Legolas had a barbie phase.

Aragorn had a pirate phase.

Boromir had a cowboy phase.

Pippin wanted to be an astronaut (he was a space kid). Merry also wanted to be an astronaut, but mostly because he wanted to kick some alien butt.

Frodo wanted to be a vet. (For this reason, Sam wanted to be a puppy dog).

when Legolas discovered jojo siwa bows, he would put the all in his hair at once (and the remainder on his cuffs)

Galadriel selectively gives off grandmother, great aunt, hippie aunt, cool older cousin, and Chic I Cheated On My Gf With vibes.

The only thing that makes Boromir more uncomfortable that formal wear is Galadriel.

Gimli makes sandcastles. (Even if there isn’t any beach, or sand).

Dumb Headcanon of the Day:

After the War of the Ring, the people of Rohan invented polo.

HEAR ME OUT:

Tolkien is very clear that Hobbits invented golf.

Merry is a Hobbit. He went to Rohan and taught them how to play golf.

The people of Rohan went, “Well, this is fun, but wouldn’t it be even better if we did it on HORSES?”

So they modified the sport slightly to have mallets instead of clubs and a goal instead of holes (because horses can step in golf holes and that would be bad).

TL;DR: Rohan invented polo and we have Merry to thank for it.

The scene at the Grey Havens has so much unsaid. Sam does not detail everything that they all said to each other before the ship departed. While I don’t hate the total silence depicted in the films, it’s much more likely and realistic that the hobbits and Gandalf did have much to say to each other, which Sam chose to keep private and out of the record.

I headcanon that Pippin must’ve needed a moment to say goodbye to Gandalf, too. He really grew closest to Gandalf out of all the hobbits besides Frodo. A sizable chunk of the story focuses on the two of them in Gondor. While Pippin often annoys Gandalf throughout the story, it is clear that there is always affection there. Then it was their teamwork that saved Faramir. Gandalf especially must’ve really admired Pippin for his bravery and maturity during the siege and the Morannon battle.

I imagine while Frodo was hugging Merry goodbye, and Sam stood aside crying, Pippin asked if Gandalf really had to go, prompting Gandalf to confirm his time really was over. (Billy Boyd says a moment similar to this was filmed for but cut from the movie.)

Then Pippin lowered his head in tears. Gandalf touched Pippin’s chin, gently raised it to allow their eyes to meet, and tenderly said with a smile, “Farewell, fool of a Took.” And Pippin couldn’t help but smile at that.

CONCERNING HOBBITS.

TL;DR: I’ve done a whole bunch of math and simplified things so that all of you don’t have to and so that I don’t tear my hair out trying to figure things out!

CW FOR: drowning, parental death. Please stay safe!

Hobbit years are, give-or-take, 12 years more than human ones.

Therefore, the Hobbit coming-of-age 33 is our human coming-of-age 21. As a result, I’ve adjusted everybody’s age accordingly so that it’s easier to wrap our heads around (listed below), and, I’ve also aged Frodo down to be the same age as Sam, because I think it’s A) sweet and B) makes way more sense. I could also see Sam being slightly older than Frodo, as well.

Frodo and Sam are, canonically, about 26, Merry is, canonically, about 24, and Pippin is 16. While I’m very flexible on Frodo, Sam, and Merry’s age and the timeline in general (honestly, whatever makes the better story), I’m pretty firm in my belief that Pippin is 16, as he hasn’t come of age and that’s a major part of his character.

If we take Frodo as 26, that means the Ring stays dormant for about five years following Frodo and Bilbo’s party-- Frodo’s 21st birthday, and Bilbo’s 99th / 100th birthday-- though like I said, I’m very flexible either way, and he could leave right away like the movies imply as well.

Frodo’s parents drown when he’s five, and then he either goes to live at Brandy Hall for four years and then gets adopted by Bilbo when he’s nine, or he gets adopted by Bilbo right away (honestly, I like both ideas a lot, and would be down to do either).

Don't think about the fact that he told a Brandyfoot to follow their nose long long LONG before he told a Brandybuck in the darkness of Moria. Don't think about the fact that his friendship with the Hobbits began the very moment he fell to Middle Earth. Don't think about every time he said Meriadoc Brandybuck he was thinking of his first ever friend that he ever made who saved him and shared his first adventure ever with.

Nori is one of Merry's ancestors. It is now my favorite headcanon.
