A linguagem é fluida.

QUOTE OF THE DAY Saturday, August 20, 2022
"The single greatest lesson the garden teaches is that our relationship to the planet need not be zero-sum, and that as long as the sun still shines and people still can plan and plant, think and do, we can, if we bother to try, find ways to provide for ourselves without diminishing the world." - Michael Pollan, The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals

A lot of people have messaged me about this book- so I want to say, definitely read it. It’s a very engaging and sincere investigation into science, history, therapy, psychology, and it’s written in the way that only Michael Pollan could write (Part interview, journal, historical research, and scientific investigation). Check it out. #michaelpollan #howtochangeyourmind

Zaterdag 19 december – Leestips.
Pulitzer prijs fictie 2019.
Verruim je geest (How to Change Your Mind), van Michael Pollan. 2019, NY Times No1 bestseller. Het echte verhaal over geestverruimende middelen. Even wetenschappelijk als meeslepend.

Caffeine by Michael Pollan ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 Stars Read 1️⃣8️⃣ of 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Review: I got this book for free from Audible Originals. I wasn’t too interested I. This book but it was enough motivation for me to attempt to stop drinking coffee. So far I haven’t had any coffee for the last 2 weeks. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Description: Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world—and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat. Pollan takes us on a journey through the history of the drug, which was first discovered in a small part of East Africa and within a century became an addiction affecting most of the human species. Caffeine, it turns out, has changed the course of human history—won and lost wars, changed politics, dominated economies. What’s more, the author shows that the Industrial Revolution would have been impossible without it. The science of how the drug has evolved to addict us is no less fascinating. And caffeine has done all these things while hiding in plain sight! Percolated with Michael Pollan’s unique ability to entertain, inform, and perform, Caffeine is essential listening in a world where an estimated two billion cups of coffee are consumed every day. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ #caffeine #caffeineaddict #coffee #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #audiobook #audiobooks #audible #audibleoriginal #michaelpollan #starbucks #starbuckscoffee #dunkindonuts #📚 @audible (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBdAVh5gFaR/?igshid=lrtquyy0fm9r

“Opened to the music, I became first the strings, could feel on my skin the exquisite friction of the horsehair rubbing over me, and then the breeze of sound flowing past as it crossed the lips of the instrument and went out to meet the world, beginning its lonely transit of the universe. Then I passed down into the resonant black well of space inside the cello, the vibrating envelope of air formed by the curves of its spruce roof and maple walls. The instrument’s wooden interior formed a mouth capable of unparalleled eloquence — indeed, of articulating everything a human could conceive. But the cello’s interior also formed a room to write in and a skull in which to think and I was now it, with no remainder. So I became the cello and mourned with it for the twenty or so minutes it took for that piece to, well, change everything. Or so it seemed; now, its vibrations subsiding, I’m less certain. But for the duration of those exquisite moments, Bach’s cello suite had had the unmistakable effect of reconciling me to death… Having let go of the rope of self and slipped into the warm waters of this worldly beauty — Bach’s sublime music, I mean, and Yo-Yo Ma’s bow caressing those four strings suspended over that envelope of air — I felt as though I’d passed beyond the reach of suffering and regret.” Michael Pollan on regret and belonging excerpt from @brainpicker #michaelpollan Writing prompts: Reflect in regret. How does your character experience regret? Write a piece on regret. Today I will write about Today I will offer my writing to Today I am grateful for My intention for today is . . .
