"Tiktok made me buy it!" 🤮
"I love Shein/temu" 🤮
"I got a new Stanley tumbler!" 🤮
"GRWM 12 step makeup/skincare routine!" 🤮
"Run, don't walk to Target!" 🤮
At the risk of sounding like a pick me but like, what the fuck is up with all this unconscious consumerism, especially among girls, like?
I don't care that some girls like to go shopping, wear makeup, tan, etc but it's the feeling that I keep getting whenever I'm on TikTok, Instagram, etc that this world is trying to make it all seem necessary. Do and buy what makes you happy, sure, but NO ONE in this world needs 10 different Stanley tumblers just to match different outfits...you're essentially defeating the purpose of a reusable cup...
And I just have to ask, if no one wore make up, shaved, tanned, wore fake lashes, got their nails done...would you?
I wear a bit of eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara from time to time but my annual makeup expense is like...maybe £15...
I've been using the same water bottle for the past 2 years, my clothes, bags, EVERYTHING fits into one collapsible wardrobe, I just...ugh..
I just wanted to rant about the fact that these companies are trying to make things that aren't necessary, seem necessary. Like you NEED this product! You're ugly without it! Have a fuck ton of clothes made by child slaves that you probably will wear once and stuff in your closet for years! Buy buy buy cause you NEED TO.
And God forbid I want to finally replace something like...I want to replace it with THE SAME thing but apparently that's stupid and almost illegal.
THERE ARE LITERAL 10 YEAR OLDS IN SEPHORA BUYING SKIN CARE AND MAKE UP THAT THEY DONT NEED.
No offense to anyone for liking any of these things at all. I love seeing girls in hella cute outfits and nice makeup and all but like...You don't need to buy everything for the sake of buying everything.
Rant over
