Overall top 5 prog records?
ugh this was really hard for me to answer because it depends on your definition of prog and nobody can freaking agree whether anything is prog or not...like I've seen someone list hot rats as one of their favorite prog albums which I was surprised to see that's one of my favorites of all time but I don't really think of zappa as prog per se although of course it makes sense but. If i was gonna count him id include One Size Fits All But. idk and then like on the flip side like people will be like rush isn't prog so. Plus so many artists labelled as prog dont even like the label of prog so i don't know but. SOME of my favorite albums that are like. classic prog (in the sense that theyre mostly bands that came out of the 'underground' music scene in england in the the late 60s/early 70s and/or are bands that often get lavelled as prog) in no particular order:
larks tongues in aspic- king crimson, thick as a brick - jethro tull, animals - pink floyd, foxtrot - genesis (of course), the least we can do is wave to eachother - van der graaf generator, and also I realize now I hit 5 but I will say close to the edge as well. Again I never claimed to not be basic

Some of my favorite Lostwave Songs - Solved and Unsolved
For those looking for cool obscure music, lostwave is your friend! Don't mind me geeking out about unidentified or previously unidentified music aaa!
Solved -
Making Dedication by First Person - Probably my favorite lostwave song period. Beautiful lyrics. I found it took me a few listens before I really started appreciating it.
Cyan Daze by Chimera - THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTELY SLAMMIN' IT'S SO GOOOOOOD.
L.A. Woman by P.J. Marcus - If I had a nickel for every time I really loved a song called "L.A. Woman", I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
The Livin' and the Dyin' by Jim Dawson - Really beautiful song and an early lostwave solve!
On the Roof by Johan Lindell - The original "most mysterious song on the internet". Absolutely slammin'.
Traveling Minstrel by Richard Torrance - No fish.
Bird On a Wing by Rare Bird - Absolutely bangin' song, lovin' this dude's voice.
Common Hound by The Blind Venetians - Another early lostwave solve and absolutely awesome song.
Early in the Morning (Demo Version) by Excalibur - Much better than the final version imo. This song makes me feel like a 80s wizard shooting lightning out of his hands, which is extremely high praise if you ask me.
Little Islands by The Gallery - Great song with an emotional story behind its search. I'm so happy it's finally solved.
Ready n' Steady by D.A. - Not a unidentified song but a lost song! Well, now it's found but you get the idea. Deserved a release imo.
George Sand by Antonia and the Operators - Bangin' song. I wish there was more by this band they're so good honestly???
Organ by Jon Lord - This was solved in like 10 seconds but still worth putting on here. I love a good neo-classical piece.
Unsolved -
"The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" - You know I had to put this here.
"Fond My Mind" - Another classic lostwave song. They gotta solve this and TMMS eventually right? RIGHT???
"Wait Forever" - Very ethereal sounding. I really love this one. It's possibly by a German band called the In Tensions or the Intentions but there's no record of them anywhere online?
"Deluded" - Probably one of my favorites. This song SLAPS. The vocalist's performance is delightfully unhinged.
"Baby It's Not Too Late" - Song from an... *ahem* adult film, that's absolutely slammin'. A lot of vintage porn has great music for some reason??? Unfortunately this is likely unsolvable.
"I'm Almost In Love" - Another vintage porn song. This song has an absolutely awesome saxophone and keyboard part??? Also I have no idea why Barni used a picture of some pandas but I'm not complaining. Unfortunately this may be unsolvable.
"Losing My Patience" - Possibly from a porn film??? It's got that energy. I love the guitar solo here.
"Fly Away" - Another famous lostwave, this time from Japan! Despite the slightly unnerving tone, the lyrics are quite mundane???
"Light the Lanterns" - Sometimes called "The Third Most Mysterious Song on the Internet". I love the surreal lyrics.
"Writing from the Train" - Underrated lostwave song. Switches between two different languages for some reason???
"One More Chance" - I really like this one because I feel it has vintage anime vibes for some reason???
"Cat Swimming Guitar Solo" - Awesome guitar solo and Barni put a picture of a cat swimming for some reason, so exactly what it says on the tin!
There's so many more lostwave songs I wanna gush about so I might do a part 2???

