Cool workout for you tomorrow. The wife @angsam and I went through this Easter Sunday Metabolic Dumbbell circuit today before indulging in delicious feast. Perform each exercise for 30 sec of work followed by 15 seconds rest one after the other for 2 rounds straight = 6 minutes. Rest 1 minute and repeat for 3-5 rounds total. We were sweating bricks and the muscles were burning. Syn-chro-ni-ci-ty !This is my word for this year I’m guessing. After the supplements recommended by friends (and a doctor !) which helped so much more than typical (money obsessed) japanese doctors, today when I got back from a medical exam with only a diagnosis and some painkillers but no help, I received this DVD box I ordered last month from an Instagram ad (first time I do this here) so I just came home from work and tried the first workout. Damn, that’s been such a long time since my last workout, I’m glad it’s going gradually, it feels good ! Thanks @jadeteta Hopefully it will help since I’m absolutely not ready to go back to a sport club or dance circle, because of all the sweat that may be infused with Covid, I can’t risk it, nobody would be here to help me if I get sick. But I also need something hopefully more adapted to my hormonal issues distorting my body and killing my energy. 15mns x 3 times a week should be perfect for now with my busy schedule. (Which I need to lighten, I have been told my 3 doctors... but how?? And it was so difficult financially last year with the pandemic, I’m so stressed out all the time about money...) Anyhow ! Time for a shower and then bed time 😴 🤷‍♀️ Too bad the recipes aren’t vegan but !... Bonus point for the modifications for injuries on the DVD ! Don't fear press ups (AKA push ups)! People associate press-ups with military style training and are put off by them as a difficult exercise and then go off and do something easier and MUCH less useful like running on a treadmill. Press ups a great full body workout that stimulate your shoulders, trunk and leg muscles. Even knee press ups or chair press ups will give you a good workout and you can progress to full press ups from them. Like any full body workout move (e.g. squats and lunges) they significantly stimulate your muscles and also your heart to pump blood to those muscles. They stimulate your metabolism and help you to burn fat, in conjunction with a good diet. When earnt to do with form, press ups can be included in a high intensity interval bodyweight workout that you can do anywhere without any equipment. Today I did a metabolic workout that I'd like to share with you all 🤣 what's a "metabolic" workout you ask? That's just a fancy word for a workout that includes big movements with little break in between sets. So what metabolic workout did I do? Set 1: barbell squats and dumbbell shoulder press Set 2: dumbbell bench press and 1 arm rows Set 3: barbell Deadlifts and V-ups Do 2-3 sets and perform each set for 10-15 repetitions. Break for 30-45 seconds in between sets. *Caution: Use proper form. Explosive Push Pull 😘 • Even though I wrote an entire published book on “ #metabolicworkouts “ (I hate that phrase as all training is metabolic), I really don’t care for it and rarely program it for my clients. Another For Full Body ... . I implemented the contrast training protocol where you perform a lift/movement with a HEAVY load for a set and follow it up with same lift/movement with very or considerably light load or bodyweight. . . Work 40 secs for the heavy and 20 secs for the contrasting/light movement, that's 60 secs of work. . Recover for 15 secs then move to the next lift. . Rest 60 mins after each round/set. . My homie @iamdancefit kicked the bucket after the 4th round 😂 so guess what?! I laid up same bucket and kicked it as well 🤣🤣 . . ➡ DB Chest Presses to Tempoed Push ups ➡ Bird-Dog Rows to Strict Pull ups ➡ Front Squats to Jump Squats ➡ DB Lunge Curls to Battle Rope Alternate Waves.. . . Note: use weights that are at least 70% of your 1 Rep Max. for the specific lifts. . . CAVEAT! This is brutal! High intensity interval training or HIIT is great way or burning fat and getting fit in partnership with a good diet. However, you need to move away from this idea that HIIT for fat loss involves intense sprints or intense cycling. To maximise the metabolic effects of HIIT training you need to do these three things. 1) The most important thing you must do is include resistance exercises when doing HIIT. This may be bodyweight exercises, dumbbell or barbell. But stick to doing bodyweight or dumbbell. You're more likely to these regularly and consistently. 2) Perform compound movements that work large muscle groups like your shoulder, chest, trunk and legs and not do isolation exercises. Compound moves require multiple muscles to work and coordinate together thus increasing the work intensity (and metabolic and fat-burning effects) of the workout. 3) You need to vary your workouts so you don't get bored. One of the great things about HIIT full body workouts is that there are so many moves you can do to get a great fat-burning and fit-inducing workout. Varying your workout not only keeps it interesting but also works all your muscle groups, stimulating some lean muscle growth and giving you that ‘lean look'.
