Misty Boat
This photograph was taken during a recent visit to Loch Awe. I got up at 5am and went exploring with my camera and tripod. I saw the potential of this composition straight away. I have deliberately reduced the saturation on the bhoys so that they do not distract the viewer from the boat.

Disused Fish Factory
I saw this old fish factory whilst driving in the West of Scotland. I saw the juxtaposition between the derelict factory and the beauty of the landscape behind and have attempted to capture that in the photograph.

Devorgilla Bridge at Night
This photograph was taken last week whilst taking photographs of the local fair at night. I looked to my left and saw that there was some mist around under the bridge so I walked further down the riverside so that I could get the composition I wanted.

Hexham Factory
I pass this factory every time I travel to Newcastle. Earlier this year I decided to stop and photograph it. The steam from the chimney contrasted nicely with the clouds. I had to remove lamp posts etc from the image in post production and added a bit of texture and contrast to enhance the clouds and steam.

Lake District from the Mersehead
I always have a camera with me and during a walk along the mersehead with my wife and dogs last year I looked across to the Lake District and saw the snow capped hills in the distance. I made sure the tree was in the foreground to provide some interest.

Loch Awe
Another Image from my early morning walk during the blue hour. I had my camera set to auto white balance and this is the result. I decided not to correct the WB as I liked the blue effect.

Redcar Seawall
I was attending a music event in Redcar and the following morning took a walk along the beach. I was thinking of taking a photo of the offshore wind farm when I saw the possibility of this composition. The white posts on the promenade match the windmills in the distance. The sky is possibly overdone but I have left it this way as I wanted the white poles to stand out.

Pintail at WWT Martin Mere Nature Reserve near Bourscough, Lancashire, UK - January 2018 by SaffyH www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a... Key information Slightly bigger than a mallard, these long-necked and small-headed ducks fly with a curved back pointed wings and a tapering tail, making this the best way to distinguish them from other ducks in the UK. The pintail is a 'quarry' species, meaning that it can be legally shot in winter, but - unlike in parts of Europe - it does not appear that shooting is affecting their population status in the UK. The small breeding population and significant winter population make them an Amber List species. What they eat: A variety of plants and invertebrates. Measurements: Length:63-70cm Wingspan:80-95cm Weight:0.55 to 2.2 kg Population: UK breeding:9-33 pairs UK wintering:29,000 birds Where and when to see them Pintails are a localised species, occurring at sheltered coasts and estuaries. Particularly large concentrations can be found on sites such as the Dee Estuary, Solway Estuary and Ouse Washes. You can see pintails all year round. Wintering birds arrive from September with numbers peaking in December. The return migration takes place from late February into March.
