A novelist who's fed up with the establishment profiting from Black entertainment uses a pen name to write a book that propels him into the heart of the hypocrisy and madness he claims to disdain.
Makes its point not very subtly, but still well and in a very entertaining way.
What I didn't expect was that it would include so many "normal" family problems. Like, difficult father, ailing mother, new relationship, estranged gay brother, etc. Taken together it distracts a bit from the main story.

Ist jetzt irgedwie schade, daß irgendwelche Pappnasen die Aufmerksamkeit für Bradley Coopers Leonard-Bernstein-Biographie Maestro übernäßig auf das prostethische Make-Up gelenkt haben, das übrigens ganz brillant ist. Ich denke, wenn Schauspieler nur noch Rollen spielen dürfen, die ganz genau wie sie aussehen, führt das zu keinen wirklichen Verbesserung in den Darstellungen. Wie natürlich oft bei Filmbiographien von Leuten, die man verehrt, kommen nicht völlig alle Aspekte und in diesem Falle Melodien vor, die man sich gewünscht hätte, ist hier angesichts des Maestros mannigfaltiger Betätigungsfelder natürlich auch besonders schwierig. Lauren Bacall und Stephen Sondheim weisen schön auf das Problem hin:
Aber eigentlich ist es doch recht würdig geworden. Rechnen Sie bald mit Candide! Außerdem bin ich ein bisschen in Carey Mulligan verliebt.
