“And he’s running away from fixing all of this,” The Doctor added. “Selfish Trickster Loki, just like the legends.”
“It’s a self-sacrifice,” she replied, “I supposed anyone would run from sacrifice if they had the chance.”
The Doctor shook his head. “Oh, I have known so many who would prove you wrong.”
“Like her?” Sylvie pointed to the framed photo of Rose Tyler. The Doctor only looked at it for a moment.
“Yeah, Rose, she was one of the most selfless.”
“You have affairs with mortals?” Sylvie asked, a hint of disgust in her voice. “Don’t you find that to be a bit draining when they die?”
The Time Lord nodded, but then tweaked his lips into a thoughtful scowl. “Well yeah, but the amazing things they do for the world, for the universe…for me…in the end, not one of them died in vain. Every day I make sure that continues to be true.”
Sylvie paused. She was always so stepped in self-preservation that the notion of sacrifice was a foreign concept to her. Everything that was done had to be for her benefit, and on her terms. That was how she survived on her own for as long as she had.
“Sylvie, may I see the stone again? Perhaps I can triangulate the location of the other stone using yours,” said The Doctor, rather presumptuously. Sylvie rolled her eyes in her trademark way, handing it over once more.
The Doctor held it up to his left eye, twisting it under the dim gray TARDIS light.
He noticed something he hadn’t before: a crack. The stone was cracked. Perhaps that was why it didn’t seem to hold the power over the TARDIS that Loki’s stone seemed to have from whatever distance he was away. For some reason, he didn’t tell her when he handed it back.
“He may not be as far as we think,” The Doctor added. “But this isn’t strong enough to pick up much of a connection beyond these walls.”
“I don’t care,” Sylvie protested. “We don’t have time, and you know it. He has to go back.”
She went ignored. That was another thing she couldn’t stand about this fellow: his attention flitted about like a hummingbird. His full gaze could only be on her for a few seconds before a thought pulled him back into himself. She couldn’t help but feel like the more time she spent with The Doctor, the less convinced he was by her story.
Maybe staying in an inane, collapsing little world like this wouldn;t be so rough. After all, wasn’t it identical to Oklahoma in mediocrity? She would never again be burdened by magic, space tyrants, or two-faced trickster gods, and there were McDonald's restaurants everywhere! Maybe this was where she belonged, or at least always wanted to be.
But this world, like all the others, was dying. If she had any chance of staying here, she had to convince Loki to go to the Loom…and she had to do it without making him realize that she very well could do it herself. It was something she’d instinctually known all along. Of course she wasn’t going to let on to anyone else that she knew that any Loki variant could sit upon the old gilded throne of stories.
She began to leave. “Where are you off to?” asked The Doctor, going back to the console.
“Just stepping outside for air,” she replied casually.
“Don’t go far. You probably have a doppelganger here too. No telling what could happen if--”
But she’d already shut the door behind her, cutting off his warning. Sylvie looked up, and she was instantly glued to where she stood, paralyzed with fear by the appearance of the sky.
Tumblr media
Loki couldn’t sleep.
He sat at the rickety table by the window, peeking behind the blackout curtains that kept the early morning sun away from tired eyelids. Wrapped loosely in a robe, he had his legs up on the table, crossed at the ankle, as he sipped from a mug of bitter coffee courtesy of the third-rate brewer that came with the suite. He had a lot to think through.
You were sprawled out on the bed, naked, your chest exposed to the air (Joey had never come in last night, having the feeling he would only be a third wheel in the room). He smiled as he looked at you briefly, beautiful in repose.
I could stay with her forever.
Such a feeling had once been foreign to him, but it seemed a bit more prevalent since he was first arrested by the TVA. Mobius extracted that feeling from him. Perhaps Thor once had, in a brotherly manner, long before fate (and some very difficult decisions) separated them.
But life with you, stuck here in this pittance of a universe where magic was as much a myth as he was, would be days of laughs, nights of love, and adventures of a different sort, that few superpowered wanderers understood.  Once in a great while, Loki began to think that an existence in a mortal world might not be the prison of mediocrity that he once thought it to be. How bad was it? Mobius had once chosen that life, and it suited him well enough.
Funny, for all the beautiful immortal princesses and princes he’d met in his millennia, Loki was only just starting to understand quiet, intimate love. And it was two humans who were defining it for him more than any god ever did.
Yet Fate was still tugging at his sleeve, nagging him. Should I really be keeping my secret from her?
Maybe it wasn’t fair. You had no idea that you were helping lead Loki to a fate that, in ways, was worse than death. The loneliness Loki was staring down, only able to watch like a spectator as Mobius played with his sons, OB fiddled at his counter, and as you and Joey got high and watched Marvel movies.
There was a knock at the door. Loki peeked beyond the curtain again.
Margaret, the woman whose family owned the property you were staying on, was in the doorway with a covered tray.
“Just a moment,” Loki called, raising his voice. Margaret saw him and nodded patiently.
He crawled onto the bed and folded himself over your body. Your breaths were slow, shallow, and regular. He didn’t want to wake you, but he also didn’t want you to be exposed to anyone who wandered in, He stroked your cheek with the back of two of his fingers, calling your name softly in your ear until you were gently aroused…and woken up.
It hadn’t been a dream after all! You smiled slowly as you looked up into your new lover’s face.
“Lo…Loki?”
“Good morning, love,” he said, kissing you tenderly. “I’m sorry to wake you so unceremoniously, but the owner is at the door, and you’re still wearing the lovely outfit you had on last night.”
“Oh…oh…Oh!” You were bare as the day you were born.
