Yesterday I was watching Top Gun Maverick, and we all know that is Della's favorite movie.

But, which is the favorite movie of the rest of the family?

Let's go for the two obvious answers first.

Yeah, we're not getting original, is Ocean's Eleven for Louie. He looks up to Danny Ocean.

And of course Webby loves The Little Mermaid.

Look at this stuff. Isn't it neat?

Now, we can imagine.

For Donald, it has to be a sea movie. But which one? Donald likes calm and naps, but he fights zombies with chainsaws.

So he can take a horror movie. And it just happen that the best horror movie ever is about a sea monster. Yeah, Donald loves Jaws.

A movie about a hero saving the town dancing? Yes, Dewey loves everything about Footloose.

Huey believes in science, but he also believes in love. So, Wall-E for him.

You know he cries every time he sees Wall-e and Eve dancing in space.

Lena is a horror gal. That's her thing. I think she loves the classics, but she changes her favorite when something scarier appears. So, Hereditary.

I headcanon all Team Science being anime fans. B.O.Y.D. is definitely a Ghibli fan, and I believe My Neighbor Totoro would be his favorite.

The Three Caballeros Ride Again, Mermaid Daisy Duck and The Golden Helmet (classic versions, redraw of these covers and paintings and Donald Duck comics by Carl Barks and Don Rosa)

A long title, but what's there is. Well, after a long time, to publish something, albeit belatedly, related to anniversaries.

The first drawing represents a redraw of a comic cover by Don Rosa and one of his best comics, 2000’s “The Three Caballeros Ride Again”. He drew in his own style, although not very perfect, where the famous three caballeros (Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles) travel around North, Central and South America in their adventures. Here you can see how they cross the Arizona desert and Mexico (cacti can be seen there). Yes, Donald is in a hurry to drive his car under number 313. I definitely recommend this comic to everyone who hasn't read it yet.

Certainly the three of them love adventure.

Another drawing presents Daisy Duck as a mermaid. I know Mermay is over, but I don't care, so I'll post it for Merjune (two words mermaid and the month of June), or Toon June. I took the classic version of Daisy Duck, but I threw the bow out of her. Certainly she is waiting for her beloved to come on the rocks around the sea shore.

The third drawing is a redraw from Carl Barks' ingenious drawing "The Golden Helmet" based on the comic book of the same name, which came out on May 20, 1952, so this year is the 70th anniversary of the comic. Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck are searching with a valuable artifact that can help rule all of North America. Certainly, in addition to Donald and his nephews, the museum's curator and two of Donald's villains (no, they are not Beagle Boys) are in search, and they are Azure Blue (reference to Olaf the Blue, actually to the famous Eric the Red and his son Leif Erickson), and Sharky. It's not exactly how it turned out, but I drew in my own style, mostly connecting classic versions from cartoons and connecting it with the style from comics.

Yes, and this was done on the occasion of Daisy’s birthday which is June 7th and on the occasion of Donald’s birthday which is June 9th. I wish them a happy birthday, albeit early!

Yes, just to note that the universes in the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics are not the same, but different, although Don Rosa referred to Carl Barks, he made differences in his comics, especially in characterization.

Especially the most important characters like Donald, Oswald, Mickey, Goofy, Pete, Horace, Clarabelle, Minnie, Ortensia, Daisy, Pluto, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Jose and Panchito, Chip and Dale, Scrooge, Ludwig and others. As well as great movies like Snowhite, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh, Robin Hood, Black Cauldron, Oliver and Company, Rescuers, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, The Lost City of Atlantis, The Emperor's New Suit, Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch and many more. And almost everyone together on the occasion of the 100th anniversary celebration. Thanks to Eric Goldberg for this, as well as the other animators. Day One- Pirate AU

For three years JJ has been searching the ocean, it’s been three years since that fateful night but he hasn’t given up.

He knew John B was pissed and grieving, he had every right to be. JJ had fucked up big time.

As Captain, he was on the upper deck manning the wheel, Ruby was his first mate, his second command, and his girlfriend..

There was a storm that night, JJ fighting against the waves as he made the foolish decision to send Ruby to tie the sails.

The wind drowned out her screams as she was knocked overboard. And no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t find her.

What he didn’t know, is Ruby had been cursed because of her father- a greedy treasure hunter who had never paid anyone back.

Now here she was three years later, in the ocean and watching JJ drink at the beach pub. He looked miserable and her heart ached.

Ruby didn’t know how JJ would react to her new form, mermaid..? Siren..? She wasn’t quite sure which one she was.

