For Arcane, I’d also like to draw Jayce/Mel for Pride month but we’ll see. I didn’t get to do MerMay things like I wanted to. 😅😭 Fingers crossed!

Before his eyes, there was the personification of his and Allura’s features: the red and the blue looked like the splitting of the pink in Allura’s scales, as Lance complexion was similar to the women’s one. The babies’ black fins and Keith’s hair, instead, were indeed a heredity from Shiro.

I didn't have anything planned out, so I threw together this little fairy tale. Well, I tried to make it like a fairy tale; not sure how well I succeeded.

           Once upon a time, there was a young man named Shiro. He lived in a small fishing village with his younger brother, Keith. Their father had been a fisherman who had died at sea; their mother had recently taken ill and passed away. Shiro had to provide for himself and his brother, so he followed in his father’s footsteps and took to the sea.

           But he was not the only fisherman in the village. Competition was fierce. Shiro went out farther into the ocean and stayed out later than the others, not coming home until well after dark. He didn’t get much, but he got enough to keep them from starving. Barely.

           Then came a day when it was going to storm. Everyone knew it; being raised near the ocean, you learned to tell these things. The other fisherman decided not to risk going out that day at all. But Shiro went. No one else to fight for fish with, and he needed the food and the coin for Keith. He set his small boat out to sea, intending to return when the storm came.

           The storm swept in suddenly. The winds howled in full-throated fury and the waves snapped like whips. The rain was sharp and cold. He tried to return to shore with his catch, but the boat flipped over. Shiro and his nets full of fish were thrown into the water.

           Even though he was a strong swimmer, the violent waves pulled him down. Every time he tried to return to the surface, it was like he was slapped down again. He felt stinging pain along his arm and cried out reflexively, but he was underwater. There was no air. There was no escape. He could feel himself fading.

Shallura mermay! There’s no specific story as such for this, but here’s the background for the image I made up while I drew it. _ Shiro got caught by the Galra, a type of deep deep sea mers or something the like, and taken away from his own tribe. He goes through a bunch of shit resulting in all of his injuries. Keith, from the same tribe as Shiro is definitly looking for him.  After a good while, Shiro manages to escape and he’s swimming as fast as he’s able to with his injuries. Some new ones he got in the escape as well. He has no clue where he is, he’s been taken so far away from his tribes homeland that he doesn’t know where to go.  Allura, queen/princess/empress who knows, of a nearby tribe Shiro passes, finds him. She’s concerned seeing the state he’s in and his injuries, and all she wants to do is get a closer look so she can help. But Shiro’s scared, terrified and has no idea who he can trust out here so far from home, so he keeps trying to maintain distance, but damn if Allura isn’t stubborn.  In the end she gets to help him though, taking him back to her tribe for proper medical attention and from there they gotta figure out how to get Shiro home.

Keith, while drowning in his own misery and sorrow, wishes to find something more than anything and he's willing to go to any lenght to achieve this, going as far as asking a very morally dubious individual, Earl Lotor, for help.

The contract he's given burns in his closed fist, and he regrets even doing this in the first place, but he feels like he has no choice. He's alone, again, and he can't bear the idea of losing the only thing that gave him some semblance of happiness in his life.

He signs the paper, it feels like finality.

Lance is tired of the stagnant underwater world, sad that his sister doesn't seem to be doing anything to repair relations between both worlds. He longs for the days long past when humans and merfolk could mingle and there was no fear holding them back.

He wants those days to return, and if no one in the goddess forsaken ocean is willing to do anything about it, rules be damned, he'll be the one to do it himself.

He takes a trip to the surface without permission, and so it begins.

When these two meet, the cogs of fate begin to turn, and the tide of destiny rises with a frienship that brings them both more than they bargained for.

Happy MerMay! I call this “Kiss the Girl.” :)

There is a backstory for this au, it’s a childhood friends to lovers setup. Lil Takashi found Lil Allura tangled in some fishing nets when they were like, ten years old, and got her out. Ever since then Shiro bikes over to the beach to hang out with her. But some years later there’s a gap of time when they don’t see each other (Shiro had an accident). But when they meet again they realize the love they feel for each other is romantic. ❤️