You shot up and ran into the bathroom, grabbing the pile of clothes you’d stashed in there carelessly last after Loki carried you back to the room, wrinkled from the spring, eager to make love again on the bed. In seconds, you were dressed and back out into the main room, where Margaret was just setting down and revealing a large tray of brunch items: fruit salad, bacon sandwiches cut into palm-sized triangles, two large glasses of orange juice, and a large bowl piled high with seasoned potatoes. It smelled delightful, even from across the suite.
“They said you don’t get much fresh food on the boat, other than fish,” she said. “If you are leaving tonight, you may as well tuck in while you’re here!”
You rolled your eyes, “We’re really leaving in the evening?” Iceland was growing on you.
Margaret shrugged. “I said that was not a good idea either, and that you may have another night here, no extra charge.”
You smiled warming and went for a bacon sandwich, “Well, free room on land for another night, I’d say—”
“—we’ll talk to Joey and Carrie about it,” Loki interjected. “Are they around, by chance?”
You looked at him oddly. He looked a little too eager to get offshore.
“They’re eating and getting supplies down the road,” answered Margaret, “They seem to be amenable to staying as well.”
Loki nodded and looked at you with a smidge of concern.  “Well, we will let you know when they return. Excuse me, Y/N,” he brushed past you awkwardly and went into the bathroom, shutting the door and leaving you alone with the proprietor.
She was a middle-aged woman, short, squat, and vaguely reminiscent of Mrs. Potts from one of your favorite VHS tapes from childhood: Beauty & the Beast. Even so, she smiled slyly and giggled like a mischievous schoolgirl, taking about half of her life off of her face instantly.
“He looks like Loki!” she said excitedly. “You’re a lucky woman!”
Am I?
“I am,” you said quietly.
“Do you watch the shows and films?” she asked. “I am a big fan of him!”
You shrugged, ready to make a joke about stopping at the TV show, when Margaret’s shoulders dropped. “Very sad ending, of course.”
You stopped breathing. “What?”
“The ending,” she said, as if you already knew, “With the tree? It was lovely, but so hard to watch!”
You were clueless, but even the basic descriptor of “sad” was ominous to you. “I’m sorry…I didn’t…uh…we dropped our subscription last year, so I never…what happened?”
Her face dropped further. “Oh, I spoiled it. I’m sorry!”
“No! No…wait,” you said, looking back to the bathroom door. “I…uh…want to see what happens.”
The landlady looked at you with more than a little concern. “Well, I have the service in my den,” she said.
There was something missing at the end of the story, something Loki still wasn’t telling you. Something big.
“Loman?” you called loudly.
“…yes?” he asked from behind the door, the shower stall turning on.
You rolled your eyes. He wanted to be alone. He was clearly perturbed, either by the disruption, or the information that you were setting sail. Perhaps leaving him to be for a few hours was a good idea.
“Margaret is going to show me something in her house. I’ll be back later,” you said.
“Stay safe,” he replied. “If I may, I’m going to—”
“—take your time, love, there won’t be any real showers for another week and a half,” you said, listening for anything further from him before leaving for Margaret’s house, located beyond the property and right on the shore.
Tumblr media
Fucking spoilers!
Margaret was trying to get you to drink some tea to snap you out of your semi-catatonic state. You refused to grip anything she put into your hand, staring out from your seat in her rocking chair at the screen, which had long begun to auto-play the first episode of Ms. Marvel as you processed what you’d just seen.
“Y/N?” she asked. “I’m calling a doctor if you don’t speak to me.”
You were entirely desensitized. You didn’t know what to feel. Maybe it wasn’t real. The films and shows weren’t 100% with their details, as Loki had confirmed, perhaps this was some Shakespearean, dramatic conclusion to get Tom Hiddleston out of his contract. Loki would have told you if the entire time, he was really going off to imprison himself in a cage of his own making for all time. Watching, never interfering, his destiny confused for that of Atlas.
This whole time…I was bringing him closer to that?!
You got the feeling Loki would have preferred death to what you’d just seen play out. Giving his body to an Yggdrasil of timelines, only he could hold them aloft for all eternity, keeping them apart and keeping creation safe within each,
No, I won’t. Loneliness is his worst fear…I won’t lead him to the throne.
“Oh, Loman, I’m glad you’re here!” Margaret was saying from further away. As you regained consciousness, your host was letting Loki in, his face full of concern for you.
“Y/N—”
“—I’m going home,” you muttered, insecure in your declaration but choosing to commit to it all the same. Refusing to look at anyone, you got up, simply and neatly, only acknowledging Margaret as you attempted to maneuver around Loki, the last person you wanted to see, Regardless, he stopped you by throwing a single, strong forearm across your chest as you made an attempt to walk by.
“What did you just say?”
“Let go!”
“No.”
You growled, trying to get around the god-made barricade, to no avail. “Listen, she just showed me everything!”
“Y/N, please let me explain!”
You sucked in your breath in a vain attempt to look confident as you finally looked him in the eye. “Tell me it’s not what you’re going to do.”
Margaret began backing into the kitchen, “I...am going to wash something,” she mumbled awkwardly, shutting the sliding wooden door behind her,
“Y/N, let’s sit—” he went to touch your cheek in the tender way that sent shivers of pleasure down your legs, but you shook your way out of his grasp.
“Tell me right now…was this going down the whole time?” you asked with every cell radiating urgency,
He looked as if you’d correctly accused him of serial murder. He was easy enough to read, and he was telling you everything you needed to know.
“And you kept this from me so I wouldn’t know where I was bringing you the whole time, huh? Because keeping the taxi driver in the dark is always such a great idea!”
“You’ve moved the earth for me,” Loki replied, “I could have you thinking it would be for this.”
“For nothing?”
“No, for everything!” Loki insisted. “I have to go, and I have to go for you.”
