Rosberg X Racing continúa su dominio en la Extreme E con victoria en el Island X-Prix II

Esta vez no hubo polémica. Por tercera vez en la temporada, Rosberg X Racing cruzó la meta en primera posición, pero a diferencia de la última carrera en Cerdeña esta vez sí fue la segunda victoria del año para la escudería de Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky y Johan Kristoffersson, que se escapa adelante en el campeonato. La victoria fue en pista, luego de que Ahlin-Kottulinsky completara un gran adelantamiento sobre Jutta Kleinschmidt en la vuelta final del Island X-Prix II. Luego, Kleinschmidt y el ABT Cupra, segundos en pista con Nasser Al-Attiyah, serían descalificados del evento luego de que Jutta no se abrochara completamente los cinturones de seguridad luego del cambio de pilotos. Así, el podio quedó conformado por Rosberg X Racing, X44 en segunda posición y Andretti United tercero.

La acción del domingo comenzó con la Semi Final 1, donde Rosberg X Racing se llevó una cómoda victoria. Luchando por el segundo puesto, Laia Sanz y Sara Price tuvieron contacto, lo que dañó la suspensión trasera del prototipo de Price y Chip Ganassi Racing, clasificando a Laia, Carlos Sainz y Acciona Sainz a la Final junto con Rosberg.

Luego se vino la Semi Final 2, donde la victoria fue cómoda para X44 con sólido esfuerzo de Cristina Gutiérrez y Sebastien Loeb pese a problemas de potencia seguido de ABT Cupra con Nasser Al-Attiyah y Jutta Kleinschmidt, que resistieron los ataques de Emma Gilmour y Tanner Foust de McLaren. Así, X44 y ABT Cupra pasaban a la Final.

Para definir el último puesto para la Final, se corrió la Crazy Race, en la cual Catie Munnings de Andretti United tuvo una brillante salida para quedar primera seguida de Lance Woolridge de Veloce. Después de intentar el sobrepaso en varias oportunidades, Woolridge igualó a Munnings en la recta camino al cambio de pilotos, pero los autos hicieron contacto y el auto de Veloce terminó haciendo un trompo quedando detrás del de JBXE con Hedda Hosas. Así el duelo quedaba entre Timmy Hansen de Andretti United y su hermano Kevin Hansen por el JBXE pero Kevin cometió un error e hizo un trompo, permitiendo que Andretti United ganara el último cupo a la Final.

En la Final, ABT Cupra aprovechó los votos del Grid Play para ponerse en la mejor posición de salida y ganar la largada con Nasser Al-Attiyah. El qatarí tuvo una inspirada vuelta, resistiendo los embates de Johan Kristoffersson del equipo de Rosberg y Sebastien Loeb del X44. Todo quedaría en nada, ya que en el cambio de pilotos Jutta Kleinschmidt no pudo ponerse bien los cinturones de seguridad y pese a salir en el liderato, se sabía que sería descalificada. Aun así, Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky arriesgó y la adelantó en una zona de paso por agua, ganando en pista para el Rosberg X Racing. Jutta cruzaba la meta segunda pero fuera de carrera, con lo que el X44 pasaba al segundo puesto con Cristina Gutiérrez y Sebastien Loeb y tercero quedaba el Andretti United con Catie Munnings y Timmy Hansen. El Acciona Sainz terminó cuarto pese a abandonar en la primera vuelta.

Con los resultados, Rosberg X Racing tiene un liderato de 37 puntos con 60 en juego, luego podrían asegurar fácilmente el título en la próxima ronda en Chile...

X44 Takes Their Second Season 3 Win at the Sardinia Island X Prix

Fraser McConnell secured the perfect start for X44 as he charged around the outside in the opening corner. Another impressive overtake followed, as Loeb managed to pass RXR’s Johan Kristoffersson to take second. As the next drivers took over, a confident drive from Cristina Gutiérrez ensured the win for X44 ahead of RXR’s Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky in second and ABT CUPRA XE’s Andersson in third.

There aren't any female drivers with that level of fame and Vogue won't promote one because they're a magazine about fashion, not motorsport. They would rather give a cover to an unknown model than to any female athlete because they're targeting an audience whose main taste is fashion, not sports. An exception where they would give someone a cover that appeals to both audiences would be Lewis, and even then Lewis would only get a cover because he is very famous outside of his sport as well, so his issue would sell good numbers. It's tough, but it's the truth. Expect Vogue NL to invite Max himself for a shoot than Beitske Visser. Kelly is on the cover of Vogue NL because she dates the Netherlands Golden Boy. That's what she is to the dutch audience, "the brazilian model who dates Max Verstappen, and who is also the daughter of a three-time F1 world champion". The fact that they made a post promoting the issue after the award he won shows that. The only chance they would have given a female driver a cover would be if Max was still dating Sabré Cook or Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, and just because of they'd be dating him, not due their careers. Rosberg X Racing domina la clasificación del Island X-Prix II de Extreme E, Acciona Sainz vuelve a demostrar nivel con gran victoria en Heat 2

El equipo Robserg X Racing volvió a demostrar que tiene una de las mejores alineaciones de pilotos en la grilla de la Extreme E al dominar la Clasificación para el Island X-Prix II en Cerdeña, Italia. Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky y Johan Kristoffersson no se conformaron con ganar con comodidad la sesión contrarreloj sino que ganaron claramente el Heat 1 para sumar máximos puntos y quedarse con el puesto de mejor sembrado para mañana. En el Heat 2, después de una formidable largada de Carlos Sainz, el Acciona Sainz se quedó con el triunfo y la clasificación a la Semi Final 1.

La sesión contra el reloj fue una de las pruebas más limpias en lo que va de recorrido de la Extreme E y ningún auto presentó fallas mecánicas. En una lucha de pura velocidad, Rosberg X Racing marcó el mejor tiempo superando por 10.741 segundos a Chip Ganassi Racing con Sara Price y Kyle LeDuc. Detrás de Ganassi las distancias estuvieron muy apretadas: X44 terminó a 11.374 segundos de la punta, McLaren y Andretti United a 15 segundos y ABT Cupra a 16. Más atrás, JBXE, Acciona, Xite Energy y cerrando el grupo, Veloce.

Luego llegó la hora de los Heat: En la primera carrera, Kristoffersson largó adelante y resistió los embates de Sebastien Loeb de X44 durante toda la vuelta. Atrás, Timmy Hansen de Andretti United hacía un trompo y dañaba su suspensión trasera, terminando su carrera. En el segundo giro, Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky pudo hacer una distancia con Cristina Gutiérrez y lograr un claro triunfo para RXR. Atrás, por la tercera posición, Xite Energy con Tamara Molinaro adelantó a Hedda Hosas de JBXE. Sin embargo, la fortuna no acompañó a ninguno de estos dos equipos ya que estarán en la Crazy Race de mañana.

En el segundo Heat, Carlos Sainz tuvo una largada brillante para superar a Kyle LeDuc y Nasser Al-Attiyah. En la primera curva, Tanner Foust de McLaren logró adelantar a Al-Attiyah y ponerse tercero. Sainz y LeDuc adelante iban muy pegados, dejándose nada de espacio con el madrileño adelante. Sobre el final de la vuelta, esto le costó a LeDuc, que cometió un error y se salió de la pista, además de saltarse un WayPoint lo que lo llevó al último lugar de esta carrera detrás del equipo Veloce. En la segunda vuelta, Laia Sanz abrió distancia con Emma Gilmour de McLaren y Jutta Kleinschmidt de ABT Cupra para ganar la carrera y el boleto a Semi Finales.
