Thinking about Card-dealer Trey in the Nightfall Au….
Mafia operative Trey, who’s always a familiar face in the Heartsabyul Casino. Always dressed in his best, a vest stretched over his torso, showing a well-muscled chest. A dark green clover pin resting right above his heart, trembling with every breath.
Trey Clover, whose sleeves are always rolled up. Just stopping right after the elbow, revealing toned forearm, lined with some faint scars. Remains of stitching, old wounds from his days as a more active member of the Heartsabyul group.
Now? He takes care of the headquarters, and of the Rose-Red Tyrant himself. You could consider him a… guard dog, of sorts. Oh, don’t get him wrong. Trey isn’t left here to quietly whittle away his time… before you could even blink, the ice-cold muzzle of a gun is jutted into your side.
Glancing up, you could see Trey’s eyes narrow ever so slightly behind his glasses, lips slipping into a crooked smirk. A spark of sadistic amusement flaring to life in those emerald eyes of his.
He isn’t just some old retiree left behind to rot, darling.
So do take care not to underestimate him, hm?
The gun is soon tucked away as quick as it was drawn, the ghost of the smirk still flickering across his lips. Gently slipping his hand through your arm, Trey tugs you forward. Since you’ve come all this way, why not have a game or two with the regulars?
The Heartsabyul headquarters also doubles as a grand Casino. Draped in scarlet and gold, the empire of cards, backed with elaborate designs. Yet everything in the place was centred around one subject.
Roses, dripping with the dark crimson of freshly spilled blood.
His thumb rubs soft, gentle circles into your arm. A gesture meant to reassure, perhaps. Yet all you could feel were the callouses on that finger, scrapping against your skin. You could only feel the weight of his arm, and how easily he could crush you, if Trey chose so.
He’s a gentle, familiar smiling face at the poker tables of the Casino. However, you shudder to think about what goes on, behind that placid smile.
Trey guides you through the room, his very footsteps muffled by a fine red carpet. Everywhere you looked, you see people hunched over slot machines, throwing cards down on velveted tables. Poor souls, throwing everything they owed just for another chance at the game. A weight presses itself into your shoulders. Trey’s arm, as he gently escorts you through the crowds.
Intimidated? Don’t worry too much. Desperation is a powerful force, but Trey would never allow you to go too far. As much as despair would be interesting to see on your face, Trey’s much too fond of you to ever see you lose.
You can trust him, at least on the poker table.
Trey is very much a skilled card dealer, after all.
You’ll never have a losing hand, if he’s the one dealing the cards.

‘The best disguise for a witch is a rather cheap witch’s outfit! Would a real witch buy clothes from a shop that also does a pretty good trade in naughty Fido jokes, indoor fireworks, laughable pantomime wigs and – our best and most profitable line – giant inflatable pink willies, suitable for hen nights? That would be unthinkable! It’s boffo, my dear, pure, unadulterated boffo! Disguise, subterfuge and misdirection are our watchwords.’

Obviously true. And not to forget: Republican state legislators are pretty much off the charts when it comes to being charged and convicted of abuse of minors.   [Scott Horton]
* * * *
Does America have a severe problem with Drag Queens molesting children? No. Does America have a severe problem with Republican elected officials molesting children? Yes. In fact, it's epidemic.

Marvel Misdirect
I know that the chances of this are next to zero but I still hold out hope.
What if Maria is somehow still alive and marvel just has this elaborate misdirect. They have fridged characters before or at least given female characters the short end of the stick so we are not surprised. We expect or at least would not be surprised that Maria is killed to further Fury’s storyline. What if they have realized this and are now using it to their advantage.
Marvel can bring Maria Hill back and it will be the biggest spy thriller plot twist ever. This is because we have come to expect marvel disappointing us in the realm of female characters. This will make Maria coming back even better.
I doubt that this will happen but still hope that it will.

I think Val was cruel when she talk about how would Shireen have to be killed because of greyscale. Many had speculated that she will be responsible for killing Shireen. I don't think it would happen. Val was cruel but she is talking from Wildlings beliefs. She thinks that grey death will come with Shireen and she was worried about Gilly child. Moreover she knew if she killed Shireen she is basically risking her and Monster lives. She told Jon to keep her away from them.
I agree that it's a misdirection.
What the scene does is posit the idea that Shireen is a child in mortal danger from unexpected sources - while working in the reminder that she is Stannis' only cow child. Now the reader knows to worry about her, but doesn't necessarily worry about danger from the correct direction.
What it also does is firmly shatter Jon's little hallucination about the "warrior princess" and "worthy wife of any lord" that he'd tripped into during the beginning of the chapter - after spending the early parts of the book refuting that very thing because - get this - Val is a wildling with wildly a different culture and belief system. Shocker.
Turns out that means she also has wildly different values from Jon "Would prefer not to see children killed for any reason" Snow. He is not some special wildling whisperer immune to culture clash. It reminds us that Jon is very much fallible, and that a cooperative prisoner is not A Loyal Friend but a person under duress with goals and priorities of their own that do not match the Kindly Prison Guard's. Something that may have become obscured by Jon's own self-image as a "friendly Jon Snow trying to save everyone" rather than as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch supporting Stannis, who made the wildlings kneel.
It's also GRRM putting a "lol no" and a period at the end of the Val-as-a-potential-love-interest tease, because this is the part of the story where his Wall plot approaches the massive turning point that is his stabbing, and the ensuing departure from Jon's previous trajectory away from his point of origin. The rubber band will pull them all back home soon, the time for false leads and false directions is past.
It's time to enter the endgame now.