Your heart went cold. Loki would endure eternal torment…and he was going to do it in your name. What was the term he’d used? “For all of us”?
For that bitch Sylvie too, apparently, you thought woefully.
“So…” you said, pausing for a moment and stepping away when Loki took a step toward you.
“All this time…I was bringing you closer to the worst thing that could ever happen to you.”
“No! Y/N don’t you dare look at it like that! You’re saving reality by delivering me back to the TVA—”
“—stop,” you said, stepping back and putting up a hand. “I’m not going to be complicit in this anymore. I’m not your warden. I’m not showing you the path to your doom,”
“Y/N, please!” he tried again.
You opened the front door, turning away and refusing to look back. “If Joey wants to continue taking you to your execution chamber, that’s his prerogative. I’m finding a way to get back to Syracuse.”
“No—”
“—goodbye, Loki,” you said bitterly between clenched teeth.
You looked up. Carrie had been standing there a whole time, out of breath.
“Loki….? Never mind,” she said, her voice heightened in a panic. “We need to leave soon.”
“I’m not going,” you repeated before she stopped you.
“Something’s up! Look at the sky!” she said, yanking harshly on your wrist and dragging you outside. Loki followed.
“Carrie?”
“JUST LOOK AT THE SKY!”
You and Loki looked up. The sky was green, and not even the natural green of a field or anything found in nature. The sky was bright green, like a neon sign, or a lime…or a Time Stone.

Why is Sylvie angry?
I want to elaborate on this point a little bit, as some people either don't quite understand or are a confused by the plot.
Read more about the relationship between Sylvie and Loki here: sylki meta
Tumblr media
"TVA is in danger"
If TVA is in danger, then literally EVERYTHING is in danger. TVA cannot be destroyed or simply abandoned, because the Multiverse will begin to self-destruct. Time Loom is overloaded with too many branches. Previously, they were simply cut off, but now everyone finally understands that this is wrong and we need to find another way.
By the way, it is very interesting that the organisation that used to destroy everything can now become the biggest defender.
Tumblr media
Loki Time Slipping to the future and saw that the situation is getting worse, there is complete Chaos in TVA, the Loom is overloaded, and the Evacuation is taking place.
They have very little time to deal with this problem. Loki is interested in this, because if this is not done, then everything, everyone will come to an end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sylvie did not see all this and does not even imagine that such consequences could be. She had a terrible life to live and TVA was to blame. From her point of view, it was just a terrible organisation that had a dictator and he was the only one to blame for all the problems.
She killed HWR and dismissed Timeline. It's really free will, so everyone can do whatever they want, she can do whatever she wants. Has she been living on Timeline for a while and is everything okay? Yeah. Nothing terrible is happening. (The time difference from TVA makes itself felt)
Tumblr media
And then Loki appears. Their last meeting was difficult, neither of them understands why, each of them made this choice. They also have a time difference. Let me remind you that Sylvie does not know what happened at TVA and she cannot know what happened to Loki. They are both confused.
But she agrees to talk. The conversation is not going well. Sylvie concludes that Loki is worried about the TVA. This immediately creates a barrier between them because she had been hoping that the TVA was a thing of the past, that it was all behind them. However, it turns out that it's not, and this fear and threat are still present.
Loki focuses on TVA because he was pushed away. It's always easier for him to avoid a difficult topic, and the TVA problem is a real threat and he can't ignore it either.
Tumblr media
Sylvie does not back down as soon as she learns that the branches are going to be pruned. She helps and even takes the step to come to TVA. She's seen Loki and Mobius stop these Minutemens, so that gives her a little bit of confidence… BUT! It was a failure and many branches were pruned. She is very hurt by this and angry that what she fought against is coming back.
Again, she does not see the danger that Loki was about to tell her about. She has just witnessed the TVA doing what they have always done. This cannot inspire confidence or a desire to be in this place.
Tumblr media
But this situation does not give her peace of mind. So she takes another step.
I think she was following Ravonna, because she heard in the final ep2 that they were searching for her. Again, let me remind you that Sylvie does not know that Ravonna is not an ally at the moment.
When she finds Victor Timeley, she sees that Loki is going to take him to TVA. She interprets this in her own way and becomes very angry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From her point of view, the situation is as follows: Ravonna, Loki, and Mobius are working together. That is, she thinks they have a plan and want to bring He Who Remains back to TVA. She is very annoyed by this, she does not understand what is happening at all. Loki tries to explain, but using "TVA is in danger" only makes her angrier.
Let me remind you that even Loki was not happy with the idea of taking Viktor to TVA, but he understands that there is No Choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sylvie accuses Loki of collaborating with Ravonna, Loki looks very confused and says openly that isn`t the case. Sylvie thinks about it.
I also note the fact that none of them attack each other. Loki shields Victor because he believes that Sylvie will not harm him (Loki) - and he is right, she doesn't.
But no one will back down, so you have to get out of this situation, but she doesn't like to do it and it's clearly visible:
Tumblr media
Later, she finds everyone. She overhears their entire dialogue and finally realises that Ravonna is not an ally. Mobius also tells her that Victor needed at TVA because It`s in danger. She uses magic in time to rescue the situation.
She doesn't kill Viktor. Loki did not interfere at this point and trusted her to decide for herself. Let me remind you that a lot depends on it now, but he still makes no attempt to stop her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the first steps towards trust and understanding of each other's actions. But it's a very good example of what happens when, instead of talking, people start to get angry or silent. This leads to complete misunderstanding and hurt.
This is a very real and live conflict. They could have avoided a lot of this if they had talked, but there are many things that get in the way, and the global threat is taking over.
They are growing, and I like that. I love watching deep stories. The characters have to have a path to reach some purpose, to learn about yourself.

