Turgon was ridiculously excited to learn Maeglin was such a talented smith because it meant the Nolofinweans finally had a chance at one-upping the Feanorians in smith craft. He and Curufin exchanged a ton of angry letters challenging each other to contests of skill but they never actually got to have one. Finrod, Fingon, and Maedhros unanimously forbid any Nolofinwen Vs Feanorian competitions from taking place in Middle Earth. Results are still pending in Valinor.

AU where when Maeglin sneaks out of Goldolin he’s found by a group of dwarves who were friends with Eol (instead of the orcs). After the whole family disappeared without warning from Nan Elmoth they had become extremely worried and spend a lot of time looking for them. Maeglin is much more comfortable living with them than in Goldolin, and ends up staying with them for the rest of his life. He becomes an smith in a Dwarvish house that would eventually be lead by Dain Ironfoot, Thorin’s cousin. He moves with them to Erebor after Thorin and company retook it in the Hobbit, and knows Gimli through his life. He never actually thinks send word back to Gondolin of where he went and it became this big mystery that Gimli just casually drops centuries later at the Council of Elrond.

I headcanon that Anguirel and Anglachel can let their wielders communicate telepathically, so the minute Turin picked Anglachel up out of Thingol’s vault he got into contact with an extremely suprised Maeglin. I feel like they could become friends and never tell anyone about it. Not out of secrecy, just because they’re weird dorks and they wouldn’t think to share it with anyone if they weren’t asked. Like an extremely awkward pen-pal situation that they just ran with. They take a lot of advise from one another and it’s always well meaning, but terrible.

Eol’s swords were not the only cursed things he owned. He had an entire hoard of cursed, eldrich objects he collected over the years and just kept because he throught they were cool. As a result Maeglin has been cursed so often he doesn’t even notice they anymore. At this point they cancel each other out and he just brushes them off.
It saves a lot of haste in Gondolin any time a cursed object finds its way to Gondolin, or a scout comes back with a problem. Maeglin can just grab it and huck it over the wall. He’s the curse equivalent of the unafraid kid who gets snakes out of the pool.

Turgon and Caranthir are enemies but like in a very passive aggressive business-man kind of way. Like they try to sue/corporate-take over each other all the time. They call each other arch-nemesis but people mistake them for very friends and no one really takes them seriously, much to their chagrin. It’s their contribution to the family feud, they both wanna be the alpha business man of the Finweans.

Both Eol and Maeglin speak perfect Dwarvish. They’re the only elves to ever learn it and kept it secret at the Naugrim’s request. Eol outlived a lot of his Dwarvish friends and would whip it out every once in a while when he was visiting Nogrod or had company, to the surprise of their descendants. When Maeglin lived in Gondolin he kept journals in Dwarvish, but used elvish script so everyone assumed he was writing in code... He’s 50/50 for keeping really important secrets.

Thingol and Melian are Adult Couple Friends(TM) with Uinen and Ossë. It’s nice for Melian because she doesn’t get to see a lot of other Maia and Ossë keeps Thingol up to date with his relitaves across the sea. They do game nights every ten years (Tuesday) and Uinen and Ossë always bring a few of their minor ocean spirits so Luthien can play with kids her own age.

When they were in Valinor both Turgon and Caranthir had huge crushes on Finrod. This resulted is a centuries-long battle for Finrod’s affections where they would both try to insert themselves into his activities, and try sabotage each other at the same time. Finrod’s doing music lessons? Caranthir and Turgon are there. Finrod’s going on a trip to Alqualonde? Caranthir and Turgon came too. Finrod’s reading out his legal treatise? They’re just fawning over it. Both of them were to awkward to ever confess however, so to this day Finrod has no idea, he just loved hanging out with his cousins.