"The next day at the hour of sunset Aragorn walked alone in we woods, and his heart was high within him; and he sang, for he was full of hope and the world was fair. And suddenly even as he sang he saw a maiden walking on a greensward among the white stems of the birches; and he halted amazed, thinking that he had strayed into a dream, or else that he had received the gift of the Elf-minstrels, who can make the things of which they sing appear before the eyes of those that listen." Jamie, who had been viewing the badge on the bonnet with disfavor, glanced down at me, and the grim line of his mouth relaxed.
"Ah, dinna worrit yourself on my account, Sassenach. It would ha' come to it sooner or later." He twisted the badge loose from the bonnet and smiled sourly at it, weighing it speculatively in his hand.
"D'ye ken my own motto, lass?" he asked. "My clan's, I mean?""No," I answered, startled. "What is it?"
He flipped the badge once in the air, caught it, and dropped it neatly into his sporran. He looked rather bleakly toward the open archway, where the MacKenzie clansmen were massing in untidy lines.
"Je suis prest," he replied, in surprisingly good French.
He glanced back, to see Rupert and another large MacKenzie I didn't know, faces flushed with high spirits and spirits of another kind, advancing with solid purpose. Rupert held a huge length of MacKenzie tartan cloth.
Without preliminaries, the other man reached for the buckle of Jamie's kilt."Best leave, Sassenach," Jamie advised briefly. "It's no place for women.""So I see," I responded dryly, and was rewarded with a wry smile as his hips were swathed in the new kilt, and the old one yanked deftly away beneath it, modesty preserved. Rupert and friend took him firmly by the arms and hustled him toward the archway..I turned without delay and made my way back toward the stair to the minstrels' gallery, carefully avoiding the eye of any clansman I passed. Once around the corner, I paused, shrinking back against the wall to avoid notice. I waited for a moment, until the corridor was temporarily deserted, then nipped inside the gallery door and pulled it quickly to behind me, before anyone else could come around the corner and see where I had gone.
The stairs were dimly lit by the glow from above, and I had no trouble keeping my footing on the wornflags. I climbed toward the noise and light, thinking of that last brief exchange.
"Je suis prest." I am ready. I hoped he was.

G. Mark Mulleian (1947-2022)
Mulleian was first discovered by author Leonard Roy Frank in 1968, a discovery which opened the doors to one of the most unique exhibits at the Frank Gallery On January I, 1970 Featuring the works of sculptor Benny Bufano and paintings by G. Mark Mulleian that brought national public attention and many notable admirers ranging from William Kunsler, attorney of the Chicago Seven trial, to the Three Christy Minstrels, a popular singing group of the 1960’s. and notables such as Elton John, Janice Joplin, Robert Shields, Shirley Temple Black, Leotine Price, and Herb Cean, and many more. Visitors to the Frank Gallery would bring people from all walks of life, ranging from the very young to the very old, from the poor to the very rich, from the common folk to the very famous, from the blue collar workers to the intellectuals. Mulleian’s works were breaking barriers through universal means, bringing people together, which eventually led to a large following of Mulleian’s paintings on a national and international scale...
“Spring Crossing” was one of San Francisco’s main attractions at The Frank Gallery on Sutter Street’s Gallery Row. Ron posed as Christ upon a 16 foot high cross, to equal the height of the scaffold where Mulleian was working. Ron posed for up to four hours at a time while passerby gaped in astonishment at both artist and model. People as far away as Bolder Creek, California and throughout the country would come to watch Mulleian at work on this epic peace bearing small gifts such as flowers, letters, and wine for the artist, followed by extensive media attention for months to come throughout the U.S. The painting took six months to complete. Mulleian was 25 years old.

So, @whatthewhenjustmighthavebeen did this thing recently where you list your favourite albums with this thing and I thought 'why not? It will be easy!'
Reader, it was not easy. Turns out a lot of my favourite artists have my favorite songs spread out over several albums (looking at you, Queen).
The above are all albums where I actually listen to (most of) the album and not just a choice selection of three to four songs. I like to listen to whole albums, I just don't like a whole lot well enough to do it. Also, I tried to limit the number of Jethro Tull albums because, you know. I could also have included Minstrel in the Gallery, Crest of a Knave, and Rock Island.