*blows kiss* for the Brad girlies (gender neutral)
Title: Team-Building Activities
Series: Workplace Policies and Procedures
Pairing: Loki x Mobius x Brad Wolfe x Reader
Rating: Explicit
Word count: 9,7k
Summary: Brad is turning out to be a very uncooperative prisoner. Luckily, you have some ideas on how to get around that problem.
Warnings: Rough sex, choking, misuse of TVA technology for sex purposes, edging, sub!Brad, Dom!everyone else, my particular brand of purple prose, a truly disturbing lack of proof reading.
Excerpt:
“So, what’s the plan?” you ask, making a point of eating another spoonful of pie.
“Torture!” Loki replies chipperly.
“Light torture,” Mobius corrects.
You blink, swallowing what will definitely be your last mouthful of that dreadful pie. “I suppose we could do that,” you say.
“We’ll make a show of it, work in a bit of subterfuge,” Loki explains. “It’ll definitely work.”
You nod a couple of times. “Yeah, probably... Can I make a suggestion that doesn’t involve torture?”
Mobius and Loki exchange a look. Mobius is the one to speak: “What are you thinking?”

If the show ends with all the team members staying in their timelines, then I want Mobius to live in the same timeline as Thor and the rest of the Avengers.
I want him to work in a silly jet ski shop and Loki visits him every day, despite his duties as the head of the TVA.
And I want the first thing Mobius did in his new role was to take Loki to a cafe. So that they have a dialogue, like:
"Come on, choose whatever you want, I'll pay for it. I want you to find your favorite dessert. Not nuts and not grapes."
"My favorite dessert?"
"Yeah, and don't pretend that you liked the key lime pie. I didn't believe you for a second."
Yes, I want Loki to taste everything.
And then I'll start calling them pie husbands.

You're being mean
Tumblr media
gif not mine
Pairing: TVA!Loki x Fem!reader
Summary: The bastard of X-5 or "Brad Wolfe" as he now calls himself has returned to his original timeline and is a renowned actor. When you try to catch him he won't stop bothering you and crossing the line with you, luckily Loki comes to the rescue.
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: Not proofread, Loki torturing Brad, Bradley being a brat (and kinda flirty), Jealousy Loki i think that's all
Tumblr media
"I don't see it here, are you sure it's here?"
"Have I ever been wrong?"
Loki gave his friend a questioning look
"Ok ok but that time it was Miss Minutes' fault, not mine."
"You're bad at lying Mobius"
You walked up behind them wearing a beautiful long ivory dress. Mobius and Loki in their elegant tuxedos gave you an approving look.
"But he's right, X-5 is close, I feel it."
"So what are we waiting for? Let's go"
Mobius took the lead and you and Loki followed him. Loki stood next to you, wrapping his hand around your waist while he whispered in your ear.
"You look ravishing my dear"
"And your tuxedo looks wonderful on you"
Loki smiled as you placed a kiss on his cheek. The three of you walked through the alleys of the city in your elegant clothes. You arrived at the entrance of a theater with a giant billboard that said "ZANIAC"
"What kind of joke is this?". You said
"Looks like someone's been busy". Mobius joked
There were a lot of people crowded together and several photographers shooting their flashes at a guy who was getting out of a limousine dressed in a black tuxedo and a kind of white scarf over his shoulders. He smiled and greeted the people who smiled and applauded him. Loki, Mobius and you were left behind the crowd so he didn't see them.
"Let's get this over with"
You said as Loki offered you his arm and you placed your hand on it heading towards the red carpet entrance. Inside there seemed to be more people than outside, everyone was drinking and smiling while they chatted. Everything had a festive atmosphere. People approached X-5 and called him Brad Wolfe while he waved and posed smiling for the cameras.
The three of you stood in line as "Brad" walked by to say hello, upon seeing Mobius, Loki and you he almost dropped his bright smile but quickly hugged you and Mobius.
"Guys! It's good to see you!". He said with fake joy as he continued smiling at the paparazzi.
He was about to hug Loki but Loki looked at him seriously and this seemed to intimidate the actor so he lowered his arms and walked away clearing his throat.
"So your name is Brad Wolfe now?". You asked
"Bradley, indeed. Brad for friends". He said with a proud and presumptuous smile.
Bradley exhaled and clapped his hands while nervously looking away.
"Listen now I have an important premiere of my movie, what do you think if you have a drink while you wait? Mobius, Y/N what do you want?"
"surprise me". He said
"What he said"
"What about you Loki? What will you take?"
"Oh I'm fine, thank you"
"Ok then it will be two whiskeys and a martini for the lady"
Brad said winking as you rolled your eyes, Loki frowned.
"Well I guess this isn't so bad, we can drink while we work"
"Is he running?". Loki asked
"He is running!"
As Bradley escaped through a back door the three of you ran after him. Your dress and heels made it difficult for you to run but you managed by grabbing the hem of your dress and holding it up while trying not to slip and fall. Brad was fast but luckily he was still in your field of vision. You suddenly realized that Mobius was falling behind as he slowed down. You stopped and went for your friend
"Mobius, what's wrong, are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah it's just… I'm too old for this, I'm tired". He said while breathing heavily
"Come on, put your arm on my shoulder, I won't leave you here."
You were about to grab his arm but he stopped you by leaning his back against the brick wall.
"No, no, you have to reach him before we lose track of him. Go ahead!"
Reluctantly you continued running while wondering where the hell Loki had gone. Now Brad was further away but when he noticed that they were not chasing him he slowed down, that gave you an advantage so you took off your heels, throwing them near a trash can and ran with all your strength to catch up with him. Brad turned his head and saw you, nervously he started to run faster but you were already closing the distance and with a few steps you caught up with him. You grabbed him by the arm, he squirmed but couldn't get out of your grip.
