this fucking song. the first time i ever listened to flatsound was spring of 2018 and i was drawn in immediately, mitch’s lyrics were so powerful and really resonated with me. he describes so many powerful emotions with such accuracy and depth that it stills blows my mind to this day that there’s somebody out there who’s able to articulate these feelings that me and others feel. it’s comforting because i really struggle with my emotions, and expressing how i feel and just hearing somebody being capable of writing things that i can’t even begin to describe is really fucking (as i said previously) comforting. in particular ‘you said okay’… it’s a piece of art, never have i listened to a song that has had so much emotion. it’s so powerful and his vocals just add even more to this already perfect song. it’s absolutely breathtaking. Mitch is such a fucking talented artist and i’m so grateful for his music.

i don’t know if anyone will see this but it doesn’t matter anyway.. i’m doing this for myself. i’ve been wanting to make a blog about music for a while i’m hoping it’ll help distract myself from my head lol

i haven't been on this site for so long. the thing that actually got me back here was flatsound a.k.a. mitch welling. been listening to that guy when i was fourteen or so, when i barely spoke english (as it's not my first language), translating his songs in google translator so i could understand them. but in the end, it wasn't really about the lyrics at all, but the feeling from the music. i think at that time it was my first experince with being (i guess) depressed, even though back then i had no idea those miserable feelings had a name. i just thought it was a fact, that i suck, i am ugly and will be ugly and miserable forever, and have no friends and no one to love me, for the rest of my life. now, ten years later i am hopefully somehow in a better place, but i stumbled upon his music recently again. and all those memories of me at 14, listening to flatsound, scrolling through tumblr, drawing sketches based on those songs and then uploading them on my blog – they came back. so i did too. it's like a really heavy, warm blanket of sadness, i always felt some sort of weird comfort in being miserable, depressed and alone, wallowing in self-pity. but i know it is a dangerous place to stay in, suddenly i am not 14 years old but actually have to function as an adult, i have responsibilities that don't care how i feel, so i never get to stay in that state for long these days. i just now feel so sorry for her, that she had no one to hug and tell her she is awesome and smart and beautiful. anyways thanks mitch, your work is amazing. i hope you are not sad all the time too.

All The Space In Between is such a good podcast for those who were depressed on tumblr in the early 2010s and now are learning how to heal and live life but still haven't really let go of tumblr