Full list under the cut, in no particular order.
Feel free to claim I tagged you!

I love your old school tea posts as I'm a big Stones fan. Can you say anything more about the P.P. Arnold and Brian Jones relationship?
Tumblr media
So, here's more ☕️☕️☕️ from P.P. Arnold herself:
"One Saturday morning in 1966 while I was still in Epsom, I’d received a phone call from Brian Jones inviting me to London. He sent his Rolls-Royce for me and I was driven to his  beautiful flat in Courtfield Road, South Kensington.
When I rang the bell, Brian came to the door. He was soft-spoken and polite as always, greeting me warmly. I’d heard gossip from Mick [Jagger] about his drug habits but we’d never talked directly. Besides, all the Stones had shown us respect and love throughout the tour.
If Mick was an extrovert, Brian seemed just the opposite, but that was fine, as I too felt sensitive, vulnerable and wary. He rolled a hash joint and made me feel welcome as we talked about Epsom.
…Brian’s flat was really just one huge room, a small kitchen and a bathroom. It too was decorated with rich fabrics, rugs and embroideries from Morocco, but was fairly disorderly next to Mick’s flat. A wooden staircase led up to a minstrel gallery and I loved its high-beamed ceilings, big windows and skylight. Magazines, papers and clothing were strewn everywhere. The antique chairs needed reupholstering and the bed was just a big mattress on the floor. There was a real hippy vibe, an intoxicating mix of past centuries with psychedelic ‘60s, including Indian and Moroccan influences. The hash joint was also pretty powerful, but it helped me to relax.
Brian was annoyed about Mick’s behavior towards me, which was very sweet. I explained that Mick and I had not made personal commitments. Yes, I was hurt, but I was in no position to judge. I hadn’t stayed in England to be Mick’s girlfriend. I knew Mick and Marianne had a thing going. Afterwards, I wondered if Brian’s compassion for me reflected his own estrangement within the Stones camp.
He was very cute and sexy and looked aristocratic, eccentric and yet elegant in his flamboyant attire, his dandy scarves and beautiful smoking jacket. I thought he had a mystical charisma about him. I was never physically attracted to Brian and didn’t want to send out the wrong signals, but he was a perfect gentleman and host. He played some blues and R&B and I felt at home right away. While we smoked, he introduced me to some mystical Indian sounds. I’d smoked marijuana with Gabriel and hashish with Mick, but this was my first time in an environment that let me experience its effects fully. There was a piano and a beautiful collection of guitars, mandolins and other exotic string instruments. I was in awe of his musicality. He was deep and very talented, but there also seemed to be a sadness about him.
We talked about my roots and family and he talked about music and art. I felt comfortable and safe, not intimidated at all. With so little experience dating, I still believed that if you were drinking and smoking alone with a guy, they wanted sex with you, but he made no advances and I appreciated this respect.
He had to go out for a while and after showing me how the rolling machine worked he left me on my own…After a while he returned with his close friend Tara Browne, the heir to the Guinness fortune.
…Brian’s vibe had drastically changed and the hash wasn’t helping me join them. I suggested it was time for me to go. He urged me to stay over and said someone could drive me back to Epsom the following morning. I was apprehensive, but he assured me I had nothing to worry about. I decided to trust him and not get paranoid…
It was a lovely evening in very interesting company, especially after the delicious Indian food they had brought back with them. Tara left in the early hours and I joined Brian in his one bed, feeling secure enough to enjoy a cuddle and warm, gentle kisses with him.
Tumblr media
…Brian was kind and had displayed genuine friendship. I felt true sensitivity towards him. It had been a magical day at a delicate time of transition and had helped me put my decision to stay in England in perspective. He said I was welcome to visit whenever I got bored and I did so a couple more times, though I wish that I had been more open with him. I’ll never forget his kindness.”
So, sis messed around with BOTH of them! 💅🏿

He's Half My Soul as the poets say, He's my whole World
Tumblr media
A/n: Lindir deserves the world, and I would give it to him if I could, but he would die of embarrassment
Lindir X Reader
Imagine: Being Elrond's Daughter and being in love with Lindir, Till you finally confess in the most romantic place in Imladris.
