Cecil B. De Mille directed a movie about the crusades, called simply The Crusades, first shown in theaters in 1935. The movie had very good special effects and actions sequences for movies of the time, but was and is generally regarded as having very low historical accuracy.
One time, historian and adventure short stories writer Harold Lamb walked on set and this exchange took place.
"The mild and bespectacled Harold Lamb was (...) a regular visitor. When asked by De Mille what he thought of one of the battle sequences, he replied that the extras were not showing enough hostility: "What you need is a thousand battle axes red with blood", he said. "That would make it a shambles," De Mille said. "Exactly. And also history', Lamb replied."
give all the bat boys more defining features. they’re not actually related so they don’t have to be clones of bruce and of each other jksnk please for my sanity when i have to read a comic of them out of costume!!
bc I was talking about this with Seras, here’s a potential vampire!Truck timeline (aka Mel slots all her verses together like a narrative matryoshka doll just bc she can):
~5th/6th century: lionheart verse (contemporaneous with king arthur, not that I’m thinking about green knight crossovers but....)
~8th/9th century: the viking verse I haven’t written in for years but still have feelings about from time to time
~18th century: VAMPIRATES
~late 18th/19th century: friendship with Malakh's Raphael in Peru
~1920s/30s: prohibition/gangster verse
all of which adds up to the charming vampire in Lu’s local graveyard who does things like invite vampire hunters in for tea because I honestly think he just doesn’t believe he can be killed at this point XD
