Haha, Bakugo gets in AFO’s face and shouts that he, the ultimate angry foul-mouthed gremlin child, is the final boss. He’s once again harnessing his misunderstood villain-like energy and using it for good, helping Izuku stay focused on Tomura.

If AFO’s opening move is a haphazard ranged attack, and All Might’s is a “mad charge, no dodging,” then Bakugo definitely follows All Might and leads with up close, in-your-face explosions. Who says he can’t win facing the big bad guy head-on????

Every time I read anti-Nighteye posts I want to pull my own head off my shoulders in consternation and bewilderment and chuck it at the person

but I remind myself that 1) I will not change anybody's mind and 2) my own interpretation of his character and actions is also pretty subjective, an extrapolation of minimal canonical material

but still

that guy loved All Might so freaking much (canonical) and was so devastated by his refusal to take care of himself/let others take care of him in the face of his own impending doom (canonical) that I strenuously object to readings of his subsequent conduct as petty or self-serving. ok he is an asshole (canonical), but taking on Mirio was about trying to safeguard and preserve something he cherished and was afraid would be lost forever, and his nastiness toward Izuku strikes me as a transparent trauma/fear response--and yes also as misdirected anger toward All Might, which is not praiseworthy in him but which I find understandable and human (subjective)

also I have yet to see anti-Nighteye material that dings him for putting one of his employees into a kinky tickle box, what's up with that

When Toshinori starts having visions in Ch.401, he sees Nana and Nighteye, not Izuku. While Kamino was about what Toshinori had to live for in the future, this battle is about making peace with his past. Nana and Nighteye were obviously close to him, but more than that Toshinori feels like he wronged them and needs to atone. Both of them were fatally injured when he was NOT there. Both of them cared deeply about him, and he struggled to tell them what they meant to him as a human, not just as fellow heroes. When Toshinori hears Nana and Nighteye encouraging him to get up, and he internalizes their message, he is truly accepting their kindness for the first time. He’s living and surviving because they are there for him, and in doing so he atones for his past mistakes.