Ft. Arwen is the best Wingman/Wingwoman, Elladan teasing, Glorfindel being a pain in the ass, Elrond Loving the Drama of his Kingdom, Elrohir giving up on babysitting his twin
You sighed in annoyance at your Brother Elladan's constant teasing about you being in love with Lindir, it was so obvious apart from to Lindir himself that Glorfindel had joined him, but you always over heard the annoyed scolding from Erestor he got if Erestor caught him teasing you.
Finally you had enough and decided to switch it on him before sorting your own Love life out, "What about you and Legolas" You replied sassly as you could before leaving a muttering and spluttering Elladan behind you as you left your room in an attempt to find Lindir.
You decided to poke your head threw the Library door you found him there often yet Erestor turned you away saying he had not seen Lindir today, next you checked the kitchens the Ellon often stress baked but today didn't seem like one of those days so you carried on your search you checked the entrance of the realm and nope he was not greeting anyone, you popped your head around your father's study's door.
"Can I help you Y/n" Elrond questioned you nodded
"Have you see Lindir Ada Erestor has not seen him and neither have the chefs" You questioned
"I have not, it is his day off today perhaps try the gardens, hall of fire and the gallery" Elrond replied giving you plenty of options to look for him at, You decided to start at the hall of fire since it was closest, yet he was not there, nor was he in the gallery, Imladris had many gardens, yet you knew the one Lindir always went to, it was on the furthest side of the city, it was peaceful as not many ventured that far out unless they lived around there.
You remember Lindir mentioning he liked to go there on his days off, it was lucky for you, as it was close to where you wanted to show him, not many people new about it only you and your father as you had found it on one of your yearly adventures around Imladris, the land was never fully explored, the place was up a wooden path where the trees arched over you like an archway, a natural bridge of an old fallen down tree crossed the Anduin, it led you threw a meadow of wild flowers until a large lake with a waterfall, the lake had bioluminescent algae in it, in the night it looked like a sea of stars, epically with how the moon lit the place up, it was truly beautiful.
You finally reached the gardens, you did not see Lindir, but this was one of the bigger gardens you walked threw it until you found the waterfall tucked away in a corner of the garden, you spotted Lindir watching a bee by a rose.
"Lindir, may I talk to you, I am sorry this is your day off but i do believe it to be urgent" You said
"Is Lord Elrond in Requestance of my Assistance" Lindir questioned
"No I'm afraid I am, may we take a walk" You asked Lindir nodded and followed you not questioning where you both where heading to.
You reached the meadow at sunset it gave the mountains a glow to them.
"It is getting late perhaps we should head back" Lindir said
"It is getting close, Lindir, there is a shorter way back as it links onto the hidden pass" You replied the minstrel simply nodded
"I should have asked you to bring your lyre, oh well next time, come we should hurry" You said taking Lindir's hand you missed his blush as you pulled him down another hidden this time it lead to a clearing with a lake and a waterfall in it you turned to Lindir and pulled his other hand into your other hand and pulled him in front of the lake.
"We should go in" You said
"But My Lady that would be Inappropriate, and we have not bung any towels to dry ourselves with, if we did go in" Lindir said, red raising in his ears
"Would it really be inappropriate even after I confess my feelings towards you Lindir, I have not been able to get you off my mind, every time I see you I stumble over my words to get them out in a sentence which makes sense to the point where i have to imagine you as Erestor to help me, You have a beautiful voice, it enchants me every time I hear you sing, it is as if a siren has caught me in it's song, the way the light hits you makes you look ethereal, You have truly become the other half of my soul, my heart yearns for you Lindir, You are my World, every time I see you it is as if everyone else has disappeared and I get butterflies in my stomach" You said leaning your forehead against the blushing Ellon's.
"M-my Lady, hîr Elrond would not be pleased if i am the one to take your heart, Aran Thranduil has been trying to arrange a marriage between you and Legolas as of late, it would be rude of me to obstruct him, in his efforts" Lindir said
"Ada does not care who I love, he was the one who urged me to confess to you sooner so he can have a reason to turn down Aran Thranduil on his offer, Besides Elladan will be more than pleased to marry Legolas in my sted, ada loves you as if you are his son Lindir" You said
"But I cannot Protect you, I cannot Fight" Lindir said
"But I can, I can protect you Lindir" You said pushing a strand of his hair over his ear
"M-my Lady" Lindir said he was silenced by your finger on his lip
"It is alright if you do not Love me back I will leave this alone, if that is the case" You said sadly hanging your head low the minstrel had a look of distress in his eyes to see you so sad.
