Welcome to my private little getaway! The sun is hot 🌞 and the water is cold 💦 and it's just right for an afternoon break to unwind and just BE. ❤️
I miss my adventurous hikes, rock climbing, exploring, trespassing 👀 😅 road trips & and waterfalls... but when you can't do everything you want to do - find things you CAN do, that make you smile from the inside out. 😊✌️
I found this spot by accident back when I was still able to hike & explore, and I've enjoyed it SO much this year!!
It's just a few steps from the car by road, so it's easy to get to - but I always have it all to myself. 👌
Instead of feeling sad about all the things I can't do, while my leg is healing & I'm recovering, I've been making a list of things I can do 💥‼️ and places that are easier to get to as soon as I'm able or on days that I can.
Mindset is everything. 💯
That worked well for me in changing my diet too, when I went low carb 11 years ago. Instead of focusing on all the foods you're avoiding, focus on all the delicious foods you CAN eat. 😋 and ENJOY them!
I may not be able to do all the big things (right now), but I still have a very full & happy life. 💝

I used to tell myself that I was a slow reader. I used to tell myself that I was average. Nothing special. Carry on. Mr. Tuttle, my home room teacher from 7th grade, thought I was gifted. When I took my IQ test, I subconsciously sabotaged the results. My self story was too strong. After constantly being compared to “smarter” cousins, and other brilliant children, I started to doubt myself. Why can’t I be a straight A student? Why am I so undisciplined? Why does my mind wander so much and why do I lose focus? It wasn’t until my 40s that I realized how I read differently. I don’t read fast. I read deeply. I read at a pace that allows me to contemplate the meaning of what I read and with the intention to teach others. It wasn’t a race to finish. It was at a pace to understand. My whole outlook on books and myself changed. It’s not how many books you read. It’s what you’re able to apply from what you learn that matters. Now, I have a whole new self story.