"You won't be able to escape Brad". You said, catching your breath as you placed your hands on your hips.
“Please Y/N you don’t have to do this, just let me go”
"Let the only person who knows what happened to Dox and Sylvie escape? Let me think about it". You placed your index finger on your chin pretending to think. "Mmh NO"
Brad sighed with a grimace of disgust as he looked into the alleys for a possible escape route. Suddenly he slowly approached you, forcing you to press your back against the wall.
"Listen, we've worked together for a long time, you know me, I know you. Why don't we forget all this and just let me get on with what was supposed to be my life in the original timeline?"
You just looked at him with a frown without giving in, as Brad knew this he placed a hand gently on your shoulder.
"You know? If you let me stay here maybe I can even make a place for you in my career, you can surely be a great actress. Better than Brigitte Bardot if you let me say, which by the way the rumors are false, I'm not dating her if you're interested know"
Bradley smiled knowingly at you with that sickly vain smile he always had. You were about to tell him to go to hell when a shot of emerald green magic collided with him, sending him backwards until he fell on the cold floor near some stairs. You turned your head in surprise to see who had done that and you couldn't help a huge smile on your face. Your boyfriend Loki came walking opening his tuxedo with one hand. When he got close to you he asked you if you were okay, you said yes. Then he looked at Brad seriously.
"I think you're not playing fair, Brad."
Bradley growled and got up to run again, Loki ran after him.
"Meow". You purred, smiling amused.
Mobius, who had seen the whole scene, came trotting slowly towards you. I look at Loki who was running away and then at you, looking from one person to another with a confused grimace.
"You two are very weird"
Loki chased Brad down alleys until he reached a dead end, leaving Brad trapped between him and a large graffitied wall. Loki wasted no time and cloned himself using illusions, now these two Lokis cast a large horned shadow on the wall. The eyes of the original Loki turned green and the shadows took on a life of their own and captured Brad who was writhing and shaking his fists trying to get free. You and Mobius arrived just in time to see Bradley being humiliated.
"A little over the top, don't you think, all the shadow play?"
"I thought it was spot on"
Loki made his other clones disappear in a bright green snap, you smiled in delight. You loved when he did that.
"Of course my love"
***
When you returned to the TVA you already had your uniforms, you were wearing a long brown knee-length skirt with a matching jacket. They were about to enter the room where Brad was detained but first Mobius gave us a warning.
"Ok before we walk through that door I have to warn you that Brad knows all the interrogation strategies and he's also an asshole, so don't let him get under your skin okay?"
You nodded your head but Loki remained silent. You and Mobius looked at him and he felt offended.
"What?"
You laughed and went in with the others. The orange room was large and empty except for a small seat in the middle of the room where Bradley was.
"Welcome back, will remove this annoying collar from me?"
"Shut up." Mobius said
"Someone is grumpy today…"
You rolled your eyes trying not to exasperate yourself but Bbrad was a difficult guy to deal with.
"Let's get back to what interests us, where are Sylvie and Dox?". Loki asked
"I don't have the slightest idea, by the way, by what authority do they keep me here? Because in this entire room I don't see anyone with enough rank to do it"
"We don't need anyone's approval to arrest a hunter who abandoned his job."
Bradley looked at you with a swaggering sideways smile.
"Oh that's cute, really cute. But weren't you three the ones who said that free will is important and all that shit? Well, I went to get my life back, now tell me why you're upset with that."
"Because there are lives at stake"
Bradley's gaze passed from yours to Loki who was looking at him with his hands in his pockets and hunter's eyes.
"Lives at stake? Sure, I understand"
Brad repeated the phrase and sighed, shaking his head.
"We all know what you're trying to do. You're trying to make up for all the terrible things you've done in your pathetic life.."
Loki took a deep breath, closing his eyes, and Mobius was afraid that Loki would do something bad, so he stopped him.
"Ok that's enough"
"No, no Mobius, It's ok. Let him talk, I want to hear more"
"Good, everything you have tried to do to help others has only made things worse. I have read your file and the problem has always been you, you think you are special and you are not"
"Watch your viperous tongue Brad…"
You warned him gravely as you took a step forward, as if you wanted to assure him that if his next word is anything hurtful, it will be his death sentence.
"But it's the truth." He looked at you and then back at Loki. "Let's face it, it doesn't matter what you wear or what lies you tell your friend and yourself. You always make everything you touch worse. For Mobius, for Y/ N, for your mother.."
Brad shrugged and Loki raised his chin, feeling slightly hurt but trying to suppress it. That was the last straw for you. No one was going to dare talk like that about someone you loved, no matter who it was. You lowered your head for a second and let out an airy laugh full of anger and approached Brad with a firm step, clenching your fists.
"Ok you really have to learn to shut up"
"Y/N..." . Mobius said softly and with fear
"But why would I keep quiet? I'm just telling the truth."
You tensed your jaw as you placed your hands on your knees, leaning a little more towards his face to be almost at his height. He just looked at you defiantly, tilting his face up slightly.
"The only truth here is that you are an egocentric idiot who only cares about his timeline and not anyone else's, you said that Loki wasn't special, well you aren't either, let's be clear."
He looked at you laughing lowly, he seemed to have fun with this.
"You look adorable trying to insult me or take information from me. That's not going to work. I told you, I've known you for a long time and you wouldn't hurt a fly."
With every thing Brad said about you, Loki's jaw clenched more and his pupils dilated slightly, lowering his chin.
You stood up, crossing your arms and tilting your head, trying to analyze him.
"Why are you so sure about that?"
He laughed harder, smiling and looking away for a second to see you again with an even more arrogant attitude.