"M-my Lady, you did not allow me to finish what I was going to say" Lindir said pushing your chin up
"hîr Elrond, is aware of my feelings towards you, I asked him if I could pursue a relationship with you he agreed, Me and your sister where planning on letting you know tomorrow, you just beat me to my confession" Lindir said you smiled and leaned in towards Lindir as you pressed a kiss on his lips.
Your Lips Molded gently together with his as you wrapped your arms around his neck, Lindir separated from you.
"What about the Swim you offered Meleth-Nin" Lindir questioned you smiled leaning into the hands he had around your waist, you leaned your foreheads together.
"Where's the Lindir gone which was shy, I enjoyed the cranky, shy ellon" you said the minstrel smiled himself.
"He's still here yet he's just had a confidence boost by getting the Lord of Imladris' daughter to be his" Lindir replied
"I confessed I got you to be mine, other way around song bird" you teased he immediately turned red at the nickname
"There's the elf I fell in love with, and lets, I came to show you this and I don't tend on stopping short, apparently this lake has bioluminescent algae in it, which makes it look like a sea of stars, I believe this is the most romantic place in Imladris" You said
"I thought the cherry tree field is romantic" Lindir said
"That's cliché Meleth-nin Arwen maybe a good wingwoman but everyone confesses there on the bridge over the lake of the cherry tree field, I thought this would be more romantic and mood setting, the light makes you look magical Lindir" You said he smiled
"I must agree this is much better than the cherry tree field" Lindir said as you rested your head on his shoulder
"Ada confessed to naneth In a place like this in caras galadhon, apart from no sea of stars, that's rare according to Erestor, so I stuck to family tradition" You said with a smile Lindir smiled down to you.
Elvish Translations:
hîr - Lord
Aran - King
Ada - Father
Naneth - Mother
Meleth-nin - My Love
Ellon - Male Elf
Useful Information:
Lindir roughly translates to Singer or Song Bird, hence my Nickname for him is Song Bird
Minstrel is a medieval singer or musician, especially one who sang or recited lyric or heroic poetry to a musical accompaniment for the nobility. according to Lotr Fandom Lindir is a Minstrel yet he is also Elrond's Servant/Steward.
Elrond Loving Lindir as a son is from my headcanon.
Bioluminescent Algae is actually a thing on earth, it is very rare, the only place i know which has it is called the Sea of Stars and it's located Maldives.
Siren's were dangerous creatures who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island, Lindir is a Minstrel hence why I mentioned this though i doubt they actually exist in Middle-Earth.
Lindir doesn't seem like an elf which would fight and he would prefer peace, so i swapped the gender roles around (gender roles are stupid anyway) especially since i believe if you are of Noble blood, Like being a Lord or a King and your a female your husband or lover would be expected to protect you.
Lyre is a stringed instrument like a small U-shaped harp with strings fixed to a crossbar, used especially in ancient Greece. I believe Lindir would use it if he had to move it across long distances but in Imladris he would play a 36 stringed harp.
I head cannon Lindir stress bakes much like Bilbo would, because he would not be able to focus on making a song otherwise that's why the reader checks the Kitchen because Lindir is a very stressful elf.
A/n: let me know if you like my description to why I added some 'easter eggs' into the end of my work like explanations for Elvish courting ect. or Mythology I added in or my head canons. and let me know if the Elvish translations are more useful at the End, beginning or in (brackets) next to the Elvish word or phrase.

May - The Keep, South, Area 1B
#dungeon23
5.4. Northwest Gallery
Eight paintings line the walls.
1. A handful of snails, crushed on a cement slab.
2. The interior of a clock tower.
3. A hearth, on fire, the blaze is out of control.
4. A lean man with a top-knot and a severe case of posterior pelvic tilt. Their hands, deep in their pockets. They step boldly forward.