I was playing through Genshin this morning and I came to a realization. Lyney's Vision, and likely Lynette's too, might be fake.
Now, I'm not saying they aren't Vision holders, but I don't think the Visions we see them wear are their actual visions. Because I noticed something odd when Lyney's burst is fully charged. Most other vision holders have their Vision glow or react in some way when this happens. But not Lyney.
Tumblr media
You see that little cat medallion there? Little tongues of flame start flying up from it when his burst is ready. This medallion is acting like a Vision. I'm thinking that this is so Lyney and Lynette do have access to their Visions during performances, even though there was that whole scene where they handed over their Visions before starting the show in Act 1.
Just something neat I wanted to point out!

Misdirection
I see this scene cross my dash all the time, everyone loves this action packed episode opener, but no one really seems to notice quite how much is happening here. Or just how active a part Anakin takes even before he saunters in once Obi-Wan and Cody are behind cover.
Tumblr media
None of this is focused on tearing down anyone's blorbos or pairings, don't get panicked before I've even said anything.
This is all about the scene using changes in camera angles and what people will assume they've seen against them in order to mislead.
Tumblr media
Cut to the point where they're on this bridge and the troopers of the 212th are running towards the enemy. You can see their little leggies pounding the ground as they advance
Tumblr media
You can also see, by the position of those bridge supports relative to his helmet, that Cody has stopped where he is
Tumblr media
The camera focus shifts to the missile being fired from the Separatists position
Tumblr media
And follows it upwards. Because that's what's important here. Right? The imminent destruction of Cody and his men?
Well, no. Because that isn't actually about to happen, but isn't it ✨dramatic✨
Tumblr media
Cody, at this point, is busy examining his own arm
Tumblr media
But quickly prompts the audience to focus on the missile by looking up at it too
Tumblr media
Insert a quick reminder of what it is that he's looking at
Tumblr media
Followed by a nice wide shot to focus on what's a stake here.
Cody central. Only a few other troopers, mostly bloodlessly dead, are in shot, and the crater in the ground he's stopped just short of
Tumblr media
He starts to duck and cover. Surely bracing for the impending impact. Right?
Tumblr media
But what's this? Just sneaking into shot from the left of screen?
Tumblr media
Yep, that's definitely a lightsaber
Tumblr media
Coming in all nice and super close up to him
Tumblr media
Yeah, you better duck. That thing's dangerous! Nice little sliver of dark clad shoulder just barely sneaking into view there, not at all like Kenobi's beige ensemble we'll see in a moment. The finer details are hard to see because it's all fast moving and deliberately obscured
Tumblr media
And now we get to see just how close up that lightsaber is to Cody as it strikes sparks off something so close to him that it could be taking his hand off
Tumblr media
But it sweeps past him leaving him with all of his original limbs still intact, and no obvious signs of damage.
So where did all those sparks come from?
What did that lightsaber make contact with?
And isn't it weird how that doesn't get mentioned by anyone at any point in this story arc?
.
But we must move on quickly because fast pacing means there's no time to question anything!
So we immediately cut to where Kenobi is standing far, far away on the other side of that crater deflecting incoming enemy fire and providing cover for his men.
Tumblr media
Smacking that missile with his lightsaber
Tumblr media
Cutting it into two pieces, with one half flying to the left of him
Tumblr media
And one half to the right
Tumblr media
Where it plunks down prettily and pinkly
Tumblr media
All neatly into the crater Cody had stopped by in the first place
Tumblr media
Leaving Cody to look up through the cloud of thrown up dust
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Make that odd looking arm gesture
Tumblr media
And we close up on Kenobi with angry eyebrows and gritted teeth
Tumblr media
Cut to a shocked sounding 'General!' from Cody
Tumblr media
Before everyone with any sense follows Kenobi's lead and scrambles for cover, leaving him to wonder where Anakin vanished off to, because he'd presumably have felt his presence there given his close proximity just seconds ago
Tumblr media
Only for Anakin to walk in all casual like and in a way that suggests to viewers he'd only just arrived there that very second.
Tumblr media
And make his oh-so-subtle play for Obi-Wan to follow his example, to do what he's doing, to take a step with him towards the dark side, but not without making sure that Rex won't see him do it beforehand.
And I find this entire scene fascinating

“James Bond novels to be reissued with racial references removed”
I've been a Bond fan since I was a kid. I read the comics, and getting to see the movies was such a big deal. I’ve only read two of the books, but they were fine entertainment. And that’s the thing here. This is not “great art” they are changing. And I was probably not going to read them ever anyway. So, it’s mostly a more general concern. “Sensitivity Readers” is an abhorrent concept, whether we are  talking about literature (for adults, or not), or any art in general. And it is misdirection; changing some old book to deflect attention from actually changing people's lives today. It’s about money and branding. It does not deserve to be taken seriously. It’s like removing the stink from rotten fish and keep selling the fish. All of the harmful stuff is still in there, you only succeed in making the most unwary miss it. Bond is colonialism, authoritarianism, violence, sexism, all sorts of crap. The “Sensitivity Reader” wants you to keep colonizing, keep empire going, just, you know, in a sensitive way. Don’t be crude about it.
Tumblr media
Yaroslav Horaks inks will always rock, though. Those lines, those blacks, to die for.