"You've always been like this, the sweet Y/N, so helpful but so weak in character. You think you can be tough and play bad cop, but you can't. In fact, I thought you were smarter than that."
Loki exhaled and moved uncomfortably in the place without stopping to see Brad, Loki seemed to want to kill him with his eyes. Mobius looked from side to side, not knowing what to do and fearing the worst.
"You know what? Someone as smart as you wouldn't have looked for a guy who thinks he's a pathetic god as a boyfriend. You would have looked for a better match."
Brad said that last bit with a stupid smug smile making his intentions clear when he said another match. You felt like you had had enough so you just smiled.
"Stand up now"
"Sure." He said with a shrug.
When he got up you got closer to him and looked at him sighing with a smile that announced a victory. You placed your hands on his shoulders.
"Maybe you're right, you know, Loki did horrible, awful things to a lot of people. And maybe it's also true that sometimes when he tries to help others he makes mistakes." You pretended to remove some lint from his shoulder, fix his clothes and comb his hair with a finger, Brad just followed your hand confused "But do you know what the difference is between him and you? That he does try to correct his mistakes and doesn't hide like a coward pretending that everything is fine like you"
Mobius lowered his head trying to suppress a laugh while Loki smiled slightly proud of you. Brad looked at Mobius with a frown and then turned to you.
"Oh, and one more thing"
Suddenly you kneed him hard in his groin, making him groan in pain, causing him to bend forward, placing his hands where you had hit him.
"Never underestimate me, honey"
You walked away with a triumphant look while now Mobius, unable to contain himself anymore, let out the laugh he had been holding for a long time. You approached Loki and grabbed his hand, intertwining your fingers with his.
"Are you alright?"
He looked at you lovingly, smiling and relaxing his jaw, feeling himself relax.
"Of course, my dear"
"Well I think we've had enough, we'll come back later"
Mobius said as he approached the two of you. Suddenly he came to your side and whispered to you.
"That was excellent!". He said smiling and raising his thumbs in approval.
You laughed and left the room with them. You wouldn't let anyone speak ill of your friends, much less Loki. Maybe he was a pathetic god, but he was your pathetic god.
***
this was so silly xd but I've wanted to write something like that ever since that episode came out.

what once was mine | ch 6
Loki x Reader
Series Summary: When watching what once was supposed to be the rest of his life, in an empty room in the TVA, Loki sees someone he can't recognize; a girl who's all tenderness and loose smiles, and most importantly, she was smiling at him.
A/N: This chapter might just be my favorite.
Masterlist | Read ch 5 here
Tumblr media
It's been a few days since Loki had convinced you to share that cup of tea with him, and things have been… pleasant. You were still guarded and sometimes on the defensive when around Loki, but you were not actively avoiding him anymore, he may even go as far as saying you might be enjoying his company at times.
There were also moments where those same defenses dulled down, moments where Loki would have glimpses of that same girl he had seen on TVA's time teather when he'd first arrived. And the more he spent time with you, the more he understood why he would've fallen for you in his future. And why he was falling for you now.
"Please, Mobius," you made a show of clasping your hands together right under your chin, "I just need a moment to breathe."
Loki and Mobius were sitting at the latter's desk, mindlessly chatting, and you had popped out of nowhere a few minutes ago, making yourself comfortable on top of his desk.
"There's air all around you, breathe away," Mobius gestured widely.
You rolled your eyes, but a smile lingered on your features. Loki subconsciously found himself mimicking it as he looked at you.
"You know what I mean," you said quieter, avoiding his eyes and swinging your feet back and forth softly. You briefly looked at Loki, gaze roaming over the slope of his nose and the lines of his jaw, before focusing back on Mobius; "Please?" You asked more genuinely.
Mobius sighed loudly, clearly already giving in to your pleading. He cursed under his breath and fished out his tempad from his pocket, giving it to you. "If you get caught, I'm pretending I don't know you and that you stole it from me."
The grin that painted your features was big and bright, "You know I'm not getting caught," you gave him a wink, and then added softly; "Thank you."
"Yeah, yeah," Mobius waved you off, but he was smiling too.
Loki watched the exchange quietly until you left and were out of earshot. He turned to Mobius, one elbow resting on the desk. "You never gave me the tempad when I asked."
Mobius side-eyed him, "That's because she's responsible, and you're not."
A deep frown appeared on Loki's face, he straightened his posture. "That's absurd, I'm way more responsible than she is." He spoke matter of factly, gesturing to the general direction you had scurried off to, "Have you seen her desk? I don't know how she even works in the middle of that mess."
Mobius chuckled, he was enjoying this. "I stand by my point."
─── ·❆· ───
Your clothes were clinging to your body, your hair stuck to your forehead, there were droplets on your eyelashes, and pools of water appeared on the floor from your dripping clothes with each step you took.
The TVA was mostly dark and empty, with only a few dim lights here and there, as it was already late. You smiled and chuckled to yourself as you walked past the library and headed to the elevator, feeling alive.
The doors of the elevator slowly slid open only to reveal Loki. He had a small pack of Skittles in one hand that you were certain you had seen on Mobius' desk earlier. His other hand stopped midair before it reached his mouth as soon as he laid eyes on you.
For the first time, your smile grew just a tad wider upon seeing him.
Loki had a confused crease on his eyebrows, his lips hung open for a second more as his gaze roamed up and down your body before settling on your face. "You're soaked." He stated, as if you didn't know.
"Yes," You beamed.
Loki's mouth opened and closed a few times. "Why?"
You took a single step closer to him, tilting your head to the side softly, watching as he visibly gulped at your closeness. "Don't you miss it?" You asked, voice quiet. "The rain, the wind, the sunlight, the smell of grass and trees?"