5. A frame with no picture, the bare wall shows through on the other side. From behind the wall, the sound of knocking.
6. A bathtub, filled with just enough water to drown in, should you fall asleep.
7. A woman hunches, picking up the pieces of a shattered plate.
8. Ice cream. The kind you like.
Under a glass cloche: A spindly plant, sprouting vibrant, green leaves with dark purple veins that pulse like a heartbeat.
Tumblr media
5.5. Northeast Gallery
Eight paintings line the walls.
1. A house, but only half. A half-house.
2. A room with large windows, from which pale light pours in. In the room’s center a tree, with flaking, pale bark. Its growth stunted by the ceiling.
3. A highway at twilight, filled with empty automobiles. In the distance, an old woman waits high upon the overpass.
4. Abstract. Remarkably, the feeling summer.
5. A taxidermied bear, its muzzle missing. Mechanical parts protrude from the hole. If it could sing, it would.
6. A void, absent of form or light.
7. A flawless reflective pane of glass. A mirror.
8. A wild dog standing in a dark doorway. Its eyes are large, spinning spirals of incandescent sparks. It hunts.
Inside a glass display: An exceptionally heavy scepter, laden with excessive ornamentation. Grasping the handle is troublesome and getting it through doorways is inconvenient.
Tumblr media
5.6. Hema’s Pool
The floor of this room is filled with knee-deep water. At its center, a suspended, metallic sculpture, an amalgamation of human organs intersecting with one another.
If the surface of the water is broken, the organs will activate and manifest a “thing”. A scene, object, or being, based on 2D2 art pieces from the four rooms surrounding it. If a complex “thing” is conjured, the sculpture is likely to be lost in it, obscured by the illusion.
This “thing” is seeded by the last thought that entered the adventurer's head, before they stepped into the pool.
This “thing”, for all intents and purposes, is real, until a situation is resolved. The situation is whatever the adventures perceive it to be. However they decide to solve the situation, is correct. Alternatively, they can find and destroy the organ sculpture, to break the illusion.
Tumblr media
5.7. Southwest Gallery
Six paintings line the walls.
1. A young servant, holding a water jug. Her smile contains far too many teeth.
2. An old man, a farmer. Face cracked and dry, hands knotted and gnarled.
3. A ceremony, six figures dance around a goblet under moonlight.
4. A large fish with feeler fins that seem to probe at the edges of the canvass it’s painted on.
5. A faceless man, dressed in a suit tailored from the skin of cucumbers.
6. A stark bedroom, an empty bed, a massive hole in the wall, as if something had been blown out of the room.
Inside a glass display: A chunk of bark, carved to look like a sea-side village. Rows of fishermen with vacant eyes sit upon the docks, each in various states of casting their rods. Above them, long legged birds perch, waiting to see what the ocean will bring.
Tumblr media
5.8. Southeast Gallery
Six paintings line the walls.
1. An empty pub washroom, broken stalls. A row of urinals, more of a trough, really.
2. A body of a bee, crushed, laying at the bottom of a small hole, surrounded by pristine grass.
3. An alien saucer, vaporizing a city skyline.
4. An endless hallway, unnerving angles, accented with pastel stripes.
5. A picnic table in the dark, seated with a lonely minstrel.
6. That sandwich shop you’ve been meaning to try, abandoned, boarded up.
Under a glass cloche: A mechanical model depicting an old water mill, operating in a forest clearing. Droplets of oil simulate a rain storm as they drip down strands of fishing line, coiled around the scene.

At this very moment, the confused murmur of voices and music stops all regular proceedings: old women and children tattling; apes, bears, and shew-boxes under the windows; the devil to pay in the inn; French rattling, English swearing, outrageous Italians, frisking minstrels; tambours de basque at every corner; myself distracted; a confounded squabble of cooks and haranguing German couriers just arrived, their masters following open mouthed; nothing to eat, the steam of ham and flesh-pots all the while provoking their appetite; Mynheers very busy with the realities, and smoking as deliberately as if in a solitary lust-huys over the laziest canal in the Netherlands; squeaking chamber-maids in the galleries above, and prudish dames below, half inclined to receive the golden solicitations of certain beauties for admittance; but positively refusing them, the moment some creditable personage appears; eleven o'clock strikes; half the lights in the fair are extinguished; scruples grow less and less delicate; mammom prevails, darkness and complaisance succeed.