But she knew a lot of pirates were poachers. What if he tried to hurt her? So for a while she kept her distance, just following his ship.

She missed him though.. So she knew she had to make herself known. Worst case scenario she had her siren song and some pretty sharp teeth to protect herself.

Ruby watched as JJ made his way onto the small life boat, about to return to his ship, The Phantom.

She took a deep breath and swam over, pushing herself up out of the water, grabbing onto the oar as her other hand rested on the side of the boat.

JJ looked over, his breath getting caught in his throat as he blinked a few times, trying to convince himself that Ruby was there.

“Rubes..” JJ breathed out, crouching down to her level, “hi J..” Ruby said quietly.

JJ’s fingers tightened and untightened around the oar as he leant down to her, his eyes scanning to make sure this really was Ruby.

“ it’s me..” Ruby whispered as she searched his eyes, the sun making her turquoise scales shimmer, “ how did you- what..?” JJ asked.

“curse..” She said quietly, gratefully taking his hand as he pulled her onto the boat, “looks like we got a lot of catching up to do..” He murmured, gently wrapping a blanket around her.

After a few weeks Ruby was back to being JJ’s first mate of The Phantom, turns out once she is out of water she turns human again.

Eventually JJ had fallen deeply in love with Ruby and her new life, absolutely wonderstruck anytime she’d be in the water as a mermaid.

He thought he would be afraid, that he couldn’t love a mermaid, but beneath the sharp teeth and scales that was still his girlfriend.

JJ welcomed Ruby’s new form with open arms, and it became quite useful as she could spy on other ships for them.

Ruby was thankful that JJ was trusting of her and not a poacher like his family before him. She actually felt safe on the ship.

Now instead of spending her nights looking for some place to hide, she was in the captains quarters, JJ’s body rocking against her own as the candlelight shown across their features, Ruby’s skin having a natural dewey sparkle to it.

Neither of them ever imagined they would have this life back, to be together ever again.

But god were they glad they did.

my feelings on Della Duck

okayokay I recognise that I am biased bc of my daddy issues, I am in no way denying that - this is not fact, just 1000% my OWN personal feelings on Della and her character in the reboot

so basically. I don’t like her. as you could probably tell. BUT I WANT TO SM. SERIOUSLY. LIKE SHE’S SPUNKY, SHE’S HILARIOUS, HER RELATIONSHIP WITH DONALD IS EVERYTHING TO ME

but the way her basically abandoning the triplets is never explored properly, and how she takes over Donald’s role as main caretaker, never addressing the extreme responsibility of taking care of children (even with Scrooge, who is still notoriously difficult to work with) that was dumped on them, even unintentionally

I think her arc could’ve been SO good. women are never allowed to make mistakes and own them in media. like Marinette in MLB being a huge creep never being addressed. or Wanda Maximoff barely getting a slap on the wrist after enslaving an entire town

I don’t think Della is a bad person, as we see she really didn’t mean to leave her family, but like. even if it was a mistake, she still went on that rocket ship. no one bribed or forced her (even if Bradford pushed her towards it, he didn’t hold a gun to her head to step onto the ship) but she still did it, KNOWING SHE HAD EGGS AT HOME.

and if they just ADDRESSED all this shit in the show, and at least had her realise how much damage she caused, even unwittingly, I would’ve been more lenient

her being a bad parent being somewhat explored (barely imho, she just releases a monster and they fight it together and wow we’re fine now) and the expectations Dewey puts on himself to be a badass adventurer, or Huey being pressured to leave his comfort zone, or Louie not connecting with her at all, all these issues could’ve been genuinely good arcs, but they’re all poorly handled in my opinion (except for Dewey, I do like the episode where Della tells him he doesn’t need to be some cool explorer for her to love him, ONLY THAT ONE THO)

don’t even get me started on the time travel shit with Louie. yes he should’ve been punished, but with all the extenuating circumstances, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DELLA, and it CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LEAVING HIM IN AN EXPERIMENTAL DEATH TRAP WHILE THEY RUBBED SALT IN THE WOUND BY GOING ON THE ONE ADVENTURE HE WOULD’VE ACTIVELY LIKED

and how all the issues with Donald how they immediately reconciled and (at least onscreen) never talked abt everything (or ANYTHING tbh) and instead just “omg we miss each-other and that makes everything okay yay”

anyways that’s a very condensed version of all my shit on Della Duck.

tldr; she could’ve been so good, if they just put more time into unwrapping her and having her basically redeem herself

if I ignore all of that tho, I can mostly enjoy her in episodes. the mermaid one, absolute comedy gold when she’s doing the tic tac toe thing, made me choke
