Yes 🙌 I often get questions where you can feel the "racing" in their words... They are racing for an answer. If we find ourselves doing that, it never hurts to slow down, take a breath, check in with ourselves. It doesn't mean we're ignoring or suppressing the concern…. it just means we're regulating our system enough to respond calmly. Posted @withregram • @raising_yourself I am so grateful to live in a time where there are so many books, resources, and advocates out there to help guide us as we aspire to become more conscious, gentle parents. Yet, the longer I am on this journey, the more I realize that so many of the answers I seek about myself, about parenting, about life...can be found from within my own heart and my own lived experiences. I don't believe in parenting "experts," because parenting is, well, life. And no one is a better expert of your own life than YOU. I am a student and I am a teacher, but I am no expert. There are no magic formulas or checklists for healing and if someone claims there is, I would run the other direction. Life, and parenting in particular, is a series of constant invitations to tune in to where have still have rage, and grief, and pain and to gently ask ourselves what we need to do to tend to those wounds. **Of course, there is absolutely a time and place for therapists and coaches and support ...but we are so conditioned from a young age to believe that the answers we seek are all outside of us...that our instincts and intuition cannot and should not be trusted, that we often forget to listen to the higher version of ourselves - often our inner child - who has so much to say. 💗 IT IS SAFE TO TRUST YOURSELF. Forging Her Own Path

This was a birthday commission from one friend to another. The subject of the painting was an ex Roller Derby competitor who was simultaneously celebrating her 40th birthday after freeing herself from a toxic relationship. She was described as thrift store eccentric with a fauxhawk that changes color weekly, and strong Disney Princess vibes by the way animals are attracted to her.

I wanted to represent her journey as having walked through some thick weeds, but she’s coming out of the other side with a warm sun at her back. The turtle she’s smiling down on is her favorite animal. I’m told the recipient wept when she received it and she’s going to use it as her inspiration to keep moving forward.

I'm nearly done with the second novel in my Paranormal Women's Fiction series and I'm not sure it'll fit into the 55K word count I've set for it. I'm fine with it being longer. I'm just amused that it keeps growing like this.

Anyway, if I can get 5000 words written today, the first draft will be done!! I'm excited. I'm hoping to publish it by the end of the month.

I'll have to start the next one right away, though, because this one ends on a much cliffier note than the first one. Eek.

Also, when I'm done, I can finish a couple of personal non-writing projects that have been on hold for ages. (Hand-bound art book I'm looking at you!)

Or were you forced to comply with whatever your parents wanted you to be interested in...participate in sports, play a certain instrument, adopt their religion, be more outgoing, etc.? Or conversely, do you struggle with your child having different interests than you? It's so, so important to allow children to discover and embrace what makes them...THEM. If they are forced to do things over and over that is not a reflection of who they are and what they care about, over time, it erodes their sense of self. It's, at least in part, why so many of us grow up, get to midlife, and don't know who we are...we've been following a roadmap that was never ours to begin with. It's scary, but it's also an exciting an awakening to redefine who we are. Nearly There

Well, I didn't make my self-imposed deadline. I wanted to finish this novel by the end of today, and I'd set an assumed wordcount of about 55,000 words. It's going to be at least 60K words. I'm at about 54,000 now and am pretty sure I can get up to over 55K tomorrow evening. 2K is an easy reach for me. If I really push, and get my outline much fuller, I might be able to get to the end on Monday. I hope