His bright eyes softened then, he glanced away and his expression turned melancholic for a moment, as if your question had reminded him of the feeling; "Yes, I suppose I do."
You pursed your lips, holding onto Mobius' tempad in your jacket pocket. A part of you had alarms blaring inside your head, the other, was begging you to not think and just do it. The weight of Loki's presence was familiar and foreign all the same. Dangerous territory, as you tiptoed the blurred lines of what he had started to mean to you, and the memories from before that still haunted your nightmares. Despite what you had so adamantly told yourself as soon as you laid eyes on Loki… you'd gone soft. Having him around seemed to ease the parts of your heart that still ached, even when you didn't want it to, even when you were still scared and confused.
Only today, you told yourself. Only today would be okay. Because the ocean that was his bright eyes held that same sadness that had drawn you to him for the first time all those years ago, after all. Denying it was becoming a fool's game.
You took the tempad from your pocket and hit a few buttons until a smoked-glass doorway popped open behind you. Glancing up at Loki, you said; "Come on," and turned around, walking into the doorway.
Loki hesitated for only a beat before discarding the pack of Skittles and following after you.
The first thing he felt was the heavy raindrops hitting his cheeks and soaking his clothes. Loki blinked a few times, narrowing his eyes so he could see past the storm. It was a deserted street, the worn roadway stretched far beyond what he could see, surrounded by green fields with no houses in sight; the sky was mostly cloudy, but on a far corner a few faint stripes of a setting sun could be spotted; the rain falling down was heavy and constant, pattering loudly against the asphalt and the tall grass beside it.
You stood a few feet ahead of him, with your head tilted up to the sky and your eyes closed. The rain cascaded down your skin, kissing your lips and trailing a path down your neck that Loki couldn't help but follow. It soaked your clothes and hair, just as it did his. And yet you looked absolutely ethereal.
Loki found himself glued to the ground as he simply took in the sight before him. The rain glistened on your skin as it was shaped by the rogue bouts of sunlight, a small blissed-out smile lingered on your lips as you took in the feeling of being under the earth's elements. Straight out of a dream.
Finally turning your attention to him, you stretched your arms to the side, speaking louder so he could hear you over the rain; "doesn't it make you feel alive?"
"That's certainly one way of putting it," Loki told you, taking half a step closer to you as he put his wet hair behind his ears.
You rolled your eyes but your smile remained, "Come on, Loki. The rain washes your soul, it's freeing, it's-" You looked up at the sky again, breathing in deeply, "It shows you can still feel."
Words failed Loki, he tried not to dwell too much on the fact that this was the first time you had called him by his name.
When he didn't answer, you looked at him for a beat, hesitating and worrying your lower lip between your teeth before you extended both hands towards him.
The rain somehow grew heavier, paired with a cold wind that made your hair flow. Loki switched his gaze between your eyes and your outstretched hands. Confused, asking for permission. When you simply wiggled your fingers, he took one of your hands, delicately, almost as if afraid to touch you.
You grasped him tightly with the reassurance he needed and reached for his other hand. You pulled him forward as you took a step backward to get him moving, and then started circling him, making him copy your movements until you fell into a messy dance. A genuine laugh escaped you, "Don't you feel it?"
Loki's smile followed yours, and if his eyes were suddenly pooling with happy tears, the rain would hide it. "I'm starting to," he said quietly, his gaze never leaving yours.
The grin on your lips remained as you closed your eyes and craned your neck up again, you leaned back and allowed Loki's hands to support half of your weight, with the safety that he'd hold you up.
And if he had any say in it, he'd never let go either.
After a few minutes under the rain, you told Loki you had another place you liked to escape to sometimes. Another smoked-glass doorway opened then, and it led to a clear night sky; under it was a small forest with a clearing up ahead, and a lonely bench in the middle of the low grass that had been faintly covered with bits of snow. A thousand stars danced in this sky, with no other light or cloud in sight to outshine their beauty. The lonely bench overlooked a view from up a mountain, making everything seem small and distant. Just like the roadway before, this place was also deserted.
You walked ahead, the only sound on the eery night being your boots crushing the grass and snow underneath. Loki followed, and with a flick of his wrist, his magic had the two of you dry and warm again.
You turned to him with a small, knowing smile and took a seat on the bench, "Thanks."
He simply smiled back, making himself comfortable beside you and looking up at the stars.
This place had always been your favorite, the first one you found after coming to the TVA, and the one you inevitably always came back to.
Feeling the weight of Loki's presence beside you, you weren't sure what you were doing. Only a few weeks ago you said you wanted nothing to do with him, yet here you are. You closed your eyes, pushing the thoughts away for now.
"I usually come here for the stars," you whispered into the night, your breath coming in white puffs of air.
Loki hummed, his gaze roaming over the constellations in the sky, "It is beautiful, but Midgard's skies-"
"Don't compare to Asgard's skies," you finished for him and shot a glance his way before focusing back on the sky, "yeah, I've been told."
A small chuckle escaped Loki, he nodded his head softly and looked down at his hands, his thumb scratching the skin of his other palm.
"One of the few good things about the TVA is this," you hugged your jacket closer to your body, "being able to be anywhere, anytime."
"Are you not worried about disrupting their so-called sacred timeline?" Loki asked.
You smirked, watching him from the side of your eye. "With time, you learn a few tricks on how to not create a branch right away. Such as avoiding people, not disrupting the place," you shrugged, "it gives you a few minutes at least."
Loki kept silent as he took in the new information, he looked from the starry sky to the low grass around his shoes. It would all stay the same when he left.
"It's almost as if we don't exist," you told him quietly.
