Nature Inspired: Golden Cicada Resting On a Jade Leaf

Exquisite ornament of the Ming dynasty.

Total weight of the insect figurine, made of 95% pure gold, is 4.65 g. The thickness of the finely crafted wings is only 2 mm.

Unearthed in Boshiwu (博士塢), Wufeng Mountain, Suzhou. Now exhibited in Nanjing Museum (南京博物院).

Meet Henry! 🏴‍☠️

This little critter worked as a pirate for many years in the 18th century alongside his human friend and now, after a well deserved break, he is ready for a new adventure!

No one really knows the origin of these little spirits who followed sailors everywhere. Some people believed only the most dangerous pirates could have a Tiny Mate but that's absolutely not true, many of them sailed with pirates that weren't exactly notorious--- or bright.

Henry loves collecting chocolate coins and shiny trinkets, besides being really proud of his booty!

I really wanted to try to sculpt minis that's why I bought fimo (yeah green stuff is probably better, but practice with cheaper stuff) but then chickened out and started it with Zbrush 🙈

Later that day, Youtube suggests me a brand new account of someone sculpting a mini.

Now I'm looking for an idea for sculpting, something I'd want to paint, but also not too difficult to sculpt 😅