Suddenly, a different flash of color caught your eyes, and your heartbeat sped up. You held onto your breath, feeling strangely giddy. "There it is," you pointed at the sky.
Loki looked at where you were pointing and his lips parted in silent wonder. It started on one side and soon flowed all around the stars above your heads; flashes of bright green, blue, and pink. Lights dancing in the sky.
A shaky sigh escaped you, "This is the other reason why I like to come here," you kept your voice low, as if the moment was a well-kept secret. The colors of the aurora were reflecting against your eyes. "It's so… enchanting."
Loki kept silent for a few beats, simply watching the show amidst the starry night. He then turned to you, taking in the way those same dancing colors shaped your profile. "It is," he breathed.
You didn't have to look at him to know he was looking at you. You could feel it. It wrapped your heart in a tight grip and blurred the sight of the colorful sky. You pursed your lips, lowering your head and curling in on yourself. "Please don't do that," your words broke in the middle.
Loki gulped the sudden lump in his throat, he felt as if he'd just ruined the moment yet he didn't know how. "I-"
"Don't look at me…" your voice got stuck. You glanced up at the sky, breathing in sharply to chase away the rogue tears. "Like that." It was nothing but a breath past your lips, you softly raised your eyebrows to accentuate the last word.
Don't look at me the way you used to when you were mine.
In the same heartbeat, Loki's gaze shifted to his shoes. An apology already lingered on his lips, but before he could say it, you spoke;
"We should go." You got up, reaching for the tempad in your pocket, "or we'll create a branch soon and this place will be crawling with minutemen." You didn't wait for his answer before walking a few steps away, needing a bit of space.
You heard as Loki followed you, but he kept his distance as he waited for you to open the doorway. You didn't like that distance.

As much as I love and hate Loki, there's a huge inconsistency that's bothered me since season 1. I've thought about this through the scope of the entire series, but as a huge Lokius shipper, I've definitely considered this through my not-so-rose-tinted shipping goggles as well.
If the TVA staff and agents are basically carbon-copies of their selves from the Sacred Timeline, where do they go from here?
As a Mobius and Lokius fan, I've dreaded (and reluctantly accepted) that Mobius most likely had a family on the Sacred Timeline. Okay, cool. However, since our little meow meow agent is practically a clone of his Sacred Timeline self, he couldn't possibly go back to them, right? Same with Casey, B-15, D-90, my beloved OB... It's even established in S1E1 that Loki can't go back to his timeline.
After a variant is "arrested" by the TVA, the timeline is reset. Thus, a "copy" of that individual starts anew on their timeline while the original undergoes trial and pruning. If Mobius, Casey, B-15, or any other TVA worker went back to their original timeline, there would be two of them-- the original and the new ST copy. Realistically (lol yeah I know), how could that work?
Maybe I'm looking too much into this, and the writers have come up with some way for everyone to go back to their original timelines (wouldn't put it past them, honestly). But to keep the branching timelines from utter chaos, wouldn't the TVA still need to exist (but in a better and more humane capacity)?
I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this! :)

I've seen so many posts talking about all the bad things about s2 of Loki, so things that ARE good about season 2 so far:
The mystery of episode 1 was, once you got into it, really compelling and sucked you into it
the pacing is much better in s2 than it was in s1
We're at the midway point and thus far Sylvie has barely had 5 minutes of screen time. She's not taking over the story. She's barely in the story. And though I do want to see her story come to a satisfying conclusion, it's been nice to not have her overpower the narrative
What wasn't working with Mobius and Loki in s1 IS working in s2. In s1 I couldn't believe they were friends if you forced me to, in S2 it is clear that they actually care about each other
The TVA is a lot more gray than it was in s1. In season 1 they tried really hard to make it Secretly We're the Victims, but in s2 they're adding a lot more nuance to what's going on
The cinematography has been amazing
The soundtrack of s2 is really good as well
Loki has been much more in character of OG loki than he was in s1. He doesn't fidget as much, he's not dismissive of things, he seems a lot more assure of himself in s2 than he did in s1. Like he's not constantly trying to prove something to Mobius. And this is because he and Mobius are actually friends in s2, so Loki feels secure in his presence and it's easy to show
Mobius has respect for Loki's abilties in s2. He lets Loki use magic and actually frequently encourages him to. Mobius doesn't see him as a stupid little "pussy cat" he actually sees Loki as a threat and lets him be a threat
Loki's use of magic feels a lot more like it's something he's been doing his entire life and less like a OH YEAH! HE HAS MAGIC QUICK USE THAT TO SHOW OFF FOR A MOMENT!! :DD like no. Loki braces for fights with magic. It's just really nice to see.
Loki hunting down Brad (?) in the opening of s2 and completely owning him. I have nothing else to say. That scene was THE scene to me.
Mobius and Loki are actually trying to take care of each other
Mobius has a lot more depth in this season because of how dark the TVA is
Ravonna's speech about how the TVA was held together by the skin of her teeth and how the moment she left it all fell apart. It was a really powerful moment that showcased how much depth there is the Ravonna.
Ravonna and Victor's sorta romance. I didn't love it, but it actually worked really well in the context of epi 3, and I love that they subverted your expectations by having it be Miss Minutes who was actually the insane lover
I didn't love most of episode 3, but I did think it was an interesting direction to take the series, adding in Victor. He's more sympathetic than HWR was so we feel more for him.
Loki vs Brad.
Episode 2
Have I mentioned that I love episode 2?
No push toward a sylki agenda. No push toward Lokius. Loki's relationships with everyone is purely platonic and it's clearly written as platonic and it's nice that Loki is just getting support from his friends, not being shoved into a romance box. While they've talked about Sylki, there has been exactly 0 moves to make it canon again. They're kind of ignoring it happened, which is probably for the best.
